Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot The tour I was given at the Nursing building was phenomenal. My advisor was helpful in every way possible and fully capable of answering all my questions and concerns. At Belmont, the class sizes are smaller so the student feels comfortable and can have the one on one teacher time if needed. The nursing program is one of the very best in the state!
Will enjoy being here It will be a huge change from UT, but after visiting and meeting many of the teachers, students, and employees I felt right at home. The environment is welcoming and there are so many great opportunities to take part in at Belmont. The transition will be hard, but I hoping for the best.
Bang for the buck Tuition is on the higher end. For a private Christian college it seems to me that it will definitely be worth the expense in the end.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to look into you major and even ask for a tour or to meet with an advisor. They will be happy to help in any way. If you are looking for a smaller Christian school Belmont would be a great place to attend.
Great for these types of students Performing arts and music business is what Belmont has always been known for. Many students who graduate get great jobs and are ready to work in the real world after being taught at such a great University. If you are into music and drama this would be a perfect pick. Otherwise, I know the nursing program is excellent and they are always looking for new applicants.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Coming from a public high school background makes Belmont a wealth of knowledge to me. Within the last few months, I have learned a lot- not only about academics but about life in general! Belmont has helped me become more organized and has presented me with several opportunities to do a lot of things that I have always wanted to do.
Classes are small here so it is easy to pay attention in class, to develop relationships with professors and students, and to make the most of all of the different resources here on campus- from teachers who, for example, are professional artists, musicians, and businesspeople outside of teaching to the library with all its research materials and capabilities to the recording studios for students.Am enjoying being here There is always something going on her on campus. During basketball season, there are so many chances to go show your school spirit and support for the student athletes! There are also a plethora of interesting convocation events scheduled throughout the year- from personal development events dealing with sex and religion to culture and arts events with African drum demonstrations to community service events that allow student to get involved with the community surrounding Belmont!
I love Belmont! I have made some great connections within the few months that I have been here! With the large amount of music and music business majors, there are some many opportunities to start a professional career! I have already sang back-up for an artist here on campus for one of their performances. I have recently started working with this producer, and I have a recording session coming up!
I am also involved with organizations that are helping me develop a wide array of skills! I do 60 hours of volunteer service every semester, and it is awesome! I also work withBang for the buck I wish that students could take 18 hours of classes without having to pay extra... Despite the expense, it is worth it- it is a quality education, and I am basing that off my first semester! I am learning so much about music that I could not fathom and gaining so much experience in my field of interest!
Tips for prospective students Take as many Advanced Placement courses and their tests to get those college credits, so that when you get to college, you will have a head start on you degree requirements!
Also when you get to college, take your decision to go to college seriously; this is not the place to play around and party! The partying can wait!
Get involved too! Being involved in different organizations on campus will yield so many opportunities and networks that will propel your growth as a student and an overall person!Great for these types of students Belmont is perfect for all prospective students interested in Music (instrumental and vocal performance, musical theater, music education, and others), Music Business, Science, and Religion will enjoy and benefit from attending Belmont!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm not going to lie, the classes can be very challenging. However, in the end, you will learn a lot. If you want a solid, well-rounded degree, Belmont is the place for you!
Am enjoying being here I personally love it here. It's probably because I'm a musician like everyone else.
Bang for the buck It costs a fortune to go to Belmont. If you can afford the price, then you definitely will get plenty in return. A great education, excellent professors, nice living areas, and you will be set up with internships so by the time you graduate, you can hit the ground running!
Tips for prospective students Apply yourself and always be nice to whoever you meet. The more people you are friends with, the more connections you will have once you graduate.
Great for these types of students One word... musicians.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Belmont is a great school if one wants to learn how to become the best person they can be. The professors push you to do your best and encourage you to not give up. You don't just learn academically, but socially as well. Belmont is committed to having students interact with each other by helping the community as one large group. This a great college if plan on doing something to change the world one day. You will learn and grow beyond what you may have previously thought. Belmont has also allowed me to grow closer to God, which is one of the main aspects of Belmont.
Am enjoying being here I love being at Belmont because I made friends very quickly and am meeting new ones everyday. I am able to express myself and not be judged by those around me. Belmont has really allowed to become a better person and it has inspired to want to inspire others to be their best as well. I also love Belmont because there is never a shortage of things to do. Belmont has activities that every person can enjoy. The campus is beautiful and gives one a sense of peace whenever outside. I also love that even though Belmont is a religious-affiliated school, they allow you to grow in God your own way....whatever that may be. They don't force you to anything, they simply give you the resources to grow closer to God.
Bang for the buck When you come to Belmont University, you are recieving everything that you paid for. A great education, a great social network, and not to mention a beautiful campus with a lot of resources to help you out in the real world.
Tips for prospective students For those students who are considering Belmont University I would tell them to be prepared to do your best and to not be afraid to ask for help because the professors encourage questions and are always willing to answer them. I would also say be prepared to have fun because Belmont certainly has something for everyone to do and for them to enjoy.
Great for these types of students Belmont is great for students who want to achieve their absolute very best and want to grow beyond what people expect.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences belmont university an amazing private university with a faith centered community that caters to the needs of the students and has top tier programs in the college of visual and performing arts, massey school of business, and mike curb college of entertainment and music business. every program at this school is going to give you a very well rounded and hands-on education with real life applications, as well as the true college experience in every sense of the phrase. my personal favorite thing about the university is the community atmosphere and camaraderie between students.
Tips for prospective students make sure you come and visit the university! there is an awesome organization on campus that i'm a part of called bruin recruiters. it is our job to welcome you to the school as well as show and tell you everything you would ever want to know about it. in addition to that, it's always a good idea to get a feel for the environment you could potentially live in for yourself.
Academic Rigor the classes at this school are definitely academically challenging, but it's not killer. the most important thing is to make sure you go to class, and do all the assigned work no matter how good or bad you may think you are at it. in any college, it's about how much work you put in to it.
Dorm Life the dorms are larger than average and have really great facilities. the ras and rds of each residence hall (and the on campus apartment complexes) create a really great community within the living areas and really love to make your life easier.
Food and Dining there is only one cafeteria on campus, however there are 5 other on campus food options where dining points can be used, and the food in all those places is delicious. there is always ice cream, cupcakes, chili, pizza, fries, burgers, salad, sandwiches and more everyday. sometimes the cafeteria will have fried chicken, and there are always made-to-order omelets for breakfast.
What to do for fun this school is in the heart of nashville. even if you don't have a car, it is a short (free) bus ride away from anywhere you would think of wanting to go to. in addition to that there are so many things to do on campus.
there are always events going on in the residence halls, open mics, or the pembroke haunted house, speed dating and other cool things like that. there are more than 7 stages on campus for different performances, and a venue in one of the cafes for small music shows. there are often concerts on campus, as well as students performing everyday. in the beaman student life center, we have the largest indoor rock climbing wall of any university in the country, as well as top of the line gym and exercise classes such as zumba.Great for these types of students great for people who have a great appreciation from the arts, regardless of your major. great for students who are highly self-motivated, love to learn and are curious about all aspect of life.
Clubs and Activities there are literally hundreds of clubs organizations and activities on campus. it's really easy to get plugged in, because there will be student organization fairs.
Greek Life greek life is not huge on campus, but it is steadily growing every year and rapidly.
there are 4 panhellenic sororities (alpha gamma delta, phi mu, kappa alpha theta, alpha sigma theta) and 3 panhellenic fraternities (alpha tau omega, phi kappa tau, phi delta theta) on campus. there are two non-panhellenic sororities (sigma alpha iota, and delta sigma theta) and fraternities (phi beta sigma, phi mu alpha) each on campus as well.Campus Safety the campus is on watch 24-hours a day by the university security known as bepo (belmont police). there are few if any crimes on campus, the only real problem on campus is petty theft, so make sure not to leave anything unattended. that goes for any public place.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors at Belmont really make the difference. They take a personal interest in their students, engage you in deep conversation that appeals to you, and really push you to take advantage of all Belmont has to offer. You're expected to work hard but it's very rewarding and all the professors are extremely willing to help you. Beyond classes, Belmont serves as a great place to learn life lessons. Being a Christian University, the community is fairly safe; however, Belmont is more liberal than most people realize at first glance, and you are forced to learn to live independently and become an adult.
Am enjoying being here My time at Belmont has been wonderful thus far. The community is wonderful, particularly for those in music or music business. Belmont's campus seems to act as a mini version of the music industry as it's swarming with musicians, future producers, agents, managers, and recording engineers. Music can be heard consistently outside, especially during warmer weather, and the many gazebos that cover the front lawn were built acoustically for music.
Bang for the buck Although Belmont is very expensive and can be slightly tight-handed when it comes to giving out money, it really is a wonderful school. Most everyone is nice and outgoing, the professors are wonderful, the campus is beautiful, and it's right outside downtown Nashville. While it's not a huge school, it's not a small one either, and any where you go you're bound to see people you know, although you're bound to meet new people as well. So much talent is accumulated at the school, you know that you're meeting people who will end up famous.
Tips for prospective students Try and visit the campus if you can as well as visit Belmont's studios on Music Row. Talk to current students and not just the ones giving tours. Belmont tends to put out an image of being much more conservative than they actually are. If you can find time to just hang out on campus, sit on the front lawn and listen to the many different guitars, voices, violins, saxophones, and many other instruments that are consistently being played. If you belong at this school, you'll be able to tell just by listening to what campus sounds like.
Great for these types of students Belmont definitely services itself to goal-oriented students. If you're looking for an academic challenge but a social life as well, Belmont does a very good job at helping you balance the two. Anyone interested in music will find a home here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning a great deal of information and I feel like most of the work is not to bad. Reasonable assignments provided you have the nicer teachers. Some are very demanding but I feel like I have work to do but it is not that taxing on me.
Am enjoying being here This school is just awesome there are so many things to do on campus as well as around and off campus. Music is everywhere here, turn the corner music, if you do not love or at least enjoy music I imagine it wouldn't be your favorite school. I love it though.
Bang for the buck I am not going to lie the school is expensive to attend however I feel like the connections you make here are worth the money paid. Some people are attending for far less than the sticker price. Have good grades in High School, did well on the SAT and ACT you'll probably get a decent ride here.
Tips for prospective students Apply as early as you can! Take your SAT's at least twice and taking the ACT would not hurt either, also make sure your FAFSA is completed ASAP as well. Those things with help you get the most money from the school. A visit does not hurt, the campus is beautiful.
Great for these types of students If you love music, have interest in music, want to pursue music, music business, audio engineering, production, art, we've got everything here but if you're not here for music, you'll want to enjoy music at the very least, I don't play any instruments at the current time but I do not feel odd being here.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot The faculty and staff at Belmont University were absolutely incredible. I loved each and every one of my professors, and was so thankful for their concern for me as well as my fellow students. They were always available to help me when I needed it, and were always on my team. You can tell the professors are very proud of what they do, and are proud of their students. They are passionate when it comes to our education, and I cannot say enough about the quality of education at this institution.
Did enjoy being here It is impossible to express the absolute LOVE and PRIDE that I take in this University. The time spent there was the most special time I have ever experienced. The social aspect of Belmont is very welcoming. Every one is so pleasant, whether that be the faculty, cafeteria staff, or your fellow students. The campus is drop dead gorgeous, and the facilities are beautifully designed for a beautiful purpose. My experience at Belmont was one of enlightenment in the realm of the industry that I want to become a part of for my career, as well as an uplifting one because of the faculty, as well as the incredible people that also attended the school. It is difficult to find the words to describe the special camaraderie and support one feels at this University. Now that I have been forced to leave because of finances, I have dedicated all of my spare time to searching for a means to go back! In short, I adore Belmont, and hope to return as soon as possible!
Bang for the buck This question is hard for me, since I had to transfer against my will because it was too much money for my family to afford. However, I believe that this University is at the top of its class, truly a one of a kind institution that can't be compared to any other place. There are countless opportunities alloted every single day. I believe that this school is worth the price, but of course, I wish it could be about $5,000-$10,000 cheaper.
Tips for prospective students Make it an absolute point to explore all of your scholarship options both inside and outside of Belmont's scholarship department (that is my advice to any student at any college). I would advise to explore the campus for all that it is worth. Research all of the majors that Belmont has to offer. If you are into Music Business, or the Entertainment Industry, this is absolutely the place to be. Also, get to know the faculty that are a part of whichever school within the University you will be studying under. Taking a close look at the dorms would be beneficial as well.
Great for these types of students This University is wonderful for a wide array of any students. Belmont's claim to fame is its Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. This program is the cream of the crop, with some of the most incredible professors in the nation teaching you the fundamentals of being a success in this Industry. Also, if you are into Nursing, Belmont has an excellent program, with state of the art technology and equipment that will blow your mind. And of course, if you are musically inclined, whether that be singing, performing, composing, writing, playing an instrument, or musical theater, the programs offered for those things are also indeed, some of the absolute best. Other excellent programs include Entrepreneurial Business, Ministry, and Journalism. This school is great for students are ready to face college head on with an attitude of participation and excitement. One needs to be ready to take advantage of the opportunities at hand, and have a world of fun!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Belmont's professors are amazing. All the teachers are very skilled in the areas they teach and most of the classes are very student orientated. It isn't quite like a large college where the professors don't have time or can't quite get around to every student. The teachers at Belmont really strive to insure a great learning experience.
Am enjoying being here Belmont is quite my style of school but it is a very enjoyable experience for everyone. The seminars, the music sessions, and the students all make Belmont a very enjoyable place to be.
Bang for the buck You definitely get your money's worth at Belmont. The college is a bit on the expensive side due to being a private university, but the education the professors provide is worth it. Especially if you are music business or audio engineering major. Probably the best thing about Belmont is the people you end up knowing when you leave the school.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Belmont is a 5 star University
Tips for prospective students Be sure of what you want to major in before you invest in a scholarship at a private school. It is so expensive.
Academic Rigor The academic side of Belmont University is very challenging. It definitely lived up to my expectations, and lives up to its name as one of the top 10 schools in the south.
Dorm Life My experiences in dorm life were very positive. There are more rules about visitation of the opposite school given that it is a christian private school, but they are fair and are for the best interest of the students. Each dorm also have activities that students are welcome to participate in throughout the year, this brings students closer together within their dorms.
Food and Dining Belmont university has one cafeteria, which is full of southern cooking buffet style. There are also other places on campus that food is available. The curb cafe has more of a food court feel, and there are also snack and sandwich shops around campus as well.
What to do for fun Belmont University offers many opportunities to play sports even if you are not on Belmont's official team. There are intramurals that average students can participate in as well as things like greek life. Also, Belmont's location is right in the middle of music city, Nashville Tennessee, so there are plenty of opportunities to explore off campus.
Bang for the buck Belmont is more expensive than most universities around the country, however it is definitely worth your money if you are serious about what you want to do. Belmont University has a very good name and looks very good on your job application. It also gives you so many amazing opportunities that other colleges and universities are not able to give you.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Unlike most universities, Belmont is very active in popular music. Its commercial voice students as well as any other students are welcome to participate in showcases, which are completely student produced. Showcases are like big concerts that students audition to be featured in. It is very competitive.
Great for these types of students If you are looking into the music industry for a career, belmont is the perfect place for you. Nashville holds the CMA awards and Belmont students are often a part of working that event as well as many entertainment related events in places like Los Angeles, California, and even events taking place in other countries through a program called service core.
Clubs and Activities Dorms provide activites as well as the athletic department. Our gym provides activities such as intermurals and rumba and yoga classes. Service core offers amazing opportunities for students to work events like the CMAs as well as other big entertainment events.
Greek Life Greek life is not like it is in state universities. There are no houses, there is no taxing.. Greek life provides students with activites and community service opportunities to help the community and to better relationships with each other.
Campus Safety Most student feel very safe on campus. There are emergency phones all over campus, and some of the housing is even fenced in. Security is on the clock 24-7 and if a student feels unsafe at any time, he is encouraged to call the security office, and they are more than happy to escort you to your destination.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Belmont University is where you come to find yourself. The relationships and the connections you find at Belmont are key to your future. Not only is this University extremely unique in that it specializes in YOUR are, but also it allows you to broaden your horizons as to what you want to learn.
Tips for prospective students Do some research on your prospective major and the university. While I love Belmont and Nashville, sometimes it is not for everyone. Belmont is a Christian University; however, they are very accepting of all religions and backgrounds.
Academic Rigor Belmont University's academic rigor is above average. While any college course will make you work, Belmont will expand upon your knowledge. Everything you learn in class, you will take with you in life. Also, the relationships you get to develop with your professors (many of whom are famous for what they do and have done) are integral in your future career.
Dorm Life Belmont has 'visitation hours', which mean the opposite sex can't be in your room from 1am-10am. Although these seem like a hassle, they actually are not that bad. This helps you to focus on your studies and keeps you out of sticky or troublesome situations.
Food and Dining The dining staff at Belmont is excellent! There's Ms. Tonya who will greet you with a smile on her face and a good morning, baby all the time. They are very friendly and accommodating to all needs. The food is also delicious. They offer a wide selection in the cafeteria, and there are Bruin Bucks which can be used at places like Quiznos and Lo Mein.
What to do for fun Nashville is the place for music and fun. There's a lot of activities on campus, such as a fraternity or sorority. There are seminars and concerts given at discount prices --like Sara Bareilles and Jake Owen. There's always something free to do, whether it's on campus or off, and there's a village within walking distance where there's always restaurants and stores as well.
Bang for the buck Belmont is expensive, but, to me, it's worth it. I love the oppurtunity Belmont presents and the relationships I've made with the students. The sense of community you get from being a student at Belmont University is unparalleled to any other.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have an underground tunnel that has never been explored completely. It goes down from the 1800s, but just stops.
Great for these types of students Belmont University is a great place for aspiring musicians and managers, or anyone looking to go into the entertainment industry. They offer a wonderful theater program, and an excellent music program. There are also a great number of nursing majors on campus, who claim the program is worth it. Also, Belmont is hipster central.
Clubs and Activities There are honestly too many to name. For more information http://www.belmont.edu/organizations/list/index.html is a good place to check out! Plus there's more than that.
Greek Life Although I am not involved in Greek Life, my roommates all are. Belmont has a strong Greek system. They hold eight different sororities and fraternities. All of which get to participate in Greek Week come March
Campus Safety The BePo Belmont Police ensure the safety of the campus. They're always around to make sure there's nothing dangerous going on, but they're also really cool to talk to in person. They really are there for the students.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes at Belmont do not allow you to just coast by with minimal attention. Even the very basic general education courses require more time in and out of class. For me, the classes aren't' any worse than the AP classes I took in high school. The best part about the academics is the faculty. Every professor knows your name and tries to help you. The one on one attention provided makes the difficult courses much easier to handle.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere of the campus is just fantastic. Beautiful landscaping and buildings combined with friendly students and staff make the place enjoyable. While being surrounded by a big city, Belmont is able to offer the small town vibe just with added conveniences of numerous coffee shops within walking distance.
Bang for the buck The tuition is high and scholarships from Belmont aren't freely given but the experience and knowledge you gain from attending Belmont is well worth the cost. All majors allow you a chance to get a taste of your classes well before most colleges.
Tips for prospective students Take AP, Honors, and/or Duel Enrollment courses. They prepare you for the workload you experience in college. Don't be put off by Belmont being a music school. Belmont offers many top notch programs outside of Music Business like Nursing, Social Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Religion, Journalism, and Pharmacy.
Great for these types of students Obvious choice for aspiring music stars but not limited to the music scene. All types can fit in at Belmont. Just don't come expected parties every night and school-wide tailgate parties.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Being at Belmont has really opened my eyes to the world. There is such a great emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving in all courses. There are so many great opportunities for hands-on and experiential learning through courses and organizations. There are business students creating their own businesses on campus, students in the sciences developing their own research projects, and musicians performing in their own concerts. I have definitely learned so much in only two years, but I have learned even more about myself through my experiences at Belmont University.
Am enjoying being here Belmont has an absolutely beautiful campus. On good days everyone is outside making music, studying, or playing Frisbee. There are plenty of resources available to all students such as the library, computer labs, and science labs. The library just recently began staying open 24 hours a day. I love being in the clubs and organizations on campus. I have met some great people and had some great experiences. The Belmont faculty and staff are all really great people and are there to help you with anything. I also think that the campus being located in such a great part of Nashville really adds to the experience.
Bang for the buck Belmont is a private college and, therefore, is rather expensive. However, I think it is worth every penny. Again, the opportunities Belmont provides its students are phenomenal and the resources on campus are great. The only problem I have is that I have to be wary of my credit hours per semester, because of the extra cost. Summer courses at Belmont are also rather expensive.
Tips for prospective students Scholarships and grants are very important. Belmont University offers some scholarships based on merit in high school. Take a walk around the campus and get to know every building, because chances are you'll need to know where everything is in the future. Get involved in clubs and organizations like Greek life, Towering Traditions, and Bruin Recruiters. They are so much fun, you will meet a lot of great people, and it looks great on your resume.
Great for these types of students Most of time the answer to the question, What's your major? at Belmont will be Music Business or some form of music-related major. So, there is an abundance of music lovers on campus. Most Belmont students are easy going and don't mind if you sing to yourself while your walking to class. Speaking from experience, the science department is excellent. Religion and nursing are two other widely sought after majors on campus. I think anyone would feel welcome at Belmont University.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are challenging, but the teachers and students are extremely helpful. Classes are incredibly small so teachers have the time for one-on-on attention. Some classes are a joke, but most are challenging and you will leave with a lot of information.
Am enjoying being here The people make the school worth it. The school board doesn't completely care about current students. It is tough to get your voice heard for them to change their policies. The teachers are fun and completely care about their students. They will know if you miss class and are understanding. Music is all over campus, which is amazing.
Bang for the buck The degree from Belmont is worth the cost.
Tips for prospective students Cafeteria food is terrible, but I've heard it has gotten better. Prepare yourself for a dry and cigarette free campus.
Great for these types of students Musical. If you love playing, singing, making, or listening to music. This will be your paradise. You'll find friends the first week and participate in multiple jam sessions a week with several different people.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I enjoy the way some of the general education classes are taught. I am an Audio Engineering major and wanted to focus on live audio. Unfortunately the live audio classes are super basic and teach elementary concepts with no option to learn advanced live audio princples that are necessary for arena sized systems. Studio classes are great, and love the DAW class.
One more note,
After taking a lot of AP classes in high school, i feel that most classes at Belmont are easier than my AP classes, and possibly less work than AP classes in high school.Tips for prospective students For AET prospective students. The studio classes are good, dont expect to learn a ton in the way of live audio from classes. Make sure to make opportunities for yourself, the school doesnt just hand them to you. Its the only way to really learn.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a music major, I'm taking an average of 12 classes a semester. Obviously, professors, programs, and teaching methods impact learning in huge ways, but a large portion is also your attitude. Often, you get out what you put in. Apply yourself, and you learn more than you thought you could.
Am enjoying being here Being at Belmont is like something out of a dream. The first month I was here, I kept thinking I was suddenly transported into Raise Your Voice, or some other similar movie. Music is everything to me and Belmont is a dream come true every single day.
Bang for the buck Most of my classes are worth what I pay for; however, there are always a few duds that are upsetting. Belmont is etremely expensive for me and returning is tentative. But it is definitely worth the cost. Professors here are some of the most incredible people you'll ever meet. I'm a long way from home and without a car, and it was amazing to me that two of them went out of their way to invite me to their homes for Thanksgiving once they found out I was staying at school for the break. Not only do they know you by name because of intimate class sizes, but they legitimately care about you, your progress in their class, and your overall well-being. It is inevitible that you will have professors at Belmont who become your family, and their wisdom, experience, and advice is of invaluable worth.
Tips for prospective students Visit every school you apply to and consider. I applied to 8 schools and was dead set on attending one most of junior and senior year; Belmont wasn't even an option in my mind. Ultimately, it came down to my top school and Belmont; visiting Belmont immediately made the decision for me. Between the friendly demeanor of students and locals alike, personal community throughout the entire school, breathtakingly beautiful campus, ample opportunities for personal and professional relationships to flourish, and infinite connections you'll make while here, it's hard to say no to Belmont once you've seen it.
Great for these types of students If you are someone who lives and breathes music with a passion so great you can't describe it, Belmont is the place for you. But even my friends here who are non music majors absolutely love it. Even though Belmont is considered by most to be overwhelmingly a music school, there is more to it than just the School of Music. Belmont is an incredible experience for all, and has been so far the greatest experience of my life.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Though there are certainly some general courses that are required and perhaps less interesting, I still find that the professors are great and have something worth teaching me. Even if the subject matter itself is less challenging, the professors are well qualified and always have some beyond information to share. Music Classes are very thorough and full of useful applicable information. I started out as a Music Business major, and learned quite a bit in that realm, but being a Psychology major with a Spanish minor now, I'm finding that I'm still acquiring lots of applicable knowledge!
Am enjoying being here Belmont is a very fun environment - especially if you are a music-lover. The school itself has lots of events catered toward music, but the university also brings in speakers for other subjects on a regular basis. Students are for the most part very friendly and welcoming. Dorm life (depending on where you're living) certainly has its pros and cons, but on the whole is a pretty good time. In addition to what the school offers, Nashville as a city has a lot to offer college students as well. Restaurants of various types and downtown Nashville are both in reasonable walking distance and provide great food and entertainment for students. On the whole, I really love being at Belmont just as much as I love being in Nashville. The two combined create an amazing experience!
Bang for the buck Belmont is kind of expensive...though the education is good, classes are well sized, professors are great, university resources are more than adequate and the campus is gorgeous, tuition can still look pretty pricey. If you're interested in music business, performing as a musician in the current industry, nursing, or just have a general love for music (whether it's your major or not), it's totally worth it. If not, it may be worth considering other schools.
Tips for prospective students Come take a tour of the campus if you can, and be sure to ask students what they think of specific aspects of the university. Most are more than willing to answer questions, and will give you pretty honest feedback about any concerns you might have. If you are a musician, it may be worth taking individual lessons from a few of the professors on campus, so you have an idea of who you may want to study with your freshman year. Also, look into what Nashville as a city may have to offer you, regardless of your potential career path.
Great for these types of students Musicians, Music Business Majors, Music Lovers, Students with a wide range of interests (Belmont's non-music programs are relatively strong too if a student decides to change majors).

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Belmont is a not too large not too small ecumenical Christian college with great programs for in nursing, music performance, and music business. It is a great community for learning, exploring, and thinking, but it is not for everyone. Nashville is a wonderful backdrop for those interested in medicine or music business.
Tips for prospective students Get the smaller meal plan and bring a car if you can. Get involved! Whether it be a church, small group, band, club, or intramural sport, it really is the way to find a community.
Academic Rigor My classes are not so easy that I learn nothing, but they are not so difficult that I do not have time to live my life and enjoy real life opportunities as a music business student. For nursing or other science related majors, it is much more rigorous. There are opportunities, like the Honors College or BURS, for students that really want to challenge themselves.
Dorm Life Freshman and sophomores have to live on campus. There are a lot of issues with adequate housing due to the rapid expansion of campus. Depending on the dorm, your community/res life will vary. Most students don't necessarily connect through their dorms but other groups and clubs.
Food and Dining There are options, but it is hard to stay healthy and find good food. The Caf continues to improve, but I wouldn't eat there if I didn't have to. Other food options are relatively slim, but I would recommend the Chick-fil-a sandwiches at the Corner Court, and Bruin Ground's!
What to do for fun Nashville has so much cheap, good, live music. Whatever type you enjoy, go out and listen! In the Fall, Musician's corner every Saturday at Centennial Park and Thursday nights Live on the Green in the square downtown are free live music. Dinner downtown, line dancing, and the Shelby Street Pedestrian bridge are also great things to do for a night downtown (Honky Tonks on Broadway are only great if you love country music and are 21+). If you enjoy art, the Frist has a night free for college students every week!
Bang for the buck Belmont is expensive, and its prices continue to rise. My education is valuable to me, and I know that I would not be able to receive what I get from Belmont anywhere else for the same price, but I am in a specialized field (Music Business). I realize though that my starting career salaries would not be enough to pay back loans if I were paying for college out of my own pocket.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's a lot of random gazebos. The Belmont Mansion is definitely a sight, as well as the Bird Cage (which has cool acoustics if you want to have some fun). While unattached to main campus, the historic RCA Studio B on music row is definitely a Belmont gem.
Great for these types of students For people who love music (whether they want to work in it or not) it's a campus bursting with music and people who love it. It is also a great birthing ground for any kind of creative types. There is an emphasis on entrepreneurial DIY endeavors that is unique and part of the vibrance of campus. Also, it is great for hipsters.
Clubs and Activities A person has to make an effort to get connected to clubs and activities, but the return is reflective of the input!
Greek Life It exists, but it is not a central part of campus social life. Greek life exists for those who wish to participate in it, but it is not necessary to be involved to have a social life. It has grown in the last few years.
Campus Safety BePo (Belmont Police) does a decent job. I never feel unsafe, but it does not mean that you can be stupid about your belongings. I lock my door, my bike, and my laptop in the library when I go to the bathroom, but this is common sense for living in a city.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences personal attention to your needs, a great place to find yourself, and devoted to helping you find out what your strengths are and captilize on them . I love it there !!
Tips for prospective students don't let your first semester there sway your judgement on whether you should stay. change is a good thing and because the campus is small making friends is very easy.
Academic Rigor it is tough, but managable. Getting organized and not waiting to the last minute to do papers and projects is key.
Dorm Life I would recommend this for at least 2 years in order to get to know people. I was a RA last year and I loved it.
Food and Dining food is pretty good and there are tons of restaurants near the campus .
What to do for fun Nashville has everything for every taste. I would like to live there after I graduate.
Bang for the buck It is not unusual for the more famous alumni to come on campus and do a mini concert. Lots of entertainment on campus from plays, bands, and Greek groups activities.
Campus Safety campus security in multiples parole the campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Belmont is full of a ton of students who are very driven but also know how to have a good time. A lot of people who attend here come with big dreams, more so than at any other school I have attended in the past. The University does a wonderful job of keeping individuals motivated, encouraged, and helps them get connected with their goals.
Tips for prospective students You don't always have to come with an entirely specific plan. I think it is important to come hungry, but willing to try new things. Belmont has opened my eyes to a lot of new possibilities, and I'm thankful that I didn't have my blinders on, or else I wouldn't have noticed them!
Academic Rigor The curriculum can become very tough at times, but I can promise you that I have always found it beneficial. I feel as though I am actually learning, and not just completing difficult assignments.
Dorm Life Being a dry campus, a lot of us spent weekend evenings hanging out together on our floor, or on campus finding other fun things to do. We had great camaraderie, and I have been able to sustain those early friendships that I made there.
Food and Dining I can't say it is always the best, but I have had significantly worse. I enjoy cooking, so I don't spend a ton of time in the cafeteria or our Curb cafe.
What to do for fun We go to downtown Nashville a lot, check out some local acts, walk around the neighborhood, and occasionally go out and find a great sunset. The views from the campus parking garage are amazing.
Bang for the buck It is very expense, but the experience is worth every dollar. Eventually, through everything you learn here, and with Belmont helping you get connected, your degree and the cost of it will definitely pay off.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Again, the parking garage! We had a concert up there once and it was a blast. The view allows you to see all over the city and its beautiful.
Great for these types of students If you love music, this is the place for you! Everyone, even if they aren't majoring in it, seems to love music and loves to share and talk about it.
Clubs and Activities There are a ton of groups focused on getting you involved with the music industry. We have a solid Greek life, great athletics, and overall I think everyone can find something that they can become a part of here.
Greek Life I am not involved in it myself but it would appear to me that people definitely enjoy it and there is a lot going on with Greek life. I have heard nothing but good things about them.
Campus Safety As long as you are on campus at night, I think you can feel relatively safe. I would not necessarily stray far from it by foot after dark though. But that can be said about a lot of places. There's not too much to worry about here!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences belmont is a wonderful place to be, the atmosphere is unbelievable. while i was visiting i never once heard a bad remark about the school. everybody there is extremely helpful, friendly, and compassionate about what they do.
Academic Rigor the students at belmont are expected to do their best and recieve the highest grades they can. the teachers at belmont are very educated and will do their best to help the student be the best student they can.
Dorm Life the dorm life is strict but fair. the students have a curfew of 11:00 pm or weekdays and 1:00 am on weekends. the opposite sex has to sign in at the front desk to go to the other persons room. this system is very safe and allows the students to get their school work done but also have a good time at school.
Food and Dining the campus has three different places where they can dine all of which are very healthy and delicious. they also have points that you may use at other restaurants around nashville.
What to do for fun you will never be bored if you attend belmont, there is always something fun to do. there are music and art shows almost every weekend and there is always live music going on someplace around campus. if you are not into music there are also clubs and sporting events you may attend.
Bang for the buck although belmont is very expensive it is worth the cost. receiving experience in your field is the most important thing because you are actually going out and learning all that you need to learn. the food is healthy and tastes wonderful, there are many activities to take part in, the dorms are very clean and spacious, the school is in a safe environment where you can feel confident to walk around without being scared. most importantly the students get a high quality education.
Great for these types of students belmont is great for people like me because i love music and entertainment. they have an amazing music and arts program which gives students the opportunity to get a great deal of experience, especially since it is in music city itself.
Clubs and Activities there are many clubs and activities that many people are involved in. there seems to be a club for almost everything. every student can find some kind of club that will suit them.
Greek Life the greek life program is unique. they do not live in their own houses like most colleges. the students raise money and help important charities which is the whole reason to be a part of the greek life.
Campus Safety the campus is very safe. it is small, well lit, and in a great neighborhood. they have a system where they will text their students if there is bad weather or an intruder on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences a creative atmosphere and, from what i can tell, a very christian environment. a small town in a big city as its president likes to call it, belmont seems to be a great community within the vibrant metropolis of nashville. by all accounts, a friendly and inviting place to spend the next 4 years of my academic career.
Tips for prospective students visit the campus when you get the opportunity, especially for preview days or 'academic options day', they really put a lot of effort into their prospective students and it gives a great feel for the campus and the university as a whole.
Academic Rigor as i'm not yet a student at belmont, i wouldn't know how rigorous the academics are, but from my conversations with professors, i don't think they would be lax or uninteresting.
Dorm Life once again, i can't accurately quantify this topic as i'm still a prospective student, but in researching housing, they seem well equipped.
Food and Dining i've heard at least decent things about the on-campus dining, having had some at on-campus prospective days it was pretty good, but the campus also has a few fast food restaurants and it's very close to many other restaurants of all sorts.
What to do for fun now this is something i can talk about, even as a prospective student. at belmont, you're in the heart of music city, minutes from nashville's parthenon, a great open space, downtown nashville with shops, restaurants, and music venues, music row, and, if you want to go a little further, music valley, i believe they call it, with a great mall among other things.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Every single class challenged me to perform my best. As with any college though, won will only learn for as much effort you put into a class, but I will definitely say that my professors went above and beyond to teach us the content.
Am enjoying being here I love it here! There are plenty of organizations to get involved in and even if none of those fit, then there are plenty of organizations in Nashville that can fit anybody's needs.
Bang for the buck Let's face it, this university is expensive. As are all universities. It's hard to give this 5 stars when I have to go into debt to go here, but it is my classes, the supporting faculty, advisors, student organizations, and the atmosphere here at Belmont have definitely been worth the expense.
Tips for prospective students Apply early/On Time
I understand that the senior year is stressful, but I cannot stress enough how important it is to make deadlines for applications and scholarships!
Visit Campus:
Cliche, but very important. I was able to eliminate some colleges just by visiting.
Declare a major, if you can
There are some scholarships that are given out to students of a certain major. Undeclared students are not considered for these (I am at Belmont because I got the Pathways to Science Scholarship for being a Mathematics Major!)Great for these types of students Music Students (Big Music School)
Motivated Students: If you want to learn, there are some good programs here and a motivated faculty that will teach as much as you want to learn.
Business Students:
Belmont ranks in the Top 100 business schools in Business Weekly
(My Macroeconomics class was really good)
Students that like to get involved:
We've got Greeklife, the M.O.B., Intramurals, several subject based clubs, A top notch Basketball team and as well as 14 other sports teams, Orientation Council, Executive Leadership Program, Towering Traditions Leaders, Student Life Assistants, Student Government, Student Activities and Programs Board, and the list goes on and on.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This school has phenomenal professors that actually care about your education. Class sizes are small, making the learning experience more intimate and hands on. Help is always offered and I am never afraid to ask questions. Professors really try to help you understand if you don't get the material.
Am enjoying being here The campus environment is great. Freshman dorms are centralized right in the heart of campus so it's nice to be in close distance to everything. There is always something to do and the people here are great. Everyone here is extremely friendly and welcoming. The more you get involved, the more you will enjoy the school. People at Belmont care not only you as a student, but you as a person, as well.
Bang for the buck Belmont is a pricy university but you are paying for your education. Classes are small and the teachers are top notch. There are plenty of resources to help you become not only a better student, but a better person as well.
Tips for prospective students It's the best school ever. (:

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Belmont University is about hard work, passion, compassion, dedication, and connection. There is a lot to learn in all of the classes offered, but where much is given, much is expected. The work load is rigorous, but doable if time is managed wisely.
Am enjoying being here Belmont also encourages student participation in clubs, causes, community, Greek life, and all aspects of student life. Belmont wants students to find a passion, follow it, and find how it relates to others on campus. Students are also encouraged to serve others. Be it students, the Nashville community, or a child in Ghana, Belmont expects students to be compassionate.
Bang for the buck Belmont is a moderately priced school compared to many universities like it across the United States. However, students interested need to search for scholarships, grants, and loans because Belmont will not offer much help or the resources, especially if a student is transferring to Belmont.
Tips for prospective students Much dedication is expected as a student in academics, student life, and community life. Students are expected to be involved at Belmont and in the Nashville community. Through this involvement, students will be able to make connections with other students, prospective employers and leaders in a given profession, and with the faculty.
Great for these types of students Students who are self-motivated, passionate, dedicated, and creative are welcome and would fit perfectly at Belmont. Students who are also looking for a small school in a big city would love Belmont.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot There is so much to learn here, ranging from a new law school, a nursing school and even the Mike Curb College.
Will enjoy being here The campus is beautiful and historic, the people practice southern hospitality and Nashville is a fantastic city to live in. It is strongly influenced not only by football and hockey, but also music and art.
Bang for the buck I guess it depends on your major. For the general ones, I suppose there are cheaper colleges to fit your needs. But for the degree in Music Business, you won't find a better college all around.
Tips for prospective students Visit visit visit! I was unsure until I visited the campus, I fell in love.
Great for these types of students Great for students who want that big city feel, the culture is not just surrounded around country music, there are lots of other things to discover around Nashville.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot The Journalism Department is top notch and cutting edge. I am sure I will be more than adequately prepared once I graduate!
Will enjoy being here I am also into theater and singing. I am sure I will be in my element as Belmont is loaded with musically inclined students.
Bang for the buck I feel it is a bit more expensive than it should be given the small campus and smaller student population. However, ask me again in four years and I might think different.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have learned so much in my first semester here. The classes go beyond regular curriculum. There is a requirement program called convocations, which you attend on your own time. They are usually 1 hour each, and are on varied and interesting topics.
Am enjoying being here Yes! I love the professors, and the size of the school is great. There are many opportunities to get involved in a fun way on campus, including greek life, student government, and even intramural quidditch.
Bang for the buck Being a freshman, I am not fully prepared to answer this question. But from the experience I've had so far, I would definitely pick Belmont again if I had to do it over.
Tips for prospective students Make sure when you visit you meet with an advisor, and talk about your prospective major and what you would need to get done. Also, stop by the cafeteria and make sure the food is to your liking.
Great for these types of students Great for students who are looking for a small community within a city bursting with activity. I like the fact that it only takes 3 minutes to walk to class, yet I can go off campus and enjoy events like the CMAs.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Belmont University is a highly established force in the Nashville community not only just in the category of Universities, but also in the surrounding music industry. If you wish to succeed with a strong attitude and determination, Belmont's arsenal of professors and curriculum help you down that road. Whether you are here for music, nursing, or even math, Belmont can open doors and make dreams become reality.
Tips for prospective students Come prepared and ready to learn. Make sure you understand the University policies and how the school works. Belmont is very good about welcoming and accepting new students so don't be afraid to ask questions.
Academic Rigor It can be as hard or as easy as you make it. Belmont has some very challenging courses, some of which you must take for GND credits. If you ever need assistance in specific subjects however the departments like math have tutors to help answer questions.
Dorm Life Dorm life is dorm life. It's pretty similar to most colleges. Belmont has a couple new, nicer dorms, but visitation and practice hour rules apply to all so be careful about that.
Food and Dining Cafeteria food here is not the greatest, but there are a couple other options on campus like the Curb Cafe or Corner Court, but the meal plan is required for freshman so you just have to tough it out.
What to do for fun Music, music, music. There's a lot of shows around town, many of which may be Belmont student bands. Also there's a big quad for frisbee, soccer, etc. Bongo Java, a pretty cool coffee shop, lies right across the street as another sweet hangout spot too. In Nashville, there is no shortage of entertainment.
Bang for the buck The music program, whether it be performance or audio engineering technology is stellar. Belmont is among the top music schools in the country as far as their program ranks and with the music industry so close it is not uncommon for Belmont music majors to find major job opportunities in the field around town. Come here if you play.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Pembroke guys from that dorm always have strange ceremonies going on, but around Halloween people dress up for class, or we have pre-basketball game hoedowns, either way there's always something crazy going on. There are always musicians practicing or showing off thir skills on campus too.
Great for these types of students Musicians, creative types, hipsters, Christians, interested in medicine, southerners.
Clubs and Activities Lots of ways to get involved. Clubs that you can work concerts, set them up, run sound at the Curb cafe. Also science clubs or speech clubs, intramural sports.
Greek Life There are several Fraternities and several Sororities as well. They make up a pretty big part of the student life, by organizing events of their own and also events for those not in an organization.
Campus Safety Belmont security has their own squad cars and officers who patrol and keep watch around and by campus. Little theft occurs, but it happens so hold on to your stuff.

There are alway jam sessions happening out in the quad and most people majors are about music. One of my professors has several Grammies and another is from the band the Turtles!
Am enjoying being here Everyone here is nice and Nashville is a wonderful place to live!
Bang for the buck Price is nothing compared to the quality of your education here!
Tips for prospective students Get involved and try new things.
