My names is Shane and I am a current culinary student here. When I came to Kendall I had no kitchen experience and that was fine but I was slow in the kitchen and my knife cuts were so great. So I had to practice every night of school and go to the tutoring sessions. I suggest that you stage or get a job in a restaurant so you can gain some experience and be a little more prepared for school. If you don't want to do that then you can always go to the tutoring sessions they have and improve your skills. When the school holds events like the recent soup competition we had in the winter 2008 be part on the competition it looks good on a resume and it is just more experience. When the school holds demos in the auditorium sign up to see them you may learn something. If the career services send out an e-mail about helping a chef then grab that opportunity you never know that chef may give you a recommendation letter. Basically participate in the school events. Some of them are fun and you learn something. read full review
