Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This school involves so much more beyond the classroom. You learn not only what your intended major requires but you also learn valuable life skills. Furthermore, you learn to react with a variety of different people and races which will also help in life.
Am enjoying being here Yes I absolutely love it here. The landscape is beautiful. The people are friendly. There is always something fun happening. The residence halls are very lovely even the old ones.
Bang for the buck It is worth every penny to go to MSU. I believe that anyone could love it here, and it is very affordable.
Tips for prospective students Definitely a good place for prospective students. There are people here with future job connections and Graduate student opportunities that shall be very helpful. Also there are various jobs on campus that can build your resume for the future.
Great for these types of students If you love to learn and have fun at the same time. MSU is definitely for you. There is a place to fit in for everyone.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot MSU is a land grant institution that has an excellent Veterinary Medicine Program. A hidden gold mine as compared to other SEC (Southeastern Conference) schools that offer specified studies in Veterinary Medicine/Animal Science.
Am enjoying being here Absolutely, I could not have chosen a better institution. For a public school this size, one would assume that you would get lost in the crowd however, that is not the case here at MSU!!!!
Bang for the buck Tuition is a little steep for those out of state residents coming to this public university. I wish the cost were a lot less and did not include an out-of-state additional charge.
Tips for prospective students Visit the school in your Junior/Senior year of high school. Note that the school is in Starkville, MS which is NOT a huge Metropolis. Research all available college options before coming to MSU, because once your here....We've Got You!!!!!
Great for these types of students Students that love a large campus with a lot of open space, green grounds, loving/family atmosphere and wonderful extra-curricular options.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Mississippi State offers so many chances to learn in many different ways. They host eight colleges, alone, each carrying multiple schools and majors. Take a look for yourself: http://www.msstate.edu/web/colleges.php
The classes here really are great. Once you get past your core requirements and get to your major classes, it's a blast! The teachers are what make a lot of the classes interesting. They don't drone and make it fun to learn.Am enjoying being here Being at Mississippi State is quite relaxing to me. The campus is so beautiful it's hard to stay stressed when you walk outside. As an architecture student, I'm cooped-up in the arch. building all the time, but I all I have to do to relax is take a step outside.
Something I really love about this school is the sense of school pride you feel wherever you go. The people here love their school! It shows in everyone. Our sports are great, too! We aren't perfect, but I feel like we're on our way!
The dorms here are pretty nice no matter where you are. Yes, there are older ones and newer ones, but none that are completely horrible or falling apart!
So many people think there is nothing to do in Starkvegas, but really, something is always going on somewhere. You just have to be willing to look! There's a movie theater, bowling, awesome restaurants, shopping, and tons of stuff to do on campus! It really is a great place to be!Bang for the buck The facilities here are great! We have a huge gym that has so many activities all the time. There are free classes and some things you pay a small amount to do extra. They go climbing, hiking, white-water rafting, etc. You get this whole place FREE because you're a student. So take advantage of it! It deserves to be utilized!
The food here ain't so bad either. You have tons of places to choose from. There's the main cafeteria, which serves tons of different food every day. Then you have the Union, which has 5 or 6 different choices, along with a mini-market store. There are also several places around campus to eat.
State also has so many options for financial help. There are tons of scholarships; most aren't where most people look. Just apply early and every year. There are loans and grants available, too. Don't miss-out!Tips for prospective students PLEASE, apply early! For admission, scholarships, and housing especially, it really does make a difference.
Try your hardest to meet new people! It makes a huge impact on your experience in college. Finding the right people to hang-out with is so important to how well you do in school and in life.
Don't be afraid to be yourself. That's the best you could be!
Study, work hard, and don't give-up!!! Stay up late, but not too often. Sleep is very important.
ASK your teachers for help. Even if you think you understand, ask for clarification. If you don't feel comfortable asking them, ask a classmate.
Walk or ride your bike as many places as possible. I lost the freshman 15 instead of the opposite because I walked places. It makes you feel better, too. However, there is a bus for those late or rainy days!
FOCUS! I promise, it affects how well you do. No matter how smart you are, don't be surprised if you don't do as well as you did in high school. It's hard sometimes, but soo worth it!Great for these types of students Not just for southern, country folk.
Great for most people!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I absolutely loved my first year at Mississippi State. The teachers are usually willing to help you when you need it. Word of advice: go to class and you'll do fine!
Am enjoying being here I think our campus is one of the prettiest campuses I've ever been on. It really comes alive on football game days with all of the tents, food, and cowbells. Starkville is a pretty small town, but it still has lots of neat places to eat and little boutiques to shop at!
Bang for the buck All of the public universities around this area are about the same price, but i definitely think im getting my money's worth here.
Tips for prospective students Have fun, but keep focused!
Great for these types of students MSU is a great place for any degree, but especially engineers or vets. If you want the whole fun college experience and great academics with a small town feel then State is the place for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers are really good and friendly. But besides that, the information they give us helps us learn a lot. They provide us with needed materials that students later on use in their chosen careers. If a student does not understand something, he or she can always go to a teacher's office or a tutor provided by the university to receive more help and this helps the student learn a lot.
Am enjoying being here MSU is in a small town so fun things to do is movies and a roller skating place. However, The campus life is really good. We have places to shop and other dining places besides the cafeteria in the Student's Union. The enjoyment part is the parties that are done by students/roommates and also during the football season, it feels great being in the stadium surrounded by students who shake their cowbells.
Bang for the buck MSU is one of the cheapest colleges in the nations, even if a student comes from out of state or is a non-resident. You receive great information compared to other colleges and you pay less tuition compared to other colleges.
Tips for prospective students Come to university to learn and not just to party. Remember what you are there for and you'll do great.
Great for these types of students The university is great for students who like living in a small town, those who like being in a quiet and safe area, those who want to major in engineering (the university has one of the best teachers for this major), and for those who are determined to learn.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mississippi State University is a great school. You must come prepared to learn and always prioritize. There is no such thing as free time in college.
Tips for prospective students Students preparing for college need to come disciplined. There is no one there to make you do anything so be aware. I always say to myself I am paying for this, which is used as motivation to stay focused.
Academic Rigor Some teachers you have to meet with personally if you want the extra help. The classes are packed with a lot of students so in order to keep up, e-mail and stay in touch with your teachers. Never be afraid or too lazy to say I NEED HELP!
Dorm Life I stayed in one of the newest dorms, South Hall, and loved it. I will be staying off campus for the upcoming year but dorm life is what you make of it. We had our own bathrooms so I didn't make many friends but in the other dorms you are liable to meet more people.
Food and Dining The food is okay. The cafe has its days depending on which one you choose to dine-in. Last semester I was either in the Perry, the Templeton, or McArthur.
What to do for fun No place is fun all of the time, and considering Starkville is a college town there is only so much to do. Football game weekends are the best because the campus has many activities going on but a regular weekend the camous might be dead.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I would have to say the holiday where some people don't wear shoes like the entire day. It is a bit weird for me because I find that so disgusting. But its something that will be seen pretty often.
Campus Safety Mississippi State is a pretty safe campus. There are always people riding around on golf carts patrolling the campus. I always feel pretty secure when I'm walking with a friend.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Mississippi State is equipped with challenging instructors who push their students to strive for excellence. The value of knowledge is apparent in the classroom and around campus.
Am enjoying being here Mississippi State offers a beautiful campus and plenty of activities. The excitement of football games and pep rallies makes the campus feel united and alive.
Bang for the buck Mississippi State is very affordable for most families including those out of state. Depending on a student's intended major, the cost may be more than expected. However, the feeling of being safe around campus, well-educated by your instructors, and confident in the future are all vital elements that are offered at State.
Tips for prospective students Do not procrastinate. When an instructor gives a time limit on an assignment and it seems like a long time, chances are there's a reason why he or she has allotted that amount of time. It is usually because it will actually take that long to effectively accomplish the task asked in the assignment. Therefore, if you intend to do well in your classes, get a head start while the information is fresh on your mind, and don't wait until the last minute to rush the assignment.
Great for these types of students Mississippi State is a wonderful place for all dedicated students that would like to earn a useful education. If a student is looking for a good group of friends, there are organizations such as BSU that provide a great environment and plenty of fun activities. However, if a prospective student is shy and would like a smaller group, the residence halls also provide floor meetings, study groups, and game nights to their residents.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am not only learning from the best in my field as a Meteorology major, but I am learning about myself too. The great people and environment at Mississippi State makes you want to be a better person. What I've learned outside of the classroom is priceless, and what I've learned in the classroom is invaluable to my future. I am definitely learning a lot at Mississippi State!
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love Mississippi State. From the beautiful campus to the SEC football games to hundreds of organizations to be involved in on campus, I can't get enough!
Bang for the buck We were rated Best Value by several organizations. Mississippi State is truly a place to get a great education for an affordable price.
Tips for prospective students Visit and visit often! Though a small town, there is always so much to do and we love visitors! Like I said before, the people at Mississippi State are incredible; they want to show off our beautiful school and help you in any way they can. Also, apply early (like at midnight on the day the application opens) to ensure the best dorms!
Great for these types of students If you love college football, we're a proud member of the SEC. If you love the outdoors (I don't necessarily, but my boyfriend does) there's campsites and hiking near by. If you like shopping or taking nice walks around a gorgeous campus on a beautiful day (more up my alley) it's perfect too! Most importantly, if you're looking for a great education that's affordable..MSState is the place for you!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Mississippi State is one of the most underrated schools when it comes to learning. I know personally, I learned so much more from the professors at this university than I ever expected.
Am enjoying being here I love being here. Everybody is so nice, and all the professors honestly care about the students. The students at the university are so nice, and love the school, and we want you to love the school as much as we do.
Bang for the buck It is considered one of Kiplinger's best college buys. I personally am an out-of-state student and the out-of-state tuition is less than the in-state tuition at some schools.
Tips for prospective students Go into the school with an open mind because you will be surprised. Just because the school is in Mississippi, do not think that it's some country university. The faculty are some of the most worldly people you meet and it makes you wonder how they ended up at the university, but you're still glad that you had the opportunity to learn from these amazing people.
Great for these types of students Honestly, I think the school is great for anybody. It's good for kids from small towns, who will be exposed to so much more. At the same time, students from cities like me, will appreciate the small town feel of the university.

Am enjoying being here I have made some of the best friends of my life here.
Bang for the buck Mississippi State has a great engineering program, which is why I am here. Tuition continues to increase as the school tries to grow, but it is still way less than the other schools of its caliber.
Tips for prospective students Mississippi State is a great place to come if you are interested in engineering or if you are unsure exactly what you want to do. MS State has a wide variety of majors, and if there is something that you want to do that they don't have, they will work with you!
Great for these types of students Mississippi State is great for just about everyone!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mississippi State is a great university. Its is very diverse and its gives students a lot of opportunity to succeed. It is also growing and expanding every year.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should come in with the mindset to focus on their school work. It is not the easiest place in the world but by studying it could minimize their failure rate. Also, get involved on campus as well as off campus it is always good to be a well rounded student.
Academic Rigor It just depends on your and on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are focused and dedicated you will do fine at this great university
Dorm Life Dorm life is good. It is relatively safe and the RAs try to make it as homey for you as possible. They really seem to care about you as a person.
Food and Dining The food is pretty good. The Perry is great! the food is very good and they tend to switch things up depending on the day so you will get a variety of things.
What to do for fun The sanderson is the place to be when you want to have fun. The Union is also a great place to hangout as well.
Greek Life I am a member of Phi Beta Sigma and I can say from personal experience that greek life is great here and MSU.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mississippi State University is a great campus to obtain your degree from. The experiences are unmatched and life changing for the better! The network and outreach of teachers and friends is unparalleled.
Tips for prospective students Don't sluff off in high school and keep your grades up. Take every opportunity to increase your resume and don't let chances pass you by. Last, keep a mindset of a hard-working individual and don't relax too much before college!
Academic Rigor As a freshmen your classes will be tougher than high school, you'll be asked to complete tasks faster than you have been before. Teachers will not ask for the impossible, but they will have rigorous courses, all to prepare you for the next 3 years.
Dorm Life Every dorm has its quirks, some are more lively, and other are laid back. Regardless of the dorm though, you will make friends and have a support group for the rest of college and your life afterwards.
Food and Dining Depending on the places on campus the quality of food will fluctuate, some places are mediocre and others are decent. It all depends on your choice of dining.
What to do for fun The campus provides many opportunities for fun and excitement. For every activity you can think of there's a club or organization that exists.
Bang for the buck If you try to experience college, you'll get your moneys worth in experiences alone. For educational purposes, MSU is a top-notch school offering many degrees with strong scholastic backing.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus For traditions, there's the cowbell. Which, if you haven't heard, is a pretty big deal. If you attend, you'll be greeted by its ringing shortly after arriving. For locations, there's The Drill and The Junction which are great places to relax between classes or even after class. Oh! Did I mention there's secret tunnels?
Great for these types of students All types of students attend MSU, so it's a great place for all.
Clubs and Activities Too many to list!
There's a fencing club, and group for Zumba, and for some there's Greek life.Greek Life Second to none, MSU offers a Greek Life unlike any other university. With 16 fraternities and 8 sororities there's a fit for almost anyone who rushes. The philantrophies are a sight, some are even nationally known. If you're looking for friendship, you'll find more in Greek Life, you'll find life long connections, brothers, and sisters.
Campus Safety Regardless of past events, the campus is safe. Very rarely are there any incidents, the worst on a normal day is the occasional speeding ticket.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mississippi State University provides that home away from home feeling that other universities do not. The teachers and faculty are not only concerned with getting students in and out of school, they are concerned about every student's well being as an individual. Mississippi State University is nothing but a helpful school, wanting to provide each student with all of the necessary tools to help achieve his or her goals, and become the best person one can possibly be.
Academic Rigor Academics is taken very seriously at Mississippi State University, with it being one of Mississippi State's top priorities. Teachers and faculty accept nothing less than excellence from each and every student. Each student at Mississippi State is expected to give 100% when it comes to academics, and strive to reach his or her full potential each day.
Food and Dining Food and dinning on campus is overflowing with choices. The union provides students with seven different choices of chain style restaurants, and Perry Cafeteria gives students multiple options of all sorts of food. The Fountain, the campus bakery, provides students with excellent sweet treats.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Is a great University with many opportunities for its students. I highly recommend it to someone who wants to pursue a degree in engineering or business. Also it has one of the top vet schools in the country.
Tips for prospective students Don't always believe what your advisers tell you, sometimes you can take a class or they try to push people in classes so they can have enough students to offer it.
Food and Dining Freshman are required to have a meal plan and the food isn't that bad it's just repetitive.
What to do for fun Jog or work out at the Sanderson, which is a huge gym with pools, basketball courts and indoor track.
Bang for the buck If your instate it's worth it and probably is too if your out of state, pretty affordable.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mississippi State University is the most beautiful campus in Mississippi. They have a very good school of Engineering, International Business and Veterinary Medicine. Mississippi State is very willing to help students find their place in the world.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should expect nothing but the best from MSU. Be sure to study all the time and go to class! Start working hard for scholarships and be smart!
Academic Rigor Mississippi State offers a wide variety of majors and as you become older in your college career, classes will begin to become more difficult. MSU's basic courses are fairly easy, however you must attend class. Overall, MSU offers a very diverse program.
Dorm Life Dorm life is good if you choose the right dorm. The University has very nice new dorms and they are expanding more this summer. However the retro dorms are not pleasant to live in. MSU offers a variety of different living styles to choose from.
Food and Dining The meal plans at the University are worth your dollar. The food at MSU is outstanding and all the dairy products are made within the University. The meal plans are very convenient as well.
What to do for fun There are many places to go shopping in downtown Starkville. There are also a lot of restaurants that are authentic. If you are over 21, there are many bars that are very fun to attend to.

Categories Rating Comments Dorm Life It depends on what dorm you live in and the kind of person you are. But it wasn't that bad for me, though I hated the community showers and the loud people in the hall when you're trying to sleep.
Food and Dining On campus, I mostly eat from Chik-Fil-A or Panda Express. Though the Perry isn't that bad either, just wish they had more options.
Clubs and Activities There are many different clubs and activities on campus, you really just have to find them. You could even start your own club with permission from the school or board of activities people.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Choosing to go to Mississippi State University right out of high school was the best decision I ever made. I have made friends here that will be by my side for life. Besides the amazing social atmosphere, the campus is consistently kept beautiful by our landscapers and has really challenged me academically.
Tips for prospective students I would suggest learning what your specific study habits are before fully engaging in classes. I learned that the hard way. Over 3 years I had to learn how to study and what works best for me.
Academic Rigor The academics at State are tough, but all in a good way. The teachers allow you to learn the information they've given you on your own, but of course are willing to help in any way they can if you don't understand something.
Dorm Life Life in the residence halls has been the most amazing experience of my life thus far. You make many friends and meet more people than you can count or remember. Residence halls on campus provide your home away from home and a great social atmosphere that makes you feel accepted.
Food and Dining Food is great at State! We have so many dining areas on campus including a Chick-fil-a, Panda Express, Einstein Bros., and 2 Starbucks.
What to do for fun Our kind of fun is having a night out on the town, going to the movies, or going out to the Refuge (Noxubee National Forest).
Great for these types of students Anyone and everyone is welcome to State. We all find a common bond through being students here.
Clubs and Activities There are many, many clubs and organizations on campus. Name it, we have it!
Campus Safety Your safety is MSU's highest priority. We have lampstands lit up 24/7 that are blue specifically for emergencies. Just press the button on one and it notifies the police of a distress call and they know exactly where you are on campus.

Tips for prospective students Get as involved as you can! College is all about getting the experience you need for the real world and MSU gives you ample amount of opportunities to do so!
Academic Rigor They really enforce going to class, you wont succeed if you dont have good attendence and class is hard if you dont try. You have to apply yourself.
Dorm Life Dorm life is all around a great experience, helps you meet people you wouldnt normally meet and gives you a support right outside of your room! I am very close to my entire hallway!
Food and Dining They have the best food on campus such as Chick-fil-A and starbucks! The cafeterias are really good about offering healthy options too! The times the food places close is inconvenient.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mississippi State University is an outstanding university, capable of attaining academic greatness as well as maintaining social activities. Although, the classes are hard the professors are great at making the work fun and interesting. Overall Mississippi State is a great school to attend the experiences, and education you gain here are life changing.
Tips for prospective students For incoming students I would recommend that students take all classes seriously, if not their GPA is not going to be as high as they want which affects their future. Ever though some classes are easy when it comes to the tests and finals you would be lost without studying ahead of time. I would also recommend to balance school with social activities to much of either one could be very stressful. Lastly I would recommend that the students should always go to class because sometime that is all professors look for, effort and attendance.
Academic Rigor Depending on the class and professor determines the level of difficulty the class will be, some professors teach the same class but have two different styles of teaching you just have to predetermine and ask previous students about the professors to find out which one works best for learning style. No class is to hard because, the professors have office hours you can see them, Ta's available to help ,and Mississippi State provides tutoring for most subjects. Even though the work may seem to hard and over whelming once you understand and flourish in the class, all your hard work will have payed off for you benefit.
Dorm Life Students experiences with Dorm Life all depends on your personality and what side of the campus you live on. The North side of campus is where most of the honor students and the athletes live and the south side of campus is mostly where the incoming freshmen and sophomores live. The North side of campus is quieter and more students use their time there to study and on the south side of campus they're more activities going on throughout the year.
Food and Dining As an incoming Freshmen you are required a certain meal plan which includes unlimited block and $100 flex dollars. This mean that at any time while the Perry or Templeton Cafeteria is open you are able to go in and eat an immensely amount of time's. Also at 4pm and 9pm you can use your block meal at any of the restaurants on campus without using your flex dollars, which you can use for anything and time of day.
What to do for fun Their are a lot of activities on campus that you can attend and participate in for fun some of which are laser tag, fashion shows, spring fling, step shows, fiesta's, plays, hide and go seek(on the drill field) musicals etc.
Bang for the buck At the beginning of each year their are a lot of companies that come on campus to promote their business during which they give out free t shirts, pens, cases. Also during some activities Mississippi State provides free food, ice cream, snow cones etc. Also students are given coupon books at the beginning of school to save money on items and food that would have more than likely bought anyway. Also their are book stores on and off campus that provide books at a lower cost saving students hundreds of dollars.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus A tradition we have on campus is at football games and other activities we have cowbells that we ring to show school pride and support for the teams.
Great for these types of students Mississippi State is an very well rounded school and is great for every student they're are all types of activities here for every type of personality and student.
Clubs and Activities They're are many clubs here and a lot of activities on campus provided free of charge to students. Depending on what your interested in as a student I'm sure that their are many clubs and activities that are provided by Mississippi State. We have christian groups, all types of sports, fashion groups, singing groups etc. Football is a big deal on campus here and most people camp out and tail gate before, during, and after the game its considered a huge party food everywhere games anything you could think of.
Greek Life Greek Life is great here on campus they're are many different sororities and fraternities that the students can join, now their is an multicultural male and female group students can join that is making great impact on campus. Also the Greeks have many fundraisers to help many different charities, they also have many activities on and off campus in and out of the sorority and fraternity houses.
Campus Safety Bully Patrol is an Important part of campus they are on duty up until the time of 2:00am every day and they monitor all over campus. You can also call them if its late and your by yourself to walk or drive you where ever you need to go, library or your dorm. We also have a police station on campus with real police officers who also serve to protect the students and staff.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mississippi State has a beautiful, spacious campus. The faculty cares about you and will guide you to success. Although the student body is very large, it feels like a family.
Tips for prospective students Visit the school before choosing to go because Starkville is a small community that may not be some people's idea of a college town.
Academic Rigor The same as high school AP classes, with a bit more online work and writing required.
Dorm Life Most of the dorms at MSU are very large and luxurious.
Food and Dining The on-campus food is expensive and just okay, but there are many exceptional eateries in the area.
What to do for fun There is a local bar scene, club scene, roller skating, bowling, but no shopping.
Bang for the buck MSU is one of the best-value universities.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I'm glad to be apart of such an amazing, caring, and tradition based Bulldawg family. The school is so amazing inside and out and it is so historically rich. The knowledge I have gained at MSU is by far greater than anything I would have ever been able to gain anywhere else.
Tips for prospective students Go to class. From personal experience going to class is literally the most important thing anyone can do. Also, have fun. You're only in college once, but do not go too crazy. There will be parties but you will learn will quickly when to and when not to party. MSU is in the SEC so the football scene is amazing. You must attend at least one game even if you hate the sport. It is nothing like anything you will ever do in your life. The cowbells and the Maroon and White atmosphere just get you so excited to part of such an amazing Bulldawg family. Also join a club or activity of some kind. Its the best way that you can meet people and it will make your experience there so much better.
Academic Rigor I have had classes that were easy and I have had classes that were hard. The best advise I could give anyone about classes is to go and before signing up for classes ask around to find out a teacher's reputation. That will help you to know if the class will be hard or easy.
Dorm Life My dorm life experience was amazing. I lived in Creswell and the reason why I loved it so much was because we could keep our doors open and everyone in the hall would just come in and out and we would all just hangout. My closest friends to this day all lived in Cresswell my freshman year. Also back then, it was the Day One dorm. I would advise people into partaking in Day One because not only are you helping out the community but you are also making your resume look good.
Food and Dining The perry is good on fried chicken wednesday but you better get there early or else you will have a huge line. Other than that the food is generally pretty descent. McArthur is really good too, its alot more quiet and calm but that is because its also extremely small. The Templeton is good but that is where the althletes tend to eat. Other than that the Union is excellent with Chik fil A or Panda Express and Zoca being my favorites. But be careful not to spend your flex dollars too fast because they really can disappear on you.
What to do for fun There are so many things in Starkville despite its small town atmosphere. On days when the weather is absolutely perfect outside its so easy to find a couple of friends and pitch a hammock in a tree and just hangout and relax in between classes. If thats not enough there is always the refugee where you can go and have a picnic or just go wander around outside. Now during football season of course its all about tailgating. It is the most fun I think any freshman will be able to have besides hanging out in the left field lounge during baseball season. Either way you're with good friends and most importantly your bulldawg family. After the games you can get a bite to eat in any of the family owned and operated restraunts such as Strombolis or Lil Dooeys in the Cotton District which is only a couple minutes away from campus wether you walk or drive.
Bang for the buck Best bang for the buck.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I NEED MORE COWBELL!!!! I think thats enough said about traditions.
Great for these types of students Fun, energetic, dedicated, loyal, honest, intelligent, outgoing, spontaneous
Clubs and Activities There is literally anything that anyone could imagine wanting to take part in whether its a bowling team or cycling club, MSU has it all.
Greek Life Greek life is absolutely amazing. Every fraternity and sorrority is so close and they are all so supportive of eachother. Not only that but most of the Student Association, which runs the campus are people who are active in the greek community. It is definetly a great way to meet people, create better leadership skills, and enhance a persons character with sacred traditions.
Campus Safety I honestly can say that I have never felt more safe in a place before. Recently there have been a few incidents in which the reputaion of the school may have been tarnished with a shooting of a student, but it was an isolated incident and it was the first of its nature in the history of the university. The night that it happened everyone was so shocked. The words I heard repeatedly were How could this happen, Starkville is such a safe place. Although this horrible incident did occur, the entire student body and community came together and became stronger and you could definetly feel it in the air.

Tips for prospective students State your major as soon as possible! This is one tip I wish I would have known as a freshman. Knowing exactly what you want to major in is important so that you won't be in college longer than you should be.

Dorm Life The dorm rooms are new and very comfortable- it's as if you were at home!
Food and Dining The Union has many food options to pick and allows students the freedom of choosing what type of food they like.
What to do for fun There are many intramural sports to participate in, as well as many on-campus organizations and events to take part in throughout the school year.
Bang for the buck The cost of an education at Mississippi State is very reasonable for all of the amenities and opportunities that are available for students. It truly is a bargain!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus My most favorite tradition is the cowbell. Only a handful of schools in the nation are allowed to ring the cowbell during sporting events... it puts a special touch on our school pride.
Campus Safety There are many campus police officers patrolling the campus at all times of the day and night to make traveling around campus feel more secure.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences msu has an absolutely breathtaking campus. the engineering curriculum is challenging and engaging, pushing each student to apply themselves inside and outside of the classroom. best of all, the people and seemingly endless campus activities make each day fun and exciting.
Tips for prospective students go to class. it is a little cliche', but it's true. college can be an enjoyable experience, but not if you choose to waste the money going towards your education by sleeping in.
Academic Rigor msu is known for its engineering department and for good reason. from day one, students are expected to start thinking and working like engineers. the introduction classes for the different engineering majors give students a look at what their major offers and hands-on experience with projects engineers in each respective field may have to deal with. these classes are highly engaging and beneficial.
Dorm Life dorm life is absolutely amazing. i stay in mckee hall, which was recently renovated. the rooms are not necessarily large, but they are perfectly sized in my opinion. the resident advisers are always planning activities for their floor, from pizza parties to study sessions to workouts. mckee even hosted club mckee after every home game. the ra's would transform the entire lobby into a dance club!
Food and Dining the food in the cafeteria is good, but it gets old quick. however, there are many different styles of cooking to choose from. these include homestyle cooking, american, italian, mexican, and indian. the student union has chik-fil-a, panda express, zoca's (a mexican restaurant), panda express sushi, mississippi steak, and toss it up (a sandwich/salad restaurant).
What to do for fun there are concerts that pass through on a regular basis on campus, including the legendary b.b. king. there are tons of intramural teams and clubs too. from video game clubs to cinema clubs to book clubs, there is something for everyone at msu.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mississippi State is a great college. It is a great learning experience because of the many opportunities on campus. You meet a lot of welcoming people and learn as you proceed.
Tips for prospective students For any prospective students I would say keep your priorities straight. Do not let your social life affect your means to becoming successful. Also always do your best because second chances are not always given.
Academic Rigor Mississippi State does everything they can to make sure their students is attending classes and keeping their GPA up. The strictness varies from the courses you take to the teachers. Some are stricter then others, but all make sure you will be pushed to the best of your ability.
Dorm Life The dorm life at State varies. They have a lot of different dorms to choose from. They have the newer dorms which is a little bit on the expensive side but comes with great amenities and the older dorms which is where a lot of the population stay. Regaurdless of the dorms you stay in you meet a lot of great people and the RA's will make you feel as though your at home.
Food and Dining The food and dining is awesome. With the freshman meal plan you will never go hungry. There is The Perry which has everything you can think of from delicious dinner, salad bar, dessert counter, an international meal and a waffle maker. They have a Burger King, Starbucks, Panda Express, a bakery and many others. They also provide you with a 100 flex dollars which is the next best thing to cash. I enjoy eating everyday and feel as though I get my moneys worth.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Mississippi State has quality professors and the classes I have taken have been very interesting. I came out of my first semester with A's and B's, so I was very happy.
Am enjoying being here It is a very nice school with lots of things to get involved with. It is also a very BIG school, which can be overwhelming at times. The town of Starkville has everything you would need, but there isn't much to do off campus.
Bang for the buck For in-state students, it is definitely worth every penny, as it should be very affordable. I am an out-of-state student, however, and am paying quite a bit to attend school here even with institutional scholarships. I don't regret my choice to go to State, though! I feel like it is much more affordable than many other out-of-state schools would be.
Tips for prospective students Take a visit to campus and you will fall in love!
Great for these types of students MSU is a great choice for those interested in going to veterinary school. That's what I'm going for! Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My classes have been great so far. Difficult, but with hard work they are not a problem. They have been challenging and engaging, and while some are better than others, all of them are doable if you're willing to put forth the effort.
Am enjoying being here It's a small town, but campus is usually active, and you get used to the slower pace. It's a more local atmosphere, and the town is basically centered around the school. It's easy to connect with people. Whatever your interests are, you can usually find some way to involve them. Football is a huge thing here on campus, and even if you're not into sports the atmosphere is enjoyable.
Bang for the buck It's fairly affordable, and the programs are good.
Tips for prospective students Go to class, study, work hard, take it seriously, but enjoy yourself in the process.
Great for these types of students It's great for anyone who is looking for or can get used to small-town living. It's a heavily engineering school, but has a lot of other stuff, as well. Football fans will definitely like it here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Mississippi State has a LOT to offer: I know a lot of colleges do too, but what makes MSU different from the rest is the great environment of friendly people and staff. They are sooo awesome, especially the folks here because they'll make you feel like you're at home.
I'm not even kidding, it's amazing here because I have a bunch of friends who have gone to other universities for college visits and said that people over there aren't as friendly which is why they picked MSU.
I'm a sophmore at MSU but I'm learning so much about the campus activities, involvement on my campus and even in my community - man it's great.
Totally recommend this for anyoneAm enjoying being here Like I said above, it's amazing being here. It definitely is worth going here because I am a pre-med student wanting to go to UMMC (University of Mississippi Medical Center) and I think I have a good chance of getting there because of MSU.
I LOVE it here: 1) because most of my friends go here from high school, 2) because I have a bunch of friends ALL over the country including people from Washington, Pennsylvania, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Arizona, California, Wisconsin and EVEN people from all over the world like Japan, Korea, India, Iran, Australia, etc.
So if you don't think you will fit in, well think again.....I promise there's a place for everyone here on campusBang for the buck Money is a little expensive for me because even after some hefty scholarships, it's still a little expensive, but not nearly as bad as some IVY league colleges.
So don't worry too much, it's worth going here when you get here so you will probably forget about they money when you get here hahaTips for prospective students The only tips I would suggest to incoming freshmen is apply as early as possible for school AND for classes. If you already have friends at MSU that know the same classes that you are about to take, then ask them for the right teachers.
Get involved as much as you can your freshmen year because after that, it'll be really hard to get involved because the classes get harder and harder after your freshmen year!!Great for these types of students JUST COME TO MSU! I mean if you spent all this time reading down to this section, obviously you're interested haha. No for real, it's totally awesome here, I love it

Categories Rating Comments Academic Rigor The classes so far are great, and the teachers really seem to know their material.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful, and all the buildings are fairly close together (10 minutes' walk, tops). The many groups on-campus go out of their way to arrange events and socials, that really make students feel welcome.
Bang for the buck I can't really attest to this as far as tuition goes, because I don't have that much knowledge of other campuses to compare it to, but I can say for certain that the meal plan is great, and both the amount and quality of the food makes it completely worth it.
Tips for prospective students I would apply to the Honors College, even if you don't think you will make it. You get to enroll in classes earlier, and you have a chance to live in the Honors-exclusive dorm, which is one of the best on campus.

Bang for the buck I believe that the facilities and the amazing teachers make the amount of tuition worth your time at the university.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Mississippi State University has over 400 programs and over 150 majors to choose from. It is no doubt that there is so much to learn and many of the most respected professors to learn from. Not only in the classroom but the advantage of numerous programs allows every student including myself to learn everything from culture to science.
Am enjoying being here As research shows, the campus of Mississippi State University is quite the size. I am in love with everything it has to offer. As a student, I can visit the Sanderson workout facility, enjoy various meals in the union, and attend as many functions that are often put on. These are only a few reasons for my enjoyment.
Bang for the buck The best education does not come cheap. With Mississippi State university it is affordable. Especially for all the perks it comes with. While on campus each semester, it feels as though we really are blessed to focus on our education without a constant reminder of cost.
Tips for prospective students In choosing a residence hall, take into account a community feeling. Mississippi provides the best of all worlds to accommodate students. The best friendships are made in a close-knit setting.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have learned a lot just by being a student at MSU. Not only have I learned educational aspects, I have learned just general life aspects by meeting other people, attending class, and also attending the many programs that they have.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being at MSU. It is very fun. I wouldn't call MSU a party school compared to other colleges, I would call MSU a fun school because there are a lot of fun and neat things to do, that are clean fun.
Bang for the buck I think everyone could agree and say that there isn't a college that is cheap. However, MSU tuition is fairly priced to me, compared to other school that I were looking at my senior year in high school.
Tips for prospective students A tip for prospective students would be to tour the campus after you move into your dorm so that you can get a feel of how it is.
Always check your school email, I don't think I can emphasize that enough!
Check out bulletin boards frequently. There are always events going on around campus.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Plenty of interesting classes, but they all seem to be so small and all at the same time so you basically have to race to get in or virtually stalk it. There is also a tendency to cancel classes for a semester that you are already registered for.
Am enjoying being here It is alright but if you live in a dorm, or are going to be put in one, be prepared for the noisy freshman, fire drills at 12:00 p.m., and the every ringing cow bell. Also be prepared to not have a parking space, especially on game day.
Bang for the buck You'd think for as much as you are spending for this place and the fact that you clearly bought a parking decal that you would get a parking space. Be prepared to not get a dorm unless you are a freshman because you aren't guaranteed anything here.
Tips for prospective students Be a resident and arrive early, that's the only way to get a parking space on game days.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Sure, every college has the not-so-great teachers. But Mississippi State cuts down on these as much as possible. I am learning in every class I am taking, and the teachers make the classes highly enjoyable. Not only are the teachers great, but they WANT to help you.
Am enjoying being here Starkville isn't the best city for entertainment, but there's enough to do on campus that students don't really have to have a need to go in town. The people are incredibly friendly, the activities many, the students welcoming, and the food bearable. I love Mississippi State and I wouldn't trade it for another college in an instant.
Bang for the buck For the teaching, Mississippi State commands a great price. The amount of quality knowledge for this price is definitely worth it.
Tips for prospective students It's somewhat known as a near home college. A lot of kids here are from neighboring states and cities. Geographical diversity is not Mississippi State's strong point, but that is completely OK. It gives the students a somewhat homely feel knowing that most of the people are from the same region as them. Also, take advantage of the activities that MSU offers. They truly are fun and provide a great deal of entertainment.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Some of the classes I had to take were repeats of high school but that just made it easier to adjust to being far away from home. Also it boosted my GPA. I have learned many things about independence and new facts from the other classes I have taken and am taking.
Am enjoying being here I love it here! As a student far from home, it is kind of lonely at times, but the honors college, your academic college, and all your teachers try to make meeting new people fun and easy. I also enjoy the campus and the intramurals they have to offer.
Bang for the buck Mississippi State is really good with scholarship money and waiving out-of-state tuition. The class difficulty and presentation of new information and the price together make this school a great choice.
Tips for prospective students Be active in school groups in order to meet new people. Go out for a team, a club, or sorority/fraternity. Any place is a great place to meet friends.
