Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students When I first walked on campus, I fell in love with it. Take a tour! It's wonderful! Enjoy the grass knolls and talk brick buildings before you decide Towson University is your home. Then if you do decide that you're home, Towson University makes you home with carnivals and other events on a day to day basis the first whole month you're on campus, so Freshmen fear not, this school is outgoing and introverted, studious, active and fun.
Great for these types of students This school is great for all types of students. There are clubs and activities for anything you'd like to try (I was in three). It's a party school and a study school. It is it's own little community and it seems from the inside of the school to not be in the midst of a large city, but you're surrounded by places to go, for the people who hate being in one place. There are great people here for those who are scared they won't meet new friends and the teachers are fantastic with working with you so you'll pass, for those who are academically nervous. All in all I'd give this school an A+ for diversity in sex, religion and race.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I recently transferred from a 4 year public college closer to my home, to Towson University mainly because of their Business Program. At Towson, they were very professional and the students and teachers knew fully what they were talking about compared to the other college I attended. I like how it is a bit challenging to get into the School of Business because that will show my future employers that I am a hard working student. They also have that exact program I want to study which is a major in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Public Relations.
Will enjoy being here Absolutely. I already met a few people from my orientation that I have kept in touch with through facebook. The campus is absolutely gorgeous and is in walkable distances to the local strip where there is a starbucks, movie theater, mall, and over 100 restaurants. Also only 20 minutes away from downtown baltimore. The harbor is so nice and many great activities to do. I am also living in the apartments which have a full kitchen/ living room and 1 and a half bathrooms.
Bang for the buck It is a little expensive compared to my former college but that is considering I am out of state. But not too overly expensive that I am having trouble paying for tuition.
Tips for prospective students Definitely check out the campus and talk to current students and faculty. That will help make your decision right on the spot.
Great for these types of students Students that love to be apart of campus life and work hard academically.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have just completed my first semester at Towson. Last semester I took 5 classes. I'm an art major so two of my classes are art classes. In the classes i took i honestly learned a lot. Each of my teachers went in depth in their courses and although i did have one very impatient teacher, the rest were happy to help with anything you didn't understand.
Am enjoying being here I love Towson and am very happy I chose this. Before I enrolled i took a tour and i knew this was the school i wanted to attend. When walking around there are always people outside, unlike many other schools I've visited. The walk from my dorm to my classes isn't that bad and maybe takes 5 minutes at most. There is usually something to do every night and a lot of school programs are offered. There are a lot of clubs and I found it fairly easy to make friends. There are a lot of sororities and fraternities which is very popular here, but you don't have to be in one to have fun.
Bang for the buck I pay in-state tuition and i think its a reasonable price price for the quality of education.
Tips for prospective students I would suggest taking a tour or visiting the campus before enrolling, that will really tell you if you belong. Also i would suggest going to the on campus events, at least for the first month. In September they have a month with things to do everyday. Freshman are given a carnival which is fun to go to for at least a little while. And although many freshman don't want to take part in the planned activities on their Dorm Floor i would suggest going. I had a lot of fun on my floor and is how i made my first friends.
Great for these types of students I think Towson's good for all types of students. They have activities and clubs for every type of person and everyone is given a fair chance to make friends.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Towson has so many classes you can choose from with great professors. There are classes I took in high school that I needed to retake at Towson where I learned so much more than I did originally. I haven't had any negative problems and was even on the Dean's List!
Am enjoying being here I adore Towson! It's so close to Baltimore and has plenty to do within walking distance. There's a mall, a Barnes & Noble, a Record and Tape Traders, a public library, and a huge used bookstore all within 10 minutes of walking from campus. And Towson's campus is just fun to lay around on during nice days and super fun to go sledding on during the winter! And the food is great!
Bang for the buck Towson has a medium tuition/room and board rate, but I think it's worth it. There are other places I could of gone for cheaper, but I don't think it would have been right for me. I wouldn't of slide into the school so well, and probably wouldn't of done as well in classes.
Tips for prospective students Don't bring a car unless you absolutely have to. Towson doesn't normally give out freshman parking passes, and it's seriously a waster of money if you manage to get one. You can walk everywhere, and there's a bus system, so why pay for gas?
Great for these types of students If you're a city kid, this is a great place for you. It's not in the middle of nowhere. Also, it's a great school for prospective teachers. Towson has a great education program which I'll be entering in the coming semesters.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm a Biology Major/Chemistry minor adnthey have some of the best professors here. They really know what they're talking about and if you're interested and do some of your own snooping around you can find some geat opportunities for reasearch or shadowing professors in every major.
Am enjoying being here I'm not exactly homesick but I miss the quietness sometimes. I don't live in the country, but especially on campus college kids tend to be loud. I'm nota huge fan of the dorms myself but on campus actvities, clubs, organizations, and whatnot will keep you busy and there is ALWAYS something to do. I just wish they had a decent diner in the area, but the other food places are amazing.
Bang for the buck Especially being out of state I feel like I'm over-paying considering in-state is less than half of what I'm paying.
Tips for prospective students Take a tour and make sure you know what you want, especially for housing. As of Fall'10 they're finishing up a lot of construction on teaching buildings, but moving onto reconstructing a lot of the residence halls. Living on campus is always an option and tends to be cheaper, plus no RAs and there is a shuttle if you don't have a car.
Also, buy points. The meal plan is a scam unless you like/live close to a dining hall (Glen complex or Newell). It'll probably aid in keeping you from the freshman 15 too.Great for these types of students Towson is one of the top colleges for Accepting of Alternative Lifestyles (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) and most people are very accepting. I feel that races are very segregated though and its disappointing. Towson is also #1 friendly school for vegans and vegetarians. There are tons of food options, even for those who keep Kosher.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers at Towson are amazing. they honestly care about you as a student and as long as you're willing to put in the work they will help you get the grade you're working for. College is truly a new experience and Towson is the perfect place to teach you responsibility for yourself and preparedness for the real world
Am enjoying being here The people here are great. There's an awesome mixture of cultures and you can find your niche no matter what it is!
Bang for the buck TU probably has the best education for the best price in Maryland. I checked out so many other school before Towson and either the education didn't measure up to a high price or a low price meant less quality, but here the teachers, students, and TU community is exceeds its price.
Tips for prospective students GET INVOLVED. The more you get involved on campus, the more people you'll meet and the better your college experience will be. Towson has a club/society for everything out there and if they dont you can always create one. I highly recommend greek life! Going greek isn't only for rich snobby kids but for everyone. There's an amazing mix of people in fraternities and sororities and they enhance who you are through philanthropy, group study sessions, and greek socials. You'll meet alot of people and truly learn about yourself as a person.
Great for these types of students Towson is a great place for everyone!

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Attend Towson University. Plain and simple. The campus is beautiful whether its covered in flowers blossoming during spring time or layered by a thick blanket of snow. The people there are beautiful and very friendly. The teachers are like family and are always willing to help.
Great for these types of students Anyone with a pulse. I recently completed my freshman year and had the time of my life. If you like to party, they have all kinds of places for you. If you're the more studious type, you will enjoy learning here with great professors and class sizes for every one's liking. Almost every sport is division 1 for any athletes interested. Even the food on campus is top notch. Attending Towson University was one of the best decisions. You should follow suit. You will not be disappointed.

Categories Rating Comments Am enjoying being here At Towson you will make friendships that will last your entire life! And the free stuff they give out at events are not bad!
Bang for the buck For in state students Towson is an affordable university.
Tips for prospective students Learning your way around Towson can be difficult so don't be afraid to stop and ask for directions. We've all been the new kid once.
For first years I'd advise not to party too much or too hard. You have so much freedom at college but don't fall behind in your studies. There are a lot of things to do on the weekend from going to the mall, other college events, and the Baltimore Harbor is just a shuttle trip away! Plus the library is a great quiet place to study. I suggest the fourth floor.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot With a wide variety of majors/minors to pursue, and some great faculty with valuable professional experience, Towson is really a great university to broaden your educational horizons. Regardless of your field of interest, it's likely that Towson can accommodate you. It is also my understanding, though I haven't experienced it yet, that Towson really does a good job of setting you up with good internship opportunities.
Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful when there's not a lot of construction going on. Recent construction has been a major frustration for everyone, but for me it doesn't take away from the overall enjoyment of Towson. There are so many ways to get involved on campus, whether its through clubs, Greek life, SGA or sports. While Towson isn't necessarily located in a college town, it is right down the street from Baltimore and there's always a lot going on. As far as the social life goes, Towson is a very large school and it's growing by the year; getting involved on campus is the easiest way to meet people. That being said, the night life for many people is all about the bars and clubs located in Towson and Baltimore. While there are house parties, being located in a crowded suburban area makes them less prevalent than they would be in a predominantly college town. Oh and by the way, plenty of beautiful women.
Bang for the buck While I can't speak for the out-of-state students, I know the in-state tuition is very reasonable for the value. Towson has been consistently ranked as of late as one of the best public school values, including a ranking in the top 50 in the Princeton Review. For all you Marylanders out there, Towson is a great value.
Tips for prospective students Come take a tour! The best way to find out if Towson is for you is to come check it out first hand. On any given beautiful day in Towson, you can find a number of tours going on around campus.
Great for these types of students Anyone. Towson is truly a diverse university.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning a lot while attending this school. The teachers that I have had care about us as students and are always open to help us understand information better. The class sizes are a good size and allow the teachers to focus on each student and their needs.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy being here because Towson has so many programs, events, and clubs that are available to each student. I live on campus so I have been able to fully experience many of the things Towson offers. The people I have met on campus are friendly and easy to talk to. I have been able to experience some of the clubs like Caribbean Association, Infinite Praise Ministries, Disciples on Campus, Club Volleyball, and many more. Towson has so many different clubs on campus that anyone can find something they can enjoy. There are also events when celebrities come, parties, concerts, and many other fun events on campus that people can attend and enjoy. It can be impossible to get bored around towson because even if a student doesn't have a car, they can ride a shuttle to the mall or even take a 15 minute walk and go there. There is a barnes and nobles, restaurants, and many more things right outside of campus.
Bang for the buck Towson has great food options that are not only burgers and fries, but healthy options. The food can get expensive but it definitely is worth the money. I lived in West Village my freshman year of college, The towers sophomore year, and Towson run my junior year. Each of these dorms are very spacious and great to live in.
Tips for prospective students Some tips for some prospective students are to live on campus their first year of college because they will meet so many people and gain new friendships. Also, make sure to get involved on campus by joining a few clubs. Sororities and Fraternities are not the only ways to get involved on campus. Another tip is to make sure not to get too overwhelmed by the different things going on and to make sure to stay focused on school.
Great for these types of students Towson is great for the type of student that wants to do well in school but also wants to have time where they can have fun and enjoy their time. For students who want to feel that their college experience is really cared for, Towson is a great university for them. Not only do the teachers care, but my experience with advisors have shown that they care that I do well in my college years.

Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful! There are always so many events and activities on campus, you'll have a hard time deciding what to choose.
Bang for the buck Towson is very affordable. I am an out of state student, and the expenses for this school is actually cheaper than the expenses of the schools in my state.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I started at a top acting school in another state. The beginning classes were taught by Masters candidates who had been English and Philosophy majors in college and had very little actual theater experience. The Theatre teachers at Towson are hard-core. They have lived the life, or are still working in the field, and they are training us to go out and start our careers. I am definitely learning a lot, and am slowly adapting to the strict attendance rules because the show must go on.
Am enjoying being here I never thought I would like Towson. I never even considered it when I was looking at schools the first time. I ended up at Towson because I waited until the very end to transfer from my old school. I have been very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy it here. The majority of people you talk to love this school, and the people I have spoken with who are not pleased did not research the school before they came here.
Bang for the buck Since Towson is an in-state school, it's cheaper for me than most other schools. I will say the financial aid at Towson is not as good as a lot of schools - my mother has started taking courses at another school and she gets more aid than I do. Towson just gives you loans, and usually not enough to pay for supplies, just for the basic tuition, housing and books. Soap, school supplies, laundry and any other expenses come from your mom or dad's pocket. My EFC is pretty low, and I don't even have a work study job.
Tips for prospective students I would definitely suggest you come to Towson, as it is an up and coming college. There is a great atmosphere here, and several of the majors here are expanding my leaps and bounds. You will have a great time no matter what your major, though.
However, parking is atrocious. You will pay out the nose for a parking permit that allows you to park far away -- when they don't have a special event and make you move your cars. The towing company up the road and the Towson police make lots of money. My mom was ticketed when we went to orientation, and she had her orientation sticker on the car, and my girlfriend got ticketed helping me move some stuff into the dorm, and tried to fight it was was basically told we don't care, pay your fine.Great for these types of students Very studious students will love Towson because there is no party life per se on campus. If you want to party you have to go to bars in Towson or Baltimore, and then you have to be 21. It's not like other college towns, most places you will be carded, and the bars don't need or want your business if you are under 21. However, many people live in apartments so there are a lot of private parties off campus. It's a non-smoking campus, so no one sits in their room smoking, most people just get in their cars and cruise around smoking.
Also it is great for people who want an small, urban campus instead of a sprawling traditional one. The campus itself is very small and you will never get lost or need to take a shuttle to get from one end to the other. After class, you can walk a mile to downtown Towson for shopping or sushi.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am currently a Sophmore at Towson University and I have absolutely enjoying my experience commuting to and from campus. In a sense I am learning tons saying I am double majoring in Economics & Electronic Media and Film and minoring in Meteorology. My three majors, though they are a crazy combination, are just a small example of the schedule flexibility and opportunity offered at Towson. The teachers are fantastic so long as you make sure you do some research about them before picking out your classes. As for the College of Business & Economics, students have close access to an impressive array of internship and professional experience opportunities in many business, governmental and nonprofit institutions located near campus and in the surrounding area. There are a of opportunities to say the least. As for the EMF department, The Department of Electronic Media and Film engages a new generation of enthusiastic artists, entertainers, and communicators to share media in bold and unconventional new ways. It is gaged to build communities and create partnerships that encourage artistic, social, and cultural diversity. We explore the potential of film, video, audio, and new media to expand the imagination. Though it is an incredibly competitive environment, honestly what is another college challenge?
Am enjoying being here Whether you are living on campus or commuting I would recommend either. I love the campus. It is not too big or too small. It is the perfect size campus in that you can walk from class to class under 5 minutes. Though I commute to campus it isn't entirely difficult to meet new people. The students are friendly everywhere you are on campus, it's a fantastic.
Bang for the buck Every college is different and it is really based on what type of college you are looking for. When I was looking at colleges I did not know what i was looking for in a college. However, Towson has provided me everything I was looking for. It has become my home away from home and a new frontier of information and friends. Towson University has definitely been a bang for my buck but in actuality if you plan things ahead of time you can possibly get enough scholarships or grants to make it even more worth it.
Tips for prospective students Study hard, do what your told, follow your syllabus's. The syllabus is really the key to your entire semester. It is an easy way to get an A in any class as long as you put the effort forth. I really suggest applying for a ton of scholarships, grants, and financial aid. Every bit of help financially is awesome.
Great for these types of students Towson is great for anyone who is looking for a college in order to be successful. Towson has a fantastic Liberal Arts / Business / Electronic Media and Film Programs. Towson really has something for everyone. Finally enjoy your college experience.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I love the classes at Towson. In high school, they make it seem like college professors have it out for the students and don't want them to succeed; so my first semester, I was petrified. I soon realized that I had no reason to worry. I loved my professors. They all had a clear passion for what they were teaching and definitely wanted to share that with the class. All of them were approachable and available. If you needed help, they'd make sure that you got it.
Am enjoying being here I'm a fairly shy person, so meeting people has always been an issue. However Towson is an incredibly friendly and social college. It's safe to say that there's always some sort of event going on whether it be with a club, organization, fraternities, sororities, the dining staff, or the residents in your building. I have a great R.A. that is always helping to get us involved and to have a good time at school. It is a school that loves to have fun.
Bang for the buck There are so many services offered by Towson. You get so much out of attending school here. The gym is an awesome perk. After visiting several colleges, Towson has to best gym. The library is massive with so many books and computers (both Macintosh and Windows). In the Center for the Arts, there are computer labs throughout the building loaded with Adobe software. In the University Union, there are tons of resources: the store, post office, Tiger Reels (the university's free movie rental service, and several more.
Tips for prospective students Definitely take a tour of the school and talk to the students. We're the ones that are going to give you a real opinion of the school. We won't just tell you what you want to hear. You get the truth when you talk to the students. Also make sure you contact someone that has a great deal of knowledge about the major that you intend to get a degree in.
Great for these types of students Towson is great for outgoing, social students that want to have fun but also want to get a good education.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students I would take a tour of the campus to see if you like the setting and the students. It's important when picking a college to explore the setting because you want to go to school with pride rather than despising your school. I would also talk with the faculties and staff and ask for more information about majors. If you are planning to stay on campus than I would talk to students who stayed on campus and what it was like for them.
Great for these types of students Personally I enjoy going to Towson. The setting is peaceful, nice, and quiet. The great thing is that it isn't boring because the setting surrounding Towson University is similar to the city, so you can easily hang out with friends and go out and relax just by walking down the street. You can easily study outside or inside the nice, clean, and quiet library. The students are nice, you have your mixtures. The faculties and professors are also nice so don't be afraid to ask questions. I think anyone can fit into Towson because you have half and half of everything. The most surprising fact about Towson is that majority of the student population are females not a lot of people are aware of that. The only downside to Towson is that parking is awful if you're not there early you'll be surprised by how many students commute. Other than that Towson is a really great school.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Towson University is a great school, and campus. It fills all of a students needs academically and socially. The tuition is fairly priced for the school.
Tips for prospective students Stay on-top of all your deadlines. As with anything, you as the student need to be responsible and know what is expected of you.
Academic Rigor Academically Towson challenges you, and keeps you moving.
Dorm Life Dorm life can range from sharing a dorm with one suite-mate to sharing a room with up to 4-suite mates. It's your typical dorm style rooms, nothing fancy, but you can make it home with your own touch!
Food and Dining You have a variety of places to eat on campus, from dining halls to Pizza Hut. Just try get a meal plan that meets your needs, you can always adjust it if you need to during the semester.
What to do for fun There are always lots of events going on campus, football games, tailgate parties, dorm fun....etc You can always catch a bus and you're not too far from the mall, shopping, and grocery stores.
Bang for the buck Towson is moderately priced, and for those who live on campus, your room/board/food and tuition cost are affordable.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Home Coming weekend is always a blast----the opening football game, and tailgate parties are lots of fun!
Great for these types of students Towson is great for all types of students and has a great School of Education for those wanting to major in teaching.
Greek Life You will see Greek life around campus---I am not involved personally, but looks like fun!
Campus Safety We have our own campus police, and they are always visible and keeping us safe.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have found the curriculum to be rather easy. Granid I am going to be a sophomore this year, I think that the courses are bound to be more difficult as I start taking my major credits!
Am enjoying being here I love the campus. My roommates are so awesome that it is like God picked them out for me, which I am sure He did!
Bang for the buck I know that Towson is considered a cheaper school, but I can't help but think that all schools must be extraordinarily over priced. It is cheaper for me to live in the apartments that are thirty feet from my current dorm. And all in all I think that tuition should be cheaper.
Tips for prospective students Connect with the students around you: on your dorm floor, your RA's. Find a group like CRU to get involved with! Oh and plan on taking more time than you would expect to get to class. There always seams to be detours because of the construction!
Great for these types of students I think that every kind of student should get along very well at Towson. That is of course unless you want to have a lame time. All joking aside be prepared to walk. There seams to always be detours on campus because of construction.

Categories Rating Comments Will enjoy being here I am so excited to start classes in the Fall! I already know quite a few of students going here, since it is a local school. I am close enough to come home on the weekends if I want to, and yet still far enough away from all the strict parental controls. The campus looks absolutely beautiful and I even happened to meet a couple people during my tour.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Economics Department at Towson is phenomenal. The professors are of the Austrian school of thought and encourage you to think for yourself.
Am enjoying being here I did not enjoy my freshman year at Towson. It is a party school with lots of bars down the road, but you have to be 21 to get in. However, after I got involved in an honor fraternity, I started having a wonderful time.
Tips for prospective students Get involved. College is what you make of it. You can either sit in your dorm watching marathons on your lap top, or you can get out there, join a club, and make friends.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Your learning experience will depend wholly on who your professors and adviser(s) are. The College of Business and Economics is overall 3/5. However, I would rate the Accounting department 4/5 because professors are helpful, really know their materials, and make sure to stay on target with the CPA/industry requirements. There are always exceptions, in which case, some professor can be quite unhelpful or apathetic.
The Career Center offers numerous venues for students to learn more about self and career assessment. Club and organizations have greatly helped in defining career goals, relationships, and network opportunities.Am enjoying being here If you engage yourself, you will get more out of your experience--as said with anything you do. Towson offers a variety of clubs, organizations, and programs students can use to gain networking opportunities and insight into their field of interest. TU also has many honor societies that will help boost your resume, a very help Career Center, and (most) staff and student-staff that are empathetic and encouraging!
Again, for commuters, parking is terrible. And you will run into problems during advising week, registration, and the occasional bad professor.Bang for the buck For the price I pay, I feel like the parking and facilities can be improved (while I'm still enrolled). TU is in the process of expanding--new dorms and educational buildings--which future students may enjoy. The fine art and Liberal Arts buildings do have very current equipments! But for students in the CBE program, you will have some complaints.
Tips for prospective students Towson offers small class sizes; usual student to faculty ratio is about 30:1. Most of the buildings are very close together, which makes for a (somewhat) easy trek between classes. It also offers helpful facilities for students to explore. As a business major, I would recommend Towson.
Overall, teachers are encouraging, the CBE is AACSB accredited, but facilities (like parking and computers) are horrible. When in doubt, check out the school for yourself.Great for these types of students Art majors, Accounting majors, Business majors, Elementary Education majors

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I don't exactly know because when I went on a tour I wasn't really shown the classrooms to get the feel of the environment. The campus is huge though and a lot of walking so you might get really sweaty.
Will enjoy being here When I went on a tour it was hot outside and they were doing all this construction so we had to take detours all around the campus and it was awful. The campus is so spread out that you can't get a close feel for everything. The different studies are on opposite sides of the campus. I've stopped looking at this school because I didn't find it comfortable. Oh some of the dorms don't have air conditioning either.
Bang for the buck Not really. You could do better.
Great for these types of students If you like to walk a lot or don't mind seeing strangers while you're on your way to class.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Like anything else in life you have to be open to learning in order to get all the knowledge you can out of any experience. I myself am an Acting Track student who is also planning to apply for an EMF (Electronic Media and Film) major. So far I can honestly say that I am learning more here than at any other establishment or workshop I have attended. The professors are all very welcoming and understanding who always welcome questions and comments. They love what they do, so learning from them is all the more enjoyable.
Am enjoying being here Since the start of my first semester I've been making friends and connections. The campus has a lot of construction going on right now, but otherwise walking around is lovely when the weather is nice.
Bang for the buck If you are looking to be involved then Towson offers multiple opportunities. I myself am in a frat, NSCS, the theatre department, and the tv station. Let's just say I'm a rather busy gal.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to walk, we have a large campus and quite a few hills. It's a pretty great workout. Take advantage of the campus activities, it's totally worth it to get involved.
Great for these types of students I think this school really caters to the more artistic student. The Center for the Arts is my favorite building, the people are phenomenal and the atmosphere is conducive to creative growth.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences You better like walking because the campus is huge. It is right in the city so it is close to everything you might want to do. The course work is not to hard, just a lot.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you check ratemyprofessor or with other students for the best teachers.
Learn some time management.
Get rain boots, when it rains it floods.
Be patient because Towson is no always punctual or on top of updating you.
Get to know your bouncers.Academic Rigor Most of the course have a lot of busy work. Recently employers have been tlling Towson graduates aren;t skilled enough and thus they are making the programs harder by adding more things to do.
Dorm Life West Village is nice but far from everything else. It is also the most expensive. All the close dorms are not so great, but decent enough. There is a lot of pretty grass to lay in around the dorms and if it is nice out everyone is outside laying out or playing games.
Food and Dining They have a lot of options which is nice. Dining halls are not the most delicious, but West Villages is the best. They're dining plans are nice and convenient. Make sure to spend all your extra meals for extra food for your room.
What to do for fun Go downtown or uptown. Downtown is the inner harbor with plenty to do. There are restaurants, clubs, and toursity things if you're not from here. Oh and the aquarium. Once every fall semester they have dollar day downtown where a lot of attractions are only a dollar! Uptown is where all the bars and shops are. You literaly walk up York Rd and you're there. The mall is huge and really nice.
Bang for the buck Towson is pretty cheap, but they are constantly building and adding things that make it look nice. They cost a lot of money and I would rather it look like it did than pay all the extra I am paying.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Monday nights is Favorite's, it is disgusting, but everyone will be there! Especially cheap if you're 21.
Great for these types of students People who have an active life and like to try new things. There is a ton to do and keep busy, but you also need to be able to handle it. People who are open-minded as well. Towson supports every race, religion, sex, interest, whatever. They are very excepting and have support for anyone who feels they need it.
Clubs and Activities We are always having activities and there are too many clubs to count. If you have an interest there is a group for you. There is always something going on. Read the daily email and you will get a glimpse of what is happening ever day on campus.
Greek Life Greek life is pretty big we have a good amount of soroities and fraternities. They are a grea way to meet people and stay involved.
Campus Safety We have cops everywhere! You can't walk into any dorm rooms without ID. The cops are really friendly and understanding.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Towson is a large, diverse university. It can be a little overwhelming at first but the students are generally friendly. The faculty are very caring and helpful.
Tips for prospective students 1. Invest in rain boots and umbrellas. Towson's campus is very large and its awful to walk to classes in the rain. 2. Try to get involved even if you are a commuter. Getting involved will help you make more friends and meet new people. 3. Don't procrastinate. Towson professors may give you a harder work load than what you are used to so it is important to keep up in your work so you don't fall behind and become stressed trying to catch up.
Academic Rigor I transferred to Towson from a private college. Towson is much more rigorous in my opinion. The professor's seem to challenge the students a bit more and assign more work than at my old school. However it is not unbearable. You still have plenty of time for socializing or working.
Dorm Life I'm a commuter but my friends that live on campus like it. Most of the dorms are doubled and two dorm rooms share one bathroom, which is nice. The apartments are also very nice and big. They are within walking distance of campus and classes. I highly recommend living on campus for the freedom and extra activities available to only your res building.
Food and Dining There seems to be a dining hall or restaurant everywhere on campus. in the university union there is Susquehanna lounge where you can get your Chickfila, P-tux which is one of the best places and gets crowded fast, and Paws is also in the union. Then theres the Den, Brickstreet Cafe, and a bunch of other places in the towers and West Village.
What to do for fun There is a lot to do for fun at Towson. If you aren't participating in one of the many activities going on at the school, theres plenty to do within walking distance or a short bus ride from the campus. If you are over 21 you might go to Bateman's which is a bar in the bottom of the math building, 7800 york rd. If you don't want to stay on campus you can go to Recher Theatre for a concert, Ice Lounge to smoke hookah, or Towson Town Center (a giant mall), all just a little ways up york rd. No matter what you're into you should have no problem finding something to do in Towson.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Tigerfest! Tigerfest is probably one of the biggest events of the school year. It's so big that even high schoolers and other non-Towosn students attend. Tigerfest is the big end of semester/ spring celebration. There is a concert every year by an A-list artist and there are carnival-like attractions.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs and if you cant find one that you like, you can start your own! It's very easy and the head of student activities can help you.
Greek Life The majority of students belong to sororities and fraternities. It's a great way to get involved in the school and be surrounded by people with common goals and interests.
Campus Safety The campus police are great. They are very friendly and quick to respond in emergencies.

Dorm Life I am not going to be living on campus but the dorms are nice I just prefer not to live with 17-18 year olds when I am 24.
Food and Dining Lost of options around. You will never go hungry
Bang for the buck With the Pell Grant and in-state tuition then it is manageable with a small loan

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Towson is a beautiful campus and is conveniently located within walking distance to the downtown Towson area. The Campus is clean and safe. There are alot of student activities to engage in during the school year. The campus is arranged so that it is an easy 10-minute walk to any class.
Tips for prospective students Apply for college early. Visit the campus and take a walking tour of the grounds and the downtown area. Talk to current students and research the various clubs at the campus.
Academic Rigor The class size is small for a large Campus. The smaller class size allows for more individual learning and assistance from your professors. The classes are hard, however, Professors and fellow students are always willing to assist you in discovering and understanding the subject matter.
Dorm Life The dorms are a mix of old and new. I personally like the old dorms. The older dorms have such a unique architectural history to them. The housing is arranged on the outter edge of the campus so that classes are easily accessible.
Food and Dining There are so many choices. Not only do they offer multiple types of meal plans, you are close to the downtown area and can visit the local resturants frequently.
What to do for fun There are a number of student groups to join as well as fraternities. The fraternity that I joined does a tremendous amount of fund raising for children's charities. Intramural sports is also available along with a student gym which includes an indoor pool.
Bang for the buck Towson is located in sort of an upscale neighborhood of Baltimore County. Transportation is available to the students at a minimal fee to go watch a Raven's Football game or an Orioles Baseball game, visit the Baltimore Inner Harbor and other local ammenities. I enjoy the smaller class sizes as I get more individualized attention, especially when there is an assignment that I am struggling with.
Great for these types of students Towson is a great school for students that are from a rural area and want the advantage of going to a large school without all of the disadvantages of living in a city atmosphere. Towson University is a tight knit community.
Clubs and Activities There are numerous clubs and activities no matter what your interests are. There is such a wide variety from student government to theatre and dance.
Greek Life There are several recognized national fraternities at Towson. There is a NO HAZING policy at Towson that is strictly enforced. My fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi, requires a certain GPA, study hall attendance, and a chance for lifetime friendships. We participate in numerous fund raisers for charity.
Campus Safety Towson University has a very low crime rate. Towson has a student text policy wherein any time there is a crime on campus or in the Towson area we receive a text alert. The campus is well lit and has placed emergency boxes in strategic locations throughout the campus grounds.

Food and Dining There's food at every turn and every single bite is absolutely delicious.
What to do for fun Clubs, sororities, fraternities, shopping at the Towson Town Centre.
Bang for the buck Tuition is great and they even offer institutional scholarships. If you can't get one of those - they've integrated their OWN scholarship seeker on their website.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There's a beach...but it's actually a lawn. On campus it's where the students lay in the grass and chill, get work done, and other things.
Great for these types of students Outgoing, enthusiastic, and open-minded.
Clubs and Activities Student Government, Ice Skating, Dance, and many others.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Towson is a great school filled with friendly people.
Tips for prospective students 1. The campus shuttle can be your best friend
2. Go to the gym atleast once a week after consuming campus foodAcademic Rigor Tip: Utilize RateMyProfessor.com ! I've heard a lot of people complain about their professors, but I've yet to have a really difficult professor since using that website.
Dorm Life If you are living on campus, live in West Village. I've been living here my entire freshman year and it is great. The best part is that we have our own private bathrooms. The only thing I would complain about is the distance from the main campus, but the shuttle is really consistent and is rarely late.
Food and Dining OMG! The food is GREAT! There's an Einstein Bagels, Jamba Juice, a grocery store, a few buffets, chick-Fila... there's just a great amount of variety when it comes to food here. You can go from the sushi bar to making your own tacos. (Keep active though... freshman 15 is real!)
What to do for fun Because there are soo many organizations on campus, there is alot of activities always going on/ I've been to cook outs, fashion shows, tie-dying activities... there's a lot to do you just have to find what interests you. As for weekends, getting to downtown Baltimore is a hassle and rather expensive when taking a cab. There are near-by bars though that cater to student 21+.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Towson really is a big school with a small school feel, my classes are never more than 10 min apart and I run into people I know all the time. All schools have parties but Towson also has great sports and recreational opportunities, outdoor excursions, an awesome gym with a rock wall and over 200 clubs and organizations to keep you involved and having a blast. Academically Towson strives to have great professors but as you might find college professors are nothing like your high school teachers and it is a big adjustment.
Tips for prospective students - Its never too early to look at prospective majors and their requirements, plan out your classes early
-Get involved early and visit as many clubs and activities that you are interested in and scale it down to a few you really enjoy and stick with those
-Look out for free things, if you pay attention to your e-mail there is always some kind of giveaway going onAcademic Rigor College classes are more difficult than college classes because the expectations for your work completely change. Especially in math classes I have found professors expect you to read the book and do a lot more independent learning and studying on your own time
Dorm Life Dorms are currently being updated so they are improving. Towson has been around a long time so some dorms may be smaller than you expect. Overall dorm life is good. Each dorm has its ups and downs. The new dorms are really nice in West Village. But even the older dorms offer great community.
Food and Dining You will never go hungry at Towson. There are so many different dining options, especially for lunch. Brick Street cafe is in the center of campus and usually takes new students a while to find but the have the best pizza on campus, as well as good soup and sandwich combos. Newell dining is awesome and the omlettes are so good I eat them almost everyday. So many choices even for vegetarian, vegan, or kosher eaters. Three all you can eat places, a Chic-fil-A you can use meals for, Jamba Juice, Einsteins Bagel, all right on campus. If you ever do get tired of on-campus food there are regular restaurant chains in walking distance.
Campus Safety I always feel safe on-campus. We have real police officers that patrol campus as well as blue lights everywhere. The e-mail service lets you know of any potential dangers.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Towson has a beautiful campus with even more improvements in the works. The food is decent and most of my professors so far have been great. There are so many options for majors and minors as well.
Tips for prospective students Make sure that you all of your paperwork done early enough and that you really listen to what you first-year adviser has to say. Be open to all types of people an opportunities. Have fun but also focus on your work because you have to remember that you're paying to go here and learn.
Academic Rigor All of my classes are decently challenging. I haven't had any classes where I could slack off and still pass. If you study and put in the time and effort you'll get good results.
Dorm Life At the beginning of the year I lived in overflow with 6 other girls and that was interesting but not terrible. I now have a permanent room and a decent roommate. The room is a little small but it is because of the layout of the building. Room size varies by building but they're livable.
Food and Dining The food here is pretty good. There's a chik-fila in one dining area and an area for burritos and quesadillas in another. I do think there should be more options for healthy food besides fruits, salads, and wraps.
What to do for fun The school is just a taxi ride away from the city where there are multiple clubs. A lot of great musical artist also come through the area so there are frequently shows to go to. There are also events on campus like game nights, open mic night, movie night, and a lot of other activities. There are quite of few students (upperclassmen) who live off campus and have parties. Some days there are events where you can get free things. There are also other school near by where you can go to events and parties.
Bang for the buck You get a good education from a not super expensive school, especially if you live in state.
Clubs and Activities There are so many types of clubs. We have club sports, intramural sports, and other groups and organizations on campus. These group host and sponsor a lot of events.
Greek Life There's a pretty good Greek presence on campus. Frats and sororities have events frequently. They wear their letters proudly and frequently around campus.
Campus Safety The campus police is pretty legit. They are on the scene if anything happens pretty quickly. There are emergency stations with the blue lights all over campus where you can call the police and get help if necessary. They will even escort you to your location if it's late and you don't want to walk alone.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences towson was probably one of the best decisions i've ever made. the campus is beautiful and you will really get the full college experience. as far as education is concerned, the professors know their stuff and you make a lot of good connections.
Tips for prospective students when you are looking for the right school, go with your gut feeling. if you want to go out of state, go. if you want to stay in-state, that's fine too. i went in-state and i am completely satisfied with my decision. go to the school that will make you happy as well as help you in the future.
Food and Dining the food is good compared to a lot of schools. there is a lot of variety, but just like with any school, campus food will get old quickly.
What to do for fun we are very close to baltimore harbor and baltimore city so there is plenty to do. there is a mall that is within 10 minutes walking distance and there are a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance as well.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences just like its students, towson is overall unique.
Tips for prospective students for future students i would always highly recommend to go to ratemyprofessor.com before registration for courses to take. it is very important to do so because it benefits you for what teachers are like and for your standards for an education and as an overall student.
Academic Rigor the towson faculty take each and every one of their students seriously. professors are very dedicated to their students success and they always provide support and help if needed. professors are also very proactive when it comes to their students experiences and offers information towards research and hands on opportunities.
Dorm Life the dorm life overall is a great experience. residential assistants really get involved with their floors that they take charge for. they always provide us with new information for upcoming events and news for the school. they really take the time to care and listen in times of stress or need. my ra (residential assistant) is very welcoming and friendly. she always does a good job when it comes to check up on the kids on our floor and she always takes the time to help or to talk. most of the residential halls are very nice and modern. everything is well kept for the most part. even in the older residential halls the structure and cleanliness is well maintained.
Food and Dining the food at towson is not the best cuisine. most of the food does not seem fresh and there are only certain places that have very good food. most of the good dining halls do not stay open to available hours that college kids would typically choose to eat at. the micro-marts can be more versatile with the food choices that are sold.
What to do for fun there is something always going on at towson. whether it's a party or a planned school event, it is very hard to be bored at towson. the college experience is really what a student makes it to be. the key through college is to be involved. be involved with a sport, a club, and even greek life. even if you don't want to be involved in any school activities go outside your comfort zone and just get out. get out to walk around or to go with your friends to the movies. there are so many things to do and towson university's overall placement is beneficial to anyone who attends. towson is close to other campuses, restaurants, towson mall, and baltimore harbor.
Greek Life greek life is rapidly growing as we speak. towson's greek life takes a big involvement when it comes to events for the school, fundraisers, and parties to go on the weekend.the greek community is always a part of big events at towson for example, homecoming. though there are no fraternity or sorority houses on campus, the greeks do the best they can to make greek life at towson as popular as they can.
Campus Safety even though a lot of crime occurs on the outskirts of campus towson is a very safe place. towson has it's on campus police a.k.a tupd which surround almost every corner of the university. security guards are at the doors of each resident hall from 12 am- about 6 or 7 am. towson also has emergency buttons that could call security or a tupd to escort you if you don't feel safe in a situation or if you need an escort to your class or building. there hasn't ever been a point where i have felt unsafe or threatened on towson campus.

Academic Rigor Some majors are harder then others which makes the academic rigor differ depending on the academic program you are enrolled in.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I transferred to Towson University as a junior from Bowie State University where I majored in Sociology. I am currently a Geology major and needless to say it was a major adjustment. Although I have struggled, the staff and my fellow students are always available. There is always help and the teachers are very knowledgeable.
Am enjoying being here 3 of the 4 years I have been enrolled in college I was a commuter student. My previous college was much smaller than Towson so it was a very tight community. Towson is a large school but it becomes much smaller when you get involved. There are tons of student organizations to become a part of. There is something for everyone. Even though I currently live off campus I love my campus!
Bang for the buck Towson is very fairly priced compared to many schools in the area, you get exactly what you pay for. It is important to familiarize yourself with what the school has to offer. For example, there is a gym that is open to everyone, a very nice gym. We even have a swimming pool. There is also our career center, they can help with anything from part-time employment to summer internships. All of this is included in what we pay for tuition.
Tips for prospective students Towson is a great community and it is in an area where there is so much to enjoy. Utilize all available resources and GET INVOLVED! Towson has so much to offer!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot For the most part, the professors are very helpful, and offer review sessions or office hours.
Am enjoying being here Not a lot to do for freshmen, because they aren't allowed to have cars on campus. Everyone who lives close to home leaves EVERY weekend. Campus seems dead on the weekends.
Bang for the buck Very expensive for out-of -state students.

Categories Rating Comments Am enjoying being here There are so many groups and different things going on, on campus no stop. I love it. There is never a dry day. Their groups for all kinds of interest. And if there is not a group for your interest, starting a group is pretty easy. It is a big school but not as big as most state schools so class sizes are not big and teachers are pretty good with being available for you.
Tips for prospective students The most important tip I could give, is to make sure you visit the school. I made the mistake of not visiting the school I attended my freshmen year before I accepted the acceptance and I ended up hating it and transferring and I am now at Towson. Do not just go on the campus tour, because you will talk to people who are programmed to say nothing but good things. Actually find real students that go there and get their prespective or maybe find groups for the school on Facebook. People are pretty open when it comes to talking about the college you attend. Most importantly make sure you are in love with that school! Do not just attend a school because your friend goes there or because they have a good program for your major. You will be paying for that school and attending their for atleast four years so you need to really be in love with it.
Great for these types of students Towson is great for any body really, and I would reccommed students that are LGBT and looking for a friendly community. They have an awesome support program there.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Some professors are amazing, teaching in a way thats clear to everyone and making it relevant to the real world. Other professors have unclear teaching methods, however they still provide invaluable information. All the professors are willing to help outside the classroom and easy to contact.
Am enjoying being here There's always something going on somewhere on campus, and it's never a mystery as to what, since all events are advertised everywhere. The events themselves come in many forms ranging from an all-day trip to NYC to bands playing at Paws. The campus is gorgeous in general, especially in the fall when all the leaves begin to change color or begin to fall all around.
Bang for the buck Definitely worth it. The social and academic parts of Towson give you so much that paying the amount that you do seems like a steal, whether you're from out-of-state to especially in-state.
Tips for prospective students Keep a planner, Definitely go to class, Use RateMyProfessor.com
Great for these types of students In-state especially

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am impressed with the education I received so far as a student. I am getting a good deal of information from my classes. I also have not had too many problems with professors since I do my work and listen closely. As for professors with foreign accents, if they say something I do not understand I just ask them to repeat it.
Am enjoying being here I had no idea that Towson University would be as fun of a campus as I did once I actually found out. They send you emails about activities and events they have on campus and they are actually pretty fun!
Bang for the buck You will gain a great deal from your Towson University experience. From the classroom to events and activities outside of campus you will learn a lot and have a great time doing it.
Tips for prospective students Please take the placement test seriously if you need to take it. I did not take it serious and had to take pre-tech classes and had to learn about things I already learned about in high school. Also study AT LEAST two days before an exam to make sure you know the material well enough to pass.
Great for these types of students Students that actually know how to balance fun and school work.

Categories Rating Comments Am enjoying being here I love it here. Towson has it's own community, things you thought only happened in movies are here. There's a movie theater down the street, plays, concerts, and even a mall only ten minutes away. The campus is huge but it's so small, all the buildings are pretty close to each other so when its cold outside you don't have to deal with it as much.
Bang for the buck Towson is the cheapest school the only expensive thing I would say is our books but you can purchase those from anywhere!! I recommend borrowing one from a friend or online site.
Tips for prospective students Towson is a close knit type of school so my advice would be make sure you join some organization at towson therefore your active with the campus life :)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Truth be told, college really isn't all about grades and the classes you take. It is more about making connections and finding out what you plan on doing with your life. Once that soul finding is complete, the classes and the grades work themselves out. At Towson, you will find the right environment to find yourself. You will meet professors that will help you succeed and, more importantly, you will discover what it is that you are best at and what it is that you would like to spend the rest of your life doing. You will learn a lot at Towson University, and you will have a fun time doing it.
Am enjoying being here This campus is beautiful. Period. The construction that has been taking place on Towson University since 2008 have turn this campus from a historical landmark to the cutting edge of new architectures and pleasant environments. IN the fall, the campus comes to life with the colors of the changing season. In the winter, Towson transforms to a cool snowy paradise. In the spring and summer, Towson comes to life with activities and new and interesting people to meet. There is never a dull moment on this campus!
Bang for the buck As a commuter, I pay less then $10,000 a year at Towson University. I save an enormous amount of money on school books, tuition costs, and other fees that would otherwise be overwhelming for a relatively broke college student. Towson is both reasonable in price and excellent in quality when you take into consideration the amount of education and proper attention that the professors of Towson University supply their students. You will not find better bang for your buck anywhere else in Maryland!
Tips for prospective students Have fun, stay safe, and make sure to show up to class on time! College can be a breeze as long as you balance fun with serious academic effort. Do as much as possible while on campus; participate in extra curricular activities and take classes that you will enjoy. Do not be afraid to meet new people and always remember to be yourself! If you do these things, you'll find that college with blow by and you will have grown into a better person for it! P.S. Remember to sign up for classes early, they fill up quick!
Great for these types of students That's the thing about Towson University; it's great for ALL kinds of students! It doesn't matter where you're from, or where you plan on going in life for that matter! You will find something that suits you perfectly at Towson University!
