  • Jun-16-2011 I am researching this school and have visited the campus

Joplin's really not a great place for attractions and entertainment, especially with the tornadoes that just went through. It's got the Boomtown Days festival in June, and nearby Carthage has it's Maple Leaf Festival in October, both of which are awesome to attend. Tulsa, Springfield, Branson, and Kansas City are only a few hours away, though.

I love this school.... close to home, cheap, and I'm surrounded by friends, both new and old! Professors are generally excellent (especially the Biology Department!!) There are excellent opportunities for campus activities, scholarships, and such! If you're short on cash and want to have a cozy, close-to-home college experience, this is the place to be! :D

The campus is a mid size campus. Perfect transition for those from smaller schools or those that just want that kind of community.

I can't say MSSU was my first choice and I am planning on transferring. However, it has been nice staying home for an extra year. So far, my teachers have been pleasant and willing to help and the overall atmosphere is comfortable.

The campus is beautiful. I have made lots of friends with similar interests; there is really something for everyone. The international focus is great with lots of activities.
