Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Classes are enjoyable, challenging, and most teachers do a great job in keeping the class interested in course material.
Am enjoying being here UTEP is a very enjoyable place to continue one's quest for a higher education and achieve the degree one is looking for, whether it is a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, a doctorate, or the requirements to enter medical school are to be fulfilled. The school is beautiful and the student environment is one that anyone can easily feel at home with. The only downside to the environment present at UTEP is that the university is somewhat of a commuter college, meaning that most of the students do not live on campus, rather they live in the city and also work part-time (sometimes even full-time!) while going to school. As opposed to a traditional college in which most of the students live on campus, it may be more difficult to associate with students who are attempting to reach a degree like oneself. It may also be especially difficult when attempting to get several students to meet for a group-study session, since many are busy with more than just school.
Bang for the buck The price for being a student at UTEP is incredibly small when compared to other more prominent and well-known universities, especially when considering that the education one can recieve at UTEP is just as good as that of other universities. For example, on average, one semester for a full-time undergraduate student can cost merely around $3,500 for tuition alone.
Tips for prospective students Since UTEP is similar to a commuter college, I recommend that students try their best to meet students studying for a degree similar to their own. Don't be shy to meet new people, and bring up the idea of studying a few times a week with students who are taking the same courses as yourself. It is a great way to study course material and just as great a way to develop long-lasting friendships.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot For the time that I've spent here (2 semesters), every professor that I've had has a different approach to teaching in their own way, making each class that I've taken stimulate the mind and be interesting. There are some professors here that I've heard of who didn't quite please the students, but if there are any unsatisfying professors here, you will most likely hear of them, since the student community is quite close. Classes also vary in size. Some classes may fit up to 200 people, while others only have 30 students as the maximum capacity. UTEP also offers certain applications that other colleges may offer, like WebCT, which is a website in which you can communicate with the students in your class, email your professor, and turn in or receive assignments. No matter what the size of your class is, you will be able to connect to your professor through WebCt. The library is a decent size, and also has programs/sources that help when you are studying, like the Writing Center. In reality, you have all the sources here available to you for study. All you need is a study group, and you're set! Study groups may be a bit hard to organize because a huge amount of students here work while being a full time student. However, thanks to WebCt and peer advisors from my classes, Study sessions were organized, and a study group was even created online through WebCt.
Am enjoying being here Campus life is packed with activities. There are many clubs and events to go to, so it's hard to be bored. Since the community of students isn't that huge, you will be able to meet and connect to many people. I'm a music major, and I've met sooo many students who are majoring in music. There's also a good range of ethnicity here, so you'll meet lots of different people. It's fun that way. Whatever your major is, you'll most likely meet many of those who have the same major as you, and those who don't. Even if El Paso is a small town, there's always something to do, even if it's hanging out at a cool coffee shop, checking out downtown, cheering for the Miners at the Sun Bowl, or going to a concert. :)
Bang for the buck UTEP isn't incredibly expensive. I haven't had a problem covering the expenses. I had a grant for 1000 and a loan, and I was covered. The Food Courts are expensive to me, though. I prefer eating out of campus. There's some cool restaurants around UTEP.
Tips for prospective students Have fun, and enjoy it. UTEP is great for learning, and connecting to those around you.
Great for these types of students It's great for anyone, really. It's a well rounded college that will satisfy the needs of your specific character. The classes are good learning-wise. It depends on your major. The Engineering program is supposed to be one of the best, and the Music Program (from my perspective) is pretty good. The Music Department is growing more and more. Just search up your major, and see if UTEP has the best to offer for it. :)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot It depends on the way a teacher shows there class, some teacher can just leave it up to you to read the book and expect you to learn.
Am enjoying being here The class structure and the way of teaching is not all that complete but it is decent.
Bang for the buck The education is inexpensive and it is quality learning
Tips for prospective students Preferably to be bilingual and multicultural since the majority here come from a mexican american background
Great for these types of students This is a University in a border city, so its great for hispanics!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Here at UTEP the teachers are somewhat helpful, the tutoring center is even more helpful, and there are many resources at the students disposal to use whenever needed.
Am enjoying being here I really do like being at the University of Texas at El Paso. It has many different aspects to it that is really interesting. It really is diverse here and beautiful. You get a chance to meet many different types of people here. The teachers are really interesting especially with the different experiences they provide for each different type of field. The campus is really huge and beautiful. The many different colleges that are here really give a wide variety of the different types of fields and the many different types of jobs you can have in a certain field. The College of Health Science has an excellent program for Kinesiology, Social Work, Nursing, and many more. I am a social work major so the schedule is rigorous and very time consuming, but it is worth every minute of my time. These courses challenge one’s intellect and help with the career one plans to pursue.
Bang for the buck The College of Health Science has an excellent program for Kinesiology, Social Work, Nursing, and many more. I am a social work major so the schedule is rigorous and very time consuming, but it is worth every minute of my time. You really don't want to fail any of your classes, because you are the one paying for the opportunity to have a chance at a career.
Tips for prospective students The University of Texas at El Paso is an excellent school. The campus is big so use all the resources available to you, because you are probably being charged for them in the tuition. So just go for it and branch out.
Great for these types of students I say just go for it. University of Texas at El Paso is not a horrible university. It is one of the best in engineering and much more. What's the harm in trying it out.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Most of the professors have previous experience in the subject matter they are teaching and can offer a lot of insight into the application of said subject matter. The professors also tend to have a bit of a sense of humor which is always nice.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere of UTEP is very non-threatening, peaceful and beautiful which then tends to rub off on the students. The students are very friendly and welcoming which makes UTEP feel like home. However, UTEP is a commuter school and is undergoing plenty of construction at the moment which complicates things a little bit. Many people will seem busy but try and reach out to make friends. You won't regret it.
Bang for the buck For a tier two university with division one athletics, the price of tuition is actually quite low. The education received at UTEP is easily as good as what you would receive at other well-known universities so the tuition price is quite a steal.
Tips for prospective students College is the time to prepare for your career and to forge lasting friendships. Study, but make sure to get out once in a while. UTEP has many opportunities for both study and fun, so make sure to take advantage of them. Try not to stress out too much.
Great for these types of students Since UTEP is adding new undergraduate and graduate courses and majors pretty much every year, UTEP is great for almost any aspiring student. UTEP has some of the best programs and is constantly growing.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I was mentored by one of the students there for an electrical engineering program and I learned a lot from the students there who had the opportunity to learn from amazingly great professors. I have a good feeling i will too learn a lot as they did if not more!
Will enjoy being here The ambient is great. It is full of friendly people. Everywhere i turn im greeted with a warm smile. It has a lot of resources available for the students plus there's a new big gym about to be opened and available for FREE to all students.
Bang for the buck Though it is still pricey for me tuition rates are not nearly as high as other colleges offering the same degree. I've known past friends who now have good jobs such as Texas Instruments and are getting paid the same amount as those who attended top/expensive schools. UTEP offers good quality for a lesser price.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UTEP is culturally diverse and has many student organizations on campus. Faculty is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The university is big enough to offer numerous majors but not too big where an individual student gets lost amongst the masses.
Tips for prospective students Do your research. Find out if your major is offered at the university. If you have trouble locating the information, call the university for assistance and make note of how helpful the staff was, how easy/difficult it was to obtain information. Also, look up information on the city such as public transportation in case you need it, average housing cost and types of entertainment. All this should help you decide if UTEP is the place for you.
Academic Rigor UTEP has outstanding programs. All the courses I have taken were designed to challenge students' points of view and encourage critical thinking. The courses do require a commitment and strive for excellence on the student's part.
Dorm Life I have never lived in the dorms, so unfortunately I'm not able to give a first-hand account of dorm life. Sorry!
Food and Dining There are plenty of restaurants in the area ranging from fast food such as Mickey D's and Burger King to Mexican cuisine, Sushi, Teppan style meals and my personal favorite: Bronx style deli Chubby's, where the sandwiches are bigger than your face!
What to do for fun El Paso is home to the gorgeous Franklin Mountains National Park where you can enjoy the aerial tramway. There are also a couple of casinos, fine dining and a very active night life! For those who would like a little more cultural diversity, we are right on the border with Mexico so you can enjoy a little shopping and lunch in a foreign country and be back home in time for dinner.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Every year we have Minerpalooza which is a huge celebration on campus to kick off our football season. It's a kind of street fair/pep rally mix that is open to the public. During football season there are also tailgate parties for each home game.
Great for these types of students UTEP is perfect for students who would like to experience different cultures along with their academics. The beautiful Franklin Mountains are in close proximity for those who enjoy nature and hikes. You can also enjoy your activities without the hustle and bustle feel of bigger cities.
Clubs and Activities With the various student organizations, fraternities and sororities on campus, there is always an event taking place on campus. There's also food and blood drives, career fairs and of course, plenty of athletic events!!
Greek Life There are numerous associations on campus. You have your pick!
Campus Safety There is always campus security present and the campus alert system is routinely tested. I don't recall hearing about any major incidents on campus in the two years I have attended.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am a music major, and UTEP has an EXCELLENT music program! All the faculty are world-class musicians (one instructor was a member of the President's Own Marine band before taking a job here). The coursework is extremely intense, but I have learned so much! I feel that my time here at UTEP has prepared me well to be a professional musician.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The University of Texas at El Paso is a beautiful campus and getting bigger and bigger. Everything is easy to find if you have any problems at school. Also the food is great.
Tips for prospective students Even though is located next to a dangerous town The University is still the safest place to be.
Academic Rigor The classes are challenging just like any other college but nothing is impossible.
Dorm Life I'm currently living with my parents because I live close to campus but next semester I have plans to move in to a dorm.
Food and Dining The food around campus is really good but it will get expensive if you eat there every day.
What to do for fun What i do for fun is hang out in the Union of the university where a lot of friendly people go to have a good time.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I rate my university as a seven on a scale of ten, which is roughly about three and a half stars out of five. I rate it this way because it is rather small and does not have much diversity due to the region, I believe that would bring more student activities and clubs to join; more liveliness on campus. The course studies are fairly challenging nonetheless so for some the lack of diversity and campus activities is not important.
Tips for prospective students If you are considering this university, take in account your current activity levels, how intense of a program you intend to study and how high your tolerance is for constant sun exposure.
Academic Rigor The rigor of the programs offered vary. Most however are fairly challenging and since the university is small, you can get more in depth with your professor during class to better understand the topics you are learning about.
Dorm Life The dorm life is alright. The dorms are not that spacious and can be quite expensive if you wish to live alone, other than that it can be interesting as nightlife is just a walk away.
Food and Dining There are no traditional dining halls, just a cafe that is not open until late and the food selection is not plentiful.
What to do for fun There are many bars in the area if that is what you're in to. Of course, there's regular activities such as bowling, cinema, mall shopping and many different restaurants to dine in. Also, just two hours away there are the mountain retreats in NM where you can ski, snowboard, enjoy nature, hike, climb, visit hot springs and natural waterfalls, small shops and boutiques, Native American towns and villages, casinos and outlet malls to shop.
Bang for the buck One of the best things about UTEP is its affordability for in state students and students who come from low income backgrounds. If you are transferring in from another state however you should make sure that you can afford the cost because it is quite pricey.
Great for these types of students This university is great for students who love sun, hiking, walking or physical engagement of any sort. It is also great for non-English speaking students whose native language is Spanish as at least one course in any field of study is taught in Spanish.
Clubs and Activities That are a few different club and activities, they span from
safe spaces for LGBTQ individuals to campus wide activities. There are a few different programs being held at any time during the semester for students to check out and you can even bring friends and family not affiliated with the university for a nominal fee.Greek Life There honestly is not that much Greek Life on campus. There are groups but there are not that many activities held by them. Their chapters are actually very small compared to other schools.
Campus Safety Due to the fact that this university is located right near the downtown shopping area it makes it easy for any pedestrians to walk on campus. At the same token, there are many parking concerns on campus so it is very difficult for regular people to park on campus. The police are very vigilant, so there are hardly ever any incidences occurring that are related to crime or disruption of safety.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Engineering Program is well known and well done. Professors are not second rate. Student population is strongly Hispanic.
Tips for prospective students Beware of professors with strong accents.Makes it very hard to take notes. The more you're involved the more fun UTEP is. Be ready for very hot summers!
Academic Rigor It's as hard as you decide it will be. If you want an A you have to work for it. A C would require practically no work.
Dorm Life I don't live in the dorms.
Food and Dining Lots of fast food. Some sit-down restaurants within walking distance. Overall decent food.
What to do for fun Bowling and movies.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences It is a home town university, many students and their families are from here. It is a very community/ family orientated campus, with some expanding diverse cultures here and there. It is an average institution not the worst but not the best either.
Tips for prospective students Tuition prices just got raised so apply for all scholarships, fellowships, on campus jobs, research programs, and possible jobs you can. I would say study but I think that is a given.
Academic Rigor I believe it depends on your major and when you take a course. Certain professors teach better than others and certain courses are offered only at certain times. I personally consider this at average for (UT) University of Texas standards.
Dorm Life I can not comment on this since I do not live in a dorm.
Food and Dining There are quit a few places but you should not attend around noon time, it is always crowded. The food is also very high priced so I would suggest bringing a lunch.
What to do for fun I spend most of my time in a research lab and not on campus activities. What I have gathered though is that there are tailgate parties during football season and various clubs/ organizations to join.
Bang for the buck Honestly, the prices just got raised for tuition. I pay a lot and see all these fees for things I never use. Also, the campus is under construction a lot and I see the things that are going into it, like high maintenance grass. This is a desert and all I can think about is the amount of money it requires to keep it looking not like a desert. I also see the old and broken lab equipment and wonder who distributes funds for use. So I give this a very poor rating, since the university doesn't spend its money where it should be, which is bettering the quality of education.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Unusual? Anything can be unusual if you are not from that area. I guess one thing that struck me as 'odd' was the fact that they sell nachos, burritos, and corn in a cup every where on campus. These food are very traditional for the huge Hispanic community we have. Go to any other university and you probably won't see that.
Great for these types of students Hispanic, if you are from Latin American heritage you will fit right in. A lot of conversation of everyday life is spoke in Spanish only. There are many on campus events that specializes in Hispanic traditions.
Clubs and Activities There are many, I am only part of one so my view is limited. The club I belong to is 'the American Society of Microbiologists'. It is involved on campus and has a growing number of members every year. If someone was looking for a club/ organization for their needs or likes there is probably one.
Greek Life I can not comment on this since I am not part of this. All I know is we do have Greek life.
Campus Safety For the most part this campus is safe. I do have to warn that there is an occasional stalker appearance. Mostly men who stalk women. Also, theft is the biggest problem.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Out of a scale of 1-10, I would give UTEP anywhere between a 7 or 8. Compared to a lot of schools, especially after a semester or two, this is a great cost effective school and is immensely beneficial in terms of money, credits, and time!
Tips for prospective students Don't hesitate to apply here, it is a great school and I actually have grown to love it here. There are many benefits as a smaller school; it's cheaper, you have more of a one-to-one with your professors, choosing classes is somewhat easier to get into, parking is not as expensive as other schools. There are just so many benefits, so don't let this be your last choice of school because it has really brought me a lot of opportunity and new friendships, even with professors.
Academic Rigor Although it seems like an easy school because of what downers say about it, some classes are challenging. A college is a college and just because it is not as popular as most people think, it is really getting up there in challenging students academically, but effectively!
Dorm Life I wouldn't know, but from what many of my on-campus friends say, they like it, because they get to get that college experience many high school seniors strive for, especially as freshman or community drawn students. It's pretty affordable and there are many restaurants to choose from that are walking distances from the dorms.
Food and Dining There are so many choices, from A to Z. Everything is even a 10-15 minute walk at the most from the center of campus to wherever you want to go. There are even healthy options and intact some clubs and night hang-out spots for the weekends too.
What to do for fun There are many organizations to choose from, and getting involved is exactly what you want to do especially as an incoming freshman. It helps keep you on your feet and really in the school spirit. From games, to movies to special campus help events, UTEP has so much going on, which should not be any excuse for not being able to participate or get involved.
Campus Safety Campus police are a little strict especially when it comes to parking or driving enforcement, but overall very friendly and really bring in there name as peace-officers

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UTEP offers the best college experience. As A freshman and resident of the city, everyone is friendly and cooperative. UTEP from a table from 1 to 10, is 100!
Tips for prospective students You must be organized coming into the college life. There is a lot of assigned readings so it is best to find a place without distractions, so that you can really focus and understand what is going on in your lectures.
Academic Rigor Depends the field you are entering, but I strongly enforce never falling behind or procrastinating, some teachers do not weigh all their grades the same so have a high chance of failing if you don't do your work.
Dorm Life I currently live with my parents, but from word of friends its exciting and great for experiencing your source of independance
Food and Dining Great! In a diverse community like UTEP there is an array of food to choose from. You're options are endless
What to do for fun There's of course the night clubs close by the school, to get to meet new people on the weekends. But during school hours there is a lot of pep rallies and fundraisers that promote different organizations.
Bang for the buck Everyday there is one organization or lecture going on that offers free food as long as you're willing to listen to a lecture or see what that club is trying to offer to the community.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Minerpalooza, freshman are encouraged to attend to get a feel of what campus is like and interact with members of frats and sororities.
Great for these types of students Students who are willing to pursue in their education, UTEP is the place to start. There is open arms to everyone of all different interests

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I think UTEP is a university that has great opportunities for its students. It is a good school that is continuing to grow and is allowing students to get to learn in the best installations possible. It is also a very comfortable place to study, and it is located in a city with some of the best sunsets in the United States.
Tips for prospective students Prospective students should be ready to find a variety of people with different ideas and with influence both from El Paso and Juarez across the border. They should get to know their professors and get to know the city in which the university is located, as well as the people that live in this city. And lastly, make good use of the library and the different installations around campus (specially the new ones).
What to do for fun There are plenty of activities to do in UTEP, games to attend to, fun activities at the dorm buildings, plays, contests, rallies, etc. The secret of having fun lies in meeting as many different people as you can and get involved in the different groups and activities that take place around campus as well as in the city.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is Leech Grove, a place that most students must pass by as they go to their different classes and where you will find all kinds of people doing all kinds of things. You can see people selling books for 25 cents, people giving out free food, people trying to make their voice heard about different issues, and people just hanging around laying on the ground, relaxing before or after a class.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences utep is an incredible school and one with which i am proud to be associated. the administration is striving to achieve tier 1 status which would bring great notoriety to our city. i believe utep cares about the citizens of our city and has made it more than possible, actually achievable, to receive a stellar education regardless of sex, age, ethnicity or affiliation.
Tips for prospective students get involved! there's no reason to be alone on a campus that offers so much. you'll find your niche - no doubt!
Academic Rigor the expectations of utep are extremely high but most professors go beyond the call of duty to make sure your experience is a positive one.
Dorm Life i have no information with regard to dorm life as i do not live on campus.
Food and Dining the wide variety of food available is magnificent. whatever you happen to be craving, you will find it just around the corner.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences it is a great school. this school offers great opportunities to achieve experience before you graduate with your bachelors. i would rate it with the highest grade possible and recommend it to everyone!
Tips for prospective students put your best efforts into all classes. do not underestimate the professors. do not drop classes, it will be better for you to fail or pass with a low grade and you can re-take it again later. also, you might not know if at the end you can get a high grade and you won't have to re-take it and waste a semester.
Academic Rigor the classes will be challenging but it is possible!
Dorm Life i do not live on the dorms so i wouldn't know...
Food and Dining the university of texas at el paso has several restaurants inside the university including fast food places as well as healthy places to eat. also, it is surrounded by lots of delicious restaurants outside campus that offer discounts to the university students.
What to do for fun for fun there are lots of activities inside campus. also, during the vacation break, there are lots of extra-curricular courses for a low price such as pottery, swimming classes, fitness classes, cooking classes, etc.
Bang for the buck to be a major university the price is pretty good especially if someone receives financial aid, or if they have parents that can pay for school. even if you don't have those two, with a part-time medium paying job, you will be able to pay for school. the semester averages from 2,500-3,000 dlls.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the campus' structure is bhutanese. it is quite interesting as i've seen pictures of bhutan and it looks exactly as the university! also, there is a cool place called the union. this place has lots of interesting meetings throughout the semester that provide information about scholarships and job offers as well as the main food court for the university is there.
Great for these types of students it is great for all types of students as we do see a lot of hispanics, indian, oriental, american, african american students,, making the university a diverse place in culture.
Clubs and Activities there are lots of activities throughout the semester. one of them is an activity that lots of people from different cultures gather in one of the university parks and sell their typical foods of their countries and their drinks. it is a great opportunity to get to know other cultures. this just one not to mention all of the other activities that happen around campus.
Greek Life i never participated in the greek life. i know there are greek clubs in the university but i never had the chance to participate in any of them.
Campus Safety it is excellent. el paso was ranked #2 or #3 in the nation as one of the most safe cities in the u.s. since utep is in el paso, it is also very safe even when you are here at night. there are almost no crimes if hardly any reported in the university and in el paso.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i wish they would offer more classes for my major, along with offer more classes per semester. the professors are very nice and are interested in helping students succeed. it's windy in the spring, but the weather is nice in the fall.
Tips for prospective students as with any university, read at least the first three chapters of your text books before the first day of class. think about what you want to do for the rest of your life so you don't waste your time taking a bunch of classes you don't need.
Academic Rigor it depends on your major. some majors are significantly harder than others. the academic rigor also varies greatly from professor to professor - don't take the easy way out, you'll learn more if you go with a harder professor.
Dorm Life it seems every night i'm kept up until one or two in the morning because the people below me love to blast their music and the people above me love to stomp around and no matter how much you complain no one does anything about it. additionally, my roommate is not my favorite person in the world. you do a short survey to see if you're compatible with anyone and they do not do a very good job with pairing people up to room together (either that or people lie on their survey's).
Food and Dining the food at the union (the place where you buy food) is absolutely disgusting. you're basically given four choices: squishy chinese food, greasy pizza, over-cook chicken nuggets and fries, or dry mexican food. i heard they are changing the menu though, we'll see...
What to do for fun it's el paso, tx. there is nothing to do for fun!!! unless you like going to the movies, there's really nothing to do. ice skating is a seasonal thing, it's too windy in the spring to do anything outside during that time of year, it's too hot to do anything outside during the summer, and there's nothing else to do in between.
Bang for the buck i'm assuming bang for the buck means getting a good deal for the money you fork over. things are relatively cheap here. i think the movies are more expensive than many big cities though (that's probably because the movies is the only form of entertainment here). food is cheaper, gas is cheaper, that's a plus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there are always events going on during the year. during the fall semester we have miner palooza, which is a huge party the university hosts and something like twenty thousand people show up to. at the dorms there are always events being held, like this wednesday the dorms is hosting kick axe which is an event to teach defensive fighting techniques. usually free food is provided!
Great for these types of students for science majors, they allow undergraduates to join research laboratories. it's nice, you get to learn techniques with hands-on experience, and there's the possibility for publication.
Clubs and Activities there are lots of clubs to join and lots of activities to do around campus - you just might have to go looking for the right club join or activity to do.
Greek Life greek life is really not big on this campus.
Campus Safety if you're smart, the campus can be really safe. there are break-ins that occur at the dorms (but that's because people leave their doors unlocked). if it's late and you feel unsafe walking to your car/dorm alone, you can call campus police and they will escort you.

Food and Dining the university of texas at el paso has a wide variety of food and dining. it consists of mexican, italian, american and chinese food and a wide variety of others. the university consists of its own restaurants and coffee shops while surrounding the university you still have more places of food and dining.

Tips for prospective students always ask i you have questions or if you find yourself stuck on an issue. especially concerning grades or the university. the counselors are more than glad to try to help you out.
Academic Rigor academics could be exhausting and rigorous, but nothing one cannot handle. as long as you keep on organized and on top of assignments, you'll be fine.
Dorm Life the dorms are fairly new and in well kept shape.
Food and Dining there isn't a cafeteria exactly but there is a union with restaurants inside. the restaurants cary with many different types of foods, but its pretty expensive.
What to do for fun utep is located near downtown, where there are bowling alleys close as well as bars, cafes, clubs, and restaurants around it.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The environment at this university is quite relaxing, though it feels like a college campus it also feels like a place you can easily fit in since the people there are so diverse. It's amazing how the school keeps growing and making adjustments to the campus so everything looks nicer and more professional. All of the teachers that I've had have not been disappointing, all in all it's a pretty decent school.
Tips for prospective students The internet at the library is a bit slow so don't be surprised if it takes you forever to get online there.
Academic Rigor Though UTEP is serious about their students' education I believe that a few of the teachers could take things a little more seriously.
Dorm Life Though I don't live in the dorms I know people that do and they seem to enjoy it.
Food and Dining Though the food is good it bothers me that they don't have a main cafeteria. It's mostly just shops and stuff.
What to do for fun Go to football games and participate in school events.
Campus Safety The campus is quite safe. I haven't heard of anything unusual happening and I frequently see campus police walking around.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot Second time now, I came back to UTEP thinking that my Freshmen year was just bad timing. But all is the same, tired of Power Point Professors that use another person's slides to teach and don't even have the will to correct the errors in the slides. Now I will transfer to another college, for those who have evaded these type of professor, I envy you, because I got the majority of them and brought disillusion to the university.
Did enjoy being here If they would actually helped, it would have been enjoyable.
Bang for the buck I'm still trying to pay my tuition even when I'm not a student here anymore. It feels like it is the Bank of America of schools, $15 fines here and there.
Tips for prospective students Interview your future professors, avoid the Power point professors.
