Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am in the architecture program and I am definitely learning a lot. Many come into the program not knowing what to expect. This school is full of learning opportunities and since the classes are smaller students get the one on one experience with the professors. I feel like I've learned a lot more here then I ever learned in high school.
Am enjoying being here I really enjoy being here. It is a great school and it has been growing a lot. They have improved in many things. They always try to have events to have the students come out and have some fun and meet new people around the campus.
Bang for the buck The school doesn't cost you arm and an leg it is pretty affordable. They have computer labs that anyone can go into. They architecture program has access to large plotters that are free to print the only thing is you have to bring in your own paper which I still think it is pretty good.
Tips for prospective students Come and have fun. You have to make college fun find ways to entertain yourself and make friends. Work can get you busy but try to get it out of the way so that you can also have time to enjoy your college life.
Great for these types of students Many teachers don't care about attendance. They are just here to help you. For students that like the environment of a small quite campus.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The class sizes are decent and the labs are annoyingly tedious. Almost everyday I find some point of reference for what I just learned and that makes me remember it. I learned about building and programming solid state micro controllers and then i saw one in a V-TEC engine and it took me maybe 3 hours to take the limiter off of it.
Am enjoying being here Social life is weak here unless you are somewhat of a nerd. At any given moment if you know the numbers of about 4 people here, you can start any form of video game tournament, jam session (if you play an instrument), or movie night. I'm relatively social so I found that out first semester.
Bang for the buck You learn what you came here for and it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. As an upperclassman you can use the hi-tech campus labs and work benches for personal work...sadly freshman don't see the better labs unless they are on one of the competition teams like robotics or any of the many automotive teams.
Tips for prospective students If you know what you like to do for fun then you can make any environment fun. Enjoy yourself, do your work ahead of time so you can eliminate stuff you have to do later.
Great for these types of students The teachers make the perspective students versatile. There are drill teachers for people who need way too much help and there are teachers who don't mandate attendance or homework for the students who just want the option of help. I'd actually like to see more artists here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot You will learn so much just within the first few semesters of being here. I have learned a lot within my field of study, especially just in taking my core classes. Your professors want you to succeed not only in their classes, but also in your career as well.
Am enjoying being here I love being at Southern Poly. The campus is very condensed, meaning you are not walking far to any of your classes. The staff at SPSU is friendly and welcoming and the professors of Southern Poly are there to not only help you with your studies, but also to help you with life as well.
Bang for the buck For the price, Southern Poly is a great education for a great price. You may pay a bit for books, but that's the same at any college. If you live within the state of Georgia and you earn the HOPE Scholarship, your tuition plus books will be around $700. For the state of this economy, SPSU provides the best of education for the lowest of price.
Tips for prospective students Do your homework!! Professors do not assign this for their health, they do it to help you gain knowledge within the course. Also, go and see your professors. Even if you don't need help, it's great to build relationships with your professors, especially those within your field of study.
Great for these types of students Southern Polytechnic State is the best choice for me. If you are someone who wants to learn through hands on application, SPSU is the school for you too. The professors here are here to help you succeed at learning, and are available to you through one-on-one aid more than other colleges. Overall, SPSU is not only a place where learning is encouraged, but enjoyable as well.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This school has a lot to offer, I am still learning the workings of the campus and what it's full potential. The class sizes are pretty great and the teachers are really knowledgeable.
Am enjoying being here The campus Has a wide variety of cultures here so you will not feel out of place. Campus is near the city so you have a lot of things to do and places to go! Plus the campus has many sporting activities you can part take in, such as baseball, tennis, badminton, gymnastics and many more!! Recreation wise, the student center has many pool tables and games.
Bang for the buck Right on!!! Tuition is really reasonable for what you get and you get quality education!
Tips for prospective students Do your research about the school, and if you plan to live on campus look around for accommodation off campus first!
Great for these types of students Technical Students
Hands-on Students
Engineering
Architectural
Computing and Information Students
This school is about being hands on so if you learn best by using your hands or actually doing it yourself and not just relying on theory, this is the school for you.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Will enjoy being here The campus is small but not bad. The class sizes aren't too big and the staffs are very welcoming.
Bang for the buck This school is exceptionally cheap, I'm not sure about the quality of teaching yet.
Tips for prospective students I'm not yet a student.
Great for these types of students Future engineers and math lovers.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are tough enough to keep you challenged, but not so tough that you will get left behind easily. Most professors work at a pretty decent pace.
Am enjoying being here The campus is very nice and located in a beautiful city. It is only 15 minutes from Atlanta which is very nice for those that like to go out into the city. There aren't many disturbances here, just the occasional fire alarm, but that isn't even that bad.
Bang for the buck The school has quality education for a low price. Just because it isn't as expensive as some other colleges doesn't mean that the education is sub-par. Trust me, it's not.
Tips for prospective students Don't come in expecting to get an A in every course. That probably won't happen. The classes are tough, so expect to work hard.
Great for these types of students Hard Working

Dorm Life i live in the on campus apartments which are great. i can't speak for the dorms.

Great for these types of students studious

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the courses at southern poly tend to hold back from the finer details of theory to the benefit of practical application. the campus is a great place to walk, if a bit boring on occasion. there is a great bit of diversity in the population of the campus as a whole; though sometimes this is less true of individual majors, anyone can find a group to hang with.
Tips for prospective students if you want to be prepared for the work force as soon as you graduate, southern poly is a good plan. the industry-focused course material and focus on practical apliacation of concepts in upper level courses means graduates ready to work immediately. also, the meal plan is overpriced; if you can, live in the apartments or off campus and get food from the grocery store. there are several nearby.
Academic Rigor some classes are very difficult, but your actual mileage will vary greatly based on major and how practically-minded you are. if you always have a practical reasoning, most classes for most majors will be easier. if you often have little to no reasoning for an action or production, you will likely struggle with some classes.
Dorm Life the dorm community is open, friendly, and welcoming, but is a non-ideal situation for those who like to study in there rooms and comes attached to an over-priced meal plan. the apartments available to sophomores and up, while having higher rent, have kitchens, so there's no need of the meal plans. tip: get together with people you know for the apartment; it's much nicer to come home to three of your closest friends and cook dinner together before inviting some friends over to start off the weekend, than to come back to a place where everyone is always in their bedroom.
Food and Dining generally, the food costs too much, but isn't bad for what it is. most people recommend the burrito place near the upperclassman housing as the most affordable place to eat on campus.
What to do for fun everyone has to find their own thing for fun. if you like to party, you can hang out by the fraternity housing and find out who's throwing something soon, or you can grab a couple people you know and have them invite their friends and so on. there's a myriad of clubs on campus that are always looking for new recruits and things to do. the campus in nice enough or just walk if you enjoy that. it is always possible to find someone to strike up a session of just about any game you can think of, and, most likely, a few you've never heard of.
Bang for the buck if you're in-state, you can't beat the quality for the price. unless you're looking for a liberal arts or history degree. in that case, check out gsu.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus each generation tends to manufacture their own traditions, so relevant locations to one group constitute a meaningless patch of dirt to the next guy down the line.
Great for these types of students if you are practically-minded and self motivated, this school will treat you well. not recommended for those students seeking theory-heavy course work.
Clubs and Activities clubs tend to be good at organization and there are many of them on campus with a variety of foci. many club leaders tend to get overly ambitious and exceed either their budget or their human resources, such is the way of adding power to youth.
Campus Safety being next to two major roads and small enough for that to mean something, there are rarely any threats to security on campus. the few times there have been threats, they have been dealt with in a satisfactorily expedient manor without the campus police feeling the need to treat every visitor and student like a criminal.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences southern polytechnic offers many rigorous courses that are very effective. even though they can be tough, by the end of the course, you will know your stuff. when i graduate, i know i will be prepared for the workforce.
Tips for prospective students as long as you manage your time and do all of your assignments, you will be successful!
Academic Rigor the required classes relating to your major field will definitely keep you busy, in a good way.
Dorm Life the hornet village suites are wonderful places to stay. with their homey feel, it doesn't make it so hard to get homesick.
Food and Dining the school offers quite a few on-campus eateries. the only complaint i have is that the cafeteria doesn't offer the best choices for lunch or dinner.
What to do for fun the location of the campus is very close to downtown atlanta, so there is always the option to have fun there!
Campus Safety campus safety is great. security is always driving around campus and doing walk-throughs of the campus and the buildings.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences southern polytechnic state university is one of the best engineering school in the state of georgia. the student to teacher ratio is very good which helps.
Tips for prospective students be prepared, just plan and you will be okay!
Academic Rigor coursework are designed to test your ability of the course material. it is not extremely hard you just have to stay on top of your work and plan and study!
Dorm Life dorm life is good. new dorms was also built recently so that's always a good sign. you have choices and availability.
Food and Dining new areas were built to improve on this area and the results are very good. now you have different areas to choose from on the campus to get a bite to eat.
What to do for fun you can play pool, table tennis, bring your own video games and play with other students, you can also sign up for different clubs and be involved and attend the school events.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Southern Polytechnic State University is a small school that holds big promise. This school is truly a community that provides a lot of support for its students. It is continuing to grow each year and improve in every aspect.
Tips for prospective students Southern Polytechnic State University definitely offers quality academic programs taught by teachers who really care and work extensively with their students to help them succeed. One thriving young program, among the numerous outstanding and well-established programs Southern Poly offers, includes Electrical Engineering. Their EE program is equipped with wonderful professors that are enthusiastic about teaching and helping students. Overall, Southern Polytechnic State University is an excellent investment in a student's education.
Academic Rigor The academic programs offered by Southern Poly shouldn't be taken lightly. While the professors are fair, they have high standards set for their classes and for their students. Students at Southern Polytechnic State University are expected to work hard, and many resources, such as free tutoring, are available to all students to encourage hard work.
Dorm Life Two completely new dorm buildings as well as apartments are available to students. There are always study groups, games, and fun activities taking place around the housing facilities.
Food and Dining The Stinger, Southern Polytechnic State University's on-campus cafeteria, provides some of the best meals all day long. Not only is their a wide variety to choose from, but the price is reasonable for great all-you-can-eat meals. Healthy choices, including salad and fruit bars, are also available. They even satisfy the student with a sweet tooth by making a delectable dessert bar.
What to do for fun Southern Poly offers a variety of campus activities and organizations that keeps their students busy aside from academic work. Milkshake-happy-hours, fundraisers, games between dorms, cookouts, and free breakfast for students during finals includes only a few of the fun events Southern Polytechnic State University has for its students.
Bang for the buck One of the best schools in the state of Georgia that offers degrees you can get for less.
Great for these types of students Interested in engineering and technology? Southern Polytechnic State University is for you.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences SPSU is a good school for Computer Science or Software Engineers. You get a lot of practical experience creating computer programs or games. Professors are very competent, approachable and willing to help.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to do the work if you would like to get good grades. SPSU is not an easy school by any means, however if you put in the effort you should be fine. Professors are approachable and usually more than willing to help.
Academic Rigor SPSU is rated one of the schools that grades the most fairly. I have found this to be true. When I work hard in a class, I usually get a good grade. Projects are challenging and very helpful in the real world.
Dorm Life I do not live in the dorms or on campus, so I cannot speak to this.
Food and Dining The food at SPSU is not its strong point. However, I will say that the sandwiches they make in the J building are really good, especially the tuna!
What to do for fun SPSU is overall pretty full of nerds who spend all their time gaming. However, there are a lot of on campus organizations that provide for social interaction outside of video games where you can meet some good friends. Also, the student center game room area can be fun.
Bang for the buck I think considering the price of SPSU and your ability to get good employment opportunities with a degree from here, it is a great bang for the buck. It was in the top four colleges rated best return on investment in Georgia, and I feel that to be true depending on what you choose to study and the effort you put into it. I have already received several lucrative internship opportunities, and expect to have multiple offers upon graduation.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I don't really know too many unusual traditions, there are some good study rooms on the second floor of the library, and the Q building has a lot of comfortable lounging areas or study spaces. One stupid rule here is that all student organizations have to use the catering services for any on campus event, and the food is bad and they are overpriced! This is probably the biggest complaint I have with the school, as the rules for this are ridiculous and there seems to be no way to get around it. If you aren't involved in any student organizaitions, though, then this shouldn't be an issue for you.
Great for these types of students Commuters, technical people, gamers, people trying to save money and get a good value for their degree.
Clubs and Activities I am involved pretty heavily in two engineering societies on campus, and I think this involvement has presented a lot of opportunities that I would not otherwise have received. It is a smaller campus, so a little bit of effort can go a long way and you can get involved in an organization and be on the board a lot more easily than at some larger schools, which looks really good on your resume and gives you great leadership experience.
Greek Life I am not involved in Greek life so I cannot speak to this.
Campus Safety Campus safety is decent, but not great. Although nothing has ever happened to me, apparently a lot of laptops have been stolen around campus. Also, apparently some thieves robbed a dorm room, and there was a criminal fleeing from another crime that wandered on to campus. The warning system here is really good though - they immediately text and email you as well as using the PA system on campus so you will know right away if something has happened. I think they take a really strong approach to safety and overall I would say I feel pretty safe on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences SPSU has amazing teachers that are dedicated to the students. The teachers really care about you and want you to really understand the material. The campus is very active and has many opportunities for achievement including clubs and teams for many different majors.
Tips for prospective students Amazing school if you are really in school to learn. Small campus, eighty percent male.
Academic Rigor Difficult classes but the teachers care about you and want you to learn. Grades aren't important to them usually if you understand the material.
Food and Dining Several places to dine on campus, they are all fair. Usually better and cheaper to go off campus.
What to do for fun Plenty of clubs and organizations to join.
Bang for the buck Terrific educational experience. Not a party school.
Great for these types of students Willing to learn. Dedicated to school. Willing to work hard for the grades they want.
Clubs and Activities It's my first semester at SPSU and I've already joined the Society of Physics students and I am now the secretary. Very easy to find the right club for you!
Campus Safety Very safe, SPSU police patrol regularly.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I love the academic challenge that this University offers. I'm also involved in Alpha Xi Delta Women's Fraternity and other organizations here on campus. Overall Southern Poly is a 7/10. The only reason why it shouldn't get a 10/10 is because of the lack of excitement shown sometimes on campus.
Tips for prospective students Do not wait until the last minute to study and attend every lecture/lab even if it's not required. By doing this you're going to be successful in your classes, and you will have time to become involved on campus.
Food and Dining There are many dining choices here on campus, but if you lack a meal plan then they seem overpriced.
What to do for fun Participate in Intramurals, go to the Rec. Center and pool. Also there is a volleyball area by the University Courtyards. The greek life on campus is also very fun.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Painting the Rock is a Greek tradition here on campus. Only the Greek Organizations can paint it and design it to make a statement.
Greek Life Like I already stated Greek Life is awesome. There are two sororities and six fraternities. We also have five Black Greek Organizations
Campus Safety There is always police ready to help keep the campus safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences SPSU has a vibe that makes me feel at home. Everyone (staff included) is so helpful and friendly. The teachers act so excited about the visiting students they meet, feels like they really love their jobs.
Tips for prospective students Leave all your childish antics at whatever high school you are coming from. Your're first visit here will prove to you that this is a school full of teachers who want to see you succeed. Come with a grown up attitude and save most of the partying for breaks and graduation when you have the freedom to do ANYTHING you want.
Academic Rigor SPSU is very hands on. During my visit I got to walk in on some classes and I saw how hands on everything is. It is nothing like high school. There is an actual challenge now.
Dorm Life I have not started my term yet but I will be staying off campus anyways.
Food and Dining I saw some on campus restaurants on campus and the people leaving said it was a bit pricey, but worth it. I do remember a mickey d's about five minutes form the baseball field where I will spend most of my time.
What to do for fun The school is relatively close to downtown Atl, and this huge mall type thing is down the street from the school on Marietta Parkway. Personally, I would just grab a few friends (after homework) and just chill over food at the burrito place on campus.
Bang for the buck I really wish I lived in state as I compare in state tuition to the out of state tuition, but with all the help the school offers I can't complain.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus I haven't started here yet so i don't know.
Great for these types of students SPSU is amazing for students who learn better with a visual and doing the classwork themselves. Every classroom I visited, and every teacher I talked to had their students trying out the work before class ended. It makes it easier to do the work alone later because the work always seems easier when the teacher does it!
Clubs and Activities SPSU has a lot of clubs to join and activities to busy yourself. Best part about them is that they still have it to where if you're grades aren't up to par you are no longer in the clubs.
Greek Life Didn't see any Greeks during my visit, but I hope that I can pledge Delta when I go.
Campus Safety Every time I looked around a SPSU patrol car was driving by. If I was in a building, an officer would be walking by. I always heard other officers talking on their walkie talkie, so it was good to know that the campus police were in constant contact and could be anywhere in a moment's notice.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences southern polytechnic state university (spsu) is well known for their architect, engineering and computer science programs. the school has small teacher-to-student ratio, so there is more human connection than others big university. students learn to experience and participate in hand-on projects to learn concepts and skills.
Tips for prospective students prospective students should talk to their adviser of the major that they interested in as soon as possible because it will save them time and money in the end. they might think this one major will get them the job that they want, but sometimes by talking to the adviser they will discovery something about themselves or about some other majors that would suit them better.
Academic Rigor i am studying mechatronics engineering, so the work loads could be a little much to handle time to time. but as long as you put the effort to do your homework, readings, prepare for class and test on time, then it is a rewarding experience; because you will learn many interesting topics about math, science and technology and finally seeing them coming together to explain how everything works around us.
Dorm Life i live off campus, so i can't say much. but the school just built some new dorms, and i heard it is really nice.
Food and Dining spsu has their dinning hall that open everyday for students. to be honest i have never ate there. there are couple of places around campus that serve breakfast and lunch. i had some deli at the j-building before, it is very convenient for me or any student that have 4 classes back to back and don't want to get off campus to look for food.
What to do for fun frisbee on campus, billiard, ping pong, in-door swimming poor, weight room, game lab, the student center has 2 big tv that student can bring their game consoles in and hook up with the screen to play in between classes.
Bang for the buck the school tuition is relatively same with some other university around but because the small size classroom and hand-on experience that students will get out of these classes. i think spsu is the best bang for your buck :)
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is a game lab on campus :) go there and play game for freeeeee!!!
Campus Safety i haven't see or heard anything dangerous about this campus yet
