Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I was delighted to find that most of the professors at UC really know their stuff and they are willing to help if you don't understand them on the first go. However, it certainly is useful to ask around about potential professors. I had a Chemistry lecture that was useless, but the TA really helped me stay on track. That being said, a lot of the TA's, especially in the math department, are really truly horrible. Office hours and learning centers (free!) are your friend if you get stuck with one of these TA's.
Am enjoying being here The campus at UC is probably the most beautiful thing in Cincinnati. I love walking around campus and it feels like an urban city but has plenty of green spaces and quiet corners. I couldn't ask for more in a college campus. I also find that most of the students are very open to new people from all kinds of backgrounds.
Bang for the buck I got lucky in that I qualified for in-state tuition. I think the price is great for in-state eligible students. The campus is very modern -- there is WiFi everywhere, almost every classroom has a computer/projector setup, and the professors are good about using Blackboard and email. The out-of-state price is very high, and I would only recommend it if you enroll in a top-ranking program like DAAP or CCM. For the in-state engineering student, UC is a great choice!
Tips for prospective students Use office hours, study groups, learning communities, and learning center hours to your advantage. There are tons of resources at your disposal when you are a student at UC. Apply early -- even if you're not sure, because applying before December guarantees you a $2000/year scholarship. Go on a campus visit, but also wonder around campus on your own (during the school day) and try to drop in a couple classes (discreetly of course).

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There is always an interesting class to take, and the professors are very helpful! They encourage you to do your best, while presenting you with challenging information. If you are a freshman, most professors understand the transition from high school to college, and one aspect that really adds to this is the learning communities many of the majors require or highly suggest. This allows you to learn from other students and work more closely with your teaching assistant.
Am enjoying being here There is always something to do! There are extensive opportunities to get involved, whether it be on-campus clubs or organizations, Greek life, sporting events, etc. or even just hanging out in the dorms or apartments. People are super friendly and you will never be bored!
Bang for the buck Speaking from the prospective of an in-state student, The University of Cincinnati is very affordable. They also offer a wide variety of scholarships and aid for students.
Tips for prospective students There is so much to do that will enrich your experience here, so make sure to look at all of the student organizations to see what UC has to offer you. Also, be sure to take a campus tour and talk to current students! Research the possible majors, and consider their great medical facility if you are interested in a health care career.
Great for these types of students UC is perfect for students who study hard, but like to have fun! Students who value diversity and meeting new people would love this school, seeing as how one of UC's main focuses is diversity. There are many different types of people on campus, and I feel that UC is perfect for anyone!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are a lot of good teachers, but be warned about TAs. They are part of major classes and teach once a week. There knowledge varies heavily, but there are some who do know their topic well. the recitation (one with a TA) is a class where you should ask questions if you don't understand. To make it less intimidating think of it as asking a friend who happened to take the class before you.
As for the lectures themselves with your professor, I've had a lot of good professors. If you don't manage to get something out of your professor during lecture, there are office hours where you can talk to the teacher, and there's half a dozen centers where graduates and upper classmen can help you.Am enjoying being here The first few quarters I've had ups and downs. My down was mostly because of the course work, but that's what i get for choosing one of the harder colleges (engineering) the campus has to offer. Even in a tough college like Engineering I've had a lot of fun. There are dozens of groups and if there isn't one for your interest you can make one. My friends and I, we made the UC breakdancing club. You can often find us around main street in the glass box below the rec center. And never have we turned down someone who wants to learn.
Other than clubs, there's a lot of chill spots. Sigma sigma, mainstreet cinema, catskeller (restaurant, arcade), during fall and spring The commons at the end of mainstreet has events everywhere. Food, music, and a lot of it is FREE.Bang for the buck I won't say it's cheap, but it's definitely not bad. 10,000 (books ect,). Books are something that you should ask around for. Many upper classmen are trying to get rid of their old books and will sell theirs for absurdly low prices. I've gotten books that were 80 for 10, and 160 for 30. You won't find those prices too often but you'll get at least 50% off if you ask around.
Lastly. Co-op. We founded co-op in the engineering building. If your major has co-ops. I would advise taking the extra year being a student and Co-op. You'll 1) bring your resume up 2) get real world experience for your major 3) make money to pay off loans 4) possibly learn a language and do international co-op. 5) after graduation possibly get hired by a company you co-op'ed with.
Tips for prospective students Be forward. Make friends join an learning community where you will be placed with other people with the same schedule as you.
Form groups to study with. My grades went up when I studied with other people. Because it means I get to teach them which ends up as practice for me and they can help me if I don't get something or I'm on the wrong track.
If you are on a science based major (engineering for example) take some AP and get them out of the way. the transition from highschool to a tough college will most likely rattle a new student. The first few quarters will be lighter if you take AP.
If you aren't sure where to go, take some classes and find out what you want to do. Even if it seems like junk classes and a waste of 10,000 (with books ect.) you can build your GPA, get Grants, get scholarships, and then get into a College you want to be in for sure. So 10,000 will probably turn into 3,000 if you do well.Great for these types of students Engineers
DAAP (artistic outlooks)
Coop (UC founded it)

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The first year for many of the classes was difficult because almost all my professors were foreign. I'm in my second year and so far this year the quality of the professors have been much better. They are more helpful, they speak clearly and for the most part seem to really enjoy their job.
Am enjoying being here I love being at UC. The atmosphere is alright. I do have a couple of complaints though. The old chem building which I've had a few classes in seems to be falling apart. There are poles holding the one side up, the rooms I've been in are filthy, moldy, and one even had a hole punched in the wall. In this room half of the light bulbs were burned out; it is just about impossible to take an exam in the dark.
Bang for the buck The parking is outrageous. It's 8 dollars per day to park in a garage if you dont buy the parking permit which is $225 per quarter or if you forget your permit. Books are ridiculously priced at the book store. 10k a year in tuition to have foreign professors and grad students is a rip off in my opinion as well, at least all my classes dont have foreign profs.
Tips for prospective students The first year might be a little rough, but it will get better. Shadow someone and do a college visit. Be sure to check out the rec center.
Great for these types of students UC is great for students who like to work out because of the rec center. Uc is great for those that do not want to drive to school and not have a car. UC is great for students who like chipotle as there are two within walking distance!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am currently in UC's college of DAAP- Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning. It is a fantastic place to study; the majority of the professors are UC graduates who teach part time. They start from the basics no matter how much previous experience you have. This gives more students the ability to go into design fields, because it doesn't require any prior knowledge of art or design. The school also has a very strict grading scale which is a powerful motivator for most students.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus and the area around Cincinnati. UC is located in the middle of many amazing places only a short bus ride away. For example, we are near the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Cincinnati Zoo, the Krohn Conservatory, and many great shopping areas. If you want to stay on campus, there are hundreds of clubs to join too. I find I rarely have an hour with nothing to do let alone a whole day!
Bang for the buck Although college is undoubtedly expensive, for the price of UC you get a great education, good food in the three dining halls, a great living environment, and an overall good experience.
Tips for prospective students Don't second guess yourself on what you want or what you want to pursue in college. I have many friends who change their major because they went into their second choice major instead of taking the initial risk with what they truly loved. To those with undecided majors, UC also has a wonderful exploratory program to give you a taste of everything, thereby helping you find your passions and potential career.
Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is exceptionally ranked in the fields of nursing, engineering, and arts and design, but really it's a place that fits just about everyone's interests and passions.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am a second year student in the architecture program. I have learned so much this year. UC is not like most colleges, I did not have to complete 2 years of general classes to get into the architecture program. I have been learning skills since day one. My professors are a mix of art majors, graduate students, and practicing architects. They offer so many views on each subject I really had a chance to build my own style. My general classes were also great. Professors are willing to spend time outside of class to help their students understand the curriculum.
Am enjoying being here The only downside to UC is that it is far away from where I live. Other then that it is an amazing campus in a close proximity to downtown. There is so much to do everyday. The university and various student groups offer mixers and activities. I joined a professional fraternity, Alpha Rho Chi. We do things like volunteer activities, visit architecture firms, and have family dinners. The students here are very friendly. The Rec center is amazing too. They offer co-ed sports year round and have two pools. I really enjoyed the free workout classes.
Bang for the buck As far as public schools go UC is fairly expensive. I also had to buy all of my supplies for my program. Students in any of the design programs will have this problem. I was lucky enough to receive one of the Cincinnatus scholarships and to be in-state. The different colleges do offer many scholarships for second year and above students, which is nice. Co-op programs can also help pay for school.
Tips for prospective students Be ambitious. There is so much to do on campus, there is no excuse to only go to class. Join a club or a frat. Visit downtown. Have the time of your life.
Great for these types of students UC is great for anyone who wants a beautiful urban campus. And especially architecture or interior design students, who’s programs are among the top in the nation. My big draw to the university was the co-op program. It is part of the curriculum and allows students to intern at different firms to gain experience and build a well-rounded resume.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot UC encourages students to pursue more than just their major- whether it is adding a second major, minor, or certificate. I am currently double-majoring, and I intend on adding a certificate as well. In addition, UC wants all students to be well-rounded, so each student has general education requirements in addition to their major requirements. Through this, I have taken classes that I have loved and classes that I have hated- but I still learned a ton no matter what. I have had mostly helpful professors who are interested in giving me the best grade that I deserve. In addition, I am in the honors program and am constantly receiving e-mails or in-person talks about the opportunities given to honors students. Scholarships, internships, studying abroad, or research opportunities, I always feel in the loop to better my educational experience.
Am enjoying being here I lived in a residence hall last year, and I met great people to hang out with. I have also met great people through my involvement on campus. The rec center offers tons of fitness classes each week, where it is easy to start a conversation with someone new. I have joined clubs centered around my majors, and it is nice to know that I can bond with others in my field while learning important things for my future. I'd say I have met the most diverse group of people in the co-ed service fraternity I joined, Alpha Phi Omega. The group also provides for tons of leadership opportunities. And, of course, the campus is beautiful. My main complaint about UC is the foods available in the dining hall- while there is much selection, as a picky eater I am not very satisfied.
Bang for the buck I personally have not felt like my money was wasted terribly, but I know others have had worse experiences with professors. Once again, I feel that the food could be improved on. I also do not like how much is spent on athletics, but that is seen at every university. My only major complaint is that scholarships are hard to come by, and when they are received, it is not much. Only ten incoming freshman a year receive a full ride. You have to be in the right program or of minority status to receive significant financial help.
Tips for prospective students Definitely visit UC before making a decision. I chose to apply to UC because it looked good on collegeboard.com, but visiting is really what got me excited about the idea of going there.
Great for these types of students UC is one of the most diverse schools, so I encourage anyone to apply. If you are majoring in engineering or one of the DAAP majors, I definitely suggest applying to UC. It is also a great school for those looking to be in the city.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am currently a college freshman at the University of Cincinnati for the 2010-2011 school year. At UC, I am studying interior design in the School of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, also known as DAAP. The interior design program is ranked nationally as the best interior design school in the United States. As a result, I am learning leaps and bounds of new information and new techniques in this program. I am learning to think outside the box, to solve different kinds of problems, and to develop my creativity to a whole new level.
Am enjoying being here UC's atmosphere is unbelievable. Everyone is so friendly and inviting. Within the first two weeks, I met a boatload of people with the same interests and hobbies as me. Not only are the people a thrill about UC, but also the UC campus is beautiful and I enjoy exploring it each and every day.
Bang for the buck Wherever you go, college is going to be expensive and it is going to take a chunk out of your wallet. Nevertheless, UC costs a lot less than a majority of other schools; especially if you pay in-state tuition. However, if you are an out of state student, you are able to get in-state tuition if you own property in Ohio. This is a great bonus that a lot of my friends are taking advantage of.
Tips for prospective students Take more than one tour of this campus. I wasn't convinced on going to UC the first time around, but after the second tour I fell in love and there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to attend the University of Cincinnati.
Great for these types of students UC is great for any type of student. It has many well-recognized programs such as the engineering program, the nursing program, the architecture program, and the interior design program. I encourage everyone to look into the University of Cincinnati. It's friendly atmosphere and outstanding academics will capture any eye.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I've found that in my major, Secondary Language Arts Education, many of the teachers are very willing and able to help students. There are a wide variety of class sizes and teaching styles, so any student can find the style that allows him/her to learn best. Quarters are only 10 weeks, so classes move through material pretty quickly, and it's not easy to get bored when things are moving fast. UC also has a large course offering, and students can find interesting classes in every major.
Am enjoying being here I love being at UC and in Cincinnati. I grew up in a very small town, and moving to a city the size of Cincinnati was a big deal for me, but I'm really enjoying the change. UC is a big school, but the buildings are close together and campus is always filled with people playing music, hanging out, or studying. There is always something to do, either on campus or off. Living in a city like Cincinnati gives students many more resources than at smaller schools in smaller cities. Yes, students do need to be careful and smart in the city, but it's worth the art museums, great food, sporting events, shopping, and music venues. Not to mention that a bigger city offers more job opportunities, and UC's co-op program can put students in some of the biggest and most powerful companies in the U.S. and abroad.
Bang for the buck As a freshman, students are required to live in a dorm for at least one year, and that's where the major expenses come from. However, after freshman year, students can live anywhere, and living off campus with roommates really cuts down on costs, and makes going to school more affordable. The tuition is definitely worth the school, especially when the Engineering Department, DAAP, CCM, and Business Department are all top ranked departments in the U.S.
Tips for prospective students Please please listen to me: GO TO CLASS! It is the most important thing and the hardest thing to do. Going to class really makes a difference, and developing a schedule is key. Most students are used to coming from high schools where everything is pretty much planned out for them, and having the freedom of college can become a problem if students let it. Skipping class all the time is the easiest way to fail because many teachers do take attendance and will specifically teach information only available in class and not online.
Great for these types of students UC is great for students who want a large, diverse school in a big-city setting. Cincinnati is obviously not as large as Chicago or New York, but it's definitely big enough that boredom isn't really an option. The school is great for lovers of math and science, as well as the arts and business.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are very dedicated to their subject and are always willing to help. Most classes are challenging but not so much that you'll get overwhelmed.
Am enjoying being here The buildings are modern and very up-to-date. Technology is used a lot and you'll love how compact the whole campus is. The surrounding area, Clifton, is run-down but there are a lot of community improvement projects that are working to make the area more student-friendly.
Bang for the buck UC is pretty good about giving scholarships, and the quality of the campus and teachers are well worth the costs.
Tips for prospective students Take a campus tour. The rec center is awesome! Talk to as many people as you can, and try to get a feel for the surrounding area to see if it's right for you. Definitely have an interview with the head of your prospective major.
Great for these types of students Urban, people-oriented, involved.

Food and Dining I eat out or cook my own meals all the time. My roomate has a dining card and eats in the dining halls. He says its pretty good.

Tips for prospective students make sure you go to class and do the required work.
Academic Rigor courses are challenging and require effort, but we are college students so it should be expected.

Categories Rating Comments Am enjoying being here UC sometimes gets a bad rep for the area that it is in, but as long as you are safe and walk in a group, especially at night, you will be fine. You really are never at risk unless you choose to put yourself in that kinda of situation. Its a really fun campus, and everyone is able to find their group that they fit into.
Tips for prospective students Dont let yourself get caught up on the rep that UC has against other schools. Although it may not be one of the top schools in the country, we do have some of the top programs such as criminal justice and the special education program as well. I feel that I'm learning a lot here and am getting my moneys worth. Also, I highly recommend that you live in the dorms, its a great way to meet friends and socialize.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences In three sentences, the University of Cincinnati is a higher institution of learning that allows students to expand their wealth of knowledge beyond their imagination. The programs, professors, classes and extra-curriculars cohesively form an education that is beyond textbooks and tests. At the University of Cincinnati, you don't just go to school, you go to college.
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of the numerable offices and advisers available for you! Whether it may be the Honors office, the office of preprofessional activities, the Cooperative Education program, or the Exploratory major program, the University of Cincinnati has some of the best resources available for it's students during their course as a student.
Academic Rigor At the University of Cincinnati, there are multiple class levels that test your own personal academic ability. If you prefer harder classes that demand time and energy, you will find them, but if you prefer to take a more relaxing and enjoyable class, there are those options too! From our personal scheduling program, you have the ability to customize your workload and classes each semester!
Dorm Life The University of Cincinnati has some of the most quality dorm rooms in the country. There is a wide range of rooms available; from suite style with your own personal bathroom to the traditional double occupancy room. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the University of Cincinnati, you will see even the most common freshman hall has large rooms that spaciously fit two people, large windows, a beautiful view of downtown Cincinnati and unbeatable resources such as study floors, game lounges, Resident Advisers and laundry facilities.
Food and Dining With three dining halls, the University of Cincinnati has some of the greatest and award wining food on it's campus. The three dining halls feature multiple food options, such as: build your own salad or sandwich, grill station, home meals station, stir-fry, vegetarian, gluten free and pizza station. The dining halls also take it a step further by featuring healthy menu options in their displays and having information posted about their food and good eating habits.
What to do for fun The University of Cincinnati is superbly located in the middle of Cincinnati. The attractions within driving or busing distance include: downtown Cincinnati, the Riverfront and Newport Kentucky, Kings Island, multiple malls and shopping areas, movie theaters, restaurants, night life and educational centers such as the Freedom Center and Cincinnati Museum Center.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus In the early 1900's, a Physics professor would spend his spring afternoons grading papers outside of the Geology-Physics building. He soon realized that he was beginning to hear voices echoing, but when he searched for a source, saw no one around him. After years of study and almost maddening fear that he was crazy, the professor discovered the unusual reason for the noises: Echo Point. Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The University of Cincinnati has a great atmosphere, great people, great professors, and great faculty. All of my questions have been answered by someone and I'm going to miss this place when I graduate.
Tips for prospective students Get involved! UC offers so many things that you can be part of. Club sports, different fraternities/sororities, intramural teams, teaching assistants, among others. There's something for everybody.
Academic Rigor I feel that I have been gaining an exceptional education at UC. The class sizes vary from small-large; which ever you prefer. Either way, the professors care and want to see you succeed.
Dorm Life Some dorms are a little old, but they are currently building (and just built) some very nice dorms that surround the campus.
Food and Dining The dining halls are some of the best. There are plenty to choose from and they have delicious food!
What to do for fun The basketball and football games really are a great place to meet people and have a great time!
Campus Safety Clifton may not have the best track record of safety; however, police protection has been increased this past year. There are safety spots with free emergency phones to make a call to anyone if you feel threatened. UC offers a shuttle service that runs at all hours so you do not have to walk by yourself in the dark. I feel safe at UC.

Categories Rating Comments Academic Rigor University of Cincinnati is ranked one of the top 100 engineering schools in the country (considering there are several hundred schools). With a high student success rate, the college offers a wide variety of internships and distant learning opportunities to students. Many students from UC graduate AS engineers.
Dorm Life University of Cincinnati is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Forbes.com comments on the campuses strong commitment to contemporary architects and a post modern identity and considers it an increasingly beautiful campus. The school boasts a high student diversity rate and offers a large number of high-class suites, dorms and recreation centers.
Food and Dining University of Cincinnati offers a wide variety of dining options for its students. Students can enjoy the freedom of the buffet-style banquet halls, the choices of the health food alternatives, and the vending from many highly-named restaurants.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The Universities architecture makes it one of the better looking colleges that I have been to. The campus isn't too small but it also isn't too big. Everything is just walking distance away so you don't feel like you have to hike anywhere.
Tips for prospective students Get well acquainted with your academic advisor/counselor, the more involved you are with them the better your academic success at the university.
Academic Rigor The classes are very insightful and you learn a lot with each class. The classes are made to be challenging in a way to make you expand your knowledge. The think I like is that you can pick your classes and you can work your classes around your schedule if your enroll early enough.
Dorm Life Dorm life is very exciting! There are always something to do or something going on to keep you involved. The people you meet and the relationships that form because of dorm life here are priceless.
Food and Dining The food that they provide is of a wide variety, and if they don't have it made they will make it for you if you ask. They have food for the most carnivorous person to a vegetarian. Also they have a cafe for the late night people who like to eat on those late night study sessions.
What to do for fun There are always activities going on on campus. You have the rec center where you can workout, play basketball, volleyball, racquetball, ping pong or swim. Also there are always intramurals going on so you can feed that competitive spirit inside of you. And just off of campus there are plenty of restaurants for you to choose from so that you always have a variety and not the same old thing.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The campus is absolutely stunning for an urban campus. The Food is adequate for a college student, definitely a step up from the high school cafeteria. The dorms are somewhat small but with personal touches from home they appear rather welcoming.
Tips for prospective students Visit the campus if you are unsure about an urban campus, you might just change your mind with all the green space and the open campus design.
Academic Rigor I personally don't know much about the intensity of the classes here but from what I have heard you learn a lot and have opportunities to work out problems before they become issues and limit your academic progress.
Dorm Life Personal desks, lofted beds, and wardrobes provide enough space for all of your personal belongings.
Food and Dining You use swipes for meals which get you into the dining facilities. You can stay as long as you want and eat as much as you would like.
What to do for fun There are options all around from cafes, to a trip to the movies. Anything is possible with a city of possibilites around campus, one of my favorite things near by is the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
Bang for the buck Some programs rank nationally as some of the best, while combining a world class campus and a low in-state tuition rate.

Academic Rigor I'm so excited to be accepted into the Lindner Honors Plus Program. It is , by far, the best opportunity for me going for a business degree. Not only do I get smaller classes, I also get real life experience during paid co-ops.
Dorm Life The Turner dorms are really nice. No communal bathrooms (!!!) and there's a living room.
Food and Dining There seems to be a good variety of food options. I was very pleased both times I went to visit.

the conservatory is one of the best in the country!Academic Rigor i'm in the music conservatory so the program is extremely rigorous.
Food and Dining the food on campus is actually pretty good and just off campus are a lot of really good little restaurants.
Bang for the buck if you're out of state, the tuition is unbelievably high but for the conservatory program, it's will be worth it in the long run.
Great for these types of students music and theater majors
Campus Safety unfortunately, the university is located in a not so good section of town and you must take precautions and not venture off campus alone.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences great campus: beautiful, easy to get around, and interesting. decent professors: some lecture hall style classes are overwhelming but other professors really work with you, especially after freshman year. there are a lot of activities and groups to get involved in.
Tips for prospective students go to class, always.
don't buy the textbook until the first week of class; not all teachers use the book, or you can get it from the library.
meal plan: aim for the 2 meals/day plan.
tas (teaching assistants) are almost always unhelpful and sometimes are confusing.
get involved.Academic Rigor for the fact it is a state school and not a private, ivy league the education is amazing. but in general it is a good education, better depending on certain majors. for most majors the freshman courses are very similar, with massive classes. anything after your first year is a complete different experience.
Dorm Life this really depends on where you live. turner is probably one of the best dorms since it is filled with the athletes and honors students, which are typically of a higher caliber. dabney is near the bottom of the list. very party oriented, striving to create a fun and friendly atmosphere. university park apartments (upa) combines dorm and apartment living, since you have an apartment but still have ras and strict guidelines.
Food and Dining center court is the main dining hall and the only one open on weekends and major holidays. the people who work there do a great job and the breakfast crew especially enjoys what they do and coming to work. it's also in the middle of everything.
stadium view is open for lunch and dinner and looks over nipert stadium. they do carry out (and are the only dining hall which does) which is great for when its nice out or you want to eat in class, your room, etc.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences uc is a big school, its full of great people, the cafeteria food is horrible most of the time.
Tips for prospective students be ready to hate the food services a couple weeks into school, there are lots of great restaurants around campus so also be ready to spend alot of money on food. you will meet alot fo people if you stay in one of the freshmen dorms, especially calhoun.
Academic Rigor its pretty difficult at times (im a engineering major) but the teachers tend to be pretty forgiving if you email them or speak to them about any issues you are having. engineers, be prepared to have max credit hours at all times!
Dorm Life i have lived in turner hall (honors/athletes dorm) this whole school year, but i ended up spending most of my time in calhoun because of the great social life over there.
Food and Dining its pretty bad, there is one good cafeteria on campus and one that is ok, but both of them are only open mon- fri, leaving you to fend for yourself on the weekends on eat at the worst cafeteria on campus.
What to do for fun there is alot, and if you like parties/clubs there is alot of that. if you like to play intramural sports, there is alot of that. there is alot to do period.
Bang for the buck i think it is a great value besides the fact that if your in engineering be prepared to never understand your foreign professors.
Campus Safety its pretty cool mostly just stay smart and play it safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the university of cincinnati is a beautiful campus with even better people. there are all kinds of people ranging from punk rock skaters to jocks and everything imaginable in between. if you want a quality education in a relatively large city the university of cincinnati is right for you.
Tips for prospective students try your best to get your applications in before december so you are eligible for more of the scholarship opportunities that aren't available later in the registration process.
Academic Rigor depending on what your major is classes can be tough and take a lot of time to study for each week. at the same time there are some people who have relatively easy majors and classes and can do whatever they want on any given day.
Dorm Life at the moment uc has seven dorms but are in the process of renovating two other dorms. four of the dorms are almost entirely composed of first year students.
Food and Dining there are three cafeterias available with various eateries on and surrounding campus for plenty of variety.
Clubs and Activities there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of opportunities available at the university of cincinnati for all sorts of people to get involved in.
Greek Life there are over 20 fraternities and sororities at the university of cincinnati with about 5 to 10 percent of students participating.
Campus Safety the campus itself is very safe but the surrounding area and neighborhood isn't the safest of places. the uc and city police do a great job of keeping everything under control and let the students know of any potentially harmful information and seek tips on crimes.

What to do for fun the rec center is great with many intramural sports constantly going on. also there are countless clubs to get involved with, enough for anyone to find something they like. i personally suggest mountaineering club and the rock wall!

Food and Dining the food is excellent and is as if you are eating at home.
What to do for fun there are countless activities to get involved in. there are recreational and intramural teams where you can make friends and engage in friendly competition. uc also has an excellent recreational facility with countless machines for working out and staying fit along with work out classes taught by friendly student instructors.

Food and Dining a variety of food and food places as well as late hours.
What to do for fun there are many campus socials at the beginning and end of the year and the volunteer opportunities often prove very entertaining. there are also events planned at the tangeman university center such as swing dancing lessons, speed dating, and diversity week.
Bang for the buck there are a multitude of options for study and university involvement for how much money you pay.

Great for these types of students diversity is valued at the university therefore it's fantastic for several types of students.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences uc is a great school for students who enjoy a large urban campus with a wide variety of students and professors. although uc is not in the safest part of town, the university does a great job of making students feel safe. the city and university offer great transportation options for getting around the university, surrounding neighborhoods and downtown area.
Tips for prospective students take a campus tour and see if you like not just the campus, but the surrounding neighborhoods. keep in mind that uc is big and you will be walking a lot or biking or taking the shuttles or buses, unless you have $500 for a parking pass each quarter.
Academic Rigor college is hard, simple as that. some of the introductory classes your freshman year may not be too difficult. but as you get into your degree you will have to put in time and effort if you want to do well.
Dorm Life i lived in daniels hall which was very crowded (4 people to a room). i heard that there were cockroaches in the past and there were constantly people burning ramen noodles or popcorn in their rooms and setting the fire alarm off at 2am. obnoxious to deal with, but part of dorm life at uc. on the plus side, it was close to classes and dining halls.
Food and Dining uc has many good options for dining. besides the 3 dining halls for those with a meal plan, there is also tuc. they offer sushi, pizza hut, chic-fil-a, and burger king. if you are not in the mood for any of those options there are countless options in the surrounding neighborhood blocks.
What to do for fun tons! there are many art museums, movie theaters, bars, nightclubs, and sporting events going on everyday. that is probably the greatest perk of living in such a big city. there are many neighborhoods that offer different activities: clifton/gaslight district (esquire movie theater, indian food, restaurants, coffee shops), mt. adams (tons of bars), downtown (bars, clubs, museums, music), newport (bars, aquarium), clifton heights (bars, music)
Bang for the buck the tuition is worth it. but the cost for on campus housing is quite high compared to what you can find in the surrounding areas.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there are tons of great quiet study spots in many of the libraries particularly langsum, erc and msb library. you just have to do a little exploring :)
Great for these types of students enjoy an urban environment
have some street smarts
don't mind large classes your freshman yearClubs and Activities awesome, there are endless numbers of clubs. if your interested in a particular activity, get involved with the club, you will meet tons of new friends :)
Campus Safety alright. the area is not super safe, but uc does a good job of lighting the campus and having lots of police officers on duty. you will gain street smarts by the end of your time at uc.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the university of cincinnati is a good learning instituion academic wise. i personally don't like the social aspect of the university, the student body seems to stick with their own groups; however most people like it here. i'd give the university an a in academics and programs, but a d in the social aspect
Tips for prospective students go to class because the professors teach everything you need to know for tests and homework.
Academic Rigor the academics are challenging but not overwhelming
Dorm Life dorm life is good for the most part, but some times disagreements may arise
Food and Dining the food is good, but you'll be craving a home cooked meal soon enough.
What to do for fun go out with friends, play sports on the varsity feilds, or maybe just watch tv
Bang for the buck the university is quite greedy in my opinion, total expenses in all are approximately over 20,000 a year, meal swipes can only be used in dining halls, and scholarships are hard come by
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus i'd suggest going to a football game. it has a great atmosphere. and of course there are a lot of random traditions like there is at any college.
Great for these types of students hard working, well off, and closed minded. most people here have money but they still know how to work hard. however, most of the people are closed minded and arent willing to accept new things. ive noticed most races stick with in their own race, and thats not something i enjoy
Clubs and Activities havent joined a club
Greek Life not in a fraternity
Campus Safety even though the university is in a not so great part of town, it stays pretty quiet. ive never had a problem with safety and i feel comfortable walking around by myself at night. of course the occaisional robbery report comes through your emial but its nothing to worry about

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences it is a great school with many opportunities. if you are willing to put yourself out there and willing to get involved it has so much to offer. the academics are amazing and the cocurricular outside of class are even better!
Tips for prospective students do not be afraid to put yourself out there. get involved in something you have never thought to try, cause at university of cincinnati they have it all. do not hesitate to ask question and talk to professors if you do not understand something! that is what they are here for!
Academic Rigor since i am a neuroscience major the classes themselves are difficult. but if you are willing to apply yourself and seek help when you need it, it is really manageable.
Dorm Life everyone is so welcoming and fun when you live in the dorms! i came to this school not knowing many people at all, but i met so many new friends and people that i can have fun with! there is never a dull moment living in the dorms on this campus!
Food and Dining while there food can get a little boring, their dining halls have a great atmosphere. there is usually something good to eat if you look hard enough, and if not there are always college kid staples, like pizza! :)
What to do for fun the fun is non stop at this campus. if you want to do something, there is bond to be a group somewhere on this campus that does it, and if not, start your own! there is always something to do on the weekends and even during the weeks for that much needed break from homework!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the campus itself is a 2 mile squared area, making it very accessible to many activities; about 15 minutes tops. there is almost anything you can do on campus before ten; check out the catskellar pub, variety of restaurants, work out at the gym or grab some starbucks before class. however, outside of the campus there are limited things to do after hours besides house parties at the moment - there is a major multi-use development ready to begin in the next year.
Tips for prospective students take advantage of the dorms. even though it may feel like high school after a while, the connections you make and the food court are the few things to respect.
Academic Rigor depending on your background the work load isn't that much but not to be taken lightly. in my major, urban planning, studio work is strenuous at first to weave people out but you get used to it and eventually becomes family. if internships are available or required for your major take full advantage of it. nothing beats a strong resume and recommendation letters from your employees. also, get out of cincinnati if you can. you will learn a lot - not only about the firm, but about yourself.
Dorm Life it's great doing something new! just keep your head about you.
Food and Dining although the tuition bill reflects the cost, you are technically covered for about 5 meals a day, take advantage. counteract your inevitable freshman 15 with utilizing the gym.
What to do for fun get into as many honor societies and clubs as possible, the emails will pour in. regardless, walk around and feel out the area if you don't have a car. if you do have a car, god bless you, the parking garages are quite the bang for your buck. i just hope you get an adequate apartment. there are several pubs in the area and plenty of food options, look up the parks as well. burnett woods used to be uc, and has plenty to do and see as well as the adjacent ludlow avenue. get in the know, subscribe to local news letters and such online.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences University of Cincinnati is a great school located in a very youthful, urban area. The professors are intelligent, well-informed, and helpful to students, and the campus life is great. It is diverse and progressive.
Tips for prospective students Learn as much as you can about the school before showing up for your first day of class. Make a friend who is already a student, and have them show you the ropes. The school is big, so it can be overwhelming for first year students.
Academic Rigor This varies from professor to professor. One 300 level course may be significantly more difficult than another with a different prof..
Dorm Life I don't live in a dorm, but I've heard mostly good things about them.
Food and Dining The on-campus spots to eat aren't anything to write home about, but the surrounding areas have a lot of great, independent restaurants and coffee shops that cater to students.
What to do for fun Sports games, concerts on and off campus, Art showings, coffee shops with friends, etc.
Bang for the buck Tuition is a little outrageous, and they really kill you (as with most schools, I suspect), with book prices and parking passes for commuters.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus N/A
Great for these types of students All sorts of folks, really. It's quite diverse.
Clubs and Activities I'm not involved in any campus groups, but I'm constantly asked to join them by classmates.

Campus Safety Campus is very safe, but Clifton, the neighborhood where the school is located is notoriously violent, and there are a lot of reported robberies and thefts. Not for the faint of heart.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I highly enjoy my classes here at the University of Cincinnati. Not only are the classes academically challenging, but they are interesting. For my Introduction to Criminal Justice class we had multiple speakers come in and give us a real life telling of the field. We also took trips to different departments around Cincinnati, one of them the Police Training Academy. Plus, with being one of the highest ranked research schools in the United States, I have already gotten involved in research assisting to help broaden my view of the psychological field.
Am enjoying being here I absolutely love the University of Cincinnati. Coming from a more rural town, the urban feel of the city really was a change that I enjoyed. The city always seems to have something to do. It might seem like the campus is quite large, but you can get anywhere on it in under ten minutes. There are plenty of restaurants, and I absolutely love the recreation center. The only downfall would be the wind in Cincinnati.
Bang for the buck I believe that Cincinnati is worth the amount of money that I am paying for the school overall. The dorm pricing is a bit high in comparison to some places, but overall it is not bad. I believe the amount I am paying for the education I am receiving is easily worth it. Plus, with all the extra activities that is sponsored by the school, along with the state of the art recreation center, it is well worth it. Especially for part of my major in Criminal Justice since it is the 3rd highest ranked college for it in the United States. Along with that, it is also one of the top engineering and art schools around.
Tips for prospective students I would say to get involved with the campus. You can always cut back after the first semester if you don't feel like you have enough time for everything, but you might as well see what you enjoy doing. Don't be afraid to go out and talk to people. Put yourself into social situations, and join a learning community. It might sound cheesy, but it really dose help you become more welcome in the society of the campus.
Great for these types of students Art students, research students, criminal justice students, Engineering students, and anyone looking for a campus that has an electric atmosphere.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot At the University of Cincinnati, professors take the time to get to know their students. I was surprised at this fact because of the size of the university, but even my advisor knows me by name outside of his office.
Am enjoying being here Cincinnati is a brilliant and fun city to live in. It's full of things to do and places to go. The campus itself is also extraordinary, with limitless resources and study areas as well as places to eat and hang out with friends!
Bang for the buck The university is one of the cheaper schools in Ohio, but that doesn't make it less reputable. The faculty and staff here are really great and willing to help you with problems you might come across. They take the time to know students on a personal level if that's the preference of the student. The campus has its own police force for the students safety. The only complaint I have about this school is their cost of housing, which is pricey. The good news is, there are limitless off-campus housing options after the freshman year, which I have taken advantage of.
Tips for prospective students If you are thinking about attending the University of Cincinnati, I would highly recommend visiting the campus at least once to get a feel for the atmosphere. This was the true deciding factor for me. Once I stepped foot on the campus, I knew I would love it there, and I hope you have the same experience in your college search.
Great for these types of students This college is great for students who are looking for an academic environment that still allows for lots of fun on and off campus! It's a great place to meet lifetime friends and make connections for the future, and the campus is so diverse that anyone can find a place they fit. Good luck with your college search!

Categories Rating Comments Will enjoy being here I just visited this campus and all I was speechless, the campus was beautiful. Many kids think that its in the ghetto but it really is not and they have a lot of campus security. The bowl-shaped football field being in the middle of the campus was awesome, made it seem more of a college where you can actually get the college experience.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I was happy to find that most of the professors at UC really know their stuff and they are willing to help if you don't understand them on the first go. I usually go on the website rateyourprofessor.com where you can look up potential professors and see what other students thought about them. It has helped me a lot with finding professors that I click well with.
Am enjoying being here I love Cincinnati, I think its a great city with a lot of different things to do. UC is one of the prettiest campus in the United States. I love that you have old building and the new modern builds intertwined. I makes the campus so unique.
Bang for the buck I think Uc's tuition is reasonable. It's easy to apply for scholarships and to get financial aide.
Tips for prospective students Live in the dorms the first year! You will meet so many great people and get a chance to experience the campus.
Great for these types of students Uc's campus is very diverse so i think is accommodates a wide range of students. I think this is easier for people to find a group where that they fit in with.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Being an engineering student, I have had 18 credit hours almost every quarter. Which sounds like a lot, but it's not as bad as you think. It keeps you busy and you learn a lot.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus, especially the football stadium that you can sit in whenever you want. There are plenty of things to do around campus every week.
Bang for the buck Being an out-of-state student, tuition is significantly higher. However, I believe it is totally worth it. There are many scholarships that you can apply for and everyone makes you feel welcome.
Tips for prospective students Get involved on campus through student organizations and activities. I know that everyone says that, but I am apart of the UC Bearcat Marching Band and I came to school on the first day knowing a ton of people. It's great to walk around and see people you know. Also, live on campus for at least the first year. Interacting with people on your floor and in your building gives you a way a ton of new people that aren't necessarily in your major.

Categories Rating Comments Will enjoy being here I attended orientation last week, and despite all of the college orientation horror stories I've heard about from friends attending different universities, I had a great experience! Our SOLs were enthusiastic and made it easy to participate and meet new people, and the incoming freshmen were friendly as well. The whole process was easy, the people were friendly, and there were many clubs and activities to sign up for to start in the fall. UC has a great social atmosphere and makes it easy to be involved!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am definitely learning a lot at UC. My general ed classes were somewhat interesting sometimes not, but as I get more into classes in my major, Food & Nutrition, I am really excited about the topics and courses. My professors are all easy to talk to and are available to any student needing help.
Am enjoying being here I love the city of Cincinnati! It has a lot to offer from the zoo, to restaurants, movies, bars, art museums, Newport and Covington. Although the school is located near a not so nice neighborhood, Over the Rhine, there are plenty of good areas located around the campus, such as Clifton gaslight and Northside.
Bang for the buck Tuition is a little high somewhere around $10,000 per year. I've taken a few classes nearby at Cincinnati State, and that has definitely helped lower the cost some, while still obtaining my degree from UC. Be smart about where you buy your books, the bookstore on campus and Dubois are usually the most expensive. I've found amazon to be a great source for textbooks, usually around half the price.
Tips for prospective students Explore! The city has so much to offer. Although it might be scary or unsafe to venture around certain places, it is worth it to go on a walk or ride a bike around the city. There is so much to do downtown from fountain square, coffee shops, and Findlay Market to hanging out in northern KY.
Great for these types of students If you like a urban setting, don't mind large classes and are up for some adventuring around the city, this is the school for you!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot University of Cincinnati is a great campus. The teachers try their best to do what they can to help the students. They have office hours for students to attend and will answer e-mail questions as fast as they can. There are also other sources that can be utilized to better your learning experience at UC. There is tutoring, supplemental instruction sessions, and some classes have teaching assistants that will help you with your learning experience. Overall, it's hard to fail with all the resources provided at UC.
Am enjoying being here University is a great campus and there are lots of activities to get involved in. There are sports games to attend, sports you can play for fun or on a team (such as the football team), swimming pool, workout equipment, restaurants, shopping, a fun night life, and much more.
Bang for the buck University of Cincinnati isn't a relatively expensive school, but it might be more than someone is willing to pay. If you like all of the things I listed that there is to do, and what I wrote about the academic learning experience, then UC is a bang for the buck!!!
Tips for prospective students Don't be scared to meet new people. There are thousands of new people you will encounter at the University of Cincinnati, so a person can't be shy. It's time to step outside the bubble and make new friends.
Great for these types of students UC is great for students who are looking for a small, yet plentiful campus. There is a lot to do and many people who you can become friends with, yet the campus isn't huge like Ohio State University. The professors are great and there are plenty of ways to get help with your academics.

Will enjoy being here I'm born and raised a UC Bearcat fan so I know I'll enjoy being here. Everyone is so energetic and so passionate about everything they're involved in. It's been my dream to march with the UC marching band.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The learning environment at the University of Cincinnati is phenomenal. Like any school, it has its glitches, but for the most part is very supportive of the needs of the students. I will be entering my fourth year in the engineering program and I have yet to encounter a class where the professor was not more than willing to schedule office hours to accommodate the needs of every student who wished to take advantage of them. And even then if you are having difficulties with your studies, there are teaching assistants for just about any class that are also always willing to help out when they can, and there is also a learning center for necessary tutoring. The academics at UC have been wonderful to me, and there is always a chance to expand on your knowledge and learn something new.
Am enjoying being here Not only is the campus beautiful, but there is never a dull moment in Cincinnati. Here at UC, you get the city experience without necessarily having to live in the midst of an incredibly crowded city like LA or NYC. The campus is small enough that there is never too lengthy of a walk to get from class to class, but large enough that you will never get bored. Within walking distance from campus, there are a plethora of places to eat, as well as multiple bars and social cafes for those boring weekend nights. There are also so many different things to get involved in; if you can name it, there is a club for it. And even if there is not already a club or group supporting your interests, you can take it upon yourself to start one yourself! There are also very active sports teams, and many places to just hang out and have fun around campus so there should always be something to occupy your spare time if you want to get involved. Though a good deal of people claim the school to be in a dangerous area or some similar jargon, the school is not dangerous for anyone who isn't doing what they shouldn't be doing anyway. Sure, it's probably not the safest idea to be walking down Vine Street at 3 A.M. by yourself, but why would you be doing that anyway? As long as you have your wits about you, you should never run into a problem. Cincinnati can definitely supply any prospective student with all the college experience has to offer.
Bang for the buck The bang for the buck is dependant on the comparison you are making. As far as public schools in Ohio go, UC has a rather pricey tuition, especially if you choose to live on campus. However, going to UC is much cheaper than almost all neighboring private universities, and I would venture to say that the education you would get here at Cincinnati would be equivalent to or greater than the education you would receive at any other school in the area. UC is an accredited research university, where some of the most intelligent engineers and researchers in the nation reside. The school is ranked as one of the nation's top public research universities, and is an institution with a rich history in discovery and innovation.
Though tuition may seem rather pricey compared to some of the other public and technical colleges, what UC has over most of them is the cooperative education program. For those majors that offer a coop option, I would highly recommend doing so. It adds an extra year to your schooling, but you get to make pretty good money while in school to help pay for those nasty tuition costs, and even better, you get real world experience to throw on your resume for after you graduate. So even if the school seems a little pricey, the coop program could provide you with a good way to help lower the costs while also helping you decide if your major is really a good fit. I would deam my education here at UC to be worth every penny.Tips for prospective students The best piece of advice I can give anyone is to not be afraid to ask questions. Professors set up office hours, TAs set up office hours, and the college provides you with a learning center, all to provide YOU with the resources you need to succeed. College is an entirely different ball game than high school, and if you don't understand something immediately you should always ask. There are no bad questions. Everyone is at college for the same reason - to learn. So do yourself and your classmates a favor, and ask questions.
Also, as a new student, Learning Communities are your friend. I was skeptical about joining a learning community, but decided to join anyway, and did not regret it at all. These will provide you with a great way to network with other people in your major and make friends and form support groups. Especially good for those students coming from out of state that will not know anybody coming into college, I would definitely recommend joining a learning community, as I believe it will make your first year much more enjoyable like it did mine.Great for these types of students This is a difficult statement to make because it is hard to say that UC is great for just certain types of students and not others. As far as academics go, the college shines in engineering, music, performing arts, criminal justice, and DAAP (College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning). If one of the aforementioned fields is something you intend to pursue a career in, then UC may be a good choice for you. UC is also a good school for someone who wants to move out and get the college experience in a city setting without necessarily having to move to a big city. I think the university provides the perfect blend of city life and campus life to make any one's college experience enjoyable. But while I have found this college to be a perfect match for me, you should never discard your options when choosing your school. You could be spending the next 2-7 years there, so take your time and do your research to ensure that you are choosing the right college for YOU.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I'm very optimistic about attending UC. They are one of the top ten engineering schools in the nation and with their co-op opportunities I know my studies will flourish.
Will enjoy being here The campus has many activities to participate in and I can't wait to attend them.
Bang for the buck I was able to get all my tuition covered leaving me with around 7,000 left over that was needed.
Tips for prospective students Work hard and focus on what you want.
Great for these types of students Students who are genuinely interested in their education will flourish at this institution.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I love how all my professors take extra time to really work with me if I need any help. They really take the time to get to know me and understand my work ethic. They answer all my questions and give extra advice on how to improve my work. Some professors are not going to go out of their way to help me if they know I have been skipping class or not putting in a lot of effort.
Am enjoying being here There is so much to do around campus. There are buses that will take students to downtown Cincinnati, Newport, Kentucky, and also their off campus housing. There is an on campus cinema that plays new movies and our recreation center is open late on weeknights that has two gym courts, two swimming pools and a hot tub, a rock climbing wall, and a full gym facility. There is always something going on around campus.
When I first stepped on UC's campus, I knew it was where I wanted to go to school. I was surprised how clean it was and it is absolutely beautiful. There is a lot of architecture that you won't find at any other school.Bang for the buck You definitely get your money's worth. The gym is included in the tuition and there are many different dining options. There is free transportation to wherever you want to go and most everything is free.
Books would probably be the most expensive thing. If you know you're going to have to use the same book more than once, definitely buy the book. I wish the dining halls were cheaper because I have never used all my swipes on my meal plan and the dorms need more lighting that what they have.Tips for prospective students Get the lowest meal plan. You get a certain amount of swipes and rarely anyone uses all of them. There are so many restaurants around campus that you will want to try so getting the lowest meal plan will help save you money. Get involved around campus, it's almost nearly impossible not to. Take advantage of anything that you see is FREE. If you like football and plan on going to the games, spend the 50 dollars and get season tickets, that way you are guaranteed a ticket and don't have to wait in line.
Get involved in a learning community. You'll be surrounded by people who are in your same major and it comes as a huge help when exam week starts getting close.Great for these types of students The University of Cincinnati is great for students who want to go to a large school, but not be overwhelmed. There is always something to do, so students who want to be involved on campus, this is the perfect school for them. Students who want to major in any type of art should definitely apply for DAAP. Our Engineering program is fantastic as well as our College Conservatory of Music.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am currently in the Criminal Justice Program at the University of Cincinnati. Rated number one in the nation, I am learning the newest and most unique material the Criminal Justice field has to offer. Most of my professors currently do research within the field and directly bring the research they complete into the classroom. This information is the most up-to-date current information making my degree the best it can be.
Am enjoying being here I LOVE being at the University of Cincinnati. Last year I lived on campus and between the state of the art recreational center, delicious food, and spacious residence hall I could have not enjoyed it more! My parents had to beg me to come home one weekend a quarter to see them! The university has over 305 on campus organizations for students to get involved in, club and intramural sports, and a lively nightlife in Mt. Adam’s or in downtown Cincinnati. The professors are so helpful and kind and I have yet to meet a student I do not like. Everybody is down to earth and friendly. Cincinnati is also a great city with many enjoyable places to visit like King’s Island, Newport on the Levy, and Fountain Square.
Bang for the buck The University of Cincinnati has the second highest public university tuition for in-state Ohio students. It is still relatively cheap for college tuition but it is going to rise each year because of renovations and budgetary concerns the university is facing. On campus housing is pricy as well because you have to purchase a meal plan. The meal plan is well worth it though because the food is AMAZING! Students can get 132, 164, or 209 “swipes” per quarter, which will allow you into 3 different on campus dining centers. 1 “swipe” gets you all you can eat! Most teachers are concerned with students buying books though. I personally did not spend over$300.00 on text books last year because my teachers offered the books online or at the library. This was VERY helpful!
Tips for prospective students Visit campus! The University of Cincinnati has one of the most beautiful and unique campuses around. I promise it will amaze you. Just recently the University of Cincinnati was ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the top ten most beautiful college campuses in the world. Also apply early. When prospective student apply early they are given an opportunity to be entered into various university scholarships, I can honestly say almost all of my friends receive some sort of scholarships from the university. Lastly, do not be scared of what people say about the safety of the university. The University of Cincinnati is a large, urban university and crime is bound to occur however the university has taken the necessary precautions to provide adequate safety measures to all students. There is Nightwalk (Student led organization were volunteers pick up students and take them to were they need to go), Bearcat Transportation Systems (student bus system that transports students around the greater Cincinnati area), over 200 on campus help phones, and the second largest police force in Hamilton county.
