    Am learning a lot

The core curriculum here at St. Mary's University focuses on the traditions of the Marianists. As a Biology major with a minor in Psychology, core curriculum courses that focus in the humanities and social sciences are really helping me grasp a well rounded view of the world and not just a focus in medicine.

    Am enjoying being here

The small size campus plus the student ratio to professor carries an exceptional advantage for students who need that one on one experience to do well in their classes. St. Mary's University offers that one on one support everywhere on campus. From the classroom to the Learning Assistance Center, students can always find help here.

    Tips for prospective students

Take advantage of the scholarships and financial aid that this university has to offer you. They really do a great job helping get the best possible financial aid award packages.

Great for these types of students

Students who wish to pursue a career in either Law or Medicine. These are two big programs at this university but all other majors in the liberal arts are also at an advantage here.

    Am learning a lot

I am currently a student at St. Mary's and have learned a lot while being here. I am a biology major and have gained a lot of knowledge in biology. I've learned how to study and manage my time between my social life and my school life.

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at St. Mary's because it is a small campus which is great because you gain one on one time with you professors instead of making appointments like you would at a huge campus.

    Bang for the buck

Any college is going to cost money and St. Mary's isn't cheap so apply for a lot of scholarships and grants because if you get loans its not fun to have to pay them back.

    Tips for prospective students

At St. Mary's University you not only gain a great college experience but you gain a great education as well. For prospective students you should really have your mind set on school before anything else and it will be hard so try to gain study skills while in high school.

Great for these types of students

St. Mary's is great for students who are looking for a good education in different majors especially biology and business.

    Am learning a lot

From dedicated and caring professors to helpful classmates and friendly fathers and brothers from the church ministry, this university has helped me to grow a lot as a person, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Since it is a liberal arts, private and catholic institution, it has a lot of new information to provide for me. One of the strongest majors that it offers is Biology, which is also very challenging. Though, since the student-teacher ratio is about 17 to 1 the professors pay a lot of attention to their students when they need help.

    Am enjoying being here

Since it is such a small school, I have gotten the chance to know a lot of good people since last year. A lot of the students here are very friendly and since the majority of the students are Hispanic, I feel that I can relate to a lot of them. The Greek Life is awesome because not only do its members commit to doing a lot of community service, but they also try to get to know other students and get them involved as well.

    Bang for the buck

This school costs about $36,000 a year, and while this may seem like a lot of money, I feel that every dollar is worth paying for the wonderful education we get here. Not only that, but St. Mary's offers a lot of financial aid and scholarships to a lot of its students. So most people don't even have to pay for half of their tuition.

    Tips for prospective students

My advice to anyone who decides to come here is to meet a lot of people, get connected, stay involved, ask questions if you have them and to stay organized. If you need help with any class, do not be afraid to meet with your professors during their office hours because that's what they are here for. If possible, get into study groups with other students so that you can help others and they can help you as well.

Great for these types of students

People who like to be involved will love this school. We have a lot of opportunities to volunteer for community service around the city of San Antonio. Also, if you like to stand out, this is the school for you. We only have a total of about 3,000 students or less so you get the opportunity to be yourself, and at the same time, do something great that will benefit the school.

    Am learning a lot

I learned so much about psychology and what it really means what a college student means. I am required to take some classes that I really dont want to take but I know later that it will help me in the long run because I can question that the choices I make will really help me.

    Am enjoying being here

Even though our school is small you have lots of organizations that you can join and even greek life here. Just being here has taught me leadership skills and how to relax a little

    Bang for the buck

Yes the tuition is high but it is worth it because you get a good education where the teachers actually want you to succeed. My teachers have given me their cell numbers that why if I have a question I can call them at home.

    Tips for prospective students

You need to make sure that this is the school for you. Talk with the professors about your major if you know it.

Great for these types of students

THis school is great for everyone

    Am learning a lot

Thanks to the Marianist principles at this school, each student, including double majors like myself, can expect to become well-rounded people both academically and individually. Each class provides a challenge of its own, and it’s always an adventure to make it to the end.

    Am enjoying being here

One of the best things about being here is that you can feel at home, even though you might find yourself surrounded by people you never expected. In addition, everybody, including the faculty and staff, is highly encouraging and willing to lend a hand when you need it.

    Bang for the buck

Honestly, the total cost of tuition is pretty scary to look at sometimes, but if you’re willing to overcome that number you’ll find that every dollar is worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

If you do intend to come to St. Mary’s, or any college for that matter, always make certain to stay on top of your finances. While you’re at it, it’s also a good idea to stay on top of your grades because academic achievement is always rewarded here on campus.

Great for these types of students

Students that will be most at home here at St. Mary’s are hard workers, leaders, and those seeking spiritual growth. (You don’t have to be Catholic in order to be included in the latter category; we have all sorts of religious organizations to choose from, including a thriving Islamic society.)

Haven't attended yet but I'm sure i will learn a lot.

    Will enjoy being here

So far from what i have seen everything looks great, but i want to live off-campus for freshmen year.

    Bang for the buck

The cost seems at a good price to go for mostly any body.

Great for these types of students

Great for the students that want to get a medical or law, or basically anything they want to pursue.

    Am learning a lot

I can definitely say that I am learning a lot here at St. Mary's University! When I say I am learning a lot I don't only mean in a classroom. At St. Mary's University I've learned to speak out, help out, and go all out. I haven't only grown mentally, but I've also grown spiritually, emotionally, and personally. The people you meet here are experienced in their specified areas and in the area of life, love, and hard work. I've also learned skills that will be very helpful and convenient in the future.

    Am enjoying being here

I love St. Mary's University. It's truly is my second home, and I rarely go to my hometown anymore. St. Mary's keeps me going and is actively teaching me. Again, it's the people here at St. Mary's that make your experience worth while. This university has so much to do to keep you active and keep your time here enjoyable! St. Mary's has over 82 clubs and 12 NCAA accredited sports teams.

    Bang for the buck

Let me just say. College is definitely NOT cheap! St. Mary's is a bit pricey, but they also offer Financial Aid and scholarships as well as Work-study, which is a convenient job on campus. There is plenty of money out there in the world you can get your hands on, college and St. Mary's University is worth EVERY CENT.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students, if you plan to attend St. Mary's University I suggest that you get involved as soon as you step on campus. When you get involved you meet people. Like I've mentioned before, it's the people that make it worth while. They are also the people that get you through every hardship and over every speed bump on the journey of discovery. ;) Also, take advantage of every opportunity that knocks on your door. St. Mary's offers plenty of free help, for example, mock interviews, help on resumes, community service, they have job/internship fairs, etc. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT ALL!!

Great for these types of students

GREAT FOR ALL TYPES OF STUDENTS! :D From Biology majors to Music majors.

From outgoing students to quiet laid back students. No matter who you are or what your goals are, St. Mary's is a wonderful opportunity for all.

This university is great it offers a great education. The classes are small and you actually get to know your professor. The professors here help you with anything you need. Their main goal is to ensure the student's success and they will work with you to make sure you succeed.

    Am enjoying being here

I love it here. The atmosphere is great and the people and so friendly. The campus is small so it is very easy to make your way around campus. This campus is very family-oriented and people actually know one another here. There is always something to do to make your stay worthwhile.

    Bang for the buck

This university is not cheap as well as others. If you really have your mind set to come here then apply to all scholarships possible. Eventhough it is expensive it is worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

You will not only leave this university with a new experience but also with a great education. The only tip is get ready for college and do everything possible to prepare yourself. Apply for all financial assistance as possible. Trust me you will need all the money you can get.

Great for these types of students

This is a great University for anyone who wants to be more than just another face in the class. Your professors will actually know who you are. This campus has people ready to help you succeed and they will do everything possible to help you graduate and be ready for the real world.

St. Mary's University is a great place to join as a community. It is easy to interact and talk with professors. The success in this university is guaranteed.

    Tips for prospective students

I recommend St. Mary's because the transition is not as rough as it would be in a public university where you would usually become just a number. The ability to have easy access to many resources is definitely given at St. Mary's.

    Academic Rigor

Classes here at St. Mary's are small but not too much. I believe they are the perfect size to have the freedom to interact not only with professors but also with classmates. The academic system here runs smoothly since you can have that face to face contact with your professor.

    Dorm Life

I live in Dougherty Hall and I love it. The room is very comfortable and sharing a restroom with only 3 people is such an awesome benefit, I mean compared to community restrooms. Visiting hours seem to work perfectly for the students and almost every one has a smile on their face when you walk in.

    Food and Dining

Since St. Mary's is a small private university the dining options can be limited but the food is great. We have options from time to time and that works perfectly. They provide healthy choice foods for those that are very concerned about their health.

    What to do for fun

St. Mary's is located in San Antonio, TX, a city full of things to do. Not only that but within the St. Mary's community there is plenty of events to attend during the week. From working out, swimming, playing intramurals, to listening to a great speaker or even attending a battle of the bands event. All these are awesome experiences you don't want to miss at St. Mary's. Don't forget to research Baby Bake and Oyster Bake at St. Mary's because they are so fun!

    Tips for prospective students

my tips for students would be to get involved. st. mary's has so many opportunities for students to know other students and to socialize. also, to be active in their school's community.

    Academic Rigor

the students will find at st. mary's university that it is not easy. the professors are quite difficult, and you will have to always stay sharp and pay attention. the grades will not be handed out on a silver platter. the students have to work for the grade they want.

    Dorm Life

i personally am not a dorm student. however, i have heard that the living conditions there are really good. the bad thing about the dorms is that they are so far away from the rest of the school. however being in the dorms, it gets the students to socialize more with other students, and become more involved.

    Food and Dining

the food and dining at st. mary's is pretty good. the have a wide variety of meals to choose from. also, the have a subway and a small cafe on campus. however, at certain times, the dining hall can get crowded, so it's always important to get there early during lunchtime.

Its fun, safe, inviting and challenging. Its a wonderful experience but not for everyone. Its a small college, small classes, and very friendly.

    Tips for prospective students

Come with a positive attitude, ready to learn, and make friends, don't be shy, if you ever need anything there will be some type of help just ask.

    Academic Rigor

the rigor is based mostly on classification (as a freshman there is many basics) and also on the major (if you picked one you like and are good at then its easy, otherwise then its hard).

    Dorm Life

If you ever feel lonely there will always be someone there if your a sociable person then your perfect for it, living in dorms is a nice experience that you should try no mater where you go.

    Food and Dining

I personally get tiered of eating the same food over and over again, but the food is good.

    What to do for fun

There is a lot to do for fun, in school and in San Antonio so be ready to explore!

Great for these types of students

This school is great for anyone that loves to feel in a friendly environment, loves a close relationship with their teachers, and loves to make friends, and like any college it comes with hard work and dedication, but the teachers and students make it a nice experience.

    Am learning a lot

One of my Core class professors put it best on the first day of class, college is not going from the 12Th grade to the 13Th grade, its more like 12Th jumping to 16Th. With that being said, of course the learning and education here is great, but i believe so more than other colleges around. Smaller classes, Professors knowing your name(for the most part), free tutoring sign up, its impossible to not learn something here. With the SMC(St. Marys core) courses, your view on different aspects can change from class to class, due to the knowledge you obtain from each professor. Just showing up to class can almost guarantee learning something new.

    Am enjoying being here

I really enjoy being here. I didn't come here willingly because i didn't want to stay in Town for college, but i came for the money i was offered, and since then my view has completely changed. Every single student, including the athletes, upperclassmen, and even graduate students are so friendly. You can meet so many friends just from going to the basketball courts, to work study, or going to any of the school organized events. I love that i can walk to class, and see at least one smiling face that i know.

    Bang for the buck

The price here may seem a little scary at first glance, but the scholarship programs here are amazing. I didn't want to stay in town for school, but the amount of money St MU sent my way was undeniable. I'm saying that as a student who didn't do to hot in high school. I guess i can be described as the average B student in high school, but that didn't stop St MU from sending me a great financial aid package. on top of that, in different reviews and magazines, St MU has constantly been ranked among the top best value schools. Your money is best spent here

    Tips for prospective students

I would say to take advantage of Sleeping Bag weekend. That is how many people get the real feel of the school. Don't worry to much about the money. If you can honestly say that you tried in high school, than St MU will help you take care of your financial situation.

Great for these types of students

Overall i think St Mary's is great for any major. The thing about St. Marys is making sure you know how to manage your time. If you can do that you should be all good.
