    Am learning a lot

    I'm a chemical engineering major, which in my opinion is the hardest major at school not only because of the homework but because it challenges you to think in a completely new way. While other schools might emphasize by-the-book engineering, you're tested on your knowledge of concepts rather than the actual material. This encourages you to apply what you learn in real-life situations, preparing you for the corporate world where an engineering mistake could cost lives. I really enjoy this major and am learning a lot about myself as well as about my engineering field!

    Don't be afraid to get involved and make friends! When I was visiting A&M, I stayed with a friend and really got to know A&M from a different persective than from school-sponsored tours or college websites. Sometimes if you really want to get to know the face of a school, you have to travel off the beaten path. I don't regret one moment, because I loved the overall camaraderie of the school---they don't call it the friendliest campus in America without reason! And even though the traditions might seem a little strange, it's fun to do them with thousands of other people, whether it's standing at a football game yelling at the other team, or honoring the fallen at an amazing Silver Taps. I strongly encourage you to arrange a visit and stay in the on-campus housing with some students and get them to show you around. It's an experience you won't forget!

    Be sure to apply early so you can get as much financial aid as possible! Even if your parents are willing to cover for you, it's nice for you to help in any way you can!
    A&M also has excellent academic programs with cutting-edge technology. Sure, it's an enormous school, but that means they get more funding to provide students with the best they can find. We have a large Library as well as an adjoining Annex, with computers all over the campus as well as wireless access if you brought your own. Don't let anyone fool you--- we're definitely a school that knows where it's going, full of students who have what it takes to succeed and are bent on learning first.

    Tips for prospective students

    Get to know the face of the school--- not just what the website says. Go talk to the advisor for your prospective major in person and ask them why they chose their field. Sometimes learning more about what you want to do AFTER college can help you decide which college will help you. And, like I've said, make sure you like the environment. It's just as important to enjoy your college experience as it is to learn a lot from a good program!

    If you like history and traditions, this college is DEFINITELY the best choice. From our Aggie War Hymns to our fun football yell leaders, participating in our time-honored traditions brings us closer together and creates a sense of family with everyone at school, even a school as large as A&M!

    I am a Theatre Major at Texas A&M, a program most people are unaware even exists. It is tough being in a small department in a large school, but simply due to the Aggie Network and facilities present for all students, even those of us in small departments are learning as much as we possibly can. I have taken engineering Math and Physics classes as well, though, and can say that they are rigorous and will teach you everything you ever wanted to know and more.

    I am also a proud member of the fightin' Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. Often called the largest fraternity in the world, it is much more than that. It is a leadership training program unlike any other in the world. The people I have met in the Corps, as they say in Aggie land, will probably marry me and bury me.

    Even out of the Corps, I find myself enjoying life the most I possibly could. The night life, even for a small town, always has something available (if you're willing to Two-Step). The countless clubs and extensive list of P.E., or Kinesiology, classes can add the right amount of fun to your academic day.

    Being from out of state, it was worrisome picking a Texas school due to finances. But by joining the Corps of Cadets, I received a moderate scholarship, which ALSO gave me instate tuition. The facilities I have access to as a student and clubs and social groups I am able to join are phenomenal. The classes are challenging and will teach you everything you need to know, and the Corps will provide you with training that you can't get anywhere else.
    Tips for prospective students

    Apply early. I applied early December and got my acceptance letter in January. This gave me time to think about the decision I was about to make.

    Join the Corps. The scholarship, guaranteed on-campus housing, academic support only available to corps members, and leadership training, not to mention the friends you will make, are so very important. Also, Aggie traditions are all based in the Corps, and those not in the Corps don't understand some of the most important aspects of being an Aggie.

    Visit the college. I can tell you everything great about it, but you need to visit and make sure it fits you.

    There is no one that A&M, and the Corps, is not perfect for. The reason I went there ultimately is that it was a huge school, and since I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to major in, I knew I would find something if I stuck around long enough (and I have).

    At Texas A&M it is easy to learn as much as you wish. For those who need to absorb just a small amount at a time, less classes with study sessions put on by the Teacher Assistants (TAs) help. However, for those who are driven and wish to learn as much as possible, the honors program offers classes of small numbers where you can study in depth and have discussions with classmates and professors. Additionally, these classes are excellent to take because the majority of the professors have received a doctorates in their field and conducted research.

    College Station itself is an excellent city to live in. It combines a small town feel with all the big city convenience. From a mall to live entertainment, staying busy is not a problem. Also, because College Station is so centered around the University, the residents are willing to help with anything students need; hotels allow students to study in their lobby while providing milk and cookies, Texas A&M banners hang in all the stores and restaurants, and college student apartments and housing is readily available at a reasonable cost.

    Texas A&M literally tries to get students everything possible for their tuition fees. Students have access to different student services like a writing center that will help with papers and research, to a testing center that will help you to study better and make learning easier, to an on campus health center, and even small things that make huge differences like 300 free prints a semester in the computer center and access to free programs at the recreation center.
    Tips for prospective students

    Don't be afraid to ask questions. Be it in the classroom or out. In class, asking a question could be the difference between a B and an A. By asking questions on campus you will find that you discover groups and activities to be involved in much faster. The nice thing is, here, no one gives you looks for being curious.

    Texas A&M is an excellent university for those students who love or don't mind traditions. A&M is full of traditions from the campus grounds itself to football and even the student body corp. Even more so I think A&M is for students who don't feel comfortable attending a big city university and who want to feel like they are part of a family.

    I can honestly say that in just one year at A&M i have learned so much. I studied more in one semester than i did in all of high school together. But Because you have more freedom here and are able to do things the way you want to and are able to manage your own time, you not only learn about academics but you also learn about other things that prove valuable later in life.

    I won't lie, at the beginning i strongly despised A&M. I am a city slicker, politically liberal, and am very go green and A&M wasn't exactly the school that fit my personality best. But i started to get involved. There are so many organizations that you can join basically anything. I ended up joining a freshman leadership organization and have met so many people that are just like me. It proved that there were other people in the same boat that i was in. Now i have made friends that i know will last a lifetime and wouldnt change schools for any reason. It might take time to find where you belong and fit in, but with so many organizations available you are sure to fit in somewhere.

    A&M is one of the cheapest schools in the country, but the education you recieve is superb. A&M is continually been rated the best school for payback in future slaries for what it costs to attend. A&M also offers many scholarships for its students. I personally think A&M is the best value out there and there are the stats to back up my opinion.

    The best tips i can give to prospective students are to go where your heart wants you to go to school. Because if its what you want, then you will succeed at it. Also apply for financial aid in high school. There are so many more available scholarships in High school than when you are in college, so take advantage of it. And Last but not least, once you get into your school, get involved. You will meet so many different people with different backgrounds and people with similar goals and interests. It sounds so cliche, but it truly is very vital to enjoying college.

    There is no certain type of student that fits A&M. A&M accepts everyone for who they are and actually encourage differences in people. I am a testimony to that because i do not fit into the white, conservative, Country stereotype that A&M has. No Matter what you stand for and what you like to do, you can and will find people just like you to fit in with.

    The professors at Texas A&M are well prepared and does a good job at covering all of the material at a timely pace. Some post the powerpoint slides the day before so that you can have them in class and take notes on stuff he talks about. They have their office hours readily available and even have SI sessions which is basically private tutoring for free.

    Honestly I didn't think going to school would be this good. The environment is perfect for students to learn and everyone respects one another and is treated like an adult. Everyone is really nice and help is always available. If you go to any games whether they win or lose it's an enjoyable experience being together with your fellow Aggies and supporting your school.

    Texas A&M offers aid for those in need and even if you're not poor, if you apply early you can still get some kind of aid from the school. The catch here is to fill out the FAFSA as soon as your parents do their tax form and get it in before the due date. If it's an emergency you can give the financial aid office a call and they'll most likely find some way to help you. They are very helpful people and will make sure to tell you everything you need to know in great detail.

    I strongly advise that you do the basic courses in community colleges and not at the University. It's alot more work and studying you have to do and just added stress you have to go through when you're trying to study for the more difficult courses such as Calculus or Physics. If you're one of those kids that are lazy and don't like to study, you're in for a big wake up call your first year of college. You'll realize that you have to change your study habits if you want to pass as the workload in college is overwhelming sometimes. My biggest advice would be to not fall behind and always study everyday. Even if it's only for 30 minutes or else you're going to be cramming it all the night before and I guarantee that you won't be able to cover everything. Oh, and don't study in your dorm or your apartment. Go to the library where it's quiet and in an environment where everyone else is working. If you're at home, there are so many things to distract you so doing it in the library will help prevent alot of the distractions. Hope this helped!

    Texas A&M is ranked pretty high up in the nation for engineering majors and have a good program for that so if you're interested in the engineering field this is definitely a school you need to attend. Also, if you're really into school spirit and love football then this school is a must because it's everywhere during football season.

    I am going into my sophomore year here in a couple weeks. The first year was really a reality check compared to high school. Some of the classes are huge and some are a size that I was used to. But the resources available to any student are amazing! No matter what you need help with, it's there for the taking.

    My home is about a 12 hour drive from school so it was pretty different. But you will meet so many different people that you would never had imagined if you don't step out of the box a little!

    A&M has so many resources that are readily available, it is amazing. How much you learn is really up to you! Take advantage of the great professors and teaching assistants, and the computers have every program imaginable. If you really dive into the material, almost every class is eye-opening and applicable to your major and your life!

    Key advice: Get involved! My first semester, I was only involved in intramurals. They were fun, but it wasn't until I was busy with my fraternity that I really made friends and study buddies! The A&M campus is alive with tradition - Don't be shy, become the spirit!

    Of course, A&M is a big Texas school and they can basically charge what they want and still have students lining up. However, regardless of the almost $20,000 per semester, the knowledge and experience I have gained is an investment that I know will pay off!

    Apply early, and take advantage of AP testing - getting classes out of the way for free is invaluable! It has allowed me to focus on classes closer to my interests and my major. Also, put your heart and soul into that essay! It really counts!

    Go to class! Every class can be passed as long as you attend it on a regular basis. Also, live on campus your first year. You'll be right in the middle of everything and you will meet so many new people. You also will be more likely to go to class. Get involved! A&M encourages every student to play an active role on campus. It's a lot of fun and you meet amazing people.

    All of the professors i've had so far have all been extremely knowledgeable about their subject, making me feel as if i've made the right choice in classes. Classes can range anywhere from a few people to a few hundred people, but the professors always get their point across, letting you know what needs to be learned.

    I went to four high schools, each in a different area, and never in my life have i ever felt more at home than here. From the moment i moved in, residents of my dorm that had already lived there were outside offering a helping hand and information about the barbeque they were having for new residents. These people have now become my best friends and shown me what it's like to have a home away from home.

    Everything you can think of is offered here. Shuttle buses run every twenty minutes for those of you without cars, and even then, any place on campus can be walked to in no more than twenty minutes, and biked to in around ten. Everyone on campus is extremely nice, and it is even encouraged to say howdy to anyone you pass, showing how friendly we like to be. All professors are available before and after class. and have at least two office hour days that you can go in to their office and talk with them.

    Study! No matter if you had to or not in high school, studying is going to be the key to passing your classes. GO TO CLASS! While some teachers teach straight from the book, I've experienced tests that have questions like In class, i said..., etc. If you live on campus, go and make friends with your dorm-mates, you'll be living with them for at least a semester, might as well make friends, right?

    People who want a strong, tradition-based schooling, and anyone who wants a college experience that will be unforgettable. NEtworking opportunities later in life, as well, as Aggies always stick together.

    I am a Computer Science major and I am learning much about both computer science and everything else for that matter. Texas A&M has a little bit of everything on every degree plan to make sure that each student gets a well rounded education. For example, one of my degree requirements is that I take a course on cultural diversity, and of course there is the standard history, math, science, etc. All of the professors I have know their subject extremely well and this helps me because they make difficult subjects easy to understand.

    When you can walk up to a stranger, say howdy, and just start up a random conversation without them thinking your wierd, you know there is something different about the school. I enjoy the fact that all of the students are like one big family and the fact that everyone is very accepting of who everyone else is and their beliefs. Not only that, but there are over 900 student organizations so every single person can find a group of people with similar interests, and if for some reason they can't, students are easily able to make their own. I enjoy being here because of the friendly environment.

    At less than $20000 a year, A&M is a great school especially with the high quality professors the school has, such as Nobel Laureate Dudley Herschbach for starters.

    You will need to study much more than you ever needed to in the past, no matter how smart you are. Also, get involved in at least 2-3 organizations your freshman year. Not only do they help you meet new friends, but they also look great on resumes for scholarships.

    A&M will be a great fit for any student and I mean ANY. I don't care what your beliefs are (religious, political, etc.) what your ethnic background is, or anything else, you will feel welcome here.

    There are so many tools like tutoring services, the library, office hours, and more. Even though the courses are tough, when you need more explanation it is available, allowing you to learn so much.

    The people are friendly. It is always nice to get a smile and a howdy from a stranger, especially if it has not been a very good day. The campus is large, but there are always buses available. The town seems pretty safe to me compared to many others I have been to. Being a runner, that is a very important quality.

    Texas A&M is an excellent school, but very challenging. You have to be prepared to work diligently. However, help is available in many different ways.     It may sound cliche, but it's cliche for a reason; I have definitely learned much more at Texas A&M in the year and a half that I've been here than I did in all four years of high school. The majority of professors are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their classes and give you the tools you need to understand material and succeed. The campus is peaceful (except during finals week) and there are plenty of places to study and get other work done.

    Choosing A&M is one of the best decisions I have made in my life thus far. It is a friendly, welcoming campus where people say Howdy! with a smile to complete strangers, the professors are just as helpful, and you can meet your best friend simply by joining an organization. The social scene covers everything from country two-stepping halls to rifle-shooting ranges to golf courses to student organizations. The Rec is also a huge part of student life here; membership to the multi-acre on-campus gym is included in tuition/fees, they offer group classes and boot camps, and they can help you stay in shape and manage stress.

    Bang for the buck

    The connections you make and the Aggie network you gain is definitely worth the cost of attending; qualified Aggies are more likely to get hired by Aggie bosses than alumni from other colleges.
    A&M offers financial aid to almost every student and has fairly low tuition if you live in-state.
    A&M was also named #9 on The Princeton Review's top 100 best value public colleges in January 2010 based on financial aid, costs and other criteria (USA Today).
    Tips for prospective students

    Make sure you live on campus your freshman year; you'll learn the campus and be more likely to go to class (plus, you can sleep-in longer!).
    Find your niche and join an organization; you'll meet friends that you will have for a long time and learn how to get along with a diverse group of people.
    Get to know your professors and advisors; they really do care when you show that you care.
    Utilize free resources like the Career Center, Student Computing Center, and Writing Centers in the libraries; the employees in all of these centers are extremely helpful.
    Go to at least one football game and witness the most amazing student section in the country; being surrounded by thousands of unified people is a surreal experience that is unmatched.
    Great for these types of students

    If you're willing to work hard and go to a really large school, Texas A&M is for you. There is no specific type of student, because essentially everyone can find a place in College Station where they fit in. But if you love traditions, forget about every other school and go to A&M. It's firmly rooted in tradition, honor, and excellence, and has been since 1876.
    Also, if you're thinking about going into the military, join the Corps of Cadets of Aggieland and get an edge for a future career in the armed forces.

    Some classes are made to be weed out classes. These determine who is willing to go the extra mile to do ridiculous amounts of work. Other classes are more up front about their content, like Physics 218 and Math 151.

    Sometimes it gets really lonely, and weekends after football season are really quiet. However, there's always something to do and the dorms always have activities for the people that stay on campus.

    All of the teachers are super willing to help you when you need it. The TA's are critical too. BECOME THEIR BEST FRIEND. It helps so much because they meet with you one-on-one. That way, it's so much easier to learn than when you're just one person who doesn't understand in a class of 100 kids.
    Tips for prospective students

    Establish relationships with your professors and TA's. Seriously. On the first day of class, go up to shake their hand and introduce yourself. Sit in the front of the class. If they know who you are on a personal level, then they're more likely to give you a little extra help if you need to bump that D up to a C, or that B to an A.
    Definitely go tour the campus and the residence halls before you commit to the school. A&M is one of those places where you either have a love story with it, or you're there for an academic program that's not offered anywhere else.

    A&M has a huge Christian student community, so it's great for people who love their church family. You have to get used to the people that approach you to share their faith, and sometimes that can get awkward. This school is great for people who are interested in a fantastic engineering, Physics or Veterinary/ Agricultural sciences program.

    In my opinion, learning truly comes down to the quality of the professors and the student atmosphere. At Texas A&M, the professors are generally very good. Most are interesting, clear, and care about the students. The reason I do not give this 5 stars is because Texas A&M is a research institution and there are definitely professors and teachers assistants that are here for research, not teaching! I am a civil engineer major so I naturally have more TA's and professors like this than other majors. Furthermore, the student environment is great. Nearly every student is driven to do well, but not to the point of obsession. Group studying is accessible.

    Texas A&M is extremely unique. The quality of people on campus is what makes this school so enjoyable. Most students are respectful, caring, and enthusiastic. It is tradition to say howdy to everyone you walk by. We also have many ways to get involved here. There are a ton of organizations for any interest you may have. It is so easy to get involved, make friends, and enjoy yourself in college.

    I belive Texas A&M was ranked 9th in the nation for the best value public school in a Princeton Review study. Tuition is not too much and scholarship help is available. The job placement and quality of education that you receive at Texas A&M is equivolent to many expensive private schools.

    Do not let fear hold you back! You only go through college once, and there are so many opportunities available. This is especially true at TAMU. Go try new things, meet new people, and learn about yourself. Acadmically, get to know the professors! Go to class! Read the textbook!

    The list of types of students that would enjoy TAMU would be long, so instead I will list types that may not enjoy the school. Texas A&M is one of the most conservative schools in the nation. I believe anybody would fit well here, but I would be advised that maybe less than 20% of the student body considers themselves liberals. Also it is a school of 40,000 students. So if you hate the feeling of a big school, then you may want to look elsewhere. However, you will see many people in your specific major and find your niche!

    I'm currently enrolled in the business school here at Texas A&M, and I'm hoping to do the professional programs in accounting which means you get your masters and undergraduate in accounting in five years. The business courses here are pretty time consuming, but if you don't get behind and study a little everyday, you'll do fine. The accounting department here really helps you get prepared to take your CPA or certified public accountant exam, which looks amazing to companies. The marketing major isn't recommended because it's not that great at A&M, although finance, supply chain, and accounting are the best majors here.

    Other majors at A&M that are good: the vet school is one of the best in the nation, the engineering program is very good, and business is pretty good.

    It's definitely very different from Dallas because it is a smaller city, but don't let people tell you that it's in the middle of nowhere and people ride horses to school. It's just not true. Although it is pretty far out, there are many many restaurants, bars, and places to go out at night. The movies here are only $4 dollars for students, and the people at A&M are so incredibly friendly. This campus is very conservative which sometimes I don't click well with, but definitely one of the friendliest campuses. Sometimes people think A&M can be cultish, which is true, but it's also amazing at the same time to see how much school spirit and tradition this school has. If you're big on school spirit and love traditions, this is definitely the place for you.

    This school is extremely cheap, and the network here is amazing. The cost is way less than most other Texas schools, and you definitely learn a lot. Plus, networking is going to be one of the most important things later on in life, and aggies always hire other aggies. Ranks go out every year on colleges that you get the most value for your money, and A&M is always near the top of those lists.

    The most important tip is don't fall behind. If you can keep up with your readings and do all your homework not right before it's due, you'll do fine in college. People have the most trouble with time management. It's amazing how much time you can waste just surfing facebook or being in another person's dorm. I never study on fridays and saturdays because I make sure I get my homework done during the week, and then I take time off on the weekends. Also, get involved in something early. Don't take off more than you can handle, but if you get really involved in maybe 2 clubs, that's where you will make all your friends. It's hard to stay friends with people you see in class. Plus, employers look very heavily on leaderships as well as GPA when they're looking to hire, so leadership is extremely important.

    This school is great for students that love school spirit and tradition. Also, if you love being around people, this school is great for you because there are over 45,000 students at this school. It's not very big city type of atmosphere obviously. It has more of a suburbs feel, so this place is not for people who hate the suburbs, although the location is great because college station is right in the middle of houston and austin. It's about an hour to two hours drive to either place, so it's fun to visit on the weekends.

    I have learned an incredible amount in just one short semester here at Texas A&M. I've worked like crazy to learn everything I need to know in chemistry. I've also had to learn how to really study more thoroughly than I did in high school. I've learned how to balance homework and naps. Not only have I been learning in class, but outside the classroom as well. I've learned all about the aggie traditions and all the yells the students do at football games. And I've learned some surprising new things about myself as well.

    When I began applying for colleges, I was worried about whether or not I would like Texas A&M, since I came from such a small high school, and A&M has nearly 50,000 students enrolled. It took one week of classes, one Midnight Yell Practice, one football game, and I was hooked. For life. Now, moving on to my second semester here, I know deep down that there is something special about Texas A&M. The entire school, in fact the entire town, comes alive with tradition, the sense of family, and, of course, that good old Fightin' Texas Aggie Spirit. My whole life I've been searching for a place where I belonged, a place that I feel in my heart is home. I believe I have found that place here at A&M. It is a school unlike any other. It offers the best academics to students willing to take on the challenge. It provides students with the opportunities and tools necessary to excel. But most of all, the generosity, kindness, and acceptance shown by the students, the Aggie Family, is what defines Texas A&M for me. I started out looking to earn a degree. What I've ended up getting is so much more than just a piece a paper. I would encourage any student to explore and discover all that A&M has to offer.     Texas A&M, is, unfortunately, a rather expensive school. However, every student will agree, that degree is worth all the blood, sweat, tears, and every hard-earned cent. Not to mention the coveted Aggie ring and the Aggie Network that comes along with that are priceless.

    Any student who wishes to attend A&M should definitely focus on keeping up their grades in high school. If you fall in the top 10% of your class, you can automatically be accepted into A&M. Good study habits will help prepare you for college classes. Taking AP classes/dual credit courses can be very beneficial, as getting those hours out of the way in high school means less to do in college. Also, extracurricular activities, community service, and just being involved in general are key.

    Texas A&M is great for ALL students. There are many different degree plans offered by the university that there is certainly something for everyone, ranging from engineering to agriculture, and from business to medicine. Our campus was also rated one of the most diverse in the country. It is a place where students from all walks of life are accepted into the Aggie Family.

    The classes I am taking this year as a freshman are helping me learn alot of new ideas and criteria for the classwork while also helping me learn how to apply it to my daily life, future career plans, and my current major. My classes are intense but also fun and I can honestly say I have never been bored in my classes.

    Definately take notes though in all your classes because teachers will say many important things that you won't always remember right away but you will definately want to remember later.

    This campus is extremely fun and there is always something to do here. There are many different clubs, societies, volunteer opportunities, shows, activities and everything that you could ever want in a college. Our school participates in community service constantly, which is a huge factor to me but we also have fun with battle of the bands competitions, the humans versus zombies campus wide game, and many others.

    I am currently in many clubs this year as a freshman and I am having the best time of my life here by meeting new friends and participating in many great opportunities that were normally not available to me.

    The tradition here is another thing to enjoy. Midnight yell practices before football games, pond hopping while yelling for your graduating class year, silver taps, watching our mascot, Revielle, walking across campus; these are all amazing things that make Texas A&M an amazing school and an extremely fun place to be.

    Although this college is expensive, the opportunities and services it offers are beyond what you can expect. Included into tuition is the campus & city wide bus service that can take you to all your classes and around the Bryan/College Station area in a timely manner that is also enviromentally friendly. Tuition also includes the maintenence on your dorm if needed, recycling facilities, housekeeping in the dorms, and many other services.
    Tips for prospective students

    Apply for both your enrollment and housing as early as possible. The earlier your application is accepted, the more time you have to prepare for everything you must do and bring with you before coming to Aggieland. If you have a specific dorm preference, like for your own private bathroom, I would definately apply as early as you can to ensure you get the space that you want.

    Also do your research as to meal plan options you might consider, job opportunities available for work study students, and parking garages or lots that are convenient to get to when needed if you choose to bring your vehicle.

    I also strongly recommend that if you are accepted to A&M that you attend a Fish Camp session. This session will group you with upperclassmen that are very helpful to you and will answer any questions you have throughout your college career, teach you the traditions of the campus, as well as help you make great friends to start college with.

    Anyone who loves traditions or wants to be in a family enviroment while still attending a major university. It is also a great college for those students who are not sure what they want to do because there are many options at this college, as well as for those who know exactly what they would like to do because the training and learning enviroment for majors is both beneficial and rewarding.

    I am an Industrial Distribution major and I'm loving every minute of it! The Industrial Distribution program at Texas A&M is one of the best degrees you can get. It is a well rounded program that focuses on all of the aspects that define Industrial Distribution. My courses consist of Business, Logistics, Sales, Engineering Technologies, and Supply Chain. All of these topics are must knows in the I.D. world. The I.D. program connects students with industry leaders through events, business meetings, and career fairs. A lot of the classes that I have taken have consisted of numerous group projects, which makes for a more hands on experience. I feel that what I have learned so far, and what I will learn will have completely prepared me for the type of work that I'm going to do after college. All the professors in this program have industry experience and are not afraid to give us the insight in to all things industry. This definitely makes classes fun and interesting. So what else is there to say besides....Choose Texas A&M Industrial Distribution!

    College Station, the name says it all. It's a college town that’s for sure. But it's not like any other college town. For those of you who thing Austin is a college town, you're in for a surprise when you visit College Station. Everyone is so friendly! There is so much to do in the area. Football game weekends will put a huge smile on your face, if you like crowds; people come from all over to watch the Ag's give their opponents hell. Tailgating is probably the most fun thing you could ever experience on a football weekend! Both Old Ag's, Current Ag’s and New Ag's stake out spots to BBQ and drink cold ones (if you're of age, of course) all day. Aggie football is just a small part of College Station though. I'm sure you've heard the name North Gate used when people talk about aTm. Let me tell you first hand, North Gate is a great place to go whether you're under age or of age. I am personally a fan of the dancehalls, and there are two that are 5 star in my opinion. The Texas Hall of Fame and Hurricane Harry's. Must go! I also enjoy going into the downtown area in Bryan. There are really cute boutiques and good dining down there. A lot of diamond in the rough restaurants in downtown Bryan, and it gets you away from the crowded College Station restaurants on game day weekends! When spring time rolls around and the days get hot you can find a lot of aTm students out at Lake Bryan after, in between, and sometimes even during classes. It's not the most spectacular lake but it suits us college students just fine. Another spring time love of mine is, Aggie Baseball. If you're a baseball fan or think you might be I highly suggest going to EVERY game! The student section gets rowdy and the games are always a blast! The tailgating is a close second to football season tailgating as well! There is so much that I know I'm leaving out about why I LOVE being in College Station, but just accept your admission to aTm and you'll see for yourself!

    Yes, tuition is expensive. Tuition is expensive everywhere! I personally feel that what I am paying for college I am receiving every bit of that amount in the education. I am paying for my college through student loans, and I've heard all the horror stories about being in debt because of student loans after college. The reason I am not worried about that is because i know through my education at aTm I will be placed in a well respected job that will aid in taking care of those loans. There’s not much more to say about money. It's pretty cut and dry. I do however recommend that you look EVERYWHERE for scholarships! Every little bit counts!

    My first tip would be, if you can stand to, live in the dorms. I have personally never lived in the dorms and I do feel like I missed out on getting to know a lot more people that way. The tradition at aTm is never ceasing! If you love tradition you will love going to school here! I’m a senior in college and I’m still learning new things and traditions that aTm has. Get involved, Texas A&M is know for all the service organizations we have. I am in 4 organizations and wouldn't have it any other way. The organizations range from the Greek system to major specific organizations to strictly service. All of these organizations will make you feel more of the Aggie family love that we all share, and will strike friendships that will last a lifetime. Now down to the nitty gritty stuff...STUDY. I learned that lesson and learned it well my freshman year. I thought i could get by with the minimal amount of studying...wrong. After my freshman year I worked hard on my procrastination, and I'm a firm believer that if you do not procrastinate you're a step ahead in the game. Lastly, I know that when I went off to college I was confused and worried because I really didn't know what I wanted to do for sure. That's okay! Texas A&M's staff are the most helpful people I've ever come into contact with in my whole life! I met with a career counselor my whole spring semester of my Sophomore year, and by the next fall I was accepted into the Industrial Distribution program. If you didn’t notice through my bragging above, I really love my major and was able to find my fit with help of the aTm staff!

    I think that Texas A&M is a well rounded school and has a place for every type of person. I've met so many different kinds of people, and I believe that is one reason why aTm is so special to me. This school has given me a chance to meet so many amazing people, and not one of them is the same! Yes, it helps if you're an outgoing person; but I think that’s criteria for any college. If you're worried about not fitting in, don’t be worried about that. There is a place for you at Texas A&M!! I hope all this information was helpful, and I hope that you chose Texas A&M!!     Texas A&M is known for having good academics, and for good reason. But some professors simply don't have a good enough grasp on the English language to effectively communicate the information to the students. The best way to learn the most here is to go to a website that has student reviews on professors, and pick your professors based on past student reviews if at all possible.

    Texas A&M has so many different student organizations, it's almost impossible to not find one that interests you. I have always been fairly shy around people I don't know, but everybody in class is so friendly that it's really easy to make friends. I love A&M so much.

    Considering the reputation behind A&M, the tuition really isn't that bad. So many other colleges and universities charge well over twice or three times what A&M does, and the students at those colleges don't get as good of an education.

    Take as many AP courses as you possibly can. Those history courses that you could have tested out of really get in the way of the courses you want to take. Also, don't be too proud to go to tutoring if you're having trouble. You're paying for your classes now, so you really don't want to fail them. Everybody goes to tutoring.

    A&M is obviously great for engineering students and business students, but there's a lot of other programs at A&M that are much smaller. The engineering classes are huge, sometimes more than 300 people in a class. But honors sections and courses that aren't required can have very few students. A&M has something for all students, it just depends on what your major is going to be.

    Texas A&M University has the professors in the world when it comes to student interaction. This last semester alone I learned more than I did in all four years of high school! I was able to get to know every single professor I had on a name basis. Everyone is willing to help you and to make you successful. There is no reason why a student should ever feel lost for help because it is everywhere you turn. This is a place for students to succeed.

    College Station is an amazing place to be. If you are excited to get out and socialize, there are tons of organizations to get involved in. Even as a freshman, I am a member of three organizations and a judging team in my department. The dance halls are so much fun and safe. I have never had a moment that there is nothing to do or when I didn't feel safe going out on my own.

    Here at Texas A&M University you always pay for 15 hours of classes even if you only take 12. The only thing that I can say is that you should be sure you take advantage of that fact and take at least 15 hours a semester. In your student fees you pay for the recreational center, a medical center, and transportation buses. Be sure you utilize them! They are worth every single penny.

    Students that plan to come here need to be sure that they figure out the layout of the campus. The best place to eat on campus is Sbisa as it has the biggest choice of food and it is all you can eat. There are also other places all around campus that are awesome too. The buses are one of the best things to take advantage of. They have saved me so much money on gas. When you pick dorms, try to get a modular room as they are the biggest and the nicest. When you schedule a New Student Conference, be sure that you get the earliest one possible so that you can get the best classes and professors.

    Students that come here should be ready to get to know people. The experience that you get here isn't just in the classroom. It is also out in the community and through involvement on campus. Many say that this is a university for the hicks from the sticks but they can't be more wrong. I have met so many people from so many places and I can say that this is one of the best decisions I have made in my short life thus far. Students need to be willing to put themselves out there and talk to their professors because otherwise you can simply fade into the crowd. Just don't be afraid to get involved and have some fun while you are here!

    Every day in class there is something new to be learned. I am a mechanical engineering major here, so the classes I'm taking are pretty difficult, but the professors are usually very open to students asking questions and going to office hours. In my experience, they want you to learn and they want you to take the initiative to get better. There will be times where what is happening in class won't make any sense, but as long as you talk to the professor and make friends in your classes for study groups, you should be fine.

    I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere in Aggieland is like none other. People are very friendly and there are so many different organizations and such to get involved in. There's a spirit can ne'er be told.

    Talk to your professors. They really do care. Sometimes it can help you at the end of the semester as well if you go in and talk to them, becuase then they know that you care about their class.
    Don't forget to study. Haning out with friends and dancing is great, but especially those of you going into engineering or something of the sort, classes and studying are a big time commitment if you really want to succeed.

    Teachers are willing to help you if you do not understand what is being taught.Do not panic and think your going to fail a class because then you will fail if no help is seeked.     I learned a lot from the business courses I took. I feel very prepared for more advanced courses in accounting and in Information systems with the knowledge I gained from the prerequisite classes for the upper level. The math courses that I took both from engineering and in the business department was mostly teach yourself classes. For extra help, you must go to office hours outside of class which I didn't always have time for so just plan around that. Engineering prerequisites were terrible. Professors and all. I didn't learn hardly anything. Science classes (Chemistry and Physics) were very well organized and I learned a lot from these departments.

    What kept my interest at this school was the campus involvement. You really get a great college experience if you put yourself into the institution. I did Fish Camp, leadership groups, a singing group, and cheerleading. It gave me a place in the university. My first year I didn't get involved and I really did not have a good time. So just put yourself into the school and you will get a lot out of it. I found that if not it was not very enjoyable of a place to be. Find a balance, though. Don't get involved too much or your grades will suffer. Pick one thing to get involved in and focus on school the rest of the time since it is very demanding. But it is enjoyable, but you have to make it that way.

    This institution is pretty high priced because of how great of a research institution it is. But what I have found is that the professors, while very knowledgeable, aren't very good at teaching actually. This was only from core classes/ prerequisites (weed out classes), but I did not find it that great of a learning experience. The professors were wise and knew their stuff, but it seemed that they expected us to be as knowledgeable about it as they are and it ended up not being a good class. I had to try and teach myself a lot, and the material taught in class wasn't always the material on the tests. It sometimes seemed like the professors were making the tests incredibly difficult just to do so. I didn't feel like you got the proper teaching for the money you were paying, but some others did fine. I might have just had a different learning experience.

    For those of you looking to go to Texas A&M, make sure you know how to study. Even if you are the top of your class at you high school, you could be the bottom of the class at A&M. From what I found in my time at Texas A&M, you have to be able to know how to teach yourself some concepts and really study in almost all of your free time. Also, though, you need to have a balance so get involved in something! The balance is key, but don't lose sight of your studies or you will get very behind.

    This University is great for the students who either are looking for leadership opportunities and are very involved with community service and school spirit. Those pursuing leadership, engineering, and business degrees should look into Texas A&M. It has a lot to offer!

    Everyone I talk to has wonderful things to say about this school. My mother tells me how one of the Latin American Presidents studied at A&M, and that the founders of Pixar went to A&M as well. My sister is seriously considering transferring here.

    Texas A&M offers a top-notch education, no matter what your major is. I am currently pursuing a degree in Agricultural Communications & Journalism and I am proud to be a part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.     Texas A&M offers a unique atmosphere, which really makes me love this school. From our plethora of traditions to our world-reknown unity and brotherhood, there is no doubt in my mind that any other school could harbor a sense of community as well as TAMU does.     There is no doubt that you will be getting a top-of-the-line education at Texas A&M, but it does come with a big price tag. Try to obtain financial aid from a variety of places, because there is not a whole lot to offer from the university itself unless you are a minority or have an extremely low income.

    Find your niche. Texas A&M is a HUGE campus. You must try different organizations, groups, etc. in order to find the one that truly meets your needs. Once you find that niche, you will have the most amazing time of your life!

    It's a very welcoming campus and has become home to me within just one semester. Being part of the Aggie Network opens so many doors - academically, socially, and career related. The academics here and the connections this school has with other schools, corporations, researchers, and scholars is absolutely amazing.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you're a Texas resident, there's more than one way to get automatic admission, so don't worry if you're not in the top 10% of your class. Try to get as many AP credits as you can because TAMU gives a good amount of hours (even for 3s in some subjects). And get yourself a lot of maroon if you plan on coming here. Maroon and white are flattering on just about anybody.
    Academic Rigor

    Taking AP classes really prepares you for the academics here. The natural and physical science courses are pretty tough, though, and require a lot of time and energy. Same with most of the math classes. As a liberal arts major though, I face a little less competition and have lots of lecture classes and a few writing intensive ones.
    Dorm Life

    I've been living in an apartment since I got here so I don't have that much of an idea of dorm life. Some of my friends live in the dorms so I'll just tell you what I've learned from their experience and mine when I'm in their dorms.
    Things break pretty often
    It's usually super cold
    Some dorms have more camaraderie than others
    The Commons dorms are fun to live in. So are the ones close to Northgate ;)
    Use your space very efficiently. Like most dorms, the ones here aren't big at all
    Honors dorms are still not that great
    Good for your freshman year so you can get more familiar with the campus and make friends, but after that an apt would be a good (and probably cheaper) idea
    Food and Dining

    Most of the dining hall food is good when it's still hot. Sbisa's cookie and ice cream sandwiches are a great end to any meal there (or beginning, depending on how you roll). We have Chick Fil A's all over campus but if you're more health conscious, then the best thing to get on campus is probably sushi or the fruit plates. My advice would be to get more dining dollars rather than more meals if you're getting a meal plan because at the end of the semester a lot of people end up having to give away their meals. If you're not getting a meal plan, enjoy mooching off of those people at the end of the semester.
    What to do for fun

    College Station has your basic restaurants, movie theaters, bowling/laser tag place, ice skating and all that. There's also Northgate where a lot of the bars and a few clubs are. Downtown Bryan is a pretty cool place to spend your time, especially if you lean towards indie. We're also a little over an hour away from Austin and a couple of hours away from Houston so going out of town for the weekend is no problem (esp for things like concerts or outdoorsy adventures). We also have been having a big and continuous zombies vs humans battle on campus.
    Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

    So many traditions. Seriously. Take a campus tour.

    Engineering majors. Students who want a job soon after they graduate. Those who like tradition. Pre-med/vet/pharm. Greek-life oriented. Focused. Unfocused. Looking for undergrad research opportunities. Like hands-on as well as classroom instruction. Want somewhere that feels home-y

    Professors I have had, regardless of what department, are ALWAYS willing to help. Every class has Teaching Assistants who are available when the professor isn't, so it doesn't matter whether or not you are free when your professor is because someone will always be there for assistance.

    The campus at Texas A&M University is beyond beautiful (as long as you can overlook the sections under construcion). Traditions such as Howdy, 12th Man, Muster and Silver Taps make Aggieland more than just a place to get a college degree. It is here that I feel I am at home and that I am part of a family outside of my biological family. Knowing that you will always be an Aggie even after graduation is a great feeling. Seeing the way Texas A&M honors their students who have passed away through ceramonies such as Muster and Silver Taps is truly heart warming and I am blessed knowing that I too will be remembered in Aggieland one day.

    Don't be too shy to ask for help, you WILL need it. Sit close to the front of the class in order to keep from being distracted as well as to make your face known to the professor, this may go a long way. GO TO CLASS: you are paying to be there, if you aren't going to class then you are loosing money. Get a sports pass!!! Go to fish camp if you are an incoming freshman, it will certainly teach you about the many traditions as well as give you a group of friends before you ever walk on campus which will make it feel less intimidating on your first day. Find your classes before the first day of classes: you don't want to be lost and late on the first day. Say Howdy on campus!! People like to hear it!

    Campus is amazing! I made the best friends in the dorm that I lived in and everybody I meet is so nice and helpful. You can ask anybody on campus for help and they will help you, as long as they are not late to class. Howdy is the best way to greet people, and southern hospitality is not dead on campus :)

    I'm an English major here at A&M and despite this being known as a predominantly agricultural and engineering school, I can promise you that the English program is just as amazing, even though it is rather small. My professors have challenged and encouraged me in my studies and they have always been open to discuss assignments, whether via email or in office hours. I also know people with majors in Philosophy, Communications, Civil Engineering, and Economics who also feel as though they are getting adequately challenged in their classes.

    I am in love with this school. For being kind of in the middle of no-where, there is actually a lot to do. There are lots of restaurants and clubs and dance halls (I differentiate the clubs and dance halls because the halls are mostly country dance, which, as much as I enjoy, I know is not for everyone). Several restaurants also offer Tuesday night specials which are pretty great, no lie. The Cinemark here also offers $4 movie tickets with college ID. Furthermore, there's always something going on around campus, all you have to do is look at the campus calender. One of my favorite things to do is go to a comedy show that the school improv group, Freudian Slip, puts on.

    I am lucky enough that I received a scholarship to help pay, but even if I hadn't, I would still go here. The education I'm getting is more than worth the cost of tuition.
    Tips for prospective students

    Apply early and for as many scholarships as you can. It's a drag, I know, but it's worth it. Also, get involved! There are hundreds of student organizations, it's almost impossible not to find one that you're comfortable with. If you don't find one, make one! You're probably not the only student who will have wanted whatever kind of club you have in mind. On the academic side, don't be afraid to talk to your professors. Email them, talk after class, make office appointments, something. They will work with you to help you reach your academic goals, all you have to do is make the effort. It's definitely worth it, especially in the larger classes. The school has so many traditions, participate in them. One of the most famous traditions, saying,Howdy, is slowly fading, bring it back! It's one of the things that makes us Aggies stand out and be able to identify each other.

    A&M is great for every kind of student! We truly have a very diverse student body. It's always interesting walking around campus and noticing the different kinds of people there are.

    This college is great for learning so much more than just about your major of studies. You are apart of the Aggie family and there are hundreds of traditions that unify all 50,000+ students and even more alumni. My major of studies has taught me more than I ever knew there was about construction science.

    The atmosphere at College Station is the best in the nation and we are know for being the friendliest college in the nation. We say HOWDY to everyone and are home of the 12th man. You will never be board at a football game or any other sporting even and there is more than a 1000 campus organizations to get involved with. This was the only college I applied to after one visit.

    It can be expensive here but you can usually end up with a pretty big refund but it is not expensive in the long run and is well worth the investment.

I was a bit homesick the first couple of days but I all that changes when you meet people. Just don't worry and don't stress yourself out, because it will all turn out fine.

    I just completed freshman year as a Biomedical Engineering major and I can safely say that the introductory engineering courses are challenging, though at the say time great preparation for your next years in the major. The opportunities for extra help are endless and varied. You can easily talk to your professors, despite the large class sizes in intro classes (most students don't take advantage of looking for helping).

    The Texas A&M campus is very active and friendly and you cannot walk to class without being invited to join a group, participate in an event, or come to a pizza party. I was part of the Corps of Cadets while there and the bonds I formed with my class are immeasurable to any friendships I had before. Its the old Aggie traditions, like silver taps and bonfire, that not only the Corps, but the entire student body, participates in, that makes such a large campus feel small and like a home.

    Great deal for Texans with in-state tuition, and it is usually granted to out-of-state students with a university scholarship or who join the Corps of Cadets. Texas A&M as a very large and active alumni network which not only means more scholarships, but also helps out tremendously when you start looking for a job.
    Tips for prospective students

    Texas A&M has a very competitive engineering program and therefore have a GPA bar that must be met by sophomores who have finished their intro classes and want to continue with upper level classes for their major. Perform well in those intro classes (calculus, physics, chemistry, engineering, English) and don't be afraid to take advantage of your professor's office hours, drop in tutoring with TA's, test reviews, and off campus tutoring if needed- its all there for you.
    Being active with something on campus will make your college life much more enjoyable and help in so many ways. Texas A&M is a huge university and they have every organization under the sun, so look around when there is an open house.
    Great for these types of students

    If you like the friendliness of a small colleges, but don't won't to lose out on the benefits that a large university (nationally recognized engineering and agricultural programs and multiple libraries and graduate facilities, plethora of clubs, activities, and intramural sports, a good football/ basketball program with a large fan base). If you are interested in a military career (has all three ROTC programs and one of the few senior military colleges in the country). If you love a school with a history and traditions (too many to list). If you want to graduate with the security of millions of Aggie alumni in your network, willing to help out a fellow Aggie and offer you a job.

    It really is amazing how much I've changed since first starting here last year. Not only does Texas A&M provide you with the resources necessary to survive while taking classes, but it entirely changes your perspective on things like selfless service, which is basically what TAMU is notorious for promoting.

    The people here are extremely friendly, you can walk in on the first day of class and strike up a conversation with one person and eventually have the entire group around you join in. I love the atmosphere and it was certainly something I had to get used to but it really didn't take too long, after all making new friends isn't exactly a burden.

    Scholarships REALLY come in handy here, although the price tag for such a great education isn't as high as in other places, you have to hope for some form of assistance. I definitely looked into every kind of scholarship I could find to help my folks out, all in all it's totally worth it.

    Get everything done because the deadline for Texas A&M comes sooner than you think and believe me when I say that, I NEARLY learned that the hard way. Also, the same rule applies for parking permits and on-campus living, I know people that have to stay in converted study rooms because they didn't apply soon enough.

    Open-minded, semi to extremely social people will definitely enjoy Texas A&M, I know I did and it's turned me into a better person all around. Basically, if you're one way before you get here, you'll not only learn new perspectives on ideas but you will be able to come up with your own and evolve them over your 4 amazing years here.     I absolutely love it here. The classes are interesting, and the profs are great. I am just getting over mono, and i had to miss classes for a week. All of my profs were super understanding, and have either allowed me to make up missed exams, or have allowed me more time before i have to take the exam because of my absences. Each class that i have taken has actually taught me something and I find myself using what i've learned in my daily life.

    My father went to A&M and said it an experience he would never replace. After researching, reviewing, and visiting the campus for myself several times, I also believe that the campus will be the best for me. The architecture program has excellent people (after participating in a CAMPARCH program) and I feel that the education will help me in my future.

    I have visited the campus over seven times and every time I go, I feel safe (the Corp is there and ever courteous), have fun, and love the feeling of union throughout the student body.

    I'm looking for scholarships and lucky for me, Texas A&M seems to have many different ones for all the different majors it offers. Money's out there. You just have to find it.

    Apply early. The earlier you apply, the better your chances of being accepted. Applications start on August 1 and continue into December. Don't worry about bad ACT or SAT scores. Just apply. You may never know.

    I am a sophomore biology student here at Texas A&M and I have to say, I have never been as fascinated with the subject of biology than when I took classes here. All of my biology and chemistry courses, specifically my Molecular Biology course, left me with a desire to acquire more knowledge of it, even outside of the course materials.

    One of the most prominent aspects of Texas A&M is it's many traditions. No matter how recently they were started, all traditions hold a special place on campus. This may be the reason that the campus has a closer-knit feel despite its large student body. Everyone is generally polite and friendly to one another and that really conveys a sense of belonging here on campus. Admittedly though, there is not too terribly much to do in College Station, but the you will undoubtedly make displaces that issue.

    Like many public universities, Texas A&M is quite affordable, and is nationally renowned for its programs in petroleum engineering, business and biomedical sciences.

    There is no shortage of activities. There are organizations for any interest. Also, the people are wonderful. Just about anyone you walk up to will start up a conversation with you. The campus is like one giant family.

    Am learning a lot

    A&M has great academics and wonderful professors. The work load is never too overwhelming so you have time to actually learn the material you are given. I have had so many great professors who love what they do and actually make you want to learn while giving you new perspectives.

    While I enjoy the academics, being an out-of-state student makes the adjustment a little hard. There is definitely a culture shock and if you don't have a lot of school spirit you won't enjoy being at A&M because the university and the students cherish their traditions.

    Out-of-state tuition is a little high compared to those who live in Texas. It would not be awful if you have scholarships because if you receive a $1,000 scholarship from Texas A&M they will grant you in-state tuition. That being said, the University only gives roughly 600 scholarships (said in the 2011/2012 e-mail), so your chances are not extremely high.
    Tips for prospective students

    If you are looking at Texas A&M make sure you visit and talk to a few students to get their perspective on the academics and social scene. Make sure you will fit in with the beliefs of the campus because from what I have seen, you either hate or love A&M. Also, really look into the majors they offer. Some departments are a lot stronger than others and you want to pick a school based on academics.

    A&M is great for students with a lot of school spirit and strong academics. A&M is proud of their traditions and there are many events based on these traditions. Classes are challenging so you also have to be there to learn. A&M has a good balance between learning and fun so if that's what you are looking for, make sure to check out Texas A&M.

    Did learn a lot

    I will admit I learn quite a lot. But a few of my professors were just awful. Quite a few of them are researchers, rather than teachers, so they really aren't that great at teaching. A lot of them, or atleast the ones I took, used powerpoints pretty much 24/7... Pretty much no interaction, other than that. I personally can't learn like that. Not to mention, they go through their slides so fast, you have barely any time to even write or type in down, and since your rushing to get all the information down, you don't really pay much attention to what the teacher is saying. But like I said, they aren't ALL like that.
    Did enjoy being here

    I had a awful experience here. So much so, that I have actually transferred to another university. If your gonna go to A&M, make sure you KNOW someone, or a friend(s) is applying with you. It was REALLY hard to make friends there. I mean, yeah, there is the occasional howdy but thats about it. Other than that, the only time anyone ever talked to me was when they were trying to get me to do something, like sign a petition, or about something religious, or things like that. In fact, throughout the whole semester of being there, I only made one friend.
    The whole community not to mention is extremely conservative and I didn't enjoy being pestered all the time by missionaries or someone asking me to come to a bible study, or little panphlets underneath my door asking if I have accepted God, or this and that. Its pretty extreme here.
    Also, the dorms aren't that great. To me, it felt like a prison. Tile floors and white brick walls. Very unfriendly and cold. Also the students there dont respect the other students at like 2am, when your trying to sleep and they come running through the halls laughing loudly and talking. VERY inconsiderate.

    Yeah, I'll admit that much. The housing aint to bad in price... for what your getting. As well as dining.... The plans are good as well. Lets just say, you'll never go hungry.

    Well, considering I had a completely terrible experience here, I would say don't go. BUT, if you do, I just hope you have a better experience than I did.

    Am learning a lot

    Definitely a great place for those in sciences, engineering, and agriculture tech, but for those wanting theater, arts, or for a liberal education; Texas A&M is not to friendly.

    Yea and no. It's boring. Partying here is lame for those from cities like Austin. There is really nothing to do after 9pm. There are lots of clubs but some are to pushy and over hyped. People are fairly close minded especially to people not of the Christian faith, and to non straight sexually oriented people.

    Definitely worth the money, especially if your expecting lot of financial aide.

    Lots of community service, perfect your essays, and have a personality. Your essays should reflect your character.

    This campus is predominantly white, so it was hard for me to find people I had things in common with. There is a lot of racism at this school no matter what everyone else says. I would know, I experienced it first hand a few times. The traditions are dying slowly, and people aren't very friendly.

    Texas A&M has tons of opportunities for students like me. I am very interested in biological research and the research options there are enormous. I feel that I will learn quite a bit while attending TAMU.

    It felt like a very close knit, upbeat community for the short time I was there. The tour guides were very enthusiastic and made me feel like I made the right choice in considering TAMU and that I would enjoy my time there.
    Bang for the buck

    They are much less expensive than private school and actually have more opportunities available for a student interested in research than any private school I've considered. At least for a student with my interests they seem to give a wonderful education for a reasonable price.
    Tips for prospective students

    Start working on the application process early, that includes the general admission and dorm applications both. It will save you tons of trouble later and will make the process go more smoothly. I've already applied and I got my acceptance letter very soon after I submitted my application.

    TAMU's biology department is wonderful. I know that it would be a good college for those interested in science. Also it would be good for all the football fans out there.

    Apart from any other school in the US, Texas A&M does not have cheerleaders or a dance team. Texas A&M has Yell Leaders. Yell Leaders are students who are elected by their peers to lead Aggies in chants at the football games.

    The Liberal Arts program as in incredible program that transcends all stereotyped and narrow-minded conceptions of Texas A&M University.     Dorm life seems almost essential to this university and it's strong promotion of a communally oriented student body. This is where all the bonds are made, where you realize how strong the bond is between the students in the school.

    With the enormous dining halls on campus, such as Sbisa and Duncan, it is hard to see anyone really needing to leave campus at all. However, moving on towards the rest of College Station, and even it's ajoined city of Bryan, Texas, you see that all types of foods are readily available. With a highly diversified student constituency, the community had to accommodate to the market presented to them. It is a paradise of restaurants for any college student.
    What to do for fun

    In spite of the notoriously small town that College Station is known to be, you come to understand that a town where 71% of the population is represented by fellow students, it is difficult to think you can run out of fun things to do. You come to appreciate the simplicity in the exposure to a youthful community that has not been polluted with corporate agendas.

    Texas A&M is all about traditions. Some traditions include Sully. He's a statue on campus of a man that donated what we Aggies call, the Academic Plaza. He didn't ask for anything in return for the donation but to just cast a penny for our thoughts. The students built a statue of him and every week at the end of the semester before finals and before any test there will be pennies stacked up at Sully's feet for good luck. We also have a mascot that's a dog named Revielle. She is assigned to a cadet in the Core and he will take her to all his classes and live with him for the semester. If she barks in class, it is said that if the professor can't keep an attention of a dog, then he sure can't for his students, so the class will be let out early.
    Great for these types of students

    Anyone who like to learn, be sociable, to just learn something new. Someone who wants to be a leader in this world and stand out in the crowd.

    There is any kind of club imaginable at A&M and if there isn't one then it is very easy to make it happen. Just try anything you've always wanted to try, this is your chance!

    I have so many sorority friends who love Greek life, but as I am not in a sorority myself I can't speak on their behalf. From what I hear, it is amazing!

    You are given different number on the back of your school ID for your safety. One is for a Cadet to come to whereever you are on campus and they will walk you to wherever you need to go no matter what time a day it is. There are blue phones all over campus that are strictly used for emergencies that you can use as well.

    Be sure to send everything in early in order to meet the scholarship deadline. Advisors are happy to help over the phone or in person, so use them! Buy a pair of boots.

    Do not come in and think just because it is a public university that it will be easy, that would be a huge mistake. Come in with as many hours as possible so that you can get your Aggie ring as soon as you can! Whoop!

    Depending on your major, it will be the same situation with any accredited university, there will definitely be those extremely challenging classes as well as the easy blow-off classes.

    Take it from someone who is living on campus again for a second year, it is very clean and hospitable!

    If you live on campus then the food gets old pretty fast but there are tons of options on campus and the dining options keep expanding. If you're extremely health conscious there are options but not too many, thankfully College Station is a college town so they host plenty of dining options off campus.

    Being that it is a small college town there isn't a whole lot to do around the town other than the classic mall, movies, and food but on campus hosts many opportunities to see speakers, movies, and other festivals. There are also dance halls and bars for when you turn 21 around town that are the main drag for Thursdays and the weekend.

    Since it is a state school it has a very affordable price but it doesn't get five stars because the prices are going up. The classes and the networking are definitely worth the money though.

    Texas A&M is HUGE on tradition!
    1. Silver Taps- Since it used to be a full military campus there are many military style traditions. This focuses on honoring the current Aggies who have passed away in the recent month, all of the student body assembles and gives them a moment of silence.
    2. Muster- This is silver taps on a grander scale where you honor all of the past Aggies that have passed away in the past year within a 100 mile radius.
    3. Howdy- The traditional greeting on campus is Howdy.
    4. MSC Grass- You can't walk o the MSC grass (a building on campus) because it honors all of the fallen Aggies that died in war.
    There are many many more but these are my favorites.
    Great for these types of students

    Those who like to create amazing relationships and be in a fostering environment... Pretty much who wouldn't like A&M?!

    There are over 800 student organizations and all of them are of amazing quality and it is super easy to stretch yourself really thin because everything sounds like so much fun so you join everything! But even if you're only in one organization it will be so worth it and definitely will take up time.

    I was not personally part of Greek Life but they are slowly growing and yes they do throw parties.

    I go running at night (as a girl) and I feel completely safe in this little cozy town. You get the occasional crime but that's life.

    Come and tour the campus. Meet and greet fellow students and ask a lot of questions. If you attend A & M, there are so many opportunties for you when you graduate.

    Some of the classes can be difficult, but there are study groups, etc. that will help. If you want to exceed, then you can do it. The classes are good and the professors make it interesting.

    I currently live in the dorm. I chose potluck for my roomate, and I am very happy with my choice. We will probably be life long friends. Love it.

    There are plenty of places on campus to eat. I suggest not getting a large meal plan, as you get tired of eating at the same places and want to go off campus to eat some with your friends.

    Get involved. There are so many things to do in College Station. Whether you like to volunteer with disabled adults/children, or have religious activities. There is always something to do, besides studying, which you must do in order to make the grades.

    There are a lot of sporting events that are always a lot of fun. Going dancing at Harry's is very popular and a lot of fun. The Rec has a rock climbing wall, and many classes. There are always events on the weekends.

    While the college is expensive, its totally worth it. Aggies look out for other Aggies. A&M is unlike any other school in the nation.

    Double Dave's $.75 pizza rolls night on Tuesday. Get into Harry's free on Thursday nights with a valid college i.d. until 10p.m. The movies at Cinemark are only $4 with a valid college i.d. It's free to climb the rock wall at the rec every 1st Friday of the month.

    A&M has so many traditions. Some of my favorites are midnight yell (Where aggies get together at midnight the night before a football game to practices yells), kissing after our team scores at football games, AGGIE RING, The Corps of Cadets and Silver taps.

    A&M is perfect for just about anyone. There are so many clubs and organizations that you will find a group of people you connect with. However, the classes are challenging and you should be a hard worker and diligent student.

    Cramped, but good. Apart from the occasional fire drill or loss of cable, I have heard no dorm horror stories. (Although my friend's roommate ate all the marshmallows in her cereal one time...)

    Not nearly as good as the food in say, Austin or other, larger cities, but you can still get some classic Whataburger or any major restaurant chain you'd see in a major city in Texas.

    Northgate - music, bars, food. Paintball, school event - lots of religious groups to socialize with. Also, only about 3 hours from Austin, Houston, or Dallas, so great for day trips to concerts or other events with friends.

    Texas A&M University is a strong institution with fantasically intelligent professors who are serious about helping you expand your mind. The coursework is intense, but there are a million free programs within the university dedicated to getting every student to where they want to be. The campus is also very lively with so many fun things to help you unwind and get involved, and last but not least, it's known for its friendliness.

    The two best tips by far are: study hard and get involved. If you keep up with your classes, get tutoring and do all the homework, you will pass all your classes. If not, there will be a lot of late night cramming and frustration because this is a serious university. However, you need to balance yourself out by branching out and meeting new people. By joining organizations, you get to free yourself from your lonely study bubble (which you will create if you're an engineering or science major) and do fun things with interesting people, while also boosting your community service hours for grad/prof school if that's what you're going after. Trust me, doing things like this and having friends will help a lot with the frustration and make the transition much easier. Last but not least, ATTEND A FIGHTIN TEXAS AGGIE FOOTBALL GAME!     Some classes/majors are much more difficult than others depending on your personal strengths. It's no ivy league so don't kiss your social life goodbye, but do expect to give it your best if you want to stay.

    The dorms are very old, small and not the most beautiful. However, students tend to build close bonds with others in their dorm halls, which is really nice because we're all going through the same things. Also, the honors dorms are much bigger and quieter (something to consider if that's what you like). If you choose Texas A&M, pack lightly, bring decorative things to brighten up your room, and be social.
    Food and Dining

    Sbisa is the best dining hall on campus. There will also be a few new dining services this coming year (2012) when the Memorial Student Center opens up, which by the way is supposed to be beautiful and a very huge deal. Generally, on campus dining is fairly good, and off campus food around College Station is fantastic.
    What to do for fun

    Despite the small town feel, College Station has a lot to offer for fun. During the week, there are always special things happening on campus. For example, Texas A&M is a division one school, and the student population is very big on sporting events. Our games are a lot of fun with plenty of traditional side bits unique to Texas A&M. It's hard to explain them all but I encourage you to come to a game if you're considering this university! On weekends there is also a lot to do. If you like country dancing, you're in luck. There are quite a few dance halls, especially in the Northgate District. For older students, there are also plenty of dance clubs and bars at Northgate as well. If relaxed fun is more your style, we have the Grand Station which has bowling, laser tag, arcade games, food, etc.
    Bang for the buck

    For all the academic, athletic, and extracurricular riches Texas A&M has to offer, it is a very inexpensive large school. It is nowhere near as expensive as a private school.

    1. At Academic Plaza, there is a statue of Sul Ross (or Sully), a previous president of Texas A&M who used to personally tutor students for free. When they tried to pay him he'd say, just a penny for my thoughts. So now right before big tests, aggies put pennies at the feet of the statue for good luck (and even much larger sums depending on your level of desperate).

    2. Silver Taps is a tradition held on the first Tuesday of every month where thousands gather at night to honor aggies who deceased in that past month. The family is also invited to attend the ceremony, and students are encouraged to write letters to them. All lights are turned off on campus, and bugle players play Silver Taps, once to the North, once to the South and once to the West, but not to the East because the sun will never shine on those aggies again.

    3. We have an awesome Quidditch team so you never know when you're going to see a guy in a golden unitard (the snitch) running around campus.

    4. When someone mentions you're graduating year, you do your wildcat (which is just a yell with respective hand signs). Freshmen yell AAAAAAAAAY! Sophomores yell AY! AY! AY! AY! AY! Juniors yell AY! AY! AY! WHOOP! Seniors yell AY! WHOOP! And if you whoop before you're a junior and an upperclassmen catches you, they can make you push (do pushups), which sounds bad but it's always really funny.

    5. There are many, many more.
    Great for these types of students

    Students who intend to work hard to further themselves in life but also have a great college experience and make lots of friends are suited perfectly. Also students interested in serving their countries or ROTC are a perfect fit because Texas A&M used to be a military school and currently has a huge Corp of Cadets. If you crave big city living or a school that is dominated by Greek life, this is probably not your best match.
    Clubs and Activities

    There is an activity for almost anything you can think of. No matter what profession you are persuing, what ethnicity you are, what sports you enjoy, what weird habits you have, you will most likely find it here at A&M. There are also countless of community service clubs with creative and fun ideas to help the community and earn you service hours. As far as activities, athletics is a huge deal. We have intramurals, great varsity teams, club sports, etc. We have choirs, a famous band, and last but definitely not least, our famous Corp of Cadets. If ROTC is your thing, look no further.
    Greek Life

    Greek life at Texas A&M is not as dominant at Texas A&M as it is in many other Texas schools. However, it has been said that the Greek life feel is everywhere, and that is the reason Greeks don't dominant. This is said because Aggies graduate with extensive connections and opportunities. Only in that aspect is Texas A&M a big Greek school.
    Campus Safety

    There have been a couple of known incidents this year, however, generally the campus is quiet (as in free of disturbance). There are even multiple options provided by the university to help ensure student safety such as Corp escorts (when you're need to walk back to your dorm or car late at night) and Car Pool (which is free and will take you home and any hour of the night if you need it).

    tamu has strong academics, but it is very large and very conservative. it has a very strong focus on engineering and agriculture, so if you're interested in liberal arts, this might not be the place for you. since the school is so large, the advising offices aren't the most helpful and there's a ton of paperwork and hoops to jump through to get anything done.

    be prepared for the fact that it still holds strong to it's military background. aggies have extreme school spirit. there are a lot of pointless and seemingly insane traditions.

    northgate is kind of a hot spot on campus. it is a street of bars/clubs that everyone starts going to as soon as wednesday rolls around. not only that but, you have to hit up hurricane harry's if you are an aggie! you definitely will learn how to dance coming to college station. besides the bars, clubs, and parties you will definitely be attending alot of sporting events which are a blast! plus, there are tons of cool classes or organizations you can try out for a pretty good price in town.

    aggieland is a very unique town to be in and as a college student they make it very affordable. not only is the tuition relatively low but there are tons of college nights in town! there are plenty of discounts you can get at local movie theaters and dance halls for being a student.

    this campus is all about unusual and traditions. for instance the century tree, it is said that once a couple walks under there they are together forever. another is our mascot, reveille. if he comes into a classroom and barks, the professor has to dismiss that class. there are also the silver taps every month on the first tuesday. an amazing experience. the yells, the 12th man, bonfire, howdy, gig'em, and the statue of sullivan ross, all are unique symbols of texas a&m.

    Do think twice about enrolling in a four year university. I am from a small 3-A high school and I have adjusted just fine.

    Academic Rigor

    Classes are challenging; but if you spend some time studying you will do just fine. My first semester i ended up with four A's and one C. The C was in chemistry. Chemistry is a tough class.
    Dorm Life

    I did not get into a dorm. However, sone of my friends say that it is great!
    You can always find someone to study with; and you can usually find someone to help you if you are struggling in a particular class.
    Food and Dining

    Honestly the food is not to bad. It isn't what I am used to at home. My dad is a chef, so I love his cooking.
    What to do for fun

    I love sports so I play basketball or hang out with friends.

    If you have the chance to attend Texas A&M you will love it! I have never really felt like I fit in before; I don't have those kind of feelings anymore. I always have things to do and I am always with friends.

    When I got here it was more difficult than I was used to. I graduated in the top 5% of my class in high school, and I never had to study. You don't receive that luxury here.

    Each dorm hall has competitions with the other dorm halls. I personally have always lived off campus, but have heard great things.

    You can't beat Sbisa dining hall food. Yes, that is how it is spelled.

    From going out dancing, to bar hopping on North Gate, there is plenty to do.

    There is a statue on campus Lawrence Sullivan Ross, and when he was the president of A&M he fought to help maintain / increase A&M's budget. Students now put pennies at his feet for good luck prior to exams.

    With a 24/7 ROTC, if you are scared to walk from a building to your car, you can call the ROTC and they will send a Corp of Cadets member to escort you to your vehicle.

    Texas A&M is a wonderful school! The campus has a beautiful military feel, steeped in tradition. The professors are knowledgeable and care about each student individually.

    Apply for dorm housing as early as possible because space does run out quickly. Try not to buy textbooks on campus because you can usually find them somewhere else cheaper.
    Academic Rigor

    The difficulty level of each class varies depending on personal skill and major. It is a good idea not to take a heavy load of classes your first semester as you adjust to college life. After your first semester, you should be able to take a class or two more and do quite well.
    Dorm Life

    There are a variety of different dorm styles. Make sure you know what you want before applying to dorms. Some of the dorms on the Northside of campus are loud because of their location close to Northgate, where most of college station's bars are located. The southside dorms, especially the commons dorms, are where many freshmen prefer to live and I haven't heard anything bad about them.
    Food and Dining

    There is a good variety of dining choices on campus, but the food can get old fairly fast. Don't buy too big of a dining plan. Chances are you will spend some time eating off campus and in your dorm room. You can always buy more dining dollars, but if you don't use them all, you can lose them at the end of the semester, which is a little disappointing.

    Movies are very cheap in College Station. There are also several country dance halls where many people like to go. There is a good variety of parks throughout the city as well, and Lake Bryan is close, which is a good place for hiking, running, and water activities.

    Texas A&M is an enormous campus full of over one hundred years of history. There are many world renound professors that lecture and research. With so many majors to choose from, there is no way not find something you are passionate about.

    If you are considering Texas A&M, be sure to schedule a tour of the campus. Aggies are passionate about carrying on traditions so read up on all the traditions and see if you have what it takes to be an aggie.
    Academic Rigor

    I give academic rigor four stars because Texas A&M is a top engineering school in the country. The reason is this is true is because of the discipline and drive you need to have to make it through a difficult major. Texas A&M also has a great liberal arts department and agricultural department that students fall in love with.
    Dorm Life

    Texas A&M has older dorms and they are currently renovating and building new dorms and university apartments around campus.
    Food and Dining

    On campus there is a main dining hall that also has another food court underneath it. There are many other food courts dispersed around the campus so no matter where you are, you are not far from some great food of all cuisines. Across from campus is Northgate, where there many great places to eat.
    What to do for fun

    Another great thing about Northgate is it is full of bars, dance halls, and hang-out spots. Some are even 18-and-up so you do not have to wait until you are about to graduate before you can experience Northgate.

    Since Texas A&M is such an enormous campus, the tuition is higher than other public universities, but cheaper than private universities. The university continues to renovate and upgrade everything from computers to entire buildings all to better accomodate the students.

    As mentioned before Texas A&M has many traditions that the students are passionate about. Aggies greet everyone with a howdy and we BTHO (beat the hell out of) every team we play during football season just to name a couple.

    If you are into math and science, this is the university for you. That;s not to say if you like to dance to go elsewhere. Texas A&M has a great program for dance as well. Texas A&M is known for its engineering majors around the world with petroleum engineering being one the leading majors.

    There are hundreds of clubs and organizations on campus to choose from. And if you do not find one you love, you can even start your own club. There are clubs for your major, your hobbies, even movements or foundations you are passionate about. And you can't forget about the Corp of Cadets, the reason the university exists.

    There are many fraternities and sororities to rush that contribute to the university all the time.

    Texas A&M has its own police department and hospital. the campus police phone number is on you student ID. The Corp of Cadets offers and escort service if you are on campus at night. You call call and have a cadet walk with you from your car to your dorm or anywhere you need to go free of charge. There are also free emergency phones throughout campus for ou to use.

    Im not a big club goer but we have a party strip called northgate or you join one of the hundreds groups or organizations, that will definitely keep you busy and provide entertainment. We also have a game center very close to the school or our movies are $4 for student entry!

    Don't take 8'o clock class. Well based on my own experience, I'm not a morning person and I learned it the hard way. Most students are not capable of waking up this early. You might think that you were used to it because of high school, but reality check some people just can't do it.

    A&M is one of the top schools in Texas, number 48 in the world, and one of the top schools in the Nation. Some of the best professors teach at Texas A&M University. The professors want you to learn and they have a lot to teach you, but it's your duty to make yourself known to the teacher and let them know that you care about your grade. Also, you learn more than just class work. You end up learn a lot about life, and how to make decisions.

    A&M can make you feel really small I know it made me feel that way but that's why you should get involved. If you are of any race the multiculural services office has many programs and groups that will make you feel special, from Atheist to Buddhist, quidditch (for you Harry Potter lovers), ultimate frisbee, competition squad (Cheer), whatever you like A&M has. For me I chose the competition squad but no matter what there's always something for you from tutoring to plays and parties.

    A&M costs a lot of money but, is well worth it if you make it worth while. If you make good grades, study, and get involved then you will totally get the result you want. All of the teachers have a quality education and they just want to give you a quality education no matter what your major or background may be.

    If you really want to be a Fightin' Texas Aggie, you must learn how to study. Classes here can be very easy if you study. Without good study habits and a smart head on your shoulders you might not make it. Also, if you like to party and have fun, that's great but realize a final and a party aren't even compatible. I also recommend If you don't want a big school, A&M may not be for you. You have to make yourself known to your the professors and there are classes of 300+ people.

    Texas A&M is an amazing learning environment, and they give back to their comunity. As a young boy they helpped rebuild fences and homes at Still Creek Boys & Girls Ranch. definatl valuses I would want anyone to learn.

    Although the campus is located in a bigger city the out lying city of Bryan is rather run down it might be a throw off but the campus itself is beautiful.
