What is there to learn about U.T.S.A. ? For starters, how great the college is! I love the size of the college, not so big but then again not so small. I learned that U.T.S.A. offers a variety of degrees from the Arts to Engineering majors. I have also learned that the people here at U.T.S.A. are here to help you, students are friendly and professors really want you to learn. Lastly, i learned that in college you can never get behind, you have to be focused and willing to do better and never settle for less.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the environment, the people, the whole feeling of being here and doing what i want to do.

    Bang for the buck

Yes, money is always an issue no matter what college you attend. Still, the faculty of financial aid are willing to help you get the most of your aid and help you out with payments. Plus, make sure you save up some money, or a lot of money for books and housing, that includes food.

    Tips for prospective students

You may think college is all fun and parties, it is but then if you do not know where your priorities lie, you can get bad grades thus might getting on probation. A good tip is to remain focused, do your work, never fall behind and study! Parties will always be here and there and fun is all around, just manage it all carefully.

Great for these types of students

Everyone who is new coming freshman.

I didn't think I could learn more from the basic classes than everyone needs, but I have. There are some points that weren't even mentioned from my high school classes.

    Am enjoying being here

I've made a great deal of new friends, and there are lots of organizations that you can get involved in and give yourself something to do rather than sit in your dorm (or apartment) every night and study. Not that it's a bad thing to study, but it's great to give yourself a break once in a while

    Bang for the buck

UTSA is very affordable and I'm getting a good education for what I'm paying.

    Tips for prospective students

Go to the professor during their office hours, it's a great deal of help. SI sessions can be very helpful, so go to as many as you can if you're class offers them.

Great for these types of students

UTSA is great for all types of students, you just have to be willing to put in the effort to strive for the best.

With most class sizes at UTSA being no larger than what high school students are already accustomed to, professors have a unique opportunity to interact with each student individually.

    Am enjoying being here

At UTSA, the majority of the buildings are very new which makes for a very clean, modern campus. Not only is the campus beautiful, but everything is conveniently located making the necessity to go off-campus rare.

    Bang for the buck

The Financial Aid office here is always eager to help a student maximize his or her monetary rewards. Included with UTSA tuition are the gym, the clinic, and health services.

    Tips for prospective students

Once you are here, do not hesitate to join clubs or speak up in class. There are organizations for every type of student, and the administration and student body is always willing to help out a fellow roadrunner.

Great for these types of students

UTSA is a great home for every type of student. With a diverse student body in an exciting city, there is always something to do for every one.

There are plenty of classes that you can take! UTSA offers a varity of different subjects taught by various professors that widens your choice of which classes to take and from whom you should take it from.
I am currently a Psychology major and all the classes that I've taken (both psychology related & core classes) have taught me thoroughly about the subject and more.
Outside of class, the school has both an Army and Air Force corp that allows for an individual to learn to build his or her characteristics and to provide an opportunity to join the forces.

    Am enjoying being here

There are housings all around the school that is very close with a shuttle bus system. Plenty of student organizations make up the school and all my friends are busy helping out or enjoying an event each weekend.
I am currently joined in a Korean campus Bible study group called BASIC (Brothers And Sisters In Christ). It is opened for everyone and it helps me meet new people and to discuss about my interest and learn more!
Importantly, the school provides a great studying environment. The library is opened for 24 hours on weekdays, which helps the students to check up in their studies in a quite and comfortable environment.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition fee is not a give away because the school provides students with great facilities and service. One of the great facilities in school is the Rec Center. Its is a gym center for UTSA students, opened until 12am on weekdays and it includes a basketball court, indoor soccer field, racquetball courts, indoor track, treadmills, and even a lazy pool. In a time of stress, the Rec Center is a great place to let everything down and just focus on working out and sweat away all the frustration.
UTSA provides over 20 restaurants on campus, including Chick-fil-A and Chili's, and even has a hair salon and a stationery store.

    Tips for prospective students

Fully prepare and research before settling down with a decision! Look through all the housings, on and around campus, and research all your options of when and where to take your classes.
Most importantly, don't feel scared or intimidated about coming to college. As being a Korean, I am a minority and a female but the school environment welcomed me right in and had me meet great people all throughout my college years.

Great for these types of students

UTSA is great for all types of students! Females, males, majorities, minorities, and all the other types you can think of! And the great thing is you will be able to find people and become friends with people of all types !

As a state school, UTSA has a large variety of programs to choose from. Unfortunately, also like a state school, quantity is valued over quality here. Odds are, if you are majoring in something in the college of business, science, or engineering, your first three years of classes will have upwards of one hundred students enrolled. Professors cope by making tests all Scantron and Parscore, and to make things worse each discipline requires a different one. This only allows professors to test your memorization skills, not comprehension or critical thinking. I was able to get by in genetics without ever knowing what exactly a ribosome was. However, some professors do make the effort to get to know their students and there are some very experienced professors who still employ short answer and essay exams, but they tend to be only in the college of humanities.

    Am enjoying being here

As a commuter college still on its way to become a university whose name actually impresses people, UTSA is in a very transitional state. As a large college, there are a large variety of activities going on at any one time, but there is a lack of unity on campus. That may change in the future as we just got our own football team, but for now the college seems like motley crew of people simply trying to get their degrees done, many of whom don't take their studies as seriously as they do their parties or Greek societies. As for the professors, in many of the colleges they are more focused on their research than on the quality of education that they provide to the students.
With the student population increasing every year (right now it sits at 30,000), many of the classes are overcrowded, parking is a mess, and the relationship between the student and the professor suffers. It is incredibly difficult to develop any sort of relationship with your professor, much less a close enough one for them to write a good letter of recommendation - and with scholarship and graduate program applications asking for several, it is almost impossible.
Amenities are improving. We have a large variety of restaurants on campus, including Chic-fil-a, Chili's, Burger King, Panda Express, Taco Cabana and two Starbucks, but these are pricier than their stand-alone cousins, and never participate in any of the advertised promotions.
We have a state-of-the-art Recreation Center, which looks very nice and offers many ways to work off those freshman fifteen. UTSA also just built two very nice looking buildings, the Bioscience Technology and Engineering Building, and the Applied Engineering and Technology Building, but unfortunately they only house professors' offices, labs, and a few graduate classrooms.
UTSA has two parking garages and is in the process of building a third, but the parking passes for these garages cost about three times as much as a regular parking pass, and they aren't building any more lots. Another building in the works is the North Paseo Building, which will house more classrooms. These examples epitomize UTSA's current situation - a former commuter school aiming for Tier One Status.

    Bang for the buck

UTSA definitely has one thing going for it - at about $4,500 a semester for a full-time student it is affordable. However, with the state of Texas facing a large budget shortfall, cuts are in the making, and UTSA has suffered as a result. Currently the school's financial aid is in a sort of limbo as a result of the budget cuts, while several thousand students depend on it.
While tuition is reasonable, UTSA gets you with the fees, which are upwards of $1,000. One good thing about UTSA - they are always giving out something free for some reason or another.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not live on campus. Housing is ridiculously expensive for what is offered. If you choose off-campus housing, choose somewhere a little bit farther out - the difference in price is amazing. If you currently live at home with your family in San Antonio, stay there.
Take advantage of as many free events as you can. UTSA offers movie showing on Friday nights, and has several events throughout the year where they give out free t-shirts, food, miscellaneous items, and hold contests. Go to as many of these as possible. You paid for them, so don't ever feel guilty.
The Recreation Center offers trips throughout the year to different places in Texas for activities like canoeing, kayaking and backpacking at discounted pricing. Take advantage of these also.
Develop an early and close relationship with your professor by not only talking to them after class but by going to their office hour and emailing them. Talk about things other than that particular class, and try to get to know them as a person. Also, until they know it by heart, always tell them your name. You'd be surprised how long it takes for them to remember it.

Great for these types of students

Humanities students who want to save money, as our college of humanities is not a bad one at all and employs a variety of very good professors, especially in anthropology; students who want to do research in the sciences, as we have many graduate programs available including programs aimed at getting students interested in research and later admitted into graduate school.

You'll learn as much as you put into it, just like anything else. Ask lots of questions of your professors: you'll learn and look like you're giving it a good amount of effort.

    Am enjoying being here

There are so many things to do on campus and so many club gatherings to attend. The rec has a lot of cool hang out spots and a great exercising facility. There are also some decent places to eat or just hang out at. It's pretty easy to make friends here.

    Bang for the buck

Classes aren't too expensive for going to a state school. Some of the professors really give you your money's worth, but then there are those professors who could care less. Check ratemyprofessors.com. It's saved me from some terrible professors! Another good idea is to attend S.I. sessions or go to the TRC Q-lab for some extra help.

    Tips for prospective students

The parking situation is a toughie. If you want a spot, you've gotta give yourself fifteen or so minutes to find one, or get a moped/motorcyle for special parking. Or try parking at the Valero parking lot where you get shuttled from the parking lot to the school.

Great for these types of students

The student clientele at UTSA is pretty well-rounded. There's a niche for everyone, you've just gotta go find it.

UTSA has great professors that are not only good at what they do but make the subject matter enjoyable and easy to learn. Classes are difficult but that's how you know its worth the money, right? UTSA also offers SI sessions and has a huge library with helpful staff to further your success.

    Am enjoying being here

The atmosphere is pleasant, accepting and friendly. There are plenty of events and clubs to incorporate all students into the UTSA culture and make college fun. The recreation center on campus is extensive and conveniently located.

    Bang for the buck

Cheaper than UT Austin with the a great and climbing standing in the college ranks. The professors know what they're doing and the information is accurate and up to date. A great library system with online catalogs, professional journals and free newspapers is open 24 hours with plenty of computers, private rooms and cubicles for study. The campus also has a great recreation center with a rock climbing wall and several sport fields open to all students.

    Tips for prospective students

If you're looking for a place where you can be yourself, earn a degree and have fun meeting new people; UTSA is a great place to look with a nice price tag. Find a place close by or live on campus to cut transportation prices out of the equation and allow for quick access to the campus or your home if there is ever a need.

Great for these types of students

Any student, from those looking for athletic and Greek clubs to serious students who want to hit the books, join academic clubs and be prepared for their future jobs will fit in perfectly here. There is a diverse population of people from all over, come be a part of it!

Learning depends on the type of person you are and the type of person your professor is. Sometimes you will have to adjust your learning styles in order to follow along. If your a visual learner you have to stay focused because most teachers lecture. But I have learned a lot. I come home and almost everyday I tell my parents something new.

    Am enjoying being here

I am only here for a short while, both at the downtown campus and 1604 but I really like it. The downtown campus is located very conveniently in the heart of downtown, so if your not from San Antonio, a little sight seeing between classes could be something fun to do.

    Bang for the buck

Very cheap considering everyone else. If your from S.A all you have to worry about is tuition, fees, and books. I payed nothing outta pocket, thanks to financial aid.

    Tips for prospective students

I have lived here all my life, and the school is great for someone who wants to stay in town. There is a great atmosphere about the school. And if your not from San Antonio, the school is not to big so you wont feel completely overwhelmed and lost.

Great for these types of students

Kids who want to stay at home in S.A. or for those who want to go to a University but not a huge one.

They have tons of programs included in your tuition that allows you to take advantage of and help in your classes. They have free tutoring, writing centers that help you with your writing for free, they have SI classes that help you in your classes, again free. A lot of people commonly decide UTSA is not a good school just because it is a satellite of UT Austin but it is in fact a great school thats growing very fast. I hope to one day see it as big as UT Austin and Texas A&M.

    Am enjoying being here

I decided to go to UTSA with the intention of transferring to UT Austin through the CAP program. After less than a week of being here at UTSA I backed out of the CAP program and decided I wanted to stay here at UTSA for my four years of college. UTSA is a great campus, the people are fun and nice, and I have no reason to not like it here.

    Bang for the buck

Unless you go to a community college you can expect college to be very expensive. UTSA is for the most part has a pretty good price for its price. They offer many free programs, free shuttles to get to class, free gym membership at the recreation center, and much more. The price is definitely worth it when you get a quality education with much more. My only problem so far is paying my on campus apartment rent.

    Tips for prospective students

Balance between studying and fun is a must! But of course this is true for all college students.
Get to know the campus, it helps so you dont waste time walking the longer routes to class. Class scheduling should also be set so that you do as little transportation as possible (to and from the campus).

I am learning a lot at UTSA. Not just in academics but also about myself. UTSA has great professors who are willing to help you if you just make the effort.

    Am enjoying being here

I love being at UTSA. It has activities for everyone to do. The people that you will meet are campus will probably end up becoming some of your best friends, in the long run.

    Bang for the buck

I believe that you will get your moneys worth at UTSA! The experience that you will have is worth it. I am a cheerleader for UTSA, so there is a lot for one to do on and off campus. The student population at UTSA is pretty well diverse. There is something on campus for everyone, you just have to know where to look and who to talk to.

    Tips for prospective students

I suggest that you go to your professor during their office hours, or if your not the one on one person, then try the SI sessions or the TRC Lab. Also, make good use of the library since it is open 24/5.

Great for these types of students

If you are living off campus, parking can sometimes be a hassle. I would suggest the UTSA Shuttle Bus or leaving home an extra 10-15 minutes early to find that spot. Trust me you are going to need it.
If you are living on campus, you can use a bike or walk. The dorms are not the far from campus if you use your shortcuts.

You can learn new things just about anywhere, but UTSA has broaden my knowledge greatly. Not just academically, but in maturity as well. UTSA provides tutoring centers paid by your tuition so it is free to go to. It helps a lot, so you shouldn't be afraid to step into one. I am learning a lot throughout the months. In some large classes they have SI leaders. SI leaders are basically students who have previously taken the class and passed with an outstanding grade. They will be there to hold sessions after or before class to go over what the teacher lectured about. It is not mandatory that you attend the sessions, but they are helpful. They definitely helped me. I was worried about the classes being too big and I wouldn’t be able to learn, but the tutoring centers help. And your professor, depending on them, will help you out if you are struggling. Just ask for their office hours. But if you are to afraid to go up to them and ask them for help, ask the students around you or go to the tutoring center. They are always willing to help. As for me I love it. I am learning a lot. I have attended SI sessions and have been to the tutoring centers. I truly mean it, if you are afraid that you won’t get the help you need, you definitely will.

    Am enjoying being here

I actually enjoy UTSA. The campus is expanding and it’s a nice school. It’s a clean well kept campus. Everyone is pretty friendly and the students are very active. You will always see people with a booth table giving information on their club or just doing fundraisers. It is a fun campus with activities going on. The recreation center is amazing, so use it while you are there! I have meet many new people and I am from San Antonio. A lot of my friends are transferring to UTSA because of how chill it is.

    Bang for the buck

UTSA is affordable unlike the other universities. The food/restaurants here are great. The people and staff are nice. Their are people here at UTSA that are willing to help and answer any questions. It is a great school. So go for it!

    Tips for prospective students

Don't get distracted by others. Don't be afraid to use the advising centers, they are there to help you. As well as the tutoring centers, they are established there to help you. Don't give up, study, work hard. But most of all don't forget to breathe and enjoy college.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for students who want that college experience. Who want to me new people and are willing to learn about what the world is like out there. If you are looking for a university that is collected, has activities going on, and is chill UTSA is a good place for you.

I love it here. The weather is perfect and everyone is very happy and there is never riots or crimes. It is peaceful yet there is a few parties once in a while.

    Bang for the buck

I consider it being a bit expensive yet worth it for the college experience and this university has a lot of resources that help.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early. Do not procrastinate. And do not party too much cause this will affect you later on and it will be reflected on your grades.

Great for these types of students

This university is great for those who are disciplined and know how to control themselves being away from home. Since, you'll be having fun while keeping up the GPA you've always wanted.

U.T.S.A has been a great experience this first semester for me. They have great teachers and lots of people there who are willing to help you if you need it. They have tons of tutors and teachers who will give up some of there time to teach you what your having a difficulty understanding.

    Am enjoying being here

U.T.S.A is a fun and great school. They have tons of activities for you to enjoy and a lot of places at the college where you can hang out with friends. They also have a lot of events that take place at the school that and cool to do. My favorite event was casino night, where we got to play all sorts of poker games.

    Bang for the buck

At U.T.S.A you can get an outstanding education at a lower price then almost any four year institute here in Texas. Tuition is some what cheap and getting financed is easy to do at U.T.S.A, not to mention the school itself offers a lot of scholarships making it even easier to pay for school.

    Tips for prospective students

when attending U.T.S.A or any college it is always good to be prepared for anything and everything. You need to always be on top of your school work and make sure you always study for your test. Also for your first semester don't overload yourself with classes take it easy your first semester so you can get the feel of what college life is then you will no your boundaries and no what you can handle and what you can't.

Great for these types of students

If your looking to go to college and get a great education while at the same time have and make new friends, then U.T.S.A is the place for you.

Every day here at UTSA you learn more than you did the day before. You have so many wonderful resources to use and they are very helpful. I learned a lot about the different undergraduate programs they offer. Attending both the downtown and the main campus is a fun experience and you receive the equal amount of education from both campuses.

    Am enjoying being here

I am really enjoying being here. Even though I was born and raised in San Antonio, I love it even more knowing that we have such an amazing university right out our back door. The college experience is a thrilling roller coaster, you never know which loop your going to go through next.

    Bang for the buck

Even though all colleges are expensive, I believe UTSA really gives you all that you pay for. I think it's fairly affordable for anyone, even if you couldn't afford a private school, you could still manage to pay for UTSA.

    Tips for prospective students

Choosing UTSA would be an awesome choice. I think you can receive the same amount of education you would at any ivy league schools. A handy tip would be to manage your time and priorities. There are many distractions, but you must know the time and place for them. Study, study, study!

Great for these types of students

I do believe any student would enjoy their attendance at UTSA.

    Will learn a lot

Just by going to the orientation I felt I learned a ton! Everyone was super helpful. At first I was nervous, being that it is a bigger school, I was going to get lost and not find my way. Now I feel way more comfortable. My adviser was super sweet, and you can honestly tell she wants you to succeed and enjoy your time at UTSA.

    Will enjoy being here

I know I will enjoy going to school here. Just while attending the 'RoadRunner Round Up' I already met a couple of cool and exciting friends! The environment was more than I expected. I thought that I was just going to be a number, but now I feel like a true RoadRunner!

    Bang for the buck

For a University I think UTSA is a deff bang for its buck! For one semester my classes alone was just roughly $4,000. To me that is a great deal! But keep in mind there are other fees that total the tuition up. If you just take advantage of these, like the medical center and the recreational activities, which defiantly make up the 'bang' for your buck. Just looking at the list of what the recreational center offer is amazing, from nutritional cooking classes to zumba classes, I sure cannot wait to join these.

    Tips for prospective students

I feel UTSA is a university everyone must take a look into. There are several different majors to choose from within each college.

Great for these types of students

UTSA is great for any student who is searching for a friendly environment and is ready to learn to take steps towards their career goal. Keep in mind that even though it is a university not all the classes are 100+ students, several of my classes cater to about 30 student, which actually makes me feel like a student and not just a number.

You have an opportunity to learn a lot if you attend classes and are understanding the information the professor is teaching. I learn a lot by taking good notes and making sure I go to (SI) Supplemental Instruction sessions outside of class. There are also many places to go other than the library to study and the school provides many computers for your access.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being at UTSA because it's a good learning environment, the students and professors are very friendly, and the school is on it's way to becoming a Tier 1 school.

    Bang for the buck

    UTSA is worth the money.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to check out reviews about professors and classes before you enroll in them. Make sure of the library and (SI) Supplemental Instruction sessions. Be involved so you can make lots of friends also.

Make sure you always attend class, it seems obvious and tesdious, but you never know when your teacher will give you a pop quiz. And a zero goes a long way.

Great for these types of students

Students who do not mind to commute, and love to live in big cities.

There are very many subjects students can major in. UTSA has a great learning environment! The Professors are extremely helpful as well the advisors and supplemental instructors. UTSA is a great university which is currently trying to achieve Tier One status and it is clear that it will be soon.

    Am enjoying being here

The learning environment is great! There are small classes available which make it possible to have one-on-one time with professors. The Ta's, advisors, Supplemental Instructors, and professors will give students the resources they need to succeed.

    Bang for the buck

If you receive financial aid, good. tuition is usually $3000 to $5000 per semester depending how many classes you are taking. The university offers scholarships and holds contests at the beginning of the semester for free books!

    Tips for prospective students

Stay on top of assignments and do not procrastinate! Use all the resources the professors give to you as well as the library.

Great for these types of students

UTSA is a great school for those who want to learn. Learning at UTSA is easy as long as students participate.

I find that the of education provided here is of high quality.

    Am enjoying being here

This institution is wonderful. The environment is very clean and both the students and faculty take their jobs seriously. The campus is relatively safe as well, the local police force does well to patrol the area often.

    Bang for the buck

For the quality of education you receive at this institution, it is fair to say that it is a relatively cheap education. UTSA shows that you can afford a great education.

    Tips for prospective students

Apply early. Because UTSA is gaining more publicity, it is going to be harder getting into this institution for years to come.

Great for these types of students

Those who enjoy a fun, safe, and involved community should attend this school. There renovations are fantastic and most of all of the buildings are fresh and new.

The professors really try to work with their students and are simply excellent educators. The professors that I have had these past two semesters have made their lectures interesting and enjoyable. There are some exceptions to this; students should always make sure to check out reviews on their professors to ensure a good learning experience.

    Am enjoying being here

UTSA is an enormous campus with a very spirited campus life. There are so many organizations for students to join and be a part of something. It is very easy to make friends and get to know your peers. The classes for freshman and sophomores are very big and are filled with around 200 students, so it's important to make allies in each of your classes. Everyone seems to be nice and helpful at this school.

    Bang for the buck

Tuition is not cheap by any means, but it is reasonable compared to other universities. I myself have to depend on loans, scholarships, and all the help my family can give me. I'm not looking forward to paying all those college loans after college, but I feel like the quality of education that I'm receiving is worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure to become involved in something that you're interested in. College is very much about the level of education you receive and logging in the proper study hours, but it is also very much about socializaiton. There are a myriad of opportunites for everyone to have something they're passionate about. It doesn't matter what organization you join, just get out there and join something! You will not regret all the experiences and people you are able to meet and come together with for a common purpose.

Great for these types of students

UTSA is great for all kinds of students, but you must be prepared to study hard and actually attend all your classes. You would be surprised how many students just throw away their money by not even showing up to class. That is unwise because you're paying thousands of dollars for it, you might as well utilize all the resources you can!

Most of the professors here seem to really care about their students. Classes are fairly easy, and even if you end up in a difficult class there will more than likely be curves and extra credit added. Professors do not want to see you fail here.

    Am enjoying being here

The campus is not half bad. UTSA is still expanding and building new buildings for students and faculty. The people are friendly here, and there's also alot to do! The campus is literally across the highway from a large mall, Six Flags, and Seaworld. So when you have time to spare you can go across the street and there's always something to do. Not to mention downtown is only 15-20 minutes away!

    Bang for the buck

Price will always be a hassle at any college. However, there are plenty of places you could find a job at or near the campus. In most cases, you will get help from financial aid at UTSA. UTSA is specifically a Hispanic serving university. So, if you're of Hispanic descent you're in luck!

    Tips for prospective students

If you're planning to attend UTSA, then good choice. You guys are going to have a NEW football team playing in the Southland conference. Remember to go to the SI sessions 'cause they do help build good study habits, especially if you're an incoming freshman. Hangout at the cafe, meet some new people, and remember to leave enough time in between your classes to get there on time and to get a bite to eat.

Great for these types of students

UTSA is great for any type of student. UTSA is especially great if you're a CAP (Coordinated Admissions Program) student. This school will definitely help you get way above the 3.2 GPA. Trust me, I know. I am a CAP student and I attend UTSA right now.

This campus is so beautiful and there is always so much to do around campus. Also, with so many clubs to join there is something for everyone. The hometown environment is also great because it never hectic and everyone is always so nice. It's not too big but not too small. Also, the campus

    Bang for the buck

UTSA offers alot of great majors and degrees for everyone. Every college is going to be expensive, but UTSA offers alot for what you pay. It offers free tutoring, free shuttle services, alot of campus activites, recreation memberships, discount offers from local buisnesses, and lots of other stuff.

    Tips for prospective students

College is SO much different than high school. If your a procrastinator, try to change that before you come to college because its hard to grow out of it once your here. Also study as much as you can and avoid going out alot. One thing I learned is don't overload yourself during your freshman year. Freshman year is a time for learning the new routine, making friends, and understanding what college is all about. Enjoy it!

Great for these types of students

Anyone looking for great college career with a friendly environment.

At the UTSA, unlike most other large college campuses, all of the buildings are in the same vicinity so getting to class is no problem! The professors are all willing to work with students individually to help them make the grade. The lecture halls vary in size, but for the most part, are a decent and hold approximately 100 students. All professors have office hours in which you can visit them and ask them anything! Another thing that UTSA offers are Supplemental Instructors. These instructors, or SI's hold sessions that help students with the class that they are taking because they, in fact, have already taken the class themselves! If you attend the SI sessions, your average grade will go up a whole letter!

    Am enjoying being here

The campus has so many wonderful people and everyone is nice! The dorms are ten0times better than most other college campuses because they are apartment style which means, your own room! The campus is not too big and not too small. It makes you feel as if you are at large university, such as UT Austin, without all of the confusion!

    Bang for the buck

From residence life to the beautiful campus, the price, even for out-of-state, if very reasonable and there is plenty of financial aid that is available to any and every student!

    Tips for prospective students

I would definitely recommend joining the Greek life on campus. Although I am not a apart of the Greek life, a lo t of the main events that go around on campus are sponsored by the Greeks, and they are always involved! If not interested in Greek life, there are PLENTY of clubs that are available to students from every walk of life.

As we all know, it is school but the environment allows you to be relaxed and study smart. The campus is centralized so you arent running across campus, worring that you arent going to make it to your next class. I enjoy it

    Bang for the buck

For the money, its a great education. UTSA is moving towards a tier 1 research school and the on campus support programs help pull you through tough times in classes. The Tomas Rivera Center helps along with SI Sessions through your courses. It is definitely up there with UT Austin and other wide ranked universities as far a education, in my opinion.

    Tips for prospective students

Study hard and smart, Get a plan as far as organization when it comes to your classes and schedule. Time management is key. Get involved in the campus and have a little fun. Your there to learn, but don't kill yourself, live a little. Don't get too crazy. Do the readings and attend SI sessions, Get to know the professors, it can help when it comes to close grades and test judgments. Sit near the front so you don't have that many distractions.

The university is very diverse. This allows a multicultural approach to your learning environment. In addition to this the vast student body allows for much collaboration in ideas and networking.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you get to know your professors. They can really help you out in the future. Plus, they are the teacher so if you learn the subject matter how they know it you will for sure get an A!

    Academic Rigor

Clearly dependent on which major you pursue, but I can speak first hand for the College of Science. It is no walk in the park!

    Dorm Life

All the dorms are nice except Chisolm Hall. Make sure you sign up for on campus early and choose the nice residential halls (Laurel, Chapparel Village, or the almost completed new dorm).

    Food and Dining

As a freshman I loved the Rowdy Cafe. A great option of food with an at home feel. They also have Chic-fil-A, Subway, Panda Express, and Taco Cabana. Oh, and lets not forget Starbucks and Einsteins Bagles!

    What to do for fun

Go to any of the tailgating events for our new football team, at the Alamo Dome. You are guaranteed to have a great time! Also, as advice join a university club that interests you, that is a great way to meet great people!

    Bang for the buck

This University is definitely worth every penny. Not only is it one of Texas' fastest growing institutions but they offer a great variety of disciplines to work towards.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The Fountain at the Sombrilla. If you dip in it before your test you will make an A!

Great for these types of students

Open minded, cultural, and studious students.

    Clubs and Activities

I was the president of Alpha Epsilon Delta (Pre-Med Honor Society). Joining AED was probably the best thing I did while at UTSA. But, as for other clubs; the Greek life has a great presence here and there are many other clubs that are very connected with the student body.

    Greek Life

A lot of fun! Unlike the stereotypical GREEK, here at UTSA, the students in Greek life give back a lot to community and are for the most part great students, and still have a great time!

    Campus Safety

Security is everywhere. Which is a good feeling, there has never been any altercations or many robberies in my four year stent. And that is saying a lot for a University with over 35,000 students. Go Roadrunners!

University of Texas at San Antonio has all the tools you need to succeed. Many students here have the mindset of fulfilling their careers, but most of them don't take the advantage of what the school has to offer. UTSA makes learning and pursuing you long term goals a piece of cake with everything they have to offer.

    Tips for prospective students

For incoming students, the first thing I would suggest is that you get familiar with the campus. Not just by knowing to get from place a to b, but actually seeing what is available and knowing who can help you. For everything you need at UTSA there is always someone there to help you out.

An open campus in the literal and metaphorical senses. It is diverse like one would not believe; every race, religion, creed, nationality, and orientation attends this school. This is also a currently expanding campus in numbers, academics, and construction.

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved and stand out. Find the organizations that meet your interests and join them, if you're looking for fun or community service or academic honors, then join those organizations. Stand out in your academics, in your activities, on your beliefs.

    Academic Rigor

All courses offered are meant to challenge the students' academic abilities and teach them. There are no free rides in life and the courses offered reflect that, students have to work for their grades.

    Dorm Life

Dorm life depends solely on the student's preference. The best dorms offered are Laurel and Chaparral, mostly because they're owned by the university. Third place goes to University Oaks since it is the largest complex on campus and is apartment style, yet it is of less quality of amenities and appliances. Fourth and last is Chisholm Hall, like Oaks it is owned by a separate company, it is dorm style with two people to a room sharing a private bathroom and a community kitchen. The rooms of Chisholm are occupied by coed occupants in each of 4 hallways but only same gender roommates occupy the rooms.

    Food and Dining

There are many choices offered to meet student preferences, even name brand restaurants like Chili's, Subway, and Chick-fil-a to name a few. Each restaurant is located in specific buildings on campus to offer convenience to bustling students that need food on the go. Let's not forget the Roadrunner Cafe on campus! At the Cafe, students are presented with a large buffet with preferences to include vegetarian needs, students can either use cash to dine or swipe their student IDs to use their meal plan dollars.

    What to do for fun

The University Center is not just the center of activity on campus, it is also the center of fun on campus! The Roost is available in the UC to meet your gaming needs with PS3, XBOX, Wii, and sports like ping-pong and billiards pool. At night, the UCPC (University Center Program Council) offers free weekly entertainment from live performers to movie showings. The biggest events to look out for are the Casino Night, the BBQ Nights, and Party on the Paseo, because when you miss them, you miss out! CAB is another event offering organization in the UC. For sport fanatics there are official teams to cheer to victory, including but not limited to Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer.

UTSA is one of the least expensive universities in San Antonio. As tuition rises, scholarships and grants offered by UTSA can be found through the financial aid office and are easier to find upon completing the FAFSA before April each year. Tuition costs rise as enrollment increases and academic requirements increase as Tier One Status approaches!

An annual tradition around Fiesta here at UTSA is the Party on the Paseo, offered to educate students of the dangers of alcohol and as an alternative to drunken partying and dangerous activities. An unusual flood of tradition appeared all over campus with the inaugural year of the new football team, the tradition swell expanded during Homecoming week with everything from car smashing (consent given) to pep rallies to bring in that winning attitude.

Great for these types of students

This university is literally great for all types of students; life is what you make it, the same applies to your college experience! If you are a social, full of school pride, academic concerned, innovative person, then this is your school. The weather is the most random constantly humid type that you will ever experience in Texas but the education and experience are well worth it.

    Clubs and Activities

The Clubs and Activities available are literally too numerous to list in less than 300 letters! Any interest you have, there is an organization to match it, and if it doesn't currently exist then you and your 8 friends need to create it. Believe me, there is a club for zombie tag, that's how limitless the activities are at UTSA!

    Greek Life

Like the many clubs and activities, there are Frats and Sororities to meet student needs. Unlike the college films, these Greek Houses put academics first.

    Campus Safety

One of the safest campuses in the country is how one describes UTSA. There is constant police presence and the last major security breach hasn't happened! This is thanks to the responsible Police Department on campus.

UTSA is incredibly diverse and multi-cultural. It encourages student participation on campus, as well as promoting different things to help students in their studies. It is a very student-friendly environment.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not be scared to just talk to the person sitting next to you or someone eating by themselves. Take advantage of the facilities that are there for students, such as the library services and advising services. They are there to help you and you are wasting money by not using them.

    Academic Rigor

UTSA classes are nothing that a student can't handle. If you go to class, take notes, turn in assignments, and do at least some studying outside of the classroom, you will do well. No class is a blow off class.

    Dorm Life

The fellow students living in the on-campus place that you choose are all very nice. There are a lot of events within the communitys to promote socializing. Maintenance can be slow some times, but, overall, life on campus is great!

    Food and Dining

UTSA has a wide array of choices on campus with two food courts. Also, for those who have a meal plan, the Roadrunner Cafe is a great place with lots of variety. It doesn't get old because there are so many different choices from sushi to burgers or hot wings to stir fry.

    What to do for fun

UTSA is always hosting events on campus such as kareoke, open mic, or movie nights. The best part is that they are almost always FREE! Plus, if you cannot make it to any of those events, there are different organizations passing out flyers and information all week on campus about different events they host.

    Bang for the buck

Bookstore is overpriced, but what college bookstore isn't? If you apply for your FAFSA and financial aid, UTSA is affordable. BUT you should by your books online or from upperclassmen, not the bookstore!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

UTSA has a lot of school spirit and with this being their first year with a football team, the games get ROWDY!! Also, a lot of people longboard on campus which is really neat. Midday, campus is the place to be Tuesdays through Fridays; there's booths, all kinds of people, and music--students are just having fun and having fellowship.

Great for these types of students

Great for people who like to have options of things to do that are cheap and close by. Also great for those who love meeting new people and walking everywhere.

    Clubs and Activities

There are a TON of clubs to pick from so you will definitely find the one that is your fit. Also, there are activities every single week; something is happening every day, just be on the look out for flyers and facebook notifications. Best advice: GO! You never know what kind of people you are going to meet aor what kind of things you are going to experience.

    Greek Life

None of the sororities or fraternities own a house because of certain rules and regulation in San Antonio, but that doesn't mean that Greek Life isn't big on the UTSA campus. There's many to choose from, all of which have their own special signature. Greek Week is very fun and active with the whole campus.

    Campus Safety

The police are really nice. They want the students to enjoy themselves, but in a safe manner and environment. They are easy to locate because they are everywhere, but it's not overwhelming or anything--all for the safety of the students. I feel safe on campus no matter what time it is or where I'm at.

The villages also include several laundry rooms and kitchens for all residents of the village to share. The campus also provides traditional dorm style residency through Chisholm Hall and apartments through University Oaks.

    Food and Dining

There are various restaurants such as Taco Cabana, Chile's, Subway, Burger King, Panda Express, and many more scattered among the campus and they are all within quick distance from each other. There is also the Roadrunner Cafe which is a sort of cafeteria for UTSA students. It provides a buffet style setting with various food choices. A meal plan at Roadrunner Cafe is required with residency at Chaparral and Laural villages.

    What to do for fun

The campus has a gym called the REC where students can go work out or play sports. The REC also has a lazy river and a pool as well as a rock climbing area. utsa is a great university. there's a wide diversity of people, students and teachers alike. you'll find a lot of opportunities here, weather it be with clubs and organizations, meeting new people, or in your studies; utsa is the place to be.

    Tips for prospective students

study hard, and don't procrastinate. if you know a subject you are taking is not one of your best, keep on top of it and ask your fellow students or your professor for help. people at school are a lot nicer then you think. so while you're passing a class you'll make great friends at the same time.

    Academic Rigor

it all depends on your major and the classes you are taking that will make school difficult. what is rigorous for one person could not be for another. i'll rate it at a standard three to give some leeway because even through semesters the work load and difficulties change.

    Dorm Life

i have never lived in a dorm but i have been over to some of my friends. what makes dorm life enjoyable, i've noticed, is the people you live with. if you're roommates are the complete opposite from you, you're not going to have a great time living in a dorm. dorm life could also be miserable or perfect depending on what dorm unit you live in. one section of dorms could be known for their parties and others could be known for banning achoholic drinks. make sure you pick the right dorm unit to live in that mets your needs. so i'll rate dorm life at a three because i truly have no personal experience other then what i have seen.

    Food and Dining

the food choices at college is great. you have so many options to choose from, and a lot of the fast food places on campus are open late. the only thing that hesitates me into making this a five is the money. food on campus is a lot more expensive then what you think. some fast food places are even more costly then what you would find at the same place off of campus. so make sure you have a lot of money, or bring some home made food to save you're wallet.

    What to do for fun

there really isn't much to do at utsa other then study (at the campus library), go to the rec (gym), or go to the roost (a sort of entertainment center that has video games and pool tables). you'll find quickly that you'll get bored of the campus if you're not hanging out with friends while at either of the three places mentioned.

    Clubs and Activities

i haven't joined any clubs on campus because my major takes up the majority of my time, but there are a lot of clubs at utsa to choose from. they have almost anything you could think of. there's a lot of different religious clubs, help clubs, donation to the less fortunate clubs, and race awareness type clubs. there's even a hookah club on campus. so i'll rate a four for all the choices you can make. hopefully you'll find something you'll enjoy.

    Campus Safety

campus safety is great. there's a lot of police men around, and they have the number to contact the campus police or hospital all around campus and online. you'll even find it in the parking lots. you'll definitely will feel safe at utsa.

    In three sentences

utsa has a diverse student population, a wide range of student services (including an excellent gym facility, complete with cooking courses, personal trainers, and rock-climbing wall), and a rapidly growing academic program with professors from all over the country and abroad. utsa is a great place to be if you want to have an impact on the rest of the student population; there are many student organizations to join, but it is also easy to become a key member (or even the president) of any club in which you're interested. academics are stronger in some fields than others; students in sciences and mathematics will find that the university puts a lot of money and time into those programs, while liberal arts departments are often smaller (though the classics and philosophy professors are absolutely wonderful, as well).

    Tips for prospective students

a car or a good bike will make your life much easier. san antonio is difficult to navigate via public transportation. keep your eyes open on campus; there are a lot of wonderful opportunities for students (academic and otherwise) but they aren't always advertised very well. speak to your academic advisor, your professors, your fellow students, and the people in the student activities center to figure out what's going on around campus. academically, expect that core curriculum classes will often be boring but that your major classes will make up for that. i would advise trying to test out (via the clep exam) out of any core curriculum classes that you can. i tested out of four, i believe, which really cut down on the time i had to spend in classes i didn't like.

    Academic Rigor

this really depends on your department. i found that the core curriculum courses were laughably easy and, in many cases, a waste of time. however, my major classes were more rigorous, and some were even quite challenging. if you have money and are looking for an academically rigorous education in the liberal arts, i would suggest looking at other options. that being said, many of the professors (including the liberal arts professors) who work at utsa teach the same classes at private universities in the city, so you'd get the same value for your money at utsa as elsewhere in san antonio.

    Dorm Life

i didn't live on campus, but i had friends who did. they seemed to enjoy the experience.

    Food and Dining

there are many dining options on the utsa campus, including the roadrunner cafe (the traditional dining hall) and many food businesses around campus. you can pretty much find anything you're looking for, be that falafel wraps, sushi, pizza, smoothies, salads, breakfast foods, or more. when i first arrived on campus, i was frustrated with the difficulty in finding vegetarian options (even the salads originally often had meat in them), but the dining facilities and the school are very responsive to student feedback, and there are many more veggie options available now. furthermore, students who feel that the dining facilities need improvement are free to join a committee along with dining services staff that seeks to improve student satisfaction. students on the committee have a lot of influence over changes to the dining programs on campus.

    What to do for fun

a lot of the more exciting options in san antonio are downtown, which requires a fifteen/twenty minute drive from the 1604 campus. (the 1604 campus is the main campus, but there is another utsa campus downtown. i believe that many of the poli-sci and architecture classes take place downtown.) the riverwalk, of course, is a major tourist attraction. it can be a bit expensive, but it's a lovely place to visit, especially if you've never seen it before. during the winter holiday season, the riverwalk is lined with lots of beautiful lights, and it is dyed green for st. patrick's day. it's a pretty festive area with lots of great bars, restaurants, and shopping opportunities. first friday (an event which, appropriately enough, occurs on the first friday of the month) is an opportunity to go downtown to look at various art and music events and, of course, bar-hop.

san antonio has a city orchestra which plays on a somewhat regular basis throughout the year, and various theaters offer chances to watch plays and musicals. there are three alamo drafthouses in san antonio, movie theaters which play a mix of the old and the new and allow you to buy meals and alcohol from waitresses while actually watching the movies. the drafthouses regularly have theme nights, so if you're an anime-nut, a rocky horror picture show fan, or ... well ... any number of other things, you'll like these movie theaters.

the arts scene in san antonio is booming, and there are lots of great galleries downtown. the mcnay museum of modern art is also a wonderful place to visit, and it has free admission on thursday afternoons/nights and on the first sunday of the month. the san antonio museum of art is also worth a glance, though not quite as impressive as the mcnay, and it also has times that offer free admission.

closer to the 1604 campus are lots of great cafes and a few good bars, including the best jazz bar in san antonio, chango's havana club, and flying saucer, which has the best beer selection in town (hundreds of different kinds). for thrill seekers, the six flags fiesta texas amusement park is really right down the street, as is sea world. san antonio's most famous shopping center, la cantera, is also very close to the 1604 campus. for those who like a little country in their lives, the hill country is a short drive away, featuring lots of lovely towns with various food and agricultural festivals, knitting and quilting events, and general small-town charm.

to sum it all up, san antonio might seem a bit more quieter than other major cities at first glance, but there is really quite a lot to do in the city. whether you're interested in sports, the arts, community service, or nights out on the town, there are lots of wonderful options. if you can't find something to do on friday night (or even on wednesday night), you probably just haven't looked hard enough.

    Bang for the buck

utsa is the best university in san antonio in terms of the value it provides for its money. the private universities, while quite good, charge high tuition rates and often employ the same professors who work at utsa. utsa provides a decent education and an accredited college degree for less money than most other institutions. it also provides a lot of great services for its students, too, including work-out facilities and academic counseling.

Great for these types of students

great for students in the sciences, mathematics, social work, and public service. also great for students in classics and philosophy who can't afford to go out-of-state. great for students who can sniff out opportunities and run with them. great for students who want to be important contributing members of the student body.

    Clubs and Activities

there are a lot of clubs and activities on campus (more than you could actually ever participate in). not all are very active, but many are. even if you don't belong to a student club or organization, there are still a lot of events on campus throughout the year, including best fest (which takes place in the spring), sustainability day, earth week, sports games, etc. it's pretty easy to start your own club, too, if you want to do so. there are many fraternities and sororities on campus, several honors societies, many major-specific clubs, some environmental groups, a community service organization or two, and an lgbtq group, among many others.

    Greek Life

there are many fraternities and sororities on campus that are actively involved in campus life, community service, and which, of course, serve that all-important function of hosting university parties. i wasn't very involved in greek life, but i know that it existed at utsa. that being said, it's a pretty easy scene to avoid if you don't care for it, and utsa didn't seem to have any major problems with fraternities or sororities like i've seen at other schools.

    Campus Safety

the campus is extremely safe. security guards patrol the campus at night, and there are strategically placed security phones around campus that allow you to call for an escort if you do feel unsafe. i have frequently wandered around campus during the wee hours of the night by myself and never felt unsafe.

    Tips for prospective students

Just a standard university. Compared to my previously attended university- University of Texas at Dallas- the appearance and building layout isn't as nice. The parking at UTSA is pretty bad, and there is definitely an overcrowding issue.

So many new discussions of course material is also new material that I have not learned before and am appreciative of the wide range of offered classes here at UTSA.

    Am enjoying being here

Being at a university is a lot more responsiblity and freedom than high school, however, it is also more enjoyable because of the fact that I am attaining a higher education. Just the decision to enroll and attend UTSA has made me grateful that I did because it is a beautiful campus and wonderful institution.

    Bang for the buck

Although tuition is somewhat costly, as is almost every college/university, that is something that can be overlooked because once you attend UTSA, you are sure to enjoy being here. It is a truly amazing school and the tuition price is definitely worth it.

    Tips for prospective students

Work hard on all of your assignments and be sure to study hard as well because some classes administer grades based solely (or mainly) on test grades or essays, so be sure to work hard on those so that you can pass all of your future classes.

Great for these types of students

Striking up a conversation with strangers about the University of Texas at San Antonio yields mixed results around the city. A common perception of some uninformed people is that UTSA is little better than a community college for San Antonio's north side. Unfortunately, that couldn't be farther from the truth.

UTSA has begun seeking status as one of Texas' premiere universities, although much work still needs to be done. As such, its academics have followed suit. Professors encourage students to come to class every day, warning that those who do not rarely pass let alone achieve decent grades. Instructors often utilize the John Peace Library and various other systems around school (such as the computer labs, distance learning technologies and campus events) to engage student learning.

Unfortunately, as a disadvantage to both the university and some unmotivated students, studying is often self-taught. Other pupils are often reluctant to form study groups or tutor anyone who isn't their friend. That being said, the professors are usually very friendly and willingly to work with whoever comes to their office hours.

Overall, you will learn a lot at UTSA so long as you can do things on your own. Students and professors sometimes do reach out to help. I'm sure that, over time, the school will develop a much closer academic community.

    Am enjoying being here

The University of Texas at San Antonio is a developing university, and its student body really does reflect that. UTSA has over 30,000 undergraduates and graduates, but you would never feel it. Most students come and go as they please, many having not ever engaged the school's clubs, fraternities, festivals or events. This has lead to the college being pejoratively labeled a commuter school by some.

However, UTSA has an amazing and fun social scene if you are willing to stick around after classes are done. The student leaders put on an annual BestFest in commemoration of Dia de Los Muertos in the fall and Fiesta UTSA during the spring semester. Lots of students gather around at these times to take a break from the stresses of college life and enjoy the campus. Students are encouraged to check out these events during Freshman Orientation (which everyone must attend). Some newer traditions include the annual Party at the Paseo, which takes place during Fiesta, and Roadrunner Days.

I personally enjoy every minute I'm at UTSA. Being involved in several clubs, such as Student Government, the Young Democrats, Green Society, French Club, Soccer and Theatre Club has only strengthened my ties to the school. Just putting yourself out there will garner so many organizations who would love to have you as their newest member.

If you can motivate yourself to move to club meetings after class, you'll be welcome at UTSA's campus. It's very fun, albeit challenging at times, since so many potential members do not care for extracurricular involvement. I enjoy being involved in the scene, but it's obviously not for everyone.

    Bang for the buck

UTSA is a public school; that in and of itself means that the school gets significant funding from the State of Texas to lower tuition rates and provide very cheap services. Students have access to an award-winning recreational facility (dubbed The Rec), select free medical services, sprawling soccer fields, computer labs, and conference rooms. Tuition rates at UTSA are some of the lowest among 4-year colleges in the United States; admittedly, however, this is due in part to San Antonio's low inflation rate.

It's a pain for me to have to dish out the kind of money required to attend a large tertiary institution like UTSA every semester, but it's well worth the cost. The university runs a large financial aid department which works with individuals (through counselors) to pay for the rather hefty bill any respectable college requires. I've been to their fiscal services and financial aid offices, both of which are bustling with people who are paid by the State of Texas to help you fund your college education.

UTSA's professors accept relatively low salaries, so many are not top-level lecturers like you will find at Ivy League universities. Yet, most are truly dedicated to their discipline (from Anthropology to Astronomy), if inexperienced.

It's not a question of how many services the university offers to its student body, but whether or not one can afford to pay what a respectable post-secondary school demands. UTSA works with you, sure, but it's important to realize that they can only go so far to help students finance their college years. If you can afford to attend UTSA, the price will be well worth its pain.

    Tips for prospective students

Prospective students should not underestimate UTSA's academics. The school places people with GPAs below a 2.0 on probationary status. If no improvement has been made after a semester of being on academic probation, the student will get kicked out. This happens to a lot of freshmen; don't think it won't happen to you, because it can.

Students often feel lonely at UTSA since clubs don't always flaunt themselves to incoming freshman. Go out there and be active in the community! If you can't afford to drive back and forth to campus, consider living on campus for a while. It's the best way to make new friends and become well-known around school.

Also, avoid taking 12 hours every semester. UTSA's freshmen advisers encourage students to do this, but it's only supposed to be for your first semester. Take 15 hours during your spring semester. Taking 12 hours for every semester will result in a 5-year degree instead of the expected 4.

Great for these types of students

UTSA is a great school for students seeking a bachelor's degree from a local university but wish to attend a Tier 1 graduate school. Students graduating Cum Laude or higher often have aspirations of attending the University of Texas at Austin's graduate school. Many students use UTSA as a springboard for more schooling in the northeast (especially those pursuing careers in Law).

It offers lots of opportunities for campus life, but it's not atypical of an average university. Overall, UTSA has a decent amount of activities, events and clubs in which social students will prosper.

Academic students are the most prominent around campus, since they dominate classrooms as star pupils, TAs and SIs (Section Instructors). UTSA has a moderately-competitive academic atmosphere, but it becomes increasingly rough as less-studious people are dropped due to low GPAs. The Honors College is barely visible around the school but honors clubs are important figures in the university social structure.

Students looking for a degree close to home, in this case Central Texas, will always feel at home at UTSA. As the college grows larger, UTSA will become more than a regional university and instead a nationally-recognized institution. However, that day is far away and for now the type of student seeking a good education close to home will feel the most comfortable.

When I took the tour, I was AMAZED at the amount of things there are in there. In fact, I even told my boyfriend what there was at UTSA who goes to the college down the road, and he said UTSA had it ALL! Art muesem, indoor pool at chisholm hall, gym has a rockwall, all the places to eat (chilis, subway, starbucks, PLUS more and the dining hall) a ticket master, a frost bank....
