Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In the beginning, they schedule your classes for you your first semester. The classes I got scheduled I really wasnt interested in and didnt think I would enjoy but I changed my outlook because I learned that a professor can make it or break it for the class. Most of the classes I didnt think I would like, turned out i did. I have learned alot in just my first semester. The teachers push you to learn alot which isnt always a bad thing, and most of them give you breaks and extra credit!! I also realized that most of my classes even though they are very different somehow tie together in different ways which is really cool.
Am enjoying being here Shippensburg University is a great college to attend. Not only are the people really friendly here but, the professors are also. I live two hours away and Im not homesick at all. They really try to bring you together and make you feel involved in the SHIP family. There is alot of school pride here with I reall enjoy. I met so many new friends while staying in the dorms. The college has a union building where the activities committee is constantly running new and excitings things like comedians ( some that even performed on Comedy Central like Dan Cummins), bands ( Hit the Lights), movies ( Hangover and Orphan), and so much more. The CUB ( or Ceddia Union Building) has a quiznos, Chick-fil-a and a burger and pizza place. There is even a little convenience store where you can buy milk and snacks. They constantly have different people selling items there too. I just bought a blacklight poster for 8 dollars when i found it online for 20! And if you are a starbucks fan, we have one, right in the front of the library! Everyone at Ship seems to want to help you like the library staff and even the older students. We have 2 dining halls, one that was just remodeled and it all you can eat. I just feel really comfortable here especially as I walk around campus and constantly see people I know.
Bang for the buck Shippensburg is a state school which means it is cheapest for PA residents. Its about 14,000 a year which is actually pretty cheap now. They have a great education program and what really sold me on the school was the elementary school they have on campus where you can observe starting your freshman year. Ship also has a newly built rec center where there are 4 basketball/volleyball courts, a track , machines and weights. Its really nice because students get to use it for free and with the meal plan you receive 200 flex which you can use many places around campus.
Tips for prospective students Great school, you should really check it out!
Great for these types of students Education majors, Biology majors ( 2 yr program then transfer), Chemistry Majors and any general majors like history, science, business, psychology.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot For my first semester I took biology (my major), world history, human communications, math, and psychology. I got to choose the classes I wanted at orientation (which is where I met one of my best friends), and scheduled them and everything. So far, I really enjoy psychology and biology. I've learned a lot in psychology and it's been pretty fun. I loved biology, but it ended up being too hard and I had to drop the class, which also means I have to change my major. I haven't learned much in human communications, but I blame the teacher. I was pretty dumb to choose a foreign teacher for a kind of english class. I don't like my math class, but it's because it's developmental (meaning I didn't do well enough on my SATs to get into college algebra), and I learned everything that the teacher is teaching us in high school. World history is pretty tough, I don't really like my teacher, he's extremely serious and mean, hard to keep up with, and a tough grader as well. I'm looking forward to next semester to try out some new subjects and new teachers. I just have to get through finals!
Am enjoying being here I honestly love it here. The people are so friendly, teachers and students included. I've made tons of new friends and it's been so easy making them. I live in a dorm so I'm constantly around other students and it's just made life here that much more fun. We have all kinds of activities in our hall and I couldn't imagine commuting, it would have been a completely different experience. I've heard tons of complaints from commuters saying that they're not meeting anyone or making any friends. Duh! It's because they're not living on campus! Coming just for classes isn't going to help you meet people. The activities on campus are so fun, like the Mr. Shippensburg Pageant. It was so much fun and extremely hilarious. Watching the guys up on stage. YUM. I also went on a trip to Kings Dominion with a couple of my friends. The trip was done by the university, so it was safe, and we went for the halloween day and the park had all kinds of scary rides and attractions. Also, it was only $20 for the whole trip, because it was done by the school in a group! Cha-ching!
Bang for the buck I think SHIP is really worth the money. You get a true college experience here, and it's a great school. The food is pretty good and the classes are worth the money, if you choose the right teachers. You can also get a job pretty quickly after you graduate, I've heard. It's definitely worth your money and time. Enroll at SHIP!
Tips for prospective students Don't mess around because you think it's going to be easy. AP classes in high school most likely didn't do college justice; mine sure didn't. Be sensible, if not, once mid-terms and finals come around, you're gonna be screwed. Take good notes and pay attention. Don't skip your classes because you're tired, you'll regret it later. I currently am in a class where we have a quiz each day, and those points add up! If you do need to miss a class, make sure you have a friend in the class to let you know what happened, and if you have a good excuse (like if you're sick) e-mail your teacher and they will excuse your absence, and won't take points off for participation or presence. Don't go out and party often. Tons of my friends have gotten caught and gotten underages. Be smart, people, cops are watching. Schedule your classes carefully, if you don't like getting up at 8am, don't schedule an 8am class. You'll end up not wanting to go. Your advisors might tell you at orientation that early morning classes are the smallest, total liars. Once they tell you all that, everyone wants an early class, which means it's going to be quite a big class.
Great for these types of students SHIP is great for students who didn't do well on the SATs (in my case because I suck at test-taking) but try really hard and want to get a good education, as well as have fun.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I already completed my freshman year and I have to say, I learned alot more than I expected! The best part was that everything, more in the second semester, started to tie together. I could relate better to something in one class because I had learned a bit about it in another. They also pack in a lot of information in to each class and the professors are there every step of the way to make sure you get it right. The teachers are great and they really try to help make sure you understand the material.
Am enjoying being here Shippensburg University is great to attend. The are set in a small town that lives for the college and it really shows. The school pride is outstanding and the community is proud of each and every student. It's a fun environment with lots to do. There's a Rec Center for any sports or activity related stuff, an auditorium that holds concerts and shows by famous people (we had B.O.B, Willy Nelson, and SO much more), and a food area that serves so great meals. It's like living in the ultimate town complete with amazing people.
Bang for the buck Ship is a state school so it's cheaper to go here if you live in PA. Tuition and room and board just went up this year but it's still more affordable than most colleges and the experience you get is worth every penny. With all this school has to offer it's students it's a decent price. As with any college, it is pretty expensive; but it's cheaper than most.
Tips for prospective students They have an awesome sight called Ship Underground that gives you a heads up on profs. It tells you how difficult they are, what they teach, and the average course load if you have them. It also provides student's oppinions and gives each teacher an overall rank. You can't choose your fall semester classes for your freshman year but definately look into it anyway, especially for your spring semester. It lets you know what your in for your first semester and helps you decide which teacher you want in the semesters that follow.
Great for these types of students This school is great for any student but especially to those that would like feeling like part of a community. Ship is small enough to feel like a home rather than a school; yet large enough to meet new people everyday. They have activities to fit every personality and it's a great time there everyday. It's for every student that's ready to get a good start to their life and career, without feeling like they are in an ocean.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This university is a great way to start off the college year because the size of the campus. Thus, creating an environment where the student and teacher relationship are easy to sustain and more accessible due to the small nature of the campus. Even though the students are not necessarily home, depending on where a student lives and who the surround themselves with, Shippensburg University is a home away from home with great experiences and other surprises that are in store for whomever wishes to attend the campus.
Tips for prospective students Do not over pack because taking everything back is going to be a hassle. Students fail to realize that the teachers are going to be treating them as adults, therefore it is all up to the student to get their work done and make a schedule to follow to help them better prepare themselves.
Academic Rigor The rigorousness of a class depends on how the student learns and how the teacher teaches the class. I have taken some really intense classes and others were easy to pass because the teacher knows what they are talking about and how to present it. Also, the major of a student affects the students' ability to do well in a class.
Dorm Life The dorm life is fairly well, depending on who the students' roommate is, their Resident Assistant, and Resident Director. The Resident Assistants attempt to encourage students to come out and meet the people in the rest of the dorm or to help the students out in the . The Resident Director is there to help maintain the building and build a community for the residents to enjoy.
Food and Dining The CUB is not the best place but people eat there if they don't feel like going to a dining hall. The food is not the best but it is not the worse. Certain days, the food will taste amazing, while other days students will eat less.
What to do for fun APB, Activities Program Board, schedules planned events for the entire campus to come out and enjoy. Majority of the programs are free or reasonably priced. They make sure there is fun almost every weekend without having to go very far.
Bang for the buck It is worth it for the trial if college is right for you or not.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are no traditions made up yet.
Great for these types of students Business and Criminal Justice, because the programs are centered around those majors.
Campus Safety The campus PD is always there to help when a student is in trouble. They take their job seriously and are there for the welfare of others.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Be sure to apply early and, if possible, take the classes they offer the Summer before your freshman year. These classes not only give you a preview of what the heavy workload is going to be like, but they also give you more credits which matter most while scheduling.
Academic Rigor The professors at Shippensburg University are not the type to just hand down answers to the students; they really make you work for your grades and it pays off in the end because you actually know the information. Certain professors, however, take their general education classes too seriously and make you jump through hoops just to pass.
Dorm Life Living on campus is wonderful. It provides students with friendships they would not have made otherwise. The Resident Assistants are amazing people who are always willing to help. They enforce the rules when needed, but they also plan fun events in the resident halls for the entire campus to enjoy.
Food and Dining There are several options for dining on campus, two dining halls as well as the Raider Room located in the Ceddia Union Building (CUB) which is similar to a mall food court. After awhile, the food gets a little boring, having the same options every so often, but the employees in charge of what's served in the dining facilities try to diversify the menu and ask for student opinions.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Shippensburg is a fairly conservative area and the University follows suit. However, while some people are close minded that is something that will be found everywhere and it is essential to be able to relate and listen to everyone's opinions. The biggest aspect that stands out about Shippensburg University is how nice and caring everyone is towards each other despite opinions.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for a liberal arts school, this is not the university for you. However, if you are looking for a good education and great people to be surrounded by, take Shippensburg into consideration. Also, do not let yourself fall victim to the myth that you absolutely have to get smashed every weekend!
Academic Rigor This absolutely depends on what you put into your studies. You can slide by here but that is exactly the grade that you will receive. For the average student, it is most likely a 3 out of 5 stars. For me, I am a double major, take as many classes as possible, work part-time, am involved on campus, etc., etc. so it is a 4.5! Join as many organizations as possible, including the Honors Program!
Dorm Life I was only on campus one year and not in a normal dorm so I really do not know much about this. Plus, all new dorms are being built for next year! They are environmentally friendly and look fun at least.
Food and Dining There are not many restaurants around here. For dining off campus, you almost have to go to the next town over, Chambersburg.
What to do for fun The campus organization APB hosts many events throughout the year. Fabolous came to campus last week, for example. Also, bus trips are organized for a low price to New York, Baltimore, etc. Hiking and nature trails have no limit around here.
Bang for the buck Shippensburg University has one, if not the, lowest tuition rates in the Pennsylvania state system (PASSHE). The professors know what they teach inside and out and are willing to help in any way possible, provided you ask them for it. There are so many resources available as long as you put the effort into finding and utilizing them.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Amish, horse, cart and all, come through town all the time. They are an integral component to the Shippensburg area just as the University is.
Clubs and Activities While there are multiple Christian organizations on campus, there is also a Jewish and several multicultural organizations as well. There are several environmental groups as well, not to mention each major has its own organization.
Campus Safety I have not heard of any incidents occurring on campus. However, we have had several stabbings or attempted stabbings off campus lately so the police have upped their security measures. This is extremely unusual however and the accused are thought to be from Chambersburg.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Shippensburg University is a very welcoming and friendly campus. The classes are small so it provides for more one-on-one interaction between professors and students. It is located in a rural community with many essential amenities located within walking distance.
What to do for fun Sports emporium, Chambersburg mall, mini-golf, Cluggies, plenty of dining locations, many sports fields, indoor recreation, well-equipped gym

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Shippensburg is a wonderful school! They have some really nice faculty here that are more than willing to help out. I don't have much experience with other colleges, but they really break down what courses you need to take for each major.
Tips for prospective students They have a math and an English entry test if you do poorly on either of those on the SATs or the ACTs so don't worry that that may effect your chances! Don't be afraid to ask questions or to come in as undecided, there are a lot of people (students included) that will help you out! They also have tutors for courses and subjects; don't be afraid to use it. You are paying for it anyway!
Academic Rigor It really depends on what major you have and what professor you have as to how hard it is. I have found some classes appropriately challenging, some extremely easy and I have found some that were just outrageously hard.
Dorm Life The current dorms are really old. Mowrey Hall, in my opinion, is the best dorm; it is right by the main dining hall and the take out food place, it is close to the library and it is near the parking lot. The dorms tend to get stifling hot in the winter when the heat is on but if you keep your window cracked, it cools it down without freezing you out. They are currently in the process of a new dorm project, the first open in the spring 2013 semester. They look really nice and are generally suite style! The RA's are pretty cool, they can become your friend very easily. Everything is explained and they make sure that you understand it. They have activities at least 2 or 3 nights a week. The activities can range from study sessions with one of the RA's who is a major in that subject, to watching TV shows down in the rec room (on the big screen TV), to extra credit activities and to random free food at a random hour of the night. I enjoyed it! I am actually a little sad to have my own apartment next year.
Food and Dining Reisner's food is pretty good given that it is buffet style. Sometimes the food is bland but I honestly like majority of the food they serve. They have many options to choose from: pizza, pasta, salad, soup, make-your-own-sandwiches, a hot buffet menu that changes daily, the Wok, the grill, ice cream year round and cereal at any time of the day. The CUB is ok. It is definitely not worth it's price. It is way too overpriced. The management doesn't listen to the students input when it comes to prices. However, it is the dining hall that is open the latest (11:30 in one part and 1am in another) and the convenience store is right there. Kriner is the diner everyone says it is better. A quote my friends and I say whenever we tend to eat there: Kriner, the finer diner. It is true, too! Their food is more fresh because not as many people eat there and therefore they don't make as much at once. It's pretty limited but the quality is good. They also have a sub shop and a Greek place in there that you can use your meals on. There's a little eating place in Old Main, too. It is called Century Cafe. They have good food, I really like to eat there. If/when you eat there, you'll notice that it is usually pretty empty. When it isn't empty, it is generally professors and other faculty as well as the non-traditional students or grad students (students that are older than the normal age you would expect, students that are 3rd year seniors, etc.).
What to do for fun There isn't too much to do for fun. Every day, the bus runs until anywhere from 5-7pm to Walmart and on Saturdays it runs to the Chambersburg Mall until 9pm. There are plenty of places to eat, the campus has free movies usually and the campus tries to have some sort of activity that people can do once a week. It is surrounded by farms, however.
Bang for the buck I really think that students shouldn't have to pay for the gym if they don't use it and that they shouldn't have to pay to print stuff (you start with 20 dollars, it's about 2 cents a page which is cheap but it is a bit of a pain). Campus has many buttons you can press in case of an emergency, it has a van that will pick you up if you feel unsafe and some of the apartment complexes have buses running to campus until 2am. I really feel safe walking here at night. It is much cheaper than other colleges which is part of the reason I chose it and you get a bit more than what you pay. I think they could take some charges off of our tuition that are unneeded but I'm cheap and like to save my money and don't use many of the things on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Well, you'll probably never see it unless you get the key somehow, but there is a tunnel under campus that is supposedly supposed to stretch from Old Main to the other end of campus. The college was built a little after the Civil War, I think. Also, it used to be a boys only school. Old Main was literally the MAIN part of campus. There were about 4 buildings. My one psychology professor told my class that there used to be cigarette machines throughout campus and that when they finally allowed women here, they had curfews and weren't allowed out as late as men, they weren't allowed men in their dorms, and they built a bridge from one building to the next so they didn't have to walk at night. The town of Shippensburg has a lot of history to it which is really interesting.
Great for these types of students Shippensburg University is really good for anyone, honestly.
Clubs and Activities I have been to their club websites, they have a wide range of clubs that cover a lot of things. They have Quidditch now, too!
Greek Life There are quite a few Greek housing here. I don't know much about them other than the one has a very rough rush period as I had a friend who had to do ridiculous things. But, from what I've heard, that is normal for Fraternities and Sororities.
Campus Safety I always feel safe on campus walking at night. It is well lit, there are emergency buttons spread throughout and there is a van that will pick you up and drop you off at your residence if you feel unsafe. Every time I have been into the campus security office, the officers have looked extremely bored as they don't really have much to do because campus is safe. The students are generally friendly too, if it is late and you need to walk somewhere, some female students will offer you (another female) company or whatever to make sure you are safe. I had that happen to me; it was nice. I even feel safe enough to sleep with my door unlocked (and that is with the two times that people mistook my room for theirs and walked in).

Tips for prospective students Look into a school that you feel comfortable in, dont focus on the people around you.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences this university is great, fun, and very educational for students to apply to. you also get to become a member of the community and participate in many ways throughout the campus. and it is one of the best universities that teaches the education major.
Academic Rigor the universities academic rigor would be a 4 point star because they do have very strict laws and regulations depending on the kind of crime, or punishment the student made, but not all the university has the same laws.
Dorm Life living on campus and in dorms would be classified as a 4 pointer because everything on here would be great, but if only the rooms were a little bit bigger and with their own bathrooms. you do get your own privacy, lock doors, have quiet hours at night, and have a study lounge in case some students don't like studying in their room.
Food and Dining when starting to eat on campus on the various dining locations the campus has, the food is really great for about the first month or so, but then students and myself get too fed up of the same food everyday, so they start going other places and then come back to eat on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences it is an awesome school with great programs. the teachers really want to help you and their classes are great. i would not change my mind about this school for anything.
Academic Rigor the classes are good balance of difficult and fun. they are also interesting.
Dorm Life the traditional dorms are nice. they are a comfortable size. the new suites are going to be great, but a little pricey. try to meet your roommate via facebook or other connections. it;s nice if you have a say about who you live with.
Food and Dining the dining halls are okay, but the galley at the ceddia union building is awesome. i love to get food there and take it back to my dorm to eat.
What to do for fun the campus is always offering things to do on the weekends and sometimes during the week.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences this school does a fair job at teaching its students. what you get out of it all comes down to you and how much effort you put into your education.
Tips for prospective students there are two things that i feel can't be said enough to future students, whether at ship or somewhere else. first off, it is very important that you reach out and meet people when you arrive at your school because after a while, people go back to only associating with the people that they know. secondly, you have to know what you need to get done and be able to manage your time so that it gets done.
Academic Rigor i came here for the business program which is aacsb accredited, the best accreditation for business schools. this being said, you will be pushed to learn and succeed in this school. a number of resources are available to help students succeed including professors, a student learning center, and a large library.
Dorm Life dorms at ship are fairly nice. they are well maintained and for the most part the resident assistants (ra's) are nice and helpful. don't be loud in the middle of the night or cause problems for other students and you should have any trouble with the ra's. also, new suite style dorms are being built across the campus, with dorms opening in 2013 and 2015.
Food and Dining the food here is pretty good, considering that it is made to be served to a large number of people. there is a decent amount of selection when it comes to food. you can pick from two dining halls (reisner and kriner) as well as several places to get food within the cedia union building, also known as the cub. it's not as good as home cooked meals, but most mass produced foods aren't.
What to do for fun there are a number of clubs, intramural and team sports, and other activities to participate in on campus. within shippensburg there are a few places to eat, but not much else. however, chambersburg is a short drive away and has much more to do, including restaurants,a bowling alley, a movie theater, and many more things.
Bang for the buck i'm attending this school with out of state residence so it's is more expensive for me than it will be for others. however, this is a state university so its prices are fairly well maintained. because it is a state school, you should find that it's prices compare closely to that of other similar schools.
Great for these types of students having experienced the business program myself, this is a great place for other students interested in majoring in business. there is no better accreditation for business than what ship has, which means the business program is held to the highest standards.
Clubs and Activities there is almost no limit to the number of clubs and activities available at ship. want to join a quidditch team? at ship you can! this is one of the many sports, clubs, and activities available at ship. the list includes anything from soccer, basketball, and football to ultimate frisbee, mudslides, and yes, quidditch.
Greek Life there are several different sororities and fraternities on campus. interested students are invited to participate in rush week, where they can meet members of the fraternities and sororities and find the one which is best for them.
Campus Safety assuming you take responsibility into your own hands and lock your doors and windows, there is basically no issues with theft. also, there is very little violence on the campus; i haven't seen any sort of violence on campus so far. the campus is very safe overall, and the university police force helps with any issues that may come up. the surrounding town is also safe to be in, and i have had no issues on or off campus.

Tips for prospective students go out to as many events as you can, and meet new people!
Academic Rigor some classes are laughably easy, but others have you scrambling to study.
Dorm Life dorm life is fun, even though i'm surrounded by really loud and noisy neighbors.
Food and Dining it's okay, could use a better health menu.
What to do for fun not much if you don't go out and party.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences its a small quiet peaceful school. there is a lot to do on campus and everyone is very friendly here. not only that but there is a lot of new buildings being built as we speak.
Tips for prospective students be prepared for how quiet the area is. other then that its a great school, with a lot of clubs and sports to get active in.
Academic Rigor the academic environment is great! the professors are willing to help you out in anyway they can. i have not had one bad professor yet.
Dorm Life the dorm life is actually pretty nice. there are new dorms being built that are going to be bigger and have they own bathroom. everyone is also pretty friendly, so you end up with a lot of friends!
Food and Dining the food is pretty good here. you have a lot to choose from and you have three different places to eat at.
What to do for fun get involved with clubs and sports. there are so many!
Great for these types of students i am a never miss class, always do work type of student. i like to have fun, but that reason i am here is to learn.
Clubs and Activities i am active in the accounting club, in-motion dance troupe team, and club tennis team! i love them all!
Greek Life i am not active in greek life.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences shippensburg university is a great college to attend if you are living on campus. there are many activities and clubs to become involved with. with shippensburg constantly striving to meet every one's needs, they have added many majors so that they are the school for anyone.
Tips for prospective students if you plan on or are considering the prek-4 program and can enter in the major straight from high school, do so. it is much harder to get into the program than to get out. also, if you live within 30 miles of the campus, it will be much cheaper to live at home and commute, even with rising gas prices.
Academic Rigor in my major, early childhood education, they have employed far less people than they should. this has caused our class sizes to grow to uncomfortable levels for the size of the rooms we are in for classes. i have not heard anything like this for any other major, however.
Dorm Life while i do not live on campus, i will occasionally spend the night with a few friends on campus. the dorms are clean, but the rooms in most buildings are very small. this will be changing somewhat soon, however, because the campus will be welcoming many new dorm buildings by the fall semester of 2012. unfortunately, this means prices for housing are going up.
Food and Dining there are many decent places to eat on campus, but if you do not have a meal plan, it's much cheaper to eat off campus. the cub (ceddia union building) has a very nice food court that offers pizza, sushi, chicken, homemade cooking meals, and quiznos along with other refrigerated a la carte items. overall, the food is pretty good, but very expensive.
What to do for fun regardless of what your interests are, you will find something for you at shippensburg university. there are many great clubs, organizations, and events on campus. we are home to luhrs performing arts center, which has welcomed many famous singers, comedians, and performers. also, the activities program board offers several free, fun activities to participate in. once a year they even bring in a famous artist such as b.o.b., jason derulo, and this year we had the plain white t's.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus right off campus there is a place called the rail trail. it is a nice, long path that goes through the woods and anyone can go on it. many students go there to ride bikes, walk their dogs, run or jog, or even just to go on a nature walk. it is absolutely beautiful.
Campus Safety there are emergency buttons everywhere on campus, and the campus pd is always driving around. there's even a bus that will take you to your dorm or car if you get out of class when it's dark.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences this school is a relatively small school but a tight-knit community. aside from the beautiful campus, the professors are well-qualified, and many of the classrooms and technology are up-to-date. there are so many activities to do on campus provided by the activities program board, including attending concerts!
Academic Rigor the classroom setting allows for the professors to really get to know their students. classes are interesting, yet challenging.
Dorm Life the dorms are located all over campus so they are nearby the academic buildings, meaning a shorter walk. you make so many new friends just from the dorms alone because the directors provide free events and activities to residents. there is a new dorm building being built and all the rooms are suite-style buildings, each equipped with a bathroom.
Food and Dining there are 3 dining areas on campus, all within a short distance of the dorm buildings. the cub provides food in a mall-cafeteria type setting with 7 different choices. kriner has a dining area and two other food restaurants, and reisner is the main dining hall, serving freshly cooked food everyday, buffet style.
Bang for the buck shippensburg tuition rates are fairly low, and you pay a lot less than you would at a community college.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Shippensburg is an excellent middle size school. The students and faculty work well together. The class sizes are small.
Tips for prospective students Shippensburg is a mid size school out in the middle of the farm country. We are not far from Harrisburg and Reading but at the same time we are surrounded by farms and the countryside.
Academic Rigor I am in the honors program and it is hard work but the classes are smaller.
Dorm Life I have made a lot of good friends in the dorm. We have a lot of different activities in the dorms from scavenger hunts to game nights to trips.
Food and Dining The selection is good but it is still college food.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here are wonderful! I have learned so much. The professors here are very helpful and they urge you to ask questions. None of the professors I've had so far will move on unless everyone in class understands the material. They want you to succeed and will do anything possible for that to happen. If you don't understand material there is free tutoring for every class available when it suits you. This is a great school.
Am enjoying being here I love being at Shippensburg. The classes are small enough for you to be able to seek help from the professor. Everyone is friendly to everyone and very close. Even the workers at the dining halls will probably learn your name. I was debating on going to Penn State and here and I am now glad I choose Shippensburg.
Bang for the buck The school is very cost efficient when compared to schools like Penn State. Tuition went up this year to 16,000 but it is still reasonable. the meals are fairly expensive but you don't have to go to the dining halls all the time. They have a building called the CUB where you can just get things like pizza, burgers, fries, chicken, salads and etc. so it is not expensive all the time. they also have meal plans that are cheaper than paying every time you go to eat. Financial Aid rates are very high here I think something like 85% of students get financial aid. So don't let the price stop you from coming here. We will be glad to have you.
Tips for prospective students For first semester students Shippensburg gives you your schedule. after that you can choose and I suggest using a website called Shipunderground.com to read reviews on professors. It is your lifesaver when it comes to scheduling time so you know you don't get bad professors. Another tip is to take advantage of your professors office hours and the free tutoring for assistance when needed. If you follow these tips your college experience will be much better.
Great for these types of students Shippensburg is great for all majors but it is really good for business majors because Shippensburg received the AACSB accreditation which is the highest a college can receive. The college of business was also the only university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to make the 2011 list of nationally ranked business programs. That's right we beat PENN STATE. Shippensburg also has a great education major program. Shippensburg is great for everyone.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Shippensburg has a range of academic majors. You just about have the option to choose anything. If your interested in doing a few things, you have the option to double major or double minor. You definitely do not have limits here at Shippensburg. The teachers are very willing to help whenever they can. They are always available.
Am enjoying being here When is there not anything to do on campus? Pretty much there are activities to do everyday of the week. The APB committee does a wonderful job of planning events. We have movie nights in the theater, a variety of socials, and sports events. There is never a dull moment at Ship unless you are just being lazy.
Bang for the buck Shippensburg is very affordable, especially for in-state students. You definitely get you moneys worth. Your tuition doesn't just take car of your tuition or your housing, you will come to find out that all social events pay for themselves through your tuition. All sports events are free, and for the most part all APB events are free.
Tips for prospective students Shippensburg University is very well balanced between the academic life, and the social life. Yes college is about coming to learn but college is also your home away from home and so what you normally do at home you can do here. Come to learn but also have fun. College life is what you make of it. Take advantage of the opportunities that are afforded to you. Ask for help if needed and become familiar to your teachers. They are people just like us. Introduce yourself. Talk to them. They are easy to talk to are willing to give there time.
Great for these types of students If you are seeking a career in Education, Shippensburg would be very beneficial to you. The education department is wonderful, after all it is known for its education department. You get a great learning experience. We have a Elementary School right on Campus. It gets no better then that.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Shippensburg University has a variety of fantastic professors. I've learned a lot here already because the professors teach the material in an unforgettable way.
Am enjoying being here Ship is known for being a party school, although there is a lot to do on campus other than partying as well. They almost always have activities going on, movies playing, or even comedians performing.
Bang for the buck At Shippensburg you get a great education, a great college experience, and much more at a much lower cost as other schools within the state. Worth the money.
Tips for prospective students There is not too much to do in the town because the town is built around the campus. Also, many people are commuter students so tend to go home on the weekends.
Great for these types of students College students who are looking to have fun :)
