    Am learning a lot

I learn a lot because of the variety of students.

    Am enjoying being here

I enjoy being here because I don't feel like I have to do certain things like party, smoke, and drink just to have a good time. With organizations such as the Baptist Campus Ministry, SGA, the Univeristy Activities Counsel, one does not have to be bored and can have good clean fun.

    Bang for the buck

This is ultimately a bang for the buck because not only do you get a good education, but compared to other schools this one is cheaper. The campus is also well kept.

    Tips for prospective students

Troy University is a school with good academics and an impressive staff. The professors try to get to know as many of their students as possible and expect the same effort in return. They are not difficult but expect the students to do their work. Walk into class with an attitude saying that you will make it and try your best instead of trying to float through your courses with minimal effort.

Great for these types of students

Troy University is great for students who like small towns, small campuses, and are approachable. If you are someone that don't usually like to speak when spoken to then don't go here because most people speak when you pass them and you don't want a bad impression.

    Tips for prospective students

Troy University is an extremely social school. The students at Troy University make sure that their peers have a fun college experience. There are FREE movie nights on campus which gives you an opportunity to meet new people. There are always different kinds of events to mingle with other students. The football games are far more exciting than people may realize. Troy has a wide variety of classes to choose from. The academics are NOT all easy. But they are a stepping stone for your future career. I love my University. So if you are coming to Troy be prepared to have tons of fun and a great learning experience.

Great for these types of students

If you love a school with a diverse range of people.
If you enjoy hard work and determination.

    Will enjoy being here

my brother and his friends are here so we will make our own fun

    Bang for the buck

ok since i got a lot of scholarships. tried shooting for the free ride one at 31 ACT score

    Tips for prospective students

check around campus for where your classes will be. try making your own map that you will remember. inside pool is much better than the outside one.

Great for these types of students

    Am learning a lot

I am a proud student of TROY University’s Graduate School Programs offered both on campus and/or through eTroy BlackBoard technology. I have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation of the kinds of opportunities my TROY University degree provides for me and my family.

    Am enjoying being here

Love the diversity of the campus. That's what attracted me the most. Students of all races and backgrounds coming together to achieve greatness.

    Bang for the buck

One of TROY’s greatest attributes is the affordable tuition cost and class sizes. FORBES Magazine & GetEducated.com has named TROY as 'Best Buys.' Professors are courteous, freindly, knowledgeable and have each student’s best interest at heart. They put you 1st in the equation and take a backseat to your success.

    Tips for prospective students

TROY offers many different degrees online and traditionally; from Associates to Bachelors, Master’s and now finishing with a Terminal Doctorate. The convenience of TROY’s distance learning is 2nd to none. The course work and course syllabus is exactly the same as it would be at TROY’s many brick-and-mortar locations throughout. Also, be sure to become a Lifetime Member of the Alumni Association. You wouldn't believe the benefits!

Great for these types of students

I love sports and the ensuing parties! Since joining the TROY family I have become a FANATIC of Trojan athletics. Last college season - although living in SC - I attended every TROY football game and had the time of my life! Although my guys lost some heart breakers, we put-up a very good fight against some pretty good football teams, and then went on to win our bowl game against Ohio U. Troy Baseball is also one to see. This year we almost made it to the Super Regionals before losing to Belmont in the 1st round. TROY University may be dubbed as a mid major university, inside beats the heart of a true Goliath. Come join me and finally realize The Future of Opportunities. See you class… Mark Brunner - eTroy Gard School...

Troy University has a new saga!

    Tips for prospective students

Get involved! There are so many activities, events, and groups/clubs to get involved with. I love going to free movie night and I also enjoy going to the BCM. Parking can get really bad! I suggest car-pooling if you want to live off campus or if you live close enough to walk. There is also a shuttle that goes around campus.

Great for these types of students

Troy University is great for international students. Troy University is also into ROTC students. Students at Troy University get extremely excited about Trojan football games as well!

    Am learning a lot

Most of the classrooms have between 20-25 students to one teacher. The professors try to get to know the students, which makes the environment a little more casual.

    Am enjoying being here

One of the things I like most about Troy University is that there's something for everyone to do. There are several organizations to join and there is almost always something to do on campus.

    Bang for the buck

Troy University is kind of cheap as far as tuition and fees go, but I think you get a still get a quality education.

    Tips for prospective students

Make sure you take a campus visit. I liked Troy from what I saw on their website, but my campus visit really convinced me that this was the school for me.

Troy University Montgomery has the best teachers and professors who are willing to work with you and care about your success.

    Am enjoying being here

This school has many opportunities and activities available to meet the desires and ambitions of students.

    Bang for the buck

The cost for education is very compatible with other schools and I believe I am getting my money's worth in education as well as experience.

    Tips for prospective students

The best school for the non-traditional student who has a life outside of school. Schedules are convenient and varied for those with families, jobs and busy lives. You can attend at your own pace with total support for reaching your goals and dreams.

Troy University is the best college that I have attended. The teachers genuinely care about the students and will do anything to help out. Also, the staff as a whole are very helpful.

    Tips for prospective students

Do not take the elevators. Stairs are faster and also very good exercise!

    Academic Rigor

Super intense but super easy if you pay attention to the lectures!

    Dorm Life

I do not live in the dorm so this does not apply to me.

    Food and Dining

The food in the cafeteria is so-so. Not a lot of healthy options.

    What to do for fun

There is a walking trail at the back of the campus that is good for strolling between classes.

    Bang for the buck

College is expensive but Troy University- Dothan campus makes it all worth it.

    Clubs and Activities

There is always something going on. No complaining from my end!

    Campus Safety

There is always someone around that will help with whatever is going on. I have personally gotten to know one of the member of the campus police and he is very friendly.

troy university has a nice campus. the teacher's at the school are willing to help. troy also offers academic help to anyone no matter the subject.

    Tips for prospective students

i would advise all prospective students to stay on top of deadlines, and also stay in contact with the school to make sure everything has or is processing smoothly.

    Academic Rigor

troy university is not a hard school if you study. a lot of students feel that coming to college is like high school but that is not that case. troy offers challenging classes not to hurt you, but to make sure that you have studied the material and get you ready for life outside of college.

    Dorm Life

at troy, i never stayed in the dorm. i had friends who did, so i would visit with them. troy has some really shabby looking dorms, and some really nice upscale apartment style ones. the freshman dorms on this campus really need to be remodeled. underclassmen sometimes get lucky and get one of the better looking dorms.

    Food and Dining

i stay off campus, but i dine in the cafe, and trojan center sometimes. off campus students are usually not required to buy meal plans, but for the past two years they are required to buy a two hundred dollar one. i didn't agree with this much because i rarely eat on campus, but now that i go on campus more, it is coming in handy. troy offers a big selection of foods from chinese cuisines to subway.

    What to do for fun

there is not a lot to do for fun in troy, alabama. when there are activities going on they are usually on campus and are held at night. they do however offer activities for each culture. troy has an activities council who is responsible for putting together these things. they recently got together with the local theater to offer one dollar movies to people who attended the university on each first and third wednesday of the month. i feel this is the activity that everyone attends the most.

troy university provides an affordable, enjoyable college experience to students of all walks of life. with its division one athletics and its prestigious international programs, troy offers great opportunities for social networking and future success. while troy is a public school, it still offers a great community feel where all the students and faculty are striving toward the common goal of preparation and inspiration.

    Tips for prospective students

i encourage everyone considering troy university to visit the school and start some conversations with some people on campus. it will give you a great feel for the loving community here. before making your decision to attend this university or any, make sure that your choice is efficient. troy offers a great opportunity to succeed in the real world; however, nobody can make the choice of what college to attend for you, and i can merely recommend troy based on my experiences.

    Academic Rigor

troy offers a wide variety of academic degrees; however, i am not able to speak for all of them. the math and science department is strenuous and challenging, and i would consider it competitive to most public school sin the nation.

    Dorm Life

there are a wide variety of options available to students and many of them are affordable and enjoyable.

    Food and Dining

with a brand new dining hall that rates among the biggest in the southeast, troy is not competitive with their food options. with a moe's and boar's head on campus along with a number of other options, finding food is not a problem.

    What to do for fun

troy has a great location that offers a short drive to montgomery or dothan, alabama, but also offers a number of attractions in the city itself. complete with a cinema, bowling, parks, and more troy won't leave you squirming with boredom.

    Bang for the buck

troy recently appeared in the forbes magazine for efficiency among american colleges and hold true to their rating. the tuition rates are much lower than surrounding public and private schools alike.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

troy offers one of the largest dining halls in the entire southeast.

Great for these types of students

athletes, greeks, and aspiring graduate students all have ample opportunities to excel here. however, any students interested in an international scope would greatly benefit in the troy university system because of its many connections around the globe.

    Clubs and Activities

troy offers a great variety for the greek-aspiring students as well as independent students that just want to be involved. the university activities council provides great volunteer activities and opportunities for entertainment like ice skating, and dollar movie night to name a few.

    Greek Life

troy offers a number of fraternities and sororities that are nationally accredited. they play a large role on campus and in the community.

    Campus Safety

due to its small town feel, troy keeps a pretty safe feel; however, it is a college campus, so trouble can be found if you look hard enough.

Troy University has given me the chance to extend my knowledge in many different fields of interest. The teachers try their hardest to keep each and every student on the right track and make sure they understand. I really enjoy being a student here at Troy University and have learned more in my first semester than I thought I would.

    Am enjoying being here

I am in love with Troy University. The campus is beautiful and just the right size for me. The people are friendly and I have gotten to know many people in and out of my classes. I am so glad that I decided to become part of the Trojan family!

    Bang for the buck

Troy University gave me a leadership scholarship, which has not only given me financial aid, but also given me the opportunity to be in the leadership course with many wonderful students and teachers. It is free for all students to enter any home sporting event, as long as the student has their Trojan ID card with them. The meal plan has helped me out tremendously because Troy has many places to eat on campus and being able to pay using my Trojan ID card has been a blessing.

    Tips for prospective students

Don't get your mind set on one specific school or major. When I first started applying for colleges, I dreamed of attending Auburn University and majoring in physical therapy; however, it worked out for the best for me to be at Troy University and majoring in Athletic Training. So don't beat down on yourself if you don't get exactly what you had in mind. Being at Troy has been an amazing experience and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Great for these types of students

Troy University is great for any student majoring in any field. It has many activities on campus as well as a International Student Center. Troy is open to anyone and this school can fit you with the perfect major and organization for you!

At Troy University, you can meet the whole world in one small campus. Troy also stands as one of the top schools in the Southeast according to reviews by sources such as Forbes Magazine and the Princeton Review. Here, you can receive a great education while expanding your horizon globally.

    Tips for prospective students

Troy is a relatively small town and there is not much going on in the area; at the same time, this could be good as it leads to less distractions from achieving educational goals. Unlike larger schools, you have a great chance to build relationships with fellow students and faculty alike.

    Academic Rigor

Troy has a great academic program that has been recognized by various sources including Forbes Magazine, U.S. News & World Report, Institute of International Education, and the Princeton Review to name a few. Troy also has a strong Study Abroad program partnering with various schools around the world.

    Dorm Life

Dorm Life can be nice depending on the dormitory you live, but overall dorm living is not that great. Some of the larger units are long due for renovations. The newer dorms however are very nice, but lack stoves to cook.
Recommendations: Clements Hall(co-ed), Pace Hall(co-ed), Trojan Village(co-ed), Shackelford Hall(co-ed), or Cowart Hall(female only)

    Food and Dining

Troy University recently opened a new, state of the art dining facility that includes a hibachi-style restaurant, Moe's Southwest Grill, and Boar's Head. The Trojan Center (student center) also features a food court which includes Einstein Bros. Bagels, SubConnection, Mein Bowl Asian Cuisine, A&W, Chick-fil-a Express, Marketplace, and hopefully soon-to-be-open Papa John's Pizza.

    What to do for fun

Fun is a relative term..haha.. Whether you enjoy meeting people and expanding your mind beyond your country's border, going out to one of the few bars in the area, or traveling to nearby beaches: Panama City Beach, FL or Destin, FL, Troy can guide you!

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Troy University has the Trojan Walk where anyone interested will meet with the marching band and football team in a march to the stadium prior to football games. During Homecoming, the school has a parade through the downtown area of Troy. Here, various campus organizations design floats to showcase. Also, Troy U. has a Spring Fling.

Great for these types of students

    Military students
    International (International-minded) students
    Non-traditional students
    Students interested in studying abroad

    Clubs and Activities

Troy offers many types of clubs and activities to join as diverse as the people you can meet on campus. You can also start your own group if you meet the necessary requirements.

    Greek Life

You will find many Greek organizations available at Troy complete with a Sorority Hill and Fraternity Row for their respective living quarters.

    Campus Safety

Troy's campus is generally safe. Regardless, I would recommend that if you do decide to walk the campus at night, please do not walk alone.

Troy University is a great college for anyone to attend in my personal opinion. They are very helpful here and I need all the help that I can get! It's amazing how far I have gotten with the help of this great university.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are considering this university to attend then you are on the right track, and Troy will help you make sure that that track leads to success. This university is that right choice for success.

    Academic Rigor

I give Troy's academic rigor at least four stars because they are an excellent school to attend!

    Dorm Life

I have not lived in the dorm at anytime so I couldn't tell you anything about it.

    Food and Dining

I have never eaten at Troy's site except for the snack machines they have on campus so I really couldn't tell you anything about it as well.

    What to do for fun

If you are attending the Fort Walton Beach site in Florida then The beach is certainly a place for fun, and Destin Commons is the place to shop.

Troy is a great place to go to college! The small community is GREAT for first-year university students. The education received at Troy is outstanding.

    Tips for prospective students

Troy is what you make of it. If you refuse to get involved and you refuse to keep an open mind, Troy may not be the best place for you. One of the best things about Troy is that there is ALWAYS a group for students to get out there and stay active!

    Academic Rigor

Troy's classes are just as rigorous as any other 4-year university program. Classes are not hard, but they do require effort. The education you receive at Troy is just as great as the education you will get at the University of Alabama, Auburn University, Florida State University and the University of Florida and any other bordering-state universities. Troy might even be better for students that are new to the college environment. Like me, students that are in need of great teachers that are willing to work with you and help you every step of the way thrive here at Troy University. There is not one time you will walk into the Trojan Center or the dining hall and find professors actually sitting down, enjoying a conversation with a student over a meal.

    Dorm Life

Again, Troy is what you make of it. All of the dorms on campus are fully capable of meeting any student's needs. Whether the student be assigned to Hamil Hall, Alumni Hall or Trojan Village, there are pros and cons to every dorm here at Troy. The RA's (Resident Assistants) are very well-prepared to help their residents to the best of their abilities. You will never have any questions to go unanswered. There are pros and cons to every college experience you will have at Troy, or anywhere for that matter. It is what you make of it.

    Food and Dining

Troy has a variety of food choices for all students on and off campus. The city of Troy has nearly every fast food restraunt you can find in the South-East region of the United States as well as a decent number of good-quality dining. The Trojan Center has a Market Place (cafeteria style food), Chick-Fil-A Express, A&W Burgers, SubConection and an Einstein Bros. Bagel Shop. The brand new Trojan Dining Hall (Saga) also has a variety of foods to choose from. Saga is fully equipped with a salad bar, sandwich bar, pizza and past bar, a cafeteria style bar as well as an all-American food bar with grilled cheese, hot dogs, burgers and fries/chips. Each bar has a new special every day and it is impossible to not find one place to eat. Saga also has a Magellan's (stir-fry) and a Moe's Southwest Grill upstairs. All of Saga's meals are deducted from each student's meal plan and all of the Trojan Center dining (and Moe's) requires flex dollars.

    What to do for fun

There are many organizations on campus to keep students active and involved in University activities ranging from Greek life, political organizations, sports and bible study groups. The city of Troy has a decent number of department stores and a Wal Mart, providing everything imaginable to keep dorm rooms and fridges fully stocked. Troy is also half-way between Montgomery and Dothan (about 45 minutes away from both): The perfect destination for weekend shopping trips and get-aways.

    Bang for the buck

Compared to every University in the South East, Troy is definitely the cheapest choice. The fact that Troy offers in-state tuition for a few select counties in Georgia and the Florida Panhandle is a definite two thumbs up. You cannot find any other university in the area for such a great deal. Troy also offers thousands of scholarship opportunities for every student.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Sorority Hill and Fraternity Row hold all of their parties and social gatherings after pep rallies on Thursday nights- mostly. The tradition held at Troy University's football games and pep rallies such as Trojan Walk and The Sound of the South (Marching Band) are just the start of the many traditions that continue to live on here at Troy.

Great for these types of students

Students that rely on a small, close-knit community (like me) really thrive here at Troy University. The atmosphere is clear and kind all around. Because the campus is generally small, it enables students to really get to know their professors and vice-versa (a major plus for students that tend to need teachers that will get on a one-on-one level). Though Troy is mostly small, the campus is rapidly growing and admissions continues to gain hundreds of students each year. There are many advances the school has taken on just in the past year: a new dining hall, a new sports arena that is to be completed by the fall of 2012, a brand new band room to be completed very soon, and a brand new back quad with a beautiful new fountain. Troy is growing more and more every year, and it is exciting to see the growing number of students that come to Troy.

    Clubs and Activities

As I mentioned before, Troy has millions of groups to chose from ranging from Greeks, sports teams, political groups and bible study groups. There is something for everyone here at Troy.

    Greek Life

The Greek chapters here at Troy are a major organizations many students at Troy love to take part in. The Greeks provide students great ways to get involved and meet new people and especially keep students showing their Trojan spirit.

    Campus Safety

Campus safety has increased a lot just in the past year. The minor occurances that have happened in the Spring of 2012 have kept both campus and city police on full alert at all times. There has been an addition of new lighting everywhere on campus and security guards everywhere you turn, especially at night. Things happen at every university, but the campus and city police are definitely on their toes and are determined to keep students away from harm's way at all cost.

I came to Troy University on a full-ride scholarship and have been satisfied with my overall experience here. Honestly, the classes I have experienced are of about average difficulty, however they will obviously continue to become more difficult as I progress into my major. Most of the staff is very knowledgeable and willing to go out of their way to help you, however (as with any school) there are some who are just plain out awful!

    Tips for prospective students

Definitely try to talk to a current student to figure out which teachers to take/not to take and get any and all advice you can from them. I live on campus and love it, so definitely try to live on campus your first year. Additionally, the best thing you can do at a small school like this is to get involved in any and everything you can (think Greek Life, SGA, or other similar on-campus groups).

    Academic Rigor

As previously stated, the classes I have encountered really are not that difficult to pass, you just have to actually attend class and do all the assigned work. Be sure to make friends with the teachers, most of them really like to see a student who is genuinely trying and will often give them a break if they are close to the next letter grade up. However, I have heard that once you get into your upper level classes you HAVE to be disciplined and put in much more work to receive a good grade (which is to be expected).

    Dorm Life

I lived on campus my first year of college and really enjoyed it. I came to Troy looking for the complete college experience and believe that living on campus is an integral part of that experience. I loved how close everything is and that I could walk anywhere from my dorm. Aside from the practicality of being on campus, I also enjoyed living near many other students as I made friends with ones that lived in my building. The Resident Assistants were all wonderful and as long as you're not blatantly disregarding the school's policies, you will have a wonderful time on campus.

    Food and Dining

Troy recently opened a new top-of-the-line buffet-style dining facility that offers a different daily meal, a salad bar, Italian style food, sandwiches and wraps, hibachi style food, and a dessert bar. Additionally, there is a Moe's, Boar's Head, Chic-Fil-A, A&W, Chinese, Einstein Brothers, Sub Connection, and a home-style type dining place. All of the food is of average to good quality (in my opinion) and I don't mind it one bit but I am a little disappointed in the lack of healthy options on campus past fruit and vegetables. Most of the foods are very unhealthy and don't help prevent the dreaded Freshman 15. Also, I tend to get a little burnt out on eating the same foods over and over again.

    What to do for fun

I am in a Greek organization so I spend much of my time with my sorority sisters. I STRONGLY advise anyone coming here who wants to get to know people to get involved in Greek life or other on-campus clubs as this will help you meet people. Through my sorority, we have swaps with fraternities, philanthropy events, and socials and functions. Also, many people go to the movies or all get together at a friend's house. There isn't much for the going out scene unless you want to go to a fraternity house but as long as you make friends you will always be able to find something to do here.

    Bang for the buck

I am at Troy University on the Millennium Scholarship (full tuition, room, and board) so I don't actually pay for my schooling. However, the school is a top notch school and is continuously growing in prestige. Tuition and housing is VERY reasonable and you will definitely be getting a great degree if you attend Troy.

    Clubs and Activities

There are over 125 on campus clubs that students can get involved in; the types of clubs range from Student Government Club to Medieval Club and anywhere in between. There really is a club for everyone and if a student can't seem to find one that exactly fits their cause, then it is a VERY simple process in creating one. I am in four clubs myself and would easily join more if I had the time to.

    Greek Life

I am involved in Greek life at Troy and couldn't be happier with my decision to go through rush. Being Greek at a small school like this really helps you to get to know everyone. All the fraternities/sororities are really close and I can walk through campus and stop and talk to half a dozen other Greeks that I know within 10 minutes. I HIGHLY encourage anyone coming to Troy to get involved in Greek life.
