To work hard for your goal, which is the major you are going to choose or you chose already. Always strive to be a better student. Education is the most powerful weapon as Nelson Mandela once said. Try to get involved as much a you can in activities, and try to get to know faculty member. And if you migh struggle with any class just ask one of your classmates to help you or you can go to the tutoring center which is free. The school would always try to help the students in any possible way.

Research your financial aid options (of which you have many) on your own, because they will not help you with them. When you want advice, seek out your advisor, he/she is likely too busy to check in on you and see how you are faring. Join something. There are so many clubs and memberships (free) to be a part of that it would be a shame to miss out on the opportunities, not to mention the friendships.
