Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors at UC Irvine really care about you. Although the lectures are quite large, professors always take plenty of their time for office hours and you can even schedule appointments with them if those hours don't fit your schedule. The class readings are relevant and although they are often long, you learn so much from each one!
Am enjoying being here A big part of my college experience has been the people that I meet. UCI has so many clubs to offer that it is easy to find people that you have things in common with. Besides from that, the RA's and CA's do a good job of trying to make everyone feel welcome.
Bang for the buck I received the Regent's Scholarship which really helps my parents out with tuition. There are plenty of other scholarships out there! But even without these scholarships, I feel like the quality of my education is well worth the money.
Tips for prospective students Come on a campus tour before committing to anything, of course, but apart from that I would recommend driving around Irvine before deciding. A lot of my friends complain that there isn't too much to do in Irvine and they didn't really think about it before they sent in their SIR. I don't mind, but since some people do, I think it is really beneficial to check out the surrounding area first.
Great for these types of students UCI isn't really a party school, so if you are expecting that type of environment, it probably isn't for you. The quiet atmosphere works great for students who are really serious about their academics. Also, if you like being around tons of Asians, this is the school for you! :)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Being that I have only been at UCI for one year so far, I feel that I am really learning a lot from my professors and from the students that I have surrounded myself with. No matter where you are at, it is the people you are around that you can learn from. UCI has a lot to offer when it comes to academia. There are numerous Nobel Prize winners, each having a building on campus named after them. Upon arriving at UCI, I took a campus tour and during this tour I knew that I was going to be learning something new every day from the students and from the faculty. For example, did you know that there are 1100+ trees planted in the center of our school (Aldrich Park)? I had no idea! Taking the time out of the day to notice things of beauty like the structure of our campus has made me realize how thankful I am to be learning something new every day. I never walk out of a class empty-handed and wishing I had actually learned something. Instead, I always look forward to the next day of classes, even if it becomes a struggle to wake up in the morning. UCI has so much to offer in the broad scope of learning that I cannot name everything, but everyone should get the opportunity to see for themselves. Check out a classroom and talk to a professor during office hours. Those are the times that you learn the most anyways! One-on-one conversations have opened my eyes to a real college experience of never-ending lessons and learning.
Am enjoying being here I enjoy going to school here even though I have to admit my first year was a difficult one. I felt I didn't know how to get myself into that large crown of over 20,000 students! I was worried at first that no matter what I did, there was no way to be noticed and no way of finding my own place. After some searching, I found my niche in two places: the Cross Cultural Center and the Public Health Association. I am determined now more than ever that I will be able to find more places that will make UCI my home. I enjoy it more now than I did before because I know now that I am not alone in trying to find my footing. The park, which I mentioned before, called Aldrich Park is located in the heart of UCI and without it, I would not have had some of the best conversations with other students and friends! It is so beautiful and relaxing. I also enjoy the fact that there are so many different places to eat and the Student Center is always bustling with people! You don't have to be bored because you can even meet up with friends and form study groups at one of our three amazing libraries. Even on the weekends there are things to do like drive 8 minutes to the beach and hang out, or go to Newport and have a nice dinner. There is even clubbing in Costa Mesa! Everything is fairly convenient. Also, there is a University Town Center that has a Trader Joe's, Yogurtland, Cha, and Golden Spoon! There are a ton of places to eat and hang out.
Bang for the buck I think school in general is expensive, but living in an area that is serene, safe, and close to the beach, I definitely think it has its bang for its buck. After visiting other campuses, I realize how much UCI has to offer its students! I love how convenient everything is and that there is not too much traffic. Sure, it may be a little pricey at times but in this economy, what isn't?! It's college in general that is difficult to pay for, so out of all of the the UCs I definitely like UCI!
Tips for prospective students My number one tip is to work hard in high school and to keep that up all the way through until high school is over. There is never a time for slacking off or letting yourself get behind. Working hard will prepare you for college. I had a difficult time with this for a while in my first year of college, but I had to remind myself to stay on task and really stay focused. In a college like UCI, there are so many students that it's a good idea to always try to be ahead because once you fall behind you stay behind. There are so many students working hard that you cannot let yourself down. I also suggest looking into colleges by doing a college search and seeing what your top choices are. Are you looking for a place that is bursting at the seems with stuff to do and is not focused on academics? Or are you looking for a place that is safe and maybe close to the beach? Those things are important to take into account because you not only want to take into account the academia of your school but also the extracurricular stuff and the location of the college! For me, UCI is located in a great area and I love that about it. The beach is so close, and that helps me when I need to clear my mind and get through a rough day.
Great for these types of students This school is great for a student looking for a top-notch education. Yes, you can still have fun but it's also good to be studious. There are a lot of Bio Sci Majors at UCI and there are a lot of Engineering Majors, but that doesn't mean the English or Drama Major cannot get his/her moneys worth at this school. It is a very well-rounded school that not many people know about so take the time to research it. Our sports teams are excellent with some of the top in the nation, yet no one seems to know these things.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I was expecting to be challenged academically, but instead I found that classes here were not as hard as expected. The classes are easy to get through, but are very interesting.
Am enjoying being here The students here can be hard to get along with at times, but if you are independent and can make friends with just about anyone from any walk of life, then you should be fine. One of the sad things about Irvine is the lack of school spirit. It is essentially non-existent, and that is not an exaggeration.
Tips for prospective students The strong points of this school are the weather, location, and layout of the campus. However, the people here can be quite snobby (it is in the middle of the O.C) and the classes aren't as challenging as I expected. The campus itself is great, and the faculty and staff are INCREDIBLY knowledgeable! My advice is to come to the campus and take a tour, and really evaluate whether you would fit in with a crowd of rich kids who are not always out to get an education.
Great for these types of students Students who don't do much on the weekends or who aren't looking to party, students who want to challenge themselves academically (but not TOO much), students who like working out (we have an amazing gym), students who are independent, students who love the beach (we are minutes from it), students who love shopping (lots of high-end malls near buy), and students with a car (you will need one if you plan to have any fun on campus), Asian (they make up a majority)

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students UC Irvine is quickly becoming one of the most competitive of the UC campuses because it can afford to be; with a new, state of the art Medical Center, a prestigious nursing program, and world-class facilities, UC Irvine offers only the best for its students. Prospective students should not expect UC Irvine to be a back-up school; competitive grades, volunteering, and extracurricular activities are a must.
Great for these types of students Aspiring Medical Students (large, competitive school of medicine, majority of bio classes relate to medicine, proximity to Medical Center)
Art History Students (small class of Art History; staff is composed of highly-successful, respected professors)Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The lower-division classes offered at UC Irvine are fairly challenging and give a broad view of topics important for the education of successful college students. The best part of these classes are the professors, as many of them are devoted to their work and research and are passionate about sharing it with undergraduates.
Am enjoying being here The campus is extremely wonderful. From the weather to the people, the best way to describe UC Irvine is humbly pleasant. Ring Road is a great place to see friends or make new ones. Additionally naps in Aldrich park cannot be topped.
Bang for the buck With tuition and other fees rising, it has become increasingly difficult to pay for an education at UC Irvine, however the quality of the education from a University of California school is unrivaled for its price.
Tips for prospective students Go to the Student Parent Orientation Program, and get involved quickly. Many opportunities are available to those who start pursuing their goals quickly when they arrive on campus!
Great for these types of students Students who want a great education, and don't need to party every other day of the week.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have learned so much since I've been here; the classes are quite challenging but the things you learn can also be very interesting and fun! A majority of the professors here are friendly and they care about you; they are always willing to help and they are also good lecturers, which is super important for a class since the majority of things you learn come from lectures. Some professors may not be as good at teaching the material, but they are few and the minority. Plus if you need extra help, theres always two huge libraries, free tutors, as well as a great tutoring program called LARC; students can do really well with all these resources.
Am enjoying being here UCI is filled with diverse groups of people, anyone can get along with anyone here, and the numerous clubs and organizations are open and friendly. The clubs and communities in UCI make the time here a much more enjoyable and enriching experience. The dorms are fun, and the food is great! Plus theres plenty of popular places to eat and shop and enjoy inside and outside of the campus.
Bang for the buck Attending college is expensive, especially with increasing tuition, but the quality of education to recieve at UCI is quite good. The amount of opportunities to join clubs or organizations is plentiful, and there are always fun events going on. There is a vast amount of resources available to all students, that will help in researching, tutoring, building resumes, searching for internships, ect. The community at UCI is also quite open, and you're bound to get to know quite a lot of people. The campus is beautiful, and compact so that its easy to walk to all of your classes; plus you can't beat the mild socal weather!
Tips for prospective students Its a great school, but parking is expensive! If you don't need a car, I recommend you leave it at home. There are plenty of shuttles and alternative modes of transportation you can take that will save you a ton of money; parking permits are hundreds of dollars every quarter and UCI parking lots are always congested, making that permit worth even less since you might not even be able to find a spot!
Great for these types of students Any student who loves the mild weather, wants classes to be close together, loves a beautiful campus, wants a quality education and good professors, loves to go to events and enjoys the socal area. Really good for pre med students too, since UCI has a competitive medical school and great guidance from counselors

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are some inspirational professors and TAs here who go above and beyond the class material to help students learn about life. College prepares us for the real world and not only am I learning material relevant to that, but I am also learning how to apply it later on.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus. There is a huge park right in the middle which is great for breaks between classes. There are a lot of study places on campus and so it never gets too loud. People are friendly and there is a lot to be involved with including Greek Life, volunteer opportunities, clubs, etc.
Bang for the buck I would say yes, you will definitely get your money's worth. There's a lot to do and a lot of things are included with fees. The ARC (our campus gym) is great and included. Study rooms, rooms for meetings on campus, concerts like Shocktoberfest and Reggaefest are also free!
Tips for prospective students Look into the department and get acquainted with professors right away. Start freshman year when you are in the larger classes so they remember you in the upper divisions - it's all about those letters of rec!
Great for these types of students UCI is great for outgoing students or students who are looking to get involved in things like Greek Life, ASUCI, our volunteering. Because of Irvine's proximity to the corporate headquarters of many companies, students looking to network and find good job opportunities are close to the source.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot UCI has great resources, but only if you use them. My first quarter, I went through only focused on my GPA and when my grades weren't what I expected, I made it my goal to actually learn for the sake of learning and try to better myself as a person. Since then, it's been great. The teachers are there to help you, but only if you ask them. It really is what you make of it. But then again, there will always be teachers that are jerks. I had one professor who cared a lot about his students and another who honestly could care less. Just remember that there is a huge diversity in professors, but always read their reviews on www.ratemyprofessors.com to get an idea of what they'll be like.
Am enjoying being here Again, it is what you make of it. Being a commuter myself, it makes it a bit more difficult to meet people, but if you put yourself out there and try to meet people, they are generally receptive and you'll find some friends. To be honest though, I don't love UCI and i applied to transfer to UCLA. Not to say that there's anything wrong with UCI, but it just doesn't feel like I belong here all that much. Also, I like the UCLA campus and surrounding area a lot more and the people seem more social and lively. A lot of people will love it here, just visit and know what you're getting yourself into.
Bang for the buck Not much to say here, all UC's have the same tuition, so it's relatively the same.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus and get an unofficial tour if you can, just by one of your friends. Ask around to really get a feel of what it's like. If at all possible, I highly recommend to live in a dorm. It's much easier to meet people and it's a lot more social. Make sure to get involved and join lots of clubs. And don't forget to be on top of your studying :)
Great for these types of students Well, if you like open, suburbian areas, then UCI is for you. At the center of campus is a huge park, very green, trees everywhere, which is imo a waste of space, but that's just my personal opinion. The area isn't too lively, Irvine is a little boring in my opinion, but it's just typical suburbia. Just from observing people around campus, they all seem to keep to themselves and aren't the most social in the world. But there are thousands of people, you'll always be able to find someone with a common interest.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have just finished my first quarter as a freshman, out of the four professors that I had during fall quarter, one strongly conveyed the love he had for the subject he was teaching. The other three professors lacked passion and enthusiasm, which was quite disappointing. I'm hoping that I will have more professors like my Calculus professor, whose love for math practically oozed out of the words that would come out of his mouth during his lectures.
Am enjoying being here I love UC Irvine because it is located in a great city. Irvine itself is a quite place, but it's near other cities that hold lots of fun and exciting things to do. For example, Irvine is approximately 20 minutes away from Disneyland, so if you're ever looking for something to do during the weekends, you and your friends can drive to the happiest place on earth. You can have the best of both worlds when you're living in Irvine: the crazy chaotic city life and the quite suburban life.
Bang for the buck The cost of the tuition is definitely worth it. The campus is safe and it's a nice place to live in, they have an amazing education system so I definitely feel it's worth the expense.
Tips for prospective students Study hard in high school and try to get at least a 3.7 GPA.
Participate in as many extracurricular activities as you can.
Try and score at least an 1850 in your SATs.Great for these types of students Students who wish to major in Biological Sciences

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot An abundance of classes with top quality teachers. I haven't had a class that was taught by a horrible teacher or was completely useless. As with every university, don't slack off, stay on top of your game and try to figure out what you want to do so you don't waste your time on classes that don't help you reach that goal!
Am enjoying being here I love the campus, easy to walk to all your classes and not too hard to find your way around. Weather's not too shabby here either, close to Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. Plenty of shopping centers around like Spectrum, Fashion Island, and South Coast Plaza. Not as lively as UCLA (of course) and we don't have a Frat Row, but there's a perfect variety of things to do without tempting you to forget about school.
Bang for the buck Not happy about the 10% increase in tuition and there's talk of raising it even more. All in all, it's still worth the money as opposed to many private schools and state schools.
Tips for prospective students Take as many AP classes as you can and take the AP tests, you'll get credit for them and registration windows are based on credit amount- so every little bit counts! Start looking at GE classes because many of them will cover more then one category.
Great for these types of students Work-hard play-hard types. It is stereotypically Asian dominated, so if you have a problem with Asians, probably not a good choice. Plenty of options when it comes to clubs and other on-campus activities. As with every other college, you get what you put in. If you don't put yourself out there, don't get involved, and don't go to class, you're going to be an unhappy student with bad grades- simple as that.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes at UCI are pretty large in size, there were roughly 400 students enrolled in my first lecture class of my freshman year. However UCI does a good job of breaking down those class sizes into smaller discussion classes, which provide a more intimate learning environment. The lectures are run by professors, however the discussions are run by Teacher's Assistants, mostly graduate students who have a degree in the area they are teaching. The Professors and TAs are extremely helpful, most are quick to answer emails, and there are also office hours that you can attend if you have any questions. In addition to that, there are also LARC classes that you can take specific to the classes you are enrolled in. They are run by undergraduate students who have already taken and passed the class. Overall there is plenty of opportunity to learn a lot in your classes and help is also available to anyone who needs it.
Am enjoying being here The campus is gorgeous, who wouldn't love a park in the middle of campus to nap in while between classes. The people are all friendly, and helpful. The Student/Parent Orientation Program, also known as SPOP is a great way to meet people and make friends before classes start. One of the most common questions during your freshman year is, What SPOP were you?
Irvine is completely planned city, and its less than ten minutes from the nearest beach. There are plenty of places to go around Irvine. Los Angeles is close enough to take day trips to, as well as Long Beach, Huntington Beach, and San Diego.Bang for the buck I'm not going to lie, UCI is expensive because it is a university. But the school is definitely worth the cost. You're getting a university level education, and the opportunities that you will have are worth it. You're surrounded by people who care about their education and after graduation you'll have the advantage over people who went to a state college or a community college. The dorms that you live in during your freshman year are some of the best dorms I've seen. And the gym, called the ARC, is a great place to work out, with top-quality equipment and a newly finished pool. Definitely worth the money paid.
Tips for prospective students I'd advise anyone to go to the anteater involvement fair during welcome week. Get involved in on-campus activities. Attend sporting events, and don't be afraid to try new things. We have a fantastic volleyball team, baseball team, and our other teams aren't bad either. You want to enjoy your first year of college, make lots of friends, and get involved. There's research labs on campus that you can apply for if you're interested in research. There are lots of fraternities and sororities you can join, and hundreds of other clubs for all types of interests.
Great for these types of students Anyone interested in research, who wants a large campus, who likes Asians (because there are a lot of them), who likes sunny/nice weather all year around, and loves the beach should consider attending UCI.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a third-year, I've been learning exponentially since freshman year. The faculty at this school not only encourage learning the material for classes, but help you develop research and communication skills along the way.
Am enjoying being here This campus wasn't my first choice, but now I wouldn't like being anywhere else. The campus is beautiful, clean, safe, and is full of diverse students. I love the plethora of opportunities for one to become involved on campus and/or meet lifelong friends.
Bang for the buck Despite the statewide raise in tuition, the UC system is still worth it. The faculty really cares about the standards of our education and works with the students through these difficult times.
Tips for prospective students Definitely stay in the dorms for your first year. No matter what personality you have, be it shy or really enthusiastic, this is your gateway to meet really great people and some of your best friends. College is what you make it!
Great for these types of students This campus is perfect for students who like a more quiet and relaxed campus, but have the choice to go to the beach, a variety of malls, parks, or nightlife nearby (easier if you have, or know someone with a car though). We have a gorgeous park at the heart of our campus where concerts and other events take place. Basically it is a suburban campus which is perfect for studying and getting good grades, but also for a lot of fun. However, if you want constant activity, lots of people walking around everywhere and at all times of night, this might not be the school for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I feel like I am learning more and more everyday. The professors are very well educated and continually challenging their students. They are also all involved in some form of research along with their teaching. So there are numerous opportunities for students to work alongside their professors. I had an English teacher my first quarter that really set me up to be motivated and confident throughout my college career. I felt he truly cared about me doing well and was always available to answer questions. Every professor and teaching assistant has a set time for Office Hours. That is a time when students can come in, ask questions, and simply get to know their professors better. This is especially important since some of the lectures have more than 400 students in them. I am really focused on the classes involved with my major, but also there are GE courses that we have to take in order to get a good overall education. The GE courses offered are very good and comprehensive, but they are also understanding in the fact that the classes cover the basics of the subject. I also enjoy the competition between all of the other students here at UCI. Everyone is trying their hardest and studying the most they can. This mood throughout the campus motivates me to try even harder in my classes in order to come out on top. Students always form study groups or tutoring sessions to help one another out as well. Everyone is out to give advice or exchange textbooks with friends who are taking classes they have already taken. I feel like the main focus at UCI is to get a great comprehensive education and all the students here can agree.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love UCI. This was my number one pick for schools, not only because it offered my double major, but also because it has the perfect balance I was looking for. I wanted a school where I could be involved, social, and make a lot of friends. However, I also wanted a school that could challenge me academically. UCI is exactly what I was looking for. I have already made friends that I know will last a lifetime and I feel like I have known them for way longer than just a year. I would also recommend anyone to go Greek and join a Fraternity or Sorority. The Greek community here at UCI is wonderful for meeting new people and joining a sisterhood or brotherhood that will always be there to support you. Greek Life is not all about the social aspect of college. I got my first on campus job through one of the girls in my sorority, and many girls after they graduate get full time jobs through alumni sisters as well. Having a bunch of people there to help when you need it is very comforting. Also, being able to go out on a weekend for a break from the stresses of school is great. UCI is right next to Newport Beach. The beach and pier are very close, and there are also great shopping locations. Everything you need is right by Irvine campus which makes life very convenient. There is always enough housing and there are affordable options that won't make you pay a fortune. Irvine is the perfect place for anyone looking for an overall amazing college experience. I encourage anyone and everyone to apply
Bang for the buck With these latest tuition increases, yes, the University of California is quite expensive. However, you are going to find those price increases almost anywhere you go nowadays. So I think everyone should apply and not make money the deciding factor. The UCI financial aid office is very helpful and always willing to make appointments and go over your account. I made many visits there my first quarter to go over some last minute loan adjustments. They are also very sympathetic and show you great places to apply for scholarships. Yes, still after all of that, school is still expensive and sometimes thinking about the payments is stressful, but I firmly believe that it will be worth it. The saying, you can't put a price on education. is absolutely true. The experience I am having and the knowledge I am receiving is absolutely wonderful. I would never trade it in or change my mind.
Tips for prospective students Tips for students:
1. Don't hold back. Put yourself out there to meet new people. Join a club or organization. We have over 500 different clubs and sports to get involved with. There is something out there for everybody
2. Study. Like I said earlier, there is a lot of competition here at Irvine, so it is relatively easy to fall behind. Staying on top of things and finding the right study buddies is very important.
3. If you have a car, and can afford to keep it on campus, do it. I can't afford to have a car with me at Irvine, but it would make life quite a lot easier. Irvine is a pretty spread out area, so not everything is walking distance. If you can't afford it either, that is still fine. Irvine has a great bus system shuttling all day. However, a car would still be more convenient.
4. Be responsible. College life can be quite hectic, especially with incoming freshman. So get your priorities straight, and don't let the freedom of college get the best of you. I've seen many kids lose their motivation that they had in High School just because they didn't have their parents breathing down their necks anymore. Just make good decisions.Great for these types of students UCI is great for anyone and everyone. We are a very VERY diverse school with every color, shape and size of a person. Also, there is a variety of interests and you are bound to find at least one person who enjoys the same things you do. All it takes is you and 5 other people to form an official club at UCI. Whether you are quiet and reserved, or loud and outgoing, UCI doesn't discriminate. You are guaranteed to fit in somewhere.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am glad that I actually joined CSSA CAMP Summer Science Academy, which I highly recommend for those who are of a Chicano/Latino, African-American, Native American, or Pacific Islander and must be majoring in Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Information and Computer Sciences, or Applied Ecology under Social Ecology. If this isn’t possible, then at least attend SPOP, which is for everyone. Both of these are in the summer and they will definitely increase your chances of making new friends and getting into the environment of UCI. In the beginning of my year, I saw many lonely people, so it is best to meet friends and feel comfortable before you officially come to UCI.
You will also be surprised at how many people there are in classrooms. For my Biology Lecture class, I practically had more than 400 students, so don’t really expect to get personal attention from your professor, unless you meet with them during office hours. So if you’re having trouble with your classes, you can stop by and ask for assistance. They are always willing to help out a student since mostly no one goes to there office hours. This gives the students that do go, a better opportunity to learn.
It is also best to take LARC, which is a tutoring program, and only free if you are eligible for the waiver. I took Chemistry tutoring and it really affected my performance in the class. You should consider tutoring, even if you took AP or Honor classes in high school, you’re going to see that you are going to need it. The Midterms and Finals are hard, but if you study and work harder than you had in high school, I assure you that you will do great at UCI.Am enjoying being here I really am enjoying UCI because it is a very beautiful campus. You either get to live in Middle Earth which is more of a community while Mesa Court is more of an outdoors type of living situation. In my opinion, you should choose to dorm, you will meet a lot of new people with great and interesting personalities. If you’re still not sure where you want to live, get a campus tour or even just go on the Irvine website.
Practically you can find anything you want on campus. You can workout at the ARC or Helm’s Deep, go eat with your meal plan (you’ll have a meal plan consisting of 100, 125, and 165 meals about) at Pippins, Mesa Court, or Brandywine, or go to eat at Starbucks, Wendy’s, Panda Express, or even visit the libraries. You won’t really need a car, unless you’re ready to pay for the permit to be parking.
What I also enjoy, is that there are several clubs you can be a part of. I have become a part of two medicine clubs, I have done volunteer service, and I have already gotten a leadership position in one of the clubs. You will enjoy many of these things, but don’t worry if you’re not sure which club you want to join, Welcome Week will help you with which club you want to join. You don’t have to rush things, its best to get adjusted to the life of a university, but when you get the chance, you should think of joining a club. I really recommend not to join fraternities or sororities but its up to you on how you want to experience your college life.Bang for the buck In my opinion, there are schools that are much more expensive than this school. I think it’s almost about $29,000. Since you’re searching for scholarships, you probably don’t have the money that is needed to get into college. Well I never worked when I was in high school, and I still am not working. My parents did not have the money to pay for my college tuition and they didn’t really have a good income.
So practically once I was accepted to Irvine. They ended up paying most of my tuition. They paid like about $24,000. I did apply though, for FASFA and Cal Grants, so it’s a good thing not to forget to do that. The rest of the money is being paid by the scholarships I got. So keep trying because I didn’t get my scholarships until almost the end of my Senior year. So I really do think you will get a bang for your buck if you come to Irvine because it worked out good for me.
If you still have trouble, you can always do work study. You’ll practically be working while you’re in school to pay off for your college, and I’m sure by then you’ll have scholarships or even hopefully some of your tuition paid off by the college. If you really want to apply here, it’s worth it. Don’t think it’s going to be cheap at another college. The cheapest it can get is at a community college, but if you worked hard and you are willing to challenge yourself and not let any obstacles get in your way, then you will find the money you need to pay off for UCI.Tips for prospective students Mainly my tips are: get a tour of UCI and visit their website to see if you like the school, live on campus because you will meet a lot of people and it will be more convenient when you are studying, send paperwork on time for when you are applying for Irvine and financial aid, do a summer programs for Irvine (don’t take classes during the
summer, because you won’t really meet people, my best suggestion is to do CAMP, if not, do SPOP), go to Welcome Week, but join a club if you have the time for it (maybe 1 or 2), go to office hours for professors, try to apply for LARC, if you are taking a biology class, you should look for free tutoring in this subject, because there is, check your EEE (for class quizzes, scores, evaluations, surveys and emails from professors), check your Webmail (email from the school or professors), and check your ZotAccount (to know if you owe any money to the school) .
Also, I highly recommend you not to miss class, and be early to class, because seats will be taken quickly or you will come into class with classes already started and you sitting on the stairs. Keep a schedule of your day that you can see everyday to know when you have classes, and a planner will help a lot (to remember midterms and finals).
Lastly tips for which teachers to take. I have only taken one quarter here at UCI, but these teachers are really good. For Biology 93, you should take O’Dowd and Warrior. For Chemistry 1A you should take Borovik and for Precalculus (Math 1B) you should take Mrs. Famiglietti. If you are still curious on which classes you need to take, you can always check ratemyprofessor.com.Great for these types of students This school is more studious than party. So you have to be serious here, but it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun on your own. This school is not mostly for Asians, yes there are plenty of them, but anyone has the same opportunity to apply here. UCI is well known for its biology classes. It is a very competitive school in the Biology major, so best if you are trying to apply for medical school, and I guess you can say in the Engineering also, but anybody is welcomed to apply if there major is found in the school. The weather is more of a beach type weather, since it is near the beach, usually windy, but its still beautiful. I personally did it for the distance, and so if you want to live close to home and you live near Irvine, this can also be an option. Basically, the people are friendly, peaceful (not all), and overall it becomes a pleasure to be living and being a part of the campus of UC Irvine.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The lectures here are pretty good, and I highly recommend attending them. Although some professors post their Powerpoint presentations or notes online, I recommend that you use them only to review or if you miss a class. The professors tend to go into more detail about what's on their slides in class that you would miss from the slides. They also have office hours, along with the TA's, so it's pretty easy to find someone to help you with a problem at a good time. If not, you could always schedule an appointment or email them.
Am enjoying being here The people here are nice, albeit a bit distant so it's hard to make friends unless you dorm here. UCI is more of a commuter school because there are a lot of people living near the campus, so they either go home for the weekend or commute. I highly recommend that you join a club or organization since it would be the best way to make friends if you don't dorm here. Also, you meet a lot of great people at SPOP, which is the orientation, so remember to keep in touch with those people!
Bang for the buck Tuition is a bit expensive but it IS a UC, so that's expected. I don't think the financial aid is that great but hey, it's a bad economy we're having now. Get close to some professors or advisors and they might be able to send you some scholarship opportunities.
Tips for prospective students Do well in high school and whatever happens, do NOT GET ANY GRADES LOWER THAN A C! I have a friend that got accepted to UCI, but had a D in a class in his final semester and they rescinded acceptance just a few weeks before he was supposed to attend orientation. Join a lot of sports and clubs at school, work on your personal statement way beforehand, and you'll be good to go.
Great for these types of students It's great for the type that want to live close enough to home to go home every weekend or so, and those that appreciate a quiet campus on the weekends.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I spent my years of high school studying at a French one and Coming to UCI was a big change specially because I had never taken an English class but UCI helps you find the right class for your level. With the GE's they help the students explore other areas besides your major so they are sure that in the end of the 4 years they do what they really like and are able to defend themselves in other fields just in case. UCI has great counselors if you are lost, great professors that care about their students, a great variety of classes and a really good system to help students in the case they have difficulties.
Am enjoying being here I really am enjoying the University. It is wonderfully located: near the beach, LA and San Diego, it has a great weather the whole year, you meat a lot of new people -students, Ra's, professors- and has a great campus around a park so I really like it. Also they have a lot of clubs and extracurricular activities. It is definitely a really social University!
Bang for the buck Well with the 32% increase it is getting a little expensive for a public University but it is a really good research University with enough mediums to help you learn what you are interested in and the quality is worth the money. Also they have a lot of Scholarships to apply for and not only GPA based so it can be a great relief for people who cannot afford College. I know people going to UCI that only pay $2000 all include per quarter. Although it is really expensive for out-of-state students and I would not recommend it for them.
Tips for prospective students Go visit the campus before hand to see if you like the way it is during the academic year, it is not the same to visit it during the summer and during fall! Also a lot of my friends took summer courses before coming and they really enjoyed it, made a lot of friends and had advantage towards the other freshman.
Great for these types of students UCI is a University for people who work hard. There are parties too of course but classes can be hard and students need to be willing to sometimes work a lot. There are a lot of clubs so there is a place for everyone. It is also a great place for bio majors, but I also find that their School of Humanities is pretty good.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot In UCI, I really learned a lot because there are a lot of opportunity to help you fully understand your courses. There are, of course, your professors who are really nice and if you do not understand you can always go to their office hours and ask for help. There are also TA which are like your second teacher and if you do not understand your professors(because of accents or way of explaining), you can go to your TA and ask them for help. However, if you can not ask your TA you can always go to the Free tutoring sessions. Besides academics, you also learn a lot about socializing and networking. Also you learn that you must put yourself out there to figure out answers to questions and to find opportunities.
Am enjoying being here Beside the fact that UCI is very far away from home, UCI has a very nice environment. Everyone is very friendly and kind and everyone helps each other. It is always sunny and warm. Also there are various places that you can find a quiet place to study. :D
Bang for the buck Personally, I do not receive any Aid of whatsoever. My parents pay for thing from Housing and tuition to books and food.
Tips for prospective students Check out the area see if it is a place for you. When you go to college, get involved, met new people, and drive around Irvine. HOWEVER, do not forget your classes! Because 10 weeks go by Quick! So don't procrastinate :] Networking is just as important as academic learning,
Great for these types of students This college is great for those that are interested in research because this college is specifically aimed toward research and all the professors are part of a research project.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I hear the professors are great, especially when it comes to office hours, internships, and getting students involved in research.
Will enjoy being here I personally love the suburban area, the shopping center right across the street, and the mall not too far away. It's near the city, but not in it. LA is not too far away, the beach is 8 minutes away as well. There is so much night life too I hear.
Bang for the buck Not sure yet.
Tips for prospective students Def. go on campus and take a tour (official/unofficial). Probably not a good school to bring your car to, everything's pretty close. Be sure to check out housing, not many options, but the options are pretty good. Some dorms here are larger than standard college dorms.
Great for these types of students Party types. A lot of learning goes on but there is also a ton of night life just waiting fot them.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Great on campus experience in the Global Cultures and Literary Journalism programs. Professors are invested in the personal and academic growth of their students. Very nice campus and great location.
Tips for prospective students Speak up, ask questions, go to office hours and get to know your professors. Doing so will enrich your academic experience. If you go to lecture, sit in the back, and don't engage in your academic career, then you will be bored.
Academic Rigor Classes were always challenging but manageable. You must be willing to think out of the box and be open to constructive criticism from your professors and TA's. Tutoring available at the LARC is very helpful.
Dorm Life Very nice campus and gorgeous apartment style dorms at Puerta del Sol, Vista del Campo, and Vista del Norte. Convenient and close to campus, and shuttle service available to affordable apartments in Newport Beach
Food and Dining Good food on campus, can get a bit pricey though. In-N-Out burger across from campus is delicious, cheap, and always packed.
What to do for fun Close to great shopping (South Coast Plaza, Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum, etc) and less than 5 miles from the beach, where there are lots of bars, restaurants and clubs. Lots of fun events and big name musical artists on campus. Great restaurants close by as well, and close enough to go out in LA for a fun night out, or to San Diego or Vegas for weekend trips.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The mascot is an anteater
Clubs and Activities Lots of ways to get involved on campus and something for everybody.
Campus Safety Security escort services will walk you to and from class, the library, your car, dorm etc late at night if you need it. Campus police is pretty quick to respond. Zotlink warns of any emergencies on campus via text message and gives frequent updates.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UCI is one of the best Universities in Southern California. We might not have the prestige but sooner rather than later the students who attended UCI will make the School shine. It offers many opportunities for students to embrace themselves as individuals.
Tips for prospective students Make sure you guys attend office hours. Professors are there to help you, but you must be enthusiastic about going to them. They are very approachable and are willing to help you if you take the time to look for them and approach them.
Academic Rigor UCI is part of the University of California Regents System, and it is supposed to provide rigorous curriculum to challenge the students. If you were admitted as an Anteater, you can do it, you just need to focus and dedicated to school.
Dorm Life People are friendly, outgoing, etc. You do meet your true friends as a freshmen in the dormitories. The experience of meeting different people, being able to form study groups, to have a work out buddy is amazing.
Food and Dining Freshmen 15 is bound to happen, but the food is great, especially as the dinning commons, Pippins. They have a variety of food, and very delicious too. The Student Center offers a variety of food too. I had my first experience eating a shrimp burrito from Wahoos. Food is delicious.
What to do for fun When ever there is a need to have some fun and take a break from books, besides going to Newport Beach to relax, you can also go to the Irvine Spectrum, or Fashion Island, or South Coast plaza to shop. They also have great restaurants such as Dave and Busters, CPK, etc. On the other hand, there is Disneyland which is a couple minutes away from UCI. The Irvine Great park offers a hot air ballon ride around orange county. ITS FREE!! If you want to stay local, Irvine Lanes can always be fun, or even the Pub at the UCI student Center.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UC Irvine is situated in the cleanest city in Southern California.
UC Irvine is giving me the opportunity to have a start with school during the summer. I will give them a 10 if I apply fast enough to be in Summer Bridge Program.Tips for prospective students If you want to enroll in one of the best universities, UC Irvine is an amazing choice. Be careful to do everything they need before the deadlines. Be sure also to participate and support your future school.
Academic Rigor UC Irvine is a very rigorous university, where you have to take classes and do research on them, and makes you see things differently; into another perspective.
Dorm Life I still don't know how it's like to be in a dorm at UC Irvine, but I will know really soon. I've taken a look at their pictures they have online to see how the dorms look like and they look really beautiful, where you can share with another student that may be really similar to you.
Food and Dining I've never visited UC Irvine, but I've been to UCLA. The food must be delicious.
What to do for fun Go around and go to the gym, or any sport field you like. You can go watch a performance or any other artistic event. You can also go to Los Angeles and go to stores, concerts, or buy food.

It provides great opportunities for students to experience a variety of different things ranging from student body to Greek life to various clubs. It is a great school to go if you are looking to grow as a person and broaden your horizons.
Tips for prospective students The only tip I have for prospective students is to come with an open mind as there is much to learn if you are willing to overcome the norm in which you are used to.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UC Irvine is a very welcoming and friendly campus. Students are all-around happy and helpful to others.
Tips for prospective students Before coming here take a campus tour! It is amazing to see the campus for the first time, and you also don't want to get lost on your first day of class.
Academic Rigor Some of the classes I have taken at UCI have been very challenging. I feel like it forces you into a reality check and allow you to see what you need to change in order to keep up with the rigor demanded of you. Personally, I had trouble with the biology program and the courses it required. It's a very impacted program and become increasingly selective as students start getting into the upper division courses. But then again it all depends on the strengths you hold as a student and whether or not you are interested in the subjects you are studying. I would much rather take courses and pursue a major in which I find the material interesting, than courses in which I have no interest in and am at risk of failing.
Dorm Life I lived in Middle Earth my first year and I have to say that it was an amazing experience. The RA's and staff there really try to put on events and programs to integrate students into the campus life. It is exciting and awesome meeting people whom you will live for the entire year. It's very weird at first because you are sharing a room with a complete stranger who is also there for the same reasons as yourself. However, you will form bonds with a lot of these people. The stranger down the hall may become your best friend. Be open minded when meeting people in your dorms, as they may be from different cities, states or countries. They might also come from backgrounds different from yours, but you can learn a lot of interesting things this way.
Food and Dining Living in Middle Earth, our designated dining hall was Pippin Commons. I enjoyed the food there and it honestly is very convenient. You start to miss the food once you live off campus and have to cook for yourself. You will eventually miss home cooked meals, but its definitely worth the meal plan.
What to do for fun There isn't much you can do, which is why you have to get creative and be open minded. Take a stroll in Aldrich park or plan a picnic. Go to eat somewhere late at night, like Cha for Tea which is open until 1am. It's pretty cool seeing so many people there so late at night. Sometimes your living community will have activities going on for the residents and those are always fun, because its another opportunity for you to get to know your hallmates and bond with one another.
Bang for the buck Tuition just keeps rising and the prices are going up all over the state but it's starting to get ridiculous. There is no need for any student to be paying almost $30,000 for one year at a university. I feel like I am getting the most out of my education but the price is just outrageous.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Our campus is a circle! Ring Road is the main road or trail on campus and since it goes in a circle you should not get lost. Walk down this path and you will eventually end up in the same place. We also have an undie run every year, but I don't know too much about it since I have not participated. We also have our annual events such as Shocktoberfest which takes place during fall quarter and it is essentially a concert put on by out student body. These events are really fun and I suggest that you attend these at least once during the time you're here. You should try to attend as many events as possible your first year just so you can make it memorable!
Clubs and Activities There are a variety of clubs and organizations on campus, ranging from academic interest groups to ethnic and religious groups. Since these clubs are so diverse and different, as an incoming student you are very likely to find one that you like or fit into. I'm actually part of a Latino organization on campus and it was great to know that there were a group of people interested in the same things as myself.
Greek Life There are many greek organizations on campus ranging from multicultural to academic. Many students on campus decide to become part of these groups and usually they find one which suits there interests.
Campus Safety I perceive our campus as very safe. We have an escort program which will escort any students to their apartment or dorm at late hours of the night to ensure they make it there safely.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences As a current student at the University of California Irvine, I have learned so much, and continue learning more everyday. It is a safe university, and all of my professors are interested in what they are teaching. There are many different clubs available, and you have the opportunity to meet new people.
Tips for prospective students Get involved with clubs on campus they are a great way to meet people. Do your readings ahead of time, and ask your professors questions in class or during office hours. For the most part all professors are glad to have questions asked.
Academic Rigor Do your work, study and you will be fine!
Dorm Life As a freshmen I lived in the dorms and I got to meet so many great people. I would recommend getting a single room if you want to avoid any problems in the future with a roommate.
Food and Dining Food could be better, but overall not the worst food.
What to do for fun If you have a car, then you're set, but if you do not then there really is not much to do on campus or nearby.

Tips for prospective students I highly recommend living in a dorm during your first year to experience college life and to meet new friends.
Academic Rigor Academically, the classes are not too hard if you put a lot of effort into it. Also, learn to eventually distribute the hard and easy classes each quarter.
Dorm Life I didn't dorm which is one thing I regret.
Food and Dining There are a few nice food place on campus and around the area.
What to do for fun I usually hang out with my friends at the UCI Arc gym. It is a nice gym and during summer, Kobe Bryant shows up really early there.
Bang for the buck Base on the tuition fees and the education you obtained from there, I would say you get a lot for what you pay for.
Clubs and Activities You should definitely try to join all the different clubs to see where you fit in. Also, you make a lot of new friends by doing so.
Campus Safety Its a pretty safe campus. If you are studying late at night and need to head to the parking, you can always request a security personnel to walk with you.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UCI was not a very good school. The classes are extremely short and you have to teach yourself most of the material. The tuition and residency rules are ridiculous and unfair.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to read all of the fine print before attending. You may be classified as a nonresident even though by all regards you are a resident. Also make sure that you have internet access because most of the schoolwork is online.
Academic Rigor UCI does not offer enough time and support for one to really be successful in his or her career. They do not show any interest in helping you succeed.
Dorm Life I did not live on campus.
Food and Dining The only part I liked about attending UCI was the wide variety of food places they offered on campus.
What to do for fun They set up stands along the entrance of the school, selling food and clothes.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences uc irvine is a very modern school. the campus layout is simple, it is circular, and it will take you a maximum of ten minutes to get from one side of campus to the other. it is a very beautiful campus.
Tips for prospective students do not be afraid to speak to professors! many are approachable, and you never know when you will need them in the future! for example, letter of recommendations!
Academic Rigor it is a very challenging school, can be very competitive in biology and chemistry classes. but if you focus and study, you will do just fine!
Dorm Life i cannot say much for dorm life since i am a commuter.
Food and Dining there is a place called university town center right across the street. it has many restaurants in the plaza, and pretty much a good variety of food.
What to do for fun i like to play golf at the driving range just about a couple miles from campus. the arc (school gym) is a very neat facility. it was recently built, and i love to work out there!

Tips for prospective students learn more about the financial aspects of college, and how the meal plan works for freshmen. you should also understand how housing payments work as well as how to navigate around campus.
Academic Rigor it really depends on which classes you are taking and with whom. some classes are graded on a bell curve which is helpful for some students, and threatening for others.
Dorm Life dorms are clean, and your hallmates are great to be around. be aware of the wildlife that surrounds the dorms, and make sure to not disturb them. some dorms are louder than others past quiet hours, but there are ways to take care of that.

What to do for fun for freshmen dorms, there are rec centers which have activities such as pool/billiards and ping pong. there are sports arenas all over campus, and there is a pub for students over the age of 21.
Bang for the buck not to complain about the united states economy, but everything is always expensive no matter where you are.
Clubs and Activities everyone encourages you get involved, the only problem is the amount of money that must be spent on dues. i would advise picking only the clubs you will truly commit your time to and are related to your field of interest.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences uc irvine is one of the most welcoming colleges that i have visited. the campus is beautiful and very clean. the professors are amazing and truly care about what they are teaching you.
Tips for prospective students if you are planning to attend here and its possible you should dorm. it was one of the most amazing experiences that i've had. i am an introvert by nature and i was able to find a group of friends that i could spend time with and hang out with. there is a niche at uci for everyone.
Academic Rigor uci does not fall short on academic rigor. they recruit the best and expect you to be your best. the teachers do challenge you but they are also available to help you if you need it. the ta's are also very helpful with the rigorous curriculum.
Dorm Life the dorm life at uci is for everyone, not just students that are extroverted and enjoy parties. i am reserved by nature and was nervous about dorming but i found that it was not what i expected it to be. the students that i lived with were welcoming and respectful of my lifestyle and included me in all their activities and tried to get me involved.
Food and Dining the dining hall food at uci is at best ok but that's part of the whole dorming experience! you definitely won't go hungry eating at the dining halls but you'll be glad to go home to your mom's cooking.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences it's a fun, academic-driven school with a great atmosphere. this school has such a great community. it's impossible to not feel at home here.
Tips for prospective students get over your generalizations about this school. you have to experience this school to truly understand how amazing it actually is. don't feel like this school isn't good enough for you because students here are a lot smarter than you think.
Academic Rigor this school is one of the best in the uc system so the academics here are really tough. it's not so difficult, but their is quite a heavy workload.
Dorm Life the dorms have a really unique community environment. it really depends on what hall you are in because it really determines your experience of living in a dorm. overall, the facilities are great and most of the buildings are renovated.
Food and Dining the food in the dining halls is decent. it's a lot better at pippin than mesa commons. the other food on campus is great though.
What to do for fun you can hang out at the beach, go to the arc (gym), or shop/watch movies at the spectrum.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i am so so so glad that i chose to attend uc irvine. the atmosphere here is so wonderful and nice, and everyone here is so considerate and friendly. i am having so much fun getting to know all of my new friends, doing well in all my classes (which i love), and having the time of my life!
Tips for prospective students make sure you do not let your parents take control of your application. this schools loves students who are independent and like to learn to do things on their own.
Academic Rigor as far as academics are concerned, it all depends on the type of classes you take and the amount of units. right now i am taking 20 units (the maximum allowed) and although the work load is high, i do not feel as swamped as i thought i would.
Dorm Life i live in oakenshield, middle earth, and i love my dorm. no doubt about. i have the best r.a. ever and i feel like the friends i am making now are going to be in my life for the rest of my life. they are all just so unique and different, and since none of us knew each other before, we are all comfortable just being ourselves! we have so much fun just hanging out with each other in our common room and other places, and i don't know where i would be without them.
Food and Dining although the dinning commons have pretty good food, it is easy to get tired of them after a while. there are a lot of other eating facilities and restaurants on and off campus, however, for everyone to enjoy and try. some of my favorite are cha for tea, the asian noodle cafe, starbucks, and subway.
What to do for fun there are many opportunities for fun both on and off campus. my favorites so far are exploring the underground tunnels and going to the beach. middle earth, and i'm sure mesa court as well, sponsors a lot of evens for everyone. some recent ones have been a 50's themed dance, whale watching, a talent show, and later this year we will be making a video for youtube advertising how great our school is!
Clubs and Activities there are hundreds of clubs on campus of all kinds. if you are looking for a specific type of club, odds are that perfect one is here at uci!
Greek Life there are a lot of greek organizations here on campus. a lot of them seem fun and entertaining but they do not pressure any one to join.
Campus Safety irvine is the safest city in at least california, and i'm sure uc irvine is one the safest campuses. i always feel safe here wherever i go and whoever i am with.

Tips for prospective students Get involved with many different activities your freshman year. Try lots of new things as the campus offers over 400 extracurricular clubs and you may discover a new passion. Go to the sporting events and support your Anteaters. It's a lot of fun!
Academic Rigor Our school is rated just under Ivy League and you have to be a competitive student to get the GPA you want.
Dorm Life I loved my performing arts dorm! I was put with people who share the same interests I have and I was able to find my best friend.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors that I encountered as a biological sciences major were pretty helpful in teaching the material. For biology, the material was presented through powerpoints and the instructor would elaborate on the material. Some professors were better than others, seeking to explain the material further while other professors dismissed questions that were asked. Although I studied a lot on my own, the professors provided an outline for my study. Just attending the lectures is really not enough to do well unless you’ve already learned the material before. Some professors place more importance in their lectures by not providing any powerpoint. Once again, it really depends on the professor you choose and how much you are willing to put into your studying. If you find the best combination between studying yourself and attending lectures, then doing well should not be a problem.
Am enjoying being here I don’t particularly love being at this school, but I don’t absolutely hate it either. Coming from northern California, southern California is quite different. Having no car in Irvine is actually a big problem as well since most activities are in inner LA. The city Irvine itself is operated by a big company so many of the groceries and items are more expensive. Yes, there are many clubs to join and you may find ones you like but for many, the clubs may not be for you. It depends on how much you want to be part of something. Some people go for a sorority or frat while others turn to their hallmates and become close to their hallmates. If you want to have fun, you’ll find it, but if you want to study you’ll easily be able to do that too.
Bang for the buck I think the tuition and expensive for attending UC Irvine is quite pricey. Where does all the money go? It’s gone to maintenance of the school. You pay for your own textbooks and if you want extra tutoring through their LARC (Learning and Academic Resource Center) program, you pay an extra $100 per quarter, per class. I really wish tuition was cheaper. With the university located in an expensive city, everything is expensive. Although the campus is clean and well-maintained, it is expensive to attend; especially if you do not get financial aid.
Tips for prospective students Try talking to anyone you know who currently goes to UCI. Taking a tour around campus also really helps and gives you an idea if the school is right for you. In addition, for those who accept UCI as their college, try everything. It's a very common tip, trying everything really helps you in finding out what you are truly passionate about.
Great for these types of students The school is great for everyone. You just have to find your niche. There's a place for everyone.

Bang for the buck University of California schools are very expensive, but the education is worth it.
Tips for prospective students Amazing school but you need to be willing to work hard. The teachers lecture but it's up to the student to make the most of it. If you don't work hard, it is easy to fail.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are really knowledgeable, they enjoy their class, and are fun. You might once in a while get a boring, lack luster professor, but just try to look out for the professors that are worth your time and interest you.
Am enjoying being here Well, UCI isn't the most diverse campus as far as I am concerned. It is a bit awkward coming from a place where Hispanics are a majority to being a minority. It is hard to settle in at first, but later you get used to it. Also, UCI is not a party school...AT ALL. You have to find the fun, especially if you are housing and no car.
Bang for the buck Well all colleges are expensive overall. Loans are probably necessary, but it is still manageable.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus first !!! So you can get the feel of it.
Great for these types of students Apply for scholarships, at least try. After you see the bills and expenses, you'll see why. Go to ratemyprofessors.com, so you can get a feel of the professors and which one you like best.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Humanities really push you to understand the material and develop your critical thinking skills (Philosophy major).
The Physical Sciences go really fast and it's mostly up to you how you study and learn. Be careful or you can get left behind! (Biology major)Am enjoying being here The city is not really interesting or has much of a nightlight; definitely not a party school. There are many clubs though and the classes are really good.
Bang for the buck Books are super expensive!! And buyback doesn't give you much at all. They change the editions for books almost every year to make sure kids buy new editions and pay more. Its a public school so tuition is better than private but with budget cuts and increases, beware. No one is safe.
Tips for prospective students Join clubs, go out and see what UCI has to offer! Check into the classes before you buy the books, sometimes they're optional. DORM YOUR FIRST YEAR!!! Its amazing.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are about 28,000 students at this University and the professors here make it feel like 100. All of the professors are reachable and very informative. My classes here prepare me for a career in chemical engineering while allowing me to continue with graduate school if I wish to.
Am enjoying being here I am a 4th year chemical engineering student at UCI and I spend about 15 hours a day on campus, and there is no place I would rather be. There are 24 hour computer labs that are a quiet place to study. The pub is a great place to grab a beer with your professor after class. The zot zone is always a great place to relax and grab a game of pool. Students are encouraged to participate with the countless organizations on campus.
Bang for the buck The UC system is one of the best Universities in the world. UC Irvine has the same engineering school as UCLA, so you know it is top of the line. As long as Yudof keeps his hands out of our pockets, it is one of the best value universities.
Tips for prospective students If you are bored, even for one second at UC Irvine, you are doing it all wrong. UCI is a place for fun, learning, and involvement. http://www.uci.edu/features/2011/09/feature_bucketlist_110926.php

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot If you pick the right professors, I believe it'll make UCI a much better experience and much easier as well. I'm an undeclared major going into Public Health and the Biology and Chemistry teachers really know what they're doing. They both love what they're teaching so it makes the lectures more exciting. Many of the professors here have been teaching for a long time so I feel that the education here is just as beneficial than an Ivy.
Am enjoying being here The people in UCI are very friendly and want to get to know new people. Get plugged in a club and just try to meet as many people as you can. Get to know your hallmates if you're dorming! It'll make your freshman college experience much more fun.
Bang for the buck I personally feel that tuition is just expensive in general, but I feel that I am getting what I'm paying for. Free gym membership at the Anteater Recreational Center (ARC), free shuttle service around campus, and there's a University Town Center right across the campus! There is so much to do around Irvine; you just need to make the effort to find opportunities.
Tips for prospective students College life is much different than high school in both the social and academic level. In most classes, your grade is based on your midterm and final. You'll have so much more free time than you did in high school so use it wisely! On the social aspect, you have to go out of your way to meet people versus in high school, it was much easier. However, just take risks and enjoy college as much as you can
Great for these types of students UCI is predominantly Asian and if you don't mind the culture shock, you'll be fine. Located in Southern California and the weather is always nice so if you like soCal weather, then Irvine is for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are all very intelligent and willing to help any student with just about anything. They seem to have an deep interest in helping their students to succeed.
Am enjoying being here I have definitely enjoyed my time so far at UC Irvine. The people are very friendly, respectful and hard working. Campus can get a little boring on the weekends seeing as many residents go home but it is not too bad.
Bang for the buck Being a state school, financial aid is virtually non existent. I have no doubt that I am receiving a world class education from great professors, but it can get a little expensive. My advice is to apply for as many scholarships as possible outside of the university's financial aid.
Tips for prospective students Apply for as many scholarships as possible outside of the university's financial aid. Also, get involved in campus organizations. Otherwise, you will have a LOT of free time on your hands. Go to office hours and get to know your professors. It will be much better when you need letters of recommendation and they actually know you personally. Classes sizes can be very large so make sure to set yourself apart from the rest of the pack.
Great for these types of students Studious and hard working. People looking to get a great education on a beautiful campus. Plus there are many things to do in the immediate area.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I choose to stay beyond four years at UC Irvine, because there is just so much more I didn't know as a high school student. And so much more to learn!
Am enjoying being here The range of activities at our campus is crazy VAST! There are so many clubs, organizations, internships, jobs, research experiences... you name it, a Mock Trial team, Peer Educator Program, Harry Potter club, and a variety of cultural clubs. Many opportunities to build your social and professional networks and just have fun!
Bang for the buck What with the incredible budget cuts and vastly increasing tuition fees in this day and age, it's hard to say that you would be getting your money's worth for a University of California campus. Many popular student services and jobs (i.e. Learning and Academic Resource Center Tutoring, Social Sciences Academic Resource Center). have been cut as a result of these state budget cuts. A lot of the money is being redistributed from the California public educational institutions to other things, including the state prison-industrial system. What used to be on-campus paid internships at the Social Sciences Academic Resource Center (SSARC) for students are no longer paid. Parking on campus is a whole new different story... Many wonderful visiting professors have been laid off and replaced by tenured research professors. In my opinion, I feel that we are losing a lot of passionate professors who love and live to teach and build relationships with students.
On the brighter side of things of the recession--there have also been new student services and re-formed support centers that have come to fruition based on students' comments and demand (i.e. Student Outreach Retention Center, Veterans Services, International Student Center). The students are clearly not the only ones feeling the budget cuts; the professors, staff, and faculty feel it as strongly too. So almost everyone if not all of your fellow professors are on your side, and they do their best to provide you the most you can of your educational undergraduate experience inside and outside the classroom to give you that bang for the buck.Tips for prospective students Because the University of California system is a research-oriented school, research experience in high school gives you a definite leg-up. Engage in your own independent research projects, participate in science fairs. And you DEFINITELY MUST get to know your high school teachers and college counselor. Visit them in their office often, and seek their advice and listen to them!
Also, get involved in clubs on campus that express your interests and passions. Without these extracurricular activities, you wouldn't be able to come up with creative ideas for writing your personal statement.Great for these types of students Research-oriented students. UC Irvine has one of the greatest research institutions and is renowned for its research achievements all over the world.
If you're in social movements, UC Irvine specializes in social movements. Our Sociology Department has a great, prestigious set of professors who have both contributed to the realm of sociological research and social advocacy. May I recommend you get to know the following: Prof. Caesar Sereseres, Prof. Al Valdez, Prof. Charles O'Connel, Prof. Carter Butts... these are only but a few of the AMAZING faculty we have in the Sociology department. And THAT's just one department within the School of Social Sciences... GO SOCIAL SCIENCES!Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot One thing I have noticed here at UCI is that there are so many resources to help you do well. Everyone here really wants you to succeed. Access to tutoring (both free and paid for) is incredibly easy. Yes the lecture halls are huge, but the professors will always give you their e-mails and encourage you to visit them during their office hours. Also, once a week you meet in a smaller group of students with a grad student who helps you with the material from the lecture. It is very helpful to have material explained in a different way.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The best part about being a drama major is the fact that all my classes are under 30 students. All my professors know me by name. So I'm not just a number out of 300 in a lecture. I get units for doing what I'm passionate about and I'm excited for this upcoming year and all the projects I'm going to work on.
Am enjoying being here I love my major and the people within my school (Claire Trevor School of the Arts). This part of campus is gorgeous and so vibrant and full of creativity.
Bang for the buck College is expensive and there isn't much you can do about that except try and mitigate the costs with grants, scholarships, and loans as best as you can.
Tips for prospective students In spite of being a college town there isn't much to do here. There is NO nightlife in terms of clubs/bars. It's a lot of office buildings and corporate parks. There are things to do in the surrounding area but you have to leave Irvine. So it's good to have a car/license! But make sure you come to a full and complete stop at the stop signs. The cops are zealous here and will ticket you for things like that. Also, don't park places overnight unless you are sure it's ok. You will get towed/ticketed and it is not cheap.
Great for these types of students Students looking for a place where they will be challenged to think critically in the classroom but also somewhere fun. Apparently the School of Biological Sciences is world class. The gym is top-notch and there are plenty of clubs, organizations, and greek life. There are plenty of parties you just have to know where they are happening.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have been attending UCI for 3 years now, and I've come to realize that the professors here are really open to helping you to achieve your goals. It's really important for you to show up to office hours though. Don't wait until midterms and/or finals are around the corner to approach them. Many of my professors spend most of their office hours alone because most students just aren't showing up on a regular basis. I definitely feel the difference in my intelligence level just the way I speak on a topic that I've learned throughout my college experience, especially when others are turning to me for help on that topic or situation. I exited high school hoping to be able to engage in intelligent conversations like I see on TV or elsewhere, and I have gotten that through my experience at UCI. Student services, such as the Learning and Academic Resource Center (LARC), helps students on their classes and study skills. UCI supports student research, so if you do faculty-supervised research, you will get compensated for it through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP).
Am enjoying being here I don't enjoy doing research, but I have learned a lot through some of my classes that required a research element. Having research skills really helps you to obtain a good job in the future. I haven't really joined any clubs or organizations since I've been here (which might affect my rating) because I spent that time working, doing internships, and studying. However, I would say the majority of the students here are actually really involved on-campus. Campuswide events, such as Shocktoberfest, really brings us together.
Bang for the buck The only complaint I have about UCI is the parking. It's expensive and hard to find, especially for the residents. Obviously, due to the budget cuts, the tuition has increased and the availability of courses have decreased.
Tips for prospective students Get to know your professors on a deeper level than in class. You're going to need it when it comes down to letters of recommendations in the future. Join on-campus clubs and organizations to get to know others. If possible, carpool with someone in order to avoid the costly parking permits.
Great for these types of students Students who don't mind doing some walking up and down some hills and being around a lot of Asians. Student who might be interested in doing some research. Students who enjoy the warm weather of Southern California.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Being at Irvine gives you the chance to be able to learn for the sake of learning and expanding your knowledge rather then simply learning to pass the test. I have had a great deal of experience with these types of classes where the only way to pass is to memorize material rather than understanding it. At Irvine however I feel that I have the chance to learn a lot with the great professors and amazing staff.
Am enjoying being here Irvine is also located in an amazing area. You are right next to the beach as well as close enough to the city. It is a relaxed area and makes you feel like you are always on vacation.
Bang for the buck It is a little expensive especially since the area is filled with old money. But you really do get your bang for you buck with the high quality education and great living style.
Tips for prospective students My tips would be to visit the campus and sit in on a class of your interested major and see if it clicks for you. Check out the facilities the eating quarters and Aldrich Park. If you don't enjoy it than maybe Irvine isn't right for you.
Great for these types of students Irvine is great for students who need a little less cut throat environment. Student who preform well under their own pressure rather than someone else will thrive here.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot UCI is included in the top ten colleges in the entire world. My friend is currently attending this school and she says that the teachers are really good, even if they assign you loads of work.
Will enjoy being here The campus is incredible. Very beautiful, they sight is just amazing. My friend who goes here says that she sees students always rushing to class with books in their arms. Although it is a good school, the students seem to be very rushed, not taking their time for anything.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I had a lot of preconceptions about UCI, but honestly the professors here are amazing. Many of them are top researchers in their fields so they know a lot, and are willing to teach it to you. It's comforting to know that I am learning from some of the best and brightest.
Am enjoying being here UCI is not like the typical college experience that you see on TV. There's not as many parties and at times it can be quiet, but it's nice that it's not as crazy as some other colleges. The peaceful environment can sometimes be very nice.
Bang for the buck Despite the recent increase in tuition, going to UCI is well worth it, especially if you live at home. UCI is known as a commuter school, so if you're living at home and attend UCI you're getting a top education at a reasonable price, AND you don't have to pay for living.
Tips for prospective students Throw away any preconceptions you may have. After attending the nationally ranked orientation at UCI, I was more than ready to attend UCI. Have an open mind and you'll love UCI.
Great for these types of students Anyone that wants to meet a diverse and amazing student body while getting a top education from renowned professors.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Not only am I learning material from the classes, but I'm also learning life long skills from my friends and my peers. I've learned what study methods work best for me through watching my friends and experimenting with study groups and study rooms as well as the library and Gateway.
Am enjoying being here People who go to UCI are friendly and open to suggestions and freedom of speech. There have been displays of open support of the BGLT community as well as help for those in the Middle East. There are people out on campus expressing their opinions against raised fees or teacher pay cuts.
Bang for the buck Housing is readily available for those who need it and there is always help for those who have any financial difficulties. But you definitely get a solid education and hope for the future.
Tips for prospective students Be open to new ideas, new experiences, and make choices that you'll be happy with in the future.
Great for these types of students Anyone and everyone belongs at UCI. There is always some person, group, or club ready to take you in and help you assimilate yourself into a life that you are happy with.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I haven't attended here yet so I'm not sure if I will learn a lot. But I really do believe this has to do with how hard YOU try not just your professors. I've heard great things about this school and its academics so I'm excited to go.
Will enjoy being here I've gone around UC Irvine and the places surrounding it and everything seems great! Everything looks clean, nice, and safe. I'm not a party person so I really do think this is the school for me.
Bang for the buck I guess I'll find out once I start going right? Right now I find it really expensive because I'm only getting a bit of financial aid, but hopefully it'll be worth it.
Tips for prospective students Actually anyone attending UC Irvine want to give me some tips? Whether its certain classes or certain restaurants to go to, I'm up for it!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am definitely learning a lot here. There are MANY great professors and they truly want to help students learn and enjoy the subjects they are teaching.
Am enjoying being here Great campus with a beautiful park in the middle. There are places for people to hang out and relax and quiet places for people to study or do homework. The professors and faculty are nice and most of the students are very friendly and approachable. Irvine is a great neighborhood too, and if you like Asian foods, you'll never be out of choices here! ;)
Bang for the buck You get what you put into it. Someone can pay his fees but not learn anything and say the fees are too high. If you genuinely enjoy challenges and learning new things, it's definitely the bang for the buck!
Tips for prospective students Keep up on the class readings. Every class has some type of reading to be done, and if you can keep up with the class schedule you'll definitely be prepared for exams. Basically, don't procrastinate. Of course, that's always easier said than done though. ;)
Great for these types of students Anyone really! There's tons of different clubs and activities that cater to many different interests. If you're coming for solely academic purposes, engineering and bio are big majors here. The new business majors are gaining interest. There are also many minors available. I had no idea I wanted to pursue a minor until I attended and saw what was available.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am already in my final quarter of my first year of college at UC Irvine and I can definitely say I have learned a lot. The professors are kind and they really care about their students. If you need help they will help you. The professors I've had have amazed me; they definitely know what they're talking about.
Am enjoying being here I was accepted to many colleges, but it came down to Irvine and Santa Barbara. I decided to visit both schools in order to make my final decision. When I came to Irvine, I immediately felt like this was the place for me. The environment was perfect and peaceful. The events have been really entertaining and everyone is just very welcoming.
Bang for the buck College is expensive but it is definitely worth it because at UC Irvine, you get a great education. Although UC Irvine is not as prestigious as UCLA or any other schools, it is just as good academically and athletically as any other.
Tips for prospective students I believe time management is most important. I had to relearn how to manage my time better. In college, you have more time in between classes, but you need to use that time wisely. Also, be aware that college goes by quicker than high school because, depending on your classes, just three weeks after the quarter has started you have midterms and then suddenly, it's finals week. Finally, if you need help then you should get help. There is plenty of help for students here at Irvine, but you just need to look.
Great for these types of students UC Irvine is a great school for those who want to be challenged academically. UC Irvine is a great school and the professors teach the material very well. Although all of Irvine's departments are wonderful, the Neuroscience Department is one of the best in California, and maybe the US.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are extremely knowledgeable and very interesting. I'm learning a lot mainly due to their passion in the material. This passion really does instill me to learn a lot more than I really have had in the past.
Am enjoying being here There are many things on things that are fantastic on this campus: the opportunities, the nature around the area, the spirited environment, and the motivated teachers. Even though this campus has just about everything that seems to be perfect, I gave this rating half of six because of the amount of academic stress there is at times. The campus is well-rounded, serving both the student's mental and physical health. But it does get to the point where me, the student, want to just relax for a bit.
Bang for the buck UCI's tuition is similar to the others. Generally, it would cost an estimate of 30,000 dollars a year (give or take the amount of classes you take and where you are living), but this is just for a first year. The tuition is expensive, but the quality of the education fairs easily with the costs.
Tips for prospective students Do not procrastinate. The worse thing a student can do once they enter UCI, or any other college, is that they can be left behind fairly easily. Not only will you be overwhelmed, but also stressed out to the point where you'll want to pull your hair out.
Great for these types of students In my point for view, I think students that are in love with nature and science will be compatible with UCI. After all, UCI is filled with many trees and science-based majors. I'm not saying that trees and science-based majors are the only ones that should go to this school, but it's definitely perfect for those individuals that love this green and science-like environment.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes have been very interesting and I have been learning a lot. I took a class last quarter about natural disasters! It was really cool and even more challenging than you would think. I am an undecided major and this school has done a good job at providing me with the tools I can use to help declare a major.
Am enjoying being here For the most part, I enjoy the school and especially the friends I have made, but it isn't completely what I expected. A lot of people live really close and go home on weekends, making it fairly boring and a little depressing, but it is a good time to get homework done. It's much more of a commuter school than I thought and the atmosphere is a little more conservative and reserved than I would like, but usually I do enjoy it.
Bang for the buck It is a great school and a beautiful campus. The weather is beautiful because it is Southern California. The beach is very nice and the surroundings are nothing to complain about. The classes and level of education are great and they offer a lot of classes and majors for all people.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend students to get involved like joining a club, sports team, dance team, sorority, or fraternity because without that, there's not much to do. The dorms are a great way to make friends but it's often hard to find a place to go out on the weekends.
Great for these types of students Reserved, more conservative, and Asian because there are a lot of these. Ones who want to work hard and study but not be too challenged to the point of insanity.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I just finished my first quarter at UCI, so my review might not be too accurate. I'm a Biology major, probably transferring into Social Sciences. I think that The lectures and professors are really great, it's just that the subject did not interest me..so I didn't learn much
Am enjoying being here The city is really nice and peaceful and everyone here is friendly. I dorm so my hallmates are amazing and there always seems to be something there to do.
Bang for the buck I have to say that it's pretty expensive here...maybe it's like that at all UC's.
Tips for prospective students Major in something that you're interested in..I wasn't interested in Biology AT ALL, but I took it and I was miserable. It was incredibly boring for me and I didn't do too well my first quarter.
Great for these types of students Students who work fine on their own, and isn't afraid to go to professors for help.
Students who have the discipline to make themselves do the homework and make themselves read the bookLogin to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professor at UCI are very friendly and have created a rigorous but very informative curriculum for the students. Personally I think they are the best of the best and strive for excellence from their students which is great if you want to obtain the most out of your education. You also have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and do research with the professors.
Am enjoying being here Since the moment I walked into the campus I felt at home. Everyone is so nice and friendly. They walk around campus smiling and looking cheerful and truly I can't say my opinion has changed. I really do feel like the campus is my home. I especially love Aldrich Park because it brings nature and the campus together. I really enjoy being a student at UCI because I am learning and making friends all at once.
Bang for the buck The money you invest in your education at UCI is very much rewarded with the knowledge you get. The price you pay is twice rewarded because you obtain experience and resources that you will use in your desired career.
Tips for prospective students As a UCI freshmen that has just started college the best tip I can give to prospective students is to not fall behind on their readings because it is easier to keep up than to catch up.
Great for these types of students UCI is right for you if you want a peaceful campus. Also if you enjoy or want to do research along with your professor UCI is the right place to go.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Classes are very different from high school, but the professors have so many office hours and they are willing to help everyone. I have already learned so much and I am only a freshman. I can't wait to see what else I will learn.
Am enjoying being here The students and faculty at UCI are great people. Everyone is nice and willing to help. You don't see any bullying or anything like that. I love being here. The Middle Earth dorms are really awesome. There are always things to do and great places to study.
Bang for the buck I think any UC school is worth the money. They really aren't that expensive and you get a great education with so many opportunities to take part in.
Tips for prospective students Even if you think a UC is not an option for you, still apply. You never know what they may see in you. Definitely get involved on campus in things you like to do and be open to new friends and new ideas.
Great for these types of students I think UCI is great for basically everyone actually. I think anyone can find their niche here.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am currently taking three classes. Bio 93, Writing 39B and Chem 1A. If you are planning on being a bio major and attending UCI these will probably be your classes. My biology and chem professors are really helpful. They make sure to provide enough examples. They make office hours very accessible. For Chem I do find myself learning a lot. Since I didn't pass the AP Bio exam with a 5 I have to take Bio93. My bio book is the exact same book I had for AP Bio so not exactly learning anything new. However my Bio professors do add information from their research.
Am enjoying being here There's not much to do around here. Depending on where you stay Mesa Court or Middle Earth you will find a completely different atmosphere. Here in Middle Earth things are quiet. They do have events though. Small events during the weekend to get people out and about. Sometimes it can be hard making friends with your hall. I find it easier to blend in with other halls. I'm not a huge fan of UCI but I do like the ability to go for a late night walk in Aldrich Park and not have to feel unsafe. People around here are nice when it comes to move in time.
Tips for prospective students Have a week of Irvine before you move in. Go around the OC and find places that are within 30 minutes away. Learn how to use the bus. Chances are that is how you will be getting around. During SPOP, which is orientation, try to make connections and I mean lasting connections. Exchange numbers. College is much easier with friends. Develop good study habits. It's easy to get distracted when you have hallmates yelling in the common room. Don't get too overwhelmed. You have to learn that sometimes you've done all you could do and just have to relax.
Great for these types of students They say UCI is a school for bio majors. That might be true but in reality this school and well as any school is for those students who are determined and have great self-control. If you got that then you're pretty much good.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Yes the classes are very interesting and challenging. In order to get the most out of your classes you have to put a lot in. UCI is a very competitive school, so be ready to hit the ground running when it comes to school work.
Am enjoying being here I love it here. I have met many wonderful people and enjoy both the social and academic aspects of the school.
Bang for the buck Since UCI is a state school it is well worth the cost. I feel like I am getting a BIG bang for my buck and I have to pay for this myself!!!!
Tips for prospective students Come with an open mind, do not believe everything you hear about UCI. Experience the school for yourself. Eat at the commons, stay in the dorms, go to a class. Be your own critic....you will be surprised
Great for these types of students People looking for a great college experience. People who are not afraid of a large campus and those who really want to meet great new friends

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot What I have learned here is nothing compared to high school. There is absolutely no comparing what you learn here. I will admit that it is difficult but its not impossible, especially considering that both the professors and t.a's are willing to stay after class and talk to you, meet with you during their office hours so you can talk to them one on one, plus they do all they can to make sure you get the material. I've learned so very much in my short time here and its been great.
Am enjoying being here There are a considerable amount of things to do on campus. Whether its something as simple as going down to the Anteater Recreation Center (ARC) and getting a good workout at the gym or enjoying the natural scenery at Aldrich Park, being here has been great. The Associated Students University of California Irvine (ASUCI) do all they can to make sure that we have events that we, the students, would actually attend.
Bang for the buck In regards to cost, this university is relatively inexpensive to the average student. While the same can not be said for the surrounding area, it is still one of the better educations that one can receive considering that most UC's charge over $30000 this one is roughly $3000 less and you get an education that is on par with the more expensive colleges such as UCLA and UCSB
Tips for prospective students Don't worry if you don't know what you want to major in. Most of the people in college end up changing their major because they find something that they like better. Once you are here it is important to enjoy your stay here, go out to the events that are held on campus but still know that the principle reason you are here is to learn, so balance your social life and your studying
