Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Just because this is a community college does not mean you won't learn a lot! The teachers here are wonderful and, just like any other teacher, they are here for you and want you to strive to do your best. They are always offering help after classes if you don't understand something, as well as being a tutor for you. The learning commons is also another place that you can receive immense amounts of help. It is full of tutors and fellow students who are only there to help. Not only do you get a good education, this time of your life is where you are shaping your future. TCC plays a huge role in that part and teaches you many things you need in life.
Am enjoying being here School is definitely just school, but TCC is a very nice place to be. This is definitely one of the nicest community college campuses around Florida. There is always something going on at the campus whether it's an athletic game or just the market place Thursday. With it always being so busy around that just means that there is always someone to talk to on campus. It's always great meeting new people. The location of this campus is great as well. With smaller schools around, as well as FSU, you really feel like you are in a huge college town. But like I said school is just school so you have to make the best of being on campus and get involved.
Bang for the buck You do get your bang for your buck at TCC. The classes are more than worth it, and I suggest you take as many classes as possible, learning is always something you can get more of. If you are on Bright Futures make sure you are taking the classes that you need and not just random ones to pass the time or take the easy way out. Once the money for those credits are out, you're paying out of your pocket for classes.
Tips for prospective students You wouldn't go on a trip without planning a little, so I suggest looking into the classes and teachers you want to take. For those of you on Bright Futures, make sure you pick your classes wisely because you only get so many credit hours. Meet people in your classes and see if you can split the price of books with them, because they are VERY expensive. Also, if you meet people then you have a friend in case you miss class one day, but that won't happen now will it! One thing you should definitely do is GET INVOLVED! Join a honors group, clubs, work somewhere on campus, help out in the Learning Commons, do something! To get places in life you need to have connections and know people, and that all starts with getting involved. But most of all have fun while your in college. Your only here once, so live it up and learn as much as you can.
Great for these types of students TCC is a great college for ANY student. Being at a community college you really get to see a huge diversity of people. From people of any age, to any ethnicity you will definitely fit in. Also, with having such a great diversity of people you get to know others and their culture. Everyone at TCC is very welcoming and it really adds the the great atmosphere that is already here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have been taking most of the regular classes to get my AA degree to be able to transfer. I have learned and I am still learning a good bit from my teachers. Some teachers just give you assignments, and don't give you a rubric, where others can tell you what format to use, like MLA, and then change it how they want it. Not only are you going to learn about the subject at TCC, but you will also learn how to follow directions. I think that college is not supposed to be difficult, but a puzzle. You have to learn how to follow directions, because if you miss one little thing, it can ruin your grade.
Am enjoying being here School is school, and not everyone can enjoy going. I like it for the atmosphere and the people there. People at TCC are usually very friendly and willing to help and talk to you. There always of course the people who seem stupid, mean, or rude, but the best thing about college is that dealing with them is optional. The teachers are also very friendly and willing to help you understand things easier, just as long as you respect them and do not disrupt the class.
Bang for the buck For the price you pay to go to TCC, it is more than worth it. It is cheaper then a university and you are getting the same exact credit. The class rooms are smaller, so you can ask your teacher questions during class instead of waiting until they have time to try and get an answer. You are paying for this, and getting a little bit better quality than people who go to universities.
Tips for prospective students For starters, if you can, get as many credits out of the way in High School as possible. You will not have to worry about paying for those classes, and you will be ahead in the game a little. If you can not do that, there are other things you can do to make sure you do well. One would be picking your teachers wisely. Of course you have the teachers that do not teache well or a strict. You can use ratemyproffesor.com, but be careful, cause they may not always be true. Another good tip would be to ask students who they took and they liked. You can get a lot of options from that and look for the classes with those teachers that fit your schedual. Of course studying is a bit part of it all and they more you study and practice, the easier it can be. Also, go to class. Even if the teacher says they don't do attendance, which most do, you can miss out on a lot.
Great for these types of students It is great for any kind of student. If you don't know what to do with yourself but want to go to college, a community college is better than a university and this school is perfect for those. I know what I am doing and it is helping me knock out my prerequisite.

Am enjoying being here Every day I find something New to look at or know about.
Bang for the buck Classes are priced at a reasonable rate.
Tips for prospective students Try if possible to dull enroll. It will help you in the long run. TRUST ME!!!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers at TCC also teach at FSU so the education is very valuable and I am learning more at TCC then I've learned my entire four years of high school.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love campus, I go to the gym all the time where I can take kickboxing, spin classes, and tons of others they offer for free! Because the school is smaller than FSU, the gym classes always have room for you and you and its a comfortable size. The campus is beautiful and every Thursday they have a marketplace on the sidewalks where locals sell their handmade jewlery, sunglasses and art. It really is fantastic and I am so glad I chose to be here.
Bang for the buck If you have Bright Futures like me, it is a no-brainer. You get the same education for so much less and your degree that you recieve (if you continue on to a university) does not say you went to TCC or anything, you get the same degree as any other student that went there. It is underpriced for sure and is one of the best financial decisions I ever made.
Tips for prospective students Do not underestimate TCC or any community college because you think it's not the same or not as good as a university. I can honestly say, living with a university student, that I get the same education if not more attention and focus. There are usually 30 people to a class vs. 300 which is always a plus. The campus is huge and the only difference is that you don't live on campus. There are plenty of places around TCC that are walking distance from campus, and TCC is very close to FSU and it is in the heart of Tallahassee.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who are independent, because of the apartment you would have to get, outgoing, because of the amount of different people from all over the country who attend, and ready to learn and work hard because although they give you the attention you need and are there for you, they do not give you any more slack than at a university.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Attending Tallahassee Community College has truly been a blessing! The Professors and the staff members that I have come in contact with during my time here, all have a genuine care and concern about their chosen professions, their students and their customers. Tallahassee Community College also has a beautiful spacious campus with excellent degree programs and helpful student resources, such as the Learning Commons, the Library, and free Wi-Fi.
Tips for prospective students One thing I would advise a prospective student is to be sure of the degree area that they want to pursue for financial aid purposes. If a student starts taking courses in one degree area and then develop the habit of changing the degree area, there is a possibility that the student will have to either pay out of pocket or with a student loan for their classes.
Another tip I would advise a prospective student is to take advantage of the Learning Commons and other student resource areas on the campus. There are professors waiting to sit one on one with you in the Learning Commons during their office hours, just to make sure you actually understand what it is you are learning; and that, aside from God in Heaven, more than any other resource on the campus, is why I, after finishing high school in 1998, am graduating this term with Honors, I am receiving two degrees at the same time, and I'm also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Rho Tau Chapter !Academic Rigor The academic set up at Tallahassee Community College is very easy to comprehend and understand.
Dorm Life There are no dorms on this campus, as it is a community college. However, it is my understanding that the apartments in the area are great as far as location, price and amenities.
Food and Dining The food and dining is good. There's a pizza place with the best garlic rolls in Tallahassee, there's also a Subway, and lastly, a place called McCormick's Deli. These restaurants are all located in the Student Union Building.
What to do for fun For fun, there are different trips offered, contests, concerts, and comedy shows, to name a few, all hosted by Campus Life and the Student Organization Council.
Bang for the buck Shawn Einarson is the best person to consult with for advisement, Dr Melissa Soldani is the best history teacher to have, and Mr. Christopher McNally is the best college prep instructor to learn from.
Great for these types of students This campus is great for all types of students !
Clubs and Activities There are activities such as Rajun Cajun and STU-FAC day where the students and faculty participate experience contests, exotic foods and different cultures.
Greek Life The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society is the only Greek life on campus. I joined this semester and so far, being a member has been a wonderful experience.
Campus Safety All I can say is that the Tallahassee Community College Police Department is the best !! I have had some night courses that I've had to attend at the campus. But no matter what time I left the campus, I've always felt safe and have never had any issues with regards to safety.

Am enjoying being here The atmosphere at TCC is awesome. Everyone tries to get you involved and wants you to feel welcome.
Bang for the buck Most of my classes are reasonable but I still do not understand why we have to pay for prep classes.
Tips for prospective students Look for scholarships and fill out as many as possible. Never give up! come to TCC with an open mind.
Great for these types of students Anyone is a great match for TCC!!!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors at TCC are very dedicated to their work. They really care about their students and students can tell by all the passion they show when they teach. During lectures in class they take time to answer questions and won’t move on until the whole class understands the course work. Students may even find it helpful to visit their teachers during office hours. Another great place is the Library and Learning Commons; students can study and if they need help, there are tutors in the learning commons offering a helpful hand. All of these things put together makes for a great learning environment!
Am enjoying being here TCC is a very beautiful Campus. On sunny days, students with art majors are outside painting the scenery. On Thursdays we have Market days, which is very cool because international students will bring art and souvenirs from their countries. And there is also campus entertainment. They hold several events throughout the semester. There is music, contests, prizes and free food. At TCC there is always something to do and students won’t get bored.
Bang for the buck TCC is very reasonable especially when a student is comparing the credit hours to FSU or FAMU. At TCC its about $75 per credit hour, at FAMU its about $98 per credit hour and at FSU $221 per credit hour. Yes the class room sizes at TCC are smaller. But that is actually a good thing. A teacher cannot possibly help and teach every student in a class room with 100-300 students. Its unreasonable and not fair to the students working hard to succeed. At TCC, students will get the quality, attention and help they deserve and their monies worth.
Tips for prospective students Students will want to register for classes as soon as possible considering that the preferred class times will go fast.
Great for these types of students At TCC students will feel comfortable because of its friendly and diverse environment. And it’s also made very accessible for students who maybe disabled. Its Great for all types of students.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Tallahassee community college is a great school. The professors are very involved in their students education, and there are plenty resources on campus to assist students with any concerns as well. TCC is all about achievement, success, and that's what every student should want.
Tips for prospective students Stay focus in whatever it is you'd like to do, because it is all possible. Don't allow someone to tell you that you can't do something, because if you mind to it you can't fail.
Academic Rigor Determine to graduate with a 4.0, so I'm devoted to my studies. I have sleepless nights, to study not just for exams, but to be familiar with the material; to go meals, don't have time to cook, because I'm need to study. I'm always getting tutored, because you can never know too much. Getting help is always needed.
Dorm Life Never stayed in a dorm. Tallahassee Community College doesn't have dorms, but they should. College students should all experience living in a dorm.
Food and Dining There are different restaurants in the student union, but meals aren't included with tuition
What to do for fun Read, tennis, volleyball, & dance

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I like TCC because it has small class sizes and a variety of students.
TCC caters to my work schedule so that I can take classes at night.
TCC has a great reputation in the community as the best place to train nurses.Tips for prospective students Do orientation as soon as possible so that you can get registered well before the deadline for choosing classes. Avoid the 3 hour weekly classes, they are brutal.
Academic Rigor The classes are challenging, but achievable. All the professors I have had are very interested in helping their students. The Learning Commons is a great resouce.
Food and Dining They have plenty of options for dining at the student union.
What to do for fun There are many state and local parks in Tallahassee. It's not far from St. George Island, there are many clubs on the Tennessee Strip (the main street near the colleges in Tallahassee).
Bang for the buck TCC is very affordable for in-state credit hours. The online courses are also very reasonable, though a little more pricey than campus classes.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus None that I know of
Great for these types of students students right out of high school hoping to transfer to a 4 year University. The credits transfer very well. I am a professional, and the class schedules have worked very well for me.
Campus Safety The campus seems very safe. I am a night student and campus is certainly not desserted at night, so I feel safe walking to my car. However, they need more lights across campus and in the parking lots for night classes.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Tallahassee Community College really has helped me kick start my education in the right direction. The school has respectful professors that know and understand that material they are teaching and there is no cutting corners. Tallahassee Community College staff is always willing to help and never has any issue with helping with problems and questions.
Tips for prospective students A few tips I would give is to use ratemyprofessor.com to its full advantage and make sure you create your schedule around that. Know on a map where your classes before you get to the campus so you won't feel stressed or over whelmed.
Academic Rigor Depending really on what classes you will be taking. The teachers mostly know what they are doing and are very helpful if you have any questions.
Dorm Life It is a good opportunity to live in South Gate for incoming freshman. I did not do that option but all of my friends did and they said you get to meet a ton of new people both at FSU and TCC and it was a great way to connect and meet new friends in the same situation as you.
Food and Dining There are many options all around Tallahassee to choose to eat. You have options all the way from a BBQ place to a nice steak house or even sushi. Very good eating and not bad pricing at all.
What to do for fun There is plenty to do for fun. Besides the nightlife that Tallahassee is known for, there is Lake Ella where many people go to lay out, study, and workout. There is shopping, yoga, nature parks, and many students get jobs that are fun.
Bang for the buck There are always deals going on in Tallahassee and it is a great area to have the college experience in.
Greek Life The FSU Greek Life is an amazing way to meet a ton of people that are just like you and have the same interests.
Campus Safety The campus safety is very good and the campus is always well lit and secure with people patrolling.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences TCC is a great school to attend. The staff members in the library, teachers, and even the campus police don't hesitate to help those in need. Going to TCC was the best decision I ever made.
Tips for prospective students Always ask questions when you're lost. There is always a willing student or staff member ready to answer. They take the time out their schedule to go to locations with you if you still are sure where to go.
Academic Rigor Students excell on all levels of academics. We have a great fire academy program, police academy, dental program, and the list continues. TCC's students take pride in their work and always succeed even if they have a load with families and work.
Dorm Life I'm sure dorm life is great even though I stayed at home. You are able to meet new people and probably your own classmate.
Food and Dining The food is great at TCC. There are cafes with delicious coffee and Subway always has great food.
What to do for fun Join clubs that are interesting to you. The clubs don't discriminate and the members are so nice. All of the clubs help one another out knowing at the end of the day we are still TCC students striving to be the best.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Tallahassee Community College is a great place to enter college. It's cheap, quick, and you learn just as much as any university. Along with the welcoming and helpful staff, TCC is a great college to attend!
Tips for prospective students While this might be wishful thinking, it's best to know what major you're interested in before you start signing up for classes. It would be irritating, to say the least, to save several classes and ultimately choose a major that they weren't required for.
Academic Rigor The classes at Tallahassee Community College are every bit as rigorous as a four year university. Also, depending on the professor one gets, one's class can be harder than the next.
Food and Dining The sandwich places at the Student Union are quaint.
What to do for fun Tallahassee Community College has several clubs and organizations that one can join. Along with social events, TCC creates many experiences for a great social life!
Bang for the buck Though I pay out-of-state tuition, I would have to say that the expenses paid for the courses are phenomenal. I've attended a four year university and TCC has already saved me so much!
Campus Safety The Tallahassee Community College police are always on the look out on campus. It's their job to protect us and they do a phenomenal job!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences despite the stigma against it among many students, tcc is a great place to receive a basic education. almost every teacher i have had has been magnificent; they love what they do and want students to learn. the only downside (in my opinion) is that many of the students are not at all motivated, and the workload is rarely challenging.
Tips for prospective students look for things to do! tcc has many great ways to get involved that you may not notice at first, especially if you live at home and only come to school for class a few times a week. we have intramural sports ranging from flag football to volleyball, all sorts of clubs, and even a few performing ensembles.
Academic Rigor tcc teachers are aware that it is a community college, and that many of the students attending may have jobs, families, or other responsibilities to juggle, so the workload is never excessive. of course some classes are more challenging than others, but 99% of the time, if you show up and participate in class, you can earn an a or a b. even so, the majority of the teachers are very thorough in their teaching- you may not have much work to do, but if you want to, you can learn a lot here.
Dorm Life while there are no real dorms at tcc (many students are local and live at home), there are several affiliated apartment complexes right across the street that are actually quite nice.
Food and Dining inside the student union tcc has multiple restaurants, including a subway, a pizza place, and a place, whose name i don't know, that makes really tasty hash browns. many students and faculty walk across the street to the wendy's on the corner too.
Bang for the buck tcc classes are relatively inexpensive, and most students are eligible for some sort of financial aid. the amount of facilities and activities you will have access to (like free printing in the library, or the free tutoring in the learning commons) makes tcc well worth the money.
Campus Safety tcc police and public safety officials roam the campus constantly, and since the campus is relatively small, there is little land that they cannot cover.

Tips for prospective students file your free application for federal student aid (fafsa) early and complete all tax return information and keep multiple copies.
students, read your tcc passport e-mail often. this is the only way the school and your professors will contact you, if not by mail for legal and/ or orientation purposes.
