Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a Baruch student, I have been learning non-stop since I first started attending last Fall. Baruch Professors set the class environment and give you the push you need to challenge yourself.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being here for three reasons. I enjoy the challenge from most of the Professors here, I appreciate the convenience of the Computer Lab, and most of all, I love the diversity among the students.
Bang for the buck The classes are a bit expensive. A full schedule will cost about $2,000. They recently had to raise the cost per class, so now it's about $2,500. If I were to advise, I would tell students to take 18 credits in a semester because you pay the same price once you are taking over 12 credits.
Tips for prospective students I would say that overall, Baruch College is a great school that gives students a very clear pathway to their goals. They have very good advisers to help students keep on that path to success.
Great for these types of students Baruch is great for students who like to get in and get out of class quick. Classes start and end promptly. It's for the student who likes the city life of New York. There are only 3 campus buildings, but there is much to do in the area around the school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Most of the professors are very knowledgeable in varies subjects. Often times even if you are in a math or science class you will learn about a topic from another subject. This makes it easier for you to approach your professor if your planning on taking that particular course, or if you feel more comfortable talking to that professor instead of another.
Am enjoying being here This school is nice. They have many free events, many chances to win free products, and they always offer discounts to certain movie theaters, as well as live theater productions. During your first year you will make friends. The freshman program helps to integrate freshmen into the college. You will end up seeing many of the same people in your classes which is very helpful. I still keep in touch with my friends from my freshmen year.
Bang for the buck You have to pay a technology fee. This is helpful at times. Basically you put $100 in advice for printer service. Most people do not use all the money, sadly this is when you feel like your being robbed because if you don't use all your printer fee you do not get to save the money or it is not given back to you. This is probably one of the flaws to the fees but other perks are. You can save on buying books. You can request your professor to place a few copies of the book on reserve, and you will not have to pay to use it. Within the school they also buy back as well as sell used books. They have many computer rooms all with access to the Internet, and they also have pretty good wifi. You can borrow books, laptops, calculators and other items for an entire semester or for a few hours. There are many great clubs and sororities to join. Although they do not have dorms you can set up housing, and find a place near by.
Tips for prospective students Don't be intimidated by the big building. Once you get use to your schedule, and familiarise yourself with the school buildings you will feel comfortable. Attend your FRO class. This is your freshmen class. You do not get credits for attending the class, only pass or fail, but if you fail the class you will not be able to graduate without taking it again. the FRO class also helps you to get familiar with people that you will most likely see in your other classes. There are certain exams that you will have to take in order to graduate. I would suggest getting them done as soon as possible so that you can put yourself in the position to graduate on time.
Great for these types of students Business Majors and Accounting. Baruch is one of the best cuny colleges for these majors. They have other good majors such as psychology, and other liberal arts, but not anything in the medical field.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Good luck and just make sure you visit www.ratemyprofessor.com to see the reviews for the instructions. You always want to make sure you get a good instructor. pointless taking a class if you're not going to learn anything.
Academic Rigor Most of the schools Baruch expect you to have at least a 2.5 GPA. You need to make sure you get good grades in your class's, especially your major courses.
Dorm Life Baruch recently got housing for its students. Haven't checked it since I already have an apartment, but it will be good for student's that go away during the summer. You can only live in the housing during the Fall and Sprng semesters. It's very close to Baruch and close to main areas in Manhattan.
Food and Dining There are some good restaurants near the school. The gramercy cafe is where I go for my breakfast, good price and good food. If you're in the mood for Chinese, there is a Chinese store next to the school that has a $5 special. Check it out!
What to do for fun Hit the bars!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences baruch has a host of intelligent faculty who combine professional experience with academic excellence. it allows students to feel like they are getting not just an education, but guidelines to succeed in the real world.
Tips for prospective students this experience is what you make of it. no one is here to hand you your education. the more engage your professors and classmates, the more you will learn about yourself and the issues that are important to the goals that you want to reach in life. you want to learn about,
Academic Rigor not all classes are perfect, but everyone seems to be wanting to be innovative and practical.
Dorm Life i do not live in the dorms.
Food and Dining new york city has a wide range of choices.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences big student life & city campus culture. success depends on the students, not the professors. not just a business school, baruch also has an arts & science school and public affairs school.
Tips for prospective students you have to get involved, if you don't you'll just be a typical commuter student and will realize that you should've been involved and active your junior year.
Dorm Life baruch is finally getting dorms. definitely expanding!
Food and Dining food inside the school is good and there's all kinds of food outside the school. many places offer a student discount just for being a baruch student.
What to do for fun there's events every week, especially thursday nights. every thursday's from noon until 2 no one has classes, just so they can be active within a club.
Bang for the buck being one of the few schools in the nation with a trading floor and it's low tuition. baruch offers a big bang for the buck, especially since major companies are always recruiting.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus it's located in between gramercy, flatiron and murray hill in the city. walking distance from union square, penn station, k-town and many other places. won't find another city campus like baruch.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences baruch is an amazing school for the price. if you are an accounting student, this is the only school you should go to in nyc. all the others are much too expensive for the same degree and instruction you would receive at any of the higher priced schools.
Tips for prospective students keep your gpa as high as possible. apply early and show an interest in business.
Academic Rigor the business school is extremely rigorous to compete with the likes of nyu and columbia.
Dorm Life there are no dorms
Food and Dining not very good, mostly a commuter school.
What to do for fun this is nyc so the world is your oyster going to this school.
Bang for the buck less then $5000 a year if you live in new york and under $20,000 if you don't. a great deal no matter how you cut it with the amount of interships the school offers.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus accounting society is hard to get into but is the best resource in the school.
Great for these types of students commuters, older students, students who work full time.
Clubs and Activities tons of clubs but accounting society is the most prestigious.
Greek Life none
Campus Safety very safe and in a great neighborhood.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I really hope that I will learn a lot not only in academic area but also in other aspects because this is situated in one of the most vibrant and crowded of New York City and it is also known for its diversity.
Will enjoy being here Even though Baruch is on the list of College with least happy students, I think I will love the career-oriented atmosphere. Yet there are many clubs that we could participate in. As long as I am getting new good friends and learning about interesting topics ,I will truly enjoy my college years.
Bang for the buck It is very affordable compared with other schools in the States. Besides, it is in the New York City! Also, the reputation of Baruch in accounting programme is a plus for student like me. I think Baruch is worth every penny!
Tips for prospective students As I am an international student and entering in Spring term , it is not an easy process. I would advice every international student to apply for Macaulay Honor Program if you have good GPA and SATs. I thought I could apply it later and now I feel like I have wasted taking SATs. Also, ISSC takes so long to issue i20. So be sure you send in all the required proofs as soon as possible.
Great for these types of students Business major
Accounting major ( its in top 10 accounting program!)
Students who are career-oriented and don't care about no-campus life
Students who love diversity and city lifeLogin to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot At Baruch, I'm learning a lot, both in and out of the classrooms. During your freshmen year, you have seminars that help you adjust and learn the ways of Baruch life.
Am enjoying being here As a commuter, it's fairly easy to get to Baruch and as long as you're open to meeting new people, you'll definitely meet people that will become one of your best buddies.
Bang for the buck Baruch is school that is worth it's money. Unlike some private schools where you have to pay a whole lot more and be in debt after graduating, Baruch offers the fundamental things needed to succeed without that debt hanging above your head.
Tips for prospective students As long as you prepare yourself for the workload, and enjoy being in the city, Baruch is the right choice for you. You don't need to be a business major to attend Baruch either. It offers other programs with smaller classes, which might be even better because you get more attention.
Great for these types of students It's great for city kids and suburban as well. If you don't mind commuting most of the time, this is the right school for you. Business is the big thing, so if you're interested, this is right for you.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot It's college--you're bound to learn something
Will enjoy being here You will learn a lot. You won't be in an atmosphere ideal for networking and building relationships with other students unless you are involved in a club. It is the definition of a commuter school.
Bang for the buck I have been accepted and was planning on transferring. As an out of state student, I needed to know certain information before I could move to New York and attend. The most important information I needed was what credits would transfer from my school to Baruch. Baruch would not provide me with this information and said I had to show up in person, 2 weeks before classes start, to receive it. As a business school is concerned, I found this very unprofessional and disappointing. I could not risk moving to New York before knowing if only some or all of my credits would transfer. Additionally I was on deadlines with my back up schools and would risk being left out of college completely if, hypothetically, I waited for Baruch and found out that they did not accept all of my credits. When you are about to pay a school thousands of dollars and have been accepted AND intend to attend, you should be treated and given a level of customer service that helps and makes the transition process easier. (especially for out of state transfers)
Tips for prospective students Don't hold your breath for information from Baruch if you are also considering other schools. You will be forced to wait. If you are transferring right out of high school it might not be so bad as you know you will start at Baruch from scratch. If you are transferring credits, it will take an act of congress to find out which ones will transfer-- at least in the time you need to know if you are considering other schools. Very disappointed.
