The areas reputation can be true at times, but what is often overlooked is the amazing academics offered at this school. The professors are not only knowledgable in their field, but multiple, and they are more than happy to help any student. I am amazed by the things I have learned in just one year at this campus, and I can't wait to continue into my upper division courses.

Also, it is important to inform yourself on some of the rumors about the school such as the party school reputation. I have found that people who are uninterested in that aspect can find their own niche.

» Read MoreMake sure you are able to multitask and be able to balance a social life with academics, a lot of first time students end up having a really hard time adapting to the liberties of this school while also maintaining a good academic standing. Remember that this is a 4-year UC and it will require long hours at the library but try to make the best of what you will have here. As a senior looking back at it all, I wish I could never leave this place so enjoy it responsibly.
