Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I rated this an amazing 5 stars out of 5 because I am learning a lot in my prerequisite classes. Interesting things I would have never known about if I wasn't required to take those classes. These prerequisite classes make students very well-rounded and informative on a lot of different topics. I took a Geology class which isn't related to my Business major, yet I learned about how the earth was formed and how it keeps changing. I also heard a few of the terms I learned in that class when I went whitewater river rafting this summer and knew exactly what our guide was talking about! So you may think: When will I ever use this in real life? and guess what you actually do!
Am enjoying being here The thriving town of Fort Collins is jam packed with an amazing atmosphere! You have to visit it to see! It has hookah bars, a few night clubs, bars, bowling, movies, Fort Fun, hiking, biking, Horsetooth Reservoir, Old Town with fun shops and fine dining, and much more. It is a college town and everyone is super nice and friendly!
Bang for the buck You truly do get your bang for your buck! CSU offers newly released movies on campus for two or three dollars and sometimes for even free! When you are a student at CSU you get to utilize the Rec Center which is included in your student fees and also tickets to the AMAZING Football Games at Hughes Stadium, free printing on campus, WI-FI Internet on campus, and much more!
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to try something new like an intramural sport or an art class. Just approach it with an open-mind, because remember everyone was in your shoes once. Make the most of your college experience because these are the best years of your life!
Great for these types of students Colorado State University is great for any type of Student. The University offers such a vast majority of majors that any would feel comfortable there. From Business to Veterinary to Engineering to Plant Sciences to Construction. Everyone will fit in!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The adjustment from High School to College was a difficult one. In high school, you may spend one hour on homework a night however, you are in class all day. With college being opposite, it was a difficult adjustment. However, Colorado State does a very good job of teaching during class and that helps with this change. Every professor I have had thus far does an exceptionally good job on using their time given to make sure they teach exactly what we need to know. Since we are in class for such a short period of time, they also use this time to tell us what we need to study and guide our studying by making their expectations clear on what they would like us to know. I have found that this is teaching me a lot. Instead of trying to learn everything in the textbook, I am aware of what is important and what is not. I rate this section 5 stars because the teachers are great at what they do and informing us on what we need to know.
Am enjoying being here Coming from out of state, I was very unsure about my college choice. I was leaving a very close group of friends and I was expecting to be very homesick. However, I was surprised when the opposite happened. Everyone at Colorado State University is very welcoming and friendly. A countless number of people opened up to me and approached me. This helped me make friends very easily. The environment is very open and excepting. However, the students are not the only ones that are making my experience a great one. The staff is also helping with this. All professors always have their door open and allow you to come talk to them whenever you would like. This helps a lot when your struggling or just need a few words of advice. Dorm life has also been a great experience. All dorms make sure that they give you opportunities to meet people. They have events in every dorm once a week that every student is allowed to attend. These events take place in the various dorms and it is a great opportunity to meet people. Overall, I have enjoyed being a Colorado State.
Bang for the buck Colorado State is worth every penny. Compared to other colleges, it's tuition is normal as far as price goes. While that can be expensive, coming from out of state, I can say it is worth it. The classes choices are numerous and ever professor I have had is doing a great job. The campus is beautiful and easily accessible. It is easy to get around and the everything is walking distance. Colorado State had been designed to be worth every cent that they charge.
Tips for prospective students My first tip would be to take college visit. See the campus and the city. This is definitely help make your decision because the campus is so beautiful. Also, look into every major they have. They do have a wide variety of majors, however, they are specialized in certain ones so if you are thinking about one of these then CSU is a great choice. If you decide to come, come with an open mind and an outgoing spirit. Weather you are coming from a near by city or out of state, it is always nice to meet new people. Be open to all types of people and be the one to start a conversation with a stranger. Get involved. Colorado State University has tons of clubs and activities. There is a club for every type of person, Join these. This way, you will meet people that have the same interest as you. Pick to live with someone you have never met before. This way, you are not just hanging out with the same people from high school. Overall, when coming to Colorado State, come with the an accepting attitude and be ready to have a great college experience.
Great for these types of students Colorado State is great for any type of student. However it is exceptionally good for a person who loves our environment. CSU is a green campus and is very involved in recycling. This makes a clean campus. Also, CSU is great for science majors. They are specialized in this field so any student who is interested in the science field.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are very diverse, showing you many different teaching styles, so you can decide how you learn best! There are dozens of places to study: whether you like a quiet peaceful field of grass, or a buzzing coffee shop.
Am enjoying being here I have lived in Fort Collins all of my life and I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy staying here for school. I figured it was worth a shot and decided to enroll at CSU. I could not be happier with my decision! The campus is absolutely beautiful and everyone is helpful and welcoming. Now let's talk about the location: Fort Collins! We've got the best of all worlds. We have mountains, the country side, and the city all in one area. There are tons of things to do around town: including bars, coffee shops, art galleries, restaurants, and shopping centers.
Bang for the buck CSU is pretty expensive, just like any other University. However, the knowledge gained by attending this school is well worth the cost. And there are always scholarships to apply for!
Tips for prospective students Ask for help. Your professors will be more than willing to help you, but they need to know when you need assistance. The best way to connect with your professors is by going to their office hours. Also, get involved! It's always nice to have someone to study with or hang out with, so meet some new people by joining a club!
Great for these types of students CSU has a pretty diverse student population. We welcome anyone who desires to spend their years of higher education on our campus. This school is great, and I recommend anyone who wants a city feel without the rush to at least visit our campus!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Although there are many lecture classes with up to 500 students, most of the classes specifically for your major are very hands on and educational. Professors are very eager to help you learn and make it enjoyable to excel.
Am enjoying being here Coming from a small town myself makes me love Fort Collins even more. It's a large city with small town feel where you can hike on trails, take a bike ride, or swim in Horsetooth, but if you want to to something exciting there are always clubs, bars, and tons of great places to eat.
Bang for the buck Being an out-of-state student has disadvantages of having a large financial burden, however CSU is worth every penny to me. I would not change colleges for anything and think it is well worth my money.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you tour the college before you go and also get to know your roommate in the dorms before you move in via Facebook, instant message, or phone call.. It helps make the living situation easy from the start.
Great for these types of students Students in the College of Agriculture have a huge advantage I feel since the school was originally intended for those students and then expanded. Theses professors put their hearts and souls into everything they do. GO AGGIES!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This university has one of the best Natural Sciences programs in the country so I am privileged to be able to attend and learn from some of the most talented professors. Each one of my professors is passionate and outspoken on the subject that they teach as well as eager to make sure I learn and succeed in the process.
Am enjoying being here The environment is incredible, the atmosphere is very laid back and friendly. Fort Collins is an amazing town and makes me feel right at home. The town is just as supportive and pumped about the university as the student body, so even the locals are very friendly. There is a clear balance between academics and social life at CSU so people don't get caught up in one or the other. It's very easy to get overwhelmed with academics but CSU does a great job of promoting school events and giving the opportunity to release some of that stress.
Bang for the buck Every college is obviously going to cost a decent amount but CSU is worth every penny. The knowledge I have learned in addition to the social experience I have had is completely worth the cost. There is plenty of financial aid out there to lower the cost of tuition but even without that, there should be no price tag on the knowledge, friends and experiences that will come out of an incredible journey at CSU.
Tips for prospective students If you're a freshman, get involved with your hall. They are the people you will be living with for an entire year, become friendly with them when you first move in and you will have a better social experience. Also, take advantage of all the sporting events that CSU has. They are very fun to attend especially when you show school spirit get pumped for the athletic team.
Great for these types of students CSU is great for any type of student. I have honestly met a plethora of students and not one hasn't felt part of the CSU community. There will be something or some group on campus that you will feel part of and CSU does a great job of making sure that happens. In the beginning of the year, there is a couple of club fairs that can really help get a student involved, that is the best way to find your niche.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This school is amazing for the field I am in. The science classes here are without a doubt highly ranked, not to mention the pre-vet program is amazing followed by CSU's vet school (which is ranked #2 in the nation as of 2009).
Am enjoying being here Everyone is athletic and quite friendly, not too many smokers as well, a very healthy environment. Big enough area for if you want to either be a party animal or a study bug, both fit here.
Bang for the buck If you are in-state yes, but out of state can prove quite expensive.
Tips for prospective students -Take school seriously now, studying is key here, as of any college
-Can be quite cold and windy at times so that should not fully bother you
-Other than that not too much, great school very helpful academic staffGreat for these types of students -Very athletic and have big outdoor hobbies (such as camping, hiking, etc.)
-Any student interested in pursuing any field of science

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Even though CSU doesn't receive as much national recognition as most public universities, the quality of the facilities and professors is undeniably equal if not exceeding the national standard. Even in the large general elective classes that every student has to take, the teachers make a point to provide times to meet with students and address their concerns not only with the class but also with any other problems they may be having. After a year and a half at Colorado State, I can say that only one professor I have had so far hasn't been enthusiastic about their subject and willing to answer any questions the class had. Plus, if you ever want to find out more about your professor before you ever take a class, RamRatings.com provides student-submitted reviews of practically every teacher at the university. Overall, Colorado State provides a well-rounded learning experience regardless of your chosen major and ensures students are prepared for life after college.
Am enjoying being here On top of the newly-renovated student recreation center, the world class dining centers and the vibrant downtown area, the entire community of Fort Collins is possibly the most welcoming place you could imagine. After knowing practically everyone in my graduating class, I was afraid that I would have trouble meeting and connecting with entirely new people. I shouldn't have worried at all. CSU offers a vast array of student clubs, organizations and social events that provide opportunities for every type of personality to get involved, including the Outdoor Club, Associated Students of CSU (student government), Humans vs Zombies Club, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center, a healthy Greek system and numerous competitive club sports. Even outside the university grounds there is something for everyone. You could visit one of the outstanding local restaurants in Old Town Fort Collins, take a hike up to Horsetooth Rock, cheer on the Rams at Hughes Stadium, take part in the yearly Tour de Fat bike festival, go for a swim in Horsetooth reservoir and dance the night away at a concert in the Aggie Theater all in one weekend. When you combine these factors, you get the ideal college experience in a supportive, energetic environment. What more could you ask for?
Bang for the buck The one issue that Colorado State has is not even one that it can control. In recent years, tuition rates have been spiking as the state government of Colorado continues to cut funding for post-secondary education. As a result, tuition has increased at increments of 3-6% for almost a decade. It kills me to have to say it but the truth is that these tuition increases aren't likely to stop any time soon either. Despite this, Colorado State still remains comparable in cost to most other national public universities AND costs less than in-state rival CU-Boulder. Even with all of this, I would never consider transferring to another school. I couldn't imagine getting the same quality education and college experience at any other school and I will always be proud to say I am a CSU Ram.
Tips for prospective students In general, visit as many campuses as possible. The more you see, the better you can compare what you do and don't like about each college. Also, don't sit around your dorm room and wait to meet people. I guarantee that going to even a couple meetings for clubs that you are interested in will result in you making new friends (particularly at CSU). Don't be afraid to ask your professors for help either because they know that college is a big transition academically from high school and they will give you as much help as they can (once again, especially at CSU). Specifically for Colorado State, be sure to take a campus tour from the Admissions office when you visit. The guides are students at Colorado State and they are extremely nice and willing to address any questions or concerns you may have about the university. Finally, and most importantly, be honest with yourself. If you don't think a school is right for you, don't feel obligated to go there because of the college is some big name university or its where your parents or friends went. I was a National Merit Finalist and could have gone to virtually any school I wanted but I chose CSU because when I visited, I felt at home. I'm not trying to say that Colorado State is perfect for everyone, I just want every prospective student who reads this to know that they will know when they've found the right school for them.
Great for these types of students As I've said before, CSU has something for everyone and the university as a whole prides itself on attracting such a vast array of students. From a specifically academic standpoint, though, the Colleges of Engineering, Natural Resources, Natural Sciences and Agriculture are consistently recognized as some of the premier ones in the country. The College of Business is also garnering more and more national attention and the veterinary program continues to attract some of the brightest students in America. Outside the classroom, the outdoorsy, adventurous student will definitely find a million things to love about Colorado and even those looking for a big-city experience can appreciate the nightlife in Old Town. Oh anyone who loves to eat (everyone) will love the selection of restaurants around the city. Overall, CSU and Fort Collins can appeal to just about everyone.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning a lot but I am also distracted a lot. I've learned from experience during my freshman year that it's really not like high school, which is actually true because you have more freedom and independence. Basically your choice is either to focus or be distracted.
Am enjoying being here I really do enjoy the atmosphere since you do get to see a squirrel once and a while. On occasions, there will be lots of activities on campus, and usually you would get a free item or 2. During orientation and my freshman year, people were receiving free goody bags and shirts which was totally awesome! And what's great about these activities is that, they aren't just for CSU students, they are for everyone. There's no sign saying that these activities are for CSU students.
Bang for the buck I wish CSU could extend their scholarship range especially for college sophomores, juniors, and seniors along with college graduates, because with today's economy, middle and low income families are having a hard time paying for college right now. I know this because I'm having a very hard time paying for college right now especially when tuition all over the world is going up. My parents have four kids, do you know how hard it is to support so many kids?? other than that I would say CSU's tuition is alright, just make sure you are prepared for extra expenses.
Tips for prospective students make sure that you and your roommate get along during your freshman year! if you and your roommate don't get along, then you will face consequences. I think the whole roommate survey thing on the CSU's website isn't very accurate since I had a very bad experience with my roommate. She wasn't what I expected and she would do things unexpected when I was out of the room, so make sure you and your roommate will get along. Talk to your roommate about certain rules with your items and etc.. I also recommend that you don't room with your best friend either. :)
Great for these types of students This is a great college for most students. I say Colorado State University (Fort Collins) is a great choice for those who want to study sciences or music. Students have a wide variety and options in what major they want to get in.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Campus tours and all orientation and preview sessions are student lead which makes asking questions much easier and you know you are getting a real honest answer. I knew exactly what I was getting into and found many different on campus resources because they want you to succed at their school.
Will enjoy being here Ft. Collins is a great town. Not too big but not to small. It is close to nature but there is plenty of things to do in town. CSU seems to constantly have something going on on campus and there are lots of clubs to help stay involved in the things you love.
Bang for the buck Overall, tuition is not pretty good and they are not shy when it comes to offering financial aid. However, I had a 3.94 gpa and a 31 composite on my ACT coming out of high school and was offered no scholarships which was definitely disappointing and surprising to me.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you visit (as cliché as that is) and attend a preview session. You will learn a lot. Also, if you need scholarships, I advise looking for outside sources as they don't award quite as many as you may think.
Great for these types of students Students who are unsure about their major/career going in, students who want to make new friends, and students who want to be in a city w/o always being in a city

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My first year was a challenge, learning how to study in college was very different from the way I studied in high school. I put in many hours at the library in study groups and with tutors outside of class, and it paid off. In current good academic standing, I have been able to maintain my out of state scholarships. Besides learning inside the classroom setting, I've also been taught much outside the classroom. Between balancing my time, becoming educated on the environment, and developing networking skills, I've also learned to live on my own. Balancing a checkbook, understanding the dynamics of a college campus, and living with roommates has all been a part my college educational experience.
Am enjoying being here Coming so far from home, I was nervous at first. However, after experiencing the mountains and taking advantage of all the outdoor activity, I decided to stay out in Fort Collins for the summer, obtaining a job at the CSU Police Department in between summer Ultimate Frisbee League and hikes up to Horsetooth Reservoir. Along with being outdoors, I'm also enjoying being here with all the volunteer and academic opportunities I've been given. The curriculum has challenged me, and I feel as if I have never had such enriching an education. The material I've covered my first year has made me feel like more of an adult, and is something I feel I can categorize as a college education.
Bang for the buck Although I am adoring my time at CSU, the lack of scholarship return this year has set me on edge. My out-of-state tuition is being pumped into construction projects all over campus, and, although it's great that the school is renewing itself, I feel like more money should be put towards the curriculum and student programs, such as club sports and advancing course technology.
Tips for prospective students Keep your minds open to new ideas, and don't judge people based on their first impression. You will not like everyone, and will discover new things about yourself and others. It's a strange and exciting experience, don't be scared to try new things and just put yourself out there to meet various people. It's the connections you make in college that are most important and become those that you will call upon after graduation.
Great for these types of students Colorado State University is a great school for students who are interested in the environment and love outdoor activity. CSU is also known for its business and engineering program, while holding a premium location close to the mountains, giving ample opportunity to hike, bike, ski/snowboard, raft, climb, and observe nature's splendor.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In one semester at Colorado State University, I have already obtained a vast amount of knowledge. The professors are great, great personalities and they care immensely about each of their students. I have yet to come across a professor who didn't want to see each of their students succeed.
Am enjoying being here I love the Fort Collins atmosphere. The town is friendly and upbeat. There is always something to do and someone to do it with. I've met incredible people and made life-long friends and I couldn't imagine going to school anywhere else.
Bang for the buck As far as financially, there is no other place where you can get $1 pizza as big as your head from Pizza Casbah right across the street from campus and $3 Chai with free wi-fi open 24 hours from the Alley Cat within 15 yards of each other. Likewise, along with all your student fees the university holds great free events leaving no boring nights at home with nothing to do.
Tips for prospective students When coming to CSU you have to be willing to jump outside of your comfort zone. There's always something new to do and someone new to meet. If you're considering attending CSU I'd strongly recommend it, if you're not sure, take a tour of the beautiful campus and get a taste for yourself, I assure you, you won't regret it!
Great for these types of students If you're interested in a great education in a great town, then CSU is the place for you. Colorado State is for people who enjoy diversity and a good time.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning so much at Colorado State University. The professors and advisers care for us and let us know that they want us to succeed. As a freshman, I had a hard time getting started, but my professors helped me and gave me advise about how to help get my grades up and what resources were there to help me.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being at Colorado State because it has been such an amazing experience for me. It has been everything that I wanted it to be. The school has an very friendly environment and the staff and students all all very kind and supportive. As a freshman, you have to live on campus unless you live with in a certain radius of the campus, but even if you live with in the limits, I would still suggest living in the dorms. It is such a wonderful experience and you meet so many wonderful friends that you probably would not have met if you did not have that experience. The town that the university is located in, is also very welcoming. Being a smaller college town, it is very helpful to the students at Colorado State. Everything about being at Colorado State University is enjoyable and I love being a student to the amazing school.
Bang for the buck Being an out of state student, Colorado State University is a very expensive school to attend. I did not get any help from the university when it came to financial aid, except work study. The school is very willing to grant work study to those who qualify for it, and also help students find jobs so that they are able to collect their work study money.
Tips for prospective students There are many tips that a college student can give to prospective students attending any college. The first tip that I will share is to live in the dorms and join a learning community, this will give you a chance to meet people and make friends with people who have the same interests as you and who may be in some of the same classes as you. Another tip that helped me is to get involved. You probably heard this all the time about high school, but its the same when it comes to college. Many clubs help you with networking and hook you up with an older student who have more experience and will help you adjust to college life. I have three different mentors at Colorado State and I am so happy that they are there to help me. Lastly, I encourage students to get involved in their classes. The most important thing when it comes to classes is to meet your professors and make sure they know who you are from the beginning. This could help you in the future; if you have a hard semester and need to talk to the professor about your grades, you want them to know who you are, if they have no idea who you are or that you were even in the class, this could hurt you, and the professor may be lass willing to help you.
Great for these types of students Colorado State University is a great school for any student. It is very welcoming and has programs that fit almost any student. We have a strong Global Community and have students who come from many countries all over the world. Many times I hear that students do not want to go to a school that is overwhelmingly large, but they also do not want to go to a school that is really small. If you have there thoughts about choosing a university then Colorado State University is the school for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot While the upper level classes can be difficult, I am learning so much. Because my classes are all required for my major, the things I learn in one class really relate to other classes; it's finally all connecting. Most of the professors really care about their students and want to see them succeed. All my professors have several office hours and are available by appointment. In addition, there are at least three places within walking distance that provide free tutoring every weeknight!
Am enjoying being here I love being at CSU! It is a wonderful community of friendly people. There is always something to do on campus; the RAs and various student organizations are great at planning inexpensive and (usually) free events for students. For instance, there were several free, fantastic Haunted Houses on campus this Halloween and Ludacris will soon be putting on a show free to all CSU students. The plays and musical performances are wonderful and moving. Fort Collins is also a great place to live in general; between Old Town shopping and dining, cheap movies, and being less than a couple of hours away from any mountain to hike, rock climb, or ski, there is always something fun to do at CSU!
Bang for the buck With the economic downturn, tuition costs are rising, but college is worth the extravagant cost, and CSU is definitely an excellent college. There are always free activities for students needing a break from the books, the professors are very knowledgeable, and CSU is always offering part-time jobs to students looking. There are also many career fairs throughout the year so students can start networking early to get a job right out of school and start making real money.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus of any and all schools you're interested in before you decide; how well you like campus (its beauty, the people, walking distances) are very important. Also, get information about the programs you're interested in. The reason I chose to come to CSU is because I went to many Engineering events and talked to several faculty (including the assistant dean of the college) and they are all incredibly enthusiastic about their job and giving students whatever they need. Don't be shy or intimidated, go learn everything you can about this wonderful university!
Great for these types of students Outdoorsy people will love it here; the most common forms of travel around campus are biking and longboarding. I have even seen a few Razor Scooters. The mountains are up close and look gorgeous. CSU's College of Engineering is also implementing all sorts of new programs to catch up with big name school like MIT and CalTech, so now is the perfect time for any prospective engineers with so many new opportunities!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning a lot in all of my classes. Going into my freshman year I was able to transfer a lot of credits, so I didn't have to take to many core classes, and was able to start right away on classes for my major. The largest class I have been in was about 300, but that's as big as they get, and most of my classes are no more than 200. All of my professors have been more than willing to help their students in and out of class in their specific office hours. There are many different resources for students to succeed in all of their classes, including tutoring and study groups. Scheduling is not like in high school, you get to pick your classes and what time you want to go to class each day. So you don’t get stuck in some class that is not interesting to you at all, and you don’t have to get up at 6 am everyday if you don’t want to; everything is completely up to you.
Am enjoying being here I love the whole college atmosphere and experience. The city of Fort Collins is basically built around the university. There are plenty of activities for everyone around campus and Fort Collins. For outdoors people there are tons of trails for running, walking and biking. The campus is very close to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. On campus you can form your own intramural sport team. There are also many different ways to get involved on campus or in the community through various clubs and organizations around campus. I have met so many great people through my classes, my dorm hall, and different places around campus. This is a very diverse campus, with students and staff from around the world. You have a real chance of learning about a completely different lifestyle and culture from anyone.
Bang for the buck Being an out-of-state student I do have to pay much more for tuition than I would like, but I wouldn’t choose to go anywhere else for my education. Based on all of the experiences that I have had in the last year I believe that being at CSU has helped me learn a lot about the world and myself. I love the people on campus, and all of the different opportunities I get each semester.
Tips for prospective students In college most instructors do not take attendance, because the classes are so big; but you should still go to class. I know from experience that sleeping through your 8 am class on Monday morning is very easy and tempting, but I soon learned that it is very hard to catch up on work in college compared to high school. If you miss a class you can’t just go up to your professor and ask what you missed on a certain day, because by the next class you are usually about a chapter behind already. The way some people look at is: if you don’t go to class you are wasting $1000 each semester on just one class. So if you skip all of your classes and party every night your aren’t going to do well in you classes, and will end up dropping out and wasting thousands of dollars. Another tip I have is to study. In most classes your grades come from tests, and there is usually no homework. So if you fail one test, the highest grade you can get will be a B. In you classes your professors just highlight the material that you need to know. They leave it up to you to learn everything that you need to know for the test. I know this from experience, so I have started recommending that people start studying right away, and not wait until the week of your tests to start reviewing what you learned in and out of your classes.
Great for these types of students CSU is a great school for anyone who is interested in going into some kind of science or medical field. We have great areas of study for everyone, but most I have spoken to about what they study are in some area of science, whether it is Physics or Biology or anything in between.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Excellent art department. Not so hot for painting I've heard but the printmaking facilities and teachers are the best of the best. I returned earn my masters here because after looking around at many other printing departments the one CSU has is the biggest and best equipped.
Am enjoying being here I spend all day every day at the studio. Its open and available 24/7.
Bang for the buck Awesome, we have 3 litho presses 2 small intaglio presses and then one giant intaglio press. We also have a woodcut printing press.
Tips for prospective students Be very dedicated to you field because the teachers give a lot of time and effort to the students and expect the same in return.
Great for these types of students Art students who want studio time outside of class. The curriculum is open ended and students are expected to bring their own ideas and concepts to class rather than have a teacher tell them exactly what to do (beyond the introductory course).

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i would recommend csu to any student. i have taken several courses that have changed my life. the faculty at csu help provide students with opportunities for professional development that really prepare students for the work force.
Tips for prospective students get to know your professors, they can be a great asset. join a student organization. it helps with networking, professional development, and can spark interests in new fields.
Academic Rigor some of the lower division courses can be fairly easy but upper division courses can be very challanging.
Dorm Life is ok if you have a friend to suffer with you.
Food and Dining the new academic village is really good for all meals of the day.
What to do for fun i like to go for bike rides. there are many trails around fort collins that are very beautiful and fun to ride. i also like to go hiking. horsetooth and lory state park is just on the edge of town and is fairly easy access.
Bang for the buck i would say that csu is very good at providing courses and opportunities that are certainly worth every penny or buck.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the hike to the a is a tradition for incoming freshmen that is a bit unusual. there is also a place called sherwood forest that has all the native colorado trees. two years ago there was a mountain lion kill in sherwood forest, i have most of my classes around this area.
Great for these types of students csu is excellent for environmental studies. csu is know for being the green university.
Clubs and Activities csu has many different clubs.
Greek Life greek life at csu is a bit crazy, in my opinion.
Campus Safety csu police are pretty good at responding to any situation. there are a bunch of emergency call boxes around campus, which allow students who get out of classes later to have a safety system. ramride is a great safety tool that gets students who go to parties and drink to not drive. so this tool helps students and the community stay safe from drunk drivers.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences csu has a great campus that is easy to navigate. the professors and ta's are really friendly and are willing to help students with practically anything. there are always activities going on from free concerts to theme nights at dining halls.
Tips for prospective students always, always do your homework! even if it's not graded, it really helps come test time.
get to know your professors, they can help with school and finding internships or jobs.
reserve textbooks in advance! that way you always have what you need and if you don't need it you can return it!Academic Rigor no matter what your major, there is always something new to learn and interesting things to do!
Dorm Life yes, there is a lot of people, but it helps you get to know people quickly! this helps when you want a study buddy or work out partner.
Food and Dining better than your average dorm food! there's a wide variety available for on and off campus students.
What to do for fun go to the rec-center and try something new, like rock climbing!
check out the free concerts.Great for these types of students academically and socially driven students.
Campus Safety safety is great! if you don't feel safe, there's always someone to talk to. the bike police can get a little crazy sometimes, though.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences colorado state university is a wonderful school with many opportunities for their students. it provides students with an amazing learning environment, a beautiful campus, and a wonderful staff. csu is a perfect place to earn a bachelors degree.
Tips for prospective students while attending csu, you must attend class in order to be successful. also, devote the recommended time (2 hours of studying per credit hour) that the university recommends.
Academic Rigor the academics are exceptional at csu, and i have yet to have a professor i do not like.
Dorm Life the dorms are a great time to meet new friends, and you absolutely will. leave your door open and make sure to get to know the other kids in your hall. the dorms are being redone this year (2012) so the incoming freshmen are in for a treat.
Food and Dining academic village has excellent food for a dining hall, and compared to most universities, the food is very good.
What to do for fun read in the oval, play sports with your friends, hang out in the courtyard, walk around old town, there are millions of activities in fort collins to participate in.
Bang for the buck for freshman, make sure you go to spoons in allison hall. for a swipe of your meal plan, you get a meal that all other students not including freshman have to pay for!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the oval is a perfect place to relax during your off-time. it is beautiful during every season.
Clubs and Activities csu offers a very large amount of clubs and activities, and they are all extremely open to new members!
Greek Life greek life isn't huge at csu but if you are thinking about joining a sorority or fraternity, there are definitely many options at csu.
Campus Safety there are call boxes all over campus, so even when walking alone at night on campus you still feel safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences colorado state university has some great people that can help with you with important questions regarding your major. they are nice, respective, and always willing to help you. the college environment itself is welcoming, and i don't regret my decision to attend here.
Tips for prospective students don't be afraid to ask questions! that's what the administrators at csu are there for and they're more than happy to help you have a great experience here.
Academic Rigor the professors here at csu expect a lot out of their students, even when it comes to general education classes. they take their jobs seriously and are always looking for prospective students who find classes interesting in order to recruit new majors in their field.
Dorm Life the dorms can be a distracting place, but you meet so many people through dorm life! you can find people with the same interests as you, and even other people in your classes so you can form study groups! it's a great way to improve communication skills and also gain a great amount of responsibility.
Food and Dining the food is great here at csu! there are many options, such as a vegetarian menu, gluten free menu, and more! there are always healthy options, and there's even a nutrition information kiosk in each dining hall to help stay healthy.
What to do for fun csu has free movie showings every night at specific halls, there's always an intermural sport team playing on the fields, and every weekend a van driven by students takes other peers up to the local ski resort to go skiing and snowboarding.
Bang for the buck universities can get a little expensive, but i wouldn't trade my money back for the world. your money is spent very wisely and it gets you a great education as well as a great overall experience at csu.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus one unusual location that jumps out at me would be the stump in the lory student center plaza. it's a tree that was cut down a long time ago so all that is left is the stump of the tree, and any student can stand on the stump and say what's on their mind or share their opinions. it's a great way to increase diversity and cultural awareness to other students.
Great for these types of students this location is great for students who are trying to promote clubs, speaking their mind, informing other students about current events, pretty much any kind of student can use this location to his or her advantage.
Clubs and Activities anything you can think of, literally anything, csu has a club or organization for. if they don't have your specific kind of club, you can create your own!
Greek Life here at colorado state university there are 21 sororities and 7 fraternities. the greeks are very much part of the community here in fort collins. they focus on community service and academics, and are always there to help others!
Campus Safety the coolest thing regarding safety would have to be ramride. this is a non-judgmental, safe way of getting home if students are not safe to drive home themselves. give a call to ramride and they will come pick you up and take you home, no questions asked. also, colorado state university is a dry campus, meaning that absolutely no alcohol or drugs is allowed on campus perimeters. finally, our university has their own police department so if ever you feel unsafe or scared when you are walking, there are emergency boxes all around campus, and the csupd will be able to get to you within 30 seconds of pressing the emergency button on that box. basically, csu has a great department of safety and take their jobs very seriously, because students all deserve to feel safe and comfortable.

Tips for prospective students Definitely take AP classes in High school and take the AP test. With 4's and 5's many carry over and it really gives you a jumpstart at CSU. CSU seems big but once you are within your certain college it begins to feel a lot smaller and doable!

What to do for fun Clubs, intramural sports, hiking, biking, pick-up games like volleyball and soccer, rec center fitness classes
Bang for the buck every opportunity available!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I love CSU, it has lots to offer that I didn't realize at first. As a science major, I love all of the research going on, and like with any big school, if you assert yourself, it's very easy to get involved with it even as a Freshman. There is also a giant variety of things to do and organizations to be involved with.
Tips for prospective students Apply for the Honors Program if you meet the requirements, it is worth it!
Academic Rigor This depends on your major. There are very challenging majors, as well as easy ones.
What to do for fun There's always something going on! You can pretty much have your pick of whatever you want to do.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Busy. Fun. Friendly.
Tips for prospective students This school is huge, so you have to work really hard for a lot of opportunities, but they're still there!
Academic Rigor Honestly some classes were easier than my high school classes.
Dorm Life I love it! But the dorms are kinda small. Like, my parent's closet could swallow my dorm.
Food and Dining Food is good, but not super healthy and you get tired of it fast.
What to do for fun I'm 17 so mostly I do school-run activities like concerts and special dinners. There are parties of course and just chilling in the dorms can be fun.
Bang for the buck It's relatively cheap but I don't feel like I'm getting as much out of it as I should.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Zombie wars. Too dorky to handle.
Great for these types of students If you don't mind being surrounded by people all the time and you're self-willed, you should do great!
Clubs and Activities I wouldn't know.
Greek Life I wouldn't know.
Campus Safety I walk late at night by myself sometimes, and I've never felt unsafe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The school is a suburb environment that really supports a learning. Classes challenge students to achieve their best at every level and help is always available. The best part, though, is the community, there is something for everyone.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to study more than you thought. Classes will sneak up on you if you are unprepared.
Academic Rigor Classes are challenging, but it makes you want to get the most out of your education
Dorm Life Dorm life is a blast! You will get to meet lots of new and interesting people from all over the world.
Food and Dining Food is good on a consistent basis.
What to do for fun Fort Collins is a big city, there is everything you could want from a mountain town available. Skiing is close, as well as all other outdoor activities.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSU is a large university that contains many different fields of study with the business school and engineering school containing very strong programs. CSU has many different fields of study and is relatively cheap (especially for instate) so it can be a good place to figure out your career path. Being a large school, expect large classes especially freshman and sophomore year.
Academic Rigor Like any large college it will depend on your professor, and field of study. I have not had any major easy A classes. You have to truly work for the grade you want.
Dorm Life Dorms will be a large hall averaging about 40 students mostly freshman, with one RA. Dorms are either co-ed or segregated. Segregated dorms share one large bathroom. I have heard a variety of dorm experiences that really depend on where you are staying and who your RA is.
Food and Dining The food options are solid, they contains vegetarian, and gluten free options. Also there are many different places to eat on campus so when one dining hall gets old there is another dining hall you can walk too.
What to do for fun For sports, there are endless large fields with different types of goals. There is a beach volleyball courts. A new climbing gym. Massive weight room and endless treadmills and ellipticals. House parties are common. Many other niche options as it is a large campus
Campus Safety This campus is safe as the city is safe. If people feel unsafe for any reason there is a program called Safewalk where two people will walk you anywhere on campus. There is a on campus police station, and bike cops.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Colorado State University is a great place to find yourself, figure out what you want in life and learn how to achieve your goals. The are many people here who want to help you succeed. Colorado State University will leave an impact on your life.
Tips for prospective students Stay on top of your work and know when assignments and paper are due. Start working on them three weeks before they are due, not the night before. Most important just stay organized and motivated.
Academic Rigor The classes I have taken so far were not that challenging you just have to stay on top of your work and attend the classes. All teachers have office hours when students can come and talk to them and get help.
Dorm Life The Dorm life is great. I think everyone needs to have the experience of dorm life because it is stepping out on your own and gives you much more responsibility. You meet new people that you will be life long friends with and have some of the funniest most memorable times with.
Food and Dining The food and dining services are nice. There are many different dining halls spread out across campus and offer different kinds of food. Such as a mongolian grill, hamburger place, toasted subs, and burritos.
What to do for fun For fun on campus my friends and I go to the gym and sit in the hot tub or swim in the pool. The gym offers fitness classes such as zumba so my friends and I do that for fun as well. When it is warm outside we will throw frisbee around on the IM fields or toss a volley ball on one of the various volley ball courts around campus. For off campus fun my friends and I go into old town and grab dinner when we are sick of the dorm food. There is a small concert house in oldtown that we will go see shows at sometimes.
Bang for the buck As far as bang for the buck goes Colorado State University is a decent deal. For in-state students, such as myself, tuition is around 10,000 a year. The dorms are also around 10,000 a year. I feel the dorms are a bit over priced seeing as they are such small spaces.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One unusual tradition at Colorado State University is everybody wears orange to the first game of the year celebrating our old school color which was orange.
Great for these types of students In the first couple of weeks in the fall a speed friending event is held. It is great for new students like freshmen and transfers or just students who want to meet new people.
Clubs and Activities Inter mural sports teams. These teams are for people who just want to have fun playing all kinds of sports and not take it too seriously.
Greek Life I am not envolved in greek life but I know some people who are they have mixed emotions about it. Some like others are only in it to have a place to live.
Campus Safety The Colorado State University campus is extremely safe in my opinion. There are campus police constantly driving around campus as well as riding around on bikes. I had a night class last semester and the paths that I walked on to get there and back to my dorm were well-light.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot It is funny how often you see what you learned in class out in the real world. I am a business major at CSU, so I just went for the science classes that sounded fun. This last semester I took Astronomy 100. Wile the course surprised me with physics content we also got to learn about the typical things in space. When writing argumentative papers I can use what I learned in Logic. Micro Economics certainly helped me as far as communicating with people about businesses and how they operate.
Am enjoying being here All of my teachers were easy-going people. Fort Collins people are so kind in general.
CSU really wants you to feel welcome by offering many free activities and clubs. As a freshman, I participated in the 1st Year Mentoring Program, Ram Chefs, were freshmen across campus get together to do the things they love.
The whole town of Fort Collins has great Ram Pride!
Quickly you realize your hall mates become family.
I could easily say CSU feels like a second home to me.Bang for the buck College is expensive. You cannot avoid it. For the $10,000 per semester you still get some perks. There are free movies that are usually new releases not even out on DVD yet available at the towers every Tuesday (The towers are two residence halls on the West side of campus).
In addition our campus hosts concerts and shows. This semester we had B.O.B. and the Wayans Brothers come to town.
Our recreation center is hard to beat! We have one of the largest rock climbing walls, a pool with a lazy river, and separate rooms for work-out classes. Outside we have a small bouldering boulder, beach volleyball courts, a HUGE field, baseball diamonds, and a roller hockey rink. Oh, and did I mention the smoothie shop?
Food here is delicious (for the first few months). The menus are diverse but as time goes on they become repetitive. However, we do have Spoons (soup and salad) and a Mongolian grill to save the day! Another benefit here is accessibility to nutritionists.
Where you start missing out is the price of parking. Not only is the ticket a high price, but the parking police are strict.
I do have to complain about food quality. Granted the same situation is seen at any college, there is nothing cooked here that has not touched some kind of oil or has fat jelly.Tips for prospective students Do not take the easiest math course out there. My roommate took the simplest class and had the greatest struggles. I was taking pre-calc (practically falling asleep in class) at the time. Most of what I saw in the easy math was stuff I had never seen. Trust me, you are better off to take algebra.
Use your meal swipes! Every week your unused swipes are thrown away. I originally got the 14 swipes per week plan, but realized you often eat out in a town with over 100 restaurants, eating in the dorm was normal, and I usually went home for the weekends. If your plans sound like mine, go with the 10 meal plan.
Be social in your classes. It is vital to have a study group (or at least a study partner), especially when it comes to take-home finals. Without friends, it would have been the death of me. Even with help it took me 9 hours to finish!
Bring a bike and a lock. Although you could walk around campus, a bike makes it 10 times faster (really helpful for procrastinators waiting 'til the last minute to leave for class). Just keep an eye out for those bike cops!
A good time to start classes is 10:00 am this way the latest you usually stay is 3:00pm. On Tuesday and Thursday I only had one class at 1, so I had those days to rest (or work).
Make friends with your hall mates. They come in handy when boredom strikes or when you need a ride. Getting to know them will also help you out later when picking roommates for your apartment.
Visit Old Town. It is so close, so why not?Great for these types of students If you are outdoorsy, you would like Fort Collins. We have nice weather and transportation to hiking and biking areas. Right up the hill is Horsetooth Reservoir. Not to mention our outdoor clubs.
If big classes aren't your thing, just sit in the front of the class. I came to this school knowing I would be in classes of 200+ students. I found that sitting in the front makes you feel like there is just your row and that behind you, thus it feels no different than a normal class size.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Even though I came into the school with enough credits to qualify as a junior, the classes are at that perfect place where they are challenging but not so difficult that I spend most of my time feeling frustrated. All the teachers I have encountered are incredibly dedicated to their subject and enthusiastic to share their passion for it. The campus also has this great tutoring program every day of the week from around 5 to 10 at night which ensures that I can always find help on my homework when I need it. Though the lectures can become huge (my chemistry class has something like 300 students in it), the teachers are really cool about letting you know exactly when their office hours are and are incredibly willing to talk with you about any concerns you have about the class or the subject.
Am enjoying being here I thought it was going to be hard to settle in, especially since the first weekend of the year is dedicated to orientation for first-year students and thus pretty much has activities going on 24 hours a day for four days. However, once the first weekend is over and once you have time to mull over all the information they throw at you about clubs, sports, classes, etc. it's surprisingly easy to feel at home on campus. There really is a club for everything I am interested in and the community they promote in the residence halls and among the colleges is just incredible.
Bang for the buck Granted, I am an in-state student and therefore the school is incredibly affordable for me, but I can't say for sure how affordable it is for out-of-state students. What's great though is that they offer a ton of scholarships for students and even more internship and work opportunities. Three of my friends who came into college without work found internships within the first month that are both high-paying and also very enjoyable. So for those of you who are worried about not being able to afford college, trust me, it's not bad at all!
Tips for prospective students Apply for scholarships and get involved! I know that's everyone's advice, but it's so relevant for anyone. Also take the time to get to know your teachers, even if this only involves going to their office hours for homework help rather than the tutoring center and just speaking up in class. The professors are always excited to get to know their students and like that this shows you are enthusiastic about their subject as well.
Great for these types of students The campus is definitely designed for those people who are enthusiastic about the outdoors and the environment. What's awesome is that the campus is huge on things like sustainability and animal advocacy so if those or similar subjects fall in line with your interests and passions then you're going to love going to school here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here are very knowledgeable, and are very willing to help. Sure, there are some professors that aren't that great, but other professors and TAs will often step in and help. CSU offers many tutoring and homework help programs.
Am enjoying being here There are so many campus programs and activities available on campus, ranging from swing dancing to zoology clubs, there are all kinds of places to fit in. Not only that, but Fort Collins has so many wonderful restaurants and outdoor activities. There are many parks and bike trails, and ski resorts are only a couple hours away. It's a great place to live and study.
Bang for the buck Obviously, colleges are expensive. However, CSU is a pretty good deal as far as universities go. As a full-time student, you get a free bus pass, free sporting event tickets, and many other free and discounted things.
Tips for prospective students Get involved right away. Meet with an advisor before you even enroll, and see what your prospective degree requires.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot CSU is an area where I have expanded personal beliefs through cooperation in dorm environments and through my sorority. The classes I have taken (i am currently a junior) have really expanded my knowledge of the world and ability to succeed.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely LOVE Fort Collins! Though I do get occasionally homesick, there is nowhere else that I would rather be. Fort Collins is a great town and has so much to offer.
CSU as a whole has tons of student organizations that you can be involved in to add onto your resume and experience.Bang for the buck It is a little bit pricey for out of state students, but well worth the national ranking. It is also one of the cheaper schools in the amazing state of Colorado! There are several programs that are the best in Colorado and are moving up quickly in national/global rankings!
Tips for prospective students Get involved at much as possible! Seriously, it will make college so much more amazing and personal.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are several chances during the semester to be part of the graduate student's and professor's research projects. I took part in a study for the Navy where i learned about exercise physiology before taking the class. I did exercise tests, took pills, had 3 muscle biopsies and learned more about my body. It was an amazing experience.
Am enjoying being here CSU is constantly being renovated and improving. Our gym has a rock wall, huge swimming area, and lots of fun group fitness classes. The campus is big but with a bike you can get to class in no time.
Bang for the buck The sporting events are free with student id, the town is amazing. if you like riding your bike, hiking, or ski/snowboarding it's the area for you. Almost every street has a bike lane and the beer is amazing here. We have my favorite beer company right in town.
Tips for prospective students Do not wait on filling out fafsa and getting your financial aid stuff in asap! march 1 is the deadline and make it!!! Do not settle on one major you might find something you really like that didn't interest you before. people are friendly but Greek life is not for everyone.
Great for these types of students we have international students, people of different backgrounds. But if you are like to party, enjoy science, and enjoy the environment it's the place for you!

Am enjoying being here Fort Collins is a thriving a beautiful city! Colorado State certainly adds to this,.. CSU has something for everyone with it's expansive options for degrees and student involvement! I am a third year student and will be completing my degree online, the transition was seamless thanks to the excellent CSU staff! I will miss you Fort Collins and CSU! Go Rams!
Bang for the buck Tuition is comparable and the financial aid services center is very helpful!
Tips for prospective students Consider joining the Key Communities if you want to network! You live the same dorm as the other ~20 students in your specific group and have at least one of them in all of your classes your first year!!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The University Core classes are really great. I have taken a few that I haven't enjoyed too much, but that's only because of my personal interests. The professors are great and are always willing to help. There are also plenty of places on campus where you can go for free help.
Am enjoying being here Fort Collins is an amazing city. Horsetooth Reservoir is only about 10 minutes from campus, Old Town is great just to walk around any time of the year. My freshman year I didn't have a car, but there is still plenty to do on campus! IM Sports, Greek Organizations, Movies at the student center, concerts at Moby Arena and the awesome rec center. I love it here!!
Bang for the buck I'm a business major, and the College of Business at CSU is ranked pretty high. We are ranked higher than Leeds at CU and we are less expensive. The cost of living in Fort Collins is also very reasonable compared to other college towns.
Tips for prospective students Tour campus, then just walk around after the tour is over. You will see so much more and get a better feeling for what campus is like. Then drive around Fort Collins and see Old Town, Horsetooth and all the other major attractions here.
Great for these types of students Everyone! Even though CSU is mainly known for its vet school, there's a place for everyone and so many ways to get involved!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning far more than I thought I would because college is not solely about learning what it presented in lecture. It is learning how to apply the skills. The classes are interesting, considering you choose your classes and when you get to take them. They are classes that I want to be in, so that I know that I can excel in them. The required credits are really very interesting, especially if you do not know what you wan to do with your life. That is how I narrowed the major I want.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere is outstanding. Both with the people and the nature surrounding the population. I have not met one person who I do not enjoy being around all of the people on campus are nice to you, and do not even bother with your year (Freshman, sophomore, etc) like they did in high school. Some of my greatest friends I met this year are juniors.
Bang for the buck It really is a lot of money, but then again so is any college. You are not just paying for the classes thought, you are paying for maturity. There is so much growing up to do in college your parents might not recognize you anymore by the time you come home. I owe my new attitude to CSU.
Tips for prospective students Go to your classes! There is no one there to tell you to go anymore, and you are paying for those classes. They aren't free anymore. Plus, be careful, that one day you miss will most likely be on the test. Go out and meet people! there are friends at this school for absolutely everyone, but you have to go out and find them, they aren't going to fall into your lap.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All of my classes are fairly challenging, there is not a whole lot of busy work, which is nice. All of my subjects are quite interesting and very engaging, well most of them are. Lit. classes are fun, they really go into depth as are the science classes. Chem 111, while only the lowest of the chemistry levels, is quite hard, and I would avoid CHEM lab at all costs, it's not a very fun time. Many of the liberal arts classes are pretty easy, but they have a lot of stuff due, often. Math classes are hard, especially MATH 160 calculus for physical scientists, so if you are not very good at math, don't enroll directly into it, get some build-up first. However, the pace online math classes are fairly easy to get through and fulfill all of the AUCC credits. LIFE 102 is an easy biology grade too, for those who enjoy bio. and need to fulfill that gen. ed.
Am enjoying being here The people are really great, the food is even better. You meet lots of people, and within your college it is pretty easy to find like-minded peers, which makes it easy to find people to talk to if you are new. Going to the free events on campus is a great way to meet people along with joining clubs. Also, through the clubs I have joined on campus, I have gotten jobs and volunteer opportunities that I may not have gotten without their help. The campus is very beautiful because of the landscape, tons of building going on right now, very up-to-date buildings, and of course the mountains right there. The town of Fort Collins is great, we've got old town with all the amenities there and then the newer part with all the big box stores. Campus is closer to old town (within walking distance) and is also close to the box stores (less than five minute drive).
Bang for the buck Prices are rising with higher education cuts, but it is worth it because of the education you get. Also, student fees pay for a lot of things on campus...things that you might actually want to do too. I think it is definitely worth it to come here, even though prices are rising.
Tips for prospective students If you are planning or thinking about coming to CSU, I would say for the first year, most people have to live in the dorms (unless you live in Fort Collins already), but if it is an option, you should definitely do it. The dorms are where I met 90 percent of my friends here, it is a great way to get to know people. Also, don't procrastinate on writing your papers and especially speeches...it hurts having to stay up till six in the morning writing them. Also, the biggest one, stay caught up on your reading here...there is a lot of it and I have found that reading the text book is usually a lot of help. Bring a bike...they're kind of a big deal here. Make sure you make friends with someone who has access to a car and your life will be much easier. Utilize Transfort in all other cases. Be prepared for a lot of outdoor activities, because there is tons to do outside here. Have Fun!!!!!
Great for these types of students Great for student who want a more rounded education and ones who love the outdoors. For example, my current major has an over the summer component where we get to stay for four weeks up at Pingree Park and learn about rangelands...great immersive education and a lot of time outside. The engineering program here, I'm told, is pretty excellent and the rangeland, forest, and watershed programs are good programs here as well because we have every natural range or forest type within a fairly small radius so we have access to a lot of hands-on training.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are hard and if you do not try to pass and put forth your best effort then they will fail you. So in other words you will find this at every college but CSU's professors are willing to work with you and help you attain your goals, you just gotta ask.
Am enjoying being here Fort Collins is a beautiful town and since its bike friendly it really cuts down on travel cost because riding a bike is free and keeps you in shape. The weather is usually nice as well, i would recommend this town as a great place to live as you transition from youth to adulthood, there are plenty of opportunities to find work and become yourself
Bang for the buck If your instate its a pretty good deal, as with all colleges its gonna cost a good amount of change but in the end the education and the life experiences that are available are well worth your money
Great for these types of students This a good school for students who are interested in all careers but still want to have an interest in the environment, there are plenty of trails and opportunities to be outdoors and participate in local and sustainable events and restaurants.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am majoring in business and minoring in Japanese in Colorado State University, and that was a wonderful combination for me to choose. The Business College is number one in Colorado due to its high standards and well rounded curriculum. My coursework has been comprised of a diverse set of classes to shape me into a well rounded businesswoman who is knowledgeable about all aspects of her company. The teachers are passionate about their subjects and it shows in the classes.
The language programs are rigorous at a college level. Classes meet for an hour everyday and are filled to the brim with projects and activities to increase comprehension and memory. Unlike high school, students can be sure to make it through their entire textbook and workbook. I came here not knowing a drop of Japanese and after just one year, I know more than my brother who spent three years studying the language in high school. Although it is difficult, there is a higher sense of accomplishment that keeps students invested in continuing forward with the language.Am enjoying being here The first time I walked onto the CSU campus, the first thing that struck me was the atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly and willing to help. When we went on dorm tours, many students were scrambling to show us their rooms and when I signed up for classes the counselors were patient and completely ready to answer any question. There is something to do every night and a place for any type of person to plug in.
The campus is also beautiful. The mountains are looming just to the west and the grounds are covered in trees, centered around the green sporting fields and the gorgeous oval that was the original school. The facilities are pleasing, with a nice combination of older buildings and new ones being built every year. It is easy to find a quiet place to study, or a place full of life.
With my wonderful classes, clubs, and surroundings, I could not be happier.Bang for the buck Colorado State University is not horribly expensive. However, out of all 50 states, Colorado is the second worst ranking in financial assistance. However, I believe the new buildings and beautiful refurbished Rec Center that is always full of students are worth the money. Compared to many schools, CSU's price is very affordable, and the money is going into a staff that loves what they do, a campus that is inviting, and buildings and technology that make for a better college experience.
Tips for prospective students Tips for college in general would be not to forget schoolwork in favor of college life, to read your textbooks, and to seek out your teachers and make use of college resources if you begin to fall behind.
Tips for CSU would be to get a good laptop and a good bike. Campus is just big enough that walking is sometimes too slow, and just small enough that driving to class is more hassle than it is worth. Bikes are the transportation of choice and the grounds are covered in bike lanes and racks to accommodate them.
Good technology is hugely important as more and more homework, textbooks, classwork, quizzes, and courses in general are offered online. Since I have come to school, my computer has been my life. Luckily there is wireless offered to students over the entire campus.Great for these types of students There is something here for every type of person. However, CSU is most known for its Vet School. Most students here are working toward that goal. It is also wonderful for nature lovers and the like. Campus is close to many hiking trails, and ski resorts in the winter.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The facilities they have at this school are so detailed and perfect for any major. They also take learning outside the class room to a new level. They encourage study abroad and volunteer abroad. We are a big volunteer school that provides a lot of learning opportunities. As an education major, I didn't think I would get to be with middle and high school students until senior year. My first semester sophomore year I worked in a middle school as a part of a class.
Am enjoying being here Fort Collins is a great place to live. There is a large community spirit that encourages college students. The campus seems big at first, but you'll know where just about everything is after a semester or two. The original campus buildings are still here, which gives the school a very historical feel, but there are modern buildings too to cater to new technology as the school grows. It's close to the mountains and to the city. This is what a college town should be.
Bang for the buck Compared to some schools, the tuition is expensive, but to others it's not. It's a good average cost but we get a lot out of our student fees. You get free bus transportation, free rec center use, and free home sporting event tickets. With everything the community and the location offers, I feel comfortable here but I am still paying student loans. It's college, you will spend money.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus before and/or after applying! I visited three times and always learned something new. You get to know the area a little better, the tours are great especially for families, and you get to know what the dorm experience is like. They love diversity so anything you can add to spice up your college application essay is a plus.
Great for these types of students Anyone that loves volunteering, outdoor sports, and animal or agriculture sciences. If you're interested in theater, you will not be sorry for coming here and seeing or being apart of a show. Anyone who wants to feel apart of a community. There's something for everyone.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am a Health and Exercise Science major here at Colorado State Univeristy. I have already completed 13 credits, and am currently working on 15 more. While here I have learned many things through core classes such as biology, math, history, psychology and many more. The professors here are all very kind and easy to talk to and get help from; they are very knowledgeable about what they teach and know more beyond their certain subject. If a student had a question or wanted to know more about different subcategories in a certain subject the professors would be great resources. They are also very fun classes that are enjoyable to sit through because one learns many interesting facts while being entertained. After attending classes here at CSU, I find myself knowing and wanting to share many of these things in daily conversations.
Am enjoying being here Being a student here has many positives. As a freshman living in Braiden Hall on campus, it is nice being in a central location near a majority of my classes. This allows for more sleeping in and more motivation to go to class. Also as a student there are perks such as getting into sporting events free, riding the bus for free, use of the amazing student recreational center which is brand new as of 2010 and with the addition of a new pool which will be ready in the spring (2011) chance to join any of the diverse clubs and organizations, networking with other college students, many job opportunities, free t-shirts and other small things available on campus, lots of help in anything a person does not understand or wants to learn more about. Also Being located in Fort Collins allows for many fun activities to do outside of school work such as going to Old Town for free concerts, many good restaurants, dance clubs, movie theaters and much more!
Bang for the buck Money can always be an issue for people, yet here at CSU one can be assured that their money is being put to good use. Many things at CSU are available such as counseling because it is part of what is being paid for in tuition. Also CSU has so many great opportunities including ways to network, supplemental study groups, student kitchens and movie rooms in the dorms, many campus activities such as barbeque's, movies, rallies and many other events. There is always something to keep one busy here at CSU, yet they make sure to keep students motivated and on track with studies.
Tips for prospective students Tips I have for prospective students would be, do not procrastinate about applying to CSU or for housing. Also make sure to get involved as much as possible and attend as many of the sporting events as possible. It will make your time here at CSU even more memorable and fun. Also it is important to be confident in who you are and outgoing. Meeting people here is one of the easiest things I've had to do because everyone is so friendly but the more people you meet the more fun school is and not to mention creating study groups will greatly improve your grades!
Great for these types of students Great for any type of student! Whether its somebody who focuses only on studies or students who really like to get involved, or even the student who is mainly concerned with their social life. As long as you keep up with your classes and maintain good grades you can find a place to fit in here at CSU.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am attending CSU to receive a BFA in Graphic Design so this semester I had to take three prerequisite art classes that I had never taken before, including Intro to Drawing, 2D Design, and Art History. I was hesitant at first but I came to find that I was learning more than I imagined I would. My teachers suggested I try new things that I would shy away from at first but once I tried, I learned to expand my creativity. I really feel like I am becoming a well-rounded artist and I have truly learned to respect every form of art.
Am enjoying being here I love Fort Collins; I love CSU. Everyone around me loves it as well. This school is clean and respectful. My weeks are busy but I can relax on the weekends. I am with my boyfriend up at CSU so we walk around often and everyone is so friendly. Someone we have never met gave us high fives as we walked down Laurel one night! Fort Collins and CSU are very lively, which I love.
Bang for the buck I feel like I am learning so much in exchange for a fairly average tuition. The dorms I am staying in are also very nice and are priced correctly. The furniture is nice and the rooms are clean so I don't have to spend money on room spray. Everything around town is so close that there is no need to drive and waste money on gas. The buses are also free for college students so you really can't go wrong.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to meet new people, everyone is so friendly and they all have different stories. Make sure to keep an open mind as well. There is going to be so much to learn. Take it all in and try to apply it to your life.
Great for these types of students Honestly, it's great for any student. I have met so many different people doing so many different things. Everyone is supportive of one another.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have only been at CSU for only a semester, and am learning so much. CSU has a lot of variety for every individual. Forget the theory of how professors don't care about you at all, because the professors are amazing. As long as you care they will do anything to help you with your problems. There are hundred and hundreds of classes to take for every one's needs. Even if you are not majoring in the field, you can take a class that intrigues you. At CSU they want you to feel comfortable and only want you to take classes that you will like, so you can be successful.
Am enjoying being here It is a lot of fun. Dont think college is always studing. There are lots of things to do on campus. CSU offers lots of oppurtunity to voluteer and join activities that you love. No matter what you may want to do, CSU has it for you. CSU also encourages everyone to start a program that may interest other students to join, if you feel they don't have one that may belong to you or other students like you. You will enjoy yourself hear. College is the place to obtain an education, but it is also they best years of your life. Enjoy them to them to the fullest.
Bang for the buck College in general is expensive. CSU gives back what you put in. You are able to get any newspaper you want for free, enter home sporting events for free, and anything reallly offered to students is free. My favorite would have to be the rec center. Its a nice to place to workout and meet new friends, and all recreation class such as: hip-hop class, yoga, ab class, dance class, kick-boxing, and a lot of others are you free to students. Student fees pay for everyone the campus offers students. Ludacris came to the CSU Moby arena and did a concert and was free to all students. CSU want you to have fun and also being successful in class.
Tips for prospective students I want to urge everyone to have time management. It is very important to have a schedule or planner with you at all times. College can get very hetic and really be overwellming, but as long as you manage your time wisely you will be okay. You cant procrastinate, because papers and projects will require lots of time effort to get get a good grade. Also it's great to join an extracurricular activity of some sort if it is, club sport, drama, choir, intermural sports, rock climbing, sororities, fraternities, etc. There is something for everyone to join, no matter different you may be. CSU is a university with diversity and is welcome to all.
Great for these types of students Colorado State University is welcome to all. They do not care how you look, where you are from, or how different you may be. CSU promotes diversity and a place for all to feel comfortable. CSU is a second home to me. I have met lots of different people from everyone around the world. This university is different. CSU does not judge, but loves. EVERYONE is welcome. FEEL FREE TO BE YOURSELF

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are such a variety of classes here at CSU. Even when you have declared your major, you are still able to take classes that are both challenging and enjoyable.
Am enjoying being here The people and the environment are very encouraging! When I was little, I was taught all about peer pressures, but here the peers around me are so respectful of my choices and are very accepting of who I am. There is no fear to hide who I am. I am able to branch out and meet new people easily with no skepticism.
Bang for the buck It is important to remember that CSU is a state university. The value of education, yes, should not be determined by money, but the reality is just that. CSU is very expensive for both out-of-state and in-state, but it is very worth the financial struggle.
Tips for prospective students The number one tip I have for students looking to apply would be to not only look at the school's credentials, but also to keep in mind the town around the school in order for you to know if you will be able to have a life after all your homework is complete.
Great for these types of students CSU is very good for students who are looking for both a social life and a balanced academic career. CSU is a fantastic attraction for those who love to be surrounded by people; for those who don't want to feel like they are alone in this new chapter in life.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have absolutely learned a lot at CSU. The professors are all incredible and extremely different from one another, so every class is a new experience. Not only have I learned a lot from the professors, but the other students as well. The people here at CSU are incredible. I was in Key Service (highly recommended!!!) and I have learned more from the people involved in that organization than I would have ever imagined.
Am enjoying being here Choosing CSU was one of the best decisions I have ever made. There are so many opportunities to get involved here that it makes the large campus feel like home. There are so many ways to make this the perfect experience for you, no matter what you're into!
Bang for the buck As much as I enjoy it here, the tuition is pretty steep. The financial aid office is extremely helpful in helping you find any scholarships, grants or loans that you may need.
Tips for prospective students Get involved!!! This is a HUGE campus of 27,000 so you need to find a way to make it home. I have joined a sorority my sophomore year and was in Key Service (Look it up, i promise its incredible!) and those two organizations were absolutely an incredible part of my life.
Great for these types of students This is a very outdoorsy school. Hiking, and such. I am not particularly outdoorsy, and still love it. There is every type of person here! Everyone is extremely accepting of eveyone else!

Great for these types of students This school is great for students who don't mind larger class sizes for certain subjects, and for students who love to have everything at their fingertips. There is never a dull moment on campus or in Fort Collins.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot College is truly a time to learn. CSU gives you so many opportunities to learn about academics, culture, and other people. Most classes are amazing. As always, there are a few bad professors, but there is an abundance of resources to help you. There are also many amazing professors that love teaching and make it very easy to learn what is being taught.
Am enjoying being here The community and culture at CSU and in Fort Collins is amazing. From the first day you walk on campus, you feel at home. People are so friendly and there is so much to get involved in from activities and classes at the rec center, to the many clubs on campus, to sports games. You will never find that there is nothing to do. The Fort Collins community is really nice and friendly and complements the campus. There is Horsetooth Reservoir, bike trails, many restaurants, and many other things to do.
Bang for the buck College is expensive today, but there is no shortage of services and activities at CSU. The campus looks nice, but I don't feel like money is wasted on useless remodeling. CSU also makes it very easy to pay bills which just keeps life simpler.
Tips for prospective students Definitely talk to students on campus to get an inside scoop. Also ask where the best place for you to live would be. The best place depends on your preferences and personality. Get involved as soon as you arrive on campus. If you put it off, you will keep putting it off.
Great for these types of students Students who love a medium sized university in a college town will feel at home, but really anyone can feel at home. It has the best of both large and small colleges. There is a wide range of people with an even wider range of interests. It is pretty easy to find people with similar interests and that love to hang out.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Some classes may have huge numbers of students, but if you put the time in to talk to the teachers outside of class they really do try to help you succeed and give you great advise and help. You get out what you put in and more if you just try a little. Most classes also really try hard to bring things together with hands on experiences.
Am enjoying being here Whether you like to study 24/7 or party 24/7 there is a place for you. The atmosphere is absolutely positive and welcoming. Many places to go to drink, eat, enjoy nature, or just enjoy yourself. The on-campus gym is amazing and will spoil you for life so make use of it cause your tuition helps pay for it. Tons of newer exercise equipment, basketball courts, indoor soccer arena/volleyball court, rock climbing, pool with lazy river, volleyball net, lanes for doing laps, and a sauna and steam room.
Bang for the buck They try hard to get more and more outside funding to reduce tuition hikes but can't prevent them. They keep the buildings and technology update. Out-of-state tuition is still high but it is a top notch education with great facilities. I would not trade it for any other school, I have visited.
Tips for prospective students Use your resources while finishing high school to search for out side funding. The school tries to provide lots of scholarships, grant, and work-study but it cannot help every student, so you might be surprised at the short in funding they offer. If you enjoy a challenging education and truly advancing yourself this is the place to be.
Great for these types of students This college offers a wide range of degrees for its students, so almost every student can find what they are passionate about and study it. CSU offers great programs from liberal arts to construction management, to biomedical sciences.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The academics here are challenging, but there are many resources available on campus to help students earn optimal grades. For example, there is free tutoring available in the TILT building, and there is an abundant amount of workshops available each week.
Am enjoying being here I love everything about CSU. For starters, it is located in Fort Collins, CO which is home to the friendliest people I have ever been around. The students here seem genuinely respectful of others, eager to have an active lifestyle, and open-minded to new ideas and people. Nestled next to the beautiful Rocky Mountains, there are endless opportunities available to go outside and play. During the warm seasons, hiking, swimming, and boating are within minutes of the campus. The academics are challenging, but luckily every professor I have had is willing to bend over backwards for their students, and are very knowledgeable about their specific subject.
Bang for the buck In this tough economic time it is important to chose where to spend money on education, and CSU is a wise place to invest in because the academics are phenomenal, the people are caring and friendly, the area is beautifully surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, and there are a lot of opportunities to grow physically, emotionally, spiritually, academically, and socially.
Tips for prospective students I would encourage prospective students to connect with the community. There are many ways to interact with others whether it is through Key Communities, Honors, Slice, Greek life, volunteering, or any of the clubs and organizations available on campus. This is a great way to meet people with similar interests, and further grow your own interests.
Great for these types of students This college is great for an array of different students. It is great for the outdoorsy student looking for ways to explore because the Foothills Mountains are just a few miles away. This college is great for the introvert because there is a beautiful library available, and there is plenty of Wi-Fi on campus. This college is great for the social butterfly because there is numerous clubs and organizations available. This college is great for the athlete because there is a new Recreation center building, and many intramural sports to sign up for. This college is great for any person looking to pursue an incredible education, while still having loads of fun.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Try everything your first year.
Academic Rigor CSU is challenging and fulfilling. The science courses are fabulous and I've learned a lot already.
Dorm Life You have the chance to make some really close friends in your dorm and your hall, so take advantage of it. The dorms on the very edge of campus kind of suck location-wise, but those also seem to have the strongest communities.
Food and Dining Food is pretty good, especially in Academic Village. There's always something to satisfy your craving.
What to do for fun Old town is great for a night out and all sorts of random fun.
Great for these types of students Science and animal science students, as well as those looking for a big university experience and a chance to get involved in faulty research
Campus Safety I've never had any problems on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Colorado State University is a great scientific based University that is ranked as a top research Institution. The education is excellent for students and the scenery makes it a beautiful place to study outside during the spring and summer. Moreover, the teachers and the general atmosphere at Colorado State University is very uplifting and positive.
Tips for prospective students Be sure to get active by joining clubs that you are interested in. Colorado State University offers a great variety of clubs that range from dance to horticulture.
Academic Rigor Compared to a community college, Colorado State University is a significant step up and the difficulty of the work will naturally become more difficult the higher the division of the classes become.
Dorm Life The dorm life is a great place to meet lifelong friends. The people are very kind and the general atmosphere of the dorms is fun and uplifting.
Food and Dining There are many choices of foods to choose from in the Food court that can be found in the student center at Colorado State University. The dining services in the dorms are also very good considering the typical myth that dorm food is significantly less appetizing.
What to do for fun Because of it's location in downtown, there are many bars to choose from for the students who are 21 and older. There are also locally owned shops and business to go shopping for the crowd that is under 21. Fort Collins is also known for its extensive cuisine ranging from Thai food to american and Mexican food. For those individuals who enjoy the big city atmosphere, Denver is only about 1 hour away from Fort Collins.
Bang for the buck Definitely. The amount of knowledge and information that will be acquired at CSU is phenomenal. Student fees also pay for the technology and the ability to check out iPads and Laptops from the main library on campus.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities that are available during the school year at CSU are vast and there are many options depending on what individuals prefer.
Greek Life There are many different fraternities and sororities to join as well as multicultural sororities and fraternities.
Campus Safety The campus is very safe and it offers the option of having a public safety officer walk you to your car at night or to the dorms for extra precaution.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Colorado State University is a land-grant research university which means that research activities are used to benefit the community and the world. It is a school offering a variety of majors ranging from Business Administration to Veterinarian Sciences to Fashion Design. With a background in Agricultural development, the university also offers extension programs to benefit the community that surrounds it.
Tips for prospective students Take time to examin the majors offered to match your interests. Finding current students who attend here and pursue similar goals that you may have could be beneficial to get a feel for the programs offered at Colorado State University. Visting the campus is also a good step as well. It will give you a feel for the city's culture a and let you experience the good community that Fort Collins offers.
Academic Rigor Colorado State offers a good challenge in their academic programs, but the challenge varies with colleges and the majors which they offer. All courses of study will offer some challenge, preparing students for the professional working world upon graduation.
Dorm Life The dorm life at Colorado State is good, offering many opportunities to engage in community groups present in the student body. Most rooms are small, but usually will accommodate the needs of one or two students who stay in the rooms. Residence halls also offer laundry services, game areas, and study rooms for students.
Food and Dining The dining centers on campus offer many options for eating including different types of cuisine and multiple locations to eat. The newest dinning centers offer many options, many of which are considered to be the better tasting and more enjoyable atmosphere than older dining centers.
What to do for fun Colorado State offers events for students to get involved and have fun, especially for incoming freshman and transfer students. Dances, game nights, and movie events are common througout the semester and are organized through the housing and dining center on campus. Fort Collins offers many opportunities for fun including hiking, biking, kayaking the Poudre, as well as movie theatres, shopping centers, and family fun centers.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Great school, one of the top three veterinary programs in the country. Carries AFROTC and AROTC scholarships, and is located in a great town. My number one college choice.
Tips for prospective students Keep your grades up, the better your grades the better your chances, and apply to scholarships early on.
Academic Rigor Hard classes, but I like the added difficulty, it helps me to stretch and grow.
Dorm Life Never been, but they look nice and only sharing with one person sounds great.
Food and Dining Never tasted it but there are lots of great restaurants not to far away.
What to do for fun The town is a great place, look around, shop, go to a park, or the library, lots of cool choices.
Bang for the buck Resident Tuition is rather low, for such a great program it is cheap.
Great for these types of students Veterinary Medicine and ROTC scholars. Dedicated to thier choosen careers.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSU is in an amazing place. Fort Collins is one of the best cities to live in for a real college experience. The campus is small enough to walk everywhere and there are enough students to make it feel like you are not in high school.
Tips for prospective students When touring try and come early in the fall or later during the spring semester. Always come while classes are in session because it gives a very different feel to the campus.
Academic Rigor It all depends on what classes you take. I have taken classes that require 12 hours a week outside of class to prep for tests and classes that I don't have to prep for at all.
Dorm Life Great experience. Would not repeat it after freshman year, it gets old and eventually you need your own space.
Food and Dining Pretty much all you can eat all the time, whats not to like. There is also variety, including a Mongolian grill, and different entrees everyday.
What to do for fun The rec center is a great place to go after classes. Whether it is a workout, basketball, swimming or rock climbing it's always a good time.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I feel like there may be many traditions on various other colleges similar but I am not sure so the Undie Run at CSU is always a blast. Donate the clothes you are wearing to charity and go for a jog with a couple thousand other students!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Financial aid information is somewhat vague unless you know the right questions to ask.
Research opportunities are a mystery.
CSU doesn't seem concerned with student retention or with graduation rates.Tips for prospective students Get all the information on financial aid up front. Check your financial aid status a couple of times each semester. There is a lifetime limit on government student loans, and what you are allowed will not cover your tuition and fees through your Bachelor's degree. There are new rules for the Pell Grant, too, and you can only receive it for 6 years. I would suggest a meeting with Financial Services as soon as you start attending, to find out any details about financial aid that you may not know about. Start applying for grants and scholarships soon and often.
There are many websites that give tips on how to get better grades. Utilize them. This school says it has such programs, but the offices that are running such programs, often times say they either don't know about the program, or the program is no longer offered. The few helpful programs they do have, like the Learning Assistance Program, have very long waiting lists.
CSU seems to be more concerned with building a new, on-campus stadium, and recruiting new students, than they are with keeping the students they have.
Last year, the President of CSU, Tony Frank, rolled out a program called Commitment to Colorado. He promised that no student would be turned away from CSU for a lack of financial aid. A few months later, he retracted this statement, and said he was sorry, but some students wouldn't be able to attend CSU (if they couldn't find their own financial aid).
CSU is a research school, but finding research opportunities is a mystery.
If you plan to attend grad school, you have to be selected and financial aid is different. The requirements are still not clear and the information is not widely disseminated.Academic Rigor Academically, CSU is good, but not great. The upper level math classes are taught by upper level students and not professors, which is a shame. In all the other upper level, rigorous classes, professors at least teach the lecture portion of the class, although, often times, a student teaching assistant may teach the lab.
Dorm Life I have never lived in the dorms, so I have no comments to make.
Food and Dining Many choices fast food choices in the dining room at the student center.
What to do for fun CSU is located just a couple blocks from old town Fort Collins, where there are many quaint shops, restaurants and bars. Within a short driving distance, there are mountains, trails, camping, white water rafting, etc. Bicycling is huge in this area.
Bang for the buck The bang for the buck is a little disappointing at this school. The biggest let down has been the lack of concern over retention and graduation rates. CSU seems more interested in recruiting new students than it does with keeping the students they have.
Another let down is that many of the higher level math and science classes are taught by upper level students (teaching assistants). For as much money as we pay for these classes, and as important as they are, I firmly believe they ought to be taught by professors.
Research opportunities also ought to be more apparent and accessible.Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The oval is great. It's a great place for students to study or relax on a nice day.
Great for these types of students This school is best for those students who are just out of high school -- the younger than 25 year old students.
This is not a great school for older, non-traditional students.Campus Safety Campus safety is okay, though there has been a lot of theft and a peeping Tom in the women's locker room at the recreation center (who has never been caught). There was also an armed robbery in one of the parking lots at the center of campus, just a couple months ago.
At the edge of campus and within a small perimeter around campus, things get a little more dangerous. There has been a lot of theft, some violence and quite a few sexual assaults.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSU is diverse. CSU provides many opportunities for students to participate outside of academics. CSU has many great academic programs, so students from anywhere can find something they are interested in and want to study.
Tips for prospective students Don't feel like you have to know what you want to study. CSU allows you to take your time and get your general credits out of the way before you decide what you really want to do.
Get involved. There are so many diverse and amazing groups on campus. Some groups like ROTC and Marching Band actually start before school starts, so you get to start your school year with a ton of new friends. There are also snowboarding groups, clubs for most every major, and peer mentoring groups. There are millions of ways to get involved here.
Study more for your first test! That way, if you do really well on your first test, you might be able to adjust the amount of studying you do for the next ones.Academic Rigor None of the classes here are meant to be a joke. They all require you to think critically and work hard. Some classes have more reading than others. Sometimes you might think you know a subject, so you don't study as much, and then the test kicks your butt. I give CSU a 4 star rating for academic rigor because there are some classes that really are 'easy a' classes.
Dorm Life I lived in the newest dorm, Aspen Hall, for two years. The Academic Village is a great place to live, but all the dorms on campus provide a really great on-campus living experience. The RAs really work hard and put in a lot of time to put on events for the residents. The dorm atmosphere at CSU is really great, and I enjoyed all of my time there.
Food and Dining The food at CSU actually is pretty good. Some of it gets repetitive, but that's what is great about CSU--you can eat at any dining hall on campus and switch it up. CSU's food is definitely not the gross cafeteria food you saw in high school, and it is for sure not the college food your parents tell you about.
What to do for fun Fort Collins is such a great community. Old Town is within walking distance from campus. There are so many great restaurants. Chipper's Bowling Lanes is popular, as is Fort Fun. In terms of on-campus activities, the Rec Center has many awesome classes you can take like yoga or pilates. You can join intramural teams like innertube water polo. The west lawn is also a great place to hang out with friends and play a game of frisbee.
Bang for the buck While you might hear students complaining about what CSU does with their student fees, you really get a good education--which is what you're ultimately paying for. CSU is building new academic facilities. They also just recently renovated our Rec Center, which has a new pool, a hot tub, and a lazy river. While things like this sound like they might be wasting our money, CSU really invests in the student's time here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus One thing that has been catching on is Humans vs Zombies. A whole group gets together and plays this giant game of tag a couple times a semester. It is really fun to get involved with and even just to watch.
Great for these types of students CSU is great for someone who wants to learn but have fun at the same time. So many of our professors here really do care about how their students do. The students just have to show the initiative. There are so many opportunities for students to get involved as well.
Clubs and Activities There are so many things to do here! Honors, Key Academic communities, SnowRiders, any of the bands or choirs, I could keep this list going forever. They get 5 stars just for the sheer variety of things to do outside of school.
Greek Life I am not personally involved with Greek Life, but I do know that it's very popular and the Greek students here at CSU love the groups they are a part of. They gain friends for life and have so much pride in their organizations.
Campus Safety The CSUPD provides SafeWalk, which allows students to call for a CSO and have them escort the students to their location. The CSUPD is the highest paid police force in the state. Our campus is probably one of the safest out there thanks to the Fort Collins PD and the CSUPD.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Colorado State has a beautiful and welcoming campus that is more than helpful with any needs you might have. The classes are big enough to be diverse, but small enough to be able to have one on one time with your professors. Fort Collins has tons of opportunities that you would not be able to recieve elsewhere!
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask questions about anything. There is always someone out there who knows the answer and who is willing to help you out!
Academic Rigor The academic courses at Colorado State are tough, rigorous courses, but with the help of your professors and teacher assistants you are completely capable of passing.
Dorm Life Being a part of the Leadership Development Community has been a wonderful opportunity that I am so thankful I took advantage of. Being a part of something has made me feel welcome and has given me the chance to meet 37 other people who have similar goals as myself.
Food and Dining The dining halls have lots of options for everyone, and are located in easy access areas.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The classes are well put together and interesting. The professors know what they are talking about as well as they develop a personal relationship with the students. The campus is clean, and there are always activities to take part in.
Tips for prospective students On your first day, take a deep breath, you will find all of your classes. Make friends with the people you sit next to in class, they make good study partners! Always ask questions, even if you think they are dumb, someone else is wondering the same thing, guaranteed.
Academic Rigor If you fall behind, you can catch up, but it is a lot of work. Stay on top of your assignments and readings, and you will learn a lot from the professors as well as your fellow students.
Dorm Life Roommates are a great way to meet new people, but you have to be respectful of one another's space. The food is great, and the hallways are always having competitions and activities.
Food and Dining There are many different kinds of food to choose from, and there are even some healthy AND nutritious options.
What to do for fun Olde town is just a short walk from campus, where there are restaurants and shops to go into and explore. Fort Collins itself has the highest number of restaurants per capita in the world, so you will never go hungry and there is always something new to try.
Bang for the buck For each major, there is a computer lab on campus somewhere where student have free printing options for school work, so there is no paying for printing if you plan ahead!
Greek Life There are many different Sororities and Fraternities to choose from.
Campus Safety There is an option called Ram Ride for students to get a ride in a car from a campus police officer if they need to walk somewhere after dark.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences CSU is an absolutely wonderful school that will challenge its students to be their absolute best. I feel like it's so easy to connect with the professors and other students on campus. There is no reason anyone should not feel welcome here!
Tips for prospective students It's definitely a great time being here at CSU, but make sure to keep up on your studies! It's easy to fall behind and you'll regret it!
Academic Rigor I love the atmosphere of the academics here and I haven't met a professor yet that I feel I can not talk to easily.
Dorm Life How exciting can dorm life really be? But in all actuality, CSU isn't bad at all.
What to do for fun There are plenty of attractions in Fort Collins and even more so by being involved in clubs on campus! It really just depends on how busy you want to be.
Bang for the buck College in general is so expensive...eek! But CSU provides opportunity for scholarships which is great. I do wish it was cheaper though. The expense of CSU stresses me out.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is the Sherwood Forest in which every type of tree native to Colorado is planted there with the exception of the Aspen tree. It's quite fascinating seeing all the various trees planted together on campus!
Great for these types of students Anyone who likes being challenged and really working at what they want will love CSU. CSU truly pushes each and every student to be their absolute best.
Clubs and Activities There are so many choices for absolutely everyone! For me personally, they even have Fellowship of Catholic University Students which I love being a part of! You can very easily start your own club if they don't have what you're looking for.
Greek Life I'm not involved here, but I know it's active and growing which is great to see!
Campus Safety The campus feels safe even late at night and there are plenty of resources to make sure it's continually safe!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences colorado state university is a beautiful campus with all types of people. it has great faculty who will help you out with anything you need as long as you just ask. also, there is always something going on whether it's in the dining halls, or student center.
Tips for prospective students apply early. csu is a top rated school and they receive much more applicants than they can admit. also, visit the campus before you commit to make sure it feels right to you. the most important part about picking a college is making sure it's a good match.
Academic Rigor the homework given in college is different than high-school in that it is mostly reading. it takes a lot of effort to read something lengthy and actual process what you have just read. it is also a lot more independent than in high-school and requires you to be self-motivated.
Dorm Life being in the dorms allows you to meet people and get connected with the school better than if you lived off campus your first year. i have met my future roommate thanks to being in the dorms. it also helps a lot with homework because you are just a 10 minute walk at most from the library and any other resource you might need.
Food and Dining like any campus, the dining halls do get boring after eating there all the time. it's good to go off campus occasionally and treat yourself to your favorite restaurant. if you are not an adventurous eater, there is always cereal and pb&j's. they also will provide vegan and vegetarian meals to accommodate everyone. the dining halls do provide you with healthy options however, which will help you to keep off that freshman 15.
What to do for fun there is plenty to do for fun, especially in the city of fort collins. many activities take place on campus almost every day. the dining halls will do special dinners, there's lectures, carnivals, and other events to keep the students occupied. off campus, you can walk around old town, a 10 minute drive from campus, and explore the shops and restaurants on a nice day. horsetooth reservoir is also close by if you would like to go on a hike, or just take a nice drive around the lake.
Bang for the buck while csu is costly, the school provides you with everything you need to be successful academically and socially. the campus is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the professors are excellent. there are many different programs to study and concentrations within those programs to make sure everyone is doing what they enjoy. if this school seems right for you, don't worry about the cost. make sure you are going somewhere you enjoy and studying what you want to.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus before our football game against our rivals, the buffalos at the university of denver, the school puts on a barbecue where any student can get a buffalo burger to get us pumped up for the game.
Great for these types of students if you are outdoorsy, you will enjoy living in fort collins because of all there is to do around town. there is also beautiful scenery to see. there is something to do for most everyone however, and i feel most people would enjoy coming here.
Clubs and Activities while i have not joined a club, i know there are many different ones to join, and it doesn't take that much effort to create one yourself as long as you have others to join you. there are sports clubs to join if you do not wish to try to play at the varsity level and csu generally puts on tournaments for every sport on campus.
Greek Life greek life is very popular here. during rush week, many houses will give away food, clothes, and other gifts in order to entice you to join. it's a great opportunity to do volunteer work as well as getting to know more people and forming a community of your own.
Campus Safety campus safety is amazing. there are call boxes all over campus where an officer will meet you in 90 seconds in case of an emergency. there is also a program called safewalk which allows you to have escorts take you to wherever you need to go on campus if you do not feel safe. we also have a car service thursday, friday, and saturday nights that will pick you up from anywhere in town, no questions asked, and take you safely back to campus or to your house.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences csu is a nice school, but it is nothing too special. the campus is comfortable and easy to navigate, the people are friendly and the academics are moderately challenging. it is a decent school, and nothing more.
Tips for prospective students register for housing as soon as you are accepted. you do not need to commit to the school before you do this which is really nice. also, take several tours around the campus before you make your decision.
Academic Rigor classes are more difficult than high school of course, but there is a multitude of tutoring options available in the tilt building which are very useful.
Dorm Life the dorms are comfortable and homey, and it's just the luck of the draw as to if you will like your hall-mates. i recommend staying in braiden. it is in a great location and has the greatest diversity of people.
Food and Dining the food is decent but there is not too much variation and everything is very processed.
What to do for fun check out alleycat, a 24-hour coffeehouse. old town is a blast with many restaraunt and some cute boutiques. lyric cinema cafe is a great little place with two movie screens that shows various independent films. tuesdays are only $4 for students.
Great for these types of students if you are kind of agriculture-oriented, csu is great for you. i am more of a metropolitan person so it was not a good fit for me.
Greek Life greek life is not a big deal at csu. however, they are involved and friendly and instead of being the stuck-up people of the school, they are all very down-to-earth.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i think that csu is a great school! there are so many fields of study that each have very dedicated and intelligent teachers. there is a great deal of school pride, especially when it comes to our rival with university of colorado!
Tips for prospective students people in fort collins are so nice and colorado is a great place to live.
there is a lot to do around campus, in denver, and the mountains. csu is a great size, not too big, not too small. there are a lot of renovations so everything is going to be very new and high-tech.Academic Rigor it depends on your major, same as any school. it isn't the ivy league but it is still challenging. however, there are a lot of opportunities to unwind after a long school week.
Dorm Life i have lived in the dorms for two years. there are definitely some decent dorms that are well taken care of and comfortable. you just have to apply for housing quickly. my dorm currently is only 6 years old and has air conditioning. there are also some dorms that are being added onto, so there are some newly refurbished rooms. i wish the upper-classmen housing was better though.
Food and Dining the dining halls were much better than i expected. there are a about 5 dining halls and most of them have good food. there are usually a decent amount of meal choices. the meal plans are a little overpriced, but there are a lot of options for number of weekly meals.
What to do for fun i like to walk to old town fort collins. there are a lot of restaurants and some concert halls and shopping. qdoba is also open until 3 am on weekends which is great for late nights with friends. movie theaters are also very cheap in the fort collins area.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences in general, csu is very welcoming and the professors seem to be more than willing to help students after class. the atmosphere is very encouraging and most of the students aren't as rude as one would think. dorm life can be tough though; choose a roommate well and steer clear of the troublemakers because the ra's will find out of any bad doings and will be suspicious of you from that moment on.
Tips for prospective students don't be afraid to ask questions. i can't stress how often professors have mentioned that they are free after class yet students don't stop by. often times, a professor will give you study guides or previous tests to study from if you just take some time to go ask for help. class sizes for prerequisites can be very large; sit in the front and try to talk to the teacher. teacher's pets may be despised but it's well worth it. they're more willing to help you if they know you. don't be just a number as it was put to me once. above all else, take advantage of the rec center and of all the various programs and activities csu offers. don't just go to class and then come back to study.
Academic Rigor honestly, i feel as if the classes aren't too incredibly difficult. enjoy your stay in fort collins, but don't forget to study. study everyday for each class about 30 minutes to an hour right after class while its still fresh. start studying for any test the week in advance and you should be prepared.
Dorm Life dorm life was very memorable for me. my floor was rather close. with this closeness came all the drama of life but also i made good friends with whom i still talk to. it can be easy to be sucked into the bad crowd, because you do have the cliques typical when groups of people come together semi-permanently. it is a taste of what it's like to be on your own as an adult. i recommend living in a dorm to anyone, even if your family is in town or close by.
Food and Dining beware of college food. its easy to eat unhealthily. while they do supply some healthy food, its very tempting to eat that slice of pizza right next to the salad bar. for the most part, certain dining halls will have the same thing everyday. there are some places like durrell and corbett that change their food daily however. it can get quite boring eating the same things over and over tho, so eating out occasionally is a suggestion.
What to do for fun your options for entertainment are always varied. for exercise, the rec center is fantastic. it features a full aerobic gym, weight lifting, a track, a pool, sauna, steam room, wall climbing, along with group sessions daily for various things as well as a massage area (which costs you money, but is very much worth it). there are also always the groups you can join. they have numerous groups for things from jazz dancing to computer animation. almost literally anything you could think of. there are things out in town you can do, but generally you'll need a car. the main exception to this is if you're willing to walk to old town; this is a part of town aptly named which consists of numerous shops and places to eat.
Bang for the buck i would not suggest anyone coming from out of state, as i have had this problem myself. it is a good school and provides lots of opportunities, but unless you can be absolutely positive that tuition will be paid for, then i suggest going to a community college first and applying for residency. out of state tuition will run in the forty thousand range while in state is about seven to ten. the education is very thorough and the other amenities such as the rec center and the pace center, which helps students with studying, are very much appreciated and well worth your money.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus in front of aylesworth there is a large concrete block just off the sidewalk. the top of it is metal and for some reason it is always rather warm. during the cold winter months, this is a great place to stop and hang out or seek peace in solitude .
Great for these types of students csu is great for people who are willing to do what it takes. teachers will leave you behind if they know you aren't giving your all. and the pace is fast. curriculum changes weekly and doesn't always build on what was thought the week before. but if you can deal with this and make time for friends and yourself, csu is perfect for you.
Clubs and Activities csu is very versatile in their range of clubs and activities. this college is extremely accepting of races, religions, and sexuality. they have clubs and even sections of campus sanctioned each. almost anything you can think of, csu has a club for it; if it doesn't, you can petition to start your own. you can find anything from an out of state group to even a quidditch team.
Greek Life greek life seems to be very valued at csu. most members seem very welcoming and initiations seem to go smoothly and fairly.
Campus Safety my experience at csu was great. in the dorms, you have the ra's and a cop that patrols each dorm. there is a number you can call from anywhere on campus to where a cop can reach you, one specified for night. you have ramride which will take you home at night if you ever need a ride and don't feel safe walking. also, you can call a certain number and a cop will be directed to you who will escort you home personally. it is a bit scary walking around at night by yourself, i wont lie. but nothing ever seems to happen. all in all, it seems to be a very safe campus with the students in first place.

What to do for fun there are so many different activities available for csu students here in fort collins. almost everything is walking distance - from old town, to the bowling alley, and the movie theaters. not to mention the activities on campus scheduled for students such as movie events, guest speakers, hall and group activities planned, and so much more.
