Since Binghamton is in New York, you of course have to deal with taxes, however SUNY Binghamton, compared to other schools has a lot of props for the price. You can sign up for a good meal plan (that will definitely save you some money). There is a Student bus system which will help you cut corners on gas and paying for a parking permit. You can even get a job on campus at the Library or as a Tour guide. The school is actually known in magazines such as USA today as a good buy as far as tuition goes. There are extraciricilar leadership classes offered every now and again that look good on your resume.

One of the only downsides is the Health Service system does not stay open on weekends, but it offers walk in hours from 8 am - 11 am without and appointment. read full review

I adore dorming on campus because you basically live with your classmates/friends. You can eat together, hangout with each other and I must say you will never be bored. Freshmen aren't allowed cars on campus but there are free shuttle buses that take you places like walmart or oakdale mall. Also my favorite part of campus is the nature preserve, it is just a great place to sit and relax and enjoy nature. read full review
