Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There certain classes that should not be taken online, like speech or one you need lots of instruction.
Am enjoying being here All the teachers have been quite nice and helpful. Don't be afraid to talk to your classmates either.
Bang for the buck The class are alot cheaper than other colleges and the only thing you might pay alot for are the books which you should buy used.
Tips for prospective students You should plan your classes out because some classes are only available in the spring or fall term

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences This college offers smaller classes which is beneficial because the teachers get to know you. The advisors and counselors generally care about the students and are there to help. I do not feel like just a number or body like many of the other college students I know at our Public State Universities.
Tips for prospective students Relax, ask many questions, and make the best of your choices in classes.
Academic Rigor Average from what I hear.
Food and Dining School food is fine but their are so many choices of places to eat in this county that you will never have to worry about where or what to eat.
What to do for fun Clearwater Beach, Honeymoon Island, Spring Training Baseball, Spring Break, Tampa Bay Rays, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Bucs, Fishing, Kayaking, really anything including the Arts (plays etc)
Great for these types of students Want to live at home due to the high cost of living on a campus or away from home. Excellent value and education.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences st. petersburg is a great school for those wanting to get a affordable education. extra curricular activities and campus life are very bleak though. the campus is often completely empty until you see a class starting or ending.
Tips for prospective students it's a great college and very affordable, flexibility can sometimes be a problem as all of them math classes start at the same time, as do the sciences, histories etc. which can sometimes make you have to visit the campus for classes multiple times in a day.
Academic Rigor essays and assignments are very common in all of my classes, i'll usually be assigned a 1000+ word essay in each of my classes every one or two classes. i learn a lot in each of my classes
Dorm Life st. petersburg college doesn't provide dorms.
Food and Dining it's not a big college, so it doesn't really need many places to eat. it does have a small cafe where they sell sandwiches and drinks near the book store, which is nice.
What to do for fun the school doesn't offer many extra curricular activities, but it seems to be very big on the student government association. students ask you to vote for them, and each semester during voting days they have a small party on the campus.
Bang for the buck st. petersburg is a good school with affordable educational classes. students are a lot older than i am (19) and there is very little extra curricular activities which is disappointing because i wanted a more active college experience.
Great for these types of students older students, students that just want to get an education and go home.
Clubs and Activities students show alot of interest in the student government association.
Campus Safety you have very little to worry about on the campus as there is very little people on it and always has active security personnel.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Depending on which professors you pick, your classes can be great. Make sure to talk to other students though and find out information on the classes you plan on taking.
Am enjoying being here SPC is great for saving money. They plan to put housing in within the next few years, but for now it is a lot of people living at home, or going back to school.
Bang for the buck SPC saves you soooooo much money. :)
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have all of your questions in order before going to talk to counselors. If you can, avoid talking to the counselors at the Tarpon Springs campus.
Great for these types of students SPC is great for anyone trying to save money, anyone that is completely undecided about where to go, anyone that is looking to transfer, or anyone that is going back to school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot How much you learn all depends on the professor you choose for each of your courses. There are excellent professors at SPC that teach at other universities such as USF. You can go to ratemyprofessor.com to get the inside on each professor's teaching methods and style. Choosing a professor that really makes you earn your letter grade is ideal for better learning and understanding of a subject.
Am enjoying being here At SPC not all the students are united and I didn't find a specific program that guides students planning to major on chemical engineering, which is my chosen major.
Bang for the buck SPC is very convenient for people looking for an affordable, good education. The only thing you have to make sure you have is residency, or be prepared to cover those out- of-state tuition fees.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you have proof of your residency--I had a problem with that--and pick good, challenging professors. Furthermore, you want to plan an academic curriculum yourself by checking the ones from other universities because the academic counselors at SPC tend to make you take classes you didn't have to take after all or don't tell you that you had to take a specific course which is retaining you from transferring.
Great for these types of students High School graduates who recently came to the United States and feel more comfortable attending a school which allows them to further develop their English without taking ESL classes. Also, for those who want to save before going for their bachelors.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot St Petersburg College's 4 year programs can be pretty rigorous, but definitely encourage critical thinking and higher learning.
Am enjoying being here After attending a big university for 2 semesters, I found myself back at St Petersburg College. The small classes and great professors are why I came back. The campuses are well maintained and have great snack bars and libraries to study in. If you are looking for a school where it's easy to make friends and the professors make classes fun I would definitely recommend SPC.
Bang for the buck Because it's not a university St Petersburg College is much more affordable and accessible (they have 9 different campuses) for students who don't have the financial backing to attend a brand name school. While SPC is not a university it is an accredited 4 year state college with wonderful programs in over 18 areas of study.
Tips for prospective students St Petersburg College is a great school. Most students only come for their A.A. degrees and go somewhere else for a Bachelors, however I highly recommend their 4 year programs. They have a variety of majors to choose from and their faculty is exceptional.
Great for these types of students St Petersburg College is great for all students. They have wonderful advisors if you are new and need help with things such as financial aid and scheduling classes. They are also great for the seasoned college student who would rather take charge of their own academics. They also offer a huge variety of online courses for the working student.

Categories Rating Comments Am enjoying being here If you need somewhere to hang between classes the student lounge (Agora building) Is great for that!
Bang for the buck Cheap, and most of the teachers are engaging. Make sure to get your books used, either from other students or online though. Follett charges exorbitantly!
Tips for prospective students Get your books used and don't skip class! And pay attention, even if you end up retaking a class. It'll help, I promise. And use ratemyprofessor.com. Really.
Great for these types of students Those going back to school, or those who don't know what or where they want to go, but still want to learn. Or simply people who want cheaper rates. They're also instituting bachelors degrees, soon.

Should you dislike any aspect of the teacher's attitude (most of them think a little to highly of themselves) then no, there isn't much learning to be had.
Am enjoying being here No
Bang for the buck Obviously since its a Community college it is very cheap.
Tips for prospective students Just go in and apply

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Abundate online classes and multipule campuses make St. Petersburg college easy to get to and easy to take classes for anyone. Also the small class sizes of 30 students or less give you the individual experience some students need. All around great local school to get your degree or use as a starting point for bigger and better things.
Tips for prospective students Bring your own food.
Academic Rigor Classes are not anymore difficult then high school classes.
Dorm Life No dorms.
Food and Dining Way too expensive and tastes bad.
What to do for fun Lost of free food that is good tasting.
Bang for the buck Lots of programs that help you out.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences A great school and awesome environment to be at. I love the open space that the campus has its very nice for our Florida weather and sun. I also really like the teachers and the help I get from everyone in the administration building.
Tips for prospective students Always go to class even when you think your not going to miss anything you always will. The teachers are very thoro with there teaching.
Academic Rigor If there is a helpful Rigor SPC is it they cant be very strict but always in a good way. Every teacher I have had were very helpful and fun while being strict with there students. they just want to see us pass.
Food and Dining We have a great Cafe.
What to do for fun I like to study in the library at SPC its very pretty and the museum we have a great. There is all kinds of art work from all over.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I am really enjoying my experience at St. Petersburg College. Not only are the teachers incredibly friendly and helpful, but also most of the students who have been attending the school. The campus is beautiful, and the classes and support is designed to help you succeed.
Tips for prospective students The one tip that I would give students is to register early. If you register early, you then get the best class selection because classes tend to fill up quickly.
Academic Rigor There are a lot of classes that will test your skills, however there is free tutoring available. The tutors are there to help, and design ways for you to succeed.
Dorm Life St. Petersbug College do not offer dorms, because it is a community college.
Food and Dining There are a lot of diners close by that are well within budget.
What to do for fun Depending on which campus that you are at, there are plenty of fun things to do right around the corner at every location.
Campus Safety Security is great. They are willing to escort you to your car if you do not feel safe, especially at night.

Sean from Seminole, FL

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The Seminole Campus is a beautiful place and is mainly focused around their Natural Habitat Park. Their Digital Arts Program is great with a state-of-the-art Production Room located in the UP Building. Classes are the right sizes and the counselors at the Seminole Campus help you thru any problems that come up in your college career.
Tips for prospective students I recommend St. Petersburg College to obtain your Associates Degree [AA]. It will save you a lot of money so you can be in good shape onto transferring to any public Florida university. I have many friends who have transferred to University of Florida [Nursing Program] , Florida State University [Music Program], and University of South Florida [Music and Mass Communications Program] and saved a lot of money because of getting their 2 years of general education credits done.
Academic Rigor It depends on who you take for certain classes. Ratemyprofessor.com is a great tool for you for the teachers at St. Petersburg College. The Intro to Speech Communications' teachers are very well-known; however, the Government teachers [in my opinion] are not. Once again, that website can help you out.
Dorm Life St. Petersburg College is a community college and does not have any dorms [at the moment]. I've heard rumors on campus tho that the space at the Seminole Campus will expand into the Natural Habitat Park, Academic Buildings, and Dormitories in the long future. I can see the Natural Habitat Park and Academic Buildings be true statements, but I do not see Dormitories being made at a community college. It will be cool tho!!!
Food and Dining St. Petersburg College Seminole Campus has 2 great dining facilities on the campus. One is located in the book store and the other in the UP Building. When you look at it, you think it will just be some so-so food, but they sure know how to surprise all of us. You're at a community college, but with their 2 dining areas, it makes you feel like you are at a regular university.
What to do for fun Usually during the afternoon, the St. Petersburg College Student Government is in the UP Building Main Lobby with ping-pong tables. Between the UP Building and the UF College of Pharmacy Building there is area of grass with two soccer nets. Time to time, you will see a pick-up game of soccer, flag football, or even kick ball. It's a great place for recreation.
Bang for the buck In my opinion, it is a great money saver to do your two years [AA Degree] here before going to a university. Also, the bookstore has great deals on books, clothing, even computers/tablets. I would definitely recommend the bookstore.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In the UP Building Lobby, you will always find a game of Magic: The Gathering, Dungeon and Dragons, Warhammer, or any other types of those games. Personally, I do not play any of them, but I can see that a lot of people do due to the Digital Arts Program that is centered at the Seminole Campus with all the classes in the UP Building.
Great for these types of students Smokers. They have a huge designated spot for the students who smoke at SPC. I do not smoke but I see them in the gathering there talking about classes, getting to know each other etc. I think it's a great idea that they thought of so the rest of the campus is clean.
Clubs and Activities Activities are always planned around campus. The student government knows how to plan stuff. Usually there is snow cones, popcorn, and ping-pong in the UP Building. There is a list of clubs also at the campus. Student Government is the big one also with a Christian Club.
Campus Safety I was very surprised about the Campus Safety. You do see the Security Golf Carts go by time-to time, but not that much in the day. However, I gave it the 4 stars because at night time, you see more Security Golf Carts and usually a Pinellas County Sheriff Deputy in the parking lot. I know SPC doesn't have that deputy there, but usually it's a great place for them to be on their break. It does work tho because I have seen an event that one of those deputies being on break and actually helped SPC Security out. So, I guess a win-win situation? ha!!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences St Petersburg College is a very good college. The teachers are always willing to lend a helping hand if you ask them. It isn't fancy, but it has definitely given me the confidence to achieve greater education.
Tips for prospective students Always, always ask questions when you get confused. Instead of treating it as a chore, treat classes as an interesting experience. If possible, talk with teachers after class and become friends with them, making it much easier to ask questions.
Academic Rigor It has difficult classes, but as long as you listen to the teachers, do the homework, and don't slack, getting A's and B's in this college is fairly easy.
Food and Dining The food they offer at the cafe is pretty standard. I never really ate there myself, but the food looked good and it was a cyber cafe so you can play games on the computer while you eat.
What to do for fun SPC has many clubs you can attend. They even hold special events for certain months, such as Hispanic month, where they set up tents offering free Spanish food for students, where people can sit outside and enjoy the food and socialization.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences SPC is a great school with instructors who really care about their students. Each campus has a unique focus and feel to it, and they are adding more services and programs for students every year. The school is clean, beautiful, and easy to get to.
Tips for prospective students Hit up the Welcome Back they have at each campus the first week of classes each semester. Get involved in clubs! There are a ton of opportunities for students to travel and the college will pay for it all, if you join some clubs. Not everyone realizes what's out there.
Academic Rigor Some of the basic classes are hit or miss, depending on your professor, but the more advanced classes taught by professors who actually enjoy the subject can get really interesting.
Dorm Life SPC has no dorms. That said, each campus has activity periods during which they schedule fewer classes and the Student Government and other clubs run all sorts of events to get the students together and having fun. Each campus also has a Student Life office where you can hang out, play some foosball or ping pong, and just relax.
Food and Dining The cafes are different depending on which campus you visit. Clearwater has a great one, Seminole isn't really that good. Each campus is located right next door to some quick and easy places, though, like Chik-Fil-A.
What to do for fun Like I said earlier, JOIN SOME CLUBS. If you actually look for and get involved with the organizations out there, you'll have a blast. If you just go to class, and leave, and never look around, you'll probably miss out.
Bang for the buck SPC is inexpensive, and you get a lot of opportunity for the cost.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Seminole campus is installing a new coffee shop in its learning commons area, which should become a great place to do some homework or relax with a latte.
Great for these types of students Anyone, really, but particularly students who are going to go out and get involved. Join clubs, run for officer positions, and make your own experience.
Clubs and Activities Student Government, Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, Environmental Club, Hospitality Club, Math Club, WAVE (Digital Arts), Student Veterans Association, International Club, Women on the Way, Men Achieving Excellence, and more. Tons of activities planned each month on all campuses.
Greek Life There are no official fraternities or sororities on campus. There is Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honors Society. 3.5 GPA to join, $36 million in scholarships given out each year. Plus chances to travel around the country, have a ton of fun, and win awards.
Campus Safety Each campus has patrolling security and is well lit. I've never seen or heard of problems on campus in my years here.

Teachers are realistic and teach appropriately without prejudice. Advisors lead the students in the direction they need to go to reach their goals.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences SPC has wonderful conselors, and truly amazing Instructors. It is a community college so it is definitely affordable. Smaller class sizes allow you to have a better classroom and learning experience.
Tips for prospective students Apply for financial aid it's always worth a shot. A Lot of times you don't have to spend your money on textbooks, because there is a copy of every textbook in the library. And all students are allowed to check it out for the day, only for use on campus though. Make sure you decide what your major is going to be during your first year of college, because otherwise you might end up wasting time and money, taking classes you actually don't end up needing. Map out what classes you plan to take in what semester from your freshman year to the end of your associates. Remember each Bachelors degree has certin pre-reqs that are required to be completed during your associates degree. Make sure your electives during your associates degree are the pre-reqs required for your continuing education.
Academic Rigor It's very hard to fail a class at SPC. Only people who don't put the time in to learn and study the material will fail. The Instrutors are extremely helpful, they are happy to answer any questions you have. And if you are still struggling there is free tutoring on every campus!!
Dorm Life We don't have Dorms it is a community college! However, there are affordable apartments around the campuses.
Food and Dining The Cafeteria has recently been re-done at most campus locations, they have great food, for breakfast and lunch. Healthy and not healthy choices. For instance sandwich versus pizza for lunch!! :)
What to do for fun The school has lots of clubs you can join in. The city of st.pete is a great place also.
Bang for the buck Very affordable!!!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus All of our campuses are located no more than 5 minutes from the beautiful florida water/beaches!!
Great for these types of students SPC is truly great for all kinds of students!!
Clubs and Activities lots of clubs and activites!
Greek Life We don't have any sororities, we do have phi theta kappa which is similar to NHS. Also our Tarpon springs campus is located in the most greek populated place in the US i've been told, where the sponge docks of tarpon springs are located!! All of the buildings are labeled in greek letters! It's pretty cool!
Campus Safety We have security officers on campus 24/7...they will walk you to your car after your eening classes! Very nice people!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences st petersburg college has many campuses to choose from to suite your location. there are many helpful resources given to the students, for example free tutors, advisors, and events. the angel online grading site is very helpful, easy to use, and gives a gateway to communicate between students and their teachers.
Tips for prospective students as a current student, i would recommend taking full advantage of the free resources. there are librarians which are definitely helpful when writing/ citing papers. tutors are offered seven days a week. i would recommend taking dual enrollment classes for high school students, or look into the early admissions program.
Academic Rigor with all college classes, they are challenging. one must put in the time to study and work hard with great responsibility to earn the highest grades possible. students are treated fairly and are given the grade they earn.
Dorm Life i do not have any experience with dorms at st petersburg college.
Food and Dining i am not familiar with the food and dining at st petersburg college.
What to do for fun st petersburg college campuses are centrally located near several beaches, the busy downtown night life, and many attractions. on the actual campus, students may put together a few football or soccer games to pass the time.
Bang for the buck the dual enrollment and early admissions program has saved me tons of money. these programs allowed me to take college courses while still enrolled in high school. the programs have paid for my tuition along with my books needed for the course. also at the college, they offer new and used books for students who like to save a little when their able to.
Clubs and Activities st petersburg college definitely is active in clubs and activities. there are posters and bulletin boards around the whole campus for anyone to get information about such clubs or activities.
Campus Safety at night the campus is very well lit and throughout the entire day there are campus security patrolling the grounds to ensure our safety. there are also many cameras around inside and out.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences spc is great for people who are not sure or haven't made up their mind as to what they want to major in. it's excellent for students who just got out of high school because yes, it's a college but it gives new students a nice transition into college, rather than going to a university and feeling completely overwhelmed by the size of the campus, text books, classes, etc. spc is also a good start for students to become more involved and active in not only the school but for the community as well, depending on what campus you attend. with that in mind, the downside to spc is that not all the courses that offered, are not going to be offered in one campus. which means if you live in tarpon springs or somewhere in pasco county, you'll have to travel to clearwater or even as far as seminole to take a class that isn't offered closer to you. the advisers on the tarpon campus as well as a few others are pretty rude (not all of them), they seem impatient and there's never enough help to get to everyone. yes, i understand it's a community college, but as students we don't deserve to feel like we're bothering our advisers. other then that, spc is really a good college to start at and they now offer bachelor degrees. the downside to that is they don't offer bachelors in many areas, so depending on what you go for, you'll have to go to a university to get your bachelors. classes are cheap, they offer online courses as well as express which is nice, especially because i took a basic computer class over the summer for nearly 4 hours on fridays, for about 4 weeks and got my credit for my degree, which is really convenient (i wouldn't suggest doing that for a math or science class, unless you're good at it).
Tips for prospective students although people have joked in the past about spc being the 13th of -your high school- you should always put effort into all your classes. trust me, assignments and exams creep up on you if you're not putting any effort into your studies. also, get to know your professors, they have their office hours posted so that students can talk to them, the professors are so much easier to get a hold of in community college than a university. i -highly- recommend students take classes, 'face to face' (in person, not online) so that they can get the actual feel for college classes and then after you become familiar, go ahead and take online and blended classes. be active in student government as well as other clubs on campus, it does benefit because then you get access to opportunities other students may not know about until later.
Dorm Life there's no dorms available.
Food and Dining there's really no 'meal plan' of sorts. the cafe is really expensive... not worth it.
What to do for fun there's days when the clubs will hold events but that's about it. other than that, there's not too much going on.
Bang for the buck classes are cheap and pretty affordable. there should be no need to take loans out unless it's dire.
Great for these types of students students coming from high school as well as older students getting back into school.
Clubs and Activities get active and involved in student government as well as phi theta kappa honors society. there's many other clubs to join as well, but those are the two biggest clubs. it is beneficial to be active on campus.
Campus Safety security takes too long to get to where you are...

Tips for prospective students this is the way to go if you are not looking for a school with a big name. the cost is alot better than most also.
Academic Rigor can be very fast paced by it is possible.
Dorm Life none
Food and Dining good
What to do for fun i do not go to a school with a dorm life but there is still plenty for people to get involved in.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences st petersburg college is over all a decent college. while i prefer to have more of a university feel, it lacks that and i wished the classes were larger. i do wish i can get into a university, yet this will have to suffice due to financial issues.
Tips for prospective students if you are a student interested in this college, go for it- anything is better than no education at all.
Academic Rigor the intensity of academics here varies per student and course/major. i would give the academic rigor a three out of five.
Dorm Life there are no dorms for this college, though it would not be a bad idea to do that. apparently this is now a full on four year college and stands amongst the universities. i fail to feel and see it.
Food and Dining we have a wonderful cafe here at st petersburg college, its open during just about all class times capable to the current employees. the employees are funny, and very friendly. don't be discouraged if one of them decides to strike up conversation for no reason!
What to do for fun if youre looking for fun, between the library and student serviced center is a basketball court. inside the center itself is a plethora of things to do, couches to recline on, tvs to watch whats on your mind, all the way to table tennis!

Tips for prospective students -always go to class, or email your teacher beforehand if you won't be there.
-apply for scholarships and financial aid as soon as you can.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot St Petersburg College is always willing to help students with any issue you are having regarding the course subjects. The tutors provided are students that have taken the course and are easily reachable. The professors are willing to help you and stay after class when you are confused about the material.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy going to school here because right when you walk into the campus there is always smiling faces. It feels very welcoming at St. Petersburg College and very efficient.
Bang for the buck The classes are pretty much the normal price any student would have to pay at a junior college. The books are the normal prices for the courses.
Tips for prospective students A tip that i would like to share with prospective students would be to always be prepared for your classes and ready to learn since the professors are always ready to teach each day the class meets.
Great for these types of students St. Petersburg College is a great college for students wanting to broaden their education without spending thousands of money. Also, for students that are serious about their education.

Am enjoying being here I really enjoy taking classes at St. Petersburg College. Overall they are very friendly, helpful, and understanding.
Bang for the buck I would have to say you get your bang for the buck. As stated previously the instructors are very good about giving material related to the course. They also, for the most part, are pretty helpful if you are having difficulty understanding a topic.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot From my own experience each class is packed with a lot of information with a short amount of time to complete it, but I do enjoy a good challenge.
Am enjoying being here I do love coming onto campus (Seminole Campus), because it's within a mini park, with having a nature boardwalk, which I enjoy very much. Also the other campuses have nice surroundings as well.
Bang for the buck I think St.Petersburg College has one of the lowest tuition rates around, so everyone likes this aspect.
Tips for prospective students Remember to plan out your class schedule carefully with just the right amount of courses you can handle.
Great for these types of students St.Petersburg College is great for students who want to get a head start with college, because St.Petersburg College offers the Early College Program, which I'm currently enjoying. This special program enables high school juniors to become full-time college students, receiving a high school diploma and an AA degree at the same time in just two years, all for free.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers are the best part of the school, many work multiple jobs in addition to their day and evening classes at St. Petersburg. Most of my classes have been informative and insightful, but not up to par of a four year university.
Am enjoying being here The campuses are easy to navigate, manicured and well maintained. The staff including janitorial and security are friendly and helpful. Classes could be more challenging and the red tape in the financial aid departments is atrocious.
Bang for the buck Tuition is reasonable for a community college. People that qualify for financial aid often cover most or all of their expenses for the year.
Tips for prospective students If you are applying for financial aid, apply as early as possible and check your school email often for any additional information needed by the college. Read the reviews on prospective professors before signing up for the class. Wait until the first day before buying a book to see if you will need it and do not buy from the campus bookstore.
Great for these types of students Busy, employed full time, returning to school or students planning on transferring to a four year institution.

Am enjoying being here The Clearwater Campus is beautiful. It's great to just sit in front of the library and read, enjoying the sun or chill in the Hard Drive Cafe with friends between classes.
Bang for the buck SPC is very affordable. I love it because I don't make a lot at my job and I can afford to pay for my education at SPC

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot I highly recommend Ned Johnson for ANY English classes you will need to take. If you can get into his Creative Writing class it will be the most fun 3 hours of your week and his Journalism class is great as well. Only draw back would be that you'd have to go to the Tarpon Springs campus.
Did enjoy being here I went to school at the Tarpon Springs Campus. Beautiful, easy to get to and parking was never an issue.
Bang for the buck Loved it.
Tips for prospective students Go on campus and find out who recommends what teachers for the classes you need to take. Kids will travel to a different campus to take a class with a specific instructor, so when they recommend them take their word for it. They wouldn't travel if the teacher was just so-so.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot How much you learn depends solely on you. Many teachers do not require that you attend class or read the books thoroughly, so it is easy to slack off but if you do attend class and read the texts you will learn a lot.
Did enjoy being here It's a commuter college, so it is hard to bond with people outside of class as most students come for class then leave. It is a good idea to join a few clubs and attend quad events if you want to meet people.
Bang for the buck I was part of the Collegiate HS so I didn't pay for anything but according to the students I know, classes are fairly cheap but everything in the bookstore is overly inflated. Do not buy books from the bookstore.
Tips for prospective students Join the Honors College.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot I learned a ton, such helpful professors and an outstanding learning support center. Go to the tutors, they help so much! AND IT'S FREE!
Did enjoy being here Very helpful professors at this school. Just ask and you shall receive! I once had a problem adding a course to my schedule, an error ended up occurring and the class was full by the time I realized I wasn't in the class. I e-mailed the head of that specific department and he admitted me right away; all it took was a polite e-mail!
Bang for the buck Very affordable school with a plethora of scholarships. Join the Honors College and receive a minimum of $200/semester just for being a member! Not to mention the benefit of graduating with honors! Also, each semester apply for the Foundation Scholarships. It's a scholarship pool that only requires 3 small essays. Don't forget to join groups at the school like Women on the Way or the Male Outreach program for FREE BOOKS!
Tips for prospective students Don't let people tell you it's JUST SPC. SPC is a wonderful school, it has plenty of programs and scholarships available you just have to look for them. Use ratemyprofessor.com when selecting your instructors, it really helps a lot!
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who don't want to leave home yet or want to finish the first two general years of their degree without breaking the bank. Also a fantastic school for people returning to finish or pursue new degrees. This school has classes multiple times a day for any work schedule.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot It really depends on the attitude you decide to have. If you're willing to learn, then you'll learn. It depends on the instructors' and professors' attitudes and willingness as well.
Am enjoying being here Hey, it's a community college. There isn't a whole lot of unity or school spirit that you might find at a university. Basically, at spc, you go to class then you go home. There isn't a lot to keep you on campus or involved. They do try with different events that offer free food, but other than that, it's just a place to learn.
Bang for the buck Of course, being a community college, it is much cheaper than a university and good place to get started,
Tips for prospective students If you're not sure of what you want to do, or are trying to save your money, apply at spc. It may seem like an extra year of high school, but once you're completing the same classes that your friends at UF or FSU are completing, you'll feel OK with it.
Great for these types of students People who are undecided about their majors, people who are trying to save money, older students, and non-traditional students.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This college has a lot of opportunities for higher learning, they have some of the best teachers out there. I have had the best lot of teachers I could have possibly asked for in my first year of college!
Am enjoying being here The teachers you get classes with, especially on campus make it enjoyable, they are the best teachers I have ever had. They offer more extra credit opportunities if you are on campus, not so much off campus but thats the decision you have to make.
Bang for the buck ABSOLUTELY! This college offers classes that cost at least under $300, which is a lot cheaper than universities, I have read that for USF its $3,000 for 6 classes, thats $500 a class, SPC is $200 cheaper, so I would suggest for the first two years of a four year degree take your classes here.
Tips for prospective students Check out the campuses, look at the site ratemyprofessors.com for the teachers ratings, if your taking general education classes, for composition I would take Flores, people say he is easy, but he isn't just going to give you an easy A if you don't work for it. He gives out tons of extra credit opportunities. Plus he only works on tarpon, but he has a few online classes going too!
Great for these types of students ANY! It doesn't matter whether you work full time or part time, or even don't work at all you can work the classes around your schedule. This school makes college life simple, and the relationships you create will last a lifetime!

Bang for the buck Since it is a community college it is cheaper than most and they accept a lot of outside money- scholarships and federal aid.
Tips for prospective students Don't be like me and fight against a community college- going will save a lot and go along way.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Well, it's hard to focus at home. Some classes are easy to pass and you don't get much from it. DON'T take math online unless you are good in it (well, anything above MAT0012).
Am enjoying being here I haven't had any issues.
Bang for the buck The price is pretty much the same at any state college or JUCO.
Tips for prospective students Very easy acceptance, very easy online courses. AVOID taking Western Humanities East-West Synthesis. There is ALOT of writing involved, more than any english course I have taken, and that is bad.
Great for these types of students Full time employed, parents.
