Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am about to start my sophmore year in fall 2009 and cannot wait. My freshman year was amazing. I learned many things in class that I used outside of class. Professors take the time to answer questions students may have, and make convenient office hours for us. I know this school has a lot to offer to present and future students.
Am enjoying being here I really enjoy driving up University Pkwy and seeing CSUSB lively, welcoming and energetic. The people you meet here are incredible, from staff to student, everyone cherishes this school as if it was they're second home.
Bang for the buck Tuition is very convenient for all types of income. I come from a low income family, but with my good grades and community involvement, Financial Aide covers my costs. CSUSB is worth every penny.
Tips for prospective students 1. Sit in the T zone of the class; meaning either the two front rows or the middle column of the class. 2. Always ask questions, its better to do something u know is right, than to not know what your doing. 3. Visit professors during office hours so they know you are interested in the class subject. 4. Always make time to leisure and relax. Best place is the Student Union there are always events to attend. 5. CSUSB is the best choice you'll make.
COME HERE, GO ANYWHERE!Great for these types of students CSUSB is a very diverse campus so there is no specific student with a certain eduction level, race/ethnicity, income. Anyone who is willing to work hard, educate themselves, open minded, and have a goal is welcomed at CSUSB.

Am enjoying being here Made many friends while I dormed here, plus you meet many people from diffrent backgrounds. Much of the campus is calm and quiet.
Bang for the buck Doming is chep and it is very low on cost compare to other cal states.
Tips for prospective students Be open minded on what other think and also be aware of the difrent view points people have.
Great for these types of students Anyone who is willing to learn and exited about a new start.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All of the teachers that I've had have been very supportive and willing to spend time with each and everyone of their students! It helps alot with the quarter system because it goes by so fast!!
Am enjoying being here The campus is very beautiful with a nice view of the mountains! The classes are not over crowded and there is space for one on one contact with the professors. The campus is not huge but a good size and it's easy to find places so you won't be lost when starting there. I've met many friends from different backgrounds some even from different places around the world! It's an extraordinary experience!

Will enjoy being here The social life i hear isnt so hot but classes there should earn you sum friends.
Bang for the buck It's particularly cheap compared to other cal states and the small classes with acutal interaction with the profesors is a great plus.
Tips for prospective students Be a well rounded student!
Great for these types of students ONE-ON-ONE with professors, Great education. Especially if you want to major in EDUCATION, NURSINF,AND PSYCHOLOGY.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences san bernardino is a great campus filled with caring staff and teachers. we have great majors that have won awards, like our business program for example. also, our beautiful campus provides us with many opportunities to lie out on the grass and study or have a picnic with friends.
Tips for prospective students use ratemyprofessor.com before you chose your classes so you can get a heads up on how the class is structured and what other students felt about the professor after the quarter. i have used this website for 3 years and it has helped me countless times. also, procrastination is a big issue when you’re in college, especially since san bernardino is quarters not semesters. so in order to stay on top of your assignments and tests, make sure you either have a calendar or schedule book, so you can make sure you have not missed any due dates.
Academic Rigor some courses are, of course, more rigorous than others especially if you are going into science. however, what is great about san bernardino is that all professors teach and if they have an assistant, they will usually just pass back assignments or help the professor grade assignments/papers. also, teachers have office hours so if you are ever stuck or lost about something you saw/heard in lecture, you can go in and ask them about it.
Dorm Life i have lived in the dorms for three years and it has been a great experience so far. my freshman year was the best since you are surrounded by people your same age (and sometimes older) who are just as nervous as you are. all our housing staff is very friendly and the resident assistants plan great events for their residents. every year, welcome week has great events that range from a bbq to karaoke. housing even gives academic awards to residents who have a 3.0 and above.
Food and Dining i love the food at san bernardino. we have a very good cooking staff in the commons and they make both healthy and delicious food daily. they are now selling food on the weekends which is very nice if you do not know how to cook and want to eat a healthy and delicious meal. also, we do have a starbucks, taco bell, denny’s express etc. if you like fast food, and need caffeine after a long night of studying.
What to do for fun we have many different clubs, organizations on campus and in the student union there are centers that offer fun and interesting events during the year. for instance, the lgbt center has a yearly drag queen event that has receives rave reviews every year. also, famous comedians and musicians come to our school to perform. for example, anjelah johnson and many more have come to our school; and as students, we get discounted tickets to see their shows.
Clubs and Activities we have a lot of clubs, ranging from your major's club to clubs that are more hobby based like the anime club. the student union has many great events and they put up various posters and flyers advertising those events.
Campus Safety we have a very dedicated police force on campus and they patrol from morning to night. also, we have many blue phones around campus in case something happens to you and when you press the button, a police officer will come quickly to help you out. however, i feel safe walking around on campus and have never worried about being hurt or robbed.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences california state university san bernardino is a great school with an extraordinary staff. offers rigorous courses to help pursue the career in which you desire. overall, i am glad i chose csusb.
Tips for prospective students make sure to apply for several scholarships. for myself as an out-of-state student tuition is extremely high. i wish i would have had the luck of receiving scholarships to help with the outrageous tuition rate.
Academic Rigor california state university san bernardino has rigorous courses to help students understand and observe the major he/she has selected. teachers are more than happy to help students understand the class better.
Dorm Life living on campus is a plus. its is great environment to study and enjoy the outdoors. living on campus is great, you're never late to class, and get the real experience of college life. although it is costly.
Food and Dining food and dining are good, not the best or cheapest. its best to cook for yourself
What to do for fun csusb hosts several activities to keep up with social life and keep you interested and at ease during final exams. the campus as a recreational center with class and a large quantity of equipment to keep fit, along with this the campus offers greek life.
Bang for the buck overall, before entering college it is obvious you are investing a great deal of money, be prepared .
Greek Life greek life is offered on campus, and is a great way to be involved, and meet knew people
Campus Safety campus is safe, and peacefull.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This is my second year in Cal State San Bernardino and I love it here. The teachers are good enough to care about your education and are available when you need them. They always give you their office hours which lets me know that they welcome us whenever we may have questions.
We have a quarter system here in San Bernardino that makes the year go by really quick. Although we are cramming all the information in a ten week period, the teachers makes sure we have anything we need to pass the course.
I love the quarter system because it makes the year go by faster but I do not like that we are on a strict schedule. I love most of the teachers I've had but of course not all universities are perfect there are some that slip.Am enjoying being here There is friendly people everywhere! You can make friends by making conversations with the people who sit around you in class. Everyone in class is young and is living the college experience, everyone wants friends. So you must not be shy because theres always people to meet in Cal State San Bernardino.
CSUSB also has great activities every week. From music or drama performances, to political activities. There are clubs and organizations involving volunteer work and always meeting new people! Although there are not many things to do outside school, meeting all those people in activities has the potential of always having something to do with someone.
San Bernardino is also located not so far from awesome attractions like Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flags, Universal Studios, Disneyland, and even Big Bear, where you can go snowboarding and skiing in the winter. The weather in San Bernardino is really great as well it is warm in the summer and spring but it gets very windy sometimes. So windy that there has been occasions where they must close the school for the day(s).Bang for the buck Going to CSUSB is not as expensive as other CSU's and it is a great environment to experience. The campus is small, but really beautiful and green. You can see the mountains in the background and in the winter you can see the mountains with snow. The people are friendly and active and the teachers really care about my education. I am from San Diego, so I came two hours away to a new place to meet new people and start somewhere new; and so far it has been one of my best experiences yet.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Staff at CSUSB have all completely exceeded my expectations. Many of the staff and teachers here are completely passionate about their subject, and it shows. Every staff member I have met is completely willing to lend you a hand during their office hours, so if you ever get lost will free to ask them. Many staff members will also find ways to help you to improve your grade if you are struggling, just don't be afraid to ask! I have personally learned a lot in just one year and can't wait to continue!
Am enjoying being here I really enjoy it here, and it is another part of this school that has exceeded my expectations. You have plenty of activities and clubs to choose from depending on your major or interest. Many of the members in these clubs are very friendly and make for some good study buddies! Also, most of the other students are really friendly and sociable. I have made plenty of new, and great friends because everyone is willing to help and talk!
Bang for the buck The school is very affordable, substantially so when compared to the UC system and private college. Though like many of the California Universities, tuition costs are currently on the rise and it is definitely putting more of a strain on your budget. Books are also pretty expensive, however, this would apply to just about any college. You still get a great education for an affordable price!
Tips for prospective students All I can say is, don't underestimate this school. To be honestly, I did, I thought I was going to dislike this school, but after the first quarter I absolutely loved it! The staff is passionate, the students are friendly and the cost is affordable!
Great for these types of students Just about anyone to be honest. This campus is very accepting to people of many various backgrounds. Everyone is respectful to each other and minds their own private space. There's also many places on campus that offer services for people of many ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations. So feel right at home!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot College teaches you things you will actually use. Each lesson is applicable to your life and each quarter you get more and more to grow on and feed off of as you live your first years in adult life. CSUSB will teach you the things that high school never could; and yes, it's true... you do learn something new every day.
Am enjoying being here I was so afraid to start college because I thought I wouldn't fit in, but this campus and the people that thrive here are entirely accepting of all kinds of people and backgrounds.
Bang for the buck I didn't get all the financial aid that I thought I would, but CSUSB still offers plenty of financial aid for those in need.
Tips for prospective students Apply for classes early! Take your registration time seriously.
Great for these types of students all students would thrive at CSUSB. we have a great theatre department, sporting facilities, and amazing course in just about every field of study you could imagine.

Tips for prospective students get a map. use the free tutoring, and writing center, they truly are such a big help.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences it's a great school with outstanding professors. it's quiet and peaceful which allows students to study and do homework. also it provides students with helpful sources to succeed in college and outside college, such as job postings and career building tips.
Tips for prospective students csusb is a great school for first time freshmen or transfer students because they guide you through the entire process and explain every single step you need to take to succeed. i transfer to csusb from a community college and i was never confused on what to do because there is always someone willing to hep you with any question you have.
Academic Rigor professors are well qualified and their teachings are outstanding. if you feel like you do not understand the subject, you can always go to office hours where you can interact with professors face-to-face and they try their best to help you understand it.
Dorm Life i do not dorm
Food and Dining not that many different options to choose from
What to do for fun there is many things you can choose from, such as joining school clubs. they also provide live performance or even video game tournaments. also there is always people some sort of activities.
Campus Safety very safe. police officers throughout the entire campus at all times. if you feel threatened, you can call the security office and have an escort take you to your car. phones are located everywhere in campus

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Attending this university is probably one of the best experiences I've ever had. The professors are eager to learn new things, as are the students. The professors have many projects that they're working on that the students can join if they qualify for the position.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors and you will go far. One of my professors and four other students have been working on a game for almost a year now and we are almost finished with it. This project was started because we talked to the professor about our ideas for a game.
Academic Rigor During most of my terms so far, I'm at school all day working on certain difficult classes. Although this is the case a lot of the time, I still have time to work on my side project.
Dorm Life The students here are nice and the dorms are comfortable.
Food and Dining I eat at the school all the time and they make sure that they have food to satisfy anyone's needs. They have many restaurants in the student union that is always crowded.
What to do for fun Go into the student union to play video games, watch television, or even play pool. There is a lot to do here and you can find out what school events are coming up soon.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences California State University of San Bernardino was an excellent choice for me. I went there for 5 years and even got to explore another campus while still being a CSUSB student with their National Student Exchange program. The professors there are professional, insightful, and fun, and the classwork is easy to understand and complete.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend having a plan as soon as you know what your major will be. It will not only save you a BUNCH of time, but will help you to get in to your classes easily once your registration date is set and not have to be put on a wait-list. I would also recommend that prospective students buy a laptop because more and more students these days are taking notes in class on their ipads and laptops and it's easy to save, share or print out for future reference in class.
Academic Rigor The Professors at CSUSB are very knowledgeable in their fields. With up-to-date lessons and tools that provide you with extra help, it's almost as if your work is being done for you. Students are provided with a syllabus, course curriculum and schedule in each class, and many professors offer lecture notes online as well. This is essential so the students can always come prepared for class and are able to see which assignments are due next.
Dorm Life I lived in the University Village apartments for a year. It was incredible living right across the street from campus and never missing or being late for a class. All of my neighbors became great friends and we had a blast hanging out with each other on or off campus. The resources there are incredible (free computer lab, wireless internet, pool, gym, etc.) and the remarkable experiences you gain are totally worth the price.
Food and Dining CSUSB has sooooo many restaurants on campus- it's incredible! From Denny's to Starbucks and Taco Bell, and even a Commons cafeteria where they make large yummy homemade meals and desserts- why would any student want to eat anywhere else??
What to do for fun Although joining clubs and sororities/fraternities are fun, they may be a little cliche.... I HIGHLY recommend their free or low-cost outdoor fitness and recreational activities as well as the Student Union activities. I have had SO MUCH FUN going to all of these creative activities including free Thanksgiving dinners, canoeing and hiking events, salsa dance lessons, art galleries, etc. etc. etc.!!!
Bang for the buck California State University of San Bernardino is a little expensive but it is an education WORTH paying for. Also, nearly everyone I know there receives scholarships and grants to pay for most if not all of it. Make sure you fill out the CSUSB scholarship application because I've heard they're very liberal in awarding scholarships. I recommend renting books if tuition costs are a little much for you. They also have great book buyback programs as well.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's this one circle of trees that I always hear about on campus behind some of the buildings.... I hear it's a great place to hang out. Also, there is an LDS Church building across from Jack Brown Hall that provides Bible Studies, Institute classes, free lunches and TONS of fun games (including card and board games, ping pong, water baseball, ultimate frisbee, nerf gun obstacle courses etc.), activities, meals and a free quiet study place (I take naps there all the time) for anyone, not just Mormons. ;)
Great for these types of students EVERYONE.
Campus Safety In all honesty, there were a couple small incidents on campus last year but the good thing about CSUSB is that they not only send alerts to our cellphones and emails, they also provide 24/7 on-campus escorts, free taxi service home to those who are drunk (I've heard), and emergency call boxes all around the campus, even in parking lots to ensure students' safety. Also, if it gets REALLY WINDY on campus, they shut down the school for a day or two. HELLO WEEKEND!!!!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSUSB is a great commuter school. However you do not get a feel of the real college life unless you live on campus. Overall I would give it a 7.
Tips for prospective students Incoming freshman should sign the 4 year contract in order to get priority registration. Classes are becoming extremely impacted so find ways to get priority.
Academic Rigor Your general classes are fairly easy if you just do the work. Pay attention to the syllabus that your teachers will hand out, and you will get a good feel of the class.
Food and Dining They have plenty of variety but not when it comes to being healthy.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I enjoy the Art Program here, the facilities are fabulous and the faculty is great. They do a great job with the financial resources the state gives them.
Tips for prospective students Research the application process and know all the steps ahead of time to make it easier.
Academic Rigor The majority of the classes I have attended have been challenging academically and I enjoy that. There are a few that I felt could be more challenging but I fell that this is the case in most school you go to.
Dorm Life Ive heard good things but I don't live in the dorms. I found it would be cheaper to live off campus then to pay for dorms.
Food and Dining The food on campus is good but its kinda pricey, however there are plenty of good places to eat around the school.
What to do for fun The clubs on campus hold many events and fun activities for students and you dont have to be in the clubs to participate. The gym is wonderful so its nice to go work out there and there is a pool too.
Bang for the buck This school is the most reasonable, price wise, in the region and it is pretty impressive academically and has great facilities.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is a pub on campus which I found supfising but I was told many schools have them
Campus Safety I have found the campus to be very safe and the security staff is quite helpful.

Tips for prospective students Always study hard. Use the library and they have some textbooks in the library under course reserves.
Academic Rigor It is difficult at times. You need to study.
Dorm Life Does not apply.
Food and Dining It is good.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSUSB is a great place to learn with caring professors who are dedicated to providing a meaningful education. The campus is nice especially in the morning with many places to hang out and study. The student population is very diverse so you get to meet many different kinds of people and so far has been an awesome experience.
Tips for prospective students Take it slow your first quarter so you're not overwhelmed with the transition to college. It's not like high school; it's so much better, in my opinion. The Pfau library is an excellent place to study and Commons is my favorite place to eat on campus. But the Student Union is a nice spot to hang out as well. Most of all try to find a balance between work and play.
Academic Rigor So far the classes I've taken haven't been too overwhelming. Some classes definitely challenge you but you learn how to manage it.
Dorm Life I do not live in the dorms, but I have a few friends that do. They have roomates who are from all over the place and they get along really well. You get to learn about cultures that are different from your own. The dorms are small and expensive, but I would recommend it for your first year so that you can get the experience.
Food and Dining There are a few options for eating on campus. My favorite is Commons which provides you with an array of cooked foods and other things with a friendly staff. Another option is the Student Union which provides you with fast food types of food that are good every once and a while. There is also a starbucks located in the student union.
What to do for fun Coyote Night Life is fun to go to. It's sort of a carnival game setup that happens every week. There's a great recreation center to go to work out and stay in shape. There's also basketball and tennis courts and soccer fields. Plus there's always some event going on. I went to a Snow Day where ASI brought in a whole bunch of snow and had places to snowboard and sled down a ramp down this big hill. The way I see it, there's always something to do, you're just limited by your imagination.
Bang for the buck You get what you pay for. Luckily tutiton isn't as high as other schools but still the raising of tuition and the increasing of class sizes isn't something students and staff are happy about.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I do not know of any at this moment but if you would like to find out come take a visit to the campus and ask around.
Great for these types of students For any type of student who likes to learn and experience new things.
Clubs and Activities There's a club for everything, you just have to ask around and find it. Most people are very friendly and if you want to join a club all you have to do is ask. I'm not involved in any clubs yet, but am in sort of a tennis club. The people there are awesome. We teach each other about the game and share experiences and most of all have fun.
Greek Life I am not involved in this either but have been approached by many fraternities. There are a lot of different fraternities and sorrorites to join that are based on service, religion, etc. Everyone is one of those is really close. So if you want to make some lifelong friends or like network I would recommend you join a fraternity/sorrority
Campus Safety Campus police is on call whenever you need them. A couple of my friends saw someone who looked suspicious lingering in the parking lot so they called campus police and they were there and minutes and had him removed from the premises. They are fast and efficient so it makes you feel safe. But most people at CSUSB are friendly though so you feel like that anyway. There's blue call stations for campus police everywhere.

Tips for prospective students Went to open house. Seems like an awesome place to live and learn for 4 years!
Academic Rigor Your going to know your profs at this school and they will know you!Sitting in a Chemistry seminar with one of the profs you could tell that these folks are experts in their fields. Solid prep for Med-School.
Dorm Life Toured and found that Serrano Village sucks! Arrowhead and University Village rock and are worth the few extra bucks. Also plenty of nice apartments off-campus within walking distance.
Food and Dining Adequate.
What to do for fun CCAA Champions Coyote Basketball plays in a large venue! Concerts, Theatre. Student Union events year round. Ontario, and Riverside (much larger and developed that San Bernardino) nearby just take omnitrans and metrolink (cheap and underused). Or drive with your own car (freshman are allowed).
Bang for the buck Unbeatable value if you like Low to no debt!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus They say watching people walk through campus during high Santa Ana winds at season changes is Hilarious!
Great for these types of students If your smart, social, and appreciate diversity. If you love flip-flops, shorts an T-shirts. Also, if you like to ski, surf, off-road, hike in the mountains, and be in So-Cal all year then this place is for you.
Clubs and Activities All types or just start your own with 5 people.
Greek Life Present but not overwhelming!
Campus Safety Super safe! Blue alert stations everywhere, personal escorts at anytime.

Academic Rigor Always providing students with opportunities and challenges

Bang for the buck School isn't too expensive comparatively but tuition is steadily rising.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences in a scale of 1-10 the school would get a 9. the campus is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. although its a fairly large campus the people here are friendly and helpful as well.
Tips for prospective students living on campus is the best option i could have ever chosen. i get up in the morning and walk straight to class. the classes aren't a handful and they're fairly easy.
Academic Rigor i am an EOP student and in order for me to stay in the program i'd have to keep up with my grades and not let them slip.
Dorm Life this is the best choice i could have ever made. i live an hour away and commuting wasnt an option for me. the reason i chose to live on campus was because it was convenient. dorms are kept clean and you get to meet new people.
Food and Dining they have a variety of options here. they have pizza hut, taco bell, dennys, subway and WOW. they also have weekly dinners in which they make homemade type of food
What to do for fun hang out with people at the dorms, watch movies, eat out, party with fraternities and enjoy college life

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences California State University, San Bernardino offers many programs to help students be successful, but one must apply themselves and look for the help they need in order to succeed. Although it is difficult to get into the classes you need, the professors are always willing to help in whatever they can. It is overall a good school, but one must be aggressive and have there goals set in mind in order to have a success story from CSUSB.
Tips for prospective students If you are eligible, apply for EOP (Educational Opportunity Program). This is an excellent program not only because you have priority registration your first year, but you also have your own advisor and they help you out with some extra cash to buy books and school material. There are many other programs that one can apply for and are very beneficiary. Before you decide if you want to attend this school for sure, find out if they offer your major and how much tuition is. Also know what the student life is like and any clubs or organizations you would be interested in.
Academic Rigor Most of the general Ed classes are pretty easy if you take them seriously and try your best. Even though they may not be important for your major, those classes will help boost your GPA and help you be an overall well educated person. Mostly all majors require a high GPA in order to apply for internships or get a job.
Dorm Life I currently don't live in the dorms, but I can tell you that I am definitely missing out. I have friends that dorm and I am always hanging out in their dorm. I'd definitely recommend for anyone to dorm for at least one year to have that full college experience.
Food and Dining The food can be better. They don't have many options at the dining hall and you get tired of the food pretty quickly.
What to do for fun There are always events going on, on campus and whenever you can you should definitely go to them! They usually give out a lot of free stuff and food! You can also set up teams with friends and play a game of soccer or basketball.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSUSB is a tolerant haven for any culture, belief religion and race.
There are outstanding and dedicated staff that dedicate time for their students.
Great personal growth is only one of the many results of attending CSUSB.Tips for prospective students If you are a prospective student, just know that what is most important is not the education itself, but what you do with the education. And if you want to expand your knowledge of people and capture different ideas that you will use in the future take advantage of CSUSB. Besides the low cost and proximity of Cal State San Bernardino, each classroom will bring about change and perspective to any individual. Who learns more; a chef who only learns one type of cuisine, or the chef who experiences different flavors and taste and chooses his own final recipe?
Academic Rigor This school, in my opinion, is very undermined by assumptions and presumed ideas. Only each individual can decide how much they want to challenge themselves. It does not matter what school you go to, if you are not willing to put in the effort to make acquaintances and be involved in your education. Cal State has great professors who care and challenge each and every student. It is just as challenging as any other University, and believe me it is not that easy getting a 4.0 here.
Dorm Life I have personally not had the pleasure of dorming at CSUSB, but I have many friends who do. The relationships and bonds they make with one another are mind boggling. It definitely seems to be a family-like environment. I can say this because I am always welcomed among strangers as a new close friend before even returning a smile. Dorm life is recommended for first years because the friendships will urge you to return the following year and finish strong.
Food and Dining There is great food inside the Student Union. But the best part is that it is all so close. Even pharmacies like CVS and Ralph's are walking distance from school. They have a Subway, MacDonald's, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, SushiTomo, IHOP, Jack In the Box among others, only in a two minute driving range. And if you are on a budget, there is a student store that sells Top Ramen and a Cross Cultural Center where there are microwaves and hot water. No one goes hungry here at Cal State University of San Bernardino.
What to do for fun The fun depends on the individual. If someone wants to have good-natured fun, they can go to the Village Square, where there is a pool, a pool table, piano among other things to do. Hanging out with friends and being aware of all the free events that go on here is vital to having fun. As for those who want adventure and excitement; there are a few night clubs near our school as well as raves, the observatory and a park on Kendall. Again, it is each person who decides whether to be socially involved and have a good time.
Bang for the buck Friends! The people I have personally met have only made my experience at this school more enjoyable. Listening to good music, taking walks with non stop laughter, competing against the best grade in a class. And even older individuals who go back to school give us perspective on the situation and how important an education is in our society. I have been blessed to have met very intelligent people who challenge my assumptions, who bring curiosity and even have become my leaders throughout the school year.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are more than a few unusual locations on campus. The campus is 27, 000 square miles of beauty and interesting surprises. There are a few remodeled buildings and would definitely excite a wanderer. For some funny locations there is a CSUSB memes page on Facebook, which brings in our traditions and activities of students. We often get people from other schools to like some of the comical memes.
Great for these types of students The adventurous, the type of student who is not afraid of being social and getting to know different people. Those who are tolerant of others, or who wish to become more tolerant. Those who want to pay less than a UC, those who like a challenge, and those who want to make great friends who have some of the same tastes and interests.
Clubs and Activities There is just about anything for anyone. I am personally involved in LOFT which is Latino Business on Fast Track, LBSA; Latino Business Student Association, Campus Generation, Catholic Newman Club. There is something for everyone. If you are in the LGBT community, we even have a room dedicated to create awareness and tolerance for everyone. There are clubs for many religions, there is the Greek system and many many more.
Campus Safety There are blue Emergency posts all around campus. There are a few Security personnel near the dorms and apartments in order to ensure safety. The community is very comfortable and safe, so few people feel threatened or scared around campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The campus is beautiful. Despite being in San Bernardino the area completely surrounding the school is nice. I have loved all my teachers so far, totally worth it.
Tips for prospective students Regardless of freshman or transfer status become friends with your teachers by going to their office hours. It is the best way, other than studying, to secure a good grade.
Dorm Life The school is mainly a commuter campus so people in dorms generally go home for the weekends so its pretty quiet.
Food and Dining The Commons and the Student Union are the places on campus to eat and the food is pretty good.
Greek Life I strongly recommend giving greek life a chance, especially if you are new on campus. You will learn very quickly that your class mates do not go to school to make friends.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the school is small, but allows you expand as a person. the teachers here a very friendly, though will push you, but only because they are trying to help. also, the people here are decent.
Tips for prospective students get involved! it is really important to learn about your school and the opportunities they provide. also, make sure to join on campus student organizations, networking is good!
Academic Rigor some courses are challenging, but nothing that can't be dealt with through studying.
Dorm Life though i don't dorm, i am constantly in the dorms. the people are fun to be around, but at times have to be reminded to be respectful of those around them.
Food and Dining the food at the school can be improved, but it is still very adequate. just be careful to avoid the constant trips into the student union, now that's where all the unhealthy stuff is.
What to do for fun i am very involved on campus, being a member of three organizations. being in clubs means meeting new people, and doing fun things. from socials to activities, clubs are great source of fun. the school also puts on events such as the snow day, or campus dances. also, organizations put on events and plan trips.
Bang for the buck you can probably go to another school for more activities, but it will probably cost you way more. this school gives you the best it can with its more affordable student fees.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus we have an art museum that features some really cool exhibits that constantly change.
Clubs and Activities the clubs are really great, especially cultural ones! but they provide you with a large variety in case you are a bit more picky.
Campus Safety though a bit creepy at night, this school has been known for its security. there is constant patrolling of the campus at all hours. the school also set up emergency call systems set up throughout campus in case you need help.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences cal state san bernardino is a great school. it's easy to get classes, most of the professors are amazing, the school looks beautiful, and it's a state school, which means its not as expensive as private schools.
Tips for prospective students it's a big school, so a bike or skateboard would be recommended, and remember to register for classes on your deadline!
What to do for fun there are many things to do on campus for fun, there's movie nights all the time, inter-mural sports, and the school throws events for students all the time so that you can get involved.
Bang for the buck the economy is getting worse, and sadly the tuition fees mimic that, despite that fact, it is still affordable, and definitely worth it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is a bar for students 21 and older in the su building, 2nd floor.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the motto of the school is if you go to csusb, you can go anywhere. though i am a new student here i believe that the preparation gotten here is top notch. the emphasises is placed on the success of the students.
Tips for prospective students for your own success at csusb, involve yourself in all the resources that are availed to you. go to the professors office hours and all the study groups and you will find that you will excel in your courses.
Academic Rigor i believe that the rigor of the school is like any other school. it is hard enough that if you don't apply yourself, you will fail, but not so hard that every class sounds like greek. all the professors i have are interested in your learning by sharing their knowledge, instead of making you feel as if they are throwing you out in the deep and you sink or swim on your own.
Dorm Life i am an off campus student, but from what i have heard dorm life is great!
Food and Dining the food is good and if you are bound and determined not to like it because it is not your mom's cooking there are a few fast-food chains in the student union and nearby so you won't starve :-).
What to do for fun there are weekend programs to let your hair down. there are themed activities as well games on the weekend. oh yeah, there can be found a party or two.
Bang for the buck in these bad economic times when everyone cares about the rising costs of everything, this campus is doing all it can to keep the educational costs down.
Campus Safety the safety of this campus is really good. there are many phones all over the campus that will connect you to the campus police for escorts any time of the day. at night when you feel most vulnerable, this is very important whether you are walking to your car or to the dorm.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the school has many beautiful buildings to look at and be in. when one learns about the campus it draws you in and makes one want to learn more. it is a very comfortable environment through out the entire campus.
Tips for prospective students when one learns about the different classes cal state san bernardino has to offer one will like to take them right away. but everyone make sure you pay attention on your registration dates because classes will fill up fast. also to pay attention and stay on top of all things that are required for each course.
Academic Rigor every professor there is helpful. there are some that are difficult to deal with and others are just a piece of cake. however, no matter what kind of professor one gets just remember they are all not like how one describes each student has a different opinion on how a professor teaches that class or in how the class might be boring or fun to take. i say one should just take the class and find out on their own because we all have different opinions.
Dorm Life considering i do not live in the dorms i would not know how the life is there. however, i have stayed there even if it was for two days just for freshman orientation, i found it to be very hospitable. even not knowing anyone there they were all friendly and the rooms looked like they had enough room for what will be needed to live the college life. i visit my friends that live there and well of course they find it roomy and like home so the dorm life works out because they are at home but easy for them to get to school.
Food and Dining the food is great there i have only gone to some places there since i am a full-time student and have a busy schedule i have little time to eat. however, when i get a chance i like to go to the commons and try the different food they have. i find it to be delicious because i like how they don't just serve junk food and they have a variety of different food to give at least for the college students. it is also a great environment for all the college students because even though you are busy and need something quick we can buy things on the go with the different types of restaurants there are.
What to do for fun there are different things that one can do for fun. as an example cal state san bernardino provides a game area. the game area you can go and relax with all your friends play video games, air hocky, pool, or watch tv an talk. which is located in the santo manuel student union most of the students come here because it gives this hospitable environment once you pass the doors and you see all the friendly faces and you just want to get to know each other and have your laughs.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are as willing to work with you as you are to work with them, more-so even. They know their subjects from both academic and practical standpoints. It is on the quarter, not the semester system, so the semesters go by quickly. This means you need to stay on top of your work. I am junior who just transferred in, and compared to community college, I would say it is more difficult, but the lack of busy work given (as compared to community colleges) gives students more time to study.
Am enjoying being here It is my first quarter at CSUSB, and I have already made friends. It is helpful that I have completed my lower level general ed. courses because I can take classes within my major, so I will see the same group of people in different classes, which allows me to get to know my fellow students better. The campus is not in a very urban territory, so students tend to spend a lot of time on campus. The campus may seem large and daunting, but eventually you figure out the flow of the place. The Santos Manuel Student Union is a busy hang-out spot. It is where you'll find the food court. Many resource centers inhabit the building as well, including the Pride Center (LGBT), the Cross-Culture Center, and the Women's Resource Center. You do not have to be gay, cultured, or a woman to be welcomed in the groups. They are all very welcoming.
Bang for the buck I am a Studio Art major, and I am very excited to be taking classes here. I want to be sure to take advantage of the equipment made available to the students. I just took a Beginning Glass class, one you won't find at every school. You can draw anywhere, but glassblowing is not something to be taken for granted. There are facilities for Ceramics, Metal work, Wood work, Printmaking, Painting, Drawing, Sculpting, and Master's students get their own studios.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of all the opportunities the school gives you. Be active. Very little will be handed to you, but if you put forth the effort, there is much for you to reap.
If you have a bike/skateboard/long board, bring it. They are allowed on campus, and are very nice, as the campus is large and has gently winding side-walks that tend not to take you directly to your destination. The weather changes a lot throughout the day. Wear layers--you'll be putting them on and taking them off.Great for these types of students Those who do well in a fast-paced quarter system, as opposed to the popular semester system, will thrive at CSUSB. If you take an interest in Model United Nations (MUN), then this is the place for you. CSUSB has one of the most successful MUN programs in the country. This school is great for art students, especially considering it is not in the middle of an artistic environment, such as New York, Los Angeles, Long Beach, etc. CSUSB is often referred to as a hidden jewel. I would have to say, from personal experience, that this is true.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Many professors are professional, clear and concise. Many of them will go above and beyond if a student needs assistant, and will gladly meet with a student during office hours if they need extra instruction.
Am enjoying being here There are numerous amenities for students to take part in and enjoy. The Santos Manuel Student Union on campus offers many events and activities that are fun and enjoyable, in addition to many resources available to students. The campus is beautiful, and there is an endless number of things to do here.
Bang for the buck Some people may say that because the university is a CSU the education is not up to par as compared to a UC. I disagree; for the tuition and fees we pay, the instruction is great, the extracurriculars are fantastic, and the material is helpful and pertains to the major of your choice. A degree is a degree, it only matters what you do with it.
Tips for prospective students My number one suggestion is to seize the day and get involved (while focusing on course work of course). There are numerous activities, events and clubs at CSUSB that cater to a range of interests and offer opportunities of networking and making great friends.
Great for these types of students If you love having fun, hanging out and doing outdoor activities this is a good college for you. There's not much of a club scene here, but if that is not quite your cup of tea, then this college is for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I haven't taken any classes that go toward my major yet, because I decided to get my GE done first. It's not that the quality of the classes are poor, I just think it's very easy to get an A in these classes without much effort. I'm not saying that you won't learn a lot here, but just strictly speaking on the subject of GE classes I haven't learned much.
Am enjoying being here The only reason I put four stars is because I actually plan to transfer to a different school, but I ended up going here for now because it is cheaper. Otherwise, the campus is nice, there's a great view of the mountains, and there's all kinds of classes and subjects to choose from.
Bang for the buck The only reason I put four stars for this category as well is because of the rising tuition costs (that everyone is going through of course) and rising campus fees exclusive to universities. This school is not as expensive as most, but it's really hard to pay for college and everything else you need when prices go up and you don't make enough money through work or receive more financial aid to compensate.
Tips for prospective students It's very simple- do your homework!!! You will get awesome grades as long as you don't get too caught up in all the programs the university has to offer and forget that the reason you came here in the first place is to get an education and do something meaningful with your life.
Great for these types of students Anyone wanting to get an education at a Cal State lower in costs than other universities, people who have an interest in many subjects because this school has a lot to offer (especially prospective art majors, this is a really great art school) and people who would rather fork out the extra money to go to this school over going to a community college, because going here looks better on your academic resume.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot California State University has a diverse amount of courses available and an even more extensive list of Majors to choose from. I feel I have learned more in my first year than I learned my entire high school career.
Am enjoying being here Living on campus for me has been a challenge. I chose to live in the Freshmen dorms and spent many sleepless nights due to inconsiderate students who occupied the building. If considering Cal State San Bernardino I highly suggest living in Arrowhead Village or University Village.
Bang for the buck With rising tuition costs, it is becoming gradually more difficult to appreciate living on campus. If you choose to live in the Freshmen Dorms you are required to purchase a meal plan which costs approximately $2,100. Parking Permits just went up to over $100. So it is definitely something to consider if you choose to live on campus.
Tips for prospective students Chegg.com is by far the cheapest website to rent books and has personally saved my hundreds in my first year alone. Review all of your possible professors on Ratemyproffesor.com, there are reviews from students that give very valuable information on what to expect.
Great for these types of students Cal State San Bernardino is a great fit for any type of student. Part-time and full-time. This University is a great place for the sleep when it's done academic, but there is also plenty of time to relax and participate in campus activities.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here know what they are talking about. Most of them like to have their own little touch of humor incorporated within their lessons (it helps to come to class so the humor stays with you during mid-terms and finals). One of the most important thing I am grateful for attending this CSU, is also because the professors teach you things that you will be doing in the actual fields. Not much theory as it is hands on here. They also have numerous resources at their disposal, such as multiple varieties of computer labs, currently building an observatory, seismograph in the basement of the biology building, and chemistry labs.
Am enjoying being here The faulty here are more than helpful here. I have not had one incident where the professor was so unbareable that I would drop the class. The professors are willing to actually get to know you on a first name basis, this is extremely incredible considering at times there are more than 35 other students in the class, and the professor is able to call out your name by first basis, the feeling is awesome.
The administration is also one of the best in my opinion. They do not give you the run around of you need to go here, then there, then you find this person, and talk to that person. They individually tell you specifically you need to do x, y and z. No running in circles with the administration here. This includes information about parking, grades, class schedule, and most definitely Financial Aid.
Even though I have many other local CSU's that are closer to me within a 25 mile radius, I will never transfer from Cal State San Bernardino, unless I graduate of course, even though it is about 60 miles away from where I live.Bang for the buck No comments on the rising tuition here... Every CSU is increasing their tuition... However, in terms of the campus book store, they are actually really good priced. Sometimes the campus store would sell books cheaper than Amazon itself, which in my opinion is a plus. Another thing for the people who commute, the parking pass is relatively cheap (its about 84 per quarter) compared to other CSU or even UC's. They recently built two parking structures, so parking is that much of a hassle depending on what time you have class.
Classes are not a hassle to get either. There has not been one incident where I had to go to a class and ask to be add, with the exception of getting an overload slip. This place really is Come Here, Go Anywhere! Yotes!Tips for prospective students Coming from the Los Angeles County area, I believe the school has a really tight community. There are many instances where you will have the same class mates from previous classes, so making friends is not too hard.
As for tips, all I can recommend is get all the paper work on time, and your time here will be a breeze. This place is an easy maze to navigate.Great for these types of students I am more of an outdoor type of person, the surrounding area of the campus is a hill, very scenic. Lots of natural forces such as the Santa Ana Winds, threats of wildfires, occasional heavy rainfall that threatens to flood some basement buildings. So if you are looking for an adventure this is a place to be. Did I ever mention that they have one of theeee most awesome GYMS for a Cal State? A little teaser, are indoor rock climbing wall, individual screens for the thread mills, and the rest you would just have to go and see it for yourself!
