Most of the teachers I've had have been great and are dedicated to helping their students. It may be a party school, but don't be fooled - the classes can be rigorous.

    Am enjoying being here

There are so many things to do. What with all the clubs, the ARC, pool, bowling, concerts, and nearby beaches, there's no way you can get bored.

    Bang for the buck

The recent increase in cost of registration was kind of a bummer, but it's still affordable.

    Tips for prospective students

If you live in the dorms, definitely make use of your free gym membership. Also, check out the plays put on by the theatre department, or go watch the student film festival. Periodically there are also free movie screenings on campus.

Great for these types of students

    Active, outdoorsy/adventurous, social, studious

I have definitely learned new information and facts I did not know prior to attending SDSU. All professors are unique with their own way of helping students learn the material. Professor's office hours are so helpful and fitting to your schedule, and if they are not professors go out of their way to make a personal appointment to meet with you at your best time. The Lovely Library is amazing, it offers so many resources for your project needs and something very special that not many libraries have are it offers a 24 Hour Study Area! This study area is open to all SDSU students needing that extra time to finish up their studies or school work.

    Am enjoying being here

You will never have a dull moment at SDSU! Events are constantly being held for all students year round. The gym is a fantastic place to go exercise and release stress and energy! The ARC offers a relaxing environment to take a swim and be with friends. There’s even a bowling arena which includes a pool table and arcade games for all of you gamers out there!

    Bang for the buck

Recently tuition went up along with many other CSU's in California, so make sure you have some money saved because SDSU is fantastic but it’s also expensive. It's definitely worth the money though.

    Tips for prospective students

For all incoming freshmen i strongly recommend that you live on campus at a dorm, it’s a fantastic way to make new friends and to find people who you can live with your sophomore year. Plus you’re much more involved in campus activities when you live at the dorms. Campus activities are so much fun and a great way to be social. Activities include carnivals, concerts, casino nights, dances, games, BBQ's, outdoor movie nights and much more. Also by living in a dorm you receive access to an AM (Academic Mentor), this person can help you plan your upcoming semester classes, give you advice on school work, look over your schoolwork and much more, they are a great resource for freshmen.

Great for these types of students

Students that love nature scenery will love SDSU. The college is full of beautiful nature which includes hundreds of different types of plants, flowers, and trees. In the middle of the school is a coy pond full of fish and turtles, this pond is so relaxing to visit during a break or just to lie down on the grass and take a nap. If you want to go outside the college area there are beaches and parks in very close distance. Students that want or are interested in joining a fraternity or sorority, our Greek system is fantastic and has a huge range from the Pan-Hellenic to cultural fraternities and sororities. I’m sure you’ll find one that is perfect for you; it’s a great way to be social and make new friends! Active students will enjoy the many different sports SDSU has to offer from division to intramural sports, or for those who love attending sporting events our men’s basketball team is a sight to see.

    Am learning a lot

I feel like I am learning a lot not only because of the professors but because of my own effort. All the professors I have had are very intelligent, each with their own knowledge in certain fields. They provide you with all the information and help that you need to successfully and fully understand the material.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being here because of the location in San Diego. Its not to far of a commute from my house and it close to many places in that San Diego Area. I also like the weather and I have met many nice and helpful students.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you visit the campus first to see if you like the environment. Meet new people and surround yourself with good group of friends that you can work with throughout the semester.

From my experience the professors are entertaining and informational so class isn't completely boring.

    Am enjoying being here

There's always something to do here, its a very relaxed environment. You can always find someone sleeping on a bench or in the grass, or playing music. We have a bowling alley, our own gym, intramural sports. There is a farmers market every Thursday, great food, produce, and even clothes. There's lots of ways to meet new people.

    Tips for prospective students

Once you get to college, any college, study study study. Don't put off studying until the last minute, it doesn't work trust me. I never had to study in high school because I learned all I needed to know in class but, in college you only get half the lesson, the rest you have to teach yourself by reading your text book. Practice good study habits! I can't stress that enough because no matter how smart you are if you don't study, when the test comes you won't understand anything. Tests are basically your whole grade so do good on those and you will be fine. If your planning on working during school, find a job on campus, it pays well and they work around your class schedule. Don't overwhelm yourself by taking too many classes at once. I recommend taking 12 units (approx. 4 classes) so you can get a feel for the college experience and still qualify for financial aid. By taking less classes it also allows you room for extracurricular activities.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being there very much. The campus is beautiful and mostly all restored to make it more of beautiful campus. There are many clubs and activities around for you to do and join. It is guaranteed that you will never be bored and that you will learn a lot.

    Bang for the buck

Not only are you getting an amazing education for the price, but you will be getting a campus that is filled with school spirit and activities. It is similar to getting an Ivy-League school education for half the price.

    Tips for prospective students

Be sure to fill out the FAFSA ecause SDSU is very gracious with financial aid. Also, be sure to get involved in something fun when on campus. It makes school a lot easier.

Great for these types of students

This is an AMAZING school for Pre-Nursing students. SDSU is one of the top nursing schools in America. They also have an amazing Pre-Med advisor.

With such a large university, there are so many interesting classes and majors.

    Am enjoying being here

There is so much to do at SDSU and in San Diego. With so many diverse people, you will love your four years here! Definitely get involved your freshman year, with clubs, student government, and sports.

    Bang for the buck

Being a Cal State School, tuition is extremely low for the great professors you will meet, the many services you get for free, and the gorgeous campus.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to apply early! Rumor has it they stop viewing applications after they receive a certain amount. Make sure to research the new admission requirements, they just changed them.

Every class at this university can be applied to the real world. The professors and teaching assistants have a genuine interest in their field of study and enjoy informing others about their passion. Also, the student tend to be very adamant about learning and helping their peers learn.

    Am enjoying being here

San Diego itself is a wonderful place to live. San Diego State University is just as great, except the beach isn't in our backyard. However, the atmosphere of this university and the people make the experience at SDSU one of the best I have had in my life.

    Bang for the buck

I'm sure this is a fairly typical statement for most college students nowadays... Stop raising the registration fees! Just this past month we had a student panel about raising the fee for the Student Health Services Center. Associated Students wanted to more than double the fee! Well, thanks to the input of the students and staff, that initiative did not go through. So make sure to be involved in your university's decision-making process!

    Tips for prospective students

If you're going into any field of study here, prepare to be challenged. Though the material itself isn't so hard to understand, and the workload is not unfair, the atmosphere of San Diego can suck you in and take hold. Make sure to prioritize your life. The cost of the institution should say it all; College is important!

Great for these types of students

Social and fun, San Diego State University is perfect for those who would like to break out if their shell, make new friends, and get a good tan ;) It does take a bit of work, but in the end, it's totally worth it!

I am actually learning a lot here at State. Even though I am from San Diego and I didn't want to go very far away from home, I am glad with the decision I made. If you are from San Diego and you choose to go to State, I'd live on campus if you could. You really get out of your comfort zone and even though you are from the same city, it is like as if you went away for college. Plus all the teachers are friendly and the Resident Adviser will help you with any questions you may have.

    Am enjoying being here

I am enjoying it here a lot more than I thought. There is so many things you can do on campus like going to the Arc, which is the gym, to going to the Aquaplex, which is this really nice place where you can swim. Also there is even a blowing ally on campus! How cool is that?? It is amazing here!

    Bang for the buck

Even though college is expensive, San Diego State is a lot cheaper than a private school or even a UC school. And on top of things, San Diego State University is one of the best state school in California!! So you are getting a good education for going to a state school!

    Tips for prospective students

If I were thinking about where I wanted to go to school I would make sure to check out the schools that I am applying to. Also make sure you like hot weather because San Diego can get pretty hot. Also just remember then when signing up for classes you make sure these are the classes you need to graduate with your major.

Great for these types of students

San Diego State is perfect for students who love warm weather!! There is a bunch of public transportation which can take you to almost everywhere around San Diego. Also it is a great school for students who want to pursue a degree in almost anything. San Diego State appeals to almost everyone and you should come check it out!

The classes are great! The campus staff offers tons of help to pick out your classes to make sure you are utilizing your time and expediting your stay here on campus. I am currently taking Sociology, Political Science, Spanish, Communication, Rhetoric Writing Studies...these class are great and have GREAT professors that are there for you. Everyday I love going to class because there is so much knowledge to be had. I believe that I have had an extraordinary academic experience at SDSU and am hopeful that my experience will continue throughout my four years here. If you want to learn with the best of the best then come to SDSU.

    Am enjoying being here

I feel like I am having the time of my life. My roommates are my best friends and I am excelling in all my classes. I feel myself getting closer and closer to my life long goal of finding a great career. I can give my college full credit for the reason why I am heading in the good direction that I am. SDSU, I feel is my main supporters of my success. I have worked my entire academic career on getting into a great campus and I know that I have made the right choice by going here.

    Bang for the buck

Though college in general tends to be a pretty pricey experience. The Cal State System tries to limit the fees and make it a more affordable experience. The FAFSA help me but I did still have to take out some loans, but with the experience that I am having it is all worth it. I love every minute I am here on campus. I believe every penny is worth it. If I chose to go to a local community college because of the costs I believe I would not be as successful as I am today, because I believe I am paying for the experience and in hand with that boosts my education. So when someone asks me, Is it worth it? I would reply yes every time.

    Tips for prospective students

Live on Campus. The housing on campus is amazing. THe rooms are clean, big and it is the best way to meet new people. Along with the housing you are given a meal plan as well, which makes it easy and convenient to get any groceries you need. This campus is safe. Another peice of advice I have for you is to get involved and utilize what our campus offers. We have a state-of-the-art gym with sauna and rock wall. This makes it easy to get fit. If you are not the type to get on a treadmill and run, SDSU also has a huge aquaplex and bowling alley that offers fun and easy ways to get in shape.

Great for these types of students

SDSU is great for any type of student. If you are more of a bookworm, our campus offers a wonderful library with abundant quiet areas to get your work done. If you are more of the social type then our school offers many on-campus events that are free of charge and are lots of fun.

Despite what most people say about the difficulty of learning in large classrooms, the amount of learning that goes on within is tremendous. Yes maybe you wont have time to ask 10 questions in class, but every professor has set aside office hours for students who need help, guidance, pretty much anything they can help you with. SDSU is filled with some of the most amazing professors who really care about their students success and learning and are passionate about their subject.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus of SDSU is very beautiful. There are many places on campus that you can go to relax and de-stress. The people that go here are nice and laid back. The location of the campus is prime; just 10 minutes away from pretty much ANY beach, the best malls in SD, food, downtown, etc.

    Bang for the buck

I know tuition it is pretty expensive, even for instate. But the way I think about it: I'm paying for my future. Don't be afraid to use your resources, there are so many! I talk to my professors about any questions I may have about the class or even about my future plans. They are there to help, so why not use them?

    Tips for prospective students

Don't let freshman year GPA bring you down! It may be hard to adjust to the college style of learning but come in expecting that and it will be easier for you to adapt to it. The classes you take freshman year will be some of the easiest you will ever take and it will be a shame to miss out on a GPA boost.
Talk to your professors! I can't even say how important it is. I know some may be intimidating, but that's their job so don't be afraid. Trust me, if you talk to your professors when you have questions (about anything!) you will be very thankful you did.

Great for these types of students

Ambitious, studious, outgoing, laid back, social, antisocial....Honestly, this school is good for any student who wants to go to college and get a great education and an unforgettable, unregrettable, experience!

Despite the large class sizes here at San Diego State University, the teachers are willing to set aside office hours for students to attend and receive help. A lot of subjects offer drop in tutoring, if you come prepared with questions and the assignment details these tutors are willing to sit down with you and help you understand and make your work better. Also, there are Star Centers, a quiet study room with resources such as printing, computers, and internet, located in some of the dorms.

    Am enjoying being here

I am enjoying it here at San Diego State University because there is always something to do, the teachers care about my education, and a lot of the school sponsored events are free to students as long as you have your RedID. Living in the residents halls allows me to meet people in my age group that have the same type of classes, and allows me to make friends with people I will see almost everyday.

    Bang for the buck

Despite the financial crunch in the education system, San Diego State University has been able to eliminate furlough days, days where professors take an unpaid leave from the school, aren't allowed to have contact with students, not even answer emails. San Diego State University offers a variety of events often school sponsored free to students.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are out of state be sure that you are ready for the rough experience of being away from home and your family. Be ready to spend 3 hours of outside time per each unit you are taking. Try to find a group you are interested in joining, or possibly an intermural sport.

Great for these types of students

Great for students looking for a bigger, diverse campus, hard working, and willing to join a group. Students should be prepared to study three hours per each unit they are taking, and utilize the campus resources such as drop in tutoring, the Star Centers, and Love Library.

The classes here are definitely challenging especially if you start slacking off. There is a lot of reading (mainly because I'm an English major) but it's always really interesting. Although there are certain sets of required classes we need to take, there's a wide variety of other courses you can take as well so there's always something that you can take of interest to you.

    Am enjoying being here

Even though I was freaked out the first week I was at this school, I soon adapted to everything really well as did everyone else that I know. It's been really fun living in the dorms with a bunch of friends who you can always visit. Also, there is always something to do here whether it's something put on by the school, going to a party, or just hanging around with a bunch of friends from your dorm. As long as you try to get involved with everything that is almost handed to you, you'll never be bored.

    Tips for prospective students

Whether you're ready to get into the college life or are scared out of your mind to be away from home, everything will work out fine. Yes, that sounds cliche but everyone I know has adapted incredibly well to college life. It feels just like home and no one really feels homesick either. Sure there are times when people miss their families and beds but that's about it. Also, just a heads up, if you're one of those people that take really long showers, that won't work here too will because I can guarantee and that, since these are communal showers, you will want to get out of the shower as quickly as possible.
Also, just remember that you're going to have less space in the dorms that you did at home probably and therefore you shouldn't bring every single thing in your room but then again, don't just bring the bare minimum either because then you'll feel like you under packed; bring the necessities as well as some things you really like and just want to have to do in your spare time but the more stuff you have, the messier your room will look.
The meal plans are kind of crazy and there's so much food on campus that you will not go hungry. However, it is definitely nice to have some snacks stored away in your room for those late nights or weekends (depending on your meal plan). The freshman 15 is definitely not a myth either so take advantage of your gym membership as much as you can.

    Will learn a lot

The environment is so welcoming and diverse that I know I will learn so much not only from my professors but from the students I'll interact with everyday. I was accepted into the Honors Program and it is great to know that SDSU has a program like this one that opens up so many doors for its participants. I am extremely excited to attend especially since study abroad is mandatory for the program!

    Will enjoy being here

I've lived in San Diego since I was 3 but I've never fully had the chance to experience this amazing city. So many people come here for vacations and spring breaks, but I live here! I cannot wait to roam around and enjoy my college experience.

    Bang for the buck

SDSU is one of the best state schools anywhere. My estimated cost of attendance is $23,232. For the education I will be receiving, I'm willing to pay this much (with help from grants, scholarships, and loans). Anyone can go to a humdrum university and pay $45,000 and still not receive an education as good as mine. I am very proud to say that I will be an Aztec.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't limit yourself by thinking you have to go to a University because it looks better or you have to go to community college because it's cheaper. You need to find your perfect fit and limiting yourself early on will only hurt you in the end. I told myself as a freshman that I would never lower my standards and go to anything lower than a prestigious university. During my junior year, I took a trip up the coast of California visiting universities and state schools to help us gain some idea of what we were looking for in a campus. During that trip I fell in LOVE with UC Merced, Berkeley, and UC Davis. But, on that trip I learned that just because I like a school does not mean it is the perfect fit for me. Not all of the schools I wanted had my film major and not all of them were affordable. SDSU offered me so many opportunities that I was looking for all in one school. They are the perfect fit. Think of it like the perfect spouse: you may have had your ideal image since you were a child, but when Mr. Right walks in fitting everything you want and more, you gotta go for it!

Great for these types of students

Laid-back, hardworking, enthusiastic, determined, social, flexible, accepting, understanding, unique, artists, writers, filmmakers, engineers, business people, etc. Anyone will fit in and find their niche at San Diego State University.

    Will learn a lot

I have taken an introduction to social work class at SDSU and I learned a lot. The instructor was fun and resourceful but demanded a lot of attention and commitment to his course.

    Will enjoy being here

This school is full of social events so you always have something to do every night of the week. The extracurricular, sports, and student government make it an exciting place to attend.

    Bang for the buck

At SDSU you get the quality professors of UC universities but with the cost of a state school.

    Tips for prospective students

Remember that you alone decide what type of education you will have regardless of where you end up attending.

Great for these types of students

Great for students looking to get a quality education and have fun at the same time. SDSU is at a prime location and is full of fun, energetic students ready to have fun.

    Will learn a lot

I strongly believe that in attending SDSU, I will attain the sense of self-sufficiency that I will need to succeed in life. The fact is clear that it may be a challenge being out there on your own with little assistance, but you have to remind yourself that the curriculum is not as rigid as the the ones held by the UC system.

    Will enjoy being here

I definitely believe that I am going to enjoy the experience at SDSU. I will do everything that I enjoy doing in high school, but in college at its own scheduled time. This includes playing trading cards games such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, weight training, studying at the library, and hanging out with my friends on the weekends.

    Bang for the buck

In terms of cash spent, I strongly believe that this is the best-suited choice in the CSU system. My AP Government teacher that I've had for a couple of years wouldn't be reluctant to agree, because he's the one that told me this fact. Despite tuition increasing each year at a noticeable rate, its affordability is far ahead from those of UC schools.

    Tips for prospective students

My only tip for fellow students that plan to attend to this college is this: do not, by any chance, get distracted. SDSU is known as one of the leading party schools, and let this come off as a warning. Your main purpose in attending a four-year university is for you to study hard.

Great for these types of students

I strongly believe that this kind of university is good for those who are self-sufficient and sociable people that can afford to maintain a balanced lifestyle.

It is usual to get a bad teacher at any college, or a teacher that does not teach to your learning style. I found that this has happened to me at San Diego State but I find more frequently that the professors here and the teaching assistants like to make learning as easy and as fun as it can be for you as a student. They know how hard it is to go to college and balance all the rest of your responsibilities.

    Am enjoying being here

I love going to school in San Diego. The school is in a closed off enough area to keep you from distractions during the school week. However there is great transportation such as the MTS trolley and Bus stop located right on campus which will take you almost anywhere you can imagine in the area.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition and housing prices go along with many of the other CSU's however if you like to cook and make your own meals and you live on campus you can find this to be expensive because of meal plans. However if you are okay with eating in the dining hall or going to one of the many campus restaurants the meal plan seems very reasonable.

    Tips for prospective students

A tip for you as a prospective student would to be trying out on campus housing for your first year. It is a great way to meet friends and get involved in campus activities.

Great for these types of students

San Diego State University is a great college for the types of students who like to have a fun learning environment. I find it easy to get a professor to relate to your needs.

    In three sentences

Very colorful and lively! You will never be bored here, transportation is accesible with the trolley being on campus which can take you to 2 different malls which is very convenient. Academically strong.

    Tips for prospective students

Prepare for large lecture rooms and I suggest having a laptop to bring to class or a voice recorder to review once class is done. I brought my bike to campus and I can get from one side of the campus to the opposite side in 5 minutes! Saves time and walking in the crowd can make you late to class.

    Academic Rigor

Depending on your major and your professors! I am a pre-nursing student and classes are very strenuous and impacted.

    Dorm Life

I met most of the friends I have now in the dorms! I loved dorming because of the diverse people you meet. This lifestyle can really change a person and really teaches you about yourself.

    Food and Dining

The food can get tiring but taking a ride on the trolley to different areas can open up the variety! I this on a monthly basis so I never got bored on my choices of food to eat.

    What to do for fun

3 different beaches within 15 minutes! The Gaslamp is a nice little area to hang out at and accessible with the trolley. Downtown SD is fun to! The Viejas holds multiple concerts in the arena all the time. The Open Area Theatre allows some students to even sit outside to hear a band without even buying a ticket. If you're into the party scene, Fraternity Row is never quite.

    Bang for the buck

With budget cuts and rising tuition, a student really has to put in the effort with how much this school costs. I wouldn't go here if you plan on commuting and not be able to hang around campus and make use of every resource possible.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Turtle Pond is a serene area to relax and take some time to yourself! I love that area, it seems as if everyone who sits around there knows to be gentle and calm.
An unusual tradition is the undie run at the end of every semester!

Great for these types of students

Energetic, outgoing. Hard work ethic. Balanced.

    Clubs and Activities

Depending on your college there is a large variety of clubs you can join! Greek Life is very popular here.

    Greek Life

    5 stars. Very active!

    Campus Safety

If you have class at night you will see some security roaming around. If you feel uncomfortable there is always the campus van that you can call that will pick you up and take you to your desired destination.

San Diego State University is an extremely intelligent crowd of people! Don't let that fool you, though: We love to get our education in during the week and let go on the weekends! SDSU has whatever you're looking for, whether it be quiet, peaceful areas or loud, drunken fraternity parties.

    Tips for prospective students

Focus your first year in school. The easiest classes you're going to take are your freshman and sophomore courses, so use the opportunity to get your GPA up while you can!

    Academic Rigor

It really all depends on the professor you get. I highly recommend using ratemyprofessor.com before registering for classes. A bad professor can make or break a class (and your GPA) for you.

    Dorm Life

I never experienced dorm life except for the occasional visit, but everyone I know says it's an extremely rewarding experience. It is also required if you are not from San Diego, unless you attend a community college concurrently (which is what I did). The dorms are a great way to meet people when you come to a place where you don't know anyone, because everyone else is in your same boat.

    Food and Dining

We have fairly decent dining choices here at SDSU. Our student center is actually torn down right now and they are planning to put some great new restaurants in there. The only downside is it can get pricey and some of the meal plans leave you with a lot of left over money that just goes to waste at the end of the year.

    What to do for fun

There are always events going on around campus. Each semester, there is something called Aztec Nights where each Friday, there is a free event put on my the school for anyone to attend. Basketball games are huge here at State, since our team is a-mazing! We also have a concert venue on campus where a lot of big name artists come and people from all over San Diego attend these events, not just students.

    Bang for the buck

I actually came from out of state, so I was paying a lot more for tuition than the residents of California. Even now that I have in-state tuition, it's extremely expensive for someone like me. The only thing that makes it worth it is getting a teacher who I felt actually taught me something or a class that I feel was worth my while.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

We have the undie run every year during the last week of school. Everyone takes their clothes off and runs around the school in their underwear and all the clothes are donated to a local charity afterwards. It's fun for the students and rewarding for the charity!

Great for these types of students

It's great for any type of student, really. We have a wide variety of teachers here, so just find the program that suits you!

    Clubs and Activities

There are countless organizations on campus. If you want to be involved, then you can find something for you: Guaranteed!

    Greek Life

Greek life is huge here at SDSU. I'm not in the greek system, and I can probably name the majority of the sororities and fraternities here on campus just because of how important greek life is here. That can be a good or a bad thing, depending on who you talk to. There are some from each side that are arrogant and some that are really nice! You just have to find your fit, like everything else!

    Campus Safety

SDSU has its own police force, so safety is pretty high here. Whenever anything happens on campus, an alert is emailed to every single student so they are aware what is happening around them. We also have the blue light system on campus, which are emergency posts where you can press a button and it will alert the police station where you are and that you need help.

san diego state is the perfect setting for the ultimate college experience. every aspect of sdsu is made for students to excel. there is always something to do no matter what you enjoy.

    Tips for prospective students

since the csu application does allow essays, you have to be able to make the most out of a very standard application that many other prospective students are using. there are not many ways to make yourself stand out so make sure you try to join as many clubs as you can and keep your gpa up. sdsu is getting harder and harder to get accepted into and the average gpa of admitted freshman is rising considerably every year.

    Academic Rigor

the academics at sdsu are not too difficult but they definitely require attention. whether you go to class and pay attention the whole time and never read the textbook, or just read the textbook and never go to class, you will probably be able to pass the course. for higher up courses the rigor gets much more intense however and you can be spending all your free time studying. it honestly varies on the professor though.

    Dorm Life

the dorms are goo for one thing, making friends. there are too many rules enforced on the residents to enjoy living in the dorms. you are allowed only 3 guests at any time and you have to check them in at the front desk. if you check in a guest anytime after 9pm or before 6am it is considered an overnight check-in. any one person is only allowed two overnight check-ins a month. don't even consider bringing alcohol in. almost everyone that does eventually gets caught and then you have to deal with judicial meetings and probation. the condition of the dorms aren't fabulous either but they are livable.

    Food and Dining

there is a ton of selection for food on campus. three starbucks and multiple big name food places. the dinning hall is good as well. they always have a pretty big selection of food and have themed nights. the waffles are amazing and they have those every day.

    What to do for fun

there's not much to do around campus for fun. the beach requires transportation as do the malls and movie theaters. a lot of people get involved in the greek life here. there is some type of party going on any day of the week for those that enjoy that. the university also puts on aztec nights events that anyone can go to. they have included things like a carnival, dance, and stand up comedy shows. if you search for something to do, you can manage to stay entertained.

    Bang for the buck

its pretty expensive and tuition continues to go up drastically every year. its still worth what you're paying in my opinion. the only thing that isn't worth your money is the dorms but first-year freshman are required to live in them so there isn't much of a choice about that.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

there is an undie-run at the end of the semester after finals that a lot of people like to participate in. the turtle pond is really cool as well. its a nice place to go relax after class or in between classes. the new aztec center is being constructed right now and when it opens it should be really nice.

Great for these types of students

people who are fun, outgoing, and like being very social. everyone here is incredibly friendly and easy-going.

    Clubs and Activities

associated students is very big here. they put on all the activities that happen throughout the year and a lot of people like getting involved with it.

    Greek Life

greek life is huge. everywhere you go you see girls in their sorority tanks and guys with their fraternity gear on. they tend to keep to their separate sororities/frats and don't socialize with many people outside of them. the frat parties are easy to get into whether or not you're in a sorority though.

    Campus Safety

the campus safety is okay. if you ever need an escort you can call the escort service and they will pick you up from anywhere on campus. there are also emergency stations around the campus with blue lights on the top that one can go to in an emergency and get a police response. you see police patrolling constantly thoughout the day and night.

    Will learn a lot

At first I was so scared of the high numbers in the classes, coming from a smaller public school, it is a big jump for me. But the more I talked to my friends going there and people around the campus, it seemed like it wasn't that big of a deal. Most said their biggest class was around 40-50 people. Not that bad for SDSU being as big as it is. As far as I hear, most of the professors are also very approachable. I don't think anyone will have a problem learning here as long as their head is in the game and they stay on top of things.

    Will enjoy being here

The only reason why i didnt put 5 stars is because of the unknown factor! I am very confident that SDSU has the right kind of mixture for success. It's doable finance wise, it's got a great social atmosphere, and the school is one of the best state schools to go to.

    Bang for the buck

For being a state school thats near the ocean and has quite a few well-off majors and has one the biggest study-abroad programs to date, it is a decent bang for the buck. as long as you graduate...i'd say its all worth it in the end.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to visit the campus...but dont be intimidated by size. The first time I stepped on campus I said right awayNo to my mother. after taking a tour and going to a few other campuses that were much smaller than SDSU, I realized that I didn't want to know an entire campus by the time I moved in as a Freshman. I wanted to find new things and not get bored. I think SDSU, after awhile, won't be so big after I explore.

Great for these types of students

Anyone really. Studious, Outgoing, Independent, and Ambitious people will really excell here I think. (but even the opposites of these will probably find their niche... I mean theres got to be someone who feels the same way you do. There's a lot of people.)

SDSU is an amazing college! I am extremely happy with the curriculum and the professors are extremely knowledgeable in the subjects they teach. I highly recommend applying here!

    Tips for prospective students

Apply to all the scholarships you can, it will make a huge difference when it comes time to pay for school. Get involved in campus clubs because employers love to see someone who is both socially and scholastically involved in their school.

    Academic Rigor

For each class, I recommend spending a few hours a day studying the course materials and completing the homework for each class. The syllabus is a student's best friend in that it lays out the whole semester and its requirements in one page.

    Dorm Life

I do not live in the dorms because I am a transfer student, but I know from talking to others that dorm life is nice at SDSU!

    Food and Dining

There are a myriad of food choices on campus! We have two dining halls and several independent coffee shops on campus, as well as a mini mart, so there is no excuse to go hungry.

    What to do for fun

SDSU's main page always has activities listed for that month on campus. Getting involved in campus clubs allows one to have access to events on and off campus as well. I also recommend signing up for courses at the Mission Bay Club, which give you college credit for surfing, sailing and swimming!

The university has a beautiful campus. However, when I visited, the students do seem like they are on task until the parties start after dark. The teachers seem legit enough and I cannot wait to begin the school year and go there.

    Tips for prospective students

My main tip for students who think that they want to go there would be to actually visit the campus during school hours and getting a feel of the atmosphere around the other students that are already attending there.

    Academic Rigor

I got in with a 3.3 weighted with AP classes and exams. I also had extracurriculars and were head of two clubs of my high school campus.

    Dorm Life

I heard it was fun to dorm there, but it is just not for me because I live close enough to commute.

    Food and Dining

Food there is excellent. They have a freshman fifteen saying because once a freshman gets a meal-card, they tend to pig out on the good food and on average gain about fifteen pounds their freshman year.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of places to eat, go out with friends, and party. If you have a car you could drive to the zoo, Balboa Park, or Sea World. There is plenty to do in San Diego. It's incredibly hard to get bored when you know the area a little bit better.

SDSU is an excellent school, but is becoming increasingly impacted due to the high volume of students and the shrinking number of classes. Recent economic troubles have caused the school a great deal of trouble, as it the case across the spectrum of publicly-funded institutions. Despite this, the campus is lovely and the professors and, on the whole, helpful and highly qualified.

    Tips for prospective students

The school is becoming increasingly difficult to gain acceptance to. For those hoping to transfer, keep in mind that there is a followup application due in January.

    Academic Rigor

Classes are, for the most part, challenging and engaging. A wide variety of subjects are available and the degree programs require a wide range of coursework.

    Dorm Life

I am a commuter student and cannot rate this category.

    Food and Dining

There are many places to find food on campus, including a number of Aztec Markets and a variety of fast food options such as Panda Express and Subway, among many others. The student center currently under construction is supposed to include a restaurant and/or pub as well.

    What to do for fun

San Diego is an area with many diverse options for amusement and relaxation. A wide variety of beaches are available, as well as many amusement parks, theaters, clubs, and other places of amusement.

    Bang for the buck

Despite rising tuition costs, SDSU still provides an extremely economical alternative to the inflated fees at private schools and many other public universities as well.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The turtle pond in Scripp's Park on campus is a lovely place to relax and read between classes. The shady environment complimented by the many turtles and koi fish in the pond makes is very welcoming and relaxing.

Great for these types of students

SDSU rightfully has a reputation as a party school, but it is also a wonderful option for other types of students as well. I am a commuter student and I find the trolley station on campus extremely convenient.

    Clubs and Activities

The student government and the various university clubs hold regular events.

    Greek Life

I have little knowledge or opinion concerning this topic.

    Campus Safety

Campus police maintain a constant presence around campus. Whenever crimes occur on campus, campus police contacts all students and faculty via email with the details of the incident and offering a line of communication for those with information concerning what happened. Students may request a police officer to escort them to their car at any time of the day or night. On the whole, the campus is very safe.

This school is helping many students peruse their dreams, while also giving them the chance to get a great education.

    Tips for prospective students

I would advice students who wish to attend SDSU or who are going to be prospective students. To be really motivated to get an education and ready to study hard. This school can be a party school but you must also be driven to learn.

San Diego State University has a lot to offer to its students, besides the great education there is clubs, activities, events, and other things students can get involved in. Diversity is something it takes pride in, and I am proud to say I belong to such a school. It is quite a large school, meaning as a student there is less focus on the individual and more on the entirety of the group.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved. Your college experience will not be as memorable if you just only attend classes. University has so much more to offer than education. Clubs and activities are a great way to meet new people. Taking time to experience everything that there is to offer will make the next four or so years the best years of your life. So definitely take the time to see what is available, and of course pursue what interests you.

    Academic Rigor

The classes are challenging yet entertaining at the same time. Of course there is going to be subjects that you may not care about, but that is one of the perks of being in college. For the most part you get to choose the classes you take. The teachers that I have had thus far have been great.

    Dorm Life

I lived in the dorms the first year as a freshman, and it was the best idea to do so. I made so many friends, and it really allowed me to feel comfortable in a new environment.

    Food and Dining

The food is definitely good, and there is a lot to choose from. Although I wish there was more healthy choices, instead of so much fast food.

    What to do for fun

There is so much to do for fun. I personally joined multiple clubs, and social activities. Also fitness is important, going to the gym can be a lot of fun. Especially with the group classes, aquaplex, and rock climbing wall. Going to sporting events and concerts is also a lot of fun. There is so much to get involved with and do, all you need to do is check it out.

    Bang for the buck

If you are purchasing things from the food courts or bookstore with your own cash it can get quite expensive. Most of the time I choose to stay away, and purchase things off of campus.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is a lot of historical sites on campus. Like the turtle ponds, Mediterranean gardens, Hepner hall, or Scripps cottage. Lots of little places like this really create the beautiful atmosphere that is SDSU. There is the statue of a dean a long time ago, during finals students rub the top of his left shoe for good luck.

Great for these types of students

SDSU is great for all types of students. Since it is such a large campus with lots of students, anyone is bound to find people they get along with or activities that they enjoy. Plus it is in the heart of San Diego. There is so much to do around this beautiful city, not to mention it has fabulous beaches. If you do not like warm, sunny weather then perhaps SDSU is not for you.

    Clubs and Activities

Clubs are always trying to recruit new members into their clubs. There is a wide range of clubs available on campus. They have weekly meetings, and events planned all the time. They have a list of all the clubs online, and it is definitely worth checking out. Especially if you want to be a part of something and that Greek life is not something you are looking for. Plus clubs are usually pretty inexpensive to be a part of. There is also always activities going on. Competitions, games, music, farmer's market, themed weeks, and so much more. There is always something happening on campus.

    Greek Life

I am not a part of the Greek life, but there is a very large community that is at SDSU. They celebrate Greek week, and are always trying to get new members. There is many Greek organizations to choose from, including social, educational, and business fraternities/sororities.

    Campus Safety

Every once in a while there might be crime, but that is pretty rare. SDSU does its best to ensure that everyone is safe, even at night. The campus has blue lights all around campus, so if someone is in trouble they can get help very quickly. Also they offer to drive you back to your apartment or dorm if you get out late in an evening class.

San Diego State University is an awesome choice for students that love outdoor activities because the weather is nice year round and the beach is only a half hour away! It's a huge campus with an enormous student body so there are a wide variety of clubs and organizations to join and meeting people is super easy. Finally, San Diego is a major tourist destination so there many attractions near by like Seaworld and the zoo.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should be prepared for having classes with up to 500 students in them. It's nearly impossible to receive individual attention and lectures with hundreds of students can also be distracting to the learning process for some.

    Academic Rigor

The classes I have taken at this university have been quite interesting, but not very challenging. The wide variety of courses make for a diverse learning experience.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life isn't the greatest but is still something that all freshman should get to experience. The dorms range is size and quality and the suite style dorms are awesome because they have their own living room and kitchen area.

    Food and Dining

Dining in the traditional cafeteria is mediocre at best. They do try to have a variety of cuisines available but the best bet are the restaurants located on campus.

    What to do for fun

The weather in San Diego is awesome and the most popular thing that students do for fun is go to the beach. The campus is only a half hour away from downtown and many other attractions like professional sports arenas, shopping, and the zoo, so there are a variety of activities close by.

    Bang for the buck

This isn't too highly priced for in state residents, but for out-of-state students it is extremely overpriced. At such a huge school many classes have up to 500 students so individual attention is nearly impossible. Many teachers are focused on their research instead of teaching and have their teacher assistants do most of the grading and tutoring of students.

Great for these types of students

This is a great choice for students that are residents because it is relatively inexpensive. Also for anyone that loves going to the beach or surfing because the weather is great year round.

    Clubs and Activities

Their are a huge variety of clubs and organizations that students can join and they can also start their own. Attending sporting events is probably the biggest activity that students participate in, especially going to the football and basketball games.

    Greek Life

Greek life is great for students who are interested in being a part of it. Their are a lot of parties and events that they host and it can be a great way for new students to meet people and get involved in campus events.

    Campus Safety

Since the campus is so big and is located in an area of San Diego that isn't very nice, safety can be a problem. Although there are on campus police they don't ever patrol the campus or parking areas so crimes do happen.

By far it is the most enjoyable experience. Even though I came from the San Diego Community College District, the atmosphere at SDSU is more mature and willing to befriend a military veteran. I'm proud to hear the good news when the media reports on my university.

    Tips for prospective students

The best advice I would give is to smile to everyone that walks by you. It is an easily reciprocated gesture and makes it eventually opens people up to conversation.

    Academic Rigor

I am very well challenged at this university. I have added more study time even though i work full time in the Marine Corps. However, as I have been taught from my mother, with no struggle there is no victory. At this rate I plan on being victorious.

    Dorm Life

I live out in town with my family of three. However, I look forward to when my kid joins the alumn. He speaks of attending when his time arrives.

    Food and Dining

Because of my work hours I am only able to take night courses so I am unable to experience the dining facilities.

    What to do for fun

I have attended the Aztec football games. They are a great time especially when you participate in a tailgate party. I haven't been able to attend a basketball game because of my night classes but I am sure I am destined to attend them with my boy.

    Bang for the buck

I won't talk about books because those things are boo-koo expensive. But I do believe that the college supplies are within proper costs. Stadium prices are what is expected.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Unfortunately, work and night classes tend to take away much of my experiences during the daylight activities of the campus. I look forward to these experiences and traditions since that is what most institutions are founded upon.

Great for these types of students

A young and strideful life mixed with the San Diego weather makes for an awesome combination. It is a college experience that is well controlled and supervised.

    Clubs and Activities

I have not experienced any of these activities but will do so soon as I am do to retire from my beloved Marine Corps soon.

    Greek Life

I cannot tell of the Greek Life but it sounds interesting enough for me to inquire about from my classmates.

    Campus Safety

Since I attend night courses, there is plenty of illumination throughout the campus. There are emergency call boxes throughout the campus to give students and staff the sense of security needed to walk freely to their destination.

If I were to rate SDSU on a scale from 1-10, I would definitely give it a 10. The location of the school and the architecture of it is beautiful; not to mention the people are friendly and the majority of teachers are helpful. San Diego State University is a great school that has numerous opportunities for the students just waiting for them to engage in.

    Tips for prospective students

Tips that I would give to prospective students would be to get involved in the school, make friends, and get close to your teachers. San Diego state has so many different fun events for students and I believe everyone should get involved and attend them, like the football and basketball games. Second, I would say is make friends with your classmates a majority of them will be in your classes again if it's a class for your major so become friends. Friends will also make the college experience more fun and enjoyable. Finally, talk to your teachers and go to their office hours, it will help you to do well in the class and later in school when you need letters of recommendation.

    Academic Rigor

I would give this school a three out of five on the rigor. Yes, San Diego state is not an easy school, I mean it is college, but not all classes are hard. Many of the teachers make the class so that it is bearable and achievable to get an A. The hardest classes at this school would be the sciences.

    Dorm Life

The dorm life is always active and has so many fun things going on. I would tell everyone to join a dorm especially if you are from our of town because you will make so many friends.

    Food and Dining

The food is great at SDSU, they have every type of food that one can imagine. There is Greek food, Italian food, Mexican, Asian, and a convenient store where you can buy meals as well.

    What to do for fun

There are so many fun events to do at SDSU. I would say that the sports games are the most fun and the most attended events on campus. There are also other events for the first month of the fall semester such as a carnival and other fun things.

    Clubs and Activities

The clubs at this school are fun and very helpful, I suggest everyone to get involved in them. The clubs will help one to meet people and attend volunteer events while having a good time. The people in the clubs all usually have the same interest or major as you so it makes the people more relatable and understanding.

    Greek Life

San Diego state university is filled with Greek life every where. There are numerous weeks where the different fraternities and sororities have booths trying to get people involved. These are great opportunities for freshman to get involved and make friends, the bond you share with these guys or girls is forever.

    Campus Safety

The safety here is great, there is an on campus police so there is always help and assistance if needed. The police are very helpful and kind and are always willing to assist someone in need.

San Diego State University is a beautiful campus with a twist of Spanish missionary architecture. The academics exceed that of most other schools with majors from astronomy to zoology. There is a rich student life on and around campus that will never make a student become bored with activities.

    Tips for prospective students

Become well-accustomed to this large campus; take the time to explore every corner as there may be places you will never see by the time you graduate. Always be open to meet others because everyone is friendly, especially the staff. Also, register early so that you can get your classes before it fills up!

    Academic Rigor

While it may not be Harvard status, it also isn't another community college. While academic rigor may also depend on your major, always prepare yourself for a journey of hard work.

    Dorm Life

Crazy fun. The students in dorms love to share the fun and are willing to invite anyone to any activities. However, the dorm rooms may make you feel like you're in a prison setting. There are rigid rules that limits number of guests and hours they can stay.

    Food and Dining

Restaurants are everywhere! On campus we have Chinese, Italian, Greek, and a taste of Southern California Chicken food. There are multiple coffee joints around campus to fulfill students caffeine cravings. There are even more restaurants right off campus.

The food on campus is a little pricy but with the meal plans freshman are required to have it's okay. Once off the meal plan, depending on if one can cook or not, its better. Books and classes are expensive, but it is a four year university.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The aztec recreation center is the tradition that the majority of the students take part in once attending sdsu. It's the gym. It becomes a great stress reliever, a nice social spot, and a way of life.

Great for these types of students

Once on campus, one can walk to any class in a matter of 10 minutes. Class sizes are about 100-300 students for general education classes but tend to decrease as one gets more into major classes. Many clubs and activities are available for those wanting to get involved, as well as plenty of study and quiet space for those wanting to get away.

    Clubs and Activities

I participate on about 5-6 intramural teams throughout the year in football and soccer. The programs are run very well and are organized.

    Greek Life

I am currently in Sigma Phi Epsilon as the Vice President of Finance and wouldn't have it any other way. The greek life here is very social and is very proactive in helping out the surrounding community. I have no negative comments about the greeks here other than the fact that I wish there were more!

    Campus Safety

I have been going to this school for about three years now and have never had a problem with my own personal safety. I have had friends who have had their bicycles stolen, but other than that it's great!

San Diego State is a nice college with beautiful campus. The teachers are passionate about their classes and are there to assist students in excelling in their academics. The dorms are nice and the food is pretty good.

    Tips for prospective students

Check out the campus and walk around the buildings. Drop in on any classes you may want to take as a student, and see if it all works out for you.

    Academic Rigor

The classes can be challenging, but they are manageable. If students set time aside for homework and put the effort into studying for tests, they will be fine.

    Dorm Life

I live in Chappy at San Diego State. It is a nice dorm, but about a twenty minute walk from all the other dorms. Everyone who lives here is really bonded with their own floor and people mostly stay in the social group of their floor. However, the whole building is very friendly.

    Food and Dining

San Diego State University has two markets on campus as well as two others by the dorms. The markets sell a variety of foods from fresh fruit to chips and salsa. There are also two food courts on campus and a dining hall by the dorms. The dining hall food is generally pretty good.

    What to do for fun

For fun, students can go to the sports games and support their school. Football games are fun, and especially basketball games. Basketball games are a big deal for San Diego State and the tickets usually run out and the stadium is packed full of students and locals.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

San Diego State has a nice turtle pond on campus by parking structure four. The turtle's aren't always out, but they are fun to watch when they are. The pond is also filled with large coi fish.

    Campus Safety

I have never felt threatened when on campus and we have a police station located almost on campus.

State has a great opportunities both academically and in the area of campus life. Take your classes seriously and allow enough time for studying and to take advantage of the professor's office hours for the more difficult classes and you'll be successful academically.

    Academic Rigor

The professors are reasonable and do a good job of adapting their grading scale to the difficulty of the class. The education offered is definitely legitimate and can be challenge. You get the most out of the degree you get.

    Dorm Life

I do not live in the dorms, but I've heard good things about dorm life. The dorms seem conveniently positioned in relation to the main campus.

    Food and Dining

SDSU offers a wide variety of food, from fast food to more healthy choices. The on campus convenience stores provide even more variety.

    What to do for fun

There are plenty of campus opportunities in the forms of clubs and organizations.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition is very reasonable and the education received seems legitimate - both challenging and quality.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is nothing I am aware of that fits in this category.

Great for these types of students

State is great for both the academically-focused and social butterflies. State offers great research programs even for undergraduates. Additionally, there are plenty of organizations and clubs to join for those wishing to get active in the community.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a variety of offerings for any interest.

    Greek Life

Greek life is big on campus and a focus of social life.

    Campus Safety

While the large campus makes the campus a little dangerous at night, there is campus security. The application of the buddy system - or just avoiding cross campus journeys at night - makes the campus completely safe.

For being a first year student i never imagined i would learn so many things. Throughout all my classes i have learned a variety of things. This is not only because it is college the professors are very supportive and show enthusiasm when teaching the subject. Most professors make learning better. Now I look forward to going to class because i know i will always learn something new.

    Am enjoying being here

I love San Diego State and i am enjoying it because I'm involved on campus. It is always a good idea to either be very outgoing and/or be involved on campus but it does not have to be something boring it can be something that you are interested in. There is always something to do on campus you just have to look for it.

    Bang for the buck

Even if San Diego State is a little costly one can manage either with grants, scholarships, loans, of work. The even better thing is that if one works they can work on campus and have flexible hours depending on you academics.

    Tips for prospective students

For incoming students i advise you to go to your counselor whether it is college councilor which is the one for you major or related majors, or the school councilor, also always go to office hours they are very helpful don't be worried about asking dumb questions just go so the professor knows you. Also get involved on campus there are a variety of options to choose from and one will meet your interests. Do not procrastinate if you do everything on time and study early it will be a lot easier. Lastly do not think college is the time to screw up because it may even ruin everything be cautious about your decisions and you will succeed in life.

Great for these types of students

San Diego State is a great school for students who want to become independent and experience something new. For students who like a broad variety or options. Great for the ones who want a beautiful campus to have their education in. Who want everything close together. Finally to meet great people.

You will definitely learn tons of skills to carry with you for a lifetime here. Even though you have to be self-motivated, the professors care about you and make sure they make time to help you. The classes are challenging enough to keep you on your toes but with a good mindset, it will be a piece of cake!

    Am enjoying being here

There's always lots of fun things to do here and they encourage getting involved with the school from day one. I suggest checking out all the clubs before you commit to one because there are a large variety of people to meet.

    Bang for the buck

Unfortunately the Cal State system is getting more expensive but SDSU tries to make things easier on students. The on-campus communities always have free food at their events and during the week, you will find festivals and farmers' markets on campus to get cheap, good food.

    Tips for prospective students

SDSU has a bad reputation as a party school but it really is all about the way you conduct yourself at any college. With the right attitude, you will make tons of friends, have a great time in clubs and volunteering and get all your studying done on time.

Great for these types of students

It's a good school for outgoing people who love working out and being outdoors. They have a stellar location close to hiking grounds and the beach and even offer credits for learning to surf and paddle board. It's also a great school if you love to socialize or have a desire to be in the military or ROTC. San Diego is a military city and they have a great detachment of Army, Navy and Air Force ROTC's at SDSU.

I believe I would learn a lot at this school. It offers all the classes I would need to complete my desired major. It has an excellent speech pathology program which is what I am planning on pursuing while in college.

    Will enjoy being here

I've had many family members and friends who have gone to this school (including my parents and sister) and have collected wonderful memories and great friendships through this school. It's also in such a great and exciting town with so much to do!

This school completely falls in to the budget my family has set up for my college education funds. And not because of any fault in the community- just because it is a California state school!

There are a variety of classes offered to fit each student's interests. Every professor is different, but all want to see their students succeed. They are helpful and more than willing to help when asked.

    Am enjoying being here

There are numerous social activities and extracurricular groups available to join and take part in... a little something for everyone!

    Bang for the buck

Tuition rates have increased about 30% in the last three years. Due to budget cuts, some classes are only offered once a semester and sometimes once a year. Some classes are eliminated all together and majors are becoming impacted. However, SDSU is still the cheapest state university in California.

    Tips for prospective students

Most classes have 100-200 students, but there are smaller classes of 30-40 students. Make sure you don't mind having large class sizes because the classes tend to be less personal and the professors are more detached. Also, SDSU is a large campus so make sure you don't mind a large student population. Join clubs and get involved in campus activities to get the most beneficial college experience.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for outgoing students due to the large student population. This school also has a great teaching program and nursing program so students with those prospective careers should apply.

Pay attention to the professors they're there for you. Most of the teachers are really passionate about their studies and tend to forget about their students, meet up with your teachers a least once a week. During study successions its hard to find a place in the Love Library so plan on getting your own laptop.

Of course being that I have yet to attend a class at this university, I have heard from a multitude of different people that the education to be granted to those who earn them will be very useful to them in their future.

    Will enjoy being here

I know for a fact the area is excellent. The environment is easy to work around being that there is the beach nearby and the weather is never too hot nor too cold. It will definitely be an easy place to adjust to.

    Bang for the buck

Even though most other schools in CA seem to be affected by the recent budget, its seems to me as if SDSU has found a way to keep up the quality of education as well as their facilities. The campus is nice and the education one will earn from the educators is well worth every penny--its just AN INVESTMENT IN YOUR FUTURE! What you take from SDSU into the world will be useful to you, especially when it comes to choosing a career.

    Tips for prospective students

Go with the school you are most comfortable with. Make sure you are comfortable with the environment of the campus. That is the main thing, is that you yourself are happy, because students do not learn well if they are not genuinely happy.

The amount you learn here depends greatly on the classes you register for, but not necessarily how much you time or effort you put into any given class. For instance, I feel I learned a lot in my Philosophy class last Fall just by sitting and listening to the professor, while I worked my butt off in Chemistry and got very little out of it. Register for as wide a variety of classes as possible. Still learning more than in high school.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is very pretty, but much of the surrounding area is not. Some people are also very nice, but you also get the SoCal mean people. Just depends on who you meet. Most of the dorms (the cheaper ones anyway) are also extremely old, except for Cuic, where the Dining Hall is just ok. Still, you're in San Diego, so you aren't going to get any better weather.

    Bang for the buck

Despite the constant increase in CSU tuition, there is still no better investment than in your education. With that said, the CSU system is failing and is constantly finding more and more ways to squeeze every dollar out of every student whether it's supplies, textbooks, or meal plans (you're going to lose money with all the plans except the most expensive one). Work hard to get your money's worth.

    Tips for prospective students

The #1 thing I learned about applying to colleges is that most schools (except for private ones and a few others) admit you based on the major you declare, so your chances are solely based on the seats that school has for that major. Therefore, a school's acceptance rate really has nothing at all to do with its competitiveness. Look into how many seats your school of choice has for the major you are applying to so you can get a better idea of your chances.

Great for these types of students

If you love the sun, can't get into the UC's (or can't afford anything more expensive than a CSU) and don't want to party unless you're in a frat, then this school is prefect for you.
