    Will learn a lot

Knowing it has the medical field that I want to get into it's great also knwoing that it's close to home that way I can also rent a place for a while and for the holidays it can be easy to go back home.

    Will enjoy being here

I am really looking forward to attending this college. Knowing I will be the first one going to college out of my whole family it feels so great.

    Bang for the buck

Hopefully I get scholarships that way it can pay for my college. I did work but for right now I have to focus on school which obviously its way more important.

    Will learn a lot

Columbia Basin is a school where there aren't so many students in a classroom that they can actually learn your name. I feel the smaller the classroom size the easier it is to learn. There are less distractions.

    Will enjoy being here

When I went to visit the campus I got a tour by two people currently attending the school. As i got the tour and learn about the school everyone was very friendly. They're also very passionate about their sports and activites.

    Bang for the buck

I'm from california and out of state tution isn't that much. Out of state tution is almost the same tution as california community college!!!

Great for these types of students

Great for students who come from a small community.

    Am learning a lot

I'm a new student at Columbia Basin College. I am learning a lot. There are many different programs at CBC. I’m leaning toward the internet specialist degree in the computer science program.

    Am enjoying being here

I have been very happy so far. It is a small school. Because it is smaller than a university, I think it helps the transition into college life. The teachers I’ve had so far have been welcoming and helpful.

    Bang for the buck

Admission was not expensive. There was a $29 application fee. Then you have to take a placement test called the COMPASS test, which has a $50 fee. The cost of attending CBC is more affordable than a university. It costs around $1000 per quarter, depending on how many credits you take. I am able to drive there from home and not have to pay additional housing costs.

    Tips for prospective students

You can register and pay for your classes online. You can even order your books from the bookstore online and they’ll hold them for you. After you sign up for classes, you have to take an FYI class before you begin. It’s a three hour class, three days in a row. You learn about educational planning, take a campus tour, and learn how to use ANGEL, which is an online program used to communicate with your teachers and check your grades.

Great for these types of students

CBC is great for people wanting to save money, people with not perfect academic records, and people wanting to ease into college life.

Columbia Basin College is a great start off school to attend if you are looking to get a great education for the lowest amount of money spent on tuition. It's known just to get a two year degree, but has progressed to offering their first Undergraduate program in Applied Science and Applied management for an affordable price. CBC has great faculty and advisers because they actually care about the students future and try anything they can to fulfill the students dream.

    Tips for prospective students

Suggestions about CBC is go and inform yourself about different types of scholarships and programs that are helpful to accomplishing your goals. CBC has a lot of resources that are not taken advantage of because students do not seek for that help. They are willing to help the student.

    Academic Rigor

The professors at CBC have a connection with the students that maybe no other college may have due to small class sizes, compared to a different institution you have that one on one talk with your professor and they are very accessible and work around your schedule just so they can meet with you. All departments at CBC are top notch compared to other community colleges because they hire professors that actually care about the subject they teach.

    Dorm Life

As of right now CBC does not offer dorms, but they are willing to help and seek for housing around the area that is affordable.

    Food and Dining

We have the Hawk Union Building also known as the HUB, which has a cafeteria and a store that offers espresso and many different food types such as breakfast and lunch. The food here is kind of pricey, but you will get your moneys worth.

    What to do for fun

CBC is located in Pasco Washington and there are many fun things to do such as bowling, movie theater, laser tag, paint balling, there are about 10 different local parks that you can just go ride your bike or hang out with friends.

    Bang for the buck

CBC offers a lot of school activities that are fun for the students, we have movie nights at cbc, they also rent out ice rinks so that CBC students can skate free, we also have comedians that come each year and perform at the HUB, we also offer Casino nights (monopoly money) that bring out the best dealers in town for a night and we also offer sports activities.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Every year at the HUB we have a cultural event that takes place in which different people from different cultures bring food and dance and just have a great time. The 2 years at CBC i have been here, I've gone each year and they are a blast.

Great for these types of students

If you are looking for a place where its peaceful, adventurous, full of life and are seeking to accomplish a lot, CBC is the right place for you

    Clubs and Activities

We offer a variety of clubs, most important though CBC is very open about making your own club as long as its a legitimate purpose and they help you out in creating your own club, so do not be afraid to ask.

    Greek Life

We do not offer a greek life at CBC

    Campus Safety

CBC promotes campus safety strongly and they are up to date about what is happening in and around the campus. Our institution offers updates via text messaging, so whenever there is a school closure, sex offender notice, incidents, etc. they notify as soon as possible. As a student I feel safe being at CBC

good school for students stuck in eastern washington, good choice of programs, and decent financial aid opportunities. no over-sized classes, you can actually get to know your professors and teachers.

    Tips for prospective students

financial aid office does not flat-out tell you what you need to do: part of college is figuring that out on your own. vigilance! and parking before 11am is almost impossible to find. make sure you leave 30+ minutes early for those first couple weeks.

    Academic Rigor

it is possible to float your way through almost any class, except for math and sciences.

    Dorm Life

no dorms and would not recommend living nearby. apartments in the tri-cities are almost as high as the seattle area.

    Food and Dining

there is a cafe-style eatery on campus with decent, reasonably priced food and a limited menu. a 5-10 minute drive is required for a few more options, i.e. fast food.

    What to do for fun

try to determine which teachers harbor feelings of bitterness towards administration from simply listening to their lectures. oh, and get a friend with a boat because the river is amazing.

    Bang for the buck

about $1500 a quarter, before paying for books. considering there are not really any other choices in the area, it's a good deal. if you're willing to move there are financial aid transfer options that make even an out-of-state college just as/more reasonably priced, too.

Great for these types of students

students from eastern washington or used to small towns, transfer students, first-time college students.

    Campus Safety

people like to speed on campus but do yield to pedestrians, sidewalks are kept relatively clear. there have been notices about car theft/prowling on campus.

there really isn't any real places to get food. just snack like stuff.
