Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot if you want it, in some way, ole miss offers it. there's nothing ole miss cant teach you
Will enjoy being here oxford is a small town with big city life. The people are friendly, it's a clean city, and it's a football town. The town supports the school, and everyone loves the Rebels. It truly isan amazing place
Bang for the buck Whatever it is, if you're in-state, or out of state like myself, Ole Miss is worth it. It has everything you could want.
Tips for prospective students VISIT CAMPUS. i was not a fan before i actually went to campus. i have visited Baylor, Arkansas, Texas, LSU, and ULL, and no where gives me the warm-fuzzies like Ole Miss. its different than anywhere you can ever go.
Great for these types of students looking for a small school education, and a big school weekend atmosphere. the student teacher ratio, 17:1, is the size of Rhodes or Vanderbilt. The Grove on game day is the #1 place to tailgate, and you cant get that anywhere else. go visit! go rebs!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Wow! My first year at the University of Mississippi has been a blast!! I can't hardly believe my last final will be tomorrow! I have learned so much! From my EDHE class, to my Biology! Even things I thought I already knew have been broadened; just be being apart of the diverse group of individuals, that make up The University of Mississippi.
Am enjoying being here From ASB elections, daily polls at the union, campus events (like the black and white ball), Raves at the library, Ford Center performances, Grovin' in the University Grove on game day, FOOTBALL games with previously No. 4 Ranked Ole Miss team, and just the campus, it is a blast! Ole Miss is the perfect place to be! Come be apart!
Bang for the buck Oh yes! Ole Miss is one of the most ecnomical state universities in the US. Definitely consider The University of Mississippi for that. All of my teachers have gone out of their way to be certain that I was gaining, and was equipped with all of the tools and information I needed to make my learning experience the best possible.
Tips for prospective students Don't be afraid to ask you teachers questions, thats what they are their for, but that goes for every university.
For Ole Miss, be apart! Get out there! Go to football games! Drag a friend along, even if you didn't finish your home work. All ways make time to see them rebels play!
Also, consider going greek and joining a panhellenic fraternity or sorrority! Ole Miss has some of the most acclaimed greek societies in the country!Great for these types of students The University of Mississippi is a unique, close-knit environment. It is a small campus, so everything is nearby. Even if your late for class, it will only be 2 minutes late!
Don't underestimate the campus though. It has ALOT to offer. They have squeezed SO much important useful things in the small acreage is rests upon, it will take you your entire 4 years to discover what all it has to offer... and then some!Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ole Miss has offered me an experience of a lifetime. The Honors College is ranked very highly nationwide as well as the Lott Leadership Institute and Croft Institute. Every class is designed to allow a student to learn as much as possible and the professors are very welcoming and act as though they want their students to do their best. It is very likely that a student who goes to Ole Miss will be very happy with their academic opportunities.
Am enjoying being here Ole Miss is an amazing university to attend. Even the city of Oxford opens many great experiences for a college student to enjoy. Everyone I have met around campus and in town have been very friendly and welcoming. The campus is absolutely beautiful and everything is easily accessible. The Student Programming Board entertains with movies every month and there is always something to do on campus. Whether you have a car or not does not matter because the university buses travel the entire town and make living on or off campus enjoyable as well.
Bang for the buck The University of Mississippi is a university surrounded by success. Whether through the alumni or current students, Ole Miss is represented by outstanding people. It is because Ole Miss has so much to offer academically and through activities that it is worth the cost. Although it is not as expensive as most, Ole Miss definitely is worth every penny.
Tips for prospective students Anyone who is looking to go to Ole Miss needs to get involved. Ole Miss has so much to offer and getting involved helps make the experience that much more amazing. Getting involved includes but is not limited to student organizations, it also involves talking to professors. The professors here are always willing to help and introducing yourself allows them to recognize you and notice that you are serious about your education and are wanting to get the most out of your education.
Great for these types of students Ole Miss is a great university for all types of students. If you are looking to get a top of the line education, you can find it here. Ole Miss is known as the Harvard of the South for a reason. If you are looking to have some fun while in college, Ole Miss offers that too. Whether it is participating in student organizations, Greek life, or nights on the town, Ole Miss is the place for you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ole Miss is considered the Harvard of the South, and it's no joke. It may be easy to get into the school, but it's not super easy to stay in. You definitely have to do the work and plan on learning to time manage and avoid procrastinating!
Am enjoying being here Oxford is an AMAZING town. The food is great, there are many local boutiques to shop at, and the night life is unbeatable.
Bang for the buck At Ole Miss, you get a top-notch education at an extremely low price. Additionally, they're very generous with scholarships as long as you take the time to apply. Even as an out of state student, I'm paying way less to attend school here than I would at many of my in-state universities.
Tips for prospective students Even if you're just a tiny bit interested in Ole Miss, TAKE A VISIT. Many people will say that just one time on the campus and in Oxford was what made them decide to attend school here. Also, apply for the Honors College! It's a huge perk because you get priority registration for classes. You also get many opportunities to make connections with future potential employers.
Great for these types of students Involved, social, outgoing, interested in Greek life, focused, hard workers

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Ole Miss is just another college. Sure you'll learn something, but it's nowhere near the level of schools like the Ivies and Stanford, Duke, or Vanderbilt. Harvard of the South? Not hardly. I don't think you can get into Harvard with a 15 on the ACT and 1.6-yes you can get into Ole Miss with such credentials.
Will enjoy being here For me personally I wouldn't enjoy being here, but people that enjoy parties, raves, ect. will feel right at home.
Bang for the buck Since it's the #2 party school in the country, I think the word bang should send a clear message. Ole Miss is fairly cheep when stacked against other public universities. The trade-off is job seeking power. You can get a job with a UM degree and you can get positions as a doctor, lawyer ect. in the South. But mega-law firms on Wall Street aren't recruiting from Ole Miss and won't be anytime soon I think. So be sure that if you come here you don't want to leave the South.
Tips for prospective students Be sure you have the minimum requirements to get in. When you get here be sure not to party too hard. Because believe it or not you can still flunk out here.
Great for these types of students Students that really don't want to be Mr. Big Shot on Wall Street and are happy to remain in Mississippi, Arkansas, ect. Also it's good from students that like to party and want be athletes.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot If you try hard and keep up with your course work you will be fine. Some teachers are great; others can be kind of boring.
Will enjoy being here There are a ton of opportunities to get involved and a ton of different organizations to join.
Bang for the buck I have received enough scholarships to cover everything.
Tips for prospective students Get involved and meet people. Academics are important, but you need a full college experience and Ole Miss will provide that if you want it.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Some teachers are really tough and some are a joke.
Am enjoying being here There's lots to do on campus and also around the town in Oxford.
Bang for the buck As an out of state student, the tuition is rather ridiculous. But if your scholarships cover all your expenses, then go for it.
Tips for prospective students Apply early and fill out that scholarship application. You'll increase your chances of getting free money.
Great for these types of students Self motivated students who know how to strike a balance between socializing and school work. There's plenty of parties going on, but you can't go to all of them and expect to have good grades.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences the university of mississippi is placed in the heart of true southern hospitality. the school is beautiful and have some of the best staff you can find. the classes are competitive and tough but that's what makes the school a good one. partying is a forte for students but we're also very intelligent students.
Tips for prospective students begin here. it's a hard transition for most students who attend community college first due to the academic nature.
Academic Rigor harvard of the south definitely describes the school well. plenty of reasons that is the perfect name.
Dorm Life ehhh, okay. they're building new ones and knocking down old. some of the new ones are extremely nice.
Food and Dining mostly fast food is offered on campus in the union but there are a few other places to eat on campus for fresh food.
What to do for fun the town of oxford, mississippi is a very small one. there is a movie theatre and the town square offers locally owned (and expensive) places to shop and good world renowned restaurants. the night life is a very large part of the life of oxford.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the grove!! it is a tradition to tailgate and hang out and party there before all football games. it's 10 rolling acres spread through the middle of the campus and is always packed full of people. william faulkner's house and grave offer for some old traditions.
Great for these types of students to be honest, mostly at ole miss are students who are rich. other students can find places to fit in but they are typed as rich and preppy typically.
Clubs and Activities it can be a little overwhelming at all the clubs and activities. something for everyone, literally.
Greek Life very large at ole miss. nearly everyone you meet is greek affiliated.
Campus Safety there is a special force of cops only for the university plus the town police. they are on horses, bicycles, dirt bikes, motorcycles, golf carts and cars. there are safety booths everywhere so in case of emergency can be pressed and set off an alarm and alert the authorities. campus always feels safe and nightly plenty of people are out enjoying the grove or out for a run.

Am enjoying being here The campus is beautiful and the people are all very friendly. There is always so much to do between the football games and tailgate in the grove to going to frat parties or just hanging out in Oxford Square
Bang for the buck Living in Oxford is so much cheaper than living in New Jersey. You can do a lot of things for very little money.
Tips for prospective students If you aren't from the South, be open minded. There is nothing better than going to a big Southern school for college. Ole Miss has a sense of tradition that I know I wouldn't have gotten in a East Coast school.
Great for these types of students Students who like to be busy and meet a wide variety of people from all over the country.

Will enjoy being here It's a beautiful campus, with a beautiful student body. Everyone is friendly, so long as you are as well. It has a sort of small town, home feeling. I always enjoy visiting.
Bang for the buck It's definitely worth the money that you're paying for. It's not too expensive yet I know I'll learn as much as I can, and I'll have a good time while I'm there.

Will enjoy being here I love the campus and I love the South. I am from the Southwest, but the South feels like home to me. Both the school and the town look like they have a lot to offer.
Bang for the buck It seems reasonable when compared to other out-of-state tuition rates.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Ole Miss has a lot to offer, and their advanced courses are difficult but interesting. They will definitely push you.
Am enjoying being here The Ole Miss campus is beautiful. There is not too much to do, but if you're mostly studying, there are plenty of things to fill your free time with.
Bang for the buck Ole Miss is a little expensive, but it gives you the best of both worlds as they say. It's a big school and a small school put into one.
Tips for prospective students Although some people go to Ole Miss to party, it is a serious school. They have an excellent pharmacy, pre-med, and law school to start. You should be prepared to work but know that you need to have some fun sometimes, and people will most definitely help you have fun.
Great for these types of students Serious, hard-working, dedicated

Tips for prospective students Come visit Ole Miss and experience amazing!
What to do for fun Go shopping or out to the square!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The grove- a 5 acre field in the center of campus. Tailgating was invented in the grove.
Great for these types of students Social, active, friendly, down to earth.
Clubs and Activities Ole Miss offers every type of involvement you can imagine.
Greek Life We are known to have one of the hardest rushes in the nation. Ole Miss is a huge greek school. You need to go greek to get the full experience.
Campus Safety Police are always on campus. I have never felt uncomfortable to be alone on campus.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot This school is usually known for its party atmosphere, but if you get into the right classes, especially the Honors College, you can learn a lot from this school. The professors whom I have talked with seem very educated and enthusiastic about their job, which usually means they will ensure that you will learn everything that you need to know and more.
Will enjoy being here I felt at home on campus, which is very beautiful with tons of trees and large areas to hang out with friends or study on a nice day. Everyone I came in contact with was very friendly and helpful.
Bang for the buck I believe that this school has a reasonable tuition price for today's standards. The school is well-kept as far as nice buildings and cut grass. The teachers are well-educated, helpful, and want to make sure that the students are learning. Also, I believe that most people will fit in somewhere. The four years spent at this school, making memories while learning, will be worth the price.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The University of Mississippi has a highly qualified staff. All of the different schools on campus are equipped with faculty that are passionate about the subjects they teach. Being in a classroom with teachers that are interested in their subject provides an excellent learning environment. The professors also make themselves available for help outside the classroom as well as suggesting additional resources that will help with mastering course material.
Am enjoying being here Oxford is the perfect college town. It is full of history and includes unique and interesting shops, restaurants, and local establishments. Aside from Oxford's charm, the University of Mississippi campus is absolutely beautiful year-round. The Ole Miss family is also very welcoming. From being in the Grove during football season to the person sitting next to you in class, the Ole Miss community helps anyone feel right at home.
Bang for the buck The University of Mississippi is definitely worth the money. It guarantees to put its graduates in the best position for finding jobs, being accepted into graduate and professional schools, and being prepared for whatever future faces them.
Tips for prospective students My best advice for prospective Ole Miss students is to be prepared to study. The curriculum can be challenging, but it is doable. Another piece of advice I would give is to learn how to balance. Oxford, and Ole Miss too, offer numerous opportunities for clubs, on-campus organizations, and other extracurricular activities, but if you get too involved in outside activities your grades will drop. It is most important to learn how to balance school and fun, which varies for different people, and the sooner you do the better.
Great for these types of students Ole Miss is great for students interested in studying medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, accountancy, business, law, public policy, journalism, etc. It is great for students who want to go to a university, but not one where they will get lost and just become a part of the crowd. Ole Miss is a small community, but it is still big enough to not feel constrained.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning alot from the teachers I have. They are hard if you do not try or study basically for some classes you may have to teach yourself. Do not think English is going to be easy in college because it was in high school that is a big mistake I made. Be prepared to think and work hard. But another plus is teachers will help you pass their class with letting you do work over and turn it in for a brand new grade which is personally great!
Am enjoying being here On the campus it is never boring every day their is some sort of entertainment in the union or something going on. On the weekends for home games it is pretty full and awesome to go to the grove. And most people go later to the Square or other places.
Bang for the buck It is worth the money which is alot. Be prepared to come to the University and pay for everything pretty much. That is the only negative thing I find is that the student pays for pretty much everything. Make sure if you plan on coming here to get scholarships to help with books and extra money in your pocket.
Tips for prospective students The tips I have is when you come to college do not try to overload yourself with hours you have plenty of time. Get everything handled before you come to college as in financial aid so you don't have to stay in the offices. Because they do be full especially at the beginning of the school year. Learn how to balance partying and studying or that will be the death of you figuratively speaking. But basically just have your head on right and don't rush.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who know how to balance personal life and school work. And students that are willing to work hard and have a great college experience at The University Of Mississippi. HOTTY TODDY!!

Bang for the buck You will surely see everything you've paid for being put into place, because every cent spent will only be utilized for you benefit.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared to work hard. Have a lot of fun. Enjoy your first, second, and third Grove experiences.
Great for these types of students This university is great for well-rounded, ambitious, studious students. Also students are ready to look at things from a different perspective, and learn to appreciate new ideals about almost everything.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I have just finished my freshman year at Ole Miss. It is a GREAT place to learn. I have never felt like I am just a number there.
Tips for prospective students 1. Apply early.
2. Beware of deadlines and send in all your required documents in
plenty of time.
3. Go to the earliest Freshman Orientation sessions to ensure that you
get the classes that you want.Academic Rigor I am a Mechanical Engineering major so my courses are a little more challenging that usual, but if it were easy...well it would be easy. I don't know how to compare it academically except to say that I am learning so much more than I ever imagined was possible. The professors are very helpful, so don't hesitate to go to them.
Dorm Life I commute because I live just down the road from Ole Miss. When given the choice of living in the library or living at home, I decided to save a bunch of money and live at home.
Food and Dining There is a wide variety of eateries on campus. The food in the cafeteria is really good. Because of the ethnic diversity of Ole Miss and Oxford, MS, there are endless possibilities when it comes to food.
What to do for fun There are so many things to do on and off campus. Whatever your interests are, you can usually find something you like to do. Students and faculty at Ole Miss are very involved in the community, and there are enless opportunities to volunteer and give back.
Bang for the buck Ole Miss is often listed as one of the best universities for the money. Because of so many wonderful donors, Ole Miss is able to stay competitive with its many state of the art facilities on campus.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Though very rooted in the Southern traditions, Ole Miss demonstrates a very modern view. They strive to look to the future. The best way to make friends at Ole Miss is to simply remember two words, Hotty Toddy.
Great for these types of students There is a very large population of International students at Ole Miss, and every effort is made to make everyone feel at home when they are there. The university and surrounding areas are very welcoming.
Clubs and Activities Though I have only been at Ole Miss for one year, I have noticed that there is a wide variety of organizations and activities on campus. There seems to be something that would interest just about everyone.
Campus Safety The University of Mississippi Police Department work tirelessly to keep everyone on campus safe. It is considered one of the safest college campuses. They immediately send out alerts to let you know if there are any problems, and then send out additional notices to keep you informed. Safety is very important at Ole Miss.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Ole Miss is a university where you can get a quality education but still have fun. You will be able to meet people from all over the world and people from almost every state. Everyone is very nice and you will have no problem fitting in somewhere.
Tips for prospective students Leave all of the negative cogitations about the south at the door. As an African American from the northern part of the United States, I was treated with respect and I never had a problem.
Academic Rigor If you are coming to Ole Miss as a Language major, then you will be in for a lot. I am a Chinese major and we have homework due almost every week. The other classes are not to hard though. It just depends on your strengths and weaknesses.
Dorm Life Most of the dorms are traditional style dorms, meaning a whole floors shares a bathroom or two. I would of liked it more it the bathrooms were cleaner. There are cleaners who come and clean the bathrooms but they only clean once a day and no one cleans on the weekends. I found myself cleaning the stall before I used the restroom.
Food and Dining There are many food and dining options on campus and off campus. There are many fast food places but there are also 'white table cloth' places. I found myself eating mostly on campus because I had a meal plan. I mostly ate at the Subway on campus because Subway is my favorite but there are other places, like the JC which is buffet style and Burger Studio.
What to do for fun Most of the fun happens on the Square. There are many clubs and other places on the square. The clubs are very strict about ID. There is not fooling the bouncers or sneaking in. There is also a movie theater, skating rink, and other places to go if you are not a club person. There isn't really a mall but there are many clothing stores and small boutiques for shopping.
Bang for the buck It is a bit expensive for me but I feel I am getting a quality education, especially when it comes to my Chinese studies.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus At the football games, everyone dresses up in their Sunday's finest. The girls wear skirts and heel and sometimes big hats. The guys wear nice slacks and a dress shirt. The Grove is a place where the tailgating happens. It's pretty fun but you might have to deal with some drunks.
Great for these types of students It's great for students who want to be in a Greek organization, want to learn about different cultures, and just want to get a great education.
Clubs and Activities There are so many clubs and organizations. I am currently a mentor for the Cultural Connections Program. This is where we help the international students adjust to the American University life. It is a great program.
Greek Life Greek Life is HUGE on Campus. Almost everyone on campus is a member of a fraternity or sorority. I am one of the few people on campus not in one.
Campus Safety Our campus was voted the 8th safety campus in the United States. Our campus police are always around, you will always see them walking or driving around campus. Also, the county sheriff's office is down the street from the school.

Categories Rating Comments Academic Rigor Many of the classes are very difficult to get A's in, but if one goes to class regularly and takes some time out to study, passing is not usually very difficult.
Dorm Life I stayed in the dorms for one year. I was on the eleventh floor of Stockard Hall. It was ok. The only real problems were the odd smell of the bathrooms and the unreliability of the elevator (to my knowledge the elevators have since then been replaced),
Food and Dining The Johnson Commons food is okay, but easily becomes tiresome. There are a variety of food options in the Student Union and more, such as a Papa John's, are slated to open in the Fall 2012 semester.
What to do for fun One can go to the Square (small downtown area) and go to the bars or restaurants there. There is paintball 20 miles down the highway.
Bang for the buck This institution is one of the cheapest for what you get, in my opinion. The graduate schools are relatively low cost compared to their out of state counterparts.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Grove during football season is a sight to see. It is the culmination of over a century of tradition, good and bad. It is the epitome of tailgating.
Clubs and Activities If you happen to find that there is no club for you, you are into some strange things - as there are clubs for just about anythings. There is even a ninja club. Don't fret, though. The Associated Student Body is often happy to sponsor, to some degree, any student club or organization.
Greek Life There is a very immense Greek presence on campus.
Campus Safety There have been very few incidents involving any students on campus being harmed.

Tips for prospective students Pay attention to the student body, not what your tour guide is telling you.
Academic Rigor Show up to class, and you'll to fine.
Dorm Life Stay away from Kincannon, and Guess.
Food and Dining Stick to the Student Union.
What to do for fun The square is a really great weekend hangout
Bang for the buck Over priced for the lack of amenities.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The Square is the weekend night life. But during football season, be ready for the grove.
Great for these types of students Preppy, wealthy, attractive, and outgoing.
Clubs and Activities Greek life is what its all about.
Greek Life HUGE part of Ole Miss life.
Campus Safety very safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I absolutely love the University of Mississippi. I attend the DeSoto campus and it is so convenient and affordable. The teachers and staff are so nice and helpful. I could not ask for a better school to attend.
Tips for prospective students My best advice would be to study hard and do not take advantage of instructors' kindness. They are very understanding, but when you take advantage it only hurts you in the end.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The University of Mississippi, best known as Ole Miss, is amazingly beautiful. It holds the values of family close to heart. Everywhere you go, there's a happy and smiling face that just welcomes you warmly.
Tips for prospective students For prospective students, although you might be nervous stepping onto a college campus such as Ole Miss, don't be nervous. The people here at the University are welcoming anyone and everyone with open arms. Giving you an experience like no other is what we are all about here. It's easy to connect with everyone here especially when getting involved.
Academic Rigor Academics here at the University are highly important. Our top programs are Pre-professional programs (Pre-medical, pre-dental, Pre-nursing, etc.), Biology, pharmacy, law, journalism, and even intensive Chinese. Many students take academics here seriously. Most people you meet have big plans to do something with whatever they major in as I do.
Dorm Life Dorm life, in my case, is fun. The dorm I reside in is co-residential and it gives an awesome experience for freshman. The Residential College and the Luckyday Residential College are also co-residential and also some of the newest dorms here on campus since about 2007. Some of the other dorms are not co-residential, but are still up to par even though they are not as new. In July 2012, the new dorms being built will be ready for the new incoming freshman. They are in for very nice complexes.
Food and Dining The food and dining here is good, not great, but good. The Johnson Commons is one of the main places on campus that most students eat. Students believe that the JC needs to improve, and if they are listening, improvements will start to begin soon. Students also eat at the student union which most students would prefer because they have Subway, Chik-fil-a, Burger Studio, Zoca, Magnolia Kitchen, Toss It Up, and coming in the fall, Pinkberry and POD Market and POD Express. Students want more healthier options to eat and snack on campus. Since the food and dining department is moving with a new company, healthier options will begin to be available starting in the fall.
What to do for fun Oxford is home to many restaurants and the popular in town Square. In the Square, you have many restaurants, bars, clubs, book stores, and even frozen yogurt. Students enjoy going there on the weekends after a long week of classes. During the fall, football season begins and there's the biggest prime of the season: tailgating. The tailgating here is huge on football Saturdays and students enjoy dressing in Sunday attire to attend the festivities which is highly fun.
Bang for the buck Some options on-campus are a bit pricey, but yet, the Associated Student Body and its president, Kimberly Dandridge, are working very hard to make improvements on that within the next year.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Ole Miss is deep in tradition. We have something called the Rebel Yell or best known as the Hotty Toddy cheer. The phrase Hotty Toddy can be used among Rebel fans alike to greet each other or either just cheer like this: when someone screams are you ready? then everyone responds, hell yeah! Damn right! Hotty toddy gosh almighty! Who the hell are we? Hey! Flim flam bim bam Ole Miss by damn! We also are known for our tailgating. People tailgate religiously here during football season. The Grove is a huge piece of land in front of the student union and in the middle of campus which is filled with hundreds of red and blue tents filled with thousands of Rebel fans alike. It's an experience you'll have to see for yourself.
Great for these types of students Ole Miss fits any type of student mostly. Like I previously said, the University is very family oriented and will welcome you like a brother or sister anytime, anyway.
Clubs and Activities There is so much to get involved with while on-campus. Associated Student Body, Green Dot Violence Prevention, and other kinds of clubs and activities are all around to get into. Even off-campus you can find something interesting to do. You can even start your own club or activity that would seem interesting to students.
Greek Life Greek life is a huge part of Ole Miss students lives. About 20% of the student population is affiliated with a Greek organization. To lessen the pledge classes in some of the sororities, the campus is soon adding a new sorority which is great.
Campus Safety University Police Department is a top priority on this campus. They try their very best to ensure the safety of students. They will even give you a ride back to your dorm if you're coming from the library or somewhere late at night. They want to give a safe and warm environment for students.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The University is a great school for those that seek out the superb academic oppotunities available ( e.g. the Sally McDonnell Barksdale College, the Croft Institute, etc). Yet without these the University would just be a regular run- of-the-mill State University with an exceedingly gorgeous campus.
Tips for prospective students If you are there for a party you can find it easily, however sometimes it seems as if the academically rigorous things are hard to find. If you are a student you looks for a challenge be sure to become well acquainted with the faculty and staff that provide such challenges, they know who to direct you to. Additionally be wary of Oxford's charm, while it is blindingly beautiful and wonderful at times, it can be a strain on the pocket so if you are looking to save a buck Oxford's renown square might be a place to avoid until one can avoid the cover charge for being underage.
Academic Rigor It's there you just have to be willing to seek it out.
Dorm Life Definitely not the best but not the worst. The since of community in the dorms is great if you are lucky, but if you are the quite introverted type it can be a strain. Still, there is no place like the dorms that provides such a high chance for increasing friendships and acquaintances.
Food and Dining The food on campus is what one would expect from a campus cafeteria but the food off campus can offer a much wider variety. From Greek, Japanese, Thai, and well known Southern cooking the eateries on and near the square or on Jackson Ave. provide a good plethora of options.
What to do for fun Hang out with friends at Sardis Lake at Night, eat ( really this can be fun), go to the Square occaisionally to barhop or check out the music acts playing around town. Generally, grab a Local Voice and see what's happening.
Bang for the buck Definitely not the most progressive place in the world but it does provide a quality education comparable with several larger known places when one takes academically rigorous courses of study.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Be sure to find out about the doorknob to the universe and the secluded nooks of the library- they are great for sleeping. Also, so are the couches in Byrant Hall.
Great for these types of students Partiers, the academically inclined, basically the University can handle nearly any type of student.
Clubs and Activities There aren't as diverse a selection of clubs as many other campuses at smaller Universities elsewhere seem to provide, but with its location and the tradition of the campus, clubs and activities for many people are existent if not all that plentiful. However the colleges and many ethnic/art clubs do provide a great source of things to do and see.
Greek Life The Greek Life here is notorious. The few cultural Fraternities and Sororities are not highly visible-sadly-but the Greek Life that is seen definitely provides a source of community, at times too much.
Campus Safety Alerts about the isolated incidents of open theft, robbery, etc are promptly given, no major issues known of outside of a panty thief

Tips for prospective students be prepared for football games--they are amazing. nothing is better than waking up saturday morning and cruising the grove. also prepare for greek rush--it's a big deal.

Dorm Life it all depends on who your neighbors are. it can make life amazing or awful.
Food and Dining the best breakfast is at magnolia kitchen and really good turkey sausage at the jc. there are a lot of options for meat lovers, a fair amount of choices for vegetarians, but little completely vegan options.
What to do for fun whatever you like, you can find it here. the turner center is the greatest part of campus and the groups are endless. sports, church, exercise and gaming clubs can be seen all over campus all the time.
Bang for the buck i am from out of state so i have to pay a little more to get there but the school so beautiful, you won't mind. but i feel it is reasonably priced.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus hotty toddy--learn it! always remember--we're not snobs, we're just better than you! william faulkner lived here.
Great for these types of students students who want a school that is well known yet small. it is very picturesque and has the grandeur of a small private university with the money of a large state university.
Clubs and Activities i can't even name a fifth of the stuff offered here.
Greek Life rather big here. this year, the sororities had nearly 2000 girls rush. i suggest doing it because it is an experience, even if you decide not to join an organization.
