    texarkana college has a great programs and is currently expanding. there are small class sizes to focus on more individualized attention. it is a relatively small campus and easy to get around on.
    Tips for prospective students

    check out specific programs. this is a great college to start out at and get your basics because it is cheaper than a lot of other colleges out there.

    great teachers/professors. most of them really care about your success.

    cafeteria food here is among the better of most schools.
    What to do for fun

    bowling alley just down the road, 'college bowl.'

    you have to go to class of course, but you get what you pay for.

    the school's mascot is a bulldog.

    Before Texarkana Community College, I had no clue as to what the future held for me. This school has helped me grow into a more competent person who is now ready to achieve his goals. The professors at this institution are committed not only to teaching, but encouraging their students to think on their own and form into their own person.
    Tips for prospective students

    Prospective students should not hesitate to pursue their goals and should remain persistent. Also, get involved in as many extracurricular activities, and if possible, the Honor Society or Phi Theta Kappa.
    Academic Rigor

    Education is something that these professors do not slack on. They are firm and adamant in the fact that they want you to succeed and meet your goals.
    With that said, the teachers are understanding of certain circumstances and will show lenience when necessary. For instance, while planning to transfer to a four year institution, my teachers gave me leave to take a eight hour round-trip down to the college of my choosing, so I may enroll, register and pick my classes.
    Also, I have met many mothers and fathers who were trying to balance school, a job, and a family; the teachers showed immense support while sticking to the motto of hard work and dedication.
    Dorm Life

    I do not live in the dorms, but I know several people that do, and they seem completely satisfied with their decision to live in the dorms. One of my friends has his tuition and housing paid for as long as he maintains at least twelve credit hours, and he loves living in the dorms. He has told me that dorm life feels as if you are a part of a separate community with people that are as unique as they are bright.
    I realize that a secondhand account of dorm life is no substitute for first hand experience, but I hope this helps those of you that are interested in living in the dorms at Texarkana College.
    Food and Dining

    The Truman Arnold Center is the college's student center; inside the student center is a great-room that is used for presentations and speeches, the college bookstore, a game-room, and a cafeteria with student chefs that are majoring in the culinary arts. These students prepare quick, simple snacks, and amazing meals that range from Spanish, Italian and Asian dishes that are sure to taste good and fill you up.
    What to do for fun

    Spring Fling is a chance for students to gather and have time just to relax, while listening to the college radio station and enjoying a lunch that is paid for by this institution.
    During my second semester, the Spring 2011 semester, the college had a Flashback to the Sixties fest that shared with the students the cultural thrills and trends of the sixties. Most of the departments helped out in someway; for instance, the art department painted dozens of abstract, psychedelic influenced paintings and painted an old fashioned hippy Volkswagen.
    There were also lectures that dealt with the political realm at the time--the Vietnam war, Civil Rights, which included Martin Luther Kings' I have a dream speech.
    Bang for the buck

    Texarkana Community College offers students an outstanding education at a very affordable cost. There are many scholarships that are readily accessible to students and prospective students. I myself received a scholarship that paid my entire tuition for two years; with this, and financial aid, I have been able to attend this college for two years.
    Great for these types of students

    This college is an excellent choice for those that wish climb out of the paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle, which I have lived by for the past twenty years, and obtain a chance to enjoy life. Not only is this school enthusiastic about preparing its students to enter world, but also does this at a very affordable cost.
    Clubs and Activities

    Having the pleasure to participate in the Phi Theta Kappa organization is something I am very proud to say; not only has this opportunity been rewarding in a personal aspect, but also academically, for I am now eligible to receive a substantial amount of financial assistance that is specific to Phi Theta Kappa.
    A group of inspiring teachers have dedicated countless hours into the education of their students and to progress the campus itself; this has launched our Sigma chapter into a high level of esteem.
    There are many other clubs and activities that you may be able to be a part of; there are gaming clubs, clubs specific to departments-biology, math, art, and many other activities.

    Campus Safety

    There are multiple security guards and campus police that patrol the grounds of Texarkana Community College night and day. Not only do they serve and protect the students, they also care and build a personal relationship with many of the students.

    Have really good instructors. It is a growing good college for people with not a lot of money. I recommend this college to first time students.

    Keep your eyes on the prize. Avoid parties.

    Go bowling. Hang out with buddies that share your enthusiasm of fun.

    It's not too expensive, I think the books are more expensive than the courses.

    The wetlands is a location where there are turtles and plants growing.
