Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes at BYU are challenging, and by going to class, doing my homework, taking advantage of student help labs, and meeting with willing and helpful professors I have learned and grown a lot in the three semesters I have been here. There are also a plethora of classes available in every subject area, and I feel like I have been able to build my knowledge in core subject areas as well as explore new subject areas that were not available to me in High School.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love everything about BYU! I have enjoyed all my classes and professors and have learned a lot so far. I also have met a lot of different people from across the country and have really enjoyed the social atmosphere and activities that provide a break from studies. The campus is beautiful in both summer and winter with a gorgeous view of the mountains to the East, which provide opportunities for skiing, hiking, fishing, camping, tubing, biking, and other outdoor activities. Overall I have highly enjoyed studying at BYU!
Bang for the buck The tuition at BYU is considerably lower than other universities and offers a high quality education, wonderful social environment, and a variety of extra curricular and service opportunities. You cannot find a better experience anywhere, the tuition is low, and scholarships are readily available, which recommends BYU as an excellent university with respect to bang for your buck
Tips for prospective students Come visit! You can take a tour, explore the facilities, ask questions, explore different majors and minors, talk with students and faculty, and check out some campus activities.
Great for these types of students Desire to work hard and gain an excellent education while having fun!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All of the professors are experts in their fields, and are willing to go the extra mile to help make sure you learn what you want to.
Am enjoying being here It's so much fun! You don't have to worry about roommates who party too much or people showing up to class drunk or high- they'd get kicked out. We have good, wholesome fun here. There are so many activities too- something for everyone!
Bang for the buck The church takes most of the hit tuition-wise, so it's like everybody gets a scholarship! BYU is pretty cheap, but you get one of the best educations in the country.
Tips for prospective students Don't take an early morning class, especially your first semester! You'll be doing a lot of adjusting, and even if you have early-morning seminary now, you won't make it to class sometimes or you won't be able to concentrate.
Great for these types of students BYU is great for students who enjoy learning and are willing to study hard. It's great for people who like to have fun, but know when it is time to study. You need to have a strong work ethic to do well at BYU.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The course work is difficult (what did you expect? - it's college ;), but not beyond your capabilities. It is challenging so that you not only learn, but grow from every class you take!
Am enjoying being here BYU made my college experience probably the most exciting time of my life so far! Everyone who attends BYU is required to live by a higher standard of moral behavior. This takes many concerns about bad friends, bad environment, and even bad roommates completely out of the college experience. Everyone you meet is friendly and more than happy to help you out or just be your friend. Also the campus itself it beautiful, in any season and with Y mountain right next door, it gives you plenty of opportunities for fun - no matter the season - hiking, biking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, backpacking, and many other outdoor activities.
Bang for the buck BYU is becoming one of the most prestigious colleges in the US, but has a considerably low cost. It now compares to IB league schools like Harvard and Yale, and is almost as hard to get in. But BYU is probably a tenth of the cost! You get an education as amazing as almost anywhere else - and you don't break the bank or come out with thousands of dollars of student loans. Definitely well worth it in my opinion.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to study hard - but also have a ton of fun! If you engage yourself in the material - you will grasp it - no doubt. And the professors at BYU are more than happy to help out a struggling student! trust me - I would know - I am one of them, and not one has turned me away! Also there is always something going on on campus! free food, t-shirts, tickets to games, prizes! Keep your eyes and ears open for all the exciting things that always happen!
Great for these types of students Anyone who is excited about and dedicated to learning and wants to have an amazing college experience!!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot BYU is a great college. There are those classes where you will learn a whole ton if you haven't graduated preschool, and then conversely there are classes that are so difficult that they are impossible. So far, I haven't taken either of those type of classes. My classes have been perfect, just enough challenge to just enough work.
Each class teaches at different rates, so if you learn quick sign up for an honors or advanced course. In one class I learn more than twenty new things a day, in another only five or six. It depends on the class, but BYU has a faculty that will do what they can to help you learn at your rate.Am enjoying being here BYU is a a bunch of fun. BYU is as fun as watching a penguin do a backflip to catch a banana (If you think this is fun then BYU is for you, if not then I obviously have a bad example). BYU provides many different activities every week or two, and then there are so many clubs that I find a new one or three ever week. Everyone is nice everywhere you go and everybody reciprocates kind actions to anybody. The BYU students and faculty appreciate being here.
Bang for the buck BYU is the top accounting school in the nation, and the tuition is between $2,000 and $5,000 a semester. BYU's teaching programs are rated some of the best in the country, and since the USA is the best college/university nation in the world, BYU's programs are some of the best in the world.
If I went an IV league college I would have to pay about $30,000 in tuition for one semester alone, and then BYU may have a better program than the IV league.Tips for prospective students Don't slack, don't stay up late, don't procrastinate, don't be stupid. Basically the same as any school, but do follow the honor code.
If you're like me and a cook, you'll avoid the Cannon Center like a toad on a kabob. The Cannon Center is the All you can eat food court for anyone, but mainly Freshman eat there. If you don't cook the meals they cook the food tastes amazing, but I do cook the foods they do.
Exercise in the morning, the FDA recommends it plus it is a good way to meet people in the weight room.
Do eat, do sleep, do do the work, do attend every activity possible, do go to the dances, do go to the amazing presentations in the Eyring Science Center, and do explore campus.Great for these types of students Academic initiatives, people who care about receiving an education. People who can pay or can get some sort of funding for the education.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot College in general is going to be more intense than high school, and BYU is no exception. Although getting adjusted to the rigor of classes and extracurricular activities is challenging, there are so many people willing to help you, from professors to academic advisers to random people in your classes. I have learned so much in my field and about myself since coming to BYU!
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love BYU! At first, I wasn't sure I would fit in with the LDS culture here because I assumed everyone would be the same and I would be bored. However, I soon learned that there is so much clean fun to participate in, from hiking the Y to going to Divine Comedy shows (a sketch comedy group) to cheering for our boys during football games. Everyone is so friendly - just talk to people in your classes and ward - and you'll have friends in no time. I am SO glad I chose BYU.
Bang for the buck The cost of attending BYU is relatively inexpensive for the world-class education you receive. Ivies can cost around $50K for tuition alone; tuition at BYU is a fraction of the cost. The professors are renowned in their fields, yet still are more than willing to meet with students. Campus has hundreds of resources that are free to students (a counseling center, one of the largest college libraries in the US, museums, etc) due to generous donations from alumni and LDS church members. Of all the universities I looked at, BYU has the best bang for the buck.
Tips for prospective students Remember that college is different from high school - you'll have to work harder and longer than you ever did before, but the opportunities here are totally worth it. Live on-campus your first year - you'll meet so many people and be with students your own age. Enjoy your college years - you'll never get these years back.
Great for these types of students Students who are committed to living clean, wholesome lives. who choose academic excellence and want to leave their marks on the world, and who aren't afraid to leave their comfort zones for the best experiences they'll ever have!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I love the BYU experience! The classes are invigorating and fun! Sure, the Classes are difficult but you have access to professors you can talk to one-on-one, all-day tutoring labs, and study groups that you can have anywhere on this beautiful campus. You will be able to maintain your knowledge on main subjects and expand your knowledge in new subjects. Not only do you grow mentally, but you can also grow spiritually as the professors share and incorporate the gospel into their lesson.
Am enjoying being here There are many social interactions and activities to do on campus like outdoor adventures, service and extracurricular activities. The campus has plenty of exquisite restaurants, exercise facilities, and beautiful places for social gatherings. Y Mountain is always fun to hike any time of year. Also there is always somewhere to get away from the hustle and bustle, just explore and discover the campus and you’ll be surprised at what you find.
Bang for the buck BYU is one of the most prestigious Universities in the nation and it’s one of the cheapest. It’s all thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, because their tithing pays for most of the students’ tuition every year. That way everyone’s on scholarship and they pay a fraction of the cost. Besides that they offer plenty of financial aid and scholarships.
Tips for prospective students Some advice I would give to BYU hopefuls is to do your homework as soon as you get out of class. This way you can open to do activities in the evening. Since you have to live on campus in the dorms, students around you will be very distracting. Take advantage of tutoring labs, teaching assistants and review and you’ll be in good shape. Get to know as many people as possible and make many new friends by accompany those who are alone. Finally, be open to spiritual change.
Great for these types of students BYU is great for all prospective students. Even though this is a university with Latter-day Saints influence and history, non-members are welcomed and accepted. BYU opens its doors to all cultures and international students come from wide and abroad. Also BYU is one of the best universities for the physically disabled, because every building is accessible and there is handicapped week for awareness.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There is SO much available here that you can't possibly be involved in everything. I know, I've tried. The professors are great, and generally willing to help you one-on-one. I didn't really take notes in high school, but here I am hanging on almost every word. Not only can I get a good grade, but I can learn valuable life lessons- for the workforce and in personal life.
Am enjoying being here I personally think that the best thing about BYU is Clubs Night. Every Tuesday you can go to the Wilkinson Center and there are clubs everywhere-for any possible interest! I have been involved mostly in music, like the A Capella Club and Folk Music Club. But you can find literally anything! A great date night.
Bang for the buck It is worth it to go here. But only if you are willing to put the work in to be outstanding. Everyone here is smart and very talented, so you have to work very hard to set yourself apart.
Tips for prospective students If you want to get in, I would suggest working very hard. Starting yesterday. Seriously, it is pretty competitive. But it is so worth it to have the environment available here.
Great for these types of students Hard workers. And with a good sense of humor.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot If you want to attend a university that offers challenging classes, BYU is your school! The classes are challenging and make you think for yourself. The professors are top-notch and care about your success. They offer challenging work along with many options to help you along the way (lab time and reviews with teaching assistants are available for challenging courses). The professors are also willing to talk with students one-on-one if a student so desires. The general education requirements, although they may seem tedious at first, offer you a peek into a variety of areas and give you a more well-rounded educational experience. With about 98 miles of shelving, the Harold B. Lee Library is an excellent resource for studying. Even if you don't need study materials from the library, you can come in and find a comfy spot to read for class.
Am enjoying being here The environment at BYU is positive and uplifting. The students are friendly and friends can be found all around you! There are plenty of activities offered for entertainment. Take a break from studying, get with some friends and enjoy a movie, watch a performance, attend a sporting event, and much more. The campus is beautifully maintained and offers many quiet spots to study, bask in the sun, or simply chat with friends. There are dozens of clubs to get involved in (I'm planning on joining one this semester and am really excited!) that offer a fun and relaxing social environment.
Bang for the buck BYU's tuition cost is considerably lower than other universities. If you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints then the tuition cost is even less. If you qualify, there are scholarships offered to help even more with tuition. The cost of books is never fun, but there are options to rent books, or buy new or used books. All in all, for a reasonably low price, you can get an exceptional education at a comparatively low cost.
Tips for prospective students To really learn and understand the course materials, you must do more than simply attend your classes each day. Do the readings, go to any reviews that may be offered, get a study group together, ask your professor and/or TA questions, etc. Be willing to work hard and take advantage of all the help BYU offers their students; it can only benefit you!
Great for these types of students Brigham Young University is a wonderful school if you desire a challenging education that will stretch and mold you while offering a comfortable, spiritually enriching environment. Because of the high standards at BYU (described in the Honor Code which all must sign), students won't need to worry so much about the alcohol, drug, and immorality aspects that frequently attend other universities. BYU is unique in this way and will be a great experience for anyone who desires an uplifting environment while still gaining a valuable education.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot BYU is such a great school. The professors are very intelligent and know what they're talking about. Classes are hard, but I am definitely learning a lot.
Am enjoying being here I LOVE BYU!!!! It is so much fun. The people are amazing. The only problem is that it is hard to get as much sleep and studying because there are fun things going on all the time. I love it though. I wouldn't switch schools for anything.
Bang for the buck BYU is nice because tuition is a lot cheaper that other universities because the LDS church helps pay for it. They have a lot of scholarships too.
Tips for prospective students Work hard and write good application essays. Also, apply for BYU scholarships!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers are here to teach, not to just train you for a job. All of the teachers want you to succeed and do well there are always opportunities for students to get help.
Am enjoying being here There are so many friendly people here and you get to know a lot of people. In the dorms and on campus there are always free or less expensive activities going on, you can always find something to do, it's awesome.
Bang for the buck Coming here was cheaper than going to an instate school, also apply for scholarships which makes it even less expensive than before.
Tips for prospective students If you take two years of AP history classes you can get out of American Heritage which is a really difficult class. Make sure you go out of your way to meet new people and make friends so you can enjoy some of the fun stuff along with academics.
Great for these types of students As long as you are here to work and grow academically and spiritually any student can make it. If you are accepted to BYU you already know you are smart, just make sure you continue to work hard.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot College is made for learning things. And the classes are not made for passing tests, they are made for teaching things.
If you want to learn more than just the classes, there are tons of research opportunities in every department, amazing study abroad programs, and even clubs to learn more in depth.Am enjoying being here Because it is a LDS (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) school, there is a very strong religious influence here. Because of that, and our strong honor code, you are surrounded by people with high moral standards, all the time. Most classes are started off with a prayer, and professors reference LDS literature quite frequently.
Bang for the buck LDS tithing money is used to lessen the costs to students, through low tuition and generous scholarships. More expensive if not belonging to the LDS faith, but still really inexpensive. And there are so many programs here that are the best, for example the study abroad programs.
Tips for prospective students Starting 2011 Fall semester, BYU is requiring the ACT with Writing for admission. Take it.
Great for these types of students Members of the LDS faith (although not necessary),
Students with high moral standards,
Students looking for secular education with religion mixed in,
Students looking for a top-notch school with research opportunities and a challenging honors programLogin to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here try to focus on learning and not just the grades. The best part is that they add in principles of the Gospel of the LDS Church. They truly do care about their students and sincerely want to help students to learn principles that can be applied in their own lives, not just memorize gibberish to spit out on a test later on.
Am enjoying being here I love the university and the standards here. Keep in mind this is an LDS school set on LDS standards which may seem absurd to others, but I think it helps add to how much students can learn. Sometimes the weekend life is a bit dull. There are always things to do out there, but they are just difficult to find from time to time.
Bang for the buck Compared to other colleges, BYU is actually cheap. This is because other LDS members and alumni donate to the school which helps to lower costs for the students. Books from the bookstore on campus are more pricey, but tuition is cheaper than most other places. All-in-all it is a great deal for the wonderful education a student can receive.
Tips for prospective students Learn how to study effectively. It makes a huge difference. Also, go in expecting to learn something, not just memorize random facts you will forget as soon as the test is over. My best advice is to go talk to your professors. They really do want to help you, for the most part, and if you are struggling with a concept, they will try to help you understand if you just go to them.
Great for these types of students LDS students looking to further their education. Other religious students are welcome, but those who do not like to or cannot adhere to LDS standards should look elsewhere.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a student at BYU, the classes are challenging, but the things you learn are incredibly rewarding. The professors care about each student individually, and are always willing to talk about the course material with you, one on one. Several professors here have received national honors for the good they do for their students.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere at BYU is incredible. People here are different, and that difference is based on a love of the Savior Jesus Christ and a desire to live by his commandments. The students all have similar standards and are all striving for one thing, to be disciples and scholars. Every Tuesday, there is an incredible devotional with a General Authority of the Church on which the entire campus shuts down to give everyone an opportunity to participate. The dating life is great too.
Bang for the buck If you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the church takes care of a lot of the cost. BYU is the biggest private religious school in the states, and, even with that, keeps tuition low for those who attend it.
Tips for prospective students Come to BYU ready to have fun and make hundreds of life-long friends, all while learning and growing. It is truly a unique place, with thousands of incredible people. The sports are incredible. Get yourself a sports pass and you and I will watch Jimmer slam the Utes next year!
If you are going to be a Freshman, live at Helaman Halls. It is the best quality dorms on campus and has the delicious Cannon Center right in the middle of it. It has a great square in the center that is incredible for lying out in the summer with your friends and getting some sun while studying. You are going to love it here!Great for these types of students BYU is great for Christians and anyone looking for a spiritual experience during college.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Absolutely! My classes are even more challenging than all of the AP classes I took in high school. Plus, BYU has the benefit of being able to combine secular and religious education, so all that I'm learning in every class, ranging from chemistry to Book of Mormon, is applicable in all aspects of my life, religious or secular.
Am enjoying being here Between creative FHE activities fingerpainting and hiking the Y and football games and True Blue Tuesdays, I can't even imagine what my life would have been like at any other university. College offers many new experience, most challenging, but many more exciting and memorable and fun.
Bang for the buck Not only is BYU's tuition much, much less than any other university, but it also offers quite a few additional scholarships. And, in my opinion, the quality of education offered here is every bit as good as that offered at many $40,000-per-year schools.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of everything there is to do on campus. There are so many different clubs, like Premed club or Salsa dancing club or the medieval club practicing sword fighting, and intramural sports and fantastic music groups like the Cougar Marching Band or Living Legends or the BYU Young Ambassadors. And there are so many campus events, from football games to career and internship fairs and dances. Don't focus too much on getting your education finished that you miss out on all the exciting experiences you can have along the way.
Great for these types of students People who want to grow spiritually in any secular subject of study.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In every single one of my classes I learn something new, whether it's about the subject, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, or just about myself. I have learned that I can do hard things and that the teachers here do want me to succeed. Despite the large class sizes, the teachers really do want to get to know their students.
Am enjoying being here The campus environment is awesome. I was told before coming here that I would never see anyone I knew on-campus because of the size of the student population, But I see friends everywhere. I have made so many new friends here through the school sponsored activities and dances! I love it!
Bang for the buck There is so much to learn here and it's all at an amazing price. I have access to the country's 3rd largest university library, the campus is beautiful, and the professors are some of the top ranked in the nation!
Tips for prospective students If you plan on attending BYU I suggest that you live in on-campus housing. You will make some awesome friends and you are closer to campus and all the fun! Also be open to the posibilities of what you can do. Explore your options that BYU gives you and you will find out who you are as a person.
Great for these types of students Students that are willing to have fun and try new things, but also students that are not afraid of working hard.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot BYU is very intense. You work hard, but the outcome is amazing. Never before have I felt like I was in a place so involved in learning and becoming better in every aspect of life.
Am enjoying being here While there are silly things about BYU, it isn't a school for just studying. Yes, the students work incredibly hard but they also know how to have clean fun. Events are always going on including the always hysterical Divine Comedy, tons of dances, parties in Brigham Square, and not to mention the events put on by students such as movie nights or cookie parties.
Bang for the buck BYU is inexpensive. This being said, it's not in any way shabby. The grounds are beautiful, the housing is nice (for college housing), and the teachers care. I have friends spending more money on one year of college then I will in my four years, yet I feel like I'm learning much more.
Tips for prospective students Don't slack your freshman year. This isn't high school. Also, don't be afraid to talk to the professors. They genuinely care about how you do and love to talk about the topic they spent eight years of their life studying. Also get out and do things. You'll be amazed how many 'hidden treasure' events BYU has.
Great for these types of students Studious, silly, outgoing, ready to have fun while still budgeting their time to study.

Am enjoying being here The environment on and off campus is uplifting. There are a lot of opportunities to be involved.
Bang for the buck Absolutely the best price for attending a four-year accredited University.
Tips for prospective students Learn how to balance priorities and you will be okay. This isn't an easy-breezy, just drift through college school. You will have to work for the grades you want but it definitely pays off.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers here are incredible. A lot of them have literally written the book on the subject that they teach. The majority of them have lived their course of study. It is so awesome to receive instruction from poeple who are incredbly passionate about what they teach.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere here is unlike any school I have ever been too. I transferred here from a small state college in Nevada, and the difference in atmosphere is stark. Everyone here has made very high goals for themselves, and they work hard every day to reach that goal. The students drive and desire to do well is contagious! It is so much easier to succeed in an environment where everyone is helping you do your best!
Bang for the buck BYU is a very credible universtiy that wont break your bank! If you are looking for an awesome school with a very low cost this one's for you!
Tips for prospective students I would suggest this school for anyone who is looking for an oustanding education. For now keep your grades up, involve youself in service and extracirricular activities, and apply. I know that if you come here you will enjoy it! Be prepared to work hard and have fun. This is a great place for serious students who want to have fun and enjoy their years of college!

Am enjoying being here The standards of BYU fit exactly with what I expected and wanted. All students have to abide by the Honor Code, so (like other reviews say) you don't have to worry about drugs or alcohol. It is wonderful.
Bang for the buck It is so amazing compared to other colleges. There are many scholarships available, too.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot College is first and foremost a center for academic learning, and students should always remember that. Thus classes can be difficult, but the teachers I have come across are really caring and actually want you to succeed as much as you possibly can. They do not assign things they thing you cannot do, as long as you know you are in the right class. But even outside of class I am learning so much about the world, people in general, and even about myself as an individual and where I fit into society. Going off to school is an enlightening process to begin with, but with all the guidance and mentorship available, you don't have to do it alone here.
Am enjoying being here The real question is, what is there not to like about it here? Besides the weather, which can get extremely cold for someone who isn't used to it, the atmosphere of the school is amazing! There are so many amazing, friendly people around everywhere it's hard not to find fun things to do every day. There are so many different things happening all over campus all the time, you really get to choose what you like, and can fit in with what ever type of activity you want to.
Bang for the buck The education you receive here is well worth what you have to pay for it. The classes teach everything you need to know, and then some. Teachers don't waste unnecessary time or money, so you are getting more than you feel like you are paying for.
Tips for prospective students it's a lot of hard work to get in, but it is well worth the effort. work hard, study hard, and try your best.
Great for these types of students nerds; smarty-pants; focused, dedicated students who want to learn and grow as life long learners.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am constantly learning new things at BYU. I love the religion teachers so much! They know their subjects so well. Many of them can read many different ancient languages so that they can read original works and compare them to current scriptures! It's so cool taking a class when they can truly help you understand what was meant in many of the passages.
Being a student in the Art Department I can say for sure that I am constantly working hard but enjoying it every moment. I am learning so many new techniques and can't wait to learn more!Am enjoying being here The professors are great, the people are so insanely cool, the programs and departments are all there for your benefit and you are filled with the positive and warm spirit of the Lord. I can't imagine a better school for anyone who wants to connect with their Heavenly Father and get a wonderful education at the same time.
Bang for the buck The school provides many opportunities to save money. I was a transfer student from a small community college in WA. I was able to transfer most of my credits, entering as a junior, and save more money. Attending a good school as descent as BYU at a state college is about 8000 dollars more. The school really is looking out for the students. They know how poor college students are and aren't exploiting anyone!
Tips for prospective students Work hard not only in school but in sports and extracurricular activities. If you are a member of the church and are applying, don't just expect that fulfilling your eagle or YW requirements will get you in. Everyone comes in with more or less those same accomplishments. Try to show them that you have something really cool to offer. I was accepted after writing an essay about how great it was to earn my Girl Scout Gold Award and to place at State in swim. Let them know that you are a catch!
Great for these types of students This school is great for those who are trying to get closer to their Heavenly Father. It is a great school for the academic achievers and the spiritually strong. However, while saying that, those who aren't so set in their religion would also find this school enlightening. I was not the strongest member upon entering the school. The love and atmosphere of the school has helped me grow close to my Heavenly Father and begin to love myself for who I am.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In every class that I have taken, I have learned more than I knew there was to learn. All of the professors are very intelligent, and know how to teach their subjects to students. One thing of note, many universities only have graduate students teach the undergraduate classes. BYU is different in that most classes are taught by full professors. Of the many classes I have taken here, only one was taught by a graduate student - but it was a class that is popular enough that there weren't enough professors to be able to teach each section and be able to teach their other classes. However, every class (including the one taught by a graduate student) was taught with clarity and I have always felt that I could ask my professors for help, because they had a deep understanding of the subjects.
Am enjoying being here BYU is a unique university in that it combines secular and spiritual progression. I love the students here and the opportunities I have as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Coming here was one of the best decisions of my life.
Bang for the buck BYU is a high-quality university. On top of that, the tuition is relatively cheap compared to other universities of similar caliber. And for the amazing spiritual learning that you can gain, in addition to the education you gain, BYU is a great choice for a university.
Tips for prospective students This is an amazing university, with none quite like it. In making the decision whether or not to come to BYU, you must think of more than just BYU's ranking or the scholarships that you can get. Going to BYU is a way to open up your understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and will help you to gain your footing in the world without the added worries of out-of-control dorm parties. You should note, however, that BYU is just like anywhere else in the world; there are different kinds of people, many who may have opposite beliefs from you, and of course, no one is perfect.
Great for these types of students If you want to have a wholesome, spiritual education, BYU is definitely the university for you. However, just because those experiences are not on the top of your list of qualities to look for in a school, it does not mean that you should not consider BYU for your educational experience. BYU has several nationally acclaimed programs, such as its Accounting program, and is highly ranked with other universities in the United States.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Use the resources available to you on campus. There are so many offices made specifically to help you research, write, and learn. Take advantage of the opportunities to learn outside of your classes. Go to the Eyring Science Center and take some time to read about the different displays. There are a lot of free events put on by the different departments. There's a chemistry show in October that you don't want to miss. You can learn about the stars. You can go to the dinosaur museum, check out the art on display, visit the Bean Museum.
Now let's get to learning inside the classroom. Make friends with your classmates. Don't be afraid to contact your professor with questions about the material. Get enough sleep OUTSIDE of class. You are on your way to learning a lot.Am enjoying being here At BYU, you have a unique opportunity to combine the secular with the spiritual. You have classmates and professors that share similar values. It is a great place to make friends that will last a lifetime. The campus is beautiful and you have an amazing view of the Timpanogos mountain range. Take advantage of all the outdoor activities that can be found in Provo. You won't regret it. You like adventure? This place is full of it. Rock-climbing, camping, hiking, canoeing, the list goes on.
Bang for the buck Where else can you get a fine education at such an affordable price? There aren't many places that can compare. The education you receive is top notch, and the price, well let's just say, the price is fantastically low.
Tips for prospective students I have a few tips for you as you start college. Your syllabus is your new bible. Keep it, laminate it if you have to. This will help you stay organized.
Be involved in activities that go on around campus. It will give you a break from studying, because let's be honest, no one can study all day everyday. Plus, it is a great way to make friends.
Find someone to serve. Leave your roommate a note, say hi to someone and smile. It will help you feel better as the stress builds.
Eat healthy. Sleep. Study. You'll make it.Great for these types of students BYU is great for students who love to learn, inside and outside the classroom. BYU is great for students who love the Savior and want to stay close to Him. BYU is great for students who love to be happy. BYU is great for students that have a budget.

Am enjoying being here BYU is so much fun, the campus environment is friendly and welcoming, there is always something going on the keep you excited.
Bang for the buck The tuition was the cheapest of any of the other schools that I looked at. It is really worth it.
Tips for prospective students Get involved, there are so many service opportunities and activities going on on campus. Don't cram, do a little studying everyday.
Great for these types of students Anyone willing to work hard and aren't there just to party.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are great! They're knowledgeable overall on their topic. Religion professors can be hit-or-miss--if you can get a professor on transfer from anther department I would recommended it.
Am enjoying being here If you're not use to living in an area where everyone is LDS (.06% of the students are not LDS) it will initially be a huge culture shock. If you are unsure of your faith it will not be a good fit for you. Be aware that if you decide to change religions while you are still in school, you will automatically be kicked out (even if you're willing to pay the non-LDS price). It can be hard to be a BYU student if you're not the culturally exalted cookie-cutter Molly-Mormon.
Bang for the buck There's no doubt that BYU is the best price for the education it gives but that's because about 70% of your tuition is coming from church members tithing funds.
Tips for prospective students Try to avoid taking American Heritage if possible. The average score on the tests in that class tends to be around 65% depending on the professor and you'll mostly interact with your undergraduate TA who may or may not be completely clueless.
Great for these types of students You will feel most accepted in BYU culture if you're a heterosexual, Caucasian, upper-middle class, young Latter Day Saint. Although some outside this stereotype flourish, you will experience unique challenges and may have trouble fitting in.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences If you want quality education with low cost, this is the place for you. There are plenty of activities here and the academics are rigorous. Sports events can be the best things around here.
Tips for prospective students To become a BYU student, a prospective student must understand that the university is a private institution operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most of the students here will be part of the LDS faith. In other words, religion is very much an integral part of the BYU experience. For someone who is not part of the faith, there will be many unfamiliar terms, practices, and traditions. Religious courses are part of the graduation requirement. Some of them are challenging courses, so do not underestimate them.
Another important factor to know about BYU is that it does not have a spring break. This because of the way semesters and terms, essentially half-semesters with accelerated courses, make up the academic calendar. There are two semesters in a school year: Fall and Winter. The two terms, Spring and Summer, are not mandatory; therefore, it is possible for students to have a 4-month summer vacation!
Freshmen do not have to live on-campus and they can have cars. Social life is mostly based on wards, a congregation in the Church, especially during the first semester. A great way to get into the groove of things is to enter BYU during the Summer Term when things are more relaxed and you can make some friends before your peers who will come in during Fall. Finally, you must comply to the Honor Code if you wish to stay as an eligible student on campus.Academic Rigor BYU has one of the top business schools in the country. The J. Reuben Clark Law School is among the top law schools in the country. The School of Fine Arts produces world-reputable performers in arts such as ballroom dancing, etc. Since BYU is also one of the universities that produce many graduate degree pursuers, it is providing the higher education sought by career-driven and academic-minded individuals.
The optional Spring and Summer Terms allow students to take classes in half the time allotted during the semester, giving students a more challenging environment, and sometimes gain greater progress than peers who only attend classes during Fall and Winter semester. For someone who wants to graduate faster, BYU is definitely a place for consideration.
If you are seeking a professional degree, BYU has its own prep courses to help you with the MCAT, LSAT, etc. The costs of these courses are usually a third of what you would pay for big name helpers such as Kaplan.Dorm Life Dorm life is great here at BYU, especially if you are a freshman. It allows you to make friends closer to your age and may relieve some agitations caused by leaving home for the first time. Due to the religious nature of the university, students will interact with almost everyone in their immediate vicinity.
Dorms, as well as other BYU-approved housing, have their rules. There are certain visiting hours for members of the opposite sex, which details the Honor Code outlines. For dorms, there are resident assistants who can guide and help new students.
Again, freshmen do not have to live on-campus. If you have friends in town and want to live with them, by all means, have fun! The support system is similar wherever you choose to live around BYU.Food and Dining Students can choose to have a meal plan for on-campus locations or cook for themselves where facilities are available. The place to get a balanced meal is the Cannon Center, which operate under a buffet-like system. It is a great place to eat, especially if you are new to BYU.
There are also familiar food places such as Taco Bell and Subway scattered across and around the campus. Some of the campus buildings also contain restaurants such as the Legend’s Grille and Cafeteria at the Museum of Art. Spend some time explore the campus and you shall some interesting gourmet experiences while you attend school.
Last of all, it would not hurt to learn how to cook, or experiment with cooking. College is a great time to explore career options and new things. Culinary experience just another one of those things that adds to your BYU experience. What to do for fun What to do for fun when you are surrounded by mountains? Hiking is something you could do with a group of friends all year round. There are several locations for you to try out, one of them being the famed Y Mountain. Since you are in the mountains, look into skiing and snowboarding. BYU even offers classes that teach you how to do them.
The student government, BYUSA, frequently sponsors events around campus with prizes, fun games, and sometimes free food for the students. When it is all said and done, sports events are your safest bet for a good time. Students can purchase an All-Sports Pass each year that allow them to attend any university athletic event. The Harris Fine Arts Center hosts musicals, recitals, concerts, etc. for those who prefer more artsy activities.
With the exceptions of bars, popular gathering places include bowling alleys, mini golf courts, and intramural sports! There are many options for you to choose from and you will not be bored if you seek them out.Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The LDS temple in Provo, though not part of BYU, is an integral part of students’ lives and their devotion to their faith. Only members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with valid recommend can enter these sacred buildings.
A phenomenon at BYU is the relatively higher population of married students. Family is at the core of LDS doctrine. Please do not be surprised when you see married couples in their early 20s or young parents of that age.Great for these types of students If you are looking for quality education at an affordable price, BYU is the place for you!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences byu-provo has the best atmosphere of any university; it is challenging, extremely social, and very virtuous. the students are so friendly, the faculty are very helpful, and there are numerous events going on everyday. the campus is so beautiful, and the services offered are top-of-the-line.
Tips for prospective students it is extremely competitive to get in, but work your absolute hardest because it is worth it in every way. re-take your act as many times as possible to get the highest scores you can, that is one of the biggest helps. also, be a well-rounded student, with a high gpa, but lots of involvement outside of school as well.
Academic Rigor this school is often colloquially called the harvard of the west, and it really is very challenging. not all majors are that difficult, but the top-notch (and most well-known) ones will require a great amount of effort on your part. however, when you leave byu, you will have received one of the best educations possible, and you will be extremely marketable in the work force.
Dorm Life the dorms are amazing, and the whole environment is set up to help freshmen adjust to college easily and to succeed. they just built several new dorms, with more on the way, and the programs available while in the dorms keep any student from being homesick, from getting too bored, and from not having any friends. and best of all, you do not have to sacrifice your standards here in order to have fun. it is the best option out there.
Food and Dining no, i am not just giving everything five stars for fun. everything really is 5-star quality. the food court (called the cougareat) is great, and you can purchase anything there with your freshmen meal plan. there are also vending machines (with real food in them, like burritos, bagels, fruits, hot pockets and more) in every building along with handy microwaves, and several classy restaurants around campus that are all also accessible with your meal plan. to top it all off, it is one of the best ways to socialize with other students, and fill up your growling stomach before heading off to class or to take a test.
What to do for fun where to begin?! on campus there is a bowling alley and arcade, along with an extensive bookstore (with plenty more than just books), a floral shop, international cinema, various clubs and teams, intramural teams (with lots of sports, including water polo on inner-tubes), great dances, 3 separate and amazing comedy troupes, a dollar theater, plays, concerts, and oh so much more. off campus there are rock climbing places, trampoline gyms, dances, lots of bowling, a nickel-arcade, ice creams and frozen yogurt shops galore, hiking trails, biking trails, snowboarding and skiing places, an indoor beach/arcade resort, and plenty more if you just look. if you try, you will never be bored here in provo.
Bang for the buck byu is a private school, and tuition for latter-day saints (mormons) is subsidized by the school to make the tuition per year to come out to about $4000. non-lds students (who are totally welcome and encouraged!) are not able to be subsidized by the church, so their tuition is a little higher, about $9200 a year. both of those rates in comparison with the nation's average private school tuition are quite the steal! on top of that, byu is ranked extremely high for its business school, its music and theater programs, its accounting program, its law school, and several other great programs. so, you are not just getting an education for cheap, you are getting a top-notch education for very little money. what a deal!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus byu has an amazing homecoming week every year. it involves traditions like hiking and lighting the y (the mountain with a y on it that you can see from anywhere on campus), 4 dances (informal, semi-formal, and formal), daily contests, free food at lunch, a parade on that saturday morning along with free blue pancakes, and of course a great football game later that day. there also is a parents' weekend when parents are invited to come visit their students and take part in some fun activities, like a family 5k, hiking the y, unlimited bowling, service projects, and much more. there are so many more traditions, but so little space. you just have to be here to experience it all!
Great for these types of students students who do well here generally are well-motivated, seeking a quality education, friendly and tolerant of others, open to new ideas and experiences, and above all, committed to living a life of honor. this means upholding the honor code, which includes no cheating/lying/stealing of course, but also things like have a clean appearance, staying morally clean, no drinking/smoking/illegal drug use, and obeying curfew. this may seem strict, but it really is there for the students' protection, and it truly does make for a wonderful and safe environment in which to study, to work, and to play.
Clubs and Activities just about anything you want to do (that doesn't break the honor code) you can! there is a club night with over 150 clubs that meet, so if you want to make friends or practice hobbies or skills, that's the night for you. there are so many events on campus that you don't want to miss, too! also, every tuesday at 11:00 am, all of campus shuts down for a university devotional or forum (depending on which week it is) where a faculty member or esteemed public figure will come and speak to the students. it is a great time to enjoy learning without being held responsible for homework or tests. it also builds campus unity and helps everyone to relax part-way through the week.
Greek Life sororities and fraternities? nope. those activities are against the university's honor code, which again is meant to keep everyone safe and to build a better atmosphere to study and socialize in.
Campus Safety they really do their very best to keep everyone safe here. there is a separate police force solely assigned to campus, and they offer several programs to help everyone be safe. for anyone living on campus, students may request an escort back home in the dark if traveling alone, and a security office will gladly see you to your destination. for freshmen, there is also a safety week that helps teach students about fire risks/prevention/safety, how to prevent break-ins, how to stay safe while alone, and so much more, and it features great prizes to students who participate! there is also a university response system that sends texts, e-mails, and calls to all students/faculty/staff who sign-up to warn them of campus emergencies, like shootings, other crimes, natural disasters, and similar events. byu also provides detailed instructions on their site about being safe on the internet, both in avoiding inappropriate material, and in keeping your computer clean of viruses spyware, and on protecting yourself from identity theft. pretty safe, huh?

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have learned so much since I got here. The classes do cram a lot into a semester, but I guess that's what profession I chose- medical. I'm pretty sure it's going to be like this the entire time I am at school. The professors are all pretty good though, and some of my classes are good enough to change my bad moods into good ones.
Am enjoying being here I am having a hard time here because of the social aspect... I roomed with people who don't like to be socially involved, and, trust me, being involved is like a big part of whether you like the college experience or not. But the school is great, the wards are great, it's just some personal problems that I have that are making me not love college. It's weird being out of my house too, but I'm the oldest, so that could be part of it.
Bang for the buck This is a really cheap school compared to others in Utah. Granted, they don't give out as many scholarships because it's such a big institution, but it is so worth it. The people here are of a high quality and the professors are knowledgable. It's not some cut-rate place.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you take time filling out your essays for your application. They read every essay and it's a big part of whether you get in or not. And be prepared for the rigor of college... AP classes are nothing compared to this.
Great for these types of students Students should attend here if they want to be in a really great environment with a large amount of LDS people while learning and growing.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences If you are interested in the best all-rounded college experiences around, then BYU is for you. Not only are we a top tier university, but we have some of the most amazing students and professors you could imagine. Dont take my word for it, schedule a visit and you'll find out for yourself.
Tips for prospective students When determining which school to attend, there are many things to consider; academia, sports, cost, living, surroundings. If there is one piece of advice I would give, it would be to use your heart, if it feels right than it will be a good fit for you.
Academic Rigor Prospective students, this is a university and a good one at that. Thus, it will challenge you to become better and smarter than you are now; don't be afraid of this, just understand that this is a mark of a good school. I do promise you that it is do able, even if it doesn't seem like it at the moment.
Dorm Life The dorm life is great, but remember it is the dorms and it will be different than what you are used to. There are some really great students here and tons of clubs and activities to keep you busy. It is an experience that I think everyone should at least do for a semester or two.
Food and Dining Food mmmmmm. here at BYU we love food. There are some great places to eat pretty much everywhere. on campus you have things like taco bell and subway ect.. off campus there is about everything you can think of and it is all within five mins away from where you live.
What to do for fun You will live next to two malls that are nice to go to, but the real fun is outside. Utah has all four seasons and it is the best in every season. If you like the snow, we have the best snow in the world. If you like hiking or mountain biking, we live in a valley surrounded by mountains. If you thing is water sports, we have a few lats too... just like a said the best of everything. sorry no Disneyland.
Bang for the buck This is what I think is one of the best parts about BYU. It is one of the cheapest (as far as cost goes) universities you can go to in the world, but at the same time we are always ranked as a top tier university.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have a big 'Y' mid way up one of our mountains, students take the climb up there all the time. It is a great hike, but more than that, when you get up there and you are looking over the entire valley, a feeling of accomplishment and assurance that every thing is going to be okay. Its great.
Clubs and Activities There is a club for almost everything you can think of and it is really easy to get into and participate. Great stuff
Campus Safety Because BYU is religious university, the people that attend are great kids that show respect and love to everyone no matter who you are and what you look like. We of-course have campus police, but I never have seen them talking to anyone about something they did wrong.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences BYU is full of opportunities to grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is not a college where you can slide by and get your degree. A lot of the classes encourage you to learn skills not only applicable to a certain major but also to life.
Tips for prospective students If you want to go here plan on working really hard. BYU only accepts the best, coming from high school where you might have been at the top to a university where you are average can be a difficult adjustment; however, it will push you like never before. Just come ready to work hard and have fun.
Academic Rigor President Samuelson encourages the professors to assign enough reading, studying and homework to equal three hours of homework for every hour in class. I do not think I ever met this actual ratio, but there is a ton of outside work necessary for almost every class. However, all the classes are very passable. I feel like my grades have pretty fairly reflected the effort and time I put into each class.
Dorm Life I did not actually live in the freshman dorms, but I love the housing around BYU! All BYU students are required to live in BYU approved housing. A lot of people think this sounds unfair and like BYU is micro-managing their students life. I was worried about this too at first. However, I soon discovered how nice it is to live in a place where certain standards are expected and enforced. It creates a much safer, cleaner environment without eliminating the chance to have fun and get to know new people.
Food and Dining There is a large variety of restaurants fast food, and grocery stories right around BYU and in Provo. Some of my favorite places are: the BYU creamery, Sammy's, Maceys, and Buy Low.
What to do for fun There are so many beautiful hikes up Provo Canyon and Rock Canyon. Utah Lake is pretty close, but I do not actually encourage swimming in it. There are two malls that are very close. There are fun activities on campus. And a lot of fun activities through the apartment complexes and wards.
Bang for the buck If you are an LDS student you automatically pay half tuition because tithing pays for half of it. I have also heard of several professors who donate their salary back to the university. Both these things added together means you are getting an outstanding education for the lowest price possible.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you are not a member of the LDS church everything will be a little unusual. However, if you are a member it is such a wonderful opportunity to experience Zion. Not all classes but several start with a prayer, there are devotionals almost every Tuesday with professors and General Authorities speaking, and there are lots of campus wide opportunities to serve.
Great for these types of students BYU will be your haven if you are serious about getting an education, love the gospel and want to learn more about it, and if you love to be surrounded by amazing people who you can look to for an example.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs available especially associated with the different majors. There also are a lot of activities in Brigham Square.
Campus Safety For some reason people think everyone in Provo are righteous, trustworthy people. I think because a lot of students are so naive, bad things do happen. Girls have been known to be rapped, but quite honestly it is usually at night when they are walking by themselves. BYU has done everything they can to help prevent this including teaching the students, handing out whistles, and they have emergency phones located throughout the campus. Of course other bad things also happen like stealing, but these are rare.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences BYU has a friendly, uplifting atmosphere where you are surrounded by students and teachers who love to help you and get to know you. It is an environment filled with motivated, hard-working, and honest students. All students I have come across are wonderful people, and truly uphold their moral values.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to work hard! It is no easy task to maintain a high GPA in a demanding college environment, but take the time to get to know professors and TAs, who are more than willing to help you succeed.
Academic Rigor Even the religion classes require time and effort to earn a high grade. Though challenging, professors work with you to help you do your best.
Dorm Life I lived in the apartment-style dorms freshman year. I loved having a kitchen! Made it easy to learn to cook for myself, and to have friends over.
Food and Dining There is a cafeteria if you live in the kitchen-less dorms. There is also a foodcourt with different quick options available, as well as vending machines all over campus. There are also a couple other nice little restaurants, as well as a grocery store on campus.
What to do for fun We don't drink or do drugs here at BYU, which makes us be more creative in coming up with ideas for fun activities. But it sure pays off. It's always easy to find a group of people to have fun with - playing ultimate frisbee, swimming, watching a movie, going to a dance, potlucks, the list is endless.
Bang for the buck Tuition for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is only about $4400 for Fall and Winter semesters combined. For nonmembers, it is about $8800. That is crazy inexpensive for a private university!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Homecoming week includes True Blue Football, where students get to ride a slip-n-slide covered in blue foam, as well as hiking and lighting the Y on the mountain. Another tradition is tunnel singing, where students meet in a tunnel to sing hymns on Sunday nights.
Great for these types of students Want to focus on school without having to worry about getting caught up in drugs and alcohol.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs on campus it is insane! I have heard of everything from a Disney club to social dancing club to a tall person club. Sporting events are also fun activities to attend.
Campus Safety BYU has their own police system to keep things in check.

Tips for prospective students Don't be lazy. Build good relationships with your TA's. Attend church activities. Get to know people in your classes and make study groups. Go to Devotional. It really helps. Get involved. You'll have a lot more fun.
Academic Rigor The classes are hard, but not impossible. You can do well if you put in the time and effort required. Most of the teachers are willing to work with you if you are consistently trying.
Food and Dining Just pack a lunch.
What to do for fun There are always things going on on and off campus. There are parks everywhere for Ultimate frisbee, baseball, or just a walk. Date night at the creamery is always fun too. Get to know the people in your ward. That's where most of the social stuff goes on.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences It is a very academic centered atmosphere on campus, with many references made to the Church. Athletics are also highly valued, and very fun to attend.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to compete against others who are very intelligent, but allow yourself time for fun as well. The library is a great place to study if done in moderation.
Academic Rigor It is a very competitive school, and the professors often expect a lot from the students while also grading on a curve.
Dorm Life Is a fun, good way to meet people your freshman year, but do not stay longer than that as the dorms are almost entirely populated by freshmen.
Food and Dining There is not much dining on campus besides the Cougareat. The Taco Bell there is fairly cheap and popular among students. The cafe in the Museum of Art is good as well.
What to do for fun Athletics/sporting events are very fun. BYU is quite competitive in most major sports. As Provo is a college town, there are also many fun places to go. Spark serves good drinks, and Pizza Pie Cafe has a fun all you can eat/karoeke one night a week.
Bang for the buck For a private school, it is very reasonable. Around 5,000 in tuition for the year.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Creamery on 9th does $3 kids meals that include their delicious ice cream. Graham Canyon ice cream is amazing.
Great for these types of students Students prepared to immerse themselves in academics, as well as people willing to live to a higher standard than most schools required.
Clubs and Activities Tons of clubs in every area. Sporting events are super fun.
Greek Life None-No frats or sororities.
Campus Safety Very safe because parking is ridiculously limited and campus police maintains a gestapo-like presence :) However, the honor code itself helps to establish safety when it comes to crime and violence. Overall very safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences With motivating professors, a stunning campus, and an active student body, Brigham Young University is the perfect college. Research and publication opportunities abound, and the professors really do care about the welfare of their student. The atmosphere of modesty, virtue, and integrity inspire greatness in anyone who sets foot on this campus.
Tips for prospective students My advice to future students at Brigham Young University: if you didn't study in high school and still passed every class and if you think you won't have to study here- brace yourself! These classes are tough, and require an incredible amount of effort. The professors however, truly love their students and want everyone to get an A, so if you put forth the effort and reach out to them, the sky is the limit! Also, don't be distracted by the dozens of fun and exciting events going on around campus every day. It's easy to lose track of time and find that you've had a lot of fun, but failed every class!
Academic Rigor The courses here have not only challenged me academically, but have also tried me spiritually, emotionally, and physically. I love a challenge, and I got one! BYU is not for the faint of heart. It is for the determined, disciplined, and ambitious. If you really want to succeed, you have within you the power to excel here.
Dorm Life I doubt there is a campus in the world with a more friendly, active, and involved student body. There are countless activities planned and executed by the student government in an effort to promote friendship and a feeling of belonging. The friends I have made here will certainly be my friends for life. In fact, I met my husband here, so I owe this school my happiness!
Food and Dining With lots of popular restaurants on campus, as well as a wonderful cafeteria, there is never a shortage of delicious food options.
What to do for fun Where to start? With concerts from the BYU Ballroom Dance Company (current world champions), Young Ambassadors, and a critically-acclaimed orchestra, not to mention their many sports programs (Jimmer Ferdette anyone?), there is NEVER a shortage of things to do.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences BYU welcomes all students. As tacky as it sounds, everyone is smiling and laughing. The courses are rigorous but worth the effort and the teachers care about each individual student.
Tips for prospective students BYU is hard to get into, so make sure you are focused in high school. Try to get a head start by taking higher-level classes such as AP courses and calculus.
Academic Rigor BYU is not an accredited university for nothing, the classes are hard. As long as you do the homework assigned, ask for help when you need it, and study in advance for the tests, you'll do well.
Dorm Life Everyone is really friendly and from all over the US and the world! You'll have lots of fun getting to know people in your area and in your ward.
Food and Dining Campus food is really good and is served in a clean, open, fun environment.
What to do for fun BYU/SA, STAB, and other student-run organizations host almost weekly activities that are inexpensive and lots of fun.
Bang for the buck BYU is one of the cheaper schools there are, and gives a level of education equal to schools that cost two, and even three, times as much.
Campus Safety BYU campus is really safe both physically and spiritually. No one will challenge your standards. There are police men on call to help you walk home or to your car at night.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I really enjoy being at BYU and am excited for next semester to start. The professors are helpful and care about you learning the material well. Most people come from different backgrounds and there is a lot you can learn if you listen to others.
Tips for prospective students Be social get to know everyone you can. Follow the honor code, when you do not it rude. Remember there are quite a few kids that wanted your spot.
Academic Rigor You will get pushed hard, especially if you are a science major.
Dorm Life If dorm life fits your personality you will love. If not it may be challenging. I had a really hard roommate but we made it through the room together in one piece. All of the girls in my hall were great and I got to know all of them.
Food and Dining If you are outside of Utah expect the food to be bland. Especially if you are from the south. The MOA is fantastic and eating in the science center is good. Off campus eating is a little better... Kneaders is a must but I prefer cooking for myself. Do not expect to find good Mexican food or anything spicy. The baked goods are great here though.
What to do for fun I Love going to the gym with my friends and staying in shape. If you are a girl the dry sauna in the locker room is awesome. Try to go to several different plays and sporting events. Get involved in a dance class it is a great way to meet people and be involved in the campus. Go to your ward and game nights are a blast.
Bang for the buck One of the best educations you can get. BYU is a fantastic school with a great cost.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The top of the jsf (large class building) is a great building. The tanner building late at night is a perfect place to study because all of the business majors are gone. On Tuesdays if you wear blue you get free food. The hot chocolate is the best ever!! Taking a ballroom dance class will allow you to meet tons of different people. There is a great river that goes all around campus that I recommend walking around if you get stress. The ducks at the duck pond are funny.
Great for these types of students Any one who does drink or like hard partying. The are still non dinking bars and other places to have fun. Everyone can find a nitch were they fit in. Not for those who want to blow off school.
Clubs and Activities Anything you want you can find. BYU has websties to search all the diffrent types of club. They have so many service activities. Get involved in one. It has made all the diffrence in my life.
Greek Life There is none, but the wards allow you to meet people.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences BYU is a great school for those who wish to avoid the stereotypical college pressures of drinking, partying and having sex. The professors at this university all have impressive resumes and tend to be good about interacting with students on an individual basis, if the student is willing to seek those one-on-one opportunities out. BYU successfully combines a first-rate education with the spiritual aspects of a religious institution without feeling too stuffy, in my opinion.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to uphold all aspects of the Honor Code. This contract is taken very seriously at all venues associated with BYU. If you are not abiding by the standards you agreed to you WILL be turned away from events and opportunities on campus.
Academic Rigor Academics are demanding, as they should be at a first-rate university. You need to be willing to study hard and work hard to succeed. It is possible to maintain a very high GPA but you must be willing to put in the time and effort. This is not an easy school. Your experience will be what you choose to make of it.
Dorm Life Dorms are very social. It is easy to get to know people and develop friendships that will last throughout your college career and hopefully beyond. However, you need to do your part and be open to that social interaction. If you are not actively going out and trying to meet people, you will find it difficult to make friends. Be willing to put yourself out there!
Food and Dining There are a lot of cute, little-known places to eat all over campus. Take advantage of those places. They are particularly awesome if you are looking to go on a date to a more unique dining experience.
What to do for fun Hiking in the canyon, visiting Salt Lake City or Park City, the dollar theatre, lots of on-campus activities and clubs, foreign films on campus, ward/church activities, downtown Provo has cute little venues as well
Bang for the buck This school is basically DIRT CHEAP and yet delivers an amazing educational experience. It is really the best value for a university education in this nation.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus True Blue Football is fantastic! It includes a slip-n-slide covered in blue foam that temporarily dyes your skin blue.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I love the people, and have always had wonderful roommates. The student body is wonderful. The instructors really care about student learning.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to approach your instructors about concerns and get to know your roommates and fellow students.
Academic Rigor Some classes are very difficult, but the instructors will be willing to help if you will approach them. Study groups are usually helpful, as well as a good way to meet new people.
Dorm Life I have always had wonderful roommates. Although housing prices aren't always ideal, by looking through the housing guide offered by BYU you can usually find something not too bad and not too expensive.
Food and Dining There is an alright selection, particularly the L&T Wraps in the Cougareat. However, as a general rule I recommend bringing your own lunch because most of what is offered on or near campus is fast food. When you have a car, however, there are more interesting options within a reasonable range.
What to do for fun There is an ice arena in the area. There are also several movie theaters (dollar theaters included). IF you like the outdoors there are also a few canyons nearby.
Bang for the buck It is a very good education for a very low price. Make sure to sign up for scholarships to help lower this price even further!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It is a largely LDS environment.
Great for these types of students Religious, particularly LDS, students who are willing to live by the honor code (which includes a moral code of conduct).
Clubs and Activities There are a few, but most aren't advertised well. Most majors also have a club.
Greek Life Not much
Campus Safety It is fairly well lit at night and there are campus police.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Brigham Young University not only provides a fabulous atmosphere that is character-building and knowledge strengthening, but also a safe atmosphere that feels like home. Anyone looking for a place to not only gain an education, but also grow spiritually, will not be disappointed. Since being here for three years, it has not only become my home away from home, but I have met thousands of the nicest people and made hundreds of life-long friends.
Academic Rigor I always heard college is hard but didn't know what quite what that entailed. Education is different here at the Y because the professors approach it from a spiritual and religious aspect. Everything you learn is accompanied with principles and life-learned lessons that help to not only connect and tie things together, but to open and expand the world that we learn and live in.
Dorm Life Even though freshman can be energetic and have spontaneous fun, nothing wrong ever took place in the dorms. There is such a high level in the expectations of the students and everyone lives by the honor-code which they sign when they come here. There is never any rough-playing or rule-breaking and all the students are very accepting of one another.
Food and Dining The food at the BYU cafeterias is some of the best food I've ever eaten. Not only are they all set up buffet style, but every meal there are many different options and cuisines that are always very delicious. I also love how all the portions are large and I never feel that I'm getting cheated out of my money when I eat there.
What to do for fun There are hundreds of clubs, activities, and shows that are always going on at BYU. This is because BYU has such a diverse amount of cultures and also majors that help to expand the world of BYU. There is always something going on and usually it is hard to decide what to do because of all the options.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus BYU students care not only about themselves, but about each other and their school. They work together and are constantly holding activities that are free and fun to help the students feel at home here and find their place on such a big campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This University is absolutely superb. The teachers and professors love teaching, are very good at teaching, and truly care about the students. As a church sponsored university we are united in heart, mind and purpose, which allows for a very welcoming and pleasant campus.
Tips for prospective students This isn't just a university for LDS people. There are people of many faiths that attend, but for the most part everyone is welcoming. Study! It's important to have fun, meet new people and build friendships, but don't let it get in the way of studying. It's harder then high school. But still doable.
Academic Rigor BYU is challenging and will bring out the most potential that you have. However, it is not too much that you will not be able to handle it. Just keep it currant.
Dorm Life Dorm life is so much fun! I had the opportunity to live in both sets of dorms (Helaman and Heritage), and they were both fantastic! Friends are easy to make, there are places to hang out and have fun and also a lot of space to play sports.
Food and Dining The Cannon Center gets old pretty fast but it is good food and they always have cereal! In Heritage halls you have your own kitchen so you cook your own food.
What to do for fun Sporting events were always my favorite. The pool has public time and they have a platform you can jump off of. There is a nice gym and an indoor track and a lot of basketball courts and racquetball courts. There are so many really cool places to hike and there is a place to go to listen to music called The Velour.
Bang for the buck Most likely the most affordable University and it is probably one of the best.

Great for these types of students Hard working but also love to have fun.

Greek Life Non-existant

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Attending Brigham Young University is the greatest choice I have ever made and I would never want to go anywhere else to receive my undergraduate degree and beyond. Every professor, classmate, and TA that I have had at BYU as made an impact in my life and greatly improved every aspect of my college education so far.
Tips for prospective students One of the most helpful tips that I could give any college student whether they go to BYU or not is get to know your professors and your TAs (teaching assistants). They want you to succeed and will help you as much as they can. It really makes a huge difference in your grade and your confidence in the class.
Academic Rigor The classes are tough, they are up to par with what you should expect from a college class, but like I said, get to know the people who grade your work. They know more than you and are more than willing to help. Oh, and studying helps too.
Dorm Life On campus housing is great. The RAs (resident assistants) are amazing and are there for you when you need them. They are usually upperclassmen so if you have questions about campus or classes chances are that they have already dealt with what you need help with and can help.
Food and Dining The Cougareat is great. They have such a variety of places to eat including Subway and Taco Bell. The service is quick and the employees are friendly.
What to do for fun Join clubs, go to the Varsity (dollar) theatre, BYU's Got Talent, hike the Y on the mountain, go to the park, play hide and seek in buildings on campus, go sledding, puddle jumping, browse the BYU Bookstore, go to Guitar's Unplugged, the BYU spelling bee. There are so many great student activities on campus and most of them are FREE!

The administration has provided a great many resources to help you identify your interests, hone your study skills, and help you succeed in your undergraduate education.

Food and Dining With the meal plans you can access food on campus by the food court, cafes, creameries, cafeterias, or vending machines any time. If you want to eat healthy, the best way to go is a moderate approach at your cafeteria or other eatery - avoid making the vending machines a habit.

The downtown portion of Provo also has some dancing venues and small venues for local bands and artists. Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The best college experience you could have.
Equal to everyone.
Prepares you for the real world.Tips for prospective students If possible, go into the advisement center and talk to some of the advisers in there to at least get an idea of possible majors you may enjoy as well as have help making a plan for how to complete your degree in the best possible timing. If you don't have a plan, you could be here for a long time and not accomplish anything.
Academic Rigor The classes here are challenging and that is a blessing. The classes here at BYU are made to make you learn. It is definitely not a University where you can give less than your all and come out victor in your classes. It is going to take work, and your hard work will pay off if you do your best. The classes are made to help you grow in the ways that you need to to prepare you for your future out in your career.
Dorm Life Dorm life is super fun. Everyone I know who has been in the dorms has enjoyed it tremendously. You make friends like crazy and are in an awesome environment where everyone can find where they thrive.
Food and Dining BYU has some pretty good dining places - Cougar Eat in the Wilkinson Center, the Skyroom, the Cannon Center etc. All of which have great food for descent pricing. Along with these dining options, there are a number of BYU creameries which have amazing Ice Cream and Dairy products along with other grocery needs that you will need.
What to do for fun The Wilkinson Center has an entertainment area on the lower level where there is a bowling alley, arcade, pool tables, etc and the pricing isn't half bad. On the main floor there is a rental center where you can rent all sorts of outdoor items to play with - giant twister boards, tandom bikes, skates, mountain bikes, etc.
If you are one who likes to dance, or have parties, we do it a little different here at BYU than all the other campuses but we still have a good time. There are many dances throughout the year, and you can almost always find something going on each weekend whether that be people getting together to go play sports, watch movies, or do a variety of other things. All clean fun. No drugs on any of that garbage.Bang for the buck Definitely worth every bit you pay. I would say this especially because of the professors here at the university. In my experience the professors go out of their way to help their students and make sure that they are learning things that are relative to their futures out in the work force. They are almost always very available to meet with and help students who are struggling with concepts and will go out of their way even at times to answer a question a student may have.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well, being cougar town down here in Provo, there are always a number of interesting traditions that go down. One of which is the massive blue foam fight/ water slide that happens the beginning of every Fall.
Great for these types of students Outgoing, fun-loving, honest, wanting an education that pushes them to grow.
Clubs and Activities There are so many different clubs and activities here at BYU that it is almost impossible to keep track of them. More are popping up every day. If you have a desire to find a club to join or even make your own, there are many opportunities to do so. All are very accepting and many of them are very beneficial for gaining experience.
Greek Life Everyone is accepted for who they are and discrimination is pretty much non-existent here so anyone living a Greek Life would be accepted and enjoy their time here.
Campus Safety BYU campus is very safe. We have our own campus police who are very kind and helpful (if you take time to know them). It is also a place where many people when they need to get up and go somewhere real quick (for example when they are in the library and need to go to print something) it is common to see people simply ask someone to watch their stuff for a minute and head off without having to worry about getting ripped off or anything. It is quite nice.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences BYU is incredible. I have found that the atmosphere is perfectly suited to enhance not only one's academic education, but also his or her emotional, mental, spiritual, and social experience as well. In addition to its diverse and challenging courses, BYU provides limitless opportunities to work and play with students from all over the world.
Tips for prospective students Work hard and remember that it is all worth it in the end. Make meaningful connections with your professors and work hard to balance school, work, and play.
Academic Rigor You may want to cry, but if you love it, work for it. If you don't love it, you had better find a different major. But remember, some professors are just not good at what they teach. Ask around and find help from other students and professors before you quit after one bad class.
Dorm Life FAB. U. LOUS. I loved living in the apartment-style houses. BYU actually has a program called Freshman Mentoring In which a group of students from the same housing units are put in a group with a counselor and attend three freshman classes together. It is so helpful for getting to know people well and having study-buddies readily available. Also, BYU's freshman wards are so fun!
Food and Dining Who doesn't love BYU Creamery ice cream? BYU has a huge food court on campus and a half-dozen little grocery stores around campus in the housing areas. There are tons of tasty options for nourishment around every corner.
What to do for fun Provo and Orem combined is huge. You can do it all: skiing, ice-skating, hiking, swimming, boating, and camping and go to the theater, parks, shopping centers, movie theaters, music venues, alcohol-free bars, and dance clubs.
Bang for the buck BYU is crazy cheap for a private school. You don't pay by credit, so as long as you take 12 you can take as many credits as you want (including athletic and dance classes).
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Hike the Y!! (Y-mountain, that is) Additionally, we have true-blue football where we do a giant slip-n-slide in a mount of blue foam. So cool.
Great for these types of students Fun. Intelligent. Religious (it is an LDS school). Ambitious (not for the faint of heart).
Clubs and Activities There are like, 50 billion clubs. Seventy-two alone are dedicated for community service. You can join any dance club, tae-kwon-do club, speech, drama, leadership, etc. You name it, we got it.
Greek Life None. Sorry.
Campus Safety Don't be dumb. If you don't deliberately put yourself in dangerous situations, you will be perfectly fine.

Tips for prospective students Be prepared to work hard, but don't overdo it. Make sure you have moderation in socializing and studying. Your studying will fall behind if you socialize too much, but your studying will also fall behind if you study too much.
What to do for fun Go outside! Find friends and do random crazy things! Chalk the walkways, play sports, find crazy outfits at DI...

Categories Rating Comments Academic Rigor I'm not expecting BYU to be easy, but I'm hoping to be able to learn new things and broaden my horizon. It seems like the professors know what they are talking about and are there to help you. It also helps that this school has good standards and actively involves the gospel in it's classes.
Dorm Life I don't know much about dorm life, except that I have a kitchen. It'll be nice to be able to cook for myself once in a while. It really helped me to look on the website to see what kind or rooms and dorms are available.
Food and Dining BYU offers meal plans, but you can also have the option of not having one if your dorm has a kitchen.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences A competitive fast paced school that still allows room for social and religious experiences. Beautiful campus with great professors that are always willing to help. Focused on enhancing analytical, quantitative, and writing skills.
Tips for prospective students Participate in the honors program, it gives you the chance to push yourself even further. Honors classes are also smaller, so you get to to know and be friends with your classmates.
Academic Rigor There are definitely difficult classes here at BYU, and decent amounts of homework depending on the class. There are your more traditional easy classes, but here at BYU we like to push ourselves to new levels.
Dorm Life I live in off campus dorms. The good thing about BYU is there are definitely enough places to live. There are tons of apartment buildings ranging from cheap and okay quality, to super expensive and amazing quality. If you look hard, you can find good quality at a pretty good price. The social scene is pretty good too, there is always some sort of activity going on.
Food and Dining I buy and make my own food, however when I have gone to the on campus food courts, it has always been really good.
What to do for fun Oh man, the list is endless! The best part is that there are mountains right next to campus. You can go on hikes, camping, mountain climbing, and anything else you can think to do in the mountains. There are ski and snowboard resorts close too. Right close to campus you have activities ranging from bowling to laser tag, from the nickel cade to the movie theatre. The list of things to do is endless, you just have to look around.
Bang for the buck Very good price for the education that you get!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every Tuesday there is a devotional in which LDS church leaders, and lots of other public figures speak. These guest speakers often come from other universities to present.
Great for these types of students LDS members, and religious person, intellectual, etc.
Clubs and Activities I'm sure there are lots of them, unfortunately I haven't had the chance to get involved with them yet as this is my first semester here. But I know there are math clubs, there is the honors program, bowling club, and if there isn't the club you want... make it!
Campus Safety I certainly feel comfortable walking around in the middle of the night. Illegal activities are not tolerated on or around campus!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus This is an LDS college. If you are not willing to follow the Honor Code, don't. Other students want to apply and might not get that chance if you choose to go on an unwilling whim.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Brigham Young University is full of hard working students. This school is clean, sharp, and state-of-the-art . This is not the place to come to party and slack off.
Tips for prospective students Use every resource available here to learn and grow. There are many wonderful opportunities to participate in study groups, research, and other activities. Make the most of you time and realize that this a great university and place to get an education.
Academic Rigor The students here aren't out partying and getting drunk every weekend; they are studying. This school has great teachers, but they expect you to keep pace with the rest of the student.
Dorm Life There's great people to meet and date, but not very many crazy parties if you're into that sort of thing.
Food and Dining There's plenty of option for food in Provo and on BYU campus. You'll be sure to find what you like.
What to do for fun There's many music and performance venues in Provo, and there are more clubs and activities run through BYU than you could attend in your four years here.
Bang for the buck The teachers are wonderful faithful people. They work hard and will help you if you ask. Use them as much as you can!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus BYU's library is the place to go to get a date or phone number. All you have to do is ask.
Great for these types of students This school is great for religious, clean-cut, hard-working students who want a group of kids to hang out with who won't get them into trouble and who will most likely push them to do better in school!
Clubs and Activities Limitless; you name it, you can find it.
Greek Life There's not really any sororities on campus
Campus Safety Very well monitered by campus police, very very low crime rate on campus... close to none at all. BYU is a safe place to be attending school.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences A great place for Lds students to get a great education while being able to openly practice their faith. There is not a lot of diversity to be found, and the weather can get ugly, but BYU has a good atmosphere for learning. BYU graduates are known for their ability to work in a global environment and for their leadership skills.
Tips for prospective students Don't get too caught up in doing every activity. Byu has so many clubs and groups to join and no one can do it all. You have to choose what you want to do. Bring a good winter coat and get in shape because your going to have to climb a big hill to get to campus everyday. People at byu are smart, so don't get discouraged if you can't ace every class. Focus on what you're good at.
Academic Rigor Byu can be hard, but it is possible to get the grades you're looking for. Classes are curved so there will always be someone with a good grade, just try to make sure it is you. Working in study groups is the best way to meet people while learning what you need to do well
Dorm Life Byu has more dating than any other school you will find. The dorms can get a little cliquey, but once you find your friends it will ne fun living there.
Food and Dining Meal plans at byu need to be improved. There arnt too many choices and they tend to be expensive. If you can live in heritage halls and cook for yourself, I recomend it.
What to do for fun Provo doesn't have a lot of options when it comes to activities. You fan hike the y, go bowling, and watch movies. Being creative becomes key in enjoying your time at byu.
Bang for the buck For how good of an education byu is, it is the cheapest university there is. If you are worried about finances, you ain't go wrong in choosing byu for your education.
Clubs and Activities The only problem is that there are too many to choose from.
Greek Life There is none. Sorry.
Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe at byu, but there have been a few instances of violence in the past. As long as you don't walk alone at night you should be fine.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences BYU has exceeded my expectations and has had the most fulfilling curriculum out of all the colleges I have attended. Part of the reason is because the teachers find ways to keep the students interested and passionate about the subjects. Not only are the classrooms great, but the atmosphere is marvelous with great weather during the spring and summer, as well as the people are eager to excel.
Tips for prospective students Because there is so much to do here, I would definitely advise having time management skills or expecting to manage your time efficiently. Also, TAKE advantage of all that there is to do here! You will be busy, but every opportunity and activity will be worth your while.
Academic Rigor The class material isn't so much hard as the course load is heavy. There is a lot of material to learn all at once, which is the tricky part. The grading system is very fair, and even though it is a lot to keep up with there are a lot of services and help if you need it.
Dorm Life I transferred here so I never stayed in the dorms, but the BYU-on campus housing is very nice for the most part. There are a lot of options to choice from, which is nice because you are able to meet your specifications easier for what works best for you.
Food and Dining There are a lot of restaurants in the cafeteria to chose from that is of normal quality if you were to go out to a fast-food restaurant.
What to do for fun There are millions of service activities (if that fits your fancy), there are also social dances, performances and shows in all areas of the arts, skiing/snowboarding in the mountains, and skiing on the lake. Also, there are many shops from clothing stores to indoor rock climbing.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Brigham Young University is an excellent place to study, socialize, and prepare for a career. As it is a religious academy, a high moral standing is required of the people who attend, which may make Brigham Young University less appealing to some, but to others it makes the university a more attractive prospect. The university also provides many opportunities for part time work, ranging for tutoring to janitorial work to hawking concessions at football games.
Tips for prospective students If you're considering Brigham Young University, work hard in high school, and keep a high moral standing. Admission is far less rigorous than many schools, but expectations are still high for prospective students. Furthermore, an ecclesiastical endorsement is required for all entering students, and upon entering students are required to follow an honor code.
Academic Rigor The classes range in difficulty, but getting high marks is more difficult here than in many schools in Utah. It is a highly competitive school and does not hand out many easy A's.
Dorm Life Some really enjoy the atmosphere of BYU whereas others find it suffocating. If you can live by the honor code, and enjoy being with many LDS people, then it is an excellent dorm life.
Food and Dining Brigham Young University offers a variety of dining plans and options. Furthermore, there are many restaurants in both Provo and Orem. The Brick Oven is a popular BYU hangout.
What to do for fun There's a lot to do in Provo. Not all of the options can be listed, but there are many websites devoted to the many things there are to do as a student of Brigham Young University.
Bang for the buck Brigham Young University is one of the best Bang for the buck schools. Tuition differs for LDS students and non-LDS students, but is cheap either way for the level of education provided.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Brigham Young University is a fantastic school! I love the atmosphere. It is a somewhat competitive school, I feel like there are a lot of perfectionists when it comes to grades. But, the people and professors are kind and fun!
Tips for prospective students Keep on smiling! If you are nice to those around you and to your professors you will make more friends and connections which can help a lot in school. Also, if you love what you study you will be much more likely to succeed, so try your best to enjoy school! It helps a ton!
Academic Rigor BYU can be a difficult school. Your expected to put in a lot of effort. But I do know of some people who scrape by. I personally think it's better to try your best though, it makes school much more enjoyable!
Dorm Life The dorms are fun and really nice. BYU just built new Heritage Halls, and they are sweet!! Brand new, with kitchens! I personally have always liked having a kitchen, also I think it helps to keep you away from the freshman 15.
Food and Dining The school has quite a few options as far as food goes. There is a massive cougar eat with loads of fast food places that are really quite good, and not too pricey. There are also a couple of nice restaurants on campus, like a great place in the Museum of Art or the Eyring Science Center. Both of those places make for great dates!
What to do for fun There's tons to do for fun! especially in the summer! All the outdoor activities you can think of, great hiking, lots of parks close to campus, at leas 5 of your friends will live at some place with a pool, cause loads of places have pools. Also, since its a college town there are great cheap things to do too! Like comedy clubs, tumbling gyms, dollar theater, and more!
Bang for the buck This School is waaayyyyy cheaper than a ton of other schools! because it is a religious school, it cost a lot less. But just because it costs less doesn't mean it's worth less, it's a great school!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are loads of random little secrets about BYU. Like the random science things in the ESC, the old movies played in the library, and more!
Great for these types of students Great for students who have high moral standards but still want to have a great time in their college experience! If you want to be able to intertwine you love of God with you love of school, BYU is definitely the school for you!
Clubs and Activities There are TONS of clubs on campus! Ranging anywhere from chess to Tae Kwon Do to sword fighting. there are always really fun free clubs too! There's a Hip Hop Club, a country Swing Club, great dancing activities for dates!
Greek Life BYU doesn't really have a Greek life. But there is still a great sense of unity throughout the school.
Campus Safety Campus is really safe, almost too safe! The police beats you will read in the campus news paper are at least ten times better than any comics! Bad things rarely happen, so they have to come up with other stuff, like suspicious man was seen outside the testing center wearing an orange hat, he was seen to have said he liked babies. when police arrived, there was no man with an orange hat. I;m not even kidding! they are great!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences BYU is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and is therefore a conservative, religious university. It has a wide range of great programs from its nationally ranked Marriott business school to its world renowned language and cultural studies to its engineering and biology departments. BYU is culturally diverse with students from all over the world including the Pacific islands and the Middle East.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for a party school this is NOT school for you. If you are looking for a good education at a school with high moral values this is the place for you.
Academic Rigor I attended one of the top public high schools in the country, took all honors and AP classes, and did well. BYU is academically challenging, but not impossible. If you attend your classes and study you will do well.
Dorm Life The dorms are always clean, and the new Heritage Halls are SUPER nice. Boys and girls do live in separate buildings and visiting hours are super restrictive, which sucks. Also there is the strange social taboo that only freshman live in on-campus housing (excepting RAs) so if you are an upperclassmen you will probably be living off campus in an apartment or house.
Food and Dining The cougar eat on campus in the student building is really nice with a Taco Bell and a Subway and other places ranging from burgers to Chinese food. There are also school owned restaurants scattered across campus all of which are very good but usually overpriced.
What to do for fun The dating scene is huge at BYU because everyone wants to get married. I myself am weary of this because I feel that the students don't take marriage seriously enough, but as long as you make clear you're dating for fun you should be ok. Also there are lots of outdoorsy things like hiking and skiing. There is a dollar theater not far from campus that usually had good movie choices.
Bang for the buck Great education in world-class programs for under $12,000 total cost per year. Tuition is around $2000 for LDS students and $4000 for non-LDS students per semester. The biggest cost is housing.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus It is customary that all Freshman have to hike the Y (on the mountain right above campus there is a giant Y painted on the side and there is a hiking path up to it).
Great for these types of students Mormons/LDS, Muslims, any conservative Christians who want to avoid the pressure of a party school. Also great for people looking for a great education on a budget.
Clubs and Activities BYU Student Association website has a list of all school clubs. They range from cultural clubs like German club to pre-med and pre-dental clubs.
Greek Life None whatsoever. No frats or sororities.
Campus Safety Pretty safe. Thefts are very rare and no one is ever mugged.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This is a great religious school with a positive atmosphere. The teachers incorporate gospel doctrines with every subject taught in class, providing a well-rounded education. The social life is also very good, especially since everyone encourages each other to abide by the honor code and have clean fun.
Tips for prospective students College is just like high school, except you don't get participation points. You have to pay attention to what you are learning in your classes if you expect to do well on assignments and tests.
Learn as much as you can about campus and the organizations offered there, because there are so many opportunities at BYU. You can meet professionals in all different fields, easily find a job or internship, or even just get free food or t-shirts on campus.
Make time to go to devotionals. They are uplifting and just a good way to relax from the stress of the day. Plus, everything is closed on campus during devotional.Academic Rigor How hard your classes are depends a lot on your major, but for most students BYU isn't a breeze. Luckily, though, the professors are very friendly and willing to help or have teaching assistants who will help you if you are struggling as well.
Dorm Life BYU is a very social place, with activities going on all day every day. And since everyone agrees to live by the honor code, you don't have to deal with drugs, drunkenness, inappropriate sleepovers, or any of the other awkward situations you might normally expect at a university. People are generally very friendly with each other and the resident assistants are very knowledgeable. Also, most of the housing is under good repair.
Food and Dining I haven't actually been to the Cannon Center, but from what I hear it is quality food albeit fattening. Each of the freshman housing areas has its own creamery/grocery store, which is convenient but outrageously expensive. There is also a food court called the Cougareat on campus. And every building has its own set of vending machines if you need a quick snack and you don't want to wait in line.
What to do for fun The student center has a bowling alley to which each student gets one free game per semester. The athlete building has racquetball courts, a swimming pool, and all kinds of other recreational activities. The science building has interactive models that are fun to play around with and a planetarium with awesome light shows. Auditoriums all around campus can be scheduled for a movie night with your friends on the big screen. Every Tuesday is club night, and if you go to the science center, you can learn to dance or play ping pong. Or you can visit nearby attractions, like Trufalga or Seven Peaks or go see a movie at the dollar theater.
Bang for the buck Tuition is really low for such an amazing university, especially if you are a member of the LDS church. Most of it is paid for by church member's tithing, which is how it is able to be so low.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus All of the buildings have their own nicknames or are called by their acronyms, ex. HFAC or SWKT (Swicket). When you come to campus, you also become familiar with places like the Duck Pond or Freshman Hill.
Great for these types of students Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be musically gifted to come to BYU! BYU is a great place for anyone who is smart, driven, interested in religion, or looking for a great place to make friends or meet that special someone.
Clubs and Activities At the beginning of the year, BYU holds a club fair so students can go and obtain information about each of the clubs. Each department has their own club, which is great if you need study partners or you are interested in learning more about the research in that particular field. But you don't have to be taking a class to join a club. You can join any club you'd like or just go to the social dancing club's activity one time for a great date!
Campus Safety BYU has a lot of systems in place to ensure the safety of their students. Students at BYU tend to be more trusting than most people, and there are some in the world who take advantage of that. So, there are booths all around campus where at the touch of a button you can call a police officer to escort you across campus or home in the middle of the night. Also, you can sign up to receive text messages if there ever is a gunman or any other immediate danger on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Brigham Young University is very student friendly, with professors who care about the performance of their students. The education found at BYU is recognized and respected in many parts of the world.

Brigham Young University provides a wide array of opportunities for students to get involved in. BYU has incredibly qualified professors, dedicated to devoting their time to their students and optimizing course material.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences byu is a fantastic institution; i have dreamed of attending here since i was a little kid, and it has not only fulfilled, but exceeded all my expectations. students are given the opportunities they need to grow mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically. the campus is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the classes are engaging – it has everything i was looking for in a college.
Tips for prospective students before you come to byu, make sure you develop and establish good study habits. many students come thinking that they can get through their classes without doing homework or putting in very much study time, and then end up failing many of their general education courses. save time, effort and money by committing to study and excel in your freshman classes. those classes should be the easiest, and they will help boost your gpa. however, don't let grades spoil all your fun – make the time to go out and be social! the football and basketball games are lots of fun, especially if you get a group together and go. also, try and make devotionals a priority. byu does a great job at helping its students grow and develop in all aspects of their lives. take advantage of all those opportunities!
Academic Rigor the classes here are definitely challenging. getting an a in most classes (especially in the upper classes) will require time and effort on your part. do not assume that the study habits you had in high school will suffice once you get into college. go into your first semester with the mentality that you will have to put school first, and you will be ahead of the game.
Dorm Life there are three on-campus housing options for single students – wyview, heritage halls, and helaman halls. wyview and heritage are both apartment-style, with helaman halls being the only actual dormitories. i lived in helaman, and i enjoyed it for the most part. there is always something going on, and it is pretty easy to get to know your whole floor (about 32 people) pretty easily. the rooms are pretty small, and eating at the canon center (the central cafeteria) gets old pretty quick.
Food and Dining there are a lot of options for food and dining on campus. the canon center is in the middle of helaman halls, and is a typical cafeteria. the creamery and its outlets have great ice cream, and really good burgers. the moa cafe is open for lunch, and it serves some good food, but it is pretty expensive. the food court in the student center has a taco bell, a subway, a terriyaki stix, plus a burger grill, italian option, soup and salad, and a grab & go section. also in the student center is the skyroom, which is a buffet; it's expensive and doesn't taste that great.
What to do for fun there is always something going on; go out and find your niche! the football and basketball games are always highly attended and are tons of fun. there are several neat arts performances, including world of dance and byu extravaganza. provo has lots of cheap things to do, such as nickel arcade, classic skating center, ice skating, seven peaks, trafalga, and comedysportz. byu is in the middle of a valley, and super close to the mountains; if nature's your thing, byu is the place for you. hike the y or mt. timpanogos, go up to sundance, go skiing at any of the nearby resorts, have a bonfire in the canyon...if there's something you love doing, you can probably do it in provo.
Bang for the buck byu is probably the cheapest school out there (if you have lds tuition). not only is it super inexpensive, you get a top-rate education!

Tips for prospective students study hard for the act/sat so as to be competitive during the application process. a high score with an exemplary high-school gpa will help extremely in the process.
Academic Rigor brigham young university is an academically engaging atmosphere that prepares students for tomorrow and makes them excel in their fields of study. this university is the most compelling and academically rigorous of the three i have attended.
Dorm Life byu is centered upon social interaction. even the professors encourage dating and getting to know classmates. combined with the predominant student body being members of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints, there is always something promoting socialization.
Food and Dining provo is a town with many differing restaurants and fast-food places. since two universities are close by, and international students attend both, a wide range of food choices are available. definitely a plus when dating!
What to do for fun there is a wide range of activities to participate in either provo or orem. activities range from a local water park, an ice skating rink, to almost any other activity imaginable. there is an ample amount of fields scattered around to quickly organize any sport also.

Dorm Life it is really amazing being able to be on your own and it helps me feel more mature, cause shopping, studying, etc. is up to me . my roommate's are incredible also, that helps.
Food and Dining a lot of good restaurants around town to choose from and take a date to. food on campus is adequate, could have more selections to choose from, but it's better than spaghetti.
What to do for fun go out on lots of dates.
Bang for the buck byu is affordable tuition wise, but food and rent can get expensive, yet it is still fair.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus get married!
Clubs and Activities clubs are a great place to meet people. a lot of different clubs: hip hop, chess, dodge ball, etc.

Dorm Life the dorms are great. the only problem is that if you don't have a car, you are kind of stuck on campus.
Food and Dining food is always available, but not all of it is edible. it's not the same as eating at home every night. mostly, the food is great, but sometimes it's not.
What to do for fun we have a lot of planned university events: dances, comedy shows, foam parties and a lot more. some weeks though, there is nothing and things can get boring. there are a lot of things to do for fun on campus, but not so much around provo!
Bang for the buck definitely the best bang for the buck. the tuition super cheap and affordable, you can pay the tuition off by working during school. it's really manageable.

Tips for prospective students be outgoing! get involved in different programs and clubs. there are so many opportunities to learn new things and to become a better person. take advantage of your time here and enjoy what it has to offer.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences in a time when many religious affiliated universities have lost the spirit of what their school at one point represented, brigham young university has held true to the principles and standards upon which it was founded. apart from the moral conduct that is taught, it offers a top-notch education and it's students go on to make important contributions to society. regardless of one's religious background, this school is not only an excellent option, but a grand opportunity for all college seeking persons.
Tips for prospective students learn discipline and ethics. byu will teach you not only academics, but many principles that will go on to help you in all aspects of life. take the opportunity seriously and adhere to the strict standards of the school.
Academic Rigor among the finest schools of the nation. a curriculum that can compete with any other.
Dorm Life a great atmosphere to begin the college experience. one experiences the fun social life that is associated with the dorms, while not experiencing many of the negative parts, dude to the honor code that the school maintains. (there is no drinking, partying, co-ed dorms, etc.)
Food and Dining there are great and affordable meal plans. there are various options so that one can select according to their individual circumstances.
What to do for fun apart from the local music/arts scene, the school itself very regularly host many concerts, dances, festivals, and other enjoyable activities. utah is full of beautiful spots for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, or just enjoying the beauty of nature. there are some of the world's best locations for skiing or snowboarding that are very close to provo. also, top-notch sports programs.
Bang for the buck very affordable, when compared with other colleges. the church subsidizes a huge part of the tuition for everyone. so even those who are not members, although the price differs from that of the member, receive a quality education at an extremely affordable rate.
Great for these types of students those who enjoy the arts. those who enjoy the outdoors (especially skiing/snowboarding). and those who enjoy a great social life consisting of wholesome activities. at first i wasn't too sure about going to a school that to me seemed overly strict, but now i am so glad that i made the decision to go. i have never regretted it, and wouldn't consider attending any other university at this point in time.
Clubs and Activities so many organizations that i can't even begin to list.
Campus Safety lots of security. also, the routes around campus are designed to be well lit and as safe as possible.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences brigham young is full of life and spirit and is centered on giving the students here more than an education. they connect religious beliefs and living an overall better life in every classroom setting, providing each student the individual attention where needed. the people here are very diverse despite the stereotypes many assume and never fails to reward both, mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually.
Tips for prospective students plan ahead. be sure that, when you decide to take your sat or act, you take your time to prepare. although academics and your score is not everything, it does show a lot about how willing you are to make sacrifices for a wonderful education! so, prepare now to prevent failure or disappointment later.
Academic Rigor the average student here merely says i'm only taking 14 credits where other university students often gawk at such a work load! the students here strive for perfectionism and many teachers throw in hard questions so that there can be an actual grading curve on tests. it is true, the students here truly are the best of the best and most all have attitudes where getting a b+ feels like failure. academics are difficult, but fair. they are so rewarding in the end, never failing to provide opportunity for growth and learning and definitely making us all better and more intelligent people in a forever changing world.
Dorm Life fantastic! with many opportunities and places to live, one can choose from a traditional dorm with a campus eatery buffet, to an apartment style dorm a little farther away but still considered on-campus dorm housing. there are always activities and adventures waiting! dance parties to hunger game type style competitions (minus the deaths of course!!!) to open-mic nights to study groups and more!
Food and Dining there are three on-campus housing areas, one traditional dorm style, one full on apartment style living, and one slightly in-between. all three can be a part of the cannon center where it's all you can eat meals and heritage and wyview provide that opportunity or a certain amount of dining dollars a week, where you can spend it at the cannon, at the creamery (mini grocery stores right next to the housing areas), or directly on-campus at the food court (taco bell, subway, and more!). the food never ceases to be delish! from burgers, to international, to salad and fruit! plus, breakfast all-day long if you so desire.
What to do for fun there are always comedian shows and dances and game-nights and ballets and plays and anything and everything imaginable. there is always something going on. from board games in your apartment, a basketball game with the guys, to bowling on-campus...everything!
Bang for the buck $2400 a semester! who wouldn't want that. housing ranges from heleman (being the traditional dorm) at around $700 a month to wyview being around $300 a month. wyview is the nicest apartment style living on or off campus for the price and condition it is in!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus oh the names. from h fack (hfac) to swicket (swkt) to the wilk (wsc) and more. traditions...at basketball games, all the chanting for every single different throw or pass, to football game flash mobs to true blue! (sliding down a blue foam covered slide during homecoming...it truly is great!)
Great for these types of students anyone really. but definitely those who want an amazing education in an environment free from drugs, alcohol, smoking or other seemingly crazy party habits. there are tons of ways to have fun and still remember what you did the night before.
Clubs and Activities too many to name. music to golf to ping-pong to medieval and so on.
Greek Life none.
Campus Safety call campus police anytime...even if it is slightly suspicious. the worst that could happen is they show and nothing went wrong. and, you have the great prospect of showing up in the police beat.

Tips for prospective students brigham young university is highly focused on academic achievement, not partying and socializing. although its a fun and clean school, there are a lot of students who are very serious about their academics. don't come to this school if all you want to do is party.
Academic Rigor i mostly see students studying on campus more than i see them socializing. the socializing happens more off campus, once on campus, its all about getting work done.

Food and Dining food and dining in one word...delicious. they have areas all over campus to eat. their is the cannon center here at byu which is the main source of food for food and dining purposes. the cannon is organized in a buffet style and it's amazing. the food is always hot and ready to eat. you would think the food would get boring after eating there everyday, but i guarantee it doesn't. you sometimes never know what you're going to get which makes it even more fun. there is a wide variety of healthy options as well as not so healthy options such as the grill bar, but byu makes sure students are properly fed and nourished.
What to do for fun i haven't gone a day here at byu without having fun. there is always something to do, whether it's going to sporting events, carnivals, dance parties, social events with tons of free food, sledding, skiing, movies, scavenger hunts, hiking, devotionals, and so much more. byu provides great social activities on and off campus that provide for the best college experience any student could ever ask for.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences a unique blend of spirituality and secular learning. byu offers great academics with a great blend of on campus activities and sports. with many diverse programs that rank nationally, byu is a great launching pad for your future and faith.
Tips for prospective students get involved. byu is not a place to be bored on the weekend! find some friends, a club or a team and love every minute of it!
build relationships. some of your best friends will be the people that you decided to make important in your life by spending time with them.Academic Rigor depending on what you are wanting to study, byu has some of the best professors in the country (i.e. accounting, information systems, nursing, etc). this is a place where you will have to work for your grade but you will also find easily accessible resources to help you get your feet on the ground.
Dorm Life with a heavy concentration of lds students, almost everyone you see at your dorm or apartment will be at your church. this allows for a unique friendship that goes to a deeper spiritual level and can help bolster your trust in each other. the dorm rules are awesome! as a transfer student, nothing was more annoying than a late night kegger or finding a girl in your roommates bed... you don't get that here.
Food and Dining cafeteria food is cafeteria food. not too special but not bad. if you eat frequently at the cannon center, it gets old. there are a few hidden gems of great food on campus but you'll have to find those yourself.
Bang for the buck an lds student will pay around $4,000 for 2 semesters of school. when i did my research, you had to go to a military academy to get this level of academic excellence for less than this. byu enjoys a large endowment from alumni allowing almost any student who qualifies (gpa requirements) to get full or half tuition scholarships.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This school serves the purpose of learning in every way: to gain knowledge, to prepare for anything, and to be a light unto others. There is hardly any good that you cannot get out of Brigham Young University, and no light brighter to be found on any other campus.
Tips for prospective students Prepare to be enlightened and to be a light.
What to do for fun Free movies in the Library (go figure) and in several buildings around campus hosted by their respective colleges. Being near Brigham Square at any hour of the day there is always some sort of dance, show, or opportunity to meet people.
Bang for the buck Absolutely.

Campus Safety I've left my purse on the bathroom floor, my backpack open in the hall, and my laptop on a table. Except for the occasional visit from UofU around football time, you're safe. There's a great police system where if there is ever a campus emergency, you're aware anywhere at all.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences BYU has a great environment and atmosphere. It is a great place to learn and the teachers are willing to help. There are so many activities to go to, that you have the chance to always be busy and have fun.
Tips for prospective students Don't procrastinate. Ask the teachers for help as well as the TAs; they are willing to help you. Get involved in something that you will enjoy. Take fun classes too.
Academic Rigor Some classes are hard, but if you attend class, do your homework, and ask for help when you need it, then it is not too bad. Some classes are easier, but definitely worth doing your best in instead of gliding through.
Dorm Life Dorm life is fun because the Resident Advisers are willing to help with school and social life, it is easy to find friends in your same situation, and because it is easy to find activities and fun things to do.
Food and Dining Meal plans are great ways to get good food, especially the Cannon Center. The Cougareat is the food court at BYU and it has a variety of food to choose from. There are also plenty of vending machines around campus with a variety of snacks to pick from.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I felt like in high school, there wasn't much real learning going on. The majority of classes simply required a regurgitation of the information spelled out on a power point. College is a different ball game. In order to succeed, you must actually take in information-become truly EDUCATED. I have learned more in college than I ever learned in high school.
Am enjoying being here I love being at BYU. There is a drive present among all the students that really motivates you to work your hardest, and achieve anything and everything that you want to. Being around so many people that hold the same standards that you do is also a comforting feeling, and makes the entire college experience a little more bearable.
Bang for the buck Well, BYU holds the top standard for students. You'll hear lots of complaining about the number of scholarships given out, and how hard they are to keep. However, whether or not you are on scholarship at BYU, the education is worth the money.
Tips for prospective students There are so many little things that I wish I would have known before coming to BYU. First of all, NEVER take the 8 a.m. or late night classes. It's impossible to stay attentive! If possible, schedule all of your classes close together, and early in the day so that you have the rest of the day to study. Spreading your classes out over the whole day just leaves you with little pockets of precious time to waste. Also, take as much advantage of the TAs as you can!! They will become one of your best resources! Many classes will have upwards of 200 students, so one-on-one time with the professor will be extremely limited. Get to know your TA! Be friendly! You never know what kind of person you'll sit next to!
Great for these types of students If you were hard-working, driven, and dedicated to academics in high school, then BYU is the place for you. It is not the place if you are lazy and like to be spoon-fed. Independence and motivation are two very important traits to have if you are coming to BYU. However, I was one of the straight A students in high school, and I have really had to work. Don't come expecting college to be a breeze. It's not!! But, if you set your mind to it, you really can accomplish a lot!

There are so many that have a such an intense understanding of their subjects and they teach to enlighten their students. They are examples of scholarship and honorable character Not that every professor and class is the greatest in the world, but there are so many mentors here who want to help you succeed. Am enjoying being here BYU is fun as far as college goes, but it can be hard to adjust. Make sure that you enjoy the LDS culture completely. It was really hard for me to be used to be surrounded by Mormons.
Bang for the buck BYU is one of the cheapest colleges out there, especially if you are LDS. It is a really great education, especially considering how much it costs. To get the best out of your money, have a meal plan, whether you live on campus or not.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot To all readers,
Brigham Young University is an unique and special campus. We are among the finest professors who care deeply about each student. In my short 5 months that I've been here for my first semester I have learned more than I did in 2 semesters in high school. Although there is a plethora of information consuming you in each class, the teachers make it enjoyable by interesting assignments. Besides scholastically, I have learned more about who I am and many different cultures and aspects of the world, as there are thousands of international students that attend BYU.Am enjoying being here Provo, Utah is simply enjoyable. It is a friendly college town with smiles and fun all around. Each weekend there are dance parties to attend, service projects to volunteer for, or a sports game being played. Our varsity sports are top notch and very fun to watch and there are so many activities to choose from. Although life is what ya make it, here at BYU there's no way you cannot enjoy yourself.
Bang for the buck Brigham Young University is one of the most least expensive private universities I know. With a tuition of a little over $4,000 for a fall-winter year, BYU students get the best bang for the buck. The prestige and honor of being a cougar for the price you pay is unbelievable. For those who want to pay less and receive a top-notch education, BYU is the place for you.
Tips for prospective students Dear future students,
Do not forget your purpose for attending college-to learn and grow. It can be distracting between a social life and homework (and sleep occasionally), but put your priorities in order and study. Studying at a university is the biggest change from high school for it requires hours upon hours for each test. You must prepare. On the flipside, don't forget to have fun and try your best to find your balance.Great for these types of students Those who:
-Love to volunteer
-Want to be academically challenged
-Live by the honor code
-Want a diverse and interesting experience, unlike any other.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers here are very kind and want to help you LEARN not just to get an A. In high school I was a straight A student and always worked for that letter grade. I have finally learned that it's OK to get a B as long as you're learning and achieving new heights. I have loved all of my classes and have learned a lot about this wonderful world we live in.
Am enjoying being here I love this school. The campus is not too hard to find your classes in, once you know your way around a little bit. The environment is amazing. Everything is clean and classy. You don't hear swear words thrown around every which way and never have to worry about seeing others who are inappropriately dressed. It's a place that you can bring your children to without worrying. Plus, it's an absolutely beautiful campus!
Bang for the buck Tuition rates here rock! Of course even I wish they were lower(everyone wants cheaper tuition), but compare to other schools I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the difference. Would you rather pay $20,000 or $2,000 for the same amazing education?
Tips for prospective students Go a day before classes and find your classrooms. It'll make the first day of school MUCH easier.
When you do your readings for classes, take notes! It will help the information to stick MUCH better!Great for these types of students Students who wish to excel and learn!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Each class here is a new experience and will be fascinating for you to take. I love every one of my classes, even the subjects I had previously detested prior to college. I have developed a love of learning here as I see how much each of the professors care about their subject. I have also learned so much about the gospel of the LDS church as each class ties in the gospel to its teachings in some form or another. In addition, to what I have learned in class, coming to BYU has taught me how to manage my time, be more efficient in my studying, and become independent.
Am enjoying being here I have been so impressed by the people here at BYU. Everyone I talk to has been courteous and genuinely nice. Every single one of my classes is interesting. I feel the Spirit so strongly every day. I love the fact that we say a prayer before each class begins. Every Tuesday BYU holds a Devotional where a guest speaker speaks on a different subject. I make a point to attend every devotional because I feel the Spirit every time I go. In addition, there are so many opportunities to get involved and have fun. There are regular dances, hiking, games, bowling, 1 dollar movies, plays and concerts that are 2 dollars for freshmen, and every Monday night is Family Home Evening where you and a group of kids have some sort of activity, giving you a nice socializing opportunity and an opportunity to take a break from studying.
Bang for the buck BYU is considerably cheaper than most institutions. There is also a financial aid office and website students can go to to receive assistance in finding the right financial aid services for their needs.
Tips for prospective students Keep a planner and plan out all of your time for studying and make sure to include time for socializing. It is really easy, now that you are on your own in college, to become too focused on school work or too involved in a social life. It is important to balance your time, so plan out how you use your time so you can check to see if you have a balance. In addition, join study groups. The leading factor towards doing well in a class is if join a study group.
Great for these types of students BYU is great for students who are serious about an education and finding a career. The academic and career advisement centers are open every day to assist students who do not know what major or career they want to pursue, or to find a path for students who know what job they want but do not know how to get there. BYU is also for those who are serious about the LDS church. Every class incorporates LDS doctrine into it. Lastly, BYU is great for students who are looking for friends as all of the people are open, friendly, and will say Hi to you as walk down the street.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I learn new things every single day. The information is fresh and interesting, presented in a way that is not only informative but often entertaining. I learn things that are relevant to me and to my life, and I learn things that are just neat to know. I feel like I learn as much--if not more--in these 50 minute class period than I did in the 1 1/2 hour class periods of high school.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful, neat, and simple. It is very easy to find your way around, and if you need any help there are service desks everywhere. If you don't know where to find a service desk, you can simply ask one of the many students walking around, studying, or just relaxing. It is fun, there is so much to do. There are activities, seminars, forums and devotionals. You can learn anything just by going to a lecture. I love being here!
Tips for prospective students My biggest tip would be prepare to study, and be prepared to learn. The classes here are not terribly difficult, but it definitely requiers dedication and time. You have to want to get good grades. You can't come here and expect to sleep through class and still get the A. The standards are high. I would also suggest that you don't compare yourself to other students. As I mentioned, the standards at BYU are high. Almost everyone who attends this college was in the top percentile of their high school. Everyone here is smart. So if you come in thinking you are the best of the best, you might suffer a reality check. Just go with the flow, and do your best.
Great for these types of students This University is wonderful for the student who loves to learn and who is dedicated to their education. This is definitely NOT a party school, and it is not the place for students who want to squeeze by and do the bare minimum to get their degree. Students who want to attend BYU should be serious about college, and prepared to put a lot of time and effort into it. Not all the classes are difficult, some are very easy, but many take a LOT of time. Students should be prepared to come and learn, and they should love it :)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot At BYU our professors are involved in what they teach. Teaching well is considered honorable, and like other universities, our professors are required to add to the body of knowledge in their expertise.
Am enjoying being here There is a saying here: good grades, sleep, and a social life. Pick two. There's always something to do or some where to be. Provo definitely sleeps, but you'll never be sitting in your apartment on a Friday night thinking to yourself, If only I had something to do right now. It just doesn't happen - and if it did happen it would be because of your own choices.
Bang for the buck BYU is subsidized very heavily by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It's hard to find a better deal any where.
Tips for prospective students Visit the school and talk to people you know who go there. When you get to BYU, find something you love to do -- and do it. There are so many ways to be involved and so many different people here. You really won't get the full experience if you don't DO something. Like the sign says, Enter to learn; go forth to serve.
Great for these types of students If you're dedicated, faithful, and enjoy living a full and well-rounded life, you'll be happy at BYU. Don't think you're going for a cake walk, and don't go just for the social aspects. You can get a world class education here -- but only if you put in a world class effort.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Because of the nature of this school, just about every program is valuable and excellent. My professors each have unique teaching styles, but all encourage personal study and learning to help you make the most out of lectures. Although keeping up can be challenging, (as I imagine it is for all freshmen everywhere), I definitely find myself soaking up the learning opportunities here.
Am enjoying being here Now that I am here, I could not imagine myself at any other school. I've heard several other students say the same thing. The Honor Code is really a protection and allows for exponential academic, spiritual, and mental growth. But that's not all; a person could easily major in all of the social events and clubs here on campus. There are so many things to do, and ways to serve.
Also, I'm pretty sure that BYU should be ranked number one in the nation for most attractive people. Seriously, both the women and the men here are just plain beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen so many beautiful people in my life.
So anyway, if you have the opportunity to go to BYU, GO! It will change your life. If you're looking for anything other than alcohol, sex, and drugs, then this is the best place to find it. (Added bonus: Your roommate won't be coming home drunk or bringing in a significant other for a lovely night of awkwardness)Bang for the buck Tuition here is mega cheap! At only $2280 per semester for LDS students, and $4560 per semester for non-LDS students, you won't find tuition so cheap at a private college, especially if you're out of state. And, if you're a great student, you might likely get a half-tuition or full-tuition scholarship.
Living on-campus is a little pricey compared to the cheapness of tuition, but it's definitely more than worth it! The meal plans are also excellent, and the food at the Canon center is delicious!Tips for prospective students If you are unsure about whether you want to go to BYU, try and visit the campus and attend a forum or devotional. If you're still young enough, see if you can attend EFY here.
Also, don't think that the Utah Mormon bubble will have a huge effect on most things. BYU encourages more out-of-state students to attend than in-state, so the majority of LDS students you're dealing with were one of a handful of Mormons at their High School. Not to mention, it's kind of hard to get in (so keep those grades up!) so most of the students are rather intelligent as well.Great for these types of students Great for LDS students, Christian students, or students who don't want to have to deal with the typical college party scene. Also great for students who are serious about their studies, and want to get the most out of their education. If you still are wondering about this whole LDS nonsense, visit http://www.mormon.org to find out more. It really isn't so bad chilling with a bunch of us.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers are very knowledgeable and excited about their subjects. Most teachers do research in their fields and therefore have real life examples of what they are teaching. There are classes on so many different topics. Like anything, you'll get out of it what you put into it. Also, because of the honor code you can focus on your studies without being distracted by roommates drinking or messing around.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere is great. There is a lot of good, clean fun. There are so many activities for students to do with the school, clubs, ward, and housing complexes. For outdoor enthusiasts like myself it is great because campus is so close to the mountains.
Bang for the buck You get a very unique education at a fairly decent price. The university offers many scholarships as well that makes it even more affordable.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! There are so many opportunities, don't let them pass you by. Meet people and network. Talk to your teachers. They want to help you, so don't be afraid to ask for it.
Great for these types of students If you have strong Christian values and wanted to avoid the crazy party scene, then this is the place. There is a good balance of education and clean fun. Also, you should be a hard worker. BYU has a very high academic level, so it can be challenging, but it is very worth it.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot From what I've heard, the classes at BYU are really challenging, but sooo educational. The environment is amazing and really fosters excellent learning experiences.
Will enjoy being here I know BYU is freaking amazing, and I haven't even been there yet! There are just so many opportunities and awesome things going on every week! The people are so friendly and all around amazing, the campus is gorgeous, the study abroad programs are to die for, the performance groups are pretty much the most extraordinary thing I have ever seen, AND there are sign ups going around for Dumbledore's Army and the bell tower plays Hedwig's Theme. It doesn't get better than that!
Bang for the buck BYU, comparatively, is really inexpensive! For such a great education, there is not a better deal out there!
Tips for prospective students Well... I am a prospective student soooo... Not sure I should give tips. BUT, I do know this. Do not fall behind and always always always be prepared. Going in without any previous knowledge or a determination to do well will get you no where fast.
Great for these types of students Students who are hard working and want to be in an environment that is tailored to getting the best education possible.

Bang for the buck At less than $5,000 a year for tuition, with top-of-the-line facilities and a wide array of classes, this college is definitely worth it!
Tips for prospective students Be yourself and study hard. You'll find BYU has a lot of people there for reasons just like you!

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Based on the online student and staff reviews of my professors and classes, I anticipate learning a great deal while at BYU. I am especially excited to be able to select from a wide variety of classes to fit my own personal learning interests. Also, BYU's Harold B. Lee library is an amazing place to study (the best corner of the library is reserved for Freshmen only) with all sorts of resources and study pockets. In fact, it was rated in 2010 as the 3rd best college library in the USA.
Will enjoy being here Absolutely. There are so many opportunities go out and have fun on campus (movies, shows, games, dances, eat outs, concerts, socials, etc. all VERY affordable for a dirt poor college student) that you have to be very disciplined to avoid getting distracted from your studies.
Bang for the buck For being such a prestigious and academically challenging school, BYU is jaw-droppingly (that is a word now) affordable school, with total expenses between 10-17 thousand dollars for a whole year, depending on your housing, whether you're LDS or not, and on whether or not you cook for yourself. For me, an LDS student cooking for himself and living on campus, I expect my expenses to be around 10 1/2 thousand dollars (including supplies, tuition, and living expenses). Very affordable.
Tips for prospective students Work hard, and familiarize yourself with BYU's acceptance criteria. The average accepted BYU student has a 3.8 GPA and a 27 ACT (1860 SAT equivalent). That is a pretty tall order, but with some hard work and discipline its very attainable. The deal is, there are so many students who want to attend BYU (which was rated the #1 most popular US University in 2010) that BYU simply can't accommodate them all, so its extremely competitive admission. If you can get a 3.75 GPA, and a 26 or 27 ACT (or SAT equivalent) supplemented by an impressive list of extracurricular activities and leadership positions, this will almost guarantee you admission (NOT scholarships, just admission although you really won't need much scholarship money to pay for BYU). If you do get in, congratulate yourself because when they say in your acceptance letter that you've joined a select group of students they really mean it. *Note: Also, if you can play basketball like Jimmer Fredette, that could get you into BYU pretty quickly as well.
Great for these types of students BYU students are TYPICALLY very disciplined, hardworking, and preppy. They manage their time and schedules very well, using all their energy to work and study super hard, and then party even harder (in a clean LDS standard kind of way). There is an Honor Code all students are required to live by which includes abstaining from liquor, tobacco, drugs, law-breaking, and sexual immorality of any degree or sort, but this code doesn't in any way inhibit BYU student's abilities to have fun. Most students are known for being extremely enthusiastic and fun-loving (believe me, if you can't imagine what kind of fun they could possibly have just come for a week and you'll find out very quickly), but equally hard-working. Graduate schools and big businesses are aware of BYU's reputation for producing great students and workers, so if you come here you'd better be ready to live up to that. However, the student body is really large enough that you'll find a large group of any personality type.

Will enjoy being here BYU holds their students to high standards. Students are expected to follow all the rules, and there are consequences for not. This allows students a great learning environment and the opportunity to improve themselves.
Bang for the buck I think that for the experiences you will gain by attending BYU it is well worth the price. There are also several student housing options to fit every budget!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Although it doesn't come easy, the knowledge I gained from my first year at Brigham Young University is incredible. All through high school I studied really hard and thought that I knew a lot, but once I got to BYU I was introduced to a whole new world of learning. As in all things, the amount of learning comes from each individual. You have to listen carefully to each lecture, you have to read the textbooks and other class materials, you are responsible to ask questions. I have learned that if you show the teacher you are interested in learning, then they will take the time to help you.
Am enjoying being here The environment on Brigham Young University's campus is enjoyable for everyone. I am a quiet person, yet I have managed to meet so many new friends because of the freshman mentoring program and the other various events that go on around campus each week. There are several activities to attend during each semester, but you have to make an effort to go to them in order to enjoy this school like I have. College is a lot bigger than high school, and therefore it's harder for people to communicate activities, but if you read the newspaper and look at the fliers, you will have a memorable experience at BYU just like I did.
Bang for the buck It's always hard to pay a lot of money to attend any type of school. Although tuition can be expensive, I would highly recommend choosing BYU over any other college. When I paid tuition last year, I didn't feel like it was a waste at all. In fact I was very satisfied with the knowledge that I learned and the small amount of money I paid. I also felt good to know that my tuition money is helping to keep this campus beautiful and I wouldn't have it any other way. Try to able for as many scholarships as you can while at BYU, any amount of money will help!
Tips for prospective students Get involved!! I loved high school because I was always going to the sporting events, or the choir and dance concerts. As mentioned earlier, it's harder to know about all of the things going on in college, but when you do hear about something, make an effort to get yourself there. Also take advantage of the library, my first semester I felt like I was too cool for the library and therefor never stepped foot in it. By the time second semester came around, I realized that the library became a second home to me. My study habits improved 100%.
Great for these types of students As any school is, Brigham Young University is what you make of it. I have had friends come here who I have thought would do well in this kind of environment and yet within weeks they are at another school. I also know people who say they never thought about BYU as a young teenager and only came to make their parents happy, yet they love it. If you make it a great college, then you'll enjoy the school 10 times better than those who have a bad attitude about it.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot BYU classes are challenging. There is no doubt about that. You WILL struggle to pass your GE's. But you do learn a lot. You'll come out of your GE's knowing way more about physics and government than you ever wanted to. Or maybe you did want to. I don't know.
Am enjoying being here BYU is fun. It's a crazy, weird, unique brand of fun. It's a completely dry campus, where the students don't even want to drink, so we find our fun in late night ice cream trips and Latin dancing. LOTS of Latin dancing.
Bang for the buck It's one of the cheapest private universities you can go to. Just around $2200 a semester? Not bad.
Tips for prospective students Join a club. Get involved on campus. It seems cliche, but it'll help you find your place in the overwhelmingly huge student body. Plus, it will look really good on job applications, and grad school applications, if you need it.
Great for these types of students Great for students who want to party, without the alcohol and drugs. Also good for students willing to work hard, because you will have to.

Bang for the buck I'm really hoping on scholarships from both BYU and other places to get me mostly through college and i know that the money i get from them and any money my parents or i will put forward will be completely worth it!

Bang for the buck This is such a life-saver!! Money is a bit of challenge for me and my family but with the reduced cost of the college year plus the extra scholarships are really helping out with paying for college. It's a really cheap school for everyone who wants to attend.
Tips for prospective students I am a prospective student right now so any tips are greatly appreciated!!

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I am so excited for all I will be learning at BYU. I have talked with both my parents about their experiences there and the one thing that my dad always brings up is how amazing it is to start a science class or a math class with prayer. I know that because this is an institution of the Lord that my learning experience will be much better here than it could be anywhere else! I cannot wait to learn everything I possibly can!!
Will enjoy being here I love the campus! It has one of the greatest feelings I have ever found on a campus! The people are always so nice and helpful, it's a clean environment, and there is so much to do. It is very easy to navigate and very user friendly. I just love being in Provo!
Bang for the buck BYU is one of the cheapest 4 year universities out there. Granted it is not THE cheapest, but thanks to the church contribution the tuition is one of the lowest around. Housing is a little bit pricey, but it's worth it. I would just advise to start saving now, because you're gonna need that money sooner than you think you will. Overall it is an inexpensive university.
Tips for prospective students I would say take a campus visit! Once you've been there you will not want to leave. And don't be afraid to start applying for scholarships now. It's never too early to start saving for college.
Great for these types of students BYU is great for people who love the gospel of the Lord, enjoy being around wholesome people, don't mind an active dating life, and are looking for a great learning experience!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Wow, I felt like I grew intellectually, spiritually, and in maturity my first semester. I took American Heritage and Writing & Rhetoric. These classes really challenged me to work hard and study. Thankfully they have resources that we can go to on our spare time so that we can understand the subject better and have help in our assignments. Writing a persuasive paper in writing and rhetoric was challenging and they have a resource center that a counselor will review with your paper and help you pinpoint what you can work on, how you personally can improve on the assignment. Physical Sciences put the PowerPoints they showed us in class online so that we can study them on our own if we missed anything in class. The truly do all they can to aid in you learning experience.
Am enjoying being here My freshman year here at Brigham Young University was the most enjoyable time I had in my life! What adds to this great statement is that it was good clean fun. There was no drinking, no drugs, smoking, and nothing provocative Most people think that's what you need to have fun. They have a lot of activities for freshman to help them meet new people. I love to go to the dances on campus.
Bang for the buck This is definitely worth the money. Great value of education for what you pay. Tuition/housing/books for this next year (Fall 2011- Winter 2012) will be from 8,000 to 9,000 and that not bad. That actually something I could afford with a partial scholarship and working full-time over the summer. I'm not expecting my parents to pay any of this!
Tips for prospective students Be prepared for the religious aspects of this school. Pray usually starts each class period. Take the religious classes with Randy L. Bott. It is legendary. You will transition from high school to college easily if you enroll in Freshman Academy. That helped me. They even reserve housing for you because it so hard to find housing sometimes. Make sure you have a GPA around 3.7 and at least a 27 ACT score to get in.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who want a moral environment. It is great for those who believe that God cares about there education and can help them succeed. Great School for those who love Accounting and Business. For those young men who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who plan on being a missionary for a period of 2 years, this is a great school that easily will defer enrollment and scholarships for that 2 year period. For those who are members of that church and pay tithing its cheaper tuition, instead of out of state/in state costs.

Bang for the buck The tuition is so cheap! Even if you aren't a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the tuition is way less expensive than other colleges.
Tips for prospective students Keep your GPA up, go to seminary, be really involved in extracurricular activities, and study really hard for your ACT tests. If your scores are high enough, you can get a nice scholarship!
Great for these types of students This college is great for driven, positive, and hard working students who have a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Am enjoying being here I love it here. The whole place is beautiful and the people are all so kind and friendly. The mountains near by provide great beauty and entertainment with all the activities you get to do up there. I will miss this place if I have to leave.
Bang for the buck The quality education here that you get for this price, is incredible. I cannot express how much I feel that this is the best choice for me, and hope that my sister, Rebekah (Thanks for letting me use your profile by the way) can understand why I left home to come here. I know that this is not only the best place for me, but also my wallet.
Tips for prospective students Service and volunteer work. The people are so kind here, they like seeing a good long list of things you have done for others! Keep your grades up, and serve as much as you can.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot BYU offers very good education. However, I haven't felt challenged to my fullest potential yet, despite taking honors classes. I expect to reach that point when I enroll in higher level classes (I'm writing this as I'm about to become a Junior). Classes and workloads are definitely manageable, and professors know their stuff and often incorporate ways besides lectures to teach. There are so many things to learn here, and BYU does a great job of teaching them.
Am enjoying being here People here are so friendly, I'm learning new things, professors will go out of their way to talk with you if you show interest, and campus life is great. There are so many opportunities to take advantage of, such as study abroads offered by the university, and fun activities to be a part of, such as dances and concerts that are regularly offered.
Bang for the buck This is a ridiculously cheap school because the LDS church subsidizes much of the tuition costs. You get an incredibly high-quality education for a very low price. I know very few people who attend this school who have to resort to student loans because it is so affordable. Despite the low costs, BYU is one of the best schools in the nation according to many of the most-trusted raters. In many cases, it's an Ivy League education for a community college cost.
Tips for prospective students Be outgoing! Everyone here is willing to be your friend. This is one of the most social campuses I have ever seen. If you catch anyone's eye, they'll smile at you warmly and you'll know you belong.
Be proactive. I went through high school having everything spoon-fed to me. Clubs would approach me to join and teachers would let me know of good opportunities to branch out. In college, you'll have to be a lot more self-reliant. Visit the volunteering office to get involved, or check out the info boards placed all around campus to get the most of your college experience.Great for these types of students Students who aren't looking to party too hard. Students aren't supposed to use drugs or alcohol. This is the one of the most sober campuses in America and focuses more on having fun without using substances.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are interesting and the teachers usually try to make the class fun, or at least enjoyable. you have to really study. Take advantage of the study rooms and go to reviews if the teacher offers them. Form study groups and pay attention to what your Freshman Mentor tells you. Though many of your friends might not like freshman mentoring, the mentors can give you, or find for you information to make your experience at BYU less confusing than if you were on your own.
Am enjoying being here Most people seem to enjoy it here. If your not from Utah, it make take some time to get use to the 100% Mormon atmosphere. If you are having trouble fitting in or getting use to your classes, go and check out the Counseling and Career Center. This place is fantastic and so are the people. There are many things to go to in campus. Check out the clubs and the international cinema (it's free). Education in Zion in the JFSB is a fun place to learn about BYU and how it came to be. There are free concerts and cheap shows that are pretty easy to afford. Have fun and don't let stress get to you.
Bang for the buck Tuition if pretty cheap compared to other places and is cheaper than other state's in-state school tuition. If you want to save money, a good thing to do is rent an apartment with some roommates. if not freshman year, definitely sophomore. Housing on campus is expensive. Try to buy things off campus, b/c everything is pretty overpriced. If you are in the dorms, like Helaman Halls, do the Dining Plus meal plan. You have a more variety to choose from w/ more money and you can buy better food.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you REALLY want to come. Have a reason besides cheap tuition. I think you'll have a better experience if you really want to take advantage of the opportunities BYU can give you. Also, if you need something done, do it yourself. Walk into the office and talk to the person or make an appointment. Emailing isn't very effective, campus isn't far, just go and peruse, if you can't call. There are hills to get to main campus, so...good luck.
Great for these types of students Hope you love the cold, because it gets icy and windy, so dress warmly or you'll get sick. if you want to be in an environment where you feel the spirit, come here. The religion classes are great and the testing center is pretty relaxing.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I know several people that attended BYU and, from what I've seen, their programs are extremely helpful in all fields of study. My sister that attended BYU became a math teacher and her students learned alot.
Will enjoy being here I've seen all the activities there and I'm looking forward to it. I've attended their public events, such as Young Ambassador concerts, Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band concerts, and all of their sports games. I am soooooooo excited!
Bang for the buck I've seen the prices for many schools and BYU has one of the lowest per-semester tuition costs. Thanks to this, I won't need as much money and won't have to worry about scholarships as much. Plus, I hear that their financial aid office is extremely helpful.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I have read from fellow reviewers that the Education here is Great!
you will learn from not only your Professors ,but your peers as well. Will enjoy being here I have never been to Utah yet (Going within the next few months)
but, I have seen pictures and it is So beautiful, I have heard that the campus is so stunning and i can only imagine how the Temple looks! Their is so many things to do their and the seasons are great!Bang for the buck If your LDS (Latter Day Saint), then the tuition is less expensive, but if your a non-member then for a Private College it still is good.
Tips for prospective students Go Check It Out.
It's Great.Great for these types of students LDS Church Members and Everyone who understands and will live by (While at BYU) the Honor code. :)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I've heard BYU referred to as the Harvard of the West. True to this phrase, BYU is an intensive university that requires a lot of its students. There is a wide range of classes available, I have a hard time choosing which classes to take each semester! I learn a lot in my classes because I choose to apply myself and learn.
Am enjoying being here Sometimes I feel that BYU is a small town where everyone knows everyone else and everything about every aspect of their lives. Gossip spreads quickly, and though I have never been a victim of this kind of gossip, I find it hard to be in an environment like this for extended periods of time.
Bang for the buck BYU is a relatively inexpensive university, there is no out of state tuition!
Tips for prospective students Work hard!
Great for these types of students Latter-day Saints, anyone interested in going into Accounting, Business, Law, or Animation.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are intellectually challenging but worth it! They're fun and the professors are fantastic. Many of the classes, especially the large/difficult classes have what are called TA's (teacher's assistants) who are a heap of help! The professors are more than willing to work the the students and often work one-on-one. They're very helpful and I've learned so much. Definitely worth getting an education here!
Am enjoying being here There are so many things to do! I myself love dancing and have participated in many of BYU's Ballroom Dance activities they provide. I've taken classes, gone to the clubs, and participated in mock and national competitions. Some of my best memories come from these activities, but there are so many more offered that will fit any person. Visit BYU's club site and you can search their various clubs. Not all activities are listed there. Once you arrive and start meeting new people you'll find many more activities.
Bang for the buck BYU is an extremely prestigious college for a really great price. Even if you're not LDS the tuition is still extremely affordable. Look at what Harvard, Stanford or Yale charge in tuition and you'll realize just how fantastically affordable BYU really is!
Tips for prospective students Take a look around! Don't be shy to talk to your professors and TA's. BYU is a fairly localized campus and though it is big you don't have to worry about traveling too far to get from one class to the next. Also, don't forget, college isn't just about academic work. You have to go out and do some activities to stay sane. BYU has just about any activity you can think of. Have some fun!
Great for these types of students If you're looking for a friendly environment with high moral standards this is the best place to go. Some may thing the Honor Code is too hard to keep but I guarantee you won't be sorry if you keep to it and not just for college. You learn some life long lessons. If you want to learn and get a great education this is the place to go.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot I loved BYU, and the high standards. It's been many years since I graduated.
Did enjoy being here Great cultural events, church student wards.
Bang for the buck I had fun. I enjoyed living off campus rather than in the dorms (I did both), because if I wanted the social life I could find it, but living off campus, it was less likely to find me if I wanted to study. NOT a party school, in the the typical sense of the words. Plenty of parties with no subtance abuse or immorality.
Tips for prospective students Honor the Honor Code.
Great for these types of students Non-smoking, non-drinking, high moral standard students who sincerely want to learn.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot BYU has some of the best teachers in the country, just check Rate My Professors! These professors love and live what they teach, which makes your learning even easier! I've never had a teach that's been unwilling to help your learning in any way.
Am enjoying being here Everyone here is super friendly - you'll have tons of friends in no time! BYU has tons of free and cheap events all the time, and plus there's tons of great outdoor activities to do year around! Don't worry about being bored with school work!
Bang for the buck Tuition is definitely on the low end here, and for one of the most popular and praised universities in the country!
Great for these types of students People with strong values, and everyone else!

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Judging by what I have observed of BYU, I am confident that I will learn a lot there. The teachers truly care about the students and are serious about providing their pupils with a quality education. Last summer, I attended the BYU Summerfest and found BYU to be a place where teachers know what they are talking about and students are serious about higher education.
Will enjoy being here Entering any college as a freshman is intimidating, other than that, BYU is a great place to be. I loved visiting the campus because almost everyone is very kind and always willing to include people. Also, because extracurricular activities are so abundant at BYU, new Freshmen can feel like they have an instant group of friends.
Bang for the buck BYU's tuition is cheaper than other schools, especially for members of the LDS Church because our families pay regular tithing to the church. Personally, I think the tuition is great for the education you will get at BYU. Many prestigious Universities ask for much more tuition money than BYU does, yet you can get the same education offered at any other top-rated University at good 'ol BYU.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus, live in the dorms, keep up your grades, and raise your test scores whenever possible. Also, it might be a good idea to read up on LDS scripture if you are not a member. The religious experience at BYU is a significant aspect of the university's culture, and if you don't know about the church, you might miss out on some great opportunities for spiritual growth.
Great for these types of students Anyone who wants to learn in a positive environment.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot BYU seems to have so many wonderful opprotunities and so many different and interesting classes.
Will enjoy being here I loved visiting Utah and BYU. The environment is so uplifting.
Bang for the buck BYU was one of the least expensive of my list of colleges and really seems to give me what I want (which is a way to prepare for medical school).
Tips for prospective students Work hard during high school because it is kind of hard to get in and even harder to get scholarships.
Great for these types of students Work hard and are looking for a great and spiritual college environment.
