    Am learning a lot

The teachers at AU not only challenge you intellectually, but they are always willing to help you outside of class whenever you need it.

    Am enjoying being here

The faculty are always nice and willing to help out. The cultural impact is awesome; there are always sporting events to see or fun activities to take part in, as well as community projects to help give back.

    Bang for the buck

As great a campus as this is, the price is about average; not cheap, but not sky-high like the popular universities like Clemson or USC.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you keep up with your schoolwork, because the professors will make sure you have something to do most of time.
    Study, study, STUDY!!!
Get to know your fellow students and faculty very well; this is a community-oriented campus, and it will only help to spend time with them.

Great for these types of students

Great for students who like small classes who like one-on-one time with their professors. Great athletic department, and good connections to local businesses and locations for class trips and internships.

    Am learning a lot

Not only do the teachers push you mentally in class, they are willing to help you with projects outside of class. They want you to succeed and will do what it takes to see you reach your goals and get closer to your calling. Opportunities to learn from working professionals are also given throughout the semester.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is beautiful with the big brick buildings all over campus and the green grassy front lawn where students socialize and play sports. It is also a campus you can feel safe at, because as a student body, we look out for each other. Its a very positive environment. The only reason this isn't five star is because if you do not have a car, there is not much you can do off campus because almost every restaurant and movie theater is about a 5-10 minute drive from campus. However, you will find a family at Anderson University and there are fun activities on campus that help you to bond with other AU Trojans.

    Bang for the buck

This school is one of the few private Christian schools that offers a lot of scholarships. Also, the quality of education, the beauty of the campus, and the overall positivity of the student body and faculty makes this a great buy. This is an educational experience that is hard to find.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Apply for scholarships early.
    2. Get your grades up! Hard work does count when it comes to scholarships! Also, working hard now will prepare you for college.
    3. Talk with the teachers of the major(s) you are considering. Make a list of what's important to you and discuss that with them.
    4. Last, but definitely not least. VISIT THE CAMPUS! You will never know if you are meant to be at a school unless you go. Believe me, you will just know if its right for you.

Great for these types of students

AU is a great fit for those who are hard workers, love fun and friends and are willing to grow and face their fears. Come visit!

    Am learning a lot

I am currently enrolled in the Visual and Performing Arts Department at AU, and I have loved every minute of it. The professors know me by name and have take time to get to know me. The class sizes are small, providing more attention from my professors and great learning experiences. The professors and administrators at Anderson University really invest in you not only in as a student, but as a maturing adult.

    Am enjoying being here

Although Anderson is a small town, my friends and I have been on countless adventures. From snowball fights in the winter to mountain climbing and frisbee in the fall, we always find something to do! Anderson is a fabulous place for people who enjoy studying peacefully outside. The campus is truly beautiful and I have enjoyed studying and playing outside on Anderson University grounds.

    Bang for the buck

While most colleges are extremely expensive and hard to accommodate financial aid, Anderson is wonderful with finding scholarships that will match your interests and provide some financial relief when it comes to paying for your degree.

    Tips for prospective students

Talk to students who are pursuing degrees you are also interested in, and ask them what they enjoy most about Anderson University. The people here are very friendly and willing to help you if you have questions!! When I first came to Anderson, I had difficulties with the location of my classes and even going to the store because I am from out of state. Even though I did not know anyone, people were kind and willing to help me when I needed it. People's kindness and generosity are one of the main reasons I came to this school.

Great for these types of students

Anderson University is great for people who are mission minded and wanting to serve and show Christ's love to other people. Anderson has a lot of opportunities for you to grow in your faith, while also having a fun and memorable learning experience during your college career.

    Am learning a lot

This school has sent a lot of useful information in my direction. The best part of it all, is that it's not just educational information, but also real life information.

    Am enjoying being here

The teachers are very personable, which wants me to be in class. Anderson also provides a large variety of students to become acquainted with.

    Bang for the buck

While Anderson University may have a large sticker price, they make money become the last issue. They offer a wide variety of scholarship opportunities, many in different areas. The financial aid department is quick and easy to get what you need and get out so that you may finish other errands, or even study!

I Love Anderson. It is a small school full of people who care. The class sizes are perfect so you can get individual attention.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you keep your grades up. Don't fail any classes. You will get familiar with the computer labs and the cookout, because of late nights and printing. You will love it there.

    Academic Rigor

The teachers know what they are talking about. AU is known for the Education Major and the Interior Design Major. The Education Department Is Nationally Acredited

    Dorm Life

The Dorms are very old but they are kept clean and nice. Pratt doesn't have but 2 outlets in the room and no outlets in the bathroom.

    Food and Dining

The Cafeteria has a variety of foods, if you do not like what they are serving you can always stick with a sandwich.

    What to do for fun

Anderson is a beautiful little town. Everything fun is on Clemson Boulevard. Many students go to the park, or tan on the lawn, go to cookout, or the mall. At night time, the biggest thing to do is go to wild wings. During football season we go to Clemson games because we do not have football.

    Bang for the buck

You get what you pay for. At AU you are paying for great teachers, good christian students, and a beautiful campus. The only problem students tend to complain about is the parking, but its not that bad.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

If a couple sits on the white benches together 3 times, they will get married before they leave AU, or right after.

Great for these types of students

Great for a person who wants individual attention in the classroom.

    Clubs and Activities

There are many clubs, most have to do with religion, some do not. Basketball is huge at AU and so is soccer.

Anderson is a great place for someone looking for a school that will provide a Christian family atmosphere. The school is continually growing and already ranks as a top private school in South Carolina. The university is a great place to really mature and grow as a Christian student.

    Tips for prospective students

Anderson isn't a place to attend if one hopes to get the big college experience. Also, 8 semester Chapel attendances is mandatory so be prepared for that.

    Academic Rigor

Anderson Provides a great academic enrichment with teachers who are willing to work with you and are passionate in the student succeeding.

    Dorm Life

The Dorms tend to be much better for girls. After freshman year, there are a lot more options for guys to live on campus. I'd give this a four for girls on campus living and a two for Guys.

    Food and Dining

The food tends to be okay, but after a while it can get repetitive. The new student center is going to provide many more options for dining on campus. A lot of people eat off campus.

    What to do for fun

There are tons of activities led by student groups and School sponsored events. Anderson really generates a family atmosphere where its really hard to get lonely. Anderson also provides a downtown with a plethora of activities. There are also tons of parks around the school.

    Bang for the buck

Anderson can be a little more pricy as its a private school. That being said, there is ample opportunity for scholarship that help offset the cost. The growth one can experience at Anderson I feel truly makes it worth it. Would be a 5 is they would lower tuition.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are several annual events that continually draw many participants. One example is a search for the mascots sword, which is hidden all around campus.

Great for these types of students

    Christian students.

    Clubs and Activities

There are so many clubs and events that I literally can't list them all. Be assured at Anderson there will be something for you.

    Greek Life

    Academic Rigor

    Bang for the buck

I received scholarships from the University which has helped tremendously in my decision to attend. It won't cost that much more to attend than a state university. I hope to even win more scholarships throughout the summer!

Great for these types of students

    Serious learners. Dedicated Christians.

I felt very safe on campus.

Anderson University is a cozy southern university that has helped me in so many ways during the past two years I have spent there. I have grown socially, mentally, and especially spiritually through great relationships with professors, friends, and many other amazing experiences and opportunities. I definitely chose the best school for me, and I could not be happier with my choice.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Get to know other students on campus as well as your professors. Let your professors know that you are willing to work hard, and if they see any way you can do better tell them to let you know.
    2. Study hard and keep up with your school work. Going to class and keeping an agenda with assignments and due dates always helps. Also, take notes in class!
    3. Don't forget to have fun. A healthy balance of school work and fun will make for a great college experience.

    Academic Rigor

I am a Psychology student, and the professors in the Psychology department are extremely challenging. As I progress in my degree, I have found the classes to increase in rigor. I spend a lot of time studying and writing to prepare for assignments and tests. I love when my hard work pays off!

    Dorm Life

My freshman year I lived in a dorm and shared a room with two other girls. The three of us shared a bathroom with three other girls. The six of us lived on a hallway with 24 other girls; can you say chaos? Although very chaotic at times, I loved it! It was like having 30 sisters! Many times we did activities together as a hallway, and we had so much fun. This past year, four of my friends and I were given the opportunity to live in a ministry house. The house is on campus still; it was located right behind campus. We could still easily walk to class and to other areas of campus. We had a blast in the house; it was so much more cozy than the dorms. Although we loved the house, we're rooming in dorms again next year. We miss the community, chaos, and excitement of the dorm.

    Food and Dining

The food at AU is not all that great, unfortunately. There are very few options in the cafeteria. The university has plans to build a new student center with outside vendors and many more options for food, but it will not be ready until the year after I graduate :(

    What to do for fun

Anderson is a rather small Southern town that does not have very much to do. Going to the movies are very popular, as well as going to dinner; There are a good many dinner options. Football games are big in the South. Clemson University is only 25 minutes away, and the University of South Carolina is only an hour and a half away. Many students enjoy going to those football games, especially the rival game between the Gamecocks and the Tigers. We have many activities on campus that are always fun. We have a Spring and Winter formal dance where the girls and guys can get dressed up and dance the night away. Athletic events are always a popular place to find students hanging out. Basketball and soccer are the two sports that Anderson University are known for. We also have many volunteer opportunities on and around campus including a benefit for our very own cancer research center at the university.

I have loved my experience here at Anderson University so far because of the individual attention you get in the classrooms, the Christian atmosphere, and the campus. The programs are amazing and fully prepare you to be the best that you can be. The faculty and professors are so willing to help you and they want you to succeed.

    Tips for prospective students

Learn how to manage your time especially between social events and academics. Determine early on if you want to study abroad because I want to do that next fall, but I started the process late so I'm running into some road blocks. Don't worry about being at college and making friends.

    Academic Rigor

It depends on what your major is, but all of the majors are manageable. People spend a lot of time in the library working on stuff, but that is what college is for. I'm an Education major and we have stuff to do but it is fun stuff, which is a good sign.

    Dorm Life

There is not a bad dorm on campus. It is all about preference. The locations are all good and RA's plan lots of fun activities.

    Food and Dining

There is something for everyone to eat because it's all about preference. There's a place where you can get homecooked meals, salad bar, pizza, grilled meals, and a coffee shop. The food is not like mom's meals, but it is good.

    Greek Life

We do not have Greek life on campus. Because of our size, I feel like having Greek life would turn our campus into a bunch of cliques. The nice thing about having them at a big school is that it brings a huge group of people together in smaller settings, but we don't have that problem at Anderson.

    Campus Safety

I have never felt unsafe on campus. Campus safety comes around and does rounds and they are always willing to help you. If there was a problem, you could go to their office or call them.

Anderson is a wonderful college that is so friendly and welcoming! The campus is beautiful, and the students are, too. The faculty is very interactive with the students and are willing to help you even outside of class -- and will even just stop to chat.

    Tips for prospective students

    1. Do know that in coming here, you are attending a Christian university with a Baptist background. God and religion are prevalent here.
    2. Don't be afraid to ask questions, even when you think they are no worth asking!
    3. Do note that the administration here does do a lot to keep up appearances. Not everything is as perfect as it seems, but it's also not as bad as this sentence sounds.

    Academic Rigor

I am an art student, so most of my work is working on art work, and the art program here is very rigorous. Most entry level academic classes are pretty easy, but I am sure they will get more difficult as they progress.

    Dorm Life

I live in a pretty quiet dorm, but I like that. We have hall events once a month. I just wish I knew/communicated with all the people on my hall a little better.

    Food and Dining

They have really improved the variety of food and the setup in the main dining hall since last semester. Most people tend to complain, but 95% there's something there that you will be willing to eat. The salad and pizza place has a wonderful salad bar, and the pizzamakers try many different toppings instead of just pepperoni/sausage/cheese.

    What to do for fun

    1. Walk around campus!
    2. There's almost always someone in the Fine Arts building. They don't mind company usually.
    3. Clemson is only 1/2 hour away.

    Food and Dining

the food is terrible. anytime someone asks me what i would change about anderson it is the food without a doubt. most of it is cold and you only have a one hour time frame to come to the cafe or else you missed a meal. they make you have a meal plan freshman year so there is no staying away from it.

    Food and Dining

it depends on the days. then again, some days are not as good as others. the bad thing is that their isn't a formula to guessing which days has good food and which days are bad. usually friday and saturday are the worst days because the school realizes that some students go home for the weekend. therefore the cafeteria gathers what left overs they had for the rest of the week and put it all together. they do serve good food when there are tours going on during the semester. those days are good.

    What to do for fun

hang out with friends, play frisbee, ect. they hold student events which are fun for those who live on campus. other than that, there isn't that much to do. they are building a future student center that is suppose to hold a lot of promise.

    Am learning a lot

The professors here, especially the ones within your major, care about your success outside of the classroom, but they also know the importance of you learning all you can in the classroom. They pour into the lessons to be sure that you are learning the most you can in the semester that you sit in their class. General Education classes that I didn't want to take have helped me in the classes that are vital for my future career. I have been challenged to learn, yet not overwhelmed to the point where success was out of reach. AU has given me a desire to learn more and further my education beyond college.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the AU environment! The majority of students genuinely want to be here and that increases the enjoyment of everyone. The feel on campus is very relaxed and family-like. I know everyone says that, but at AU the students, faculty, and administration go out of their way to love on each other. God is the center of the school, but there is no legalism to bind you down. It helps to promote a genuineness in the lives of Christians and enables the lost to feel more comfortable and yet still be exposed to the Gospel. I have worked at another college, stayed at four over night, and visited the campuses of many others, and I can honestly say that AU is the most beautiful and has the most unique atmosphere. The dorms are wonderful and actually feel like home too. Though the cafeteria does not always have the best food, they have a wide variety of options, so you never go hungry. Food for Thought is also a convenient choice for the student in a hurry. The library is huge and well stocked (at least in the Christianity, history, and education sections; I have had little contact with the other sections). It would be nice if the cafeteria hours were longer, but on the plus side it provides a great place to hang out with friends. The ladies in the cafeteria also know many of the students by name and ask about their personal lives while giving them food.

    Bang for the buck

Obviously, it would be nice if college was less expensive. But the education and experience that you get at AU compared to colleges that are similarly priced is extraordinary. If you paid the same amount somewhere else, the dorms would be in terrible condition, the food would not be as varied, and the professors would not be as educated. Anywhere you go is going to be too expensive, but AU is a wonderful wonderful deal considering the quality of education you get plus all the food and living areas.

    Tips for prospective students

Get your application in early even if you are undecided because you can earn so amazing first-come-first-serve scholarships simply by having paperwork turned in.
Visit us over night. It gives you a true feel of the life on campus and gives you peers to ask the embarrassing questions that you don't really want to ask the tour guide.
Enjoy senior year! Don't get so stressed about colleges that you miss senior year. Just make the decision to come to AU, and sit back and relax. ;)

Great for these types of students

Any student can find a nitch at AU. We have a wonderful Center for Student Success that goes out of their way to help you if you have a physical or learning disability. Many of my friends would not have done well at any other college, but they were able to thrive here because of that help. Students wanting a Christianity degree should come here too. We have the best Christianity department in the state. The professors are brilliant, kind, experienced, well-rounded, excellent teachers, and firmly grounded in the Word of God. They are not content with just an in-class relationship; they seek out opportunities to help students outside of class and to just get to know them.

I ended up transferring from Anderson University my Freshman year. However, this wasn't due to the campus. The campus itself was great.
