Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm learning so much from Northeastern. I'm currently a psychology major and a music industry minor. I absolutely love it here because there is so many diverse majors and minors that I can do. One of the greatest things here is that I can always see my professors whenever I need to. They have small classes and large classes. There are always dedicated teachers willing to help you no matter what.
Am enjoying being here I am definitely enjoying everything at Northeastern. One of the best things in Northeastern is the support of the staff including deans, counselors and others. Compared to other schools, this staff is literally the best staff because they are always willing to meet with you, help you out and you will always be able to reach them by phone and/or email. Another thing that's great is going to events. I saw Jimmy Eat World and Jon Stewart at Northeastern! The hockey games are the best! It's always so much fun to be there!
Bang for the buck This is an amazing college but the tuition and room and board is a little bit much. It is almost $50,000 a year if you have no scholarships at all. $50,000 a year is a lot and Northeastern usually has a 5-year program too. Although Northeastern tries to help as much as possible, it is definitely necessary to look for scholarships as much as possible. The best thing is that they accept almost all AP scores if it's a 4 or 5.
Tips for prospective students If you want to attend Northeastern, definitely apply with great classes schedule. I took one AP in my sophomore year, two in my junior year and six in my senior year. I feel like that definitely helped out a lot. Write a great essay because it's really important! And one of the most important things is extracurriculars!
Great for these types of students It's great for students who are very liberal in their political views. Northeastern is an extremely liberal school, not to a hippie-type of liberal but liberal as a more Obama-supporting liberal. It's also great for those students who always want support when learning because the professors are great for that!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are lots of interesting classes offered, and many of the professors are really passionate about what they teach, which is refreshing. The students are really interested in forming study groups which is a nice change from high school. There are also lots of events on campus which allow you to learn outside of class as well.
Am enjoying being here In general, students are very friendly and outgoing. The upperclassmen housing is amazing, and the campus is beautiful. Although Northeastern is located right in the heart of Boston, it has a campus feel to it. It's also located about half a mile from Fenway Park, which is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, athletics aren't that important at Northeastern and the sporting events don't usually draw much of a crowd, except for hockey, where the event will be sold out.
Bang for the buck One of the coolest things about Northeastern is it's co-op program. The majority of students graduate in five years and do three six month long co-ops. When a student is on co-op, they're earning money to pay off their loans and gain real world experience at the same time. Although the tuition is fairly high, it's worth it with the amount of experience that you graduate with. This will give you a huge advantage when you're looking for your first job.
Tips for prospective students Definitely take AP classes in high school to save some money. Northeastern will accept most 4s and 5s. Also, if you come in Undecided, make sure you have a few options in mind before you get here. If you miss taking one class early on it can throw off your whole schedule, especially if you plan on going on co-op.
Great for these types of students The student body is largely liberal, and students like to have fun but also know when to be serious. If you're a big partier you probably won't like Northeastern too much because you have to go off campus. Also, Greek life isn't very big here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes at Northeastern University and what you are able to take from them depend on three things; your major, your interest in learning the course material, and your professor. Different majors at the university have more rigorous courses than others, so as a Pharmacy major, I have science and health-related courses. My courses are all very intense academically and doing well in the course requires work. I am interested in the learning material varying from Organic Chemistry to Medical Microbiology so that aids in helping me to learn a lot. Most of my professors are very knowledgable and helpful so that also helps me to learn a lot in my courses.
Am enjoying being here I love being here. I can not help but brag to visiting high school students how underestimated Northeastern truly is in comparison to other colleges. Everyone who goes here is so proud to be a Northeastern husky. Students, including myself, always brag about our beautiful campus located in the city of Boston, the same campus, our great hockey team, the awesome people, the fun parties, and the overall excitement on campus. Its hard to not love it here. My only reason for holding back one star is that the winters in Boston, MA are very harsh and cold. If you are not prepared for brutal winds and snow, then it might be hard to adapt to college life. However, I dislike the winters here, but still refuse to leave.
Bang for the buck The school is expensive because it is a private school. However, it is comforting to see that they are using our tuition money wisely. Recently they built, a brand new dormitory and dining hall. Not to mention the numerous campus building they just rebuilt and updated. The expenses are also made worth it by the fact that the degree and resume you will graduate with from here is unlike any other college. Due to Northeastern's Coop program, you can make money to pay for tuition while receiving college credit and boosting your resume with job experience. The COOP program alone makes the hefty tuition worth the bang for the buck.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should know that Northeastern is an up and coming school. Students here are proud to be huskies and will boast their campus, spirit, sports teams, and university any chance they get. Boston is a great city and the fact that our green campus is located literally in the center of it all promises that whenever you are not studying there will be something to do.
Great for these types of students On campus we have every type of student and a diverse student population. A popular stereotype that you might observe on campus is a hipster student. However, it is hard to stereotype students considering there is so many types. Generally, students here are smart and motivated. At the same time, students are not all bookworms and most are very involved in campus clubs and other activities, as well as participating in a lively social life. Essentially, Northeastern is a perfect fit for students who want a good education, like being able to explore a city, and like the idea of being able to boost your graduating resume through COOP. No student should worry about fitting in because with so many kids on campus, it is easy to make friends and find people your are compatible with. Although, our campus has 15,000 undergrads, it never feels this large, you will still see the same kids daily on your way to class, thus making Northeastern ideal for students seeking a large or small school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot At Northeastern I am majoring in political science and minoring in international affairs. I love my classes and my professors have been great. What's really amazing is how easy it is to reach your professors if you have any questions about the material. Various organizations on campus hold lectures or speakers about specific topics that are interesting and reinforce what's happening in class (they are also normally extra credit!)
Northeastern has an interesting learning program call the CO-OP. This is when for a semester you go and work in your perspective field. I am going on CO-OP next spring and am really looking forward to it. Sometimes I am confused with what exactly I want to do after school and this is my chance to give it a test run, before I get my degree!Am enjoying being here I love being at Northeastern! Boston is such an amazing city where there is so much to do and see. For instance last semester on weekends my friends and I would walk to Newberry Street or the Prudential Center to go shopping. Faneiual Hall is just a couple of train stops away and from there you are walking distance from the North End and the aquarium (which is pretty awesome). Also, Fenway is only a short walk away, some of the residential building are tall enough to look into the park to watch games.
But on a smaller level there is so much to do on campus! Hockey games are a must! (And they are free!) Get there early and sit in the student section Dog House where we harass the opposing team. There is an excellent multilevel gym on campus and if you aren't athletic enough for our D1 sports there are many intramural sports on campus. There are also so many clubs and organizations on campus to be a part of (for example I'm in the College Republicans and the Council for University Programs). But what's most amazing is being in the middle of the city but also having a campus to call your own which is what most metropolitan schools do not have.Bang for the buck Northeastern is very expensive and with the economy it's hard to be there. Also, I have been struggling to get financial aid from NU. But, the real problem is that there is no where else I rather be. You can see where your tuition money goes just with a simple walk around campus or sitting in our classrooms. Northeastern is ever expanding (I'm living in a brand new building this fall!) and becoming more modern then ever.
Tips for prospective students Take APs in High School! Northeastern takes 4's or 5's but if you get them it is so worth it. I came into school with an entire semester worth of AP credit. Northeastern has the NUCore, which is a bunch of general education classes that you have to take. Being a political science major I never wanted to take another science class again, and turns out I don't have to with the credit I have from my APs!
Great for these types of students Northeastern is great for students who are self determined and ready to get out and experience the world with our experiential learning model. Learning goes beyond the classroom!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am definitely learning a lot at Northeastern. I am a Graphic Design major, and I was required to complete 3 semesters of foundation art classes before moving on to Graphic Design classes. The foundation classes helped me learn a lot of basics that I didn't get in high school so that I will be better prepared for my major and my co-op. Now that I have my core requirements (math, english, science & humanities) out of the way, I can also take electives which interest me so that I can learn outside of my major.
Am enjoying being here I love the location of campus; it is a very short walk to restaurants, shopping, museums, etc. As a Northeastern student I get free admission to the Museum of Fine Arts. Most Northeastern events (sports as well as concerts, plays, and comedians) are free for students, so there is always something to do without spending money. I love the hockey and basketball games, and there is free ice skating during the week.
Bang for the buck Tuition, room & board are very expensive. However, most of the housing (even for freshmen) is clean and big enough. There are lots of food options, and most of it is very good. Part of the cost goes towards an activity fee that allows you to attend events and use the gym.
Tips for prospective students I definitely recommend taking a tour and getting to know campus a little bit before coming to Northeastern. Because it's in the city, it is a good idea to have somewhat of an idea where things are. Also, look for ways to get involved on campus. There are lots of volunteer opportunities and clubs to join which will make your freshman year fun and help you meet new people.
Great for these types of students Northeastern is great for people who want to live in a city but also want a campus that is easy to navigate and not too spread out. School spirit is big, so students who enjoy going to sporting events and participating in activities would love this school. There are plenty of quiet places to study-- the library is open 24 hours-- so you can switch from being busy and surrounded by people and activity to being able to do your homework and get projects done easily.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I love all of my classes that I'm taking this semester. There are lots of options for interesting topics to learn about. I am really enjoying my Nutrition class, which is incredibly interesting. I am also learning a lot about living on my own in the city.
Am enjoying being here I honestly love everything about Northeastern. I love being in the city of Boston and the college experience. I have not once regretted coming here and I haven't been very homesick. There are lots of ways to distract yourself from being away from your family and your home, and before you know it, you are completely integrated into the college lifestyle. I enjoy every day I spend here.
Bang for the buck Northeastern is very expensive, and you have to make the most of it for what you are paying. I joined clubs and student groups, and this helps me feel like I'm getting more for the price. I take ballroom dance lessons for free and I take other dance classes three nights a week. I go to concerts and take advantage of events with free food. Basically, you have to put yourself out there and do lots of new things that would cost money if you were not at a large university. As for the classes, they are probably worth the money. I feel that I have learned a lot so far, so the price has been worth it.
Tips for prospective students Northeastern is great choice of college. Visit the campus and decide if it's the place for you. I knew within ten minutes of my visit that I wanted to go to school here. If you have any doubts or feelings that it may not be for you, try somewhere else. You'll know if this is the place for you. Also, the location is incredible! I can walk to Newbury Street, concerts, the Prudential Center, and more. Boston is an amazing city, and if you like the city life, Northeastern is in a prime spot.
Great for these types of students Northeastern is great for the adventurous, open-minded, fun-loving, and independent students.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Some of the professor's are wonderful, but those seem to be the upper classman professors. The freshman professors are good, some aren;t as good as others. There is a lot of help offered (via tutoring, review sessions, etc.) if you need it.
Am enjoying being here It is a nice campus. Even though it is in Boston it is a campus all it's own. You won't feel like you're lost in a big city. The campus is very centralized. It is very easy to access all of Boston since 2 T lines stop right on campus as well.
Bang for the buck It is expensive. Yes. I recommend talking to an advisor at the school, CHECKING to see which credits they would accept from another, cheaper institution. The iI would transfer in your 2nd or 3rd year. Keep in mind you can for 4 or 5 years at NU, at least for Engineering.
Tips for prospective students Transfer in. It'll save you money.
Great for these types of students Driven students. Expectations are high for students.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Northeastern does a great job at finding teachers who know and care about the subjects they are teaching. I am a double major in International Affairs and History and I couldn't be happier. It is my first semester here but I feel like I've already learned and done more than all four years of high school combined.
Am enjoying being here One of my favorite things about Northeastern is the fact that there is so much to do. There is some kind of event happening on campus almost every night and the great thing about it is that most of them are free for Northeastern students. Not to mention, we're right in the heart of Boston so there is plenty to do and see in the city if you ever feel like venturing off campus.
Bang for the buck Yes, Northeastern is pricey. But they are great at giving out financial aid to people who need it. Almost everyone I know here has some kind of scholarship or financial aid. And the amount that you have to pay is worth it. Northeastern has so many exciting opportunities that one can partake in that really enrich and enhance the experience here. And as I said before, you really are learning when you are here.
Tips for prospective students Take high level classes but also take classes that you enjoy. Northeastern looks for students who have more individuality and are self-aware. They give you a lot of independence here so they like to see students who can handle that independence.
Great for these types of students Northeastern is a great fit for students who have a strong idea of what they want to do. The co-op program gives you the chance to jump right into your desired field, while still an undergrad student, so you can see if that is really the direction that you wish to go. It is also good for students who like to have a say in their education. Northeastern gives students a lot of freedom in the choices of their classes to the extent that the student is almost the one designing the curriculum.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am a Business Administration major with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. The classes that I have taken thus far have all offered incredible opportunities to apply what is taught in real world contexts. The courses are challenging, but not unreasonably so. The professors are accessible to students and relate well to them in the classroom.
Am enjoying being here I honestly believe that I could not have found a better college for myself. Boston is a great city for college students. There are many other colleges in the area, so the community consists strongly of young adults. Museums, movie theaters, and other recreational locales in the area offer great student discounts. On campus, there is always a show, speaker, or game going on.
Bang for the buck As much as I love Northeastern, it is on the expensive side. I do wish that it was less expensive or that there were more options for lower income students. Still, it is a great place to go to school.
Tips for prospective students Apply early. My guidance counselor advised me that this is important since Northeastern receives so many applications each year. Tour campus, as it will give you a much better idea of what the school offers. While you're there, make sure to check out the surrounding area and to talk to students. My friends and I all comment on how much we enjoy talking to prospective students, so don't be afraid to approach us.
Great for these types of students Northeastern is great for students looking for a large school. Each college program provides its own sense of a smaller community, like the College of Business that I belong to, but for the most part it does feel like a large school. It's a great school for hands-on learners, as it provides the opportunity to work in your field of interest before graduating. It also offers an urban community with a campus that is set off from the main city streets, so it's a good environment for those who are transitioning to an urban environment for the first time.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The difficultly level for classes, to me, is the same as it was in high school. There is more work, though, so time management is definitely a necessity.
Am enjoying being here The weather here is about the same that it is at home, although in the winter time it can dip below zero sometimes, especially at night. The food is good at first, but the meals can get repetitive, especially for freshmen, who don't have kitchens. Some of the freshman dorms also have a bit of a rodent problem, but the upperclassman dorms are extremely nice. Boston is a bit of a dead town, not much do to except eat and shop until you turn 21.
Bang for the buck I think, for what you pay, the school could offer a bit more, especially where shows/parties and food (especially food) is concerned. There's no in-between with dorm price. You either pay a lot and get a really nice dorm, or pay a little and then regret it.
Tips for prospective students Buy a North Face, or other equally warm winter coat. Develop time-management skills immediately.
Great for these types of students Those who don't mind the extra year in school because of co-op.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I know Northeastern's a great school if you want to learn a lot in a career-focused environment.
Will enjoy being here I hope so.
Bang for the buck They suck at financial aid. Period. There's next to no merit aid, and it's damn near impossible to get your IDOC's in on time for priority need aid.
Tips for prospective students Grades, visit, and APPLY FOR OUTSIDE AID.
Great for these types of students Ones with money.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are okay, I am learning alot, but on my own. My biggest lecture is about 260 students and we learn off of powerpoint slides and the same goes for my psychology lecture which is about 190 students. If you want to learn alot, you have to put in the time and effort on your own.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love being in Boston, that's the biggest perk of going to Northeastern, but other than that, there really aren't that many interesting events happening on campus at all. If you want to have a good time, then you have to get off campus and go get lost in the city.
Bang for the buck This school is completely overpriced. The freshman dorms are not work the $12,000 a year price tag and the food isn't great. It's always the same items over and over, it gets redundant. For the price that parents are paying for tuition here, you would think that you wouldn't have to teach yourself biology or chemistry, but you do. Simply hearing your professor read powerpoint slides that are posted on Blackboard don't help you learn.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you know what you're getting yourself into and know why you're coming here and for what major because each major has different prerequisites and if you're not sure what you want to major in, then Northeastern is not the place for you.
Great for these types of students -Those who like to teach themselves.
-Those who like to live in big cities.
-Those who want massive college campuses.
-Those who don't mind paying the price.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences northeastern is fantastic. the campus is beautiful, and boston is one of the best places any college student could hope to live. the academics are just hard enough, there's a large variety of programs, and the school has a great reputation for students getting jobs right away.
Tips for prospective students i don't know anyone who would have anything against the campus, my my advice for everyone is always visit if possible. you should like, or not mind cities. also, be agressive. northeastern is all about going after what you want and fighting for yourself.
Academic Rigor like i said, just hard enough. like anywhere, there are going to be easier and harder classes, but for the most part, they're just hard enough so that you learn, but it's manageable. there's usually a lot more homework than high school, but it's because you have more free time. welcome to college.
Dorm Life i love my dorm! to be fair, i'm in the newest one, international village, which has it's own dining hall, gym, and printer. i don't usually hear any serious complaints about other dorms though, and many people like the older ones better. they're all decent sized, what's to be expected, and there's a large variety of styles and locations available.
Food and Dining there are 3 cafeterias, and 3 additional places to use meal swipes, and a ton of places on and off campus to use dining dollars, so with the 15 meal plan (options are 10, 15, or 19 per week) i'm still never hungry, or in danger of being so. the food is great for a college, and while you get a little sick of it after a long time, that would happen anywhere, and the cafeterias make a huge effort to keep things fresh and new.
What to do for fun um, it's boston?! everything is walkable on a nice day, and if you're lazy, just about everything is a short public transportation ride away. food, tons of shopping, always some events, museums galore, shows, parks, and if you're really desperate, a ton of other colleges to meet other college kids and do what ever they're doing for fun. you will never, ever run out of things to do here.
Bang for the buck well this school is pretty expensive... but i do love it a lot... and it'll probably get me a great co-op and then a great job which will pay me hopefully more than the average college grad, so i can make up for the expensive schooling... hard to say for sure.
Great for these types of students people who love cities, people who don't like being bored. go-getters, people who actually want to learn, and who like to get involved. people who want the perfect mix of a traditional style campus with grass and quads, but in boston.
Clubs and Activities too many to name! clubs related to majors, religions, heritages, hobbies, community service, sports, and more. pretty much anything you could imagine, and even if you aren't a member, clubs are always throwing events for all students.
Greek Life not a heavy influence to join, but those who do have a noticeable impact around campus. there are a decent number of people in frats and sororities, but it's not like a huge pressure to join. they sponsor fun events, and occasionally throw parties.
Campus Safety i'd give it five stars, but it is a city, so you can never tell what's going to happen. while i would never recommend it, i have found myself wandering around at night alone, and have never felt unsafe. there's all the usual security procedures, our own police force, in addition to a very close proximity to boston police, blue lights, escorts services, etc. i've never heard of anything really terrible happening to a student, aside from the occasional threat. check the northeastern crime log for a good idea of what goes on.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a business major and music industry minor, I'm finding that most, if not all, of my professors are enthusiastic about what they teach, accessible, approachable, and fair. You will need to work pretty hard, but the knowledge is available if you're ready to absorb it.
Am enjoying being here Northeastern hosts a fabulous mix of people. There are people from all walks of life, with all different kinds of interests. Because the school is a high caliber institution, you tend to find hard workers and make friends with others who value their education as much as you do. You can always find someone to hole up with in Club Snell (the library) but you can also find groups of people to join you at local bars and clubs!
Bang for the buck Northeastern just raised tuition, which isn't great news for everyone who has suffered during the current state of the economy. Yes, the typical program is five years, but you will not pay tuition the 18 months (3 six-month co-ops) you are not taking classes. The school tries to give financial aid to students.
Tips for prospective students Living in Boston can be expensive. Especially when moving off campus, check out surrounding areas for more affordable rent and lifestyles. Come visit before registering! Get a feel for your surroundings. Boston is an amazing city, and NU has a great campus, but you should make sure you're a good fit for the environment before making any agreements. If you do come to Northeastern, try to fulfill core requirements early on by taking a variety of different types of classes - they can be really interesting and will help you solidify your academic career path!
Great for these types of students You need to be a diligent student. Northeastern is not really a party school. Greek life exists, absolutely, but it isn't incredibly prominent. Boston provides a pretty liberal environment overall, and Northeastern fits that bill. Students who want the ability to explore a city with a million things to do should absolutely check out NU! Also, there are a ton of activities and clubs to partake in at this school, so it is a great institution for students who want to be involved!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am becoming a global citizen just by attending NU. Not only because there is so much to learn in the classroom, but also out side of the class room. Everyday I meet new people with new experiences and they are able to teach me so much more.
Am enjoying being here I love Northeastern, I have made so many friends since September and I did not know one person when I arrived. I love the city of Boston, and the campus it so pretty to be located in the middle of a city. There is always something going on on campus. The only set back is that Boston does not have the greatest under 21 night-life.
Bang for the buck While it is very expensive to attend NU, after visiting the classrooms and just experiencing the college it is understandable. There are great teachers, we have so many amenities, the campus is always tidy, and we have great staff.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you visit the campus before making your decision, also be open to new experiences. The Co-Op program is an amazing opportunity to get involved with and it puts you ahead of your competition in the long run.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot There's no doubt that Northeastern will help you in this area; ranked in the Top 100 National Colleges by US News and World Report, Northeastern particularly excels in the sciences, business, and law departments, being in the Top 100 colleges of the nation here. With current students having average SAT scores in the 600's, you'll be able to hold lively, interesting, world-conscious debates with your fellow students here . . . or so I've been told. Northeastern only just misses the mark of being Tier 1, on par with the Ivies and the Liberal Arts schools that cost even more, but is a strong Tier 2 choice and even beats out the Ivies when directly compared in some areas.
Will enjoy being here While a little too large for the liberal arts-types, the intellectual life of Northeastern is bolstered by the location of Harvard and other prestigious colleges in Boston as well. There'll never be a shortage of other college kids to hang out with. Like most colleges, clubs, athletic opportunities, and other ways to express yourself abound. For more information, just pop in the website or College Board or however you're planning on researching colleges - there's definitely something for everyone here.
Bang for the buck It's a private college, but $35000 for all of the extras of a Northeastern education sure ain't bad. Save around $10000 more a year than you'd be able to with an Ivy education - without scholarships - and get more real-world experience.
Tips for prospective students The best benefit to a Northeastern education is the co-op program, by far. Take advantage of all of Boston's numerous employment opportunities, mingle with the Ivy kids around the corner, and feel secure in knowing that you've got the experience that counts in the job field. The biggest complaint? Particularly for people who value the small-campus experience, the undergrad class size is a little large for all of your teachers to know you by name. Still, the 14:1 student-teacher ratio is better than what you'd find elsewhere, by far.
Great for these types of students Students who are wondering how they'll ever get the job with a BA in English, never fear! Five years at Northeastern costs about as much as four years at an Ivy, and lends itself to more real-world internships and even paying jobs than an Ivy would.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Northeastern is an incredible school and the best possible choice I could have made for furthering my education. The professors truly want to see you succeed, the classes are far more interesting and engaging than I ever imagined they would be, and there is really a sense of community throughout the campus. From the amazing coop program - where you have the opportunity to get a taste of the workplace while taking a semester off from classes (and getting paid!) - to the University Honors Program, to all of the clubs and activities in between, there is always something to do on campus, and, since the campus is the heart of Boston, the city truly is our playground.
Tips for prospective students Really get to know the coop program, and find out if that is something in which you might be interested. Northeastern has one of the top job-placement rates of any school in the country, and it's all because of coop - many students are hired for full time jobs upon graduation by employers they worked for as coops during their time at Northeastern. Most students are on a five-year schedule, so you have to decide if that would be good for you, but I think it is definitely worth it in the end.
Academic Rigor The classes are much easier than I expected, but mostly because I was finally taking the classes I wanted to take and learning from professors who really cared about their students and the topics they were teaching. I found that I learned more in one semester at Northeastern than I ever did in high school. The workload is certainly not unbearable, but there is definitely a fair amount of homework, required reading, paper writing, and studying for exams, depending on your major and the types of classes you're taking. If you're interested in an even bigger challenge, the Honors Program offers honors classes, which are much smaller, more difficult classes taught by the university's top professors and reserved for honors students only. All in all, Northeastern's academics are definitely rigorous, but not unbearable in any way. They will prepare you for the real world, but still allow you to have fun at the same time.
Dorm Life Housing is only guaranteed for your first two years at Northeastern; for the other three, you may be on your own. Freshman housing is decent, especially if you're in the Honors Program - honors freshmen live in International Village, the newest dorm building on campus, and have much bigger rooms and private bathrooms. The traditional freshman housing is not terrible; most freshmen live in Speare and Stetson East or West, and have nice common rooms and a real sense of community. Sophomores enter the lottery and are guaranteed housing, although it may not be great. Depending on your lottery number, you may get stuck in a traditional dorm style room rather than one of the nicer apartment style rooms on campus. I lucked out and got a duplex (2 story) apartment in the honors building (West Village F) with five of my friends that has 3 bedrooms, a living room, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen. After sophomore year, you are not guaranteed a lottery number, so if you get one, it is usually a better number and you have a great choice of housing, and if you don't, you have to find an off campus apartment. Many people opt for off campus anyway, because it can be cheaper, depending on how far off campus you are and which neighborhood you choose.
Food and Dining The freshman meal plan is a little annoying and pricey, but the dining hall food is very good compared to other schools. There are three traditional dining halls - Stetson East, Stetson West, and International Village. Stetson East has a great vegetarian room, and an extensive salad bar, with other options including sandwiches, pizza, a hot meal of the day, and soups. Stetson West has much of the same, but there is also a Stir Fry Room, with create-your-own stir fry that they cook to order so it is always exactly how you like it. International Village has many different stations, including sandwiches, salads, burgers, hot meal, vegetarian, sushi, soup, omelets, and pasta. All of the dining halls also have cereal all day, frozen yogurt machines, extensive dessert counters, and fruit choices. The meal plan, which includes either 10, 15, or 19 meals per week, also comes with a set amount of dining dollars, which can be used at many of the on campus restaurants. Aside from the dining halls, there is Wollaston's (the grocery store), Subway, Dunkin' Donuts, Qdoba, Boloco, Au Bon Pain, Argo Tea, and an entire food court in the Curry Student Center, which is currently being renovated but used to include Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Wendy's. All in all, there are a ton of options to choose from when it comes to dining, and I was very satisfied with my freshman dining experience.
What to do for fun On campus, there is the Curry Student Center, which has pool tables for students and also the After Hours club, which frequently hosts live music and performances. There is also plenty of green space (which you might not expect for a campus in the city!) for football throwing, Frisbee tossing, hula hooping, and laying out when it's nice enough. Luckily, Northeastern is in the heart of Boston, so when there's nothing to do on campus, there's an entire world to explore. There are two movie theaters close to campus, one within walking distance and one a short ride on the T. There are countless museums to explore, including the Museum of Fine Arts, which is a five minute walk from campus and is completely free to Northeastern students. There are an immense number of colleges in the Boston area, so when there's nothing to do at Northeastern, you can always skip on over to BU, MIT, Harvard, or Boston College to catch up with friends from home or check out a frat party. There is also a ton of shopping - from the Pru to Copley to Harvard Square to Downtown Crossing to the Galleria Mall to Newbury Street. Finally, there is, of course, all of historical downtown Boston to explore! Grab a bite at Quincy Market, walk through the historic North End and order a cannoli from Mike's Pastry, check out the Old North Church and the Paul Revere House, or go for a run through Boston Common. Between everything there is to do on and off campus, I have never once at Northeastern found myself uttering the phrase I'm bored.
Bang for the buck Don't get me wrong, Northeastern is EXPENSIVE, but, in the end, it's worth every penny. Not only do they offer a generous amount of scholarship money, the way in which Northeastern prepares you for the working world truly is priceless. Although most students go to school for five years, you do not have to pay five years worth of tuition. Like any other school, you are typically in classes for eight total semesters, and those are the only semesters during which you have to pay tuition. The other two semesters (or three, if you do three coops and take classes during the summer) are reserved for coop, during which Northeastern helps you find a job relevant to your major and you are actually MAKING money, rather than paying it. The only thing you have to worry about is room and board. The money you make is yours to keep and spend how you see fit, just like at a real job. You can use it towards housing, next semester's tuition, or save it to help pay off loans when you graduate. Or you can spend it on a new car, a trip to the Bahamas... whatever and whenever you want. Ultimately, although tuition is very expensive at Northeastern, it is well worth the price. You will have a much higher chance of finding a job upon graduation, and you will truly be prepared for the real world with your education from Northeastern. Plus, four years worth of tuition is spread out over five years, with the opportunity to make money from coops in between.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Rebecca's Cafe is THE BEST dining option on campus. They make sandwiches to order, and something about those sandwiches draws half hour lines and a lunch rush like you've never seen. If you're trying to decide where to get lunch with friends, there's almost no question: Rebecca's. From the Tuscan Turkey to the Bello Bello to the Southwestern Wrap, Rebecca's Cafe is a campus favorite, and everyone knows that if you don't get there by 11:25, you can forget about eating anytime in the next century. But, no matter what, it's worth the wait.
Great for these types of students Northeastern is great for students interested in getting a head start in their career. If you are a very traditional, classroom-learning type student, you can still excel here, and not everyone has to participate in the coop program, but most students find that it becomes an integral part of their education at Northeastern. If you are a very hands on student who loves field trips and field research, Northeastern is for you. If you are interested in science or engineering, Northeastern is definitely for you. If you are interested in arts and humanities, but are also interested in learning how to turn your passion into a viable career, Northeastern is for you. If you are looking for a big school in the big city, but still want that sense of community and like to see a few trees here and there, Northeastern is 100% for you. I can't think of a type of student who doesn't thrive at Northeastern, especially if you are looking for an education that will prepare you for the real world.
Clubs and Activities Every student group you ever wanted exists at Northeastern, and if it doesn't, you can make it. One of the most popular types of student groups is singing, and there is one for everyone, mostly small a cappella groups. There are also dance crews and teams, fraternities and sororities (although most don't have houses), and more special interest groups than I can even count. There are many different religious groups and cultural groups. There are community service groups, including Circle K, a group that works closely with a Boston pediatric unit making fun things for the children and participating in off campus service activities; Strong Women Strong Girls, a youth mentoring program for girls in Boston elementary schools; and Peace Through Play, a group that goes to Boston area schools and teaches exactly what the name suggests. There are also groups that are just for fun, such as NU Eats and the Arts and Crafts club. Many of the clubs at Northeastern have dues (around $5 per semester), but it is worth it for the fun activities and new friends!
Campus Safety Growing up near Philadelphia and hearing the stories on the news every night, my parents were very nervous for me to go to school in Boston. However, I feel just as safe on campus and throughout the city as I did back in my New Jersey suburb. There are always Northeastern Police around campus, and there are blue light call boxes if a situation were ever to arise. The campus is very well lit, and I never feel unsafe walking back from the library or student center alone at night. Even throughout the city, I feel safe walking around alone during the day or in a small group at night. When you first arrive on campus, you find out quickly, from upperclassmen such as your RA, which areas of the city are best to avoid, and as long as you are smart, you can easily keep yourself safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Northeastern is a great academic environment. However the environment is highly impersonal. The best part of the school is how easy it is to get research and so I give the school an eight out of ten.
Tips for prospective students I would say get involved with the community fast or you'll be left out and miss a ton of great opportunities.
Academic Rigor The courses are challenging, especially in the math and science departments however the social sciences courses are really well balanced.
Dorm Life Once again the atmosphere is highly impersonal and there are plenty of reasons to move off campus.
Food and Dining The food is good but variety is nonexistent and so its easy to get sick of the food within a month.
What to do for fun You're in the Boston area and so there are plenty of dance and fitness outlets throughout the city. Additionally there are chances to learn to sail and ice skate in the city which is always a blast. On campus theree are some nice Pools for a fun swim.
Bang for the buck The teachers are passionate and really great which make the fees and the school feel worth it overall.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Slacklining is a very popular activity. Also before finals rub the Huskies nose in Blackman Auditorium. This is crucial.
Great for these types of students Students who can handle living, studying and working at a fast pace. Do to the Coop program breaks are infrequent so everything goes at a nonstop pace.
Clubs and Activities There's plenty to do on campus if you can find the time, and its easy enough to make your own club if you can't find your interests in the massive club list.
Greek Life Virtually nonexistent.
Campus Safety I haven't heard of any complaints with campus security.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This school can offer you opportunities most other schools can't due to the coop program. Most people attend college so they can be successful afterwards and Northeastern University gives students that opportunity. Professors are often dedicated working professionals in their fields which helps enormously with career connections.
Tips for prospective students Northeastern is a school that you should go into having a decent idea of what you actually want to major in. I would suggest not attending this school if you plan on entering college as undeclared. The coop program ideally starts 3 semesters after you begin and it's foolish to waste the coop opportunity in a field you may not be interested in. Also the school is pricey and it doesn't pay if your going to waste time as an undeclared in a career driven environment.
Academic Rigor Student's must work for thier grades in northeasterns classes. Professors are always willing to help you and meet with you outside of class if you don't understnd a concept or need assistance with an assignment, but you have to be willing to dedicate a considerable amount of time to your studies. Trust me it pays off! As a rising 3rd year I have quite a comprehensive view of my field and im not even finished with school yet.
Dorm Life The freshmen living arrangements are not bad. They are completely livable but often have strict RA's. When you become a sophomore you have much more options available to you that honestly come with a lot more freedom. Housing if often a hectic and frustrating process however because of the lottery system in place. Many students choose to live off campus because of that reason. There are tons of apartments virtually on campus anyway, so its not really too big of a deal to move off.
Food and Dining Being in Boston has been the best experience for my pallet...except not really when I dine on campus. The staff are completely wonderful, however the food gets old really fast in the dining hall. Unfortunately a meal plan is required freshman year, but you can decrease the meals per week in order to get more food elsewhere.
What to do for fun Bowling, going out to eat, tons of activities around campus, get involved with a student group, hookah bars, actual bars.
Bang for the buck Northeastern is one of the most expensive Universities in the U.S. currently. If I had a to do all over again, I would say it was worth the money. Not only is it the only school in boston with an actual campus in the middle of a city, but it truly does open many doors for students that you otherwise would have to put extraneous effort in to open.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Students rub a husky statues nose for good luck on exams. We have a natatorium, and ice rink that are open for student use.
Great for these types of students Great for students who are goal oriented and self starters. There are tons of professors who love to work with passionate students with a vision.
Clubs and Activities I love student life at this school! Clubs are so active and passionate about their causes. We especially have an active social justice club called Progressive Student Alliance who are amazing!
Greek Life Greek life is on campus however their is no housing. They are fairly active however with certain philanthropic activities.
Campus Safety It is a fairly safe environment, but because it's in a city with an open campus, it never hurts to be cautious.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences As a prospective engineer in a modern world, I'm glad I made the choice to attend Northeastern University. While, as with most schools, I have had to put up with picky, foreign professors, I've learned a lot living on my own in the stellar campus located in the heart of Boston. And with professional opportunities during the school year and through co-op, I am not afraid of coming out of college employed.
Tips for prospective students Grades and scores are important - you need to show you can handle high school if you want to handle Northeastern. But don't forget to participate in activities outside of academics, such sports, science or music.
Academic Rigor It may be hard to want to do all the work and studying, especially if you engage in extracurricular activities, but if you put in steadfast effort you should not have a problem.
Dorm Life Weekend nights may get a little crazy, so don't plan on going to sleep early (well, unless you're in crew. Then I'm sorry). It's also nice to be able to choose your LLC, whether you want to live with those majoring in the same subject or just like-minded individuals like you. Just don't stay in your dorm room all day and you should easily find friends.
Food and Dining Coming into Northeastern, the dining halls were heaven compared to the grub at high school. There is definitely a smorgasbord of foods you can eat, though the classic roasted-chicken-and-mashed-potatoes meal does get tiring. And if you go with the 15 meal plan (or god, 19), do plan on wasting a few meals every week at Outtakes, as you grow tired of the d-halls, where you can get maybe $5 worth of snacks for each meal.
What to do for fun There is a plethora of groups to join if you're at least a somewhat interesting person, such as athletic teams (incl. intramurals), performing groups, chess club, community service organizations, hacking club--what have you. And being in Boston you can usually find something to do with friends, such as partying, going to the movies, or simply adventuring around the exciting city. Just do yourself a favor and don't bring in your TV.
Bang for the buck Northeastern's quite expensive, and while the scholarships you get may cover some of the tuition, you or your parents will have to take a hit to their wallet. If you're poor, you should have a superb academic record, be an amazing athlete, or come in with a few scholarships. Then again, co-ops (at least in engineering) will help you pay off your loans.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is this one cool place near Hurtig Hall where if you stand right in the middle, you can instantly hear your echo and your voice is augmented so it sounds like you're on stage.
Great for these types of students I've seen all types of students at Northeastern, though if you're lazy, unmotivated and interverted, mom's basement might be better for you :) (chances are you're not if you're considering NU)
Clubs and Activities There are really a lot of things to do, and you'll probably have to make decisions over what you want to keep doing and what you no longer can.
Greek Life Greek life is present throughout Boston, and even if you're not a brother or sister of a fraternity or sorority, and are a social person with good connections, you may end up going to a few frat parties. Unfortunately, all but one fraternities do not have their own house due to Boston regulations, though if you're considering joining, make sure you have the time as they are a large commitment outside of mass social functions.
Campus Safety In spite of the dangers within Boston, the campus is well protected. Husky police roam the campus on their bikes and you'll learn not to act suspicious if you are a suspicious person. That being said, the blue light system is prevalent and there should be no issue getting emergency help, so long as you're not wondering off into the darkness of the Fens where dangers lurk.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I really like the school's atmosphere and environment. Big campus within an urban area.
You can study as well as have fun! Boston is a super fun city!Tips for prospective students Study hard for the SAT
If you're an international student like I am, then you should score 90+ on your TOEFL to at least be considered by the admissions officeAcademic Rigor I love their co-op programs and that's why I've decided to enroll.
Dorm Life I'm a freshman and I didn't have a chance to visit the campus but I hope it'll be okay!
Food and Dining I hope it's delicious!
Bang for the buck NEU is a VERY expensive college and you need a lot of money to attend this school if you don't have any scholarships
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In Boston! What else can you ask for? A fun and diversed environment!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Northeastern is a wonderful academic community. I have felt nothing but welcome since the first moment I stepped on campus. If you're looking for a school that will challenge and excite you, this is it!
Tips for prospective students Take time to explore the campus and what the school has to offer. There are so many programs for students that often go undiscovered. Take time to get involved on campus and you'll have an awesome time!
Academic Rigor Every class that I have taken so far has challenged me. The work is challenging but not overbearing, as long as you keep up with it. The professors are experts in their field and are incredibly knowledgeable.
Dorm Life Dorm life is pretty good here. The dorm that I lived my freshman year was recently renovated, so everything is brand new. The upperclassman apartments are gorgeous, even though they're expensive it's worth it!
Food and Dining The food is really good here. We have 3 dining halls, along with various cafes and restaurants. Our International Village dining hall has won many awards and serves hundreds of different items each day.
What to do for fun We're located in Boston! There are so many things to do here! Take a ride on the T down to Faneuil Hall or to the aquarium. Northeastern students get into the Museum of Fine Arts for free! If you're into sports, check out a Red Sox game at Fenway, or play your favorite sport at one of the many gyms and fields we have.
Bang for the buck Northeastern is quite expensive, and it's hard to deny that. Even though we're really expensive, the experience you get at school is unlike any other. Our co-op program places you in real jobs and lets you get over 1.5 years of working experience and make contacts all over the world. Many students get job offers right after graduation because of co-op. So, I would say that the cost is worth it in the long run.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have the Shillman Cat. It's a statue outside of Shillman Hall of a man and his cat. It's the most random thing, but the cat has it's own twitter and people make it hats and scarves for when it's cold outside!
Great for these types of students Students that want to work hard and want to gain experience in academia and in the work force. If you want a diverse campus with different types of people around every corner, this is for you!
Clubs and Activities There are hundreds of clubs around for students to join. If you don't find one that you like, you can create your own! We have club fairs all the time to showcase the fun clubs you can join.
Greek Life There isn't much greek life on campus, partly because Boston does not allow sorority or fraternity houses. But if you're looking for greek life, it's here, you just might have to look a bit harder. I know many people involved in it that have a great time!
Campus Safety I have never felt unsafe on campus. There are call boxes and campus police around at all times.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Northeastern is a diverse school with a variety of opportunities in many fields. It is well known for it's co-op program, which often leads to job placements upon graduation. Not only that, but it's placed at a close proximity to the downtown areas of Boston with lots of things to do and see.
Tips for prospective students Apply early, including for housing. Take advantage of tours, the gym, and the free programs the university's clubs and initiatives offers. Meet other perspective students and ask the important questions, such as meal plan and class size.
What to do for fun Nearby there are plenty of places in Boston to visit, and the possibilities are endless. These not only include restaurants, but attractions, museums, shows, and festivals.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Everyone enjoys laying out when it's warm in the quad. There is also an underground tunnel that is very useful for avoiding snow in winter.
Great for these types of students Ambitious, wanting experience in the real world, diverse, and self-sufficent.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This is a co-op school so expect to find people who are driven and hard working. But that doesn't mean we don't like to have fun! You're in the middle of the city, enjoy yourself!
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. Everything is here, you just have to get out and as the Nike commercial says, just do it.
Academic Rigor The professors definitely make you think outside of the box. I'm a science major so of course the courses I take will be difficult but they are no means impossible. They are doable as long as you put the work and effort in it.
Dorm Life Dorms are pretty standard. They are a bit pricy since you live in the city but the West Villages and International Village are pretty nice.
Food and Dining Pretty standard for a normal college meal. It tastes great in the beginning but after a while it'll get old. Stetson West is my favorite cause you can make your own stir fry. Of course the lines get really long so you have to go at weird times to minimize wait time.
What to do for fun It's Boston. What's there NOT to do. You have Back Bay, Newbury, Chinatown, Allston/Brighton, Dorchester, South End, Roxbury, Cambridge...it's endless! Just don't be dumb and go out and have fun!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I am part of the Online Master Program, and it feels like I am in the classroom. The teachers are understanding that we are working professionals, trying to manage school, work and family. .
Tips for prospective students Create connections and partnerships with other fellow students/teachers early on. You may need to work in groups in the future, and it is important you have established knowledge of other students strengths and weaknesses, so you can create successful teams.
Academic Rigor The school is rigorous, no doubt about it. But at the same time, during my experience with the college of professional students, I have participated in classes with very understanding teachers. They help me to achive my academics goals.
Dorm Life I am an online student, but my fellow classmates have share with me their experience, and how the school has a very peaceful and welcoming environment for their students
Food and Dining I did visit the school, and I had the opportunity to use the dining services. To me, they were outstanding, with great variety of choices, and great hours as well
What to do for fun Boston in general is a great place to enjoy. Theater is very strong in the city, so I would definitively recommend this type of activity
Bang for the buck I think the expenses are fair and in agreement to the academic level, and the instruction received.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Northeastern is an urban university that still has a campus. The focus of the program are the co-op jobs that most students take three times throughout their five years at school. The focus is on career-track majors like engineering, pharmacy and computer science.
Tips for prospective students If you're interested in the social sciences or the humanities, you'll be in the minority. However, if you're majoring in one of the fields mentioned above, Northeastern is a great school with an awesome campus right in Boston.
Academic Rigor It's very easy to get all As if you just do the reading and show up to class. Most test questions are interested in your recall of presented information as opposed to your thoughts on the information.
Dorm Life I am in the Honors freshman housing, which is about as swank as you're going to get in a freshman dorm. The building is only a few years old, and I share a bathroom/shower with one other person. Also, the view from the top of the 22 story building is spectacular.
Food and Dining Delicious food. One dining hall has an all you can eat sushi bar (this is the dining hall in my dorm), another has a Mongolian BBQ style build your own stir fry, and another has cookies that are to die for. Dining Services recently opened a food truck with a rotating (and delicious) menu that can be found outside the library, near the dorms, or doing late night service on the quad. You will be eating well.
What to do for fun BOSTON! There are endless activities in the city. If you're interested, you can hop over to MIT and check out dorm row. If that's not your thing, there are endless speakers and carnivals put on by the various student groups. Shopping in the city is also endless fun.
Bang for the buck I have a full tuition National Merit scholarship, so I'm only paying room/board. Personally, it's a very good value because of that. However, I absolutely would not pay full tuition to go here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have the only Taco Bell in Boston. We also have a tunnel system that lets you get all around the old part of campus without going out in the cold!
Great for these types of students Pharmacy, Engineering, those who have decided what they want to study and are very sure about it.
Clubs and Activities There are more student groups than I can count. There's even an online system for keeping track of them all. Definitely no shortage of activities to get involved with.
Greek Life There are a few frats and even fewer sororities, but if you're really excited about Greek Life, then Northeastern is probably not for you.
Campus Safety The NUPD officers are stationed everywhere, and the main part of campus feels very safe, even at night. However, to get to some parts of campus you need to cross the train tracks, and those areas are less safe. You can definitely avoid it if you want to, though.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences northeastern's co-op program is amazing and extensive. it definitely sets this school apart from other schools. it gives us an edge when we graduate and makes finding jobs in our major easier.
northeastern is a big university made up of smaller schools. so it's big enough that you don't run into the same people everyday, but it's still small enough that you don't feel like you're just a number.Tips for prospective students buy used textbooks, and don't buy them from the bookstore. take advantage of everything northeastern offers (co-op, study abroad, clubs) and take advantage of living in the city. buy bed risers and a lot of storage containers. talk to your roommate before coming to school so you can coordinate what each of you will bring.
Academic Rigor how much you have to study depends on what your major is and how much work your professor expects from you. i'm a nursing major and it's definitely a lot of studying and a lot of information. the work is manageable, and though i might feel overwhelmed sometimes, i still have time during the week to relax and destress. however, i have friends who major in communications, journalism, english, etc, who can do all their work the night before it's due and never set foot in the library.
Dorm Life most of the freshmen dorms are typically 1 bedroom that 2 people share and then the entire floor shares a communal bathroom. all upperclassmen dorms are apartment styled: bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and some have living rooms. the dorm i lived in freshmen year was very friendly, and that's where i met most of my friends. everyone left their doors open so you could just walk in and meet new people.
Food and Dining there are 3 dining halls as well as a few other places on campus that accept meal swipes. the food is decent, and there are a bunch of places that you can use you're meal swipes, so you can always find something to eat. our dining halls have a stir fry station, an omelet station, a grill, a vegan section, and more. there are also a ton of restaurants/food places on our campus and nearby.
What to do for fun there's always something to do on the weekends. you can explore the city in the daytime, and party at night. there are always parties on campus, and parties at other schools. boston is a pretty small city, so a lot of the other schools are within walking distance or a short ride away.
Bang for the buck northeastern is an expensive school, but i know a lot of people who get financial aid, and i haven't heard of anyone taking out $200,000 in loans to come here.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus every year we have a husky hunt. it's basically a huge 24 hour scavenger hunt all around boston and the winning team wins jet blue tickets to anywhere in the us.
we play a sport called broomball. it's kind of like hockey except you wear sneakers and use brooms instead of a hockey stick.Great for these types of students everyone. northeastern is a big school, and everyone can find a fit here.
Clubs and Activities we have a ton of clubs and activities that you can join, and if a club you want to join doesn't exist, you can easily start one.
Greek Life we have sororities and frats but it's not that big and you don't really notice it unless you're actually in a sorority or a frat.
Campus Safety our campus is pretty safe. you have to swipe into dorms and sign in guests. nupd is always patrolling around and we have emergency buttons around campus that you can always press if you feel unsafe or want a police escort.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences northeastern is such an amazing university and is located right in boston, which is super exciting. the professors are amazing as well as the students. this is my home away from home.
Tips for prospective students here are some tips for prospective students: learn to love walking and be ready to learn! boston is a walking town, which means that's how you're going to get everywhere. northeastern has a wide variety of academia and it is open to all students to explore your options.
Academic Rigor the library is always packed with students studying, writing papers, and doing research. the courses aren't easy but you learn a lot from each one, and the skills you learn can be applied to future courses.
Dorm Life a lot of students live on campus or right near campus, so even though the school is in the city it still has a college feel about it.
Food and Dining the dining halls are pretty delicious; however, it's not mom's cooking.
What to do for fun there are a million things to do in boston for fun. go down newbury street and do some shopping, see a play, sit in boston commons or just walk around. there is always something exciting going on.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences northeastern is a welcoming place that encourages its students to reach for their dreams. i am constantly impressed by the welcoming attitude of the student body and the helpfulness of the professors. every resource is available to help you reach your goals.
Tips for prospective students make sure you manage your time and go to office hours. the more professors who know you and can match your name to your face the better. go to the tutors. go to the tas. ask too many questions. the more you know the easier it will be.
Academic Rigor it's not mit but it's tough, especially for double majors. it's been working a lot on its academics and has a great reputation now. the people are going to push you to do your best, and once you realize that you should all get along.
Dorm Life the rooms are clean and simple (as long as you keep them that way) and set up really well. i've had no problems that weren't fixed within the day.
Food and Dining the food gets boring after a while but they do try to give you a great variety and the stir fry is wonderful (even if you do have to wait an hour for it).
What to do for fun you're in the heart of boston, if you can't find something to do you're not trying hard enough. there are museums and clubs and restaurants and if all else fails just go for a walk and appreciate the city.
Bang for the buck it's very expensive. personally i have a scholarship that helps with that but for most people it's a big investment. however, you come out with real life experience and a kick-ass education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus you touch the husky's nose before exams for good luck.
Great for these types of students students who love learning and are curious about the world around them. students who are social and want to be in a place where there is always something happening and there are always people around. students who love cities. students who love boston. students who love new england.
Clubs and Activities there are plenty of clubs to join if you've got the time and there is a wide variety of people on campus so you're bound to find at least one thing you want to do.
Greek Life it's there if you want it, it's not if you don't.
Campus Safety i've never once felt unsafe on campus, even passing through ruggles at night which is supposedly dangerous. there are campus police there at all hours and especially at night.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences a valuable mix of real world work experience with a standard classroom education that better molds students to be successful in the world after school. the co-op program allows students to earn money to help fund their education and get a better understanding of the field and things they actually are interested in or not interested in. incredible program for making connections to industry leaders that set up students for future success.
Tips for prospective students take advantage of all of the opportunities that northeastern offers in networking and co-op. northeastern does a great job of preparing students for the real world rather than just learning everything from a textbook.
Academic Rigor the schools actual academic programs are improving, but not up the standards of a top 50 college yet. the faculty still needs some work but overall the academic environment can be very valuable if the student puts in the effort.
Dorm Life northeastern offers a very different dorm experience because of the co-op program. freshman year everyone lives on campus in a typical dorm that a student would experience at most other colleges, but after that dorm life gets better. almost all of the upperclassmen dorms are apartment/suite style with living rooms and kitchens allowing students to get a much more real feel for what living after school will be.
Food and Dining the dining hall food and options are getting better and better as northeastern now has three full dining halls on campus, a take-out food place that accepts meals, and a plethora of places nearby campus that accept husky dollars. the food itself is very high quality and provides many options for people with all food preferences.
What to do for fun northeastern is located right in the city of boston so the possibility for fun is endless. for the people that are over 21, the bar and club scene is bar and club scene in boston is tremendous. for younger students, their are always parties to go to and northeastern events to attend every weekend, whether it be shows or concerts.
Bang for the buck in the long run northeastern is very much worth the money because most people get jobs that set them up for life after graduation. on the bad side it is incredibly expensive and is hard to stomach as you are going through it. luckily northeastern is very open to scholarships, and financial aid and provide most students with help to fund tuition.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus northeastern has many fun traditions that keep kids spirited such as rubbing the nose of one the huskies on campus for good luck, and a strong hockey following. there is always something to do adn traditions to be learned.
Great for these types of students its great for people that are looking to find a job after they graduate, rather than pursue a p.h.d, and it is good for students who do not know exactly what they want to do because it allows students to try different jobs and see if they are what they want.
Clubs and Activities the clubs and activities on campus never end as i could honestly live off of free food served every weekend at the various different northeastern events sponsored by clubs and the school. it really has something for everyone, whether it be skiing, acapella, dance, or film.
Greek Life the greek life on campus is not strong. the fraternities and sororities are ok, but are not a central part of the school and really do not interact with the whole student body. if you are looking for a place with a strong greek program northeastern is not the place to be.
Campus Safety the campus itself has very strict safety regulations that really do a good job of protecting students; however the campus is located in a a volatile area. as long as students use sense when travelling in the area around, but outside campus, the campus will protect them.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences northeastern university is everything you could ever want from a college by combining the best of city and campus life, work and study, activities and academics, & local and global opportunities. by being a part of the boston community, northeastern allows you from day one to reach beyond the campus limits to explore other interests. plus, all of northeastern's experiential learning programs like co-op, study abroad, and global dialogues, your grasp reaches far beyond for incredible opportunities while also staying grounded in a beautiful campus that is just that, a campus, rather than academic buildings scattered throughout the city.
Tips for prospective students while academics are important, focus on what makes you unique and what you love! passion is something very widespread thing amongst the students at nu. also, be sure to visit campus! it's a beautiful safe haven in the city with plenty of green spaces and beautiful buildings.
Academic Rigor courses, while challenging and interesting, are not to a point where they are unbearable. depending on the class you can have a lot of reading or weekly assignments, or it can be purely discussion based. either way, they are intellectually challenging and really get you thinking and motivated towards your own academic and career goals.
Dorm Life the residence halls at northeastern are amazing! plenty of room, great common areas, and study rooms all in the freshman buildings. the upper class buildings are even better, believe it or not, as they are all apartment style with kitchens and plenty of amenities.
Food and Dining the food is excellent with options for everyone! i eat gluten-free and in each of the campuses dining halls (levine marketplace, stetson west eatery, and international village) they have options available to me. they also have vegetarian and vegan options at all three and a room dedicated entirely to that in levine marketplace. plus, frozen yogurt machines in each for the perfect end to every dinner!
What to do for fun there are no limits to what you can do in boston. whether you want to go to the boston symphony orchestra, a slam poetry reading, concerts, sporting events, movies, or just a walk along the charles river, there is always something to do. plus, northeastern is always hosting guest speakers and performers in addition to all of the great sporting events we have like ice hockey in the historic matthews arena (the original home of the bruins and the celtics!).
Bang for the buck while northeastern is expensive, they do offer a lot of financial aid and scholarship opportunities. besides that, you are getting an incredible education that can't be beat with opportunities like co-op that are unique to northeastern.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus rub the husky statue's nose in ell hall for a little bit of northeastern luck!
Great for these types of students there is every type of student at northeastern, but it is truly great for outgoing and passionate people.
Clubs and Activities there is a club for everything. no joke. but if you think of something new, it isn't too hard to get a new club started. there are film clubs, craft clubs, clubs for different majors or intended careers, intramural sports, and everything in between.
Greek Life although we don't have greek row or sorority/frat houses on campus, there is definitely a greek life. they host many events and fundraisers throughout the year and love to get involved with life at nu!
Campus Safety northeastern has it's own police force, nupd, while also being very close to nearby boston pd stations. wherever you go and no matter what time at night, you'll always feel safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences northeastern is situated in a thriving and dynamic city, where students are driven to succeed in its rigorous programs. the co-ops allow for students to have a leg-up among undergraduates. this career-oriented school is only the best.
Tips for prospective students if you want to get ahead career wise, this is the school for you
Academic Rigor the school's rigor depends on the students effort put in.
Dorm Life northeastern has a variety of style of dorms, that is for the most part great and convenient!
Food and Dining there are three dining halls and the food isn't too bad, but it does get old.
What to do for fun people shop on newbury street, go to quincy market, go to parties etc.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences northeastern is diverse. northeastern has incredible opportunities, but you definitely get what you give! northeastern teaches you how to be successful, and allows you to pursue different avenues of study.
Tips for prospective students don't get too hung up on one major. explore your options, northeastern has so much to offer. don't be discouraged by having to take core courses, there are so many options for each requirement, and some of the classes are ridiculously fun! use the core requirements to find a subject area that you really love, and don't be afraid to switch majors! it is so easy to do, and it is important that you love what you study. i highly recommend northeastern. it is the best decision i have ever made.
Academic Rigor again, this is get what you give. if you work hard, you will do well. some classes are challenging, while others are not. once i found the subject area that i was passionate about, i found it easy to get a's, but i work hard! northeastern holds academic excellence in high regard. we have some notable faculty, and there are so many research opportunities. i am currently involved in a research project with a faculty member who is known nationwide for his expertise.
Dorm Life this is another thing i must rave about for northeastern. while freshman housing is pretty standard, in your sophomore year and above you have incredible housing options. the west villages, specifically are to die for. state of the art kitchens, spacious living rooms, and sometimes floor to ceiling glass windows with views of the city. people definitely party in the dorms, but most partying is done in off-campus apartments, without the presence of ras.
Food and Dining food at northeastern is hit or miss. sometimes the dining hall provides really yummy dishes. i personally love taco night. there are three major dining halls, all with different cuisines. stetson west has a stir fry bar which is amazing, but unfortunately you can wait upwards of 45 minutes to receive your dish because it is so popular. by that time - i've already eaten a slice of pizza and some cookies, and am getting too full for my stir fry! fresh sushi at international village is always fun as well.
What to do for fun one word: boston. for 21+, the bar scene is unbeatable. there are all different kinds of bars, from fenway's machine night club where you can dance all night to the dueling piano bar at faneuil hall. there is a bar for every type. for the under 21 crowd, there are live shows everywhere that welcome 18+, from local musicians to visiting stars. the house of blues is one of my favorite venues. there are also great historical attractions, and tons of museums. northeastern students get free admission into the museum of fine arts, which is right across the street from campus. the museum of science is my personal favorite with endless interactive activities and always cool visiting exhibits (harry potter, artificial intelligence simulations, etc).
Bang for the buck northeastern is so expensive. i do not love how much they water the grass, and i hope that my 50 grand a year doesn't go solely to landscaping, although it is nice to have a beautiful urban campus. some of the classrooms could use some updating. dorms as described earlier are worth every penny, and there are expansive meal plan options which are not too overly-priced. having the coop program is certainly worth at least most of that tuition money, and being paid on coop helps ease the financial burden as well.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is a bronze statue of a husky (northeastern's mascot) in blackman hall, where some of the larger classes take place (as well as some club and university put on performances). before tests, it is a tradition, for good luck to rub the husky's nose. i took two classes in that hall, and i always did just that before every class, and it was cute and fun (and gave me a bit of confidence)!
Great for these types of students northeastern is fabulous for any type of student! northeastern is so diverse. from the way people dress to the coops people choose, northeastern has a fun and exciting student body. from anime kids to beach volleyball, if you have a hobby, northeastern probably has a club for that.
Campus Safety i can not rave highly enough about safety on northeastern's campus. the northeastern police department do an outstanding job. they are friendly and go out of their way to help students in need! northeastern is rated as one of the safest campuses in america (i think #2), and for good reason! it is in the middle of a city that has a reasonably high crime rate, yet northeastern's campus remains mostly crime free. discounting underage drinking and noise complaints of course.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences northeastern is a great school and offers anything any student could want. it has a co-op program which is optional but provides great work experience prior to graduation. that way, upon graduation, students have a great resume and are not only confident in their major but experienced!
Tips for prospective students apply early action and your chances of getting admitted are much greater!
Academic Rigor i find the rigor at northeastern is very hard and i have learned so much since i began attending school here. however, all of the professors encourage students to ask questions for clarification and they provide office hours for extra help. not to mention, there are many great tutoring options available.
Dorm Life the dorm life at northeastern is great, there is a living learning community where you can live in a themed group. for example, i live in women engineering housing and it is great for doing homework and meeting people with common interests.
Food and Dining the food is very good and there are many options. whether you want food on the go, ethnic food (sushi, mediterranean...) or vegan food, they cover all the options.

Tips for prospective students study hard and join as many extracurriculars as you can, but make sure you want to be doing them!
What to do for fun visit boston commons, watch a movie or museum of science, museum of fine arts. take a walk down newbury street for some shopping.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences while i believe northeastern university is ultimately trying to uphold a high standard of excellence, i can't help but acknowledge the lack of dedication and passion exhibited by the professors. i was under the impression that such a highly selective school would have more challenging courses to offer, however i can't help but feel underwhelmed and a sense of emptiness when leaving a lecture or discussion. i feel as though i am not being challenged to my full potential as an undergraduate student studying behavioral neuroscience.
Tips for prospective students it would be unethical for me as a current student to encourage prospective learners to have their parents spend the unforgivable amount of tuition on the lack-luster education received from northeastern. it seems as though the university has spent most of its focus on its co-op program and has forgotten about academics. while job placement is extremely useful for future endeavors, i would suggest actually trying to learning to see what interests you as a student.
Academic Rigor as previously mentioned, professors often hand out extra credit as if it were candy on halloween. when i do well on exam, i would like to be rewarded with a high mark. i don't like to see other students obtaining the same grades as me for doing simple extra credit assignments. oftentimes classes are scaled, which once again dismisses the hard work of students who actually put time into studying.
Dorm Life living in a dorm on campus is like living with the cast of jersey shore; every night there is more drama than one could imagine. i feel as though the ra's on duty do little to enforce rules and let the children run wild. people are less willing to meet new people and are definitely not willing to engage in intellectual conversations.
Food and Dining while i admire what northeastern is trying to do with the variety it offers on campus, it seems as though they are spreading themselves much too thin in terms of quality. furthermore, there are a multitude of fast food places to eat on campus, but there are no options for eating locally or healthily, something i believe to be a huge problem on college campuses.
What to do for fun for fun, students can go into downtown boston and explore what historic massachusetts really has to offer. in terms of on campus fun, there isn't much to do except for trying to dodge the green line trains that bisect the campus. the school provides limited entertainment and seems to pick the worst bands to play at school sponsored events (such as third eye blind).
Bang for the buck there is no bang for the buck as you would call it. the only bang you get is from when you let your face drop into your hands because you realize how much of a mistake you have made coming to northeastern.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences great school to gain some practical experience, and one of the best schools in the country for doing co-ops. it's a big school, but there are more than enough resources for anything you need help with. even though it's basically in the middle of a city, it's still retains the feel of a regular campus.
Tips for prospective students just keep studying for your classes and sat's and just try to get involved. but of course don't join 10 clubs and do 3 sports just to impress colleges; just try out a few things that seem interesting. who knows, you might wind up continuing it at northeastern, and whatever activity it is, there's a good chance northeastern has it.
Academic Rigor classes are challenging, but the professors are always available to help you out and there are study groups and tutoring available for anyone who needs it.
Dorm Life some dorms are better than others, but i don't think any of them are really terrible. if you manage to get into the honors program, a big perk is that you stay in one of the newer dorms.
Food and Dining food is great, tons of options. 3 regular dining halls and tons of other places to eat all right on campus.
What to do for fun there are tons of activities to get involved in if you want, and you can just hang out in the student center, or go downtown with some friends.
Bang for the buck it's not a cheap school, but you definitely see your tuition being used for the various improvements being made all the time.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Northeastern University is a phenomenal institution for a student to grow and develop. It is a great place for people who want to explore different options career wise. The co-op program is the bread and butter of Northeastern University, which allows a student to gain up to a year and a half of working experience prior to graduation.
Tips for prospective students Northeastern University is increasing becoming more and more difficult to get accepted into. If you are applying to Northeastern University I encourage you to go the extra mile. Show this by contacting the school and ask questions that show you are interested. Make at least one trip to Boston to visit Northeastern University tour the school and go to the admissions office to talk to staff so they can put a face to your application. Be proactive in the college application process and you will have an advantage over students that are equal to your academic caliber or higher. Northeastern University looks for students who are going to make an impact on campus and off campus once they are enrolled. Illustrate your potential by getting involved in your community and leadership within your school through student government, president of a club, captain of a team, etc. Be innovative and creative! Start something of your own! It could be anything community service project, club, group, etc. My last tip is to be the initiator at the end of the day my advice means nothing if you do not use it. I wish you the best in making the decision on attending the right college/university.
Academic Rigor Northeastern University is a challenging school but it is not difficult to succeed academically. You've heard this time and time but it is all about how you manage your time outside of class. Allocate as much time as you think to each class to study and prepare for exams, papers, presentations, etc. Whatever effort you put into your class is the grade you will get out of it.
Dorm Life The dorm life is great! Freshmen dorms are not the best but are being improved every year. Compared to some of the stories I've heard from friends that go to other schools across the nation about their dorms, I consider myself lucky. When you become upperclassmen you get a better selection of where to live and the dorms are very nice with little to know problems. The suite style dorms are the best! Most of them have two different bathrooms with a maximum of five people in one dorm, which is not bad at all. All dorms are coed, but guys and girls are not allowed to live in the same dorm rooms. People are usually respectable quiet hours so dorms are usually not noisy. If you have any problems with your dorm situation you can notify the RA or housing department and they will assist you. Overall the dorm life at Northeastern University is amazing!
Food and Dining The dining hall food is not the best and not the worst. We have three dining halls: Stedson East, Stedson West, and International Village (IV). My personal favorite is IV because of the wide selection of food they usually offer. In general cafeteria food is always going to be cafeteria food it will never be your mother's or your grandmother's home cooked meal. Don't expect a 5-star meal! Don't get me wrong the food isn't bad just not the best food you will ever eat in your life. You will get tired of eating at the dining halls it is inevitable! You can break up the cafeteria routine with the dining places around the campus. We have numerous places to eat at from fast food to restaurants and just to name a few there are Dunking Donuts, Unos, Papa John’s, Wendy's, Panera, Qdoba, Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, etc. Overall the options for food on and off-campus are good.
What to do for fun Every student needs a healthy balance of work and play in my opinion. There are many things you can do for fun depending on your interests and hobbies. There is always going to be a party to attend every weekend from Thursday - Saturday, for you party goers. You can go explore the city, being that Boston is a wonderful and beautiful place. You can go shopping on Newberry Street or take a trip downtown to go to the movies or do some more shopping. There is always the option of going to a Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox, or Bruins game if you are a big sports fan. The Waterfront is a great place to walk around and get a bite to eat. Little Italy is another good spot to go to get some delicious Italian food. The list is endless of things to do for fun off-campus. There are also things you can do on campus for fun like attend a basketball or hockey game, join a club, go to the gym, shows at Blackman Auditorium (comedy, dance, special speakers, etc.); there are also parties and other types of functions at Afterhours that you can go to for fun, etc. There is so much to do to have fun as a Northeastern student.
Bang for the buck In comparison to other institutions and what they can offer Northeastern University beats the rest. Northeastern University is one of the few schools in the US who provides its student with a co-op program. The school is in a great location and provides a well balanced atmosphere for you to learn. The reason I give it four stars is because the co-op program does need to improve by adding more jobs in different locations outside of the Boston area.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Since Northeastern University is not big on sports we do not have that many traditions. The only traditions we have are going on co-op and rubbing the nose of the husky statue for good luck on exams...well that I'm aware of. Locations on campus that I can highlight are Chicken Lou's a great place to get some good greasy food, Afterhours our student lounge that has a Starbucks in it, our food court in the Student Center, Blackman Auditorium and Mathews Arena.
Great for these types of students Northeastern University is a great place for the type of student that likes to explore different avenues of success, is an innovator, is self motivated, or who is indecisive and doesn't know what they want to do yet.
Clubs and Activities The clubs and activities that Northeastern provides and that are ran by the students are impressive. As a student you can get involved in anything that interest you and there is something out there for every type of student.
Greek Life Greek Life is not that big at Northeastern. This partially due to the way our school is structured with the co-op program and because Boston is such a huge city it makes it easier to network and socialize with other students from different institutions. So if you are worried about feeling the pressure to join a frat or sororities don’t worry you will not find that on the Northeastern Campus. If joining a frat or sorority is something that peaks your interest it is there for you to pursue.
Campus Safety The Northeastern campus is extremely safe. I feel safe at all times of the day. I have walked by myself around campus early in the morning and late at night and I still feel safe. If anything ever happens on our campus it is very minimal and is stopped because the Boston Police and Northeastern Police do a phenomenal job at protecting the Northeastern students from any harm.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a business student Northeastern's co-op program provides invaluable on the job experience. The program is a great complement to a wide range of professors who have actually worked in their fields.
Am enjoying being here Northeastern is a big school so the trick is to make it feel smaller. With the resources of a big school Northeastern is able to provide some great entertainers with Springfest being the largest show of the year. The Greek community at Northeastern is growing and I am proud to be a part of it. The only negative I would have here is the while Northeastern is awesome, it is undergoing some growing pains. You won't get the same amount of school spirit here as say a large southern school. As the school continues it's change from a commuter school to a global education leader I think the Northeastern pride will follow.
Bang for the buck As I said before the co-op program is invaluable. Sure I graduate a year later than the rest of my high school friends, but in return I get to put 1.5 years of work experience on my resume. When you are on co-op you aren't required to pay tuition. Most of the co-ops are paid and having a substantial income during college is great plus. Also Northeastern has great relations with tons of employers so getting a job after college is pretty much guaranteed. And isn't that the whole point of college?
Tips for prospective students Get those SATs and high school GPAs up if you can. Northeastern got the most applications of any private US college last fall and that number is predicted to keep rising. Also if you plan to visit the school I would do so in early fall or late spring. That's when you get to see the best side of Northeastern. I would avoid going over winter break because the campus pretty much clears out.
Great for these types of students Students who are very career focused and independent will find Northeastern perfect. If your goal is to get a job after college look no further than this university. And of course you have to be able to tolerate New England weather.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot It is a top notch school, that gives you a great education. The co-op program is amazing, and really gives you a leg up on graduates from many other colleges. The experience you gain through co-op is priceless, and really helps you land a job after graduating.
Am enjoying being here It's a great environment, with tons of fun stuff always going around. People are friendly and helpful. And being right in Boston is great with so many restaurants, little cafes, shops, tourist sights, theaters, concerts, sports games, and anything else you can think of.
Bang for the buck It is in the same price range as other top colleges, which is a lot. However, Northeastern does have a very high success rate with about 90% of graduates having a job within 9 months after graduation.
Tips for prospective students Work hard in high school! Scholarships are available, and extremely helpful. Really take advantage of being in Boston, explore the city, there's so much to do!
Great for these types of students smart, dedicated, motivated, hard-working

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning so much here at Northeastern. Not only have I felt that the classes I have taken have help prepare me for life post-graduation, but the co-op program is actually allowing me to experience it. It's a wonderful opportunity to put the skills you've learned to the test, and experiment with potential careers, without committing to a long term contract. When I first came to Northeastern, I really did not know what I wanted to do, or what career to pursue, but over the year, I've been able to uncover what I want to accomplish in the future with certainty. Furthermore, I feel confident that when I graduate, I will be able to take on the challenge of finding a job and starting life in the real-world
Am enjoying being here Boston is an amazing city to live in. There is always something to do, both weekends and weekdays. Northeastern is in a great location in Boston, about a 15 minute walk from the Prudential and Newbury street, and about 10 minutes from Fenway. Whenever I need a break from classes, I am able to find some way to get away and clear my head. There are so many diverse and friendly people here as well, who always make meeting people interesting and exciting.
Bang for the buck Norhteastern is an expensive school, especially if you are not rewarded any kind of finanical aid. Sometimes I feel that I pay too much for my education. It is important to remember that Northeastern is a private school, and that it will be more exensive if you are not from Massachusetts. Also, if you are smart with saving, co-op can be an excellent way to take the edge off of tuition.
Tips for prospective students Check out all of the clubs and groups that Northeastern has to offer. You will deffinitely be able to find something that fits you. And be sure to get involved if you decide to come. Also it's improtant to remember that if you do decide to come to Northeastern and participate in the co-op program, that doesn mean you won't get summer vacations like other schools. To me, this decision was a great one, and I love being in Boston during the warm weather months, but if you're in need of summer breaks, NU might not be the best choice for you.
Great for these types of students Another fantastic reson to come to Northeastern is for the study abroad program. If you're looking for an opportunity to study abroad, definitely consider Northeastern. There are programs all over the world, for all majors, and there are chances to go all year long. The advisor are very willing to help you, and they'll make sure you find the right program for your needs.
Northeastern is also a liberal school, so if you consider youself a liberal person, NU might be another good choice to consider.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Sometimes the classes are tough, and sometimes you are going to take a class that you don't like. However, as a sophomore I am taking the most amazing classes and learning so much that will help me achieve my career goals.
Am enjoying being here Boston is amazing. Northeastern's campus is amazing. The friends and my apartment are also fantastic.
Bang for the buck The tuition for a private college... is tough. However I chose here over other less expensive colleges because I do believe I am getting the best education here - the co op program will put me ahead of my peers.
Tips for prospective students Definitely visit the school so you can the feel of campus, because it is in an urban setting and rather large -- so it's not for everyone!
Great for these types of students Outgoing, interested in social issues, interested in political issues, looking for a great environment for college, want to learn, want to become a doctor, not looking for just a party school (although we have a lot of fun!)

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Northeastern is a good university and has the resources to provide a quality education.
Will enjoy being here I live in the country ad I'm not sure if I'm up to living in the city.
Bang for the buck It is fairly expensive but they provide a good amount of financial help.
Tips for prospective students Get good grades and build up a list of extracurricular activities.
Great for these types of students Students who are looking for a school in the city.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are excellent. They really do everything they can to make the lectures interesting and provide other materials for learning. Most of them put their lectures online, keep digital notes, and have extensive office hours. The university itself provides free tutoring from graduate students and weekly review sessions for many courses from the top ranked students in the major.
Am enjoying being here What I say to most people is that if you are bored while you are here then you are doing something wrong. There are over 50 clubs and the university holds concerts, comedian acts, and just entertaining acts all throughout the year. Northeastern also has an actual campus within Boston which no other Boston school can say. And your in Boston so you cannot go wrong with that. The campus itself is gorgeous and I honestly would not want to be anywhere else.
Bang for the buck College is expensive but Northeastern makes up for it with their five year co-op program. You make money on your 6 month co-op and you do not pay tuition and Northeastern helps you get the co-op. Room and board can be expensive anywhere but there are less expensive dorms and meal plans without starving yourself or being crammed in a small room. Part of the tuition is basically paying for the Northeastern name which is an excellent one due to its successful graduates.
Tips for prospective students Know what majors you definitely do not want to be in because there are a few majors that you are unable to transfer into after being accepted ex Pharmacy.
Great for these types of students Independent and self motivated. There are things to do but you have to find them. There is also almost always help with school work but you need be able to find and ask for it and not wait for anyone to offer, or until you fail an exam

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Northeastern is an amazing university to learn and grow as a student. With all the opportunities in terms of faculty, classes, and student life, it's so important to get involved in and around campus. Professors are very willing to help you and push you academically. I highly recommend going into the city and getting involved to see all Boston has to offer. Finally, enjoy being there! Through sports and clubs, concerts and shows, Northeastern is the perfect place to begin the next step in your education
Great for these types of students Northeastern is great for students who want to be a part of something different. This isn't your average university and as a student you learn that we go above and beyond and take on tasks much bigger than ourselves. It's a place for people who want to grow and learn more about what goes on around the world and take steps to making a difference

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Teaching Staff at Northeastern is amazing! So many of the teachers have degrees from some of the most prestigious schools in the world and are all there to not only teach you everything you need to know about your field of study but they want to make sure you enjoy every bit of it.
Am enjoying being here Our campus is within walking distance of the heart of Boston with all the shops and parks, yet even though you are living on an open campus in a major part of the city, you feel safe and secure no matter where you are. There are so many things to do on and off campus! You will never have a dull and boring moment.
Bang for the buck Although Northeastern is expensive, it has so much to offer with all of its classes and activities, the Co-Op Program and Study Abroad. It will definitely be worth it. If you do well in high school and make sure that you are involved in extra curricular activities as well you should have no problem getting financial aid.
Tips for prospective students Don't simply focus on grades and test scores!! You have to be much more than just a number on a chart to do well here. Get involved, volunteer, join a club or two, and get good grades. It's not impossible to do all of that, I did and so can you!
Great for these types of students Outgoing, Adventurous, Talented, Smart, Good with People.
Northeastern has so much to offer! Don't miss out!Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Bang for the buck The main draw of this school is the co-op program they provide, and the price-tag keeps rising because of it. If you aren't going to take advantage of that program go somewhere else to save some money.
Tips for prospective students If you aren't going to take advantage of the co-op program, this school is not for you.
Great for these types of students Interested in co-op? Go here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm in the Criminal Justice program, dual with Human services. Honestly the quality of the faculty is amazing and diverse. The combined program is rare and provides exceptional opportunities for learning as well as later in life.
Am enjoying being here Northeastern is location is pretty awesome, there's a wide range of things in the surrounding area.
Bang for the buck While it is less known in Virginia, you really can't argue with the high quality education and preparation for later life.
Tips for prospective students Good grades are a place to start, but having other activities and interests is important as well.
Great for these types of students Students that like smaller class sizes, being in the center of things, and really preparing for their future.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am an English major about to start my third year. The faculty is very intelligent and helpful. Most are willing to go the extra mile to help you with something that you don't understand. You have to be willing to put the work in though. What it really comes down to is loving what you learn.
Am enjoying being here Boston is a great city, despite its shortcomings (T only runs till 1AM and bars close at 2). Northeastern offers a truly unique experience, in that, you are getting the full college experience with a campus and the like, but are also smack in the middle of a city.
Bang for the buck Northeastern does have a large price tag. However, they usually give out a bunch of grants and scholarships, and much of the money is reinvested back into the school: they are constantly building new buildings and fixing up old ones. They just recently finished International Village, a 20 floor dorm for international students, honors freshman, and upperclassmen.
Tips for prospective students Have a good time, but not too much of a good time. Study what makes you happy. It's too much money you'll be wasting on something you actually don't like.
Great for these types of students This school is great for people who know exactly what they want out of life, or even for people who've got a few ideas. The Co-Op program gives you real job experience, which is key in finding a job once you've graduated. However, if you have no idea on what you want to do, Northeastern may not be for you.

Categories Rating Comments Academic Rigor the school is academically challenging and offers a great array of strong programs.
Will enjoy being here Everyone I have know to go here or in attendance has only good thigns to say about the school. I've been on campus a few times and have loved the atmosphere and the school itself.
Bang for the buck its a very expensive school but they really do take care of their students! the dorms are great and the facilities are amazing.
Tips for prospective students ask a lot of questions and investigate all important aspects of living. find out what dorms you'll be in and the different type of groups you can be a part of.
Great for these types of students this is a great school for students who plan on working through college or plan on being very academic althletes.
