    Did learn a lot

Most of the professors and TAs that I had at ASU were very knowledgeable in their field and also held terminal degrees in their fields. Like all colleges, most of the class times were strictly lecture based but many professors gave examples to describe what they were lecturing on and it allowed the student to really apply the knowledge to an everyday applicable field. Many professors have office hours which allow you to visit with your professor to get one on one help with things that you might have had trouble with in class. Also, the school's writing center and math lab are very structured and helpful! The TA's are very knowledgeable in their field and help the students out , if the student has a hard time understanding the professors method of teaching. If you are ready to learn and work hard, this school is for you.

    Did enjoy being here

The campus is very small, which means that there are less students than major universities throughout the state. The campus has an historic charm feeling to it as many of the buildings on campus have some significant role from history. The students are very friendly and many know each other through the local highschools that they attended together. I was from a different high school which was over 150 miles away but I still met so many new people and everybody I encountered on campus were very nice, friendly and helpful. Most students become friends in their classes as they help each other throughout the semester. The school offers many different activities that are planned throughout the semester to bring its students together like movies, concerts, events and lectures. Also being in GA's second largest city, there is a lot of concerts and different events held off campus and ASU has the option of purchasing discounted tickets which allow the students to attend these events on a more affordable note.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition for the school for in state is roughly around 2k per semester which is very affordable compared to other college and universities in the state of GA. The tuition and fees cover everything from parking, events that are held throughout the semester, use of the school's gym and other facilities. For students that have Georgia's HOPE scholarship, it is roughly around $40-200 dollars per semester to attend without books. Textbooks range roughly around $400-700 per semester but the ASU bookstore has a better buy back policy than any other school that I have encountered with its textbooks.

    Tips for prospective students

Before applying for admission, it would be a best bet to visit the campus during fall or spring semesters to see if it is a match for you. The school is very small compared to other universities in the state, but isn't crowded due to the small population of students. If you see yourself as a student at ASU, apply as soon as you can, admissions is rolling so you are able to apply even after the application deadline. The admission's office works really fast to give you an answer as soon as possible. If you are applying for University housing, get your application in as soon as possible because housing is limited, but before applying for housing- go check out the housing because for some the apartments are too far from the school and the area for some is not good, even if you don't like the student housing that the school provides, there are many options for housing even right on Walton Way, so it is close to school and covenant to school. Overall it is an excellent school, but many of its students commute to and from school and are from the Augusta- Richmond County area.

Great for these types of students

It is an excellent school for a student who is on a budget and cannot afford an expensive school. Also, it is a good school for students that had B averages in high school because it provides a fostering environment for learning and getting used to college life. Also, if you are required to work throughout your collegiate years this is a good school for you because the city of Augusta provides many job opportunities. Also, many ASU students are adult students are returning to school to get a higher degree, start a degree program, almost every class especially in the afternoon will have one or two adult students.

The teachers and the school really want you to succeed! The First Year Experience groups you with other Freshman who share your strengths and weaknesses, so you always have people you know to help you if you're struggling!

    Am enjoying being here

I'm so glad that I picked ASU! I didn't know anyone before I came, but I've met so many people that I know I'll be friends with for life! I really like my teachers and my classes. I love living in an apartment, and having my own room! Everyone's been really helpful and nice.

    Bang for the buck

This is a great school for the money! It's academics are excellent, and it's fun to go to see the sports teams play. It's got everything that a bigger school would have, but I don't feel like a number here. The University Village apartments are great, and I feel safe wherever I am.

    Tips for prospective students

Come visit the school. Ask a lot of questions. Get your tour guide's email address if you can, so if you have more questions after you go home, you can have a specific person who can answer them for you. If you decide to come here, sign up for FYE. It's a great way to help you transition from living at home, to being a first year college student! If you can stay in the University Village Apts, do it! The experience is invaluable!

Great for these types of students

This school is great for any type of person. Shy people will meet people just as easily as more outgoing people will. Students who struggle in a subject will have classes that are at their level, other students who will be at that same level, and tutors that are readily available to help!!!

    Will learn a lot

    Al lot of hands-on experiences.

    Will enjoy being here

Definitely a friendly environment. You will have met friends that will last a lifetime. Not too crowded, nor too small. Campus is safe and secured!!!!

    Bang for the buck

Apply for as many scholarships as you can. You will save a lot of money because it's not that not expensive!!!!

    Tips for prospective students

Be ready for challenges. If you have any concern in regards to how much work you have to do, and if this is the college for you, you should schedule a campus visit first before making your final decision.

Great for these types of students

Any around 3.3 and higher if you want to apply for scholarships!!!!

    Am learning a lot

The teachers and teacher assistants are helpful. If you don't understand something you can ask and they'll help. Some classes are easier than others, but they all provide some sort of challenge.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is wonderful. It's small so you don't have to worry about being late for a class that's on the other side of campus when you have 15 minutes between classes. The teachers and students are all friendly too.

    Bang for the buck

It's not a flashy campus, but it is nice and has charm. Your fees include student activities such as concerts, sporting events, and lectures that the school has. They also give you chances to get discounted tickets for outings such as the movies some times.

    Tips for prospective students

Be yourself. Take a tour of the campus to see if this is truly where you want to be. Apply for as many scholarships as you can and try to save your refund money so that if anything happens you have it to use.

Great for these types of students

Students that enjoy a calm life. Those that enjoy or expect to spend time partying may not find the type of parties they were looking for here. Also excellent for any student that can maintain a 3.0 gpa because the school isn't that expensive you'll get a reasonably sized refund if you get plenty of scholarships.

    Am learning a lot

Professors are very helpful, usually very reachable as well. Classes are small, which enable me to learn a lot and ask questions whenever I don't understand something. If you ever have any questions outside of class, everyone is helpful and friendly. Curriculum is not always the most challanging, but it teaches you what you need to know.

    Am enjoying being here

Campus is small so there is not a lot going on on campus. It's a commutor college, so very few students live on campus. There is enough to keep you occupied in the city of Augusta though.

    Bang for the buck

It's very affordable and you get more than what you are paying for.

    Tips for prospective students

Take advantage of the accessible professors and the free tutoring!

i BELEIVE AUGUSTA STATE UNIVERSITY IS A BRIGHT INSTITUTION. MY GOING THERE FOR THE FIRST TIME GAVE ME A FEELING THAT I WAS GOING TO BE INCREASED ACADMICALLY. THE TEACHERS THERE ALL HAVE THE ZEAL TO TEACH AND CARRY ALL STUDENTS ALONG.

    Will enjoy being here

WHEN I SAW THE SCHOOL AS A WHOLE, I IMMEDIATELY KNEW THAT JOY WAS GOING TO BE IN MY HEART AT ALL TIMES. EVERY INDIVIDUAL PRESENT THERE ALL HAVE A PLEASANT PERSONALITY.THE STUDENTS THERE ARE ALSO CORDIAL. I AM CERTAIN THAT I WILL ENJOY BEING AT ASU.

    Bang for the buck

THE FEE IS ROUGHLY AROUND 2K, WHICH IS VERY AFFORDED ALONG WITH THE AID OF FINANCIAL AID AND SCHORLARSHIPS. THE ACCOMODATION IS ALSO VERY PLEASING COMPARED TO THAT OF OTHER INSTITUTIONS. THE STUDENT ARE ENTITLED TO SO MANY THINGS.

    Tips for prospective students

I WOULD ADVICE THOSE THAT INTEND ON GOING TO ASU TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A TOUR AROUND THE SCHOOL. BY DOING SO, YOU BECOME AWARE OF WHAT IT IS YOU ARE GETTING YOURSELF INTO.. SINCE STUDENTS HAVE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES ON COLLEGES, IT IS BEST TO EXTEND YOUR RESEARCH ABOUT THE SCHOOL BY DRIVING THERE TO HAVE A LOOK. BUT I ASSURE THOSE OF DESCENT TASTE SATISFACTION WHEN THEY GO FOR THE TOUR.

Great for these types of students

THE SCHOOL WILL BE GREAT FOR THOSE WITH A HUMBLE TASTE. IT IS A SCHOOL THAT IS AFFORDED. THE SCHOOL WOULD BE GREAT FOR THOSE WHO ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS TO ATTAIN WHATEVER DEGREE THEY INTEND ON ATTAINING AND LEAVE THE SCHOOL. STUDENTS WHO COME FROM A WEALTHY BACKEGROUND GO TO ASU BUT IT IS MOST LIKELY THAT THEY ATTEND A MORE EXPENSIVE SCHOOL. SO IN A NUTSHELL, IF YOUR PARENTS ARE NOT ADEQUATELY AND FINANCIALLY STABLE, THEY CAN STILL AFFORD TO ENROL YOU INTO ASU.

The teachers here want to teach students. If you are ready and willing to both learn and be critical thinkers you should do well here.

    Tips for prospective students

GET INVOLVED IN ACTIVITIES ON CAMPUS. Very publicized studies have shown that students do better academically if they do not just go to class and go home.

    Academic Rigor

This is NOT a hard school as long as you are ready and willing to put in the work needed. Like all schools, you will do MUCH better when you decide you are ready to actually learn and go to class as well as complete assignments.

    Dorm Life

Until the 2013 Merger with GHSU (formerly MCG) there is only one off campus, school controlled Apartment Complex with rent in the 600s per month that have to be prepaid.

    Food and Dining

For a small commuter campus, the dinning is adequate with a small cafeteria/station eatery. Sandwhiches, a minimal Starbucks, to order grill, and pizza station combine with premade/prepackaged foods.

    What to do for fun

This is a commuter campus. Even with the mutiple Fraternities, Sororities, Campus/Student Groups, Sports, and NCAA National Champion Golf Team there are still medium city clubs, dinning, museums, concerts, etc.

    Bang for the buck

By far not only the cheapest 4-year college in the area (INCLUDING ONLINE SCHOOLS), it offers a great deal for the price of attendance, even if parking is a bit crowded at times.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

ASU main campus is on the site of the Augusta Arsenal (used in Civil War and World War eras). The student center, JSAC is managed by students working while attending class full-time. (like me) This is not common in many student centers.

Great for these types of students

Students that WANT to learn and complete a degree program. Students that just try to 'flow along' will not like school so they will not do well here. Take that advice from someone that was in that position before.

    Clubs and Activities

The process for organizing and getting official recognition from the Office of Student Activities can be a pain as they have to be done every semester. However, there are clubs for just about everything with some more active than others of course.

    Greek Life

A variety of these options exist.

    Campus Safety

Full time, 24 hour campus police on vehicle and foot patrol. If GA ever gets rid of it's ridiculous law saying college students cannot defend themselves adequately on campus then I will rate this higher.

Augusta State is a very mixed campus. Anyone could fit in and be comfortable here. Everyone is very friendly and honest and the teachers are very helpful.

    Tips for prospective students

I would advise prospective students to handle all financial aid issues before coming to the college and also know what major to pursue before coming.

    Academic Rigor

It is important to study, study, study and make good grades so scholarships can be kept and maintanined.

    Dorm Life

I dont live in the dorm apartments but i would say do not go to every party or hang out everynight.

    Food and Dining

The food at Augusta State is average and expensive so getting a meal plan would be the cheapest thing to do.

    What to do for fun

It is fun at the bowling alley on Wed. they have dollar bowling. If your twenty-one downtown is also a popular spot to have fun.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have a huge amphitheatre outside, this is a great area for students to interact and sit in the sun to relax or do school work.

    Greek Life

There are many different organization on campus for any student to join. There are many cool frat parties that go on also.

    Campus Safety

There are emergency polls at almost every few feet so you will always be provided with safety on campus. There are even emergency buttons in the dorm room. The police on campus are friendly and they even help if you are having car trouble.

Augusta State University is a smaller campus within the University Systems of Georgia that offers a historic charm. The campus is full of traditional students by day and many non-traditional students at night.

    Tips for prospective students

You should always visit a campus before your orientation. Many college campuses may look good in brochures; in reality you need to use your five senses rather than one.

    Academic Rigor

The professors are highly qualified as they do their jobs. Many professors are willing to give you good advice and extend you many opportunities to better yourself. Many of the teachers also givve you a list of their office hours and are more than willing to set up an appointment.

    Dorm Life

The majority of the students that attend ASU live off campus. The University Village is located five minutes away from the main campus. The commuter students usually live in surrounding counties.

    Food and Dining

The cafeteria is very close knit. Meal plans are offered; however the dining area is not opened on the weekends. Most of the food is unhealthy and overpriced.

    What to do for fun

For fun students will sit in the amphitheatre and chat with friends or go to the game room and t.v. room for hours upon hours. The are always events hosted bu the Jaguar Activities Board.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition is very inexpensive comparable to many of the schools in the University Systems of Georgia. The books are on the higher end but there are buybacks.

Great for these types of students

The atmosphere is best for students who want to live in a city but with a home time feel.

    Clubs and Activities

ASU has many clubs and activities. for students.

    Greek Life

Greek life is active yet not active on campus. The fraternities and sororities are highly active during the fall semester trying to recruit but they soon fall off. ZTA is the most active sorority on campus.

    Campus Safety

The campus is very safe. The campus police are very nice and always willing to help. If there is a problem reported they are quick to investigate and follow proper protocol.

augusta state university is very small compared to other universities in the state. parking at this school is horrible. on the other hand the hull college of business here has so many resources that other schools in this state do not.

    Tips for prospective students

before applying to school i suggest coming to visit the campus and get a feel for it to see if it right for. the admission's office works really fast to give you an answer as soon as possible. also if you decide to apply for housing try to do it asap because space is really limited. try to come to class at least 30 hour early, because parking here is terrible. use all the resources the schools gives you like the pig out. which equals free food, the career and academic advisors here just to help you and try to come to class on time teachers here are really picky on that.

    Academic Rigor

depending on your major the school is not too hard just as always do your work, study at 2 hours for every hour in class and complete homework assignments. but this school is known for there nursing and business programs. the nursing program is tough here and expect the best from the students. the business school on the to the other hand, gives free coffee and is known for one the best in the state of georgia.

    Dorm Life

dorm life is expensive at any school and here just the same. every year the price goes up a certain percentage. the dorms here are basic not extraordinarily. regular tv, internet, water, heat and basic kitchen appliances. but you there a pool, that one plus because since it is in georgia summers here are way, way too hot.

    Food and Dining

the food is great i personally love it. but the only error is that it is expensive its best to have a meal plan, but if not just go occasionally but at least once to try it out.

    What to do for fun

since augusta state university is located in a small town there is really not much to do, especially if your a transfer student. there always bowling, movies, restaurants, some clubs and parties around town. but the school actually every monday has movie day free for asu students. but its best to have some friends that whenever your bored you can hang out with them and do something crazy.

    Bang for the buck

the tuition for the school for in state is around 2.000 per semester which is very affordable compared to other college and universities in the state of ga. the tuition and fees cover everything from parking, events that are held throughout the semester, use of the school's gym and other facilities. for students that have georgia's hope scholarship, it is roughly around $40-200 dollars per semester to attend without books. just remember now if you are enrolled in a learning support class hope will not pay for it. textbooks range roughly around $400-700 per semester but the asu bookstore has a better buy back policy than any other school that i have encountered with its textbooks.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

the campus has an historic charm feeling to it as many of the buildings on campus have some significant role from history. also this school is claim to have a ghost i have not seen it.
but it is to be said that after climbing the staircase at bellevue hall, a distraught young woman threw herself from a second-story window, joining her fiance in death. emily galt died more than 140 years ago, but some say she has never left the house, which is now part of augusta state university.

Great for these types of students

this school is great for any type of person. shy people will meet people just as easily as more outgoing people will. students who struggle in a subject there are learning facilities on campus that can help you and tutor are always available. also if you cannot afford a expensive school with great befits this is school is great at an affordable price.
