    Am learning a lot

The professors know what they are teaching for the most part. Many of the professors have PhDs so that is a definite plus.

    Am enjoying being here

You have to be able to handle living in a small town with not much to do. There is a lot of stuff to do on campus and its easy to come up with things to do.

    Bang for the buck

I'm an out-of-stater and it is very affordable especially if you are from Pennsylvania. The education that you receive is what you expect from a state university, not the greatest but still very good.

    Tips for prospective students

The Highlands are a great place to live in and you meet tons of people that way as long as you keep your door open! Edinboro is extremely easy to get into and Edinboro gets tons of snow in the winter but that makes it more fun! There are lots of handicapped students there as well.

Great for these types of students

Edinboro is acclaimed for its accommodations for students with disabilities. Everything is handicap accessible. There is a great nursing program and the speech and hearing sciences programs as well.

The general education classes can be on the bigger side, but for you core classes that are about you major they are small class sizes so that you can work one on one with your teacher. All teachers are willing to work with you and the school has tutoring for every class that is offered.

    Am enjoying being here

Its a small town, so you can basically walk everywhere and where you can not walk to the school has a shuttle program set up to take you and drop you off.

    Bang for the buck

It has very cheap tuition, and there is a lot of money saving things on campus, like the free movie theater that has different movies each week, their are two galleries on campus and you can rent rollarblades and bikes with your student ID.

    Tips for prospective students

I would suggest leaving your car at home unless you have a vehicle with 4 wheel drive, the roads get pretty bad and unless you know how to drive on the snow/ice, you should really stick to walking.

The professors at Edinboro University are insightful. They provide a learning experience that surpasses many other universities in quality. Picking the right college with the right professors is critical for any student wishing to achieve success, and Edinboro University has been the right choice for me. I have attended many classes where my initial thought was, How am I ever going to learn such difficult concepts? The professors made the material digestible and I comprehended everything just fine. However, as with all colleges, there are a few professors that use difficult teaching methods that vary from the norm. If you dislike the way a professor teaches, you have a select amount of time to drop the course without penalty and are able to be placed with a different professor.

    Am enjoying being here

Besides the stellar education that this university provides, Edinboro University is a great community where everyone seems to fit in and make friends. Whether it be walking to Pizza Hut or one of the many specialty shops, there is always something to keep you occupied. Edinboro has changed the way I thought about college. It has made me realize that college is not just about learning (although that is a great deal of it!); it is also about making lifelong friends.

    Bang for the buck

My family is upper middle class and the pricing for this university fit us perfectly. The education is more than I could ever ask for and the overall experience that Edinboro University creates is outstanding. The university takes into account any complaints or suggestions that students may have and develop the proper accommodations.

    Tips for prospective students

Oh, no! Up late? Super hungry? No food in your dorm? John's Wildwood Pizzeria has got your covered. They are open late, reasonably priced, delicious, and they deliver.
When you're scheduling for classes, be sure to schedule promptly and on time because seats generally fill up fast.
Have an updated bus schedule on hand because it is always a nice feeling to know that the bus is stopping at the building where you're having your next class.

Great for these types of students

Edinboro caters to a variety students, most notably are the following: liberal arts majors, education majors, low to middle income students, disabled students, and those after a valuable education.

I have been pulling my hair out trying to find an affordable college, and here it is. Edinboro is completely affordable for the average middle class family.

This college is amazing!! I am learning so much by attending here and feel myself shaping into the person I want to be. The classes are great and the teachers that I have taken so far have been wonderful overall.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to check into every area of housing on campus before choosing one. If you decide to stay on campus they will make you stay for two years whether you like it or not. Also, if you want to succeed, during your freshman year really mold your academic life. By that I mean get into the habit of studying and taking time to do well. There is time to do stuff for classes and have a good social life.

    Academic Rigor

Some classes can be very difficult and require the time and effort. Just pay attention and actually try by studying and reading the text and it will be well worth it in the end.

    Dorm Life

I have enjoyed the dorm life at Edinboro so far. It can be noisy and sometimes there are problems with neighbors but overall it is a really good experience. It is great to be able to meet other people. I have made so many great friends from staying in the dorms.

    Food and Dining

There is hardly anything healthy on this campus. Most of it is fried and greasy food. It is good, but after a while it does make you feel sick and unhealthy.

    What to do for fun

There are many things to do for fun on campus. There is a fitness center, a game room, many pool tables scattered throughout the campus, and many activities provided by the RA's and other people. There is always something to do. Even simple walks around campus can be nice since the area is so beautiful.

    Clubs and Activities

There are tons of clubs and activities to choose from.

    Greek Life

Greek life can be a little crazy here, as I am sure it is everywhere. Most of Greek life is nice and welcoming. If that is what you seek in a college then Edinboro has a great selection.

    Campus Safety

The campus is pretty safe. Hardly anything bad ever happens here.

Edinboro University's Campus is very easy to navigate through and the resources available to the students, including the student center and library, are very useful indeed. Edinboro University offers many many programs for incoming students but the teaching, art, and music programs are probably the university's greatest assets. And finally Edinboro is in a great location, is it right next to a little town that has almost anything you need and whatever it doesn't have is easily found at the nearby Walmart which is only a bus ride away.

    Tips for prospective students

Come here knowing what you want to do. I know deciding what one wants to do with the rest of your life is difficult right out of high school but try and come here with a bit of a direction. especially if you are an incoming art student. Candidacy could be an issue if you are unsure, but no need to fret. Make sure you sign up for cheap housing and a meal plan that won't break the bank ha-ha!

    Academic Rigor

My first year, there wasn't one class i had particular difficulty with, except maybe math class but hey who doesn't now and again? And don't come to college thinking it's just a piece of cake because you still gotta work like in high school except work a tad harder to get where you need to go. The professors I've had the pleasure of meeting have all been nice and helpful when i needed it.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life is pretty sweet if I do say so myself. The new highlands buildings are a decent place to live and even the older housing buildings are in good shape. I have no complaints about the living arrangements. If you can afford to, i would suggest getting your own room in the highlands buildings just because the privacy is nice but If you can't then find a sweet kid to be your roommate.

    Food and Dining

The food and dining options at Edinboro are pretty great. I mean ya got healthy choices including Salads, Wraps, and Soups or Pizzas, Pastas, and Calzones If You're feeling a bit adventurous. There is also the Big Dining hall on campus which offers an array of foods for the starving student. There are 3 places on campus in which students can dine and i would suggest trying all 3 and deciding what is best for you because only you can know what you like.

    What to do for fun

There are many clubs on campus that students can get involved with and be a part of, but if that ain't your scene then there is plenty of places to walk around campus. Also there is a cafe that has wifi and televisions for relaxing. Students can work out and get fit in the fully equipped gym located right on campus or even go the student theater and watch a movie right before it comes out on DVD. Best part is the movies are free!

    Bang for the buck

I would say that Edinboro is definitely a school to consider if money is an issue when it comes to higher education. I would be cautious of signing up for expensive housing though. If you can avoid the highlands, by all means do it. Not because they aren't a nice place to live but because they are expensive. And tread caution when signing up for a meal plan because whatever meals you don't use that money goes right into the University's pocket!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

All over campus there are pieces of art or sculptures from graduates that have come and gone from Edinboro and they are odd and interesting pieces indeed. And Edinboro University showcases a lot involving Scottish heritage, after all the football team is called the Fighting Scots!

Great for these types of students

I would say that Edinboro is great for Art students cause the programs are so involved and hands on, being an art student I am speaking honestly! But don't let that discourage anyone! I would recommend this University to all Students! The programs are great and the cost is pretty cheap compared to a lot of other places. And let's face it, school ain't cheap.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a ton of clubs on campus, especially in the art department but don't worry if that's not your major, join anyway! There is also a very active GLBTQIA club that takes trips and goes to lectures quite often. There is a huge club rush at the beginning of the Fall semesters where new and returning students can get them out!

    Greek Life

I can't say too much about the Greek Life on campus because I am not part of any fraternity but it seems to be a thrill ride. A few friends of mine are a part of it and seem to have such a great time.

    Campus Safety

There are Campus police that are right on campus and patrol throughout the night to ensure student safety and regulations. Also there are emergency phones and call buttons located all over campus. Spotting them is easy as well because the lampposts they are attached to light up with a blue light. I have never been worried for my safety whilst on campus.

It has a beautiful campus. There is very little communication on campus between the different offices. There is very little scholarship money.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply for as many scholarships in your hometown as possible. Before you apply, make sure you are 100% certain the college you are applying to is where you want to go.

    Academic Rigor

The academic toughness is based upon what your major is. All of the classes offered are good classes and will help you with your major, but the required classes that every major has to take are annoying and painfully slow.

    Dorm Life

I live in a dorm complexed called Highlands. Living in Highlands is nice, but if you are planning on attending the college, and you fill out the paper that asks who you would like to live with on campus if you know anyone who goes to Edinboro, most of the time, you don't get to live with that person. My experiences with roommates has not been good and I've had to move out of my room twice because my roommates did not like me and threw parties everyday to make me mad.

    Food and Dining

There are about seven places on campus to get food, so there are always options. The food is good and it is always changing so you can never get bored with it.

    What to do for fun

You can always go bowling at the bowling alley down the street or go and get Chinese with friends at Main Moon or Oceans Buffet. Most people prefer going with friends into Erie and spending the day at the mall because it is only 20 minutes away.

    Bang for the buck

Very little money is offered to students in scholarships.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There are none that I know of.

Great for these types of students

We have a really good nursing, education and art program.

    Clubs and Activities

There are hundreds of clubs on campus and there are a lot of sports too.

    Greek Life

I know very little about Greek life because I do not participate in it.

    Campus Safety

There are blue lights, which are emergency lights, located everywhere around campus and we have police that stay on campus and are always there to help.

Just from my visits to the college i love it. The campus is not to big and not to small. I also love the housing that is what really hooked me.

    Tips for prospective students

In my opinion prospective students should really look at the college and visit to see if it is right for them i know it was perfect for me price wise and distance.

    Academic Rigor

I love the acedemics up there it is to the point where it is not really hard but you will have to work it's not a push over.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are amazing. Edinboro has amazing dorms that will make you feel as if you were just living in a upscale apartment.

    Food and Dining

If you are a person who need good food to eat while in college Edinboro is the place. they have multiple place to dine and it also has a nutrition list on the website so if you want to eat healthy.

    What to do for fun

I have not been up there long enough to roam around and see whats all around to do but i know if you do sports or get a job you'll be busy.

The work isn't that hard. It snows a lot. The housing is nice.

    Tips for prospective students

Prepare for snow. Try buying books online because it'll probably be cheaper.

    Academic Rigor

As long as you try, the work isn't going to be all that hard.

    Dorm Life

The Highlands are nice, but if you want traditional, go with Dearborne or Erp because they are just as nice. I wouldn't recommend Rose or Towers if you can help it.

    Food and Dining

Van Houton is all you can eat. Wow is open until midnight. Rose has the best food.

    What to do for fun

The student center always has some sort of event going on. There's also a game room in the student center. Check with your RA for upcoming events.

    Bang for the buck

The Highlands are really expensive. I wouldn't recommend them if you're trying to save money. You will have to take out a loan no matter what.

Great for these types of students

There are more than enough elevators and walkways for handicap-able students.

The campus is beautiful and the perfect size. However the weather can be terrible. The college offers smaller class sizes for a better atmosphere, easier learning, and more one on one, which is a huge plus.

    Tips for prospective students

As a upcoming student I wouldn't forget my rain jacket, rain boots, hats, and gloves. The weather here can be very bipolar, which makes for a miserable journey to class. Don't miss out on the campus sporting events or offers. The campus may be small and not a ton to do, but if you get active and join clubs, take advantage of trips, go to comedians and shows, you will enjoy your experience.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are like any other school. Some classes can be a challenge but some classes can be really easy also. It truly depends on your major and the courses you take.

    Dorm Life

The dorms are very social. I live in the traditional dorms and i have met a ton of people because of it. Everyone leaves their doors open and blasts music. The highlands are a little bit more unsocial but much nicer to live in. My suggestion is to live in traditional the first year then move to the highlands once you made friends.

    Food and Dining

The food services here are great. First coming to college you may get sick due to the change in food preparation and options, however once your body gets use to it, the food isn't terrible. I prefer our food courts and little deli rather than our dining hall.

    What to do for fun

Honestly, the campus can be very boring at times. Most of the time kids just hang out with their friends and watch movies or go out and party. There aren't a ton of activities to participate in on a normal weekend or weekday. The campus is dry as well.

    Bang for the buck

Edinboro is one of the cheapest schools of the area. They are also a D1 wrestling school which houses some really great sporting events. The teachers tell you not to buy the book if they aren't going to use them. Edinboro understands that college cost a ton and wants to do everything it can to reduce that fee for us.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Edinboro is a Scottish based school. It isn't weird to see someone wearing a kilt or hear a bagpipe being played. The homecoming is a huge tradition on campus. The whole campus is filled for the weekend. There is a ton to do on campus during that weekend.

Great for these types of students

Edinboro is a huge handicap school. People with disabilities or mental illness are very welcomed on campus, especially in the classroom. Also, people that like to meet new and friendly faces. I have never had a bad interaction with a professor or student. Everyone on campus is so friendly and inviting that it makes it easy to meet new people and form new relationships.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a ton of clubs and activities for the student body to participate in. I actually suggest it. Edinboro can get kind of boring especially if you aren't big on parting. Joining a club is a great way to meet new friends and share a personal interest. There are clubs for almost everything, and if there isn't you are able to start one.

    Greek Life

The Greek life on campus does a lot of different activities that you will see all over campus, especially in the first semester. They really try to reach out to the community of students and bring activities for us to do.

    Campus Safety

I have never had an issue on this campus with safety. When the weather gets bad during the winter, the side walks are a little slippery, but that is to be expected. There are cops patrolling all the time and you never feel scared to walk alone at any time of the day.

Great for any student. It is truly a well rounded campus.

    Am learning a lot

I am definitely learning a lot of new information in every class. I like most of my teachers, and they're pretty reasonable.

    Am enjoying being here

There's a lot of stuff to do here, if you look for it. A lot of activities are free, like the SGA game room, the movie theater (popcorn is a quarter), zumba, yoga, clubs, and other campus activities. The bus is free with your college ID so you can get around campus and go to Erie. There are some cool places in town too, like Earthshine and John's Wildwood Pizza. A lot of people go home on the weekends, but I heard more people stay on campus when it starts to snow and such.

    Bang for the buck

Edinboro's a state school, so you're already saving money. This is especially true if you are a PA resident. I am not eligible for financial aid, so this school is pretty close to my price range. Just be careful when buying drinks outside Van Houten (the buffet style place) because pepsi products are not covered on the meal plan and you could accidentally deplete your flex (your extra cash on your ID). I also recommend traditional housing over the Highlands. Earp and Dearborn are built a lot better, and my floor actually is a community. It's cheaper, and in some cases, our bathrooms are cleaner. Also, they told me that if I visited Edinboro, they would waive my application fee.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early even if you're not sure if you want to go here or not yet, especially if they waive your application fee. Also, try to get your housing contract in as soon as possible. I specifically wanted to live on the Honors Living Learning floor, so I sent mine in within a week. Leave your door open when you can so that you can get to know your neighbors. During freshmen common hour, they will encourage you to meet your advisor before you have to find him or her for registration down the line. Do it. Make sure you show up for class as much as possible, because a lot of my teachers will start lowering your grade if you miss more than three days. If you have any AP or College in High School credits, make sure you have them sent in as soon as possible, as in the beginning of summer.

Great for these types of students

This school is very well set up for handicapped students. There are also great programs for nursing, teaching, and a fairly large art program. The Edinboro art department is set up so your portfolio review is during your sophomore year (called candidacy). This levels the playing field because no two high school art programs are the same. EUP is not located in a city, so it's pretty quiet around here. If you can't afford a private college but don't want to go to community college, try Edinboro out. Great things happen here!
