Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot College does change an individual, and I certainly am no exception. I went to TCNJ expecting to gain better writing skills and become immersed in learning about the journalistic world. In actuality, the real learning came from outside the classroom (may sound a tad cliche' but alas it is true). I came out of freshman year having learned valuable social skills, talents and how to live on my own. Most importantly, I learned to believe in myself. Oh, and I did learn about journalism.
Am enjoying being here I have not been happy 24/7 at TCNJ. While my first visit to the College was love at first sight, my first few months as a student were not. After a while, I realized that it was because I had not really made the effort to go out and meet people or find something that I really enjoyed. Soon after I started getting involved, began to fall back in love.
Bang for the buck The professors are all very devoted teachers and no student will ever be in a classroom where their name goes unknown. The Education and Nursing programs are particularly excellent, and students in all majors find themselves frequently challenged. TCNJ has been known for giving their students an Ivy league education for the public school price.
Tips for prospective students Get involved. Do what interests you. That is vital to a successful first year.
Great for these types of students To be perfectly honest, TCNJ really is for all kinds of people. There appears to be a place for just about everyone (the aforementioned tip on getting involved is a sure way to find your niche) and my school friends have an extremely varied social makeup. It does, however, help if you are looking for a beautiful campus on a medium sized location in suburbia.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This is a very, very good school, so the classes are rather intense, with a lot of outside work. I am a political science major, and sometimes have hundreds of pages of reading to do for each class, but after reading it and discussing it, I really do learn so much more about the topic.
Am enjoying being here The College of New Jersey has one of the most beautiful campuses Ive ever seen, especially in the fall and spring. There are two big lakes, with plenty of benches around, so I love to study out there. The size is perfect - I can easily walk to all of my classes. I have a ton of friends, because everyone is so nice and welcoming. There are groups for absolutely anything you could want to do, and you can always find something to do at night, whether you like to drink or not.
Bang for the buck TCNJ has a great reputation for being one of the best colleges for its relatively low price, especially if you are from in-state. They also offer many scholarships, so coming here can be very, very affordable.
Tips for prospective students Utilize the library. It is new and gorgeous, and a great place for getting work done. There are also computer labs in every building - I didn't realize this before, but now I always use the one in the Political Science building in between my classes. If you aren't sure what you want to do career-wise, visit the career counselor, he is very helpful. Finally, enjoy your freshman year. The friends you make on your floor often become your best friends.
Great for these types of students Students who like seeing people they know whenever they walk around, students who are interested in and willing to do the work to really learn, and students who want great education in an equally great environment

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Depending on what you take classes can be challenging, but you will learn a lot. The work assigned isn't busy work, but actually helps you to understand and learn the material for the class.
Am enjoying being here Even though I an not from NJ like most of my classmates and no one else from my high school goes here I had no trouble getting to know people and finding groups to get involved in.
Bang for the buck Being an out of state student my tuition is obviously higher, but the small classes and the professors make up for the difference. The professors get to know you by name and really care about how well you do in their classes, they don't want you to fail and are always willing to help.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Being at TCNJ, I have definitely learned a lot. The teachers here are great at their jobs and help so much. Since I've been here, my writing has improved, and I see subjects from new pespectives. Not only have i learned a lot from the classrooms, I have also learned a lot from my floormates. Cliche' but you learn something new everyday.
Am enjoying being here During Welcome Week, you be attracted to people who you will be with everyday at first sight. For me, that wasn't the case. I started out at college with the people who were I didn't really connect with. Then as the weeks went by, I finally made friends who I am comfortable with and am with them everyday. Having fun is best when you're with the right people.
Bang for the buck Not only is TCNJ a great school for education but it's a cheap school. When you live in NJ, it's even better. The professors are great and dedicated. The majors here are challenging.
Tips for prospective students Go out and get involved. Socialize with people who aren't on your floor. Get out of your building!! STUDY. work hard. Most of all, have fun. Freshman year is the best year of your college career.
Great for these types of students TCNJ is for everyone. On campus, you literally see everything type of person.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot The opportunity to be independent mixed with a quality college education is a winning combination that you are bound to take from.
Will enjoy being here Every time I visit I get more excited about going. The students and faculty are super friendly and helpful. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. No other college made me feel as comfortable.
Tips for prospective students The financial aid is not that great but as is the case with most colleges you have to make 2 cents a year to get anything.
Great for these types of students Preppy, fun-loving, relaxed, laid-back but not lazy students.

Categories Rating Comments Academic Rigor I feel like the professors here are either absolutely amazing or really close to being amazing, but the amazing ones over shadow them. However what is really great about all of them is that they really do care about you and make it their priority to understand your needs and to help you succeed. Every single one of them really just wants you to succeed and they help guide you in the right direction for you and those specific needs.
Am enjoying being here I love TCNJ. Having survived both an earthquake and a hurricane in these dome has really brought everything into perspective. The friends I have made up to this point even so early in my college career are amazing and deep people. There is an activity for anything I could possibly dream of and I am always finding new clubs I didn't even know existed to go and sit in on a meeting for to get to know what everything is about.
Bang for the buck There are so many great programs and options. You really need to just grab life by the horns and go for it. You will definitely get the most for your money attending this school.
Tips for prospective students If you love volunteering there is an amazing program here that I am a part of called the Bonner Scholars program. You get scholarship money for volunteering!!! Isn't' that incredible?! So check it out on the website and ask for an application when that time comes.
Great for these types of students This school is great for creative people who are willing to work hard, but also who love life and love being involved.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot TCNJ is a great school academically. If you think this school is a walk in the park, you have another thing coming. One of the things that attracted me about this school was the academics. You will get the best out of TCNJ. You will learn more than you can imagine. Before I came to TCNJ I thought I was a great writer, but I soon discovered that my writing was not so great. I learn the fundamentals within my first semester and I am really a great writer now. The class sized are small and the professors know what they are talking about and they really care about our success.
Am enjoying being here I am a senior so I am not really into the social life anymore but there is a but I love it at TCNJ. The campus is wonderful I enjoy bringing friends to spend the weekend so they can see for themselves how beautiful my campus is. I am very proud to be a student at TCNJ. There are great programs and events that the college hold and it makes you happy to be there.
Bang for the buck TCNJ is very cheap for the quality of education you will receive. There are loves of scholarships available from the school and you can also apply for outside scholarships. I am getting a great education and leaving will very little debt compared to other students at other schools.
Tips for prospective students Get the most out of the college. If you want to have a great time, go out and meet new people. You have to go out and find fun, fun will not come chasing you. Also stay on top of your school work. It is so easy to fall behind just stay focused and surround yourself with motivated individuals and you will succeed.
Great for these types of students Highly motivated, very dedicated and driven students that wants to be successful.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) has one of the most academically challenging curriculums in the state and country. The class size averages 22:1 and the professors are very knowledgeable. They will never teach you information from years ago because a majority of them have their own research which they conduct on campus and open up to their students so they can get hands-on experience from their sophomore year.
Am enjoying being here TCNJ has an extremely beautiful campus that is small and safe. There is lots of space for students to work and play outside especially during the early fall and late spring semester when the weather is optimal including many large lawns, a grove with tables and benches, and two lakes with multiple benches surrounding them. There are also over 150 student organizations that students can become involved in including 16 social fraternities and sororities, many other academic and volunteering fraternities, multicultural organizations, intramural sports, and intrauniversity non-varsity sports to name a few. The only thing that attending the school lacks is a lot to do outside of campus that doesn't involve going into a major city. However, Philadelphia is a 30 minute drive and New York City a 50 minute to an hour ride on public transportation.
Bang for the buck TCNJ is most definitely one of the best schools to attend to get the best bang for your buck. With the academic intensity and it's prime location between New York City and Philadelphia for intern opportunities, it is hard to find another school that offers that much for the price of The College of New Jersey.
Tips for prospective students The College of New Jersey definitely lives to its reputation in New Jersey and it's hopeful growing one to the nation of being a school of academic excellence and it is not to be taken lightly. Attending this school means that you are prepared for the vigor that comes with being a student. Don't fall under the assumption that all the students do is study however, we are one of the top Division III schools in the nation and there are an endless amount of activities to do on campus for those who love to keep busy.
Great for these types of students The high achievers who strive for furthering their education but do not want to just sit in a huge lecture hall unnoticed. They also want to make something more with themselves outside of academics which they can take advantage of with the activities and sports on campus.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes here can be pretty hard, depending on which ones you take, but it is worth it because you learn a lot from it. In fact, I wish I could take more classes than I'll ever have room to in my four years here.
Most of the professors here have the highest degree possible in their field, so they really know what they're teaching. Not all of them are the best at conveying their wealth of knowledge to you, but if you're willing to put in the extra time to understand the material, they're willing to put in the extra time to help you.
Also, this is a liberal arts school, so you'll be require to take a little of everything. That has its pros and cons. It's good because it makes you well-rounded and exposes you to new things that you might not have voluntarily chosen to study on your own. It's bad because sometimes it means you have to take a class in something you know you don't like, but high school usually does that anyway, so it's nothing new.
Also, this is a four-credit school, so instead of taking 5 3-credit classes each semester, you'll be taking 4 4-credit ones. What this means is you'll get to take less classes overall, compared to a three-credit school, but you'll cover more material in the classes you do take.Am enjoying being here The campus has a pretty balanced and diverse community, in terms of gender, ethnicity, and religions, which helps keep things interesting.
There are usually plenty of fun events taking place on campus.
The people here are really nice and friendly, so even if there isn't an interesting event taking place, you'll still find something fun to do with the plenty of friends you'll have here, even if it's off campus (there's a highway nearby with plenty of restaurants, stores, and a movie theater on it).
The campus is fairly small, so it's not uncommon to run into familiar faces on the way to class or at the dining hall.Bang for the buck The school is a public one, so it's sticker cost is certainly better than that of a private school. With financial aid and scholarships taken into consideration, it becomes and even better deal.
Also, considering the quality of the education and social environment you'll have by coming here, it is definitely a great deal. Sure, you could get just as good of an educational or social experience (or maybe a better one) elsewhere, but I can guarantee you that it'll cost a lot more.
This may not be the best school out there, but it's a very good one, especially when you take the price into consideration.Tips for prospective students --Aim for scores greater than or equal to 600 in each section of the SATs
--Aim for a class rank in the top 15% of your class
--Stay or Get involved in a variety of extracurricular activities (sports, music, theater, clubs, honor societies etc)
--Take AP tests where you can, and aim for scores greater than or equal to 4, if you do
--Volunteer work is always a plus (but is not necessary)
--If you're not sure what you want to specifically major in, at least decide on a vague/general field (ex: science, engineering, education, music, social sciences, nursing, art, etc) because you'll have to at least know that when applying (ex: you want to major in some kind of science, but don't know which specific kind, so you'll apply as an Open Option Science major)
--Double majoring is possible here
--Having up to three minors is possible here
--You can study abroad for as long as a full year here
--You will be exposed to internship opportunities here
--You will have research opportunities here
--There is an honors program here
--It is possible to change majors here, and you can still graduate on time depending on how/when you do it
--You do have the opportunity to take certain classes pass-fail
--You do have the opportunity to retake classes you did poorly in
--You can bring in AP credit, as well as transfer credit from other schools, here
--If looking to take classes at an NJ community college and transfer them here, refer to NJTransfer.com (it's usually easier to do that than to bring credits in from other four-year schools)
--Once you figure out exactly what you want to do, PLAN AHEAD AND CONSULT YOUR ADVISERGreat for these types of students --NJ residents (just because it's cheapest for them, since it's a public NJ school)
--Students interested in becoming teachers (Education majors)
--Students looking for a small, cozy, quiet campus atmosphere
--Students who intend to spend a lot of time working in the library (we have a REALLY good one)
--Students looking for a diverse/cultural campus
--Students interested in being very socially involved and making plenty of friends
--Students looking to stay involved in a variety of extracurricular activities/clubs
--Intelligent and hardworking students looking get a good education
--Students looking to save money on their college decision
--Students looking for smaller classroom sizes (ones more similar to high school)
--Students who prefer a liberal arts curriculum to a professional-oriented one (in other words, students who like variety and well-roundedness over focusing solely on a specific field of study)Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes are seriously great. As a member of the School of Culture and Society, mine are small (around 25 students) and while there is work, its not too much to handle if you know how to balance your time. The professors are nice and informative, and the discussion that generates is not only intriguing, but helpful.
Am enjoying being here I'm a sophomore now, so I've been at TCNJ for a while and have my bearings, and honestly can say I love it here. I fell in love when I visited, and am having the time of my life. There's tons to do, and freshman housing introduced me to people I now consider my best friends.
Bang for the buck TCNJ really is a great value for the tuition price - you're getting an education at the level of top universities without having to accrue a massive amount of debt.
Tips for prospective students Your first year, don't be shy! Get to know the people on your floor, go to community events that interest you (the football games are fun), and enjoy yourself. And don't worry about understanding something right away, as the professors are facillitating and will answer your questions, so don't hesitate to ask.
Great for these types of students Students who are not just academically-oriented, but have a breadth of interests, i.e. students who like to be involved and who also value good grades, generally thrive here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My professors are great! They all make themselves available to the class by offering us email address and office hours. We feel free to email them and drop by whenever we have a concern about the assignments of subject matter. Professors' offices are located directly in the academic buildings, so I know exactly where to find everyone. Additionally, the classes I have to complete in order to graduate with my double major look interesting and engaging. Everyone is assigned an academic advisor that meets with you each semester to check the classes you are planning on registering for to make sure you are making smart choices. Professors provide constant feedback so you always know how you are performing in the class, and give many opportunities to help you process information.
Am enjoying being here Though the area isn't the nicest, the campus is beautiful enough to compensate. I love walking around campus and I always feel safe, even late at night if I walk around by myself. I love the people that I'm meeting and there are always interesting things going on around campus. Also, TCNJ recently announced that they will be building a campus town right on campus so students will be able to walk across the street and be able to enjoy different shops and restaurants.
Bang for the buck TCNJ is pretty liberal with their scholarships. At first I got a decent scholarship, but after speaking to some of my friends I realized that there were higher awards available. After calling the school and speaking to some administrators, I was awarded a higher merit scholarship! I'm paying about half of what tuition costs and it's a great price for a fantastic school!
Tips for prospective students Take matters into your own hands. Don't depend on your parents to call the school and find out information. Calling admissions counselors yourself can impact their decisions. Also, once you have gotten on campus, get involved with as many different clubs and activities as possible. It is up to you to get involved and make friends, and the more you do on campus the easier it will be to meet people.
Great for these types of students Students looking for a reasonably priced education with competitive programs across all domains. Its a good size, not too small and not too large. Small class sizes allow for personal connections to be made with professors, and the campus as a whole is enthusiastic, energetic, and dynamic.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The college is beautiful and houses a smaller number of students, which makes class sizes under 30 in most cases which is wonderful. The students tend to be friendly and respectful. The living spaces are average, but dining hall food is above average.
Tips for prospective students Get active in the many organizations the campus provides, and definitely make use of the free, or low cost bus trips offered by the college! Get to know your professors since class sizes are smaller, and they can of help to you for all four years.
Academic Rigor The work is challenging and sometimes we get totally swamped with work, but its all about time management. The work is difficult, but not unbearable.
Dorm Life The freshman dorms are average, not air-conditioned and the bathrooms are pretty gross when not cleaned properly by the building staff. Sophomore housing has some great options if you have a good housing timeslot, but if not it can be worse than freshman year. Upperclassmen housing is the best, but limited.
Food and Dining The dining hall has the best food of any college I've attended, but it never is the same as the cooking we all grew up on. Meal Equiv is a great thing about TCNJ, but prices in the C-Store are quite expensive when you use your points.
What to do for fun Tons of student organizations to get involved in, and many bus trips are offered little to no cost at all. Greek life is pretty popular as well. There's an organization for every person to love at TCNJ.
Bang for the buck Paying in-state tuition is definitely worth the education I'm getting. I'm exposed to amazing professors, and my peers are wonderful as well. We can all learn from each other at TCNJ. The social life and living situations are also worth the money.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Go down by the lakes! Its beautiful, and pretty quiet.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences TCNJ is a great place for any student who is still figuring out what they want to do. A wide variety of majors, classes, and activities in a smaller-scale environment allows for a great amount of growth and potential in all attendees.
Tips for prospective students Come and visit! Talk to current students, they'll be more than happy to share their own experiences. Even if you're from New Jersey, don't think of it as a cop-out school because you'll be staying In-State. As long as you aren't in your home town, you're going to be living independently.
Academic Rigor The courses are academically challenging, and the classes are still small. It's a great way to go about learning.
Dorm Life Guaranteed housing for Freshman and Sophomores, lots of different options. Convenient arrangements.
Food and Dining One main cafeteria, with many daily options. Good availability and meal plan options.
Bang for the buck Even for in-state students, it may seem a little expensive to attend TCNJ. But in reality, you're getting a quality eduction at a wonderful school that is chock-full of opportunities for everyone.
Great for these types of students All types! There are lots of different people at TCNJ, so you're bound to find somewhere to fit.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The College of New Jersey is an amazing school. I get the education of a private or Ivy league school for the price of a public school. I absolutely love the atmosphere here and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Tips for prospective students You definitely need to work hard. TCNJ isn't a school where you can do nothing and expect to do well. If you work hard and get involved, you will have one of the best experiences of your life.
Academic Rigor It's definitely a challenge being here at The College of New Jersey. The courses are tough and the workload can be a bit much sometimes. However, the majority of professors are very understanding and helpful. If you work hard and manage your time well, you will succeed here.
Dorm Life Dorm life is awesome freshman year. Your floormates become your family, and the friends you make become your friends for your entire college career. The rooms freshman year are relatively spacious and have a sink in them, which is always nice. Sophomore year dorm life isn't too bad either, depending on where you live. Upperclassman dorm life is much better though because you feel like you're truly on your own while living in the townhouses or the apartments. Plus, choosing who you get to live with makes things a lot better.
Food and Dining The food at TCNJ is relatively good. There are so many choices in Eickhoff, the main dining hall. You can get everything from Chinese food to comfort food. There are a few other options on campus for food if you do want to change it up a bit. The Rathskeller and the Lion's Den in the student center are awesome places to hang out and eat, but they will cost you points. However, from 11:00 to 1:30, TCNJ has meal equivalency, which means the first $6.50 of your meal is free. That usually makes everyone on campus happy because it gives us an opportunity to change it up.
What to do for fun While there is a lot to do on campus, such as joining clubs or intramural sports, unless you have a car, there isn't much too do off campus. There is no college town and a lot of things are far away. There is a bus that will take you places, but the times are quite inconvenient.
Bang for the buck The College of New Jersey is an awesome education for the price that us students pay. We have been called the Public Ivy school, and for the most part, it's true. We have even had students turn down Ivy league schools just to come here because the tuition is cheaper, but the education level is about the same.
Great for these types of students The College of New Jersey is great for all kinds of students. However, if you like to be academically challenged, but still have a social life, this is a great place to be. TCNJ makes it possible to balance everything.
Clubs and Activities There are a lot of clubs and organizations on campus, which makes it so easy to get involved. One of the biggest clubs on campus is our College Union Board, which holds tons of unique activities all around campus, and sets up concerts, comedy shows and so much more. Whatever your interest may be, TCNJ most likely has a club for you.
Greek Life Greek Life is definitely a part of the campus, however it doesn't dominate it. You will always see students walking around with their Greek life shirts on, hanging out with their brothers or sisters, but it's not a really big deal around the college. If you want to join, there are many options for you, however, if Greek life isn't for you, there are so many other opportunities to become a part of something.
Campus Safety The College of New Jersey has amazing security. All residence buildings need to swiped in to, and there are always cops and security guards walking or driving around campus. If you're walking late at night, and don't feel safe, there are blue lights which you can walk over to and push a button, and a police escort will come to you. I have never once felt unsafe on this campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the college of new jersey has a very beautiful campus setting. the people here are generally friendly. the college tries to host as many events as possible.
Tips for prospective students go to the gym every day to prevent the dreaded freshmen 15! participate in the extracurriculars. the academics are hard, so study hard (especially if you're a biology or nursing major).
Academic Rigor nursing majors have study almost every day. it is extremely difficult but also very fulfilling. a student learns a lot here academically.
Dorm Life the freshmen and upperclassmen dorms are a bit distant from many places on campus, but the dorms are nice overall.
Food and Dining the food could be better at times, but there is a variety of foods and stations a student could select from. the environment is very nice. the interior is beautiful.
What to do for fun there are places to go off campus, such as yummy sushi. the student center holds special events where a student can get free stuff. there are movie showings twice a week. a student could play pool or ping-pong in the student center as well.
Bang for the buck this school is worth the money as long as the student is serious about academics.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus we have the tuning fork tree, bamboo forest, and a random tire swing.
Great for these types of students this school is great for those who are serious about academics. students will love it here if they like small campuses.
Clubs and Activities there are over 50 extracurriculars you could join. they are each great in their own ways.
Greek Life the greek life here is pretty intense.
Campus Safety the campus is safe. if you want an escort from one building to another, the police officers on duty are more than willing to do so.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the college of new jersey is a small campus where can one get work done. however, it is a campus that still offers social events that everyone can enjoy. it truly is a school based on academics.
Tips for prospective students prospective students should not come here thinking that there is going to be a great amount of diversity, because there really is not. they should also come with the intent to work, a person can't really get away with slacking on this campus.
Academic Rigor this is school is really focused on its academics.
Dorm Life the dorm life is incredible in some buildings, but dainty in some others. therefore, leveling the campus out.
Food and Dining the food is good at first, but eventually one gets tired of eating the same thing time after time.
What to do for fun there are all types of events in the brower student center. there also events in the library auditorium, usually speeches and things of that nature. there is a rec center to play basketball, tennis, and other sports. one can go swimming in the school's pool.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus everyone goes drunk to an event in the beginning of the year called lalanobooza.
Great for these types of students this school is great for people who appreciate small campuses and can't deal with campuses as wide as rutgers. these students must also not mind being surrounded by many caucasians.
Greek Life white-wise the mainstreams are active. divine nine wise there aren't many here and the ones that are active aren't that seen and don't really do events. the latins one, specifically, chi upsilon sigma really does a lot for this campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences admittedly, tcnj was not my first choice when it came to colleges, but i found myself pleasantly surprised at the school's quality once i arrived. its programs are academically rigorous yet engaging, and the faculty are interesting and helpful. despite only being here for only one semester so far, i have found a great group of friends and have had an amazing time.
Tips for prospective students while it's not princeton, tcnj is still very serious about academics and is more selective than many other colleges. as such, you should be serious about your work in high school as well. i didn't realize how selective tcnj was until after i was accepted, and i was surprised to see that many of my classmates had been rejected. for reference, i was top 13% of my high school class with a 1990 sat along with many extracurricular activities and credentials (eagle scout, track captain, etc.). so definitely take your academics/extracurriculars seriously if you plan to apply.
Academic Rigor the school often prides itself on the rigor of its academic programs, and in most cases, it has reason to. don't expect to just sleep through all your classes and manage to pull off an a on the final. many colleges are probably like that, but tcnj really riffs on it. it may vary somewhat given your major (engineers in particular are in for a rough four years), but don't expect to breeze through any of the programs offered. while the courses can be challenging, the faculty is often more than willing to give a lending hand if you're struggling.
Dorm Life the freshman living situation is pretty typical of most college campuses. freshmen are housed in the travers-wolfe towers (where i live) and cromwell hall. while i can't speak for cromwell, i find life in travers-wolfe to be adequate and manageable as they're essentially the average college freshman dormitories. the ac system isn't very good, there's no wi-fi, and there are communal showers. however, it's not hard to get used to, and the upperclassmen dorms are greatly superior.
Food and Dining eickhoff hall, the main dining hall on campus, was recently renovated and has a wide variety of options to choose from so that it's difficult to become tired of eating there. there are roughly ten different dining stations, including deli sandwiches, italian, and oriental. if you do end up getting sick of eickhoff, there are several other dining options on campus, such as the deli in the student center and the t-dubs grill in travers-wolfe. you may become tired of the food, regardless, but the options are there.
What to do for fun on the weekends, it can be a little tough to find something to do at times. there's a definite party scene on campus that's basically run by the frats. if you're not into that, the college union board (cub) does a good job offering a variety of activities and events to attend. it can be easy to just get bored and sit in your room for the entire evening, but there are definitely things going on if you look around.
Bang for the buck ultimately, i find the school to be worth the money, but they aren't particularly forthcoming with scholarships or financial aid. this is more or less to be expected considering that it's a public school, but it would definitely help matters if they gave a bit more.
Great for these types of students since it's a small school (approximately 6,000 undergraduates), tcnj is definitely a place for students who like smaller class sizes and more personal attention from professors and administration. i haven't had a class that has had more than twenty five or thirty students in it, and that is definitely a great benefit for getting more engaged in a class.
Clubs and Activities there are literally dozens of activity and club groups that are active on campus, from model un to crew to literary magazines. if you attend the activity fair during the fall semester, you'll see that the school has every type of student group imaginable, and it's more than likely that you'll find something that fits your interests.
Greek Life i'm no expert on the subject, but there's a significant greek presence on campus and getting involved with them is quite easy. many of my friends plan to pledge soon, and, for better or for worse, it's hard to miss this aspect of tcnj.
Campus Safety due to the school's proximity to the trenton urban area, security is definitely a concern of the school, and campus police has a very active presence. incidents do occur on occasion, and you have to be smart about walking around late at night, but the school places safety as one of its top priorities.
