Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here at Mesa are amazing!!! The professors and students alike are very helpful here. Academics are a major aspect of this college. If you want to go to a college where the students are friendly, the professors strict but helpful, many clubs and groups to choose from Mesa is it. Plus the weather is magnificent all year long!.
Am enjoying being here I love Mesa college!!! I have taken both on-campus and on-line courses; both are wonderful. I can honestly say I have learned a great deal in the short time I have attended Mesa college.
Bang for the buck Currently the cost is $26 dollars per unit, but Mesa offers a wide range of Financial Aid for those who qualify. With or without financial aid one receives help from incredible counselors who help one throughout one's academic career.
Tips for prospective students On-line classes are terrific if one does not want to leave to house to study, plus if one owns a laptop one can study on-the-go!
Great for these types of students Anyone! If there is anyone out there who likes encouragement come to Mesa! If you prefer to work through school yourself, come to Mesa! If you love great weather, people and professors, come to Mesa!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences mesa college has a great architectural program. the teachers are there to guide you and help you succeed. the campus also has everything a student needs from the library, to sports and even a secret cafe.
Tips for prospective students make sure you begin an education plan with a counselor as soon as you get started. and make sure to meet withy a counselor almost every semester to make sure you are on the right track.
Academic Rigor there will be some classes easier than others. but i have had a few that were very challenging and required lots of dedicated studying time outside of school. don't give up and face the challenge.
Dorm Life does not apply
Food and Dining students love the on campus cafe in the cafeteria. they have several food stands, ranging from soups, pizza, sandwiches, to mexican and american food. i personally always bring my lunch.
What to do for fun definitely join a sport! i had the best time on the swim team. it was a great and fun experience. i enjoyed having athletic goals and academic goals, you maintain a healthy balance between the two.
Bang for the buck the bookstore on campus has everything you may need. it is the best when you don't have to leave campus to buy materials for school.
Great for these types of students if you are thinking about going into architecture, make sure you are extremely dedicated and enjoy it because you will spend most of your student life in front of a desk drafting and sitting in front of a computer designing.
Campus Safety the campus is extremely safe. i haven't heard any stories about anything bad happening since i have been there.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As far as community colleges in the greater San Diego area go, San Diego Mesa College is by far one of the better ones to attend. The range from the choice of classes to quality of professors, Mesa has much more to offer than any of the other San Diego District Community Colleges (which include Miramar, Mesa, and City). I would know, I've attended all three. Mesa even supersedes the other districts such as Grossmont and Southwestern. Even through the budget cuts and all the financial decreases in the past year, Mesa seems to be upholding their standards of actually giving a decent education, as best as it gets for community that is.
Am enjoying being here The area surrounding San Diego Mesa College is known as Clairemont or more specifically Linda Vista. It's a rather lower, middle class urban part of San Diego which explains why parts of the campus are so old and outdated but due to modernizing of the school, much of that is changing. It's at best, a decent campus. The demographics is somewhat varied. Not too much school spirit, but after all- it is a community college.
Bang for the buck Budget cuts made for students to spike up their unit fees which means we're paying more for less education. However, seeing as that is inevitable anywhere you try to attend school, Mesa does a fine job justifying its fees by providing you with some teachers that actually enjoy their profession and give you more than just a lesson in the course.
Tips for prospective students Campus can be a bit confusing, but for the most part it's packed tight together once you get familiar with it. Don't risk parking close to the school because you will never get to class on time. Park at the first open spot you come across and sacrifice the walk. Check ratemyprofessors.com before choosing classes, most but not all professors at Mesa are appealing.
Great for these types of students Good college for students who want to stay focused to transfer, or to get their life back on track and go back to school. Overall a good foundation for anyone trying to either get on or stay on an educated track.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I currently took C++ and C# programming classes from Mesa online, and I did learn a lot about programming and how bad I am at programming. But at the same time the teachers and students were helpful throughout the class.
Am enjoying being here I'm just doing online classes to get some of my General education done so I can transfer to a fully online college and obtain my BS in Computer Science degree.
Bang for the buck Its community college, if you do not want to spend the high cost of what a 4 year college and private colleges make you pay stick with a community college. Mesa is a part of the San Diego Community Colleges (City and Miramar are the other two). At the time of this post $26 per credit for local CA residents is a great deal to get your GE done and go for an AA and then transfer to a 4 year.
Tips for prospective students Online colleges are great if you have a tight day and if you work full time like myself. If you go on campus, be sure to get there a bit early because parking can sometimes be limited. Overall the college is huge so you'll do a bit of walking.
Great for these types of students Just about anyone who wants to work towards an AA or get their General Education done and transfer to a 4 year and not have to pay at lot of your General Education.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Mesa College has great professors. They care about their students. The campus will look great when the construction is done.
Tips for prospective students Parking is horrible so expect to get there an hour or so early for the first month. The food is okay but I like to bring my lunch.
Dorm Life There are no dorms at this college.
Bang for the buck I think for how much money you spend its a pretty good school.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences High standards, will push students to think. I have met the best professor in my whole life at Mesa. She is one of a kind and real special.
Tips for prospective students Have a strategy, stick with even if its stressful. Then next semester choose a different strategy that is less stressful. Important, be true to yourself.
Academic Rigor I learned many things, one is how to be a strong reader. Having a rigorous syllabus, only made me stronger as an individual. In times of break I read on my own an grasp an understanding that is deep in knowledge.
Dorm Life There is no dorm life, Mesa is a campus that has many places to rest. There is no place to live.
Food and Dining Food is okay, can be better. The price is a little to high for me personally . Wish I could afford the good food they have, like the fresh deli.
What to do for fun College is not all fun and games, I personally think its an enviroment to grow. Thus, reading and studying and sharing knowledge with professors is what keeps me aheas
Bang for the buck Budget cuts are making it expense for me. Books are rising in price, the buy back rate is not the same as the orignal price for the book.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I dont see any unsual tradtions at Mesa

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The School Overall, Is a Great Stepping Stone. The transition from high school to college is not as significant as some make it seem. I am proud to say that I started my college career at Mesa College
Tips for prospective students Be Prepared. It is still college, whether it may be a community college or not. You can not come in with the mentality that it is going to be easy, or it will come back and bite you in the end.
Academic Rigor Like I said, it is still a college.
Dorm Life There is no dorms, it is a community college.
Food and Dining The food in the cafeteria is pretty decent to say the least, and I like the variety of the different choices in the cafeteria.
What to do for fun Mingle, that is pretty much the only free extra curricular activity on campus, unless you play a sport.
Bang for the buck The education is equal to that of a four year university for a lot less money.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs, and events that take place every semester, in fact one of the events, is club sign up day.

Tips for prospective students Get a parking pass early! It is worth the money because public parking is a very long walk.
Food and Dining The cafeteria on campus is delicious and affordable!
What to do for fun There are a lot of clubs and a beautiful art gallery.
Bang for the buck The teacher to student ratio is very wonderful. You get plenty of help and attention.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences It is a great transfer school. There are lots of classes offered. A nice campus with a good atmosphere.
Tips for prospective students See a counselor right away and get a plan for what you want to do. Utilize all of the resources (math lab, writing lab, office hours, reference desk in library). Arrive to class early to find parking!
Academic Rigor Depending on the classes you take and what professors you get, it varies.
Dorm Life Obviously its a CC, so there is no dorms!
Food and Dining Mesa Cafe has decent food with several different options. There are usually lunch trucks and food stands set up as well.
What to do for fun There are various clubs that you can join if that's what you're into.
Bang for the buck Get college credits for $36 dollars per unit. If you have limited financial resources, there is absolutely no reason not to go to Mesa for two years for relatively little cost and then transfer.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The library has some great spots for studying that are very quiet on the third floor.
Great for these types of students Students that want to transfer to a four year university.
Clubs and Activities I know they have them, but I haven't partaken.
Greek Life none.
Campus Safety I always feel very safe on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences San Diego Mesa College offers decent classes with many great teachers. You may have to walk up hills and stairs to reach your classes, as the campus is spread out. The night classes are generally a little more relaxed and less crowded.
Tips for prospective students If you concentrate on the lesson plan, ask questions and participate in class, and do the assigned reading, then you will not only do well in class, but you will actually learn and master the course! There are a few ways to eat cheap in the cafeteria—try the carne asado tacos! There are several good teachers, and several not-so-good teachers. Do not hesitate to switch classes because of your teacher.
Academic Rigor The lessons can sometimes require a lot of reading, which, when having several classes, can be a bit stressful. You will learn a lot if you keep up.
Dorm Life As far as I am aware, there is no dormitory for Mesa College.
Food and Dining The food is decent, although more on the pricey side. If you are trying to save money, there are a few decent cheaper menu items, including tacos, muffins, and snacks.
What to do for fun Walking around the main plaza by the cafeteria, there is often an event taking place. Sitting on the lawn between classes under a tree and relaxing is great, especially if you nap and take lunch.
Bang for the buck I would say that if you follow vigorously your teacher's lesson plan and actively participate, then you can glean so much more information than if you sit through class and argue with the teaching. There is information to be learned at a great monetary value, it is whether you use this to your advantage or not that makes the difference.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I do not know any unusual traditions or campus locations.
Great for these types of students Great for students with a strong desire to actually do well in classes and learn a lot. Not great for people who are just going out of necessity/boredom/credits.
Clubs and Activities I feel there are several ways to participate in college activities on- and off-campus. There are several clubs and organizations you may join.
Greek Life As far as I am aware, there is no Greek Life fraternities on campus.
Campus Safety The campus feels pretty safe, although I would be a little more alert during the night, especially if you are alone or are a woman. Just better to be vigilant no matter where you are at night, I suppose!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot San Diego Mesa College offers a diverse spectra of classes with professors who are highly educated in their field of study. The way the classes are taught allow students to get an in depth knowledge of the subject.
Am enjoying being here San Diego Mesa College is in a convenient location and not too far away from any place in San Diego. The campus is clean and the buildings are organized in a manner which allows students to find there way around easily.
Bang for the buck The amount per unit that students have to pay is affordable. I highly suggest not purchasing textbooks from the bookstore because they are over priced. It is cheaper to buy books at Amazon. SD Mesa College does offer the option to rent textbooks for certain classes, which is another option if you do not want to purchas a textbook.
Tips for prospective students Always review the syllabus that is given on the first day of class so you can get a head start on learning the material. Reviewing the chapters before lecture always helps. If you are waitlisted for a class, always show up early on the first day of class. Most of the time professors will allow you to add the class as long as there are available seats in the classroom.
Great for these types of students San Diego Mesa College is a great school for students who want to get their feet wet on what to expect at the university level. If you are going into the allied health profession, SD Mesa College offers many classes that will give you great preperation.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot If you are motivated enough to learn, with a good professor (like the ones at Mesa) you can truly learn. Don't expect to be spoonfed, but everyone has been very tolerable and understanding in many different situations. Being able to know your professor almost personally, and be known by your first name is a great bonus to smaller classes.
Am enjoying being here Interesting array of cultural and artistic classes. When classes are available that cater to your interests, you meet other people with similar interests along the way. It's great!
Bang for the buck Despite recent raise in attendance cost(s), a community college is still going to get you more for your money. It is a wonderful way to save money while you are deciding what your next step will be & still get a good education in the meantime.
Tips for prospective students Just because you aren't living on campus like other peers at full-on universities, does not mean you shouldn't be social. Be open to new experiences and get involved!
Great for these types of students self-motivated, diverse, friendly people :)
