Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning to be more independent while at the same time gaining a very valuable education in a safe setting. Not only am I learning good study habits, I am also learning about time management. The professors and staff here really care about their students and are willing to go the extra mile if you need help. With all the free tutoring available on campus it would be very hard to fail a class.
Am enjoying being here I love the campus. It isn't so small that I feel I am missing out on what a bigger campus might have to offer, and it isn't so big that I feel lost, either. It is just the right size to offer everything you could possibly want in a university from student organizations to athletic events to other activities and recreation.
Bang for the buck All colleges and universities are expensive, but I feel the education I am getting at UNI is a good one. It has several majors and minors to choose from with six different major colleges.
Tips for prospective students Make the most of your college experience. Get involved early on. Study hard and ask for help if you need it. Most of all enjoy the new friendships you will make.
Great for these types of students Those wanting to pursue an education with the hope of getting a good job after graduation.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are tons of different classes and majors to choose from. The Liberal arts core helps you decided what you actual want to be and makes you a well rounded student.
Am enjoying being here There are lots of different clubs and activities you can get involved in. Almost every collage has there own club and living in Residence halls helps you meet a lot of people.
Bang for the buck Out of Iowas three state schools it is the best. It has the smallest class sizes, so you don't get lost in a mix of hundreds of other student.
Tips for prospective students Don't let having fun get the best of you your first semester.
Great for these types of students Free thinkers

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I have visited campus a couple times. Both times I got the feeling that I would be able to learn a lot on campus. Right now I am living at home and attending another college. It is challenging because I am not close to the library. There seem to be many areas around campus that are quiet and would be good study spots.
Will enjoy being here There are many places to go to have a good time. I am very excited to transfer here. I have many friends that go here and they all love it. They say the town is very nice and has many different activities to participate in on the weekends.
Bang for the buck Out of all of Iowa's state schools, this one is the cheapest. First of all, the tuition is the cheapest. Second of all, any football, basketball, wrestling, or other sports gatherings you wish to attend are free to students. At both of the other state schools you have to buy tickets for the season in order to go to the games. I am looking forward to all of these opportunities.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend to keep up on the readings for every class. Get the readings done before class so you can use the class discussions as a review. Also, get involved in extracurricular activities from the very beginning. Take advantage of opportunities that arise. Use the activities to meet new friends. Make the most out of your college experience, and most of all, have fun!
Great for these types of students Great for students looking to go into a career in education.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i actually attend uni through a dual enrollment program, so i am technically in high school and also a freshmen at uni. uni has been good for me as a bridge from high school to college as it is a smaller school. when i really do go to college, i plan on looking for a uni-sized school. i just don't want to go to uni because i have lived here my whole life.
Tips for prospective students do a lot of research. research for your majors, research on your classes, and on your teachers. as a dual enrollment student, i only get to pick from classes that are still open after all the other uni students are enrolled, so i have had a few boring teachers and less than satisfactory classes. just make sure you don't get into anything you can't get out of.
Academic Rigor uni is challenging, if you find the right things to do. if you only take 3 or 4 normal level classes per semester and don't do anything else, you've gout your above average gpa set. if you really want to challenge yourself, uni gives you that opportunity. try the honors program and join some academic clubs. if you want to stretch your mind, the only person that can do it is yourself.
Dorm Life honestly, i don't have an opinion for this because i live off campus as i am still in high school. but, cedar falls is a great town, ideal for college students. make sure you have a car, though, because while we do have some public transportation, it's really not that good. i have seen some of the dorms before, and i think it's pretty average. best bet: live off campus--it gives you more freedom.
Food and Dining it's mostly ok. most students go to the union to eat and once you've gone there about 10 times in your life, you're pretty much done. there are some buffet places on campus and the 23rd street market to buy food at, too. i'm just not one to really like campus food in general. cedar falls and waterloo, however, have tons of places to eat, so i stress again how important it is to have a car.
What to do for fun uni actually does have a lot to do, but only if you look for it. there are posters everywhere and most of the teachers are involved in some sort of society or club, as well. cedar falls is a good community, and there are lots of ways to get involved by volunteering.
Bang for the buck general tuition is pretty good for in-state students. there's a big difference between uni and the other state school, that being size. if you want a small state school, uni is the best pick... not u of i or iowa state.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus sports... tailgating before uni football games... i absolutely love the beginning of the school year in the fall as there is just so much to see!
Great for these types of students -like small schools
-average class for gen ed is about 40
-like to know everybody, i have seen people from last year in my classes again this year, and it's just gen ed's
-want to take the time to better yourself (if you don't care, that's ok, too, but then what's the point of going to college?)
-don't mind iowa's crazy weather (extremes: summer=too hot, fall=too windy and it changes every 10 minutes, winter=too cold, spring=too wet)
-like they say in iowa: if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes.Clubs and Activities there's really a lot to get involved in, so much that you need to watch out and not overload. there are people out there that are similar to you, and finding them is easier when you join a group.
Campus Safety i personally know someone who works for the campus police and they do a good job at sending escorts when you need them at night. the only thing is that uni police love to give out parking tickets, so be aware.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here a very helpful. If you ask for help they'll help you. They don't make you feel stupid if you don't get it. Chances are, you're not the only one who doesn't understand. I've learned a lot my first year here.
Am enjoying being here UNI is a great school. There's great art programs that go on throughout the year, the classes are easy to get involved in, there are many different clubs and activities you can become a part of, too. The residence halls are nice and it's easy to make friends, especially if you live on campus. I love it here, and I'm glad I decided to come to school at UNI.
Bang for the buck Compared to a lot of other state universities, UNI doesn't cost as much for what you get. With tuition and room & board, you get free access to the WRC (the school's work out center) and the Health Care Center. You also get free admission into the school programs like plays and musicals and music concerts, and discounted tickets on other concerts and programs that happen at UNI's Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. You also get in free to the sporting events (Go Panthers!).
Tips for prospective students Get out there and get involved. It's easy to do and it's even easier to make friends. College is a thing you have to enjoy to do well at. Pick a major you like and just have fun with it. UNI is a great school and the advisors and professors work with you and help you make it a good experience.
Great for these types of students UNI is great for all students. The UNI campus is beautiful and sometimes reminds me of a small-town community. If you get tired of the same thing just walk a few blocks or drive onto University Avenue and you'll get the bigger city feel. The University of Northern Iowa helps you succeed. They give you the opportunities needed to do your best no matter what type of student you are.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a Freshman, I have been taking mostly classes from the liberal arts core. Some of the lectures can be big, the largest contain about 200 students, however, professors have office hours that you can come in and get help or they are usually good with meeting outside of office hours as well. One great thing is in the business school there are no TA's so you are getting your education from the professors themselves.
Am enjoying being here UNI is a medium sized school with a lot of instate students. It is a suitcase college, meaning lots of people bring cars and leave on the weekends which can be hard for meeting new people, but if you get involved in different organizations or in different dorm activities you are bound to meet some people you share interests with.
Bang for the buck UNI is reasonably prised, especially for instate students. Even though it costs a little more for out of state residents, it is still worth it.
Tips for prospective students Get involved and find something you are interested in. Leave your dorm room door open when you are in so that people stop in and can you make more friends. Attend some game; the Interlude dance is becoming popular and is so much fun to participate in!
Great for these types of students If you are looking for a medium sized school. Great teacher to student ratio. Smaller or urban type city.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My learning is being benefited by the educators here at UNI. The teachers are really good at getting their information acrossed they will also take as much time helping you understand any problems you have, which makes you understand want you are learning and I think that is the best thing for me. The teachers push me to try harder than I have before this is making me learn lots more information as well as new things about myself as well.
Am enjoying being here There is always something going on whether its a sport activity, hanging with friends, clubs, and meetings. There is always someone around that enjoys doing the same as me. That is what makes UNI enjoyable you find people that you have more incommon with than in high school plus if you live in a dorm your friends are mainly a door away.
Bang for the buck College is expensive anywhere you go but at UNI I think it is worth it. They have many different programs and activities that you get in bonus to just paying for school. One program they have is the 2-year advantage plan which locks in the rate for room and board as well as meal plan so if prices go up you can still pay last years lower rate which in the end saves you money. Another good thing UNI offers is free tutoring which you can find for about every subject and the tutors can help you study for a test or even on your homework this is nice because you don't have to pay anything at the time of the visit. The last thing is you get in free to all the sporting events as well as the rec center which is amazing to some.
Tips for prospective students Have fun with everything that you do. Don't be shy just be the person you want to be and make as many friends, they will make life alot easier and more fun.
Great for these types of students UNI is great for students who are going into teaching or business majors. It is also great for students who like small classes but have enough people where you don't know everyone and everyone doesn't know your whole life story like people did in high school.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students These guys don't seem to care if they get new students or not. I received a phone call recently, with the caller asking if I was interested or not in attending. Well, the caller sounded so bored and not enthusiastic at all. I hung up on them. UNI, if you happen to read this, take care in choosing your recruiters. I had no desire to join your school in the first place, and now I am certain of my well-made decision.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences It's very welcoming, and the campus is beautiful. The teachers love to help you, so stop by and talk to them just to be polite or to get help. There is so much to do, that you will never ever get bored.
Tips for prospective students Definitely design your schedule early, because classes fill up extremely fast. Meet as many people as you can, and don't be shy. Get involved as soon as possible, so you will have more fun.
Dorm Life Living in the dorms has been one of the best experiences. I encourage everyone to at least try it! You will not regret it. The people and experiences you have are amazing!
Food and Dining The same food is offered frequently, and sometimes gets old. But it is so nice to not have to cook or clean up after yourself!
What to do for fun You can go out on the weekends to many clubs that are a lot of fun. You can join clubs and take fun classes. They have many fun on campus activities with free food and music that are a blast!
Bang for the buck It's definately priced right. It's not a super cheap college, but it is a University and the quality of teaching is excellent!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus We have campaniling. You'll have to experience that for yourself. It's necessary to go to some of the games, because they are a lot of fun also.
Great for these types of students Active, Smart, Funny, Foreign. I believe it works great for all.
Clubs and Activities Right now I was in the American Marketing Association, Economics Club, and the Real Estate Club. You need to get involved. It's definately worth it to at least try!
Greek Life I believe we have a total of 11. There is around six sororities and 5 frats. Everyone that I know that is in them love them and have continued to stay with it.
Campus Safety We have tunnels that are safe to walk under so you don't accidently get hit by a car. We have emergency buttons all over campus and video cameras everywhere. It's a really safe campus!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The University of Northern Iowa is a very quaint and well structured campus/university. It has the small campus feel with the academic and social standards of a much larger one.
Tips for prospective students Go visit the campus and see how it feels to you. If you like the feel of it, then I can't see how you won't like it after you actually start there. Get involved in clubs right away and make the most of your college experience.
Academic Rigor I have been challenged in all of my classes there and have learned a boatload in my first year at UNI. The teachers I have encountered thus far have been spectacular. They are very approachable and love to help their students out outside of class too.
Dorm Life Everyone is really friendly which makes it very easy to make connections and meet new people in and around your dorm. The rooms are decently sized and the facilities are always kept respectably clean.
Food and Dining The two dining centers are pretty good, but general consensus says that Piazza is typically better than Rialto. There are also many different small restaurants around, including your big name ones as well.
What to do for fun You can get into most of the UNI athletic events free of charge with your student ID, unlike almost every other university in the U.S.A. So those are always a good choice and their teams are always competitive, it makes for a pretty good time.
Bang for the buck The quality of education I have received thus far there is well worth the price and can easily compete with many of the other bigger universities around the U.S.A. Your standard of living also is pretty good here, nothing is really overpriced I don't believe.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There are very many homecoming traditions such as campaniling where everyone goes to the campanile at midnight for a kiss with their significant other or whoever they may find there. The Hill and Main Street is where all the nightlife is located at and usually you can have a good time there.
Great for these types of students Students who like the small town feel on campus would enjoy UNI. The student population isn't extremely large so you have the opportunity to see and get to know personally a large number of other students around campus.
Clubs and Activities There are a huge variety of clubs and activities to join. There really is no excuse for not being able to find one to participate in because there are so many, almost all possible areas of interest are covered. The study abroad program here is absolutely amazing, so many opportunities to go all over the world and they make it easy for you to do just that.
Greek Life There are a few sororities and fraternities, but it does not have the Greek life that many other universities have to offer and it is not a main focus in campus life.
Campus Safety There are very few instances of violence, theft or vandalism. It is a very safe and secure setting to got to school and live in.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The University of Northern Iowa has a small school feel but has lots of opportunities to offer. The teachers are always willing to help if it is needed.
Tips for prospective students To keep on top of all homework and to study as the class goes along.
Academic Rigor Biology does not have much homework but there is a lot more to study for and all the tests seem to be grouped around the same time.
Dorm Life Dorm life is fun. It allows me to study in a quiet enviornment when I need to and socialize with new people.
Food and Dining The food at the school is good. I enjoy the Papa John's pizza on Tuesdays.
What to do for fun There is a lot to do in downtown Cedar Falls. Everything that is needed is on main street along with a mall.
Campus Safety The school feels safe. There seems to always be campus security around and other people.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UNI has a very friendly and beautiful campus. Although not all of the teachers are not phenomenal, there are definitely at least a few in each department that are. It is a nice, compact campus where nothing is ever more than a ten minute walk.
Tips for prospective students DO YOUR READINGS on time, keep up, and ask if you do not understand anything. Teachers are here for you, and are always willing to work with you to meet up and clarify material. Look up teachers on rate your professor online!
Academic Rigor It seems to me that a handful of the liberal arts core classes that everyone must take are actually harder than major courses. I have a 3.5 gpa and struggled through a few. But most teachers are not that ambitious with their students.
Dorm Life I lived on campus all four of my years here and have loved it. The dorm has really become family and home.
Food and Dining In the words of my father, It's like you're living in a country club!
What to do for fun There is a cinema with 8ish screens, there is an ice rink which I love to go to, there are always activities on campus that will be in emailed newsletters, and there are a few parks around town to hang out at. Also, most dorms have a movie club and tv lounge.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus studying on top of the student union
Great for these types of students all kinds
Clubs and Activities There is a club for EVERYTHING, from chess and math to pirates and spanish disney movies.
Greek Life NA

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences The University of Northern Iowa is an outstanding school that offers diverse organizations and programs for all students. Here you will find challenging opportunities and hard-working professors that care. The University of Northern Iowa could easily become your home away from home.
Tips for prospective students My advice for prospective students is to engage in campus activities and get to know all the incredible college students. I would also recommend going to classes. Your professors care and are willing to help you at all costs, so if you put in the hard work and time, you will succeed and reach your desired major.
Academic Rigor The University of Northern Iowa challenges each student to their full potential, but also provides professors to encourage you along the way. The academics at this institution rate highly because of the outstanding programs that each faculty member, student, and administration put their time and effort into.
Dorm Life Soundless nights of sleep, neighbors that become your family, comfortable living space, and fun activities are what can be obtained while living at the University of Northern Iowa. Dorm life is relaxing on weeknights in order to ensure a quiet atmosphere to study, but resident assistants and the Senate Committee plan exciting events on the weekends to get you engaged and meeting new friends!
Food and Dining Rialto and Piazza Dining Centers offer a diverse food selection to incorporate all types of specialty food. Various options are offered each meal time to ensure each student finds at least one food they desire. Healthy eating choices are also incorporated into every meal.
What to do for fun Cedar Falls offers wide variety of options to entertain all ages from laser tag/miniature golf to line dancing, shopping malls, fun restaurants, and walking trails around the Cedar River.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus The University of Northern Iowa gives each student the opportunity to be involved in the Traditions Challenge. At orientation each student is presented with a notebook containing all sorts of activities, contests, and sports games to be a part of during their UNI experience. At graduation a medal will be presented to the student if he/she took pictures and document their experience doing each tradition's challenge.
Clubs and Activities Do you play sports, participate in a club, or need help with studies then there is a spot here for each student eager to be involved on campus. From ninja study club to intramural sports to Senate, organizations are offered to meet the interests of every student on campus.
Campus Safety UNI has its own police force on campus and an escort system in the evenings for any students walking back across campus alone.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences at uni, you will feel at home. everyone is very friendly. the food is great!
Tips for prospective students i would say to definitely figure out what major you want to be before coming here. i notice that while it is easy to switch majors, it may put you behind if you want to finish in four years. also, attend the football games, the basketball games, just go to anything public. the students here, even the teachers, are very outgoing and fun. there are many things to do on campus, and i would definitely get involved with anything that interests you because you meet so many awesome people. one last thing, keep up the grades from the start. it is very hard to raise your gpa once it has fallen. give it your all from the start and you will do great.
Academic Rigor i wouldn't say that it's particularly hard here. but it is college and things are much different than what it was in high school. if times do get tough, there are tutors available and teachers will happily help any student that ask for help. the library also has many rooms you can rent for a few hours if you need to do some studying. if one was in need of relaxing, the rec center has a place for getting massages which always helps me.
Dorm Life live in the dorm your first year! you meet tons of people and there is always something going on. each week the ra's will have a program that is either playing a game, going out somewhere as a house or even just going to dinner together. also, there are dorm wide events where anyone in the dorm can participate. one that is very popular are the raves that campbell hall has. they're super fun.
Food and Dining the food is not bad at all. its set up like a buffet style restaurant. you can submit recipes to their facebook page and they will test it out and if they like it, they will serve it for everyone to try. there is usually something that you'll want. we have a pasta area, a sandwich area (similar to subway), a fast food type area, pizza, desert and a home style area. so, like i said, there is always something that will tickle your fancy.
What to do for fun i've touched base a little on things to do but there is so much more. we are located right next to what we call the hill. here, there are a few bars, if you like to go out, there are a few places to eat and about two or three places to get tattoos and piercings, if that's something you're into.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus one thing we do during homecoming is what we call campaniling. this is where, when the bells start to ring at midnight at the campanile, you and your significant other, or another single person that is there, kiss. there is a legend that the person that you kiss during this time is who you will end up marrying.

What to do for fun there are plenty of clubs, intramural and campus activities too keep you busy. there is the hill the bar and business strip for the weekends. cab and cats always has something for entertainment, movies, shows artists speakers and little parties.
Bang for the buck it is one of the best priced schools in iowa. with tuition you get into the wrc (wellness center) for free, the health center is free, all sports games/meets for free, also many of the shows and concerts are free for students.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus uni has the traditions challenge that lists all of the traditions on campus, many people strive to do all of them before graduation. some of these traditions include kissing under the campanile on homecoming, doing the interlude at a sports event and many more fun things.
Great for these types of students it is t he iowa teaching college, great for students who like to be able to go home on weekends, but also fun for students who like to stay and have fun. there is a huge list of different majors to choose from.
Clubs and Activities there is a club for anyone and everyone.
Greek Life it is small, but that makes up strong. i am in the alpha xi delta sorority at uni, and we are the largest one on campus at 60 girls. there are four fraternities, and four sororities.
Campus Safety campus police, security cameras, small size, late night safe rides, emergency buttons, all around a very safe campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences uni is the a college small enough to reach you on a personal level yet big enough to provide plenty of opportunities for you. to reach you on a personal level, uni provides you with the ability to meet with your teacher conveniently one-on-one. for the big opportunities, you are guaranteed to find an organization that fits your interest.
Tips for prospective students it is crucial that you get involved in college. not only will you meet new people but you may even find the perfect major for you.
Academic Rigor the coursework is challenging yet achievable. most courses want to help you expand your horizons and to give you a well rounded educations.
Dorm Life you must get involved. if you try to spend all of your time studying or working and no time socializing with your dorm buddies, you will find yourself drained and upset most of the time.
Food and Dining there is a wide variety of options at rialto and piazza dining centers to use your meals at. take your meals to go at cafe on the way or dashes. you are also able to go to prexy's for your dining dollars. if you're hungry late at night when everywhere else is closed, biscotti's and 23rd street market are available as convenient stores. most of the dining opportunities are connected to dorms through sky walks for added convenience in winter.
What to do for fun myuniverse will send out emails for week and weekend activities to get involved in. cab provides entertainment through movies in the union. there is also a variety of entertainment opportunities just off of campus that are within walking distance.
Bang for the buck uni is well worth the money for tuition and room & board. compared to other colleges i applied to as a senior in high school, uni made the most economic sense.
Clubs and Activities i have been involved in at least 5 different clubs in the past and each one has provided me with an opportunity to meet new people that share the same interests as me. i strongly recommend getting involved at uni.
Campus Safety there has never been a time that i've felt unsafe walking around campus, even if it is 2 am. i have not had to use them, but emergency stations are very conveniently spaced and provide emergency help.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The University of Northern Iowa deserves a five star rating. Professors genuinely care about their students and make sure they understand the material. Classes are interesting due to passionate professors who make learning fun and applicable to everyday life.
Am enjoying being here There are always events going on around campus, making daily life far from boring. Whenever students need a break from studying or just need to have some fun, all they have to do is look up CAB events and see what is going on that night. There are countless clubs to join, whether for athletics or hobbies. Plus, you can start your own club if you aren't satisfied with all that is currently available.
Bang for the buck UNI is worth the money, and isn't nearly as expensive as a private school, with just as good if not better professors. Even in big lecture halls at UNI, professors can call out students by name in a class of 300.
Tips for prospective students If you are looking for a GREAT college education that doesn't cost an arm and a leg as well as a perfect size (not too small and not too big), then choose UNI. There is a sense of community but it's big enough to not feel like high school.
Great for these types of students Any high school student that is planning on attending college must be ready to study and have a yearning to learn and do well. UNI college life is fun and full of events, but college is college no matter where you go. You need to work hard and take time to study and do homework.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I have no doubt that you will learn a lot. They have the best business school in Iowa. However, if you are not there for business or education, I would advise that you not go there. If you graduate with some other degree from UNI, you will be laughed at to your face at job interviews.
Will enjoy being here It seemed like a really small campus, and I liked the tight knit aspect of it. However, I don't know if I would really like to go there, I'll need to check it out again.
Bang for the buck It seems like they do a very good job of giving financial aid. I don't think it would be too expensive for most people to attend.
Great for these types of students Education majors, Business majors

Categories Rating Comments Academic Rigor i'm in some really easy classes or classes i have already taken before. next semester will prove for me to be a challenge however.
Am enjoying being here There is no other school I would want to be at! I love it here and I have made so many friends.
The only thing that sucks is being nearly 3 hours away from home and no car. But it's worth it.Bang for the buck i didn't get much scholarships but i was able to pay for my education in loans and one simple grant.
Tips for prospective students get scholarships! don't wait like i did until it was too late unless you really want to have to pay off the loans. don't judge a school by it's football team. if you want to go to a state school for medical, go to uofi. want to go to agriculture or engineering? go to isu. what about education, music, and psychology? come here to uni.
good luck in your college search!Great for these types of students education majors, music majors, psychology majors, communications majors, business majors

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot I spoke with a lady at a college fair, she gave me every piece of information she had. This college is very well rounded in all areas of study.
Will enjoy being here It is a very active campus, and there is something to do for everyone with all of the different clubs and sports.
Bang for the buck UNI is very reasonably priced, and they have scholarships specifically for out of state students.
Tips for prospective students Most expensive does not equal the best.
Great for these types of students Theatre students!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have been learning a lot in my math classes and education classes, it has been very beneficial. I also learned how to be a more effective communicator along with ethics in communication.
Am enjoying being here I love it here. Even though I don't live on campus, I am generally on campus from morning until like 10:00 PM because there are so many events/activities that go on throughout the week. It isn't too big and it isn't too small and all of my professors for my classes have done a great job teaching. I have also been able to connect with other Christians on campus through Intervarsity, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, BASIC Plus, BASIC, and Navigators. There are so many ministries and campus clubs/organizations that one can get involved in.
Bang for the buck Tuition isn't bad compared to other 4 year universities. Community colleges are probably less expensive, but those are also only for two years. Books might be expensive, but can rent them for cheaper on CampusBookRentals.com. Plus, one can find jobs on or off campus to help pay for tuition/school supplies/room and board/food/etc.
Tips for prospective students You might want to take a campus tour before classes start. I didn't know there was a computer lab in the bottom level of the library until my second semester here. I also didn't know about the computer lab in the bottom of Maucker Union or about La Vida, which is a coffee shop where one can get free cookies, free smoothies, and free coffee on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Great for these types of students I believe this college is great for students who are majoring in teaching, mathematics, science, accounting, business, marketing, agriculture, communiation, special eduation, and many other programs. It also isn't too big of a campus once you get used to your surroundings and most classes aren't too big.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The quality of the faculty and staff is absolutely fantastic. It's hard not to notice that the professors are not only exceedingly talented educators but also have a true care for their students. This makes it easier to connect to the teachers, and having a good teacher can make all the difference in the quality of an education.
Am enjoying being here Campus life at UNI is incredible! The entire atmosphere at UNI is warm and welcoming, and there is always a way to get involved with others. With the variety of clubs, organizations, and athletics, it would be a challenge to get bored here.
Bang for the buck Although college education is not an expense to be taken lightly, I cannot help but feel that I am getting more than what I am paying for at UNI. The tuition is simply not as bad as so many other schools, yet with the astounding faculty and amazing campus life, they would have every reason to be. Still, the cost is not too hefty. UNI is definitely the perfect fit.
Tips for prospective students College can be a very overwhelming change, but at UNI, support is all around you. My biggest tip is to not fear the change but to embrace it. You are embarking on a new journey, and we are all here for you. Also, visiting a school can make all the difference. Schools feel differently when you are at them versus how the look on their website!
Great for these types of students I would say that UNI is for students who want a high quality education for an affordable price, all the while having the support system of a strong college family--the whole campus! In other words, I think that UNI is a great fit for a variety of students, and if anyone is considering the school, they should definitely come up for a visit and check it out!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot One thing I really like about UNI is their consistency to excel students in every way possible. The professors are great and always willing to help students when they can. The University provides all sorts of majors to choose from and tutor centers for those who need extra help in class. I have learned a lot in my classes as well as with myself.
Am enjoying being here The very first day I moved onto campus was great. I was so worried about the experience living with a complete stranger, but the projects and group meetings we had really helped me to express myself in ways I never have before. The campus is not too small and just big enough so that I could meet someone new everyday. I have always felt comfortable at UNI and I wouldn't change my decision to become a panther for anything.
Bang for the buck All students who have been accepted to a college or university understand that it doesn't come cheap, but at the University of Northern Iowa, I know that the money I spend to get a good education is worth it. There are always opportunities such as career fairs to help me stay on the right tract to find a great job after graduating.
Tips for prospective students Always ask questions! Going to a college or university can be very overwhelming, but never think that you are the only one who doesn't have everything figured out. Being a college student isn't always perfect, it comes with a lot of stress and responsibilities. Just remember to take time for yourself and have a little fun.
Great for these types of students The University of Northern Iowa is open and welcoming to any kind of student. They understand that everyone is unique and different in their own way, and they want us to express that.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot After a meeting with the Doublebass professor, Hunter Cappocioni, I received calls from the head of the School of Music, the professor of percussion, the orchestra director and the marching band director. Obviously this is a tight-knit community of educators and students. In the forty-five minutes I spent taking a lesson from Dr. C, I learned more about my technique than I have in two years of private study. I can not provide a review of the non-music educators, but the music program is obviously very strong and a great place to be!
Will enjoy being here During my visit, I met two students, Joel, a member of the double bass program, and his girlfriend, Erin. Erin is a trumpet player and a campus tour guide. They were extremely friendly and both had nothing but great things to say about student life. Truly kind people who seem excited to have new students! Like I said, the music program seems extremely tight-knit!
Bang for the buck If you're a high-ranking student, you can easily receive scholarships from this school, especially from the school of music. I'll most likely be attending for less than $5,000 in tuition a year for out of state.
Tips for prospective students Visit campus! As soon as I stepped on campus, I felt completely at home. You really can't know if you love a school until you're there, so visit!
Great for these types of students MUSIC STUDENTS!
The music and fine arts division is simply the best that I've found here in the midwest.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This is definitely a very good school to go to, especially for an elementary education major. The teachers are very personal and understanding. If you are having problems in a class, you can meet personally with the professor, or go to the tutoring center for free. Most of the classes are small sizes, around 20-30 people. As an education major, you get to start your field experience as early as freshman year.
Am enjoying being here I love the size of the campus. It's small, but not too small. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from one end of campus to the other. The campus feels very safe. Because the college is smaller than other state colleges, you really have to make an effort to meet new people.
Bang for the buck Most of the classes in your major field are very useful and actually interesting. Most of the dorms are nice and a good size. The dining center has good food, and there are many options, but the food does get old after a while. Overall, I feel I am getting what I am paying for.
Tips for prospective students Join some kind of club within your first year, or get to know the people on your floor in your dorm.
Great for these types of students Students from a larger school who want a small college experience, but don't want to feel like they are still in high school. Also, students from small schools who don't feel comfortable going to an extremely large state school.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning so much here. I am learning to be more independent while living in the residence halls as well as learning a lot about who I want to be. I love the honors program here and all of the professors are awesome. They are easy to get along with and talk to and they do a great job at what they do. The Liberal Arts Core helps a lot when it comes to deciding what I actually want to do. When I first came here I thought that I wanted to be a history major, but from taking all of the required classes I have learned that history might not be the right path for me. Overall the classes are great, the teachers are great, and the surroundings are amazing.
Am enjoying being here I love being here. I joined the Panther Marching Band and made all of my friends there. We have fun playing games every weekend and it is also great because they are just around the corner from my room! UNI has an awesome campus because it is smaller and easier to get around to everywhere and it is easy to find a good time. I have made a lot of memories here already and it's only been one semester!
Bang for the buck UNI does a great job at keeping prices low while keeping a great program. The campus is impeccably clean and the there is always work done making everything even more amazing. Sometimes I feel like I should be paying more to go here because the programs are so great and they do an awesome job at keeping them that way and making sure the students are getting what they deserve: a good education and a great living experience.
Tips for prospective students I only have one tip, and that is to have fun. It is easy to get bogged down in schoolwork, but there is always a time to have fun. UNI has a lot of opportunities for you to reach out and have a good time while maintaining a good grade point. Remember, college is supposed to be the best time of your life! You get to study what you want while having fun with friends :)
Great for these types of students UNI is great for everyone. There are so many different majors and programs that you can choose from. There are also a lot of different opportunities to do what you want. If you are into sports, there are intramural teams for practically everything. If you like band, you can join one. If you are interested in learning about something new, there are many different electives to choose from.
