Categories Comments Great for these types of students Aspiring musicians, ASL, Spanish, Italian, etc. interpreters, theater majors, aviation, athletes, communication students, cheerleaders/song leaders disabled students, honor students, international students, minorities, those interested in studying abroad, students pursuing a BS, vocational students, fire academy here, students who plan to be active on campus, people who like to walk, those who love Carl's Junior (we have one on campus), who love large libraries, who love to go on facebook (YES WE HAVE ACCESS), who carry a laptop everywhere
Tips for prospective students Talk to counselors every semester to keep on track with your academic plans. Students tend to take classes that do not go towards their GE's or AA in what ever subject. Find out what you like! Find out who you are! Mt. Sac offers many self-evaluation services and helps you find out what you are good at! Furthermore, they are always hiring on campus and show postings of the local cities and companies who are hiring for all types of positions. Get there on time! Parking is crazy! Do not forget to drop your class if you do not plan on taking it anymore. W's are ugly and will hurt your academic record.
Bang for the buck Affordable! Request for the Governors Fee Waiver! Apply for FAFSA! Apply for CAL-GRANT! Apply for scholarships! This school is truly worth the expense! No student loans needed! You will be glad you went to a junior college first. SOOOO much cheaper.
Am enjoying being here At Mt. SAC, students truly are aware of the schools mission and that is academic success. We are reputable for being one of the top schools with successful transfer students and graduates. Furthermore, we have one of the most diverse campuses throughout southern California, and, we have one of the best athletic programs in the state. Having such a diverse student body has made the campus ever so exciting. This is because our student body has so many eclectic and active clubs on campus, numerous sports, and so many intelligent and talented students. I myself was part of the political science club called Global Resistance Networks. Considering how large the campus is and how many students attend here, the community still managed to feel like a family. I got to know the student body government, presidents from the different clubs, and the peers who were in my classes that were interested in what I found to be exciting. Furthermore, I got to mingle with football, basketball, and soccer players who were athletes going on a full ride to some of the best universities in the country! During the Budget Cuts on community colleges, we all got together to create a March and Rally against the Budget Cuts against California's Community Colleges. Apart from activism, many events occur here. If its our radio show holding events or colleges visiting our campuses, there is always something going on. We have plenty of nature at our campus. You may either find students napping under a tree or relaxing on the grass eating, studying, or talking to their friends. At Mt. SAC, no doubt you will find that it is a pleasant school to attend.
Am learning a lot Mt. San Antonio College attracts students from all over Southern California. This college offers numerous programs, contains excellent departments, and provides incredible student and academic services. Mt. Sac offers the Special Admittance Program which allows students from junior high through high school to attend college. I started college meanwhile in high school. Yes, I know unfair, but the important thing is that I truly grasped and appreciated an education. Because my situation was so unique, I really saw how poor high school education was from the collegiate level. Frankly, I couldn't wait to get into Mt. Sac officially. Why? Because the programs at Mt. Sac are academically enriched. Students truly grasp the concept and ideas of general education as well as other areas. Professors give the opportunity for students to interact among discussions, to express their views, and contest as well respect certain ideas. The classroom environment is truly an open forum to learn, observe, and come up with our own conclusions about life. Moreover, the professors have excellent experiences within their profession, and, they really try to meet the students needs. On a higher note, students at Mt. San Antonio College get to develop study skills like no other. Numerous study groups fill the study rooms in the library, the school campuses tutoring sites fill up with english/math/science appointments, the computer labs get easily packed with students who need help with their homework, special programs offer students to meet other students on campus who are wanting to develop certain study habits, and workshops are held so that students can have an opportunity to gain leadership skills. Am I learning a lot? 5 stars for the Mt. Sac Mounties! YES! I grew so much as a student and person at Mt. San Antonio College that I have earned my name on the Dean's list for earning a 3.6 GPA. Because of this achievement, I am now an upper division spring transfer student who has been accepted to three prestigious universities in the United States. I am proud to be a MOUNTIE!

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Mt. SAC is great for everyone and anyone - all ages welcome! Get ready to open your mind & meet new people :)
Tips for prospective students Keep your eye on the goal -- sometimes class may seem like the last thing you went to do, but remember that it's a step in the right direction & it'll all be over soon. Work your butt off now but still remember to enjoy yourself!! Make the most out of classes -- Don't be shy :) Make friends inside and outside of your classes as well as get to know your professor a little. You'll be more comfortable & it will make school a bit more enjoyable. Last, but not least -- Be careful of your workload & the classes/teachers you pick. Don't try to overexert yourself by carrying a ton of units. Check out ratemyprofessor.com if you'd like some sort of help in choosing a professor.
Bang for the buck You get your moneys worth when it comes to classes... but search around elsewhere (ie. online) for deals on textbooks .
Am learning a lot It's up to you to make the most of your classes. Take good notes, exchange contact information with others (in case you miss a lesson), and don't be afraid to ask questions :)

Categories Comments Great for these types of students If you are a shy person, get ready to open up because in order to succeed in any college you must be open. Determined Motivated Independent or ready to be indepent Have a wonderful experience
Tips for prospective students Mt. Sac will teach you how to become an individual because no one is going to cater to you and make sure you are taking the right classes. You have to find out on your own and ask a counselor to see if you are making the right choice for your major. Remember to never give up. There will be times when you would not get your way and would not be able to add the classes you wanted to. Most of the classes would go to the junior and senior students. Despite that occurrence, you will always have a chance to add your classes as long as you show determination and try to be present at the class you want to take. Sometimes, you may have to try more than one class. There would be other students how give up, and because you did not, you will have a higher chance to be in the class. In addition, do not take more units than you can handle because you would only suffer. Finally, take advantage of the tutors given in Mt. Sac. ITS FREE.
Bang for the buck If you want to save money apply for scholarships. Go online to search for books such as Amazon.com and more. Apply for financial aid and Bog Fee Waiver.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere is very calm. Everyone is surprisingly very kind to one another. Meet people and be social. In the end you will have connections in the future. College is the best way to make friends because everyone has a great future.
Am learning a lot I believe that Mt. Sac is one of the best community college out there. The teachers are very concern about their students future. Many try to warn students what will happen if they do not study they way the teachers want them too. Though, it is only to make the students prepared when they transfer to a university. In Mt. Sac you do not only learn the material, but also real life experience.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students This school are for those students that want to get a second chance at a better education. If a high school graduate was unable to get into a University, was not accepted to the university of their choice, or simply was not able to afford to go to a university right away, then starting a JC is the best start.
Tips for prospective students A few things that a future student would need to keep in mind would be: Check final date and time Map out classes Get to class on time Print out schedule Be prepared Always get a classmates name and number Check for drop dates Get to school early to get a parking space Have Fun Make sure to drop classes that you are no longer going to attend before refund date. If you don't drop the class and don't attend class, you will receive a fail grade and would still have to pay for the class. These tips will insure an easy transition to Mt. SAC.
Bang for the buck YES!! To get all of ones general education done for a low price is great. The class rooms are small enough for one on one time with the professor. Since the professor has less students in the classroom at one time, student professor communication is easier. Even though price matter, the knowledge, memories, and experience of attending Mt. SAC is price less.
Did enjoy being here I will miss going to Mt. SAC. I have met many different people, who have become a huge part of my life. The organization of the college really shows and makes it easier for students to focus on school and for the school to focus on their students. The experience, people, and the knowledge I have gained could not have happend anywhere else but Mt. SAC. Also, the sport programs that are offered at Mt. SAC are one of the best in the State. I was able to have priority regristration with cross country and track & field.
Did learn a lot I was able to make an easy transition from high school to the college lifestyle with the help of many staff and faculty members. I have taken a variety of classes that benefit my own knowledge and will contribute to my business major. While I attended Mt. SAC I learned how to correctly write an essay, figuring out word math problems, accounting tips, a new language, how to better take care of my plants and landscape, understanding the economy, language ability of infants and toddlers, and so much more. I graduated from Mt. SAC with a Language Arts Associates Degree and am transfering CSU Bakersfield.

Categories Comments Great for these types of students Determined students, those looking to transfer to a 4 year University, or those looking for an associates. A lot of students tend to think college will be easy, just be careful not to slack off or fall behind. Mt. Sac offers university tours, scholarships, and tons of help for those trying to transfer to a 4 year institution.
Tips for prospective students Get to class several hours early the first week. You don't need a parking pass the first 2 weeks during a regular semester and during the first week during an intersession. Also, try to get into a program that gives you priority registration. Such as DSPS, EOPS, connect4, join a sport, or music program. It's nearly impossible to get classes without priority registration. If you can't apply to these programs it's necessary to stalk to registration page until you can get on a wait list. If you can't even get on a wait list, just show up to the class. A lot of professors are nice and will add you to the class anyways. Make sure you apply for financial aid ASAP.
Bang for the buck Definitely worth your money. Usually, the state will waive the tuition fee. Since you pay approx. $36 per unit, tuition is cheap and worth while. Besides, your health fee provides you with discounts around campus. Also, Mt. Sac offers a gym that has really cheap membership. And, for around $70 they'll determine your body fat percentage. They're one of the few places around that has a hydro static tank. One downside is food around campus tends to be a little overprices. Also, a lot of classes provide access to a lab where the computer software is very helpful for studying.
Am enjoying being here It's fun; however, parking can be very difficult. Especially during the first few weeks of school. It's also difficult to get classes and sometimes you can't even be a full time student because there isn't enough classes available. But, Mt. Sac offers a variety of clubs and different opportunities to get involved with your community. There's always something happening on campus if you're bored.
Am learning a lot Professors tend to be very good. As long as you do the work you're going to learn a lot. There are several different departments that are very willing to offer their assistance. Including tutors who will proof read your essays and help with math/science questions. All professors offer office hours which allow you to go ask questions and get extra help in person. I recommend taking at least 1 PE or Health class at Mt. Sac. Also, Mt. Sac has one of the best dance programs around.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police are constantly patrolling the grounds.
Greek Life Not too sure what greek life means.
Clubs and Activities Too many to list!
Great for these types of students Easy going, fun, hardworking and artistic.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is the wildlife sanctuary that you can visit. There is also a farms full of various animals, and pond-like sanctuary where there are coy fishes and the campus is beautiful and so are the people that go there.
Bang for the buck Mt. Sac has so many awesome programs and features to offer it's students. We are very lucky to have an abundance of things offered to us as students.
What to do for fun Make friends with anybody! Attend the social gatherings. Visit the part of the school where they have a farm and coy fishes. Also visit the wildlife sanctuary! It's fantastic!! We are very lucky for this.
Tips for prospective students Stick with your counselors. They will help you to stay on top of your classes so that you can transfer out as soon as possible.
In three sentences Mt. Sac has amazing teachers, amazing students and the campus is beautiful. Although the campus food is very overpriced and the tuition is absurd, i am still very satisfied with the school. I just wish the school's agenda could be more focused on the benefit of the students rather than making money. Thank you.

Categories Comments Campus Safety if you have caught yourself taking that 7pm-10pm class, do not worry. you can get escorted to your car by our escort services. there are also strategically located emergency response campus security stations, help will come your way immediately.
Greek Life none
Clubs and Activities i am part of the gay club on campus, and we do a lot of activities within campus and outside campus. other clubs do similar work, just join one of them!
Great for these types of students if you are an athlete: this school is amazing at getting you a sports scholarship
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is shared tradition around campus to check your professor on ratemyproffesor.com we have a lot of faculty, make sure to know what sort of workload you will getting into for 16 weeks!
Bang for the buck the tuition might be going up, but that is still way less that anything you will be paying at a cal state or a uc. the majority of these professors teach at such institutions, so you are getting your education for a lesser price, its just an amazing deal.
What to do for fun student association always has events running throughout the semester. joining clubs around campus is a must, they are quite active and a community within itself. sports is another great option, our athletes are top notch.
Food and Dining brown bag your food or drive across the street to eat. the food here is vile and will make you break out and gain 10 pounds at best.
Dorm Life no dorms. you gotta commute
Academic Rigor there are very hard classes in campus. if you are in the stem classes, those are a challenge.
Tips for prospective students this is a community college, but it is still a nice community to become a part of. best piece of advice is to learn how to become part of the school and become active. do not just come for class, take advantage of the campus and its people.
In three sentences the campus is really big, so you will be doing a lot of walking if you're taking unrelated classes. as far as the people are concerned, everyone is really nice. additionally, the professors are knowledgeable and the school provides good academic help services.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities I was a part of the Accounting and Finance Club for many years and loved it. Teaches you have to money manage and engage with others. Typically clubs do work that help and benefit both he school and community which is always rewarding for everyone who participates.
What to do for fun There are many things nearby to do for fun.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to join a club and become active. It makes school life a bit more fun and it's a great way to make friends and future contacts.
In three sentences I loved it here at Mt. San Antonio College. The campus is lovely and outdoors and the community is safe. I have never had a bad experience before.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Crime is average to any other campus. It is in a largely suburban upscale area. Theft is the most common crime, and even then it's minimal.
Greek Life No actual fraternities or sororities, only academic clubs.
Clubs and Activities Many.
Great for these types of students With a serious goal to transfer to a good school.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well what is unusual is that for a two year college it has a planetarium, a recently installed large telescope, new science and math facilities, new design facility, an Olympic sized swimming pool, and collegiate and Olympic races at it's large track/stadium, and the only school in California to offer air traffic control degrees to qualify for FAA air traffic controller positions with recommendation. Competes with four year schools for flying competitions as well.
Bang for the buck Fees are low, and if you are a mid to low income California resident you qualify for CA Governor's Fee Waiver, which brings fees to almost nothing, pay maybe $20-$60 depending on the semester. The textbooks is what costs you.
What to do for fun Hike and jog, since we are surrounded by hills and trails! You can also go to the on campus planetarium shows, take swimming in the Olympic sized swimming pool, or take any kinesiology class.
Food and Dining I gave three stars, though I don't particularly think the food on campus is great, there are good dining options right across the street from campus. A lot of Asian eateries, and smaller restaurants.
Dorm Life No dorms, it's a commuter school.
Academic Rigor The courses offered vary in difficulty. I've taken some very easy courses and then there are courses in advanced math, accounting, computer science, and physical sciences that are more difficult.
Tips for prospective students Come and get involved with student clubs, activities, but follow the flow charts provided and do good work. It's not difficult to get a good GPA in order to transfer to a top notch school.
In three sentences Good value college for student seriously considering transferring. It is one of the largest two year colleges I have seen and offers the most classes in Southern California. There is a lot of support for students.

Dorm Life i do not live on campus
Academic Rigor the academic classes are taught by great teachers and the material is up to date.
Tips for prospective students register as soon as possible, classes fill up fast
In three sentences i enjoy the campus and the courses that are offered in my field. the transfer program is easily accessible and the counselor's are handy and helpful. the campus is clean conveniently close and the teachers i have had are dedicated.

Categories Comments Campus Safety i believe their could be more campus safety.
Greek Life i have no knowledge of this.
Clubs and Activities there are multiple clubs for students to join and enjoy based on their interests or academic goals.
Great for these types of students students with disabilities, those returning to college after long absences, or those looking to explore their career goals.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there are none that i know of.
Bang for the buck for only being a community college, you receive a quality education for a lot less than you would pay at a university.
What to do for fun there are plenty of different clubs to join at mt. san antonio college and ways to get involved in the community as well.
Food and Dining the dining available is not spectacular. it is either cafeteria style food or fast food like carl's jr. however there are a lot of close-by food places off campus to enjoy.
Dorm Life there are no dorms or on-campus living available and mt. san antonio college.
Academic Rigor the classes offered are challenging but nothing more than the average hard-working student can handle. accommodations are available for students with disabilities of all kinds to ensure their success in academics.
Tips for prospective students utilize the resources available to students, whether that be financial aid, tutoring, the health center, etc.
In three sentences mt. san antonio college is a great place for students. they offer a wide variety of education programs and majors. the student resources available are very helpful.

Categories Comments Food and Dining there are a lot of restaurants near by mt. sac. don't really eat on campus cause it's so expensive. but across the street of mt. sac there's a lot of options you can go choose from.
Dorm Life mt. san antonio college is a community college so there are no dorms. although mt. sac students are able to dorm at the same place as cal poly students.
Academic Rigor just like all the classes in any school it depends on what professor you have. a lot of the science classes are pretty rigorous so be on top of all your work.
Tips for prospective students never slack off always be on top of things. always as the professor for help and go to their after hours, they're always there to help you when you ask.
In three sentences i like the diversity of the school. the counselors are always helpful. and the professors always make time for you.

Categories Comments Clubs and Activities i happen to be involved with the creative writing club located at this school. i was searching forever (through the list of 10 pages of clubs) and finally wound up finding this one and signed up immediately!
Bang for the buck i personally love how easy it is to enroll, register, and pay for classes. i have had trouble at other schools (ie: paper work lost, forms ruined). so this is a nice transition for myself.
What to do for fun i enjoy spending my free time wisely between classes. the library is stacked with all kinds of books and the student center is the place to be when out of class. there is a gaming system, along with ping pong tables, and a piano. it's just a fun hang out place to wind down.
Food and Dining the food choices are kind of limited, but thankfully there are plenty of restaurants right across the street from the school. it's a nice walk in between classes and for lunch break.
Dorm Life i would give the dorm life a 4 out of 5 stars, but i do not live on campus.
Academic Rigor i feel that i have gained great insight along with experience. everything i have learned here thus far will help me in my career field and once i transfer over to a csu i can continue to use the knowledge i have gained here.
Tips for prospective students always buy a parking pass ahead of time or you will be paying by the hour from the meter. try to get classes ahead of time as they fill up quickly each semester. last but not least, bring water to class as walking up those hills to class can be rigorous.
In three sentences i absolutely love this school! all of the teachers are nice and very informative about each subject that they teach. i am gaining a great education by attending mt. sac!

Categories Comments Campus Safety campus security is constantly patrolling campus grounds to ensure maximum student safety. also, i have taken many night classes, and can say that i have never felt threatened during my enrollment at mt. sac. public safety officers are working on campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. if any student is concerned about their safety, they can call campus security any time on their cell phone or public pay phones that are located all over campus.
Greek Life there are two main greek societies here at mt. sac. the highest honor society is phi theta kappa (ptk), which provides all kinds of support for it's members. ptk provides scholarship opportunities and volunteering experiences. another honor society is alpha gamma sigma (ags). ags also provides many benefits such as volunteering experiences.
Clubs and Activities clubs and activities help in making friends and networking. mt. sac has numerous clubs (over 50) that provide new learning experiences. i guarantee that there is a club that will suit everyone, ranging in cultural, general interest, religious, vocational, special needs, and scholastic clubs.
Great for these types of students mt. sac is great for students who are undecided in their major or who want to save some money.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus i have not yet come across anything too unusual.
Bang for the buck college is expensive period. mt. sac recently raised their fees to $35 per unit. on top of this, books are also very expensive. i suggest buying books online as early as possible, because you can get the best deals online. you can also rent books for a lower price. i highly recommend signing up for financial aid, cal grants, or applying for scholarships. it will save you tons of money and you will not regret it!
What to do for fun there are many clubs on campus that partake in fun activities. some of these activities include competitive sports, volunteering, hosting events, and field trips.
Food and Dining mt. sac has reasonable choices when it comes to food and dining. food is a little overpriced, but i can't expect anything less from a college campus. there is a carl's junior and a few other mini restaurants located all over the campus. they recently opened up a new restaurant that is similar to subway, which promoted healthier food.
Dorm Life unfortunately, mt. sac does not have their own dorms. however, there are many housing opportunities within a reasonable radius from the campus.
Academic Rigor there have been rumors that certain classes at mt. sac are more challenging than that of some universities. i believe these rumors are true. not only have i confirmed this rumor with former mt. sac students who are now attending a university, but i have also experienced these classes myself. i must say, that in taking classes at mt. sac, i feel more than well-prepared for my exciting new journey to a university.
Tips for prospective students some tips for prospective students are to join clubs and honor's societies as soon as possible! being in a club and/or honor society will provide huge benefits through volunteering experiences and social networking. also, check out ratemyprofessor.com so that you can get an idea of how the class is structured and the professor's teaching methods. keep in mind that this website contains student opinions and not facts, which may result in coming across biased responses. you will sometimes find that you will love a particular professor while another student does not.
In three sentences mount san antonio college has made me confident in my preparation to transfer to a university. they have very intelligent professors as well as knowledgeable staff members. i am very thankful to have had the honor in attending this community college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety at mt. san antonio there are multiple emergency phones that are available for any student to use in an emergency. the school is constantly testing the alarms to make sure they are in working order.
Clubs and Activities the school provides a variety of clubs for students to join.
Great for these types of students people who are looking for careers in aviation or sign language.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus an unusual tradition at mt. sac is when students cheer for their school at tournaments and games, they begin to chant sac sac sac!
Bang for the buck the school has many clubs that students are able to join and there are always different activities that the school provides that are very simple to join.
What to do for fun at mt. san antonio it is fun to go to the student life center to participate in the activities that are occurring there like the wii tournaments that are held there.
Food and Dining the food and dining is a little bit expensive but it is worth the taste and quality.
Dorm Life mt. san antonio does not provide dorms.
Academic Rigor the teacher and administrators are very kind.
Tips for prospective students students should expect to do a lot of exercise well trying to get around the school, and to have a great learning experience.
In three sentences mt. san antonio is a great student-friendly school. they provide multiple tutoring programs for all the students. the school has a very friendly atmosphere where people feel welcome.

Categories Comments Campus Safety There has been an increase in the level of campus security in the past few years, not because campus has become less safe, but because the safety department wants to be prepared for every situation. The safety department at Mt Sac is an offshoot branch of the L.A. county sheriff's department so you will never need to worry about whether you are safe or not.
Greek Life Greek life on campus is well known for giving students the upper hand in finding new opportunities to expand their horizons. Greek life also offers its own scholarship program.
Clubs and Activities There are so manty clubs on campus that it is hard to keep up, which is great for students who are not sure what they want to do outside of school. No matter what you have an interest in, there is probably a club for it at mt. sac
Great for these types of students Mt sac is great for students who are looking for a college process that is easy to understand and for anyone who is looking for a quality education rather than one that is based on quantity
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Sports is a big thing at Mt Sac and one tradition that has been held every year since 1948 is the Mt Sac invite for cross county running and the world famous Mt Sac relays in the spring for track and field athletes. Some of the worlds most famous track athletes have competed at mt sac and it is a tradition celebrated every year.
Bang for the buck Because there are so many students at mt sac the school is able to offer the lowest prices of any other community college in the area, not to mention that we have a lot more on our campus than other schools do. Full time enrolment depends on how many units you take but you will not find a better education for the price anywhere
What to do for fun If you can think of it, we have it. Sports at mt sac are second to none and there are so many other activities to do on campus. The student life center is a large building on campus dedicated to help students pass the time with activities such as board games, video games and much more. There are also a countless number of student clubs, from flying club to student government we have it all
Food and Dining You will not have trouble finding food all around campus. Weather your into fast food or healthy eating the restaurants around Mt Sac have it all. Including foods from many different cultures.
Dorm Life Being a community college means there are no dorms on campus but there is a program to share dorms with nearby Cal Poly Pomona for students who wish to live on their own.
Academic Rigor No matter what you want to be when you grow up, you can start it at Mt. Sac. Academic rigor usually depends on what you are trying to major in but as long as you stay focused and determined you will love it here, it is college after all.
Tips for prospective students Although Mt SAC is very inexpensive it always helps to get some scholarship money. Mt SAC has its very own scholarship program and the best thing you can do is to apply apply apply. For incoming students it would also be wise to get involved in sports or clubs. There are a lot of students here so try to get involved in something that will give you priority registration, and once you have it you will never need to worry about getting the classes you need, and don't worry, there are plenty of sports and clubs that will allow you to have priority registration.
In three sentences Talk about Bang for your buck, not only does Mt SAC offer the most academic programs but this school offers the best academic and athletic programs in the country as far as community colleges go. Mt San Antonio College is ranked as the number one community college in the United States. If you live in the southern California area you would be a fool not to come here.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus is safety is because security is always driving up and down the parking lot watching for anything.
Greek Life They do have a couple Fraternities and Sororities, but I don't know much about them.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I don't know any unusual traditions on campus.
Bang for the buck I like the school in my opinion. It's beautiful to look at. After construction, it will be even more beautiful to look at. I'd say attend Mount SAC, get an apartment with some of your friends to make rent cheaper, and play a sport at the school. School will be fun to experience.
What to do for fun I play Baseball at Mt. SAC, so the most fun for me is playing baseball every single during the year. Other than that, we like to go to the movies, swimming at the apartments, go to Angel's stadium to watch a baseball game. There is so much to do because we are in the center of a lot of cities and it never gets boring.
Food and Dining My parents live in San Bernardino, so I don't have my parents buying and making me food every single day and meal. I buy my own groceries and it is pretty awesome. I get what I want to eat, but I have to pay for it.
Dorm Life I live in apartments near the 57 freeway off Temple ave. I live with 5 roommates in a two bedroom apartment, so we can all save as much money possible. I love it here at The Crest/Eaves Apartments.
Academic Rigor I think the professors are all awesome in my opinion. I have been here for one year now and I haven't had a problem with any teachers. Do the homework and study for the tests.
Tips for prospective students Buy a parking pass early because you will get a ticket if you dont and paying 33 dollars in the worst thing. Encourage a prospective student to play a sport at Mt. SAC, so you get priority registration for all the classes.
In three sentences Mount SAC is a very gorgeous campus. I was very surprised when I first came to visit in the summer of 2011. I would give this school a 4/5 in rating.

Categories Comments Campus Safety The campus is a very safe environment. Campus security is constantly patrolling the campus making sure the students and faculty are safe.
Clubs and Activities Mt. SAC has plenty of opportunities for clubs and activities such as football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, cross country, track and field, forensics team, theater, band, dance, just to name a few.
Great for these types of students This campus is great for all types of students. Due to it's inexpensive tuition, it is a great way for students who do not know what they want to major in to figure out their interests for an exceptionally cheaper cost than at a four-year institution. Also, for those students who do know what they want to major in, they can also attend school at Mt. SAC to save money on their general education classes. Mt. SAC offers great transfer opportunities to very prestigious institutions.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus For those activists, there is an area where you can go and discuss with other people the problems of society or particular disagreements that you may have with societal concepts. Also, there is a theater room where guest speakers are invited from all over the nation to come and speak to the students about any topic ranging from academic achievement and social issues. Also this theater room is also home to our theater department where they organize plays where our students can attend and enjoy.
Bang for the buck Mt. SAC is actually very inexpensive when compared to other academic institutions nearby. The classes are very affordable, and Mt. SAC also offers plenty of financial aid options for students to save even more.
What to do for fun There are numerous extracurricular activities that people are able to become involved in. There is a game room where people who enjoy playing video games can go and play Playstation or X-Box and plenty of other arcade games, and I believe this is also a pool table. Also, if you just like to relax, there is plenty of grass areas where people can sit under a tree and read, take a nap; a lot of people bring their guitars and play between classes.
Food and Dining The food there is very good. They are actually currently in the process of opening a new food chain within the dining area at the school, and the best part about it is that the students get to decide what the new restaurant will be, so you know it is going to be good. Mt. SAC has a huge dining area for people to sit indoors or outdoors under numerous trees that provide plenty of shade during those hot southern California days.
Dorm Life I do not believe that Mt. SAC currently has dorms because it is a community college and is considered more of a commuter school.
Academic Rigor Many of Mt. SAC's teaching staff are also teachers at accredited universities, and they teach their classes no different. Therefore, some of the classes can be difficult, especially during the home stretch of the semester when finals are around the corner. But consider it another benefit that the school offers, because if the teachers were not hard on you then they would not be doing their job in preparing you for the rigors of a university.
Tips for prospective students Get involved in the school by joining clubs or other extracurricular activities. It is very important to keep you motivated and willing to excel in your education. Students that do not participate in club or other organizations tend to become disinterested in school and are most likely to fail or drop out. Plus you will meet a lot of new people and make a lot of new friends.
In three sentences Mount San Antonio College is a great school for students who are unsure of their intended field of study and are looking to explore numerous fields to find their interests. Mt. SAC is filled with great teachers, some with outstanding national awards, that are very willing to assist you in your academic endeavors. Also, Mt. SAC has won national championships in athletics and clubs events.

Tips for prospective students I would just encourage everybody to be social and not shy. Specially because its college and people tend to make mistakes when it comes to handling different situations in a mature way.
In three sentences I personally think that the people are the ones that make this college a very socialized place. It makes me feel comfortable with the people that have good intentions towards others. Also The campus itself is incredible and with plenty of space.

Categories Comments Food and Dining There are Carl's, Starbucks, and dining at Mt. SAC. However, it does not bring appetite so high compare with the food-store outside the campus.
Dorm Life At Mt. SAC, they do not have dorm. However, many students rent a room in houses or apartments around the campus. And, many students get a new experience by it.
Academic Rigor At Mt. SAC, the academic rigor is well-developed and give a strong foundation, especially, the science based academic.
Tips for prospective students The first thing to do is meeting a counselor. They can help you to plan out your academic goals and give you some good advices while you are taking classes. Second is to check each program and club that you can fit in. Many programs that Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) offered are designed to help you not just in your academic but also in your surrounded life. In other hands, the clubs are the place you can meet many students that can be helpful in the future. And, lastly, it is good to spend a few hours with the professors. Let them to know you because in the future their recommendation letters can help you to transfer into great university or get scholarship.
In three sentences Mt. San Antonio College is a great college where staffs and professors like to help students reach their academic goals. There are a lot of great clubs that could bring a new color while attending the college. Also, they have sophisticated programs that help student to transfer into four-years university.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety has progressively been increasing. This last year there were fewer disturbing events. However, there is still a high car vandalism rate. The chances of one being robbed is slim, but one might lose an valuable if left in the car and exposed to sight.
Greek Life I have being attending Mt. SAC for three years, I have only met one Greek. He seemed to be enjoying his stay here. He did mention that the food was not very palatable and was thrilled when I told him there is a Greek food day in the Cafeteria every spring. However, apart from this I do not know mush else.
Clubs and Activities Activities are few; clubs are many. Yet, I am not able to elaborate as I do not belong to any club and have not participated in any activities.
Great for these types of students If you are a fully study-focused person or a health-related major (particularly nurse, doctor, vet, and other similar careers), this campus is for you. There are not may fun activities to do. Most events are political, yet some are theatrical. In addition, the two major buildings on campus have a hospital look and feel to them. Therefore, one will either like the notion that is created by this environment or will severely dislike it. For me, I am a vet major, so i am becoming accustom to it, but when I first started attending, I sincerely felt depressed on my when to English class, especially since it was held on the ground level of building 26.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Most people consider the Barn as unusual since most do not know there is one and/or have never been there. There is actually a farm day in which many of the agriculture students turn the farm into a petting zoo for students to come a visit and play.
Bang for the buck Despite some of the outrageous prices found on campus, for the education Mt. SAC offers, it is worth attending to acquire an AA, AS, certification, or transferable units.
What to do for fun There is not much do to for fun. There is a small lounge were there are ping-pong tables and TVs. Most of the campus is academic focused, however.
Food and Dining The dining is not that great. There is a Carl's Jr. located on campus if one likes to eat burgers. Apart from that, the cafeteria does not serve every delicious meals, and the times they do, it is extremely expense, $8 or $10 for a simple pizza or burrito that cost $4-$6 across the street. In addition, there are many snack shops located around campus. They are diverse but also expensive.
Dorm Life I personally do not know dorm life as I live off campus. Yet I do that the dorms are located on Cal Poly Pomona's campus, so the commute to campus is a short vehicle drive or ride or a long walk up and down a steep hill.
Academic Rigor Most courses teach the materiel one needs to know. Many of the instructors also do an excellent job in testing their students comprehension on lecture topics. Few instructors assign busy work, but most assign homework that is sure to aid one in learning and mastering the material.
Tips for prospective students One should be patient. Transitioning from high school or work can be difficult. The primary struggle one encounters as a starter is attaining classes. Choose early morning classes (7:30 a.m.) or night classes (7:00 p.m.). Also, target the classes less in demand, such as dancing, art, culinary, some foreign languages, and physical education. Although these courses may not directly assist one in acquiring his or her degree, it will get one an earlier registration date that can be used to enroll in important classes such as English and math. I commenced with French and theater. They were not very useful for my major but aided me in getting a good registration date.
In three sentences Many of the professors are student-oriented by offering office hours, additional study sessions with the themselves or supplemental instructors, and comprehension sheets. The campus is well organized with each department having its own building or share a building with related departments. However, class sizes are restricted to twenty to thirty five students, so most students struggle to get any class.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Mt. SAC takes safety seriously! If you want they will walk you to your car. When we have predator associated issues on campus they are quick to alert students and faculty. Be sure to sign up for the alerts.
Bang for the buck Definitely fill out your FAFSA it is a student's best friend.
What to do for fun I do not have fun.
Food and Dining There is a Carl's Jr., a campus cafe, and plenty of stores on campus. Off campus there are endless options for dining. The Krazy Noodle is YUM if you like Thai cuisine.
Dorm Life There are no dorms. There is The Village but I have never been there.
Academic Rigor They are reasonable in every aspect.
Tips for prospective students If you're planning to go to Mt. SAC join the honors program; you will meet some of the best professors and peers.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Carl's Jr. and the Green Burrito are alright fast food chain restaurants- if you like, then you like it. Mt. SAC has a variety of vending machines with my favorite being the coffee and hot coco one. If your on campus late at night or early in the morning, the coffee warms you right up and gives you a little pep in your step.
Dorm Life There isn't a dorm life- because there aren't any dorms.
Academic Rigor The academic rigor is excellent, especially in the science and math departments. Mt. SAC is particularly well known for its agriculture program, but they have an excellent engineering one as well. The professors have plenty of experience to teach their students.
Tips for prospective students Study for the assessments- if you do well, you can save a lot of money by not having to take courses you may already have taken in high school. Take the online orientation because it saves you time and you learn a lot- knowing where things are on campus is gained not by a tour but by experience and a map. Schedule a meeting with a counselor as soon as possible- they help you through your college plans and give you great tips on saving money, potential scheduling conflicts, and transitioning from high school to college.

Categories Comments Food and Dining Mt. Sac does not have an official dinning facility; however, it does provide a verity of food vendors to offer more of a selection. The customer service provided by the vendors have always been warm and friendly with fantastic service. If one has to acquire fast food, then Mt.Sac's dinning facility is sure to fulfill your appetite needs.
Academic Rigor The education I've gained through Mt.Sac has been more than outstanding. I've also been able to fast track to be able to transfer to the college of my choice sooner. Ultimately, if one would have to attend a community college in Southern California, than Mt.Sac would would be the only logical choice.
Tips for prospective students When you first attend college you will realize that your educational environment is completely different. Your mouth begins to water after having your first taste of freedom, meaning you notice that no one cares if you attend school. The urge to skip class and spend your financial aid money on personal items becomes more tempting than ever; however, what you fail to realize is that your using state funding money which ultimately end up hurting you. Then when an unforeseen expense occurs, you will not have the money that was provided for you. My recommendation for surviving college and be able to graduate with minimum to none debts due to your education would be to: attend school full time, take advantage of your fafsa, apply for as many scholarships as your eligible and most important it to stay focused.
In three sentences Mt. Sac has been known as the Harvard of community colleges, where most students go to improve their chances of being accepted into the college of one's choice. As I notice my one year mark creeping around the corner, i realized that am contempt with the educational environment I've received from Mt.Sac. Therefore, I am eager to complete my General Education and be able to transfer to San Francisco State University, my dream school.

Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs and activities. We are known to have one of the best Speech and Debate Clubs around!
Great for these types of students Mount SAC is great for any student no matter what age, sex, race, religion, or ethnicity you are, no matter what your challenges are physically, mentally, or emotionally, this school will accomodate you.
Bang for the buck Mount SAC has been a great experience for me and I am proud to say that I have made the Dean's list and the Presidents list while attending and I could not have done it without the help of the faculty and my amazing professors. I look forward to transfering to a four year but will always remember what a great experience I had at this outstanding community college.
What to do for fun There are tons of clubs to join and events all over campus. Everywhere you turn you will see a flyer for something entertaining happening.
Food and Dining There are many places to dine all over campus as well as off campus walking distance.
Dorm Life There are no dorms available, but affordable rooms for rent are posted all over campus.
Academic Rigor All professors at this school are dedicated to ensuring that you get the top in academics. All the tutoring staff all over campus are there as well to assist you where you may be falling short. I have experienced countless times where my professors have stayed with me after class to help me with any assignment I was struggling with, and this dedication is a huge reason why I keep coming back instead of transfering to a school closer to my home.
Tips for prospective students If you are beginning at Mount SAC, make sure you utilize all that the campus has to offer. There are programs such as DSPS for disabled students, CALWorks for parents, there is even a writting center with free tutors on hand to help you with your assignments. Also always stop by the financial aid office where all the staff are friendly and will help you figure out the most cost effective way of attending this college.
In three sentences Mount San Antonio College is a great community college that has been my starting point to a great future with professors that thrive on ensuring the success of their students. The faculty are always available to lend a helping hand with any need necessary to help you succeed. There are also many programs offered at the school to help students with disabilities or set backs such as being a single parent or having a physical or mental disability, and I would recommend this college to anyone who wants to begin their journey to a better life.

Greek Life None
Great for these types of students Intelligent high school slackers.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are no traditions really, just people looking to leave as soon as possible.
Bang for the buck It is easier on the wallet than a UC or a Cal State.
What to do for fun Study, join a club, go back home.
Tips for prospective students Go in and finish everything that you had planned on getting done. This school is supposed to help you immerse yourself in what real college life is like after high school. Don't try to get Bs, go for As and view anything less as an F. When going on Ratemyprofessor, don't look for the easiest teachers available, look for the ones that will challenge you so that you can learn about the subject that you paid for.
In three sentences It's essentially everything I expected in a Community College; no long term friendships, no options for meals, etc. It's a school one goes to for the hope that transferring to a school that would not accept them after high school. Categories Comments Great for these types of students Nursing students, students who cannot afford a univeristy or private education but plan to transfer in the future, student straight out of high school who need some time to adjust to the college life before transferring to a 4-year college
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None that I know of
Bang for the buck I am currently completing my Associates Degree in Nursing and am paying very minimal tuiton ($40/unit) and book fees by attending this community college. At a private college, I could expect to pay up to $100,00 for the same education, so I am saving a large amount of money here.
What to do for fun The Pomona Fairplex is about a 15 minute drive. This is a venue where fairs, concerts and other events are often held. There are also other venues nearby where concerts are held, as well as art walks that are done in nearby Pomona.
Food and Dining Food on campus is good -- there is a cafeteria that serves different types of food, and a couple of fast food chains. A good amount of restaurants are also within walking distance or within a 5 minute drive.
Dorm Life Cannot rate, no dorms
Academic Rigor Most general education classes are fairly easy. Some, like English 1A or lower level math classes, can at times be compable to high school classes in difficulty.
Tips for prospective students Come to school early (at least 30 minutes before class) to allow sufficient time to look for parking. Also, be persistent in trying to get into the classes you want and need. If they are full, attend the first class meeting to see if other students have dropped or to get on a wait list.
In three sentences The school is a bit crowded and finding parking is sometimes frustrating. In addition, because of the amount of students attending, it can be difficult to get into classes needed to complete general education requirements, such as sciences and math classes. However, the instructors I have had so far have been very knowledgable and very willing to teach and help their students.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is good but not great. I rarely seem them. They should have campus safety on foot and bikes, not cars.
Greek Life Same as clubs and you are awarded a ring, a shirt and other fun stuff.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs for just about anything. Join one and be a part of their crazy activities.
Great for these types of students I encourage sports for everyone. Sports at Mt. SAC seems to be very rewarding and they are pampered as well. Athletes receive much better service than regular students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus NONE
Bang for the buck Unfortunately, because of several budget cuts and the recession, Mt. SAC is becoming pricey. Books are above 100 dollars each and the tuition is also expensive. Parking is impossible and the food is expensive. BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH, TAKE THE BUS AND FIND YOUR BOOKS ELSEWHERE.
What to do for fun Attend other classes that you are not registered too. That is pretty much it. Unless you like Paddle ball or watching t.v. all day.
Food and Dining Though Mt. SAC may have an abundance of career choices, the food and dining are horrible. Snack shops are overpriced and the restaurants are also overpriced. The cafeteria is probably the best dining place they have. If you want food at good prices, GET OUT OF CAMPUS. Better food at great prices.
Dorm Life I do not know the dorm life for I have never done it.
Tips for prospective students It may seem like a university at first, but do not be intimidated. Come with a positive attitude and hold your head up high, because Mt. SAC rewards achievers. If you are unsure, take a few classes and explore the campus. If still not satisfied, Mt. SAC will always welcome you back.
In three sentences Mt. San Antonio College is not a college but a place of possibilities where people are the boss. Mt. San Antonio College gives you a clear path to your career choice and more. Mt. San Antonio College is well known across the United States.

Great for these types of students Any type of students there is not single type. The campus is so big that everyone has there place.
Bang for the buck The unit cost of 45 dollars is very reasonable.
What to do for fun There is not a lot to do at Mt.sac. The student body tries to have events but they do not have a big turn outs.
Food and Dining The food is just below average school food or nothing but fast food choices.
Dorm Life The school does not have a lot of dorm options.
Academic Rigor It is very challenging depending on the class, and of course some teachers are harder then others.
Tips for prospective students My tip to new students would be to just work hard and get to school early to find parking.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Mount San Antonio College is one of the safest colleges in the nation for it has its own police department on campus. These officers are called Mt. SAC Public Safety Officers but are licensed officers of the law. They not only uphold the law, but also provide an escort service for any student who is unwilling to walk around the campus alone due to fear of being attacked. The campus also has stations called Blue Light Emergency Stations throughout the campus. If a person on campus is in danger and needs help fast, they will press the button on the station which will trigger the blue light to flash brightly and repeatedly while an operator will be on the line through the station to talk to the person and ask them where they are located and what is the danger they have encountered.
Greek Life There is no Greek Life on this campus.
Clubs and Activities The school has many clubs and activities featured for students to participate in. Some of these clubs are the caduceus club, various sports teams, and the fire academy.
Great for these types of students Any students with disabilities should have no fear when choosing to attend this college for the school offers many services to assist these special individuals like transportation, Sorenson's Video Relay Services for the deaf, chiropractic for the students with physical disabilities that call for chiropractic, and much more.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus An unusual tradition on campus is the Wii Sports Tournament. Starting a few years back, the school holds an annual Wii Sports Tournament to see who is the most VIRTUALLY fit person.
Bang for the buck Even with the rise of cost per unit a student takes, the teachers at this establishment are quite simply some of the best that you will find at any college. They work with all students one on one if requested to. They do not bring anything but their best to work everyday.
What to do for fun The campus has many events and programs throughout the year to keep students entertained as well as ping pong tables, video game tournaments, and other services offered in its Student Life Center. The school also offers its students discounts to several theme parks and water parks.
Food and Dining The campus features many pit stops on campus like the WOW Cafe and Express Stop. These little stores sell a variety of foods which are quite delectable but it is the WOW Cafe that really takes the cake. It is a fast food service on campus that has quite exquisite foods. Better than you'd expect from any fast food restaurant.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at Mount San Antonio College.
Academic Rigor Mount San Antonio College has many resources available to students like labs, textbooks, tutoring services, and much more. Utilizing these resources can only help a student achieve maximum success in their collegiate endeavors.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have a place nearby the school as commuting there from a far will be very difficult.
In three sentences Mount San Antonio College is a very large collegiate institution that offers many majors. The college, even being a community college, is one of the largest in the country, however it still provides one on one assistance with any student. This college is a wonderful place to get your associates degree in whichever major you are interested in.

Categories Comments Food and Dining They have three stops which are Prime Stop, Express Stop, and Short Stops around campus. Except the Express one is closed at 10pm, the other two stops stay opened up to 8-9pm. Besides, a grand dining lounge where students can get Carl's Jr burgers, pizzas, Starbucks. There are also two ATMs inside this lounge. Don't wait to explore this campus!!!
Dorm Life I live with my parents, so about this I don't know much.
Academic Rigor Majors are various from Engineering to Biochemistry or Nursing beside English or Psychology. Professors and staffs are extremely nice, and students are welcomed at any times. There are only 40 students for each class, but science classes often go with 30 people or fewer. Therefore, students have more chances to ask questions, collaborate with others, and speak their ideas. What a great thing Mt. SAC holds!!!
Tips for prospective students -Check out the EOPS/CARE program to get priority registration date. -Keep tracks with information from the Learning Assistant Center if people are intended to be tutors. -Come to the Honors, ARISE, BRIDGE and many more programs to see how many benefits they are that students can get from those.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I have not experienced any incidents of crime or violence. Although it does happen, like it does everywhere else, crime and violence is not a huge problem here at Mt. S.A.C.
Greek Life There is unfortunately no Greek life on campus.
Clubs and Activities I am currently the Vice President of the French club and I am a member of the Interior Design Club. There are over 25 clubs to join, and every semester they have join-a-club week, which showcases many of the clubs on campus.
Great for these types of students This school is great for everyone. Mt. S.A.C. is a very diverse campus and there is somewhere for everyone to fit in at.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year there is a annual silent auction for all the lost and found items, and my friend bought and Iphone this year.
Bang for the buck There is not one thing that I regreat about coming here. The tuition is rising, however, that is happening everywhere. The teachers are great and the books aren't too expensive.
What to do for fun There is lot to do for fun on campus. There is the cafeteria and cafe to hangout with friends and there is the student life building. The student life building has video games and pool table, a ping pong table and there are always some kind of event happening there. There are tons of clubs that one could join. And locally there are many cafes and shops to go to if one gets bored on campus.
Food and Dining The food is here amazing. There is a Carl's Junior, which is delicious, however, not very nutritious. The cafeteria has three options, Italian, Mexican and sandwiches, all of which are delicious. And there is another restaurant on campus call World of Wings which is delicious. The only drawback is that there are not many nutritious food options on campus.
Dorm Life Although there is not an offical dorm for Mt. S.A.C. you can share the housing with the local university up the street, which from what I hear is really nice.
Academic Rigor You can find many of the teachers rated online and you could choose the ones that are the easiest, however, the teachers that are hard are not hard for the sake of being difficult. A vast majority of the teachers here expect a lot from their students, however, they are willing to give a lot of their time to help their students meet their standards.
Tips for prospective students I have three tips for prospective students, first, join a sport, the choir or the Forensics team. By being a part of one of these groups the student will receive priority registration. Second, join the honors program as soon as you can. The teachers in the honor program are all amazing, they usually add everyone and the honors counselor is one of the best counselors on campus. And finally, get to school a half hour early, one of the cons about being one of the biggest community colleges is that there are more cars than parking spots.
In three sentences Mt. San Antonio College, or Mt. S.A.C. is an amazing college to be a part of. I have been here three years and I have had nothing but wonderful, passionate and caring teachers. Mt. SAC is one of the biggest community colleges, one of the best and is definitely a great community college to transfer from.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Mt. SAC has a good amount of security roaming around, one being the only one riding a Segway. During the night times, there are student who volunteer to be escorts, to escort or help people to their car and make them feel safer. To me, that's amazing!
Greek Life I don't believe Mt. SAC has any sororities or fraternities. I haven't seen or heard anything about it!
Clubs and Activities Mt. SAC offers a lot of different clubs and activities. I, myself am involved in the Society of Physics Students club: The Robotics Team. This team builds robots and compete with different colleges. I'm not a physics major, but I'm still welcome in the club. They also have the Caduceus club, which is related to the medical field. It offers a lot of opportunities to everyone who wants to join in. Other clubs include the interior design club, photography club, chemistry club, and more!
Great for these types of students Mt. SAC is great for any students, but I would mostly recommend it to those who are still trying to figure out what they want to do in life or who they want to be. It's a great time to test the waters and take different classes to see what really sparks an interest in them.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's a fountain across the library where you can find just the most unusual mix of groups. But in summary, a lot of people call it the smoker's section. There is a part of the school called The Miracle Mile, which is a long road that lead from one end of the campus to the other. I like it because it's easier to meet up with your friends by saying meet me at the mile.
Bang for the buck Mt. SAC is very cheap compared to other colleges out there. They offer financial aid. Make sure you apply for FAFSA, Cal grants, BOG, and also several scholarships. You never know what you'll get unless your try!
What to do for fun Mt. SAC has a lot of fields. If you take a p.e. class, you'll be able to use those fields! That is, if you register for the athletic sports. As for me, I took aerobics and yoga and I loved every minute of it. Yoga was calm and relaxing while in aerobics, we were able to go out to the track across the street and run laps, or even go to the hills across the street as well to hike. One of the hills is called poop out hill. Mt. SAC also has the wildlife sanctuary offered to mostly the Bio/science classes for entrance. It's a pretty amazing place where you see nature all around, swamps, ponds, birds, and just imitation wildlife.
Food and Dining Mt. SAC offers several different choices. In the cafeteria, they have pizzas, pastas, Mexican food, Subway-like sandwiches, and Carl's Jr. They also have Wow at the Mountie Grill, which offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's a little bit on the pricey side to me, but I've heard the food tastes good. There are also a lot of seats/benches open for people looking for a place to dine. There are also campus cafes located around campus where they offer Starbucks Coffee, pastries, chips, candies, packed sandwiches/lunch, salad, sushi, and more!
Dorm Life I have no dorm life experience at Mt. SAC considering I only live less than half an hour away from campus. I do, however, know that Mt. SAC and Cal Poly Pomona share apartment complexes. I haven't heard anything negative about it just yet.
Academic Rigor Mt. SAC really wants you to succeed. They want you to be able to pass all your classes with at least a C or better. They put people on probation if they have failed classes multiple times. They want what's best for the students, especially being full time. Not all the professors or classes are hard. But if you do your best, you'll make it to the top.
Tips for prospective students Be involved! Join clubs and make yourself known. Don't be a stranger, and get to know your professor, but make sure they get to know you too. I was shy during my first semester at Mt. SAC. But once I got comfortable and I started liking my classes/professors, I wanted to do all that I could to make sure I have a good reputation. Who knows, someday you'll be asking for recommendation letters! Take extracurricular activities that will give you benefits! Benefits such as first day priority registration. A lot of students have trouble getting the classes that they need, or even any class as long as they have one. I'm involved in choir and it gives me first day priority. I haven't had any problems getting my classes and I'm well on track with my units. I'm also in the honors program because I wanted to challenge myself and try something different. I'm ready to graduate and transfer!
In three sentences Mt. SAC was a great school, in my opinion. Most of my professors were great and helped me succeed in class. It's a huge campus, but not big enough where you'll get lost.

Categories Comments What to do for fun There are many different sports on campus, that students can go and cheer on the Mountaineers to victory.
Food and Dining Mt. Sac has a few dining places to eat. They are a little pricy, so I would suggest to save money to bring a lunch or snack.
Dorm Life Mt Sac does not have dorms of their own, but there are dorm opportunites a mile away across the street from Cal Poly Pomona that Mt. Sac students can live in.
Academic Rigor Mt. Sac's academic rigor is really good. They are there to make sure their students become successful.
Tips for prospective students I would advise prospective students to make sure that they go and see a counselor and declare a major. I would also advise them to have their paperwork filled out and be patient, because it does take time for things to be proccessed.
In three sentences Mt. Sac is a great school to attend. They are very helpful towards their students reach success. I would recommend students to go there and be successful.

Categories Comments Campus Safety If you feel unsafe feel free to call campus security and they will gladly escort you to your car and wait until you leave.
Greek Life None. (that I'm aware of)
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a hidden Starbucks on campus which is located in the science buildings.
Bang for the buck Community college is no doubt cheaper than a university! Apply for as much help as you can and you may not even have to spend more than $5. Do visit the financial aid office at least once a week to follow up with your FAFSA and BOG waiver. You should know that Mt. Sac now distributes your FAFSA money through a company called higher one, if you don't want to be stuck paying weird fees when using this card make sure to link your own bank account; however, you do need to activate the higher one card in order to receive your money.
What to do for fun CLUBS! There are many clubs to join and you can even come up with your own if you'd like.
Food and Dining There are a few fast food places to eat around the school. On campus there is a Carl's Jr. but that's it. A five minute drive down Grand Ave. you'll find In N Out, Panera Bread, Chipotle, etc.
Dorm Life Unfortunately there are no dorms because this is a community (commuter) college; although, there are some apartments down the street from Mt.Sac available for rent.
Academic Rigor Academically this is a very good community college to attend because the classes are an average 20-32 people. So the professor will definitely remember who you are and will be able to work with you. Just make yourself stand out.
Tips for prospective students If you plan to attend show up at least an hour early to find parking, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. Always have an up to date parking permit or you WILL get a ticket. You can purchase the permits at the Bursur's office for $20. Also, if you're trying to add a class but don't get any luck the first day go the second and third day because you never know.
In three sentences Mt. San Antonio is definitely the college you want to attend if you're struggling financially. This school has a great atmosphere and friendly people. Although, there is a lot of people who smoke.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus safety is great. There are campus safety call phones all over campus. Campus security constantly roams the campus and are easy to get a hold of. There is also a Mt. SAC alarm system where students can sign up online with their phones to auto-receive texts if there is some sort of emergency on or near campus.
Greek Life As with a lot of clubs and a large community college as ours, social life is outstanding. There are tons of students and faculty to get involved with in addition to clubs and activities.
Clubs and Activities There are numerous clubs on campus such as the Alpha Gamma Sigma club which is a volunteer and honors club and also the Fire Tech club just two name two. There are plenty of club and non-club related activities that go on during the month. One of the popular activities is the shows at the planetarium.
Great for these types of students This college is for everyone, what college isn't; however, Mt. SAC is top rate for high transfer rate to other universities so this place is definitely for those that plan on transferring as well as those that just want to obtain a certificate or associates degree.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus An unusual location on campus is called Miracle Mile. It's basically a stretch of sidewalk pavement from one end of the college to the opposite end. Everyone calls it miracle mile because it really is at least a mile long and that's the main route that most students walk across.
Bang for the buck The price for all community colleges in Southern California is relatively the same, unit wise so it's definitely cheaper than going straight to a Cal-State or university. With the amount of classes Mt. SAC offers, the diverse number of professors, and extracurricular activities this college offers, you definitely get your bang for the buck.
What to do for fun There are plenty of clubs to join as well as PE classes. There is a monthly event calendar for events that clubs host such as food sales. Sometimes there will be speakers coming to speak on campus and sometimes radio stations stop by for some music fun. There is a Student Activities Center where students can relax in the lounge, watch TV, or play ping pong.
Food and Dining On campus there is a Carl's Jr., Starbucks, the Mountie Grill. The Mountie Grill serves all kinds of foods such as pizza, nachos, burritos, etc. that are fresh and cooked to order.
Dorm Life One star because this is a community college so there are no dorms nor does the school have any listings for apartments; however, there are apartments and houses for rent around the school. Some students will post listings all over campus to anyone interested.
Academic Rigor It's tough to say whether any class or school or college is hard. It all depends on the major so that is why I'm rating this as a 3 to keep it neutral. Some general education classes will be easy, some will be difficult, but it all depends on the individual. What's great about this college is the amount of classes offered so if one thinks chemistry is hard, they can take astronomy or biology instead.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of all the resources the school offers such as the library, their online databases, tutoring, and other services such as their Disabled Students Programs & Services (DSPS) to name one. Be active and join some type of program such as sports, music, arts, and/or join one of the many clubs there are on campus. Make friends and get to know your professors so that they may provide you with academic help or letters of recommendations for the future.
In three sentences This college definitely gives the feel/vibe of being in a university due to it's size and amount of resources it can provide. The professors, counselors as well as faculty truly care about their students and want them to succeed. There are also numerous opportunities given here such as specified associate degrees, sports, and certificate programs which is why Mt. SAC is an awesome community college.

What to do for fun There are a lot of fun clubs and extra curricular activities students can participate in. Also through out the year there are different on campus festivities and celebrations that all students are welcome too :) It's awesome!
Tips for prospective students Be persistent with getting classes! Even if a teacher denies you the first couple days claiming there are no spaces available, chances are people drop and if the teacher sees you are consistently showing up, he/she will consider adding you
In three sentences Mount Sac is a great school to complete the general requirements in order to transfer. The teachers and staff are informative and quite knowledgeable with material and they really help the students succeed through college.

Categories Comments Campus Safety I never hear about any crime at Mt.SAC. There's always security around and security poles in the parking lots to call for help if you ever need it.
Clubs and Activities The Mt.SAC sports teams are pretty good. If your an athlete you should really try out for a team.
Great for these types of students Students who are unsure about their major and anyone who can't afford university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a sanctuary here at Mt.SAC and its really pretty.
Bang for the buck Its a community college so of course its much cheaper than university, but be sure to apply for the BOG waiver, it helps so much in reducing your fees!
What to do for fun There's tons! Pomona is a 10 minute drive from campus, L.A. is about 45 minutes away, and there's always the beaches which are a little under an hour away.
Food and Dining Mt.SAC has plenty of dast food and small shops on campus, and even more food located at the shopping centers on Grand Avenue.

Categories Comments Campus Safety Campus police are always driving around and respond quickly to any emergency.
Greek Life None.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs here at Mt. Sac that you can join even if you are not certain you have a interest in the field the clubs tailor towards. Every year clubs compete for the club of the year award and that is a big motivation for all clubs to get involved with the community and school.
Great for these types of students Students that are not certain of what field of study they want to pursue will most likely get a great understanding once they are involved with clubs and classes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The best location to go release bowel movement is always in the math buildings as the bathrooms are the cleanest.
Bang for the buck Mt. Sac is a community college that charges about 50 dollars a unit. It is very affordable and the classes you take are worth every penny. Although the social life will be lacking since it is a community college, you will get what you want out of the education programs that set you up perfectly to succeed when you transfer to a University.
What to do for fun The best part of Mt. Sac are the various clubs and activities that you can join and meet friends with similar interest. There are campus events from time to time, but the music is not only loud, but also is always hip-hop so no one really attends these events. Your best bet would be to join a club and get involved with what you find interesting rather than the on campus events tailored for the general student body.
Food and Dining The on-campus dining experience was terrible. The foods are all over priced and filled with preservatives. As a matter of fact, the restaurants on campus are all greasy and fried foods. I would recommend driving about 2 miles to the village to get food from establishments such as In-N-Out and Chipotle.
Dorm Life There is no dorm life at the Community College. In fact there is no housing at all.
Academic Rigor I personally give it 5 stars out of 5 because I am a Nursing major and the prerequisites were mainly all science classes, such as Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology. I have also seen many students pushed to their limits in Physics and Chemistry courses, so I believe the STEM major classes are quite rigorous. However the easy humanities major classes were all really easy as the maximum unit class for humanities majors were 3 units.
Tips for prospective students I highly recommend joining different clubs that spark your interest so you have a better understanding of the major you will be transferring with. It is also very important to keep in contact with a counselor to not only plan out your prospective schedule, but also to hear about different opportunities that come and go related to community service and events related to your desired field of study.
In three sentences Mt. Sac has an excellent staff of professors that will teach you at a level of a University. The community is vibrant and there are many opportunities to get involved, such as clubs and societies. However, there are just too many students and not enough classes to actually finish prerequisites in a timely manner.
