Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Registration dates and class schedules are on the website. Show up early for registration. Show up early if you need to use the advising center. New students MUST use the advising center to sign up for classes, so go early in the morning and expect a little bit of a wait. If you are applying to the Nursing program, read everything given to you. It's a very competitive program, so be prepared to make all A's and B's and be serious about school.
Great for these types of students This school is great for people Just out of high school, people who have been to college and now want to come back for another degree or just to take a class, the older aspiring students. It's pretty user friendly once you get the whole applying, registering, testing, going to class thing down. I've been away from college for only about 4 years, so I kinda got right back into the swing of things quickly.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I thought when someone started college, they would just be considered as a number, even in a community college. But at El Centro I've had the pleasure to know teachers that really do care for your success and help you get to where you need to be. I've learned a lot, from management skills to how the human anatomy works. I've grown both academically and emotionally being at this community college.
Am enjoying being here I've never had any teachers that I've had problems with. Yes, every teacher has a different personality, but if you work with them and actually strive to learn and pass, you can accomplish it. The hallways and buildings aren't crowded, which is a great plus for me.
Tips for prospective students Do not think that college is going to be just like high school but also don't think that college is difficult and impossible. There are so many resources offered at this college if you are struggling or just need some help in counseling or tough classes. Some good programs are Rising Star, Dual Credit, Financial Aid, The Learning Center (free tutoring) and TRIO. For example, TRIO helps you with Tutoring, Advising, Financial Aid, Transfer planning, Workshops, Field trips, Career Counseling and even textbook lending.
Great for these types of students I think El Centro is great for anyone, really. But mainly students who just came out of high school and adults who haven't been in school in a while and have a family or other things going on. El Centro is really diverse in ages, so returning adults won't be out of place in a classroom. You don't even have to know how to drive to get to El Centro! If you take 6 credit hrs in spring/fall or 3 credit hrs in summer, you receive a FREE DART pass. It's a great place for art students and has a great competitive program for nurses.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences if you want a school where you can get a good education for a reasonable price, go to el centro. a lot of the teachers are very good at being there when the students need assistance.
Tips for prospective students don't be afraid to ask questions of your professors. they are there to help you and don't leave you backpacks unattended because they might be snatched.
Academic Rigor a lot of the teachers are very friendly! i promise you that a lot of the time, you will run into your teacher outside of class. i should know - i took a basic animation class with don and now i see him everywhere! it is a challenging school that definitely makes it worth the 135 you have to pay.
Dorm Life there are no dorms.
Food and Dining inside el centro there is only subway, but around it there are a lot of eating places. go there enough and they will recognize you, keep going and you'll be able to get an el centro discount, and then finally become a regular and you'll notice that some of the people go to school with you. it's a very friendly community(food wise)
What to do for fun there are a lot of events at el centro, but i did not attend many. i created a strong group of friends and we kind of settled into the second floor circular corner. so therefore, most events seemed to be worthless compared to the many fond memories we shared.
Bang for the buck definitely worth it! it will be an even better experience if you research what teachers you want before getting them. for example, there's an english teacher who is really tough but i promise you, you'll learn a lot. on the other hand, there's a philosophy teacher who is very dedicated to his students and is incredibly intelligent. so there really aren't any bad teachers, just a different teaching style for a lot of them.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus most of the time, you'll find people hanging out on the 2nd floor. so if you're a new student, chill there for a few days and i promise someone will notice and speak to you. other than that, there are a number of places people end up missing because they don't explore those areas like: the 3rd floor roof, the basement that holds most of the artistic types, the other building where mainly art students reside, and an outside staircase that leads up to the 3rd floor without any traffic.
Great for these types of students listen to me: if you have just gotten out of high school yet aren't sure of what university to go to, go to a community college. this school is good for students who've just graduated high school, want to continue their education, or want to get core classes out of the way for a cheap price.
Clubs and Activities as i said before, i didn't attend very many events. however i did attend a few club meetings. there is the government clubs(socialist, republican, democrat) and in there are very strong minded people. if you want to meet someone who understands your political beliefs then join one of them, however be warned they are a group of tight people so insult one of them, and you insult the whole. then there is the anime club, but i don't think it is very active.
Greek Life none that i know of. although i know there are greek clubs and such, but i wasn't involved in it.
Campus Safety there are a lot of police on campus so there is very little serious crime, but the often complained about stealing issue is definitely something to be concerned about.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Great school. Great atmosphere. Some of the best professors who prepare you for real life scenarios.
Tips for prospective students Start as early as possible and research and become familiar with your academic advisor and financial aid counselor.
Academic Rigor Study and stay focused and on your bad days just ask for help from another student or your professor.
Dorm Life No dorm campus available. Most students commute and live at home.
Bang for the buck Great education for 10% of the cost of a university. I always advise others to get their basics at community college first before they go on the the university unless you have a full scholarship.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus none
Great for these types of students working students or students that are not quite ready for university life... or students on a budget.
Clubs and Activities none
Greek Life none
Campus Safety no problems that i know of.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences El Centro College is a very great college for students to learn and enjoy themselves in class and out of class. It give students the opportunity to pass and give them as much tutoring as possible. Most of the teachers are great and breaks the work down in order for students to understand, and also takes there time.
Tips for prospective students My tip for students is do not follow behind others if they do not want to learn because its you who have to graduate. Also, never quit just sit calm and do as much studying as you can in order to pass your classes.
Dorm Life El Centro doesn't have any dorm rooms.
Food and Dining The food at El Centro is great, we have a subway and since our campus in Downtown we have other offers to eat at.
What to do for fun In order to have fun all there to is have as many friends as you can. And if there is any sports and activities you can attend those or join them.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The campus really isn't diverse with race. Everyone has as much fun with each other.
Clubs and Activities There's basketball, cheerleading, and many activities you can join and if you have an activity or sport they don't have you can join a group of others and talk to an advisor to start the activity or sport you wish to have.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences El Centro College is one of many other DCCCD Community Colleges. It offers great programs and well experienced proffesors. Its a great college in order to start your career. And very fun also!
Tips for prospective students There's great proffessors on campus, it is like if you attended the same high school you graduate because you get to see many old faces from your previous alumni from high school.
Academic Rigor El centro is just the best!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I've enjoyed this college experience. I received a certification my first semester. The staff is nice as well!
Tips for prospective students Go to Registration first to learn all documents you may need, if you're confident you have those documents, then the next step would be to go Academic Advisement, especially if you're undecided about your major. These two offices are right across the hall from each other. Last place, of course, is Financial Aid!
Dorm Life There isn't a dorm, BUT there are apartments all over the metroplex who will give a discount just for being an DCCCD (El Centro, or the other campuses) student.
Food and Dining There's a Subway at the school. That's it. There's also two McDonalds, on a block in opposite directions from the school. But it's Dallas, so as soon as you step outside the school, you'll be ready to figure out where you want to eat.
What to do for fun The A/V lounge, the Student Center, the Circle are the main hangouts. There are other places as well, these are just the main spots.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus You may never know it, but there is a ninth floor. There's only one elevator, and one tiny staircase!
Great for these types of students Social students, Fashion majors, technology majors, and culinary majors
Clubs and Activities There are LOTS of clubs, too many to list, but the main organization is PTK.
Campus Safety El Centro has it's own campus police, with a station in the school. With collaberations between Dallas Police AND DART (our public transit)police, and these two law agencies being in very close proximity to the school, and requested escort to your vehicle, these guys are very dedicated to your safety!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the college has a great variety of classes and knowledgeable professors. the classes are also at a great price and very informative. the college is also very accessible with different forms of transportation.
Tips for prospective students an important tip for prospective students is to send in your information as early as possible because there are more delays than one would expect. make sure to register for classes early on since there is limited space. and if commuting make sure to depart at least 30 minutes before class starts because of traffic.
Academic Rigor the classes require one to study in order to receive an excellent grade. there is also a lot of engaging activities that are outside of class. but overall are on a medium difficulty with some exceptions.
Dorm Life unfortunately, there are no dorms offered by the school so a student must rent out an apartment but at least there is a lot of space in downtown dallas.
Food and Dining since the college is located in downtown dallas, there is a wide variety of dining options. there is also exceptional ethnic food all over dallas.
What to do for fun there are a lot of options to do along with the annual texas state fair and very entertaining parades all year round.
Bang for the buck the classes are incredibly affordable.
