Most of the professors here have very good teaching skills. Prof. Crofts is a sociology and women studies professor. I have taken both courses and learned a lot because the way she presents the material is very interesting and far from boring. Prof. Strawser teaches Philosophy which I thought was a boring subject until I took his class. He explains everything so clearly that the only way any one could fail his class is if they never showed up. Prof. Parent is very thorough with the material she presents. I took her anthropology class, and even though it's a lot of reading, I learned a lot. The other cool thing about being on the Avery Point campus is that you can learn a lot about the ocean. I took a Marine Biology course with Prof. Ebbin, and because the school is literally surrounded by the ocean, we got to collect samples from the water and we also got to collect plankton. In addition, there is a program called Project Oceanology, that is available for student access. This program is used to teach students about the ocean. They take you out on a boat and take samples of the ocean water, sediments, and marine organisms as well. Any one who attends UConn Avery Point will learn a lot, guaranteed. read full review
