Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot By having a mixture in class size I am beginning to see what works best for me. Pit classes are generally the hardest to learn in, but having a great professor makes things a lot easier. Professors are generally easy going & really are here to help you learn. They strive to learn your names & enjoy answering questions you may have.
Am enjoying being here Oshkosh has something for everyone, whether you like sports, on campus clubs, or just relaxing there is something here for everyone. You will have no problem fitting in, especially if you choose to get involved in some way. Living in the dorms is pretty sweet too. The CA's are super helpful, as well as the rest of the Residence Life staff. The transition from high school to college is a breeze, especially at UW-O.
Bang for the buck UW-O is one of the cheapest Wisconsin 4 year universities to attend. After touring other UW schools I found that for the amount I am paying I am receiving a much better education than other more expensive schools. Financial aide is readily available & often times students receive more money than needed.
Tips for prospective students Apply early, tour the campus in the fall. Try to get a private tour if possible, there are more perks. Compare this school to others, although it will be hard to find a school cooler than UW-O. Don't overly stress about your application, but take time to be thorough in it. Make sure you talk to other UW-O students too, they can be very beneficial.
Great for these types of students UW-O is perfect for students who are interested in experiencing new things. The campus is ideal for active students & athletes of all kinds. There is a club on campus for everyone, so you will be sure to find your niche.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Coming from a small, private high school in Milwaukee, I did not know what to expect from my college classes. I was stunned to learn how diverse all of my classes are and how easy it is to understand my lessons. Whenever I do have difficulty with a class, my professors have always been there to help explain what it is that I am not understanding. None of my classes have been too challenging, but they have never been too difficult, either. All the professors are also very animated and make the class enjoyable and interesting.
Am enjoying being here For perhaps the first month or so of my college experience I was very upset and lonely. I did not know a single person and I wasn't getting along with my roommate. But after meeting just one person and talking to my academic advisor my whole life has changed for the better. Not only did I change rooms, but I joined my hall government and then the United Students in Residence Hall association. I have met wonderful, well-rounded people who have made my life so much better. Now I am also the Director of Internal Affairs for that organization and get to personally help many new freshman along with returning students. But UW Oshkosh offers so much more than great friends, it offers a great education. My classes are always enjoyable thanks to my up beat teachers and staff. It is also a very safe, community aware neighborhood. The campus is small enough that everyone is united and you can always walk down the street to visit friends or go shopping.
Bang for the buck UW Oshkosh is such an exciting school to attend. There are always community events occurring and so many diverse ways to get involved and meet new people. The residence halls are also very well kept and safe. There are many measures taken to ensure the safety and integrity of the residents, such as locked resident halls to anyone without a key card, and bathroom keys for every floor. Every night there are guards at each entrance to ensure the protection of students, as well. The university itself offers a wide variety of majors, minors, and general education classes for anyone to enroll. The classes are very educational, and always appropriately challenging.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend to every student to get involved in the student government. It is a flawless way to meet new people, have fun, and help the university. It is also extremely important to be aware of your own needs and attend to them. If you are having any troubles with your roommate, your floor, or even a friend, talk to someone. Never be afraid to reach out to your Campus Advisor, academic advisor, or the professional advisors located on campus. They will always help you to fix a situation.
Great for these types of students This university is great for students looking for a way to be involved with other students and take on leadership roles. Anyone who enjoys helping those around them will feel right at home joining the different organizations who run campus life.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The classes range from pit (100-200), to large (29-100), to small (12-28). However, each class is taught by a teacher who will be more than happy to help you if you ask for it. The teachers use many different teaching methods, meaning that you'll find at least one effective way in learning the material.
Am enjoying being here I love the atmosphere here! People are really friendly and it's always nice to be able to email anyone from my classes and get a response within the next day or two saying what our homework is or with an attachment of the day's notes.
Bang for the buck It is probably one of the best UW schools and it's relatively cheap considering if offers so many programs for majors and minors.
Tips for prospective students The application process can be made easier as long as you strive for good grades and a good score on your ACT. And with a good application essay, you're almost guaranteed a spot in the college.
Great for these types of students If you like learning about many different things and don't mind different learning styles, than this college is right for you. Most teachers use powerpoints for their lectures and class. However, some still plain lectures, so make sure to take good notes.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are helpful and full of knowledge, and I'm having a great learning experience. The theatre department is especially great for hands-on learning first-hand. I've learned more about the theatre arts here in a few months than I have in four years of high school.
Am enjoying being here Oshkosh is the perfect size--big enough that there are plenty of new people to meet, and from all social groups, but small enough that it's not impersonal. The surrounding community is beautiful and full of history and culture, especially downtown Main Street. The campus itself is compact so there's no ridiculous walking distance to your classes.
Bang for the buck Of course all college is expensive, but Oshkosh is reasonably priced for the education you get. And the fitness and recreation center is included in the tuition cost already, as well as an extra interim class.
Tips for prospective students Live in the freshman village, NBC! It's a great experience and everyone is going through their first year of college together. The NBC staff is so helpful, and together everyone helps each other get through the tough parts of college.
Great for these types of students Those who want a personal college experience, theatre and visual arts majors, those looking to go into TV, radio, or film, and those who want an affordable but rewarding college.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Gen Eds at this school are not the greatest, large pit classes and very very basic lessons just to get you through the classes. However my major (Radio-TV-Film) and my Minor (Theatre) departments are very well organized and have many amazing professors with a lot of in the field experience. If communications is your ideal area of study then UWO is the UW school for you.
Am enjoying being here The student organizations and the opportunities offered at UWO are unending and a lot of fun. I am enjoying my major a lot and love all the hands on time I get. The majors are not segregated like at many schools, you get to meet everyone and have so many fun opportunities.
Bang for the buck For the cost of the schooling, other than the gen ed courses, UWO is most definitely worth the money, its fairly cheap and depending on your major you will have an amazing experience and be ready for the real world of work after you graduate.
Tips for prospective students Do not be afraid to ask questions and get help from your advisor. Look into all areas of study you may be even remotely interested in and make sure you get involved in the hands on opportunities, keep an open mind and just have fun.
Great for these types of students Radio-TV-Film or Theatre students will love this school. Any form of communications. The nursing department is very well known as well and the art department is a lot of fun. Students who are unsure of what major they want to get into.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This campus has a variety of ways to help you succeed in the classroom. First off, there are a mixture of big pit lecture halls or small size classes. If you're accepted into the UW-Honors program you're class sizes are no larger than 15 kids. Also, there are many posters hung up around school offering tutors. For me math has always been a struggle but the free math lab has tutors who are there especially for your individual math class. The teachers are always willing to help you or ask questions if you need to. Overall, this campus is a great educational UW school.
Am enjoying being here I LOVE going to school at Oshkosh. This school has many things available to keep anyone busy. From tons of intermural sports, to regular season sports, to frats and sorority and many educational clubs. One of my favorite things to do during my free time is work at at the rec center. This rec center is newly built and is huge! There is indoor basketball courts, indoor and outdoor volleyball courts, a full track, 2 studios that offer free exercise classes (which are really fun!) and a variety of exercise machines!
Bang for the buck Overall, the campus is really worth the money you pay. The only thing that I dislike about the money aspect of this college is that the food selection isn't worth the $1,200 you pay a semester. Some examples are: at one of the food locations (Reeve Memorial and Mi Taza) one single hard boiled egg is considered a side, which to me is ridiculous because another side could be chips, frys, mashed potatoes. Also, at Reeve Memorial, they are very picky at what you can add on to your meal. For example, at Titan Tacos, if you didn't want tomatos but wanted to add sour cream, they won't let you unless they charge you extra. Or on a burrito if you wanted beans instead of rice they won't allow that either. I feel that if I'm paying $1,200 a semester for food, I should be able to get what I want and where I want.
Tips for prospective students A good tip is to meet the people on your dorm floor! It's really fun to get to know everyone because you'll be living in such tight quarters for a year. Also, stay active and be involved on campus. There are many ways you can meet people and have fun. I joined a soccer intermural team and it was so fun to meet new people and try something new.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students Start everything early and make sure to look into financial aid. I am kicking myself now for not looking for scholarships sooner when I am already $10,000 in debt for loans. Also, don't take loans for stupid reasons, you will only end up regreting it.
Academic Rigor I would say it is average. I went to UWO my freshman year of college and slacked off a lot, but now I am ready to go back and do my best.
Dorm Life It's not for everyone. I thought I was ready to be away from home, when in reality I was the exact opposite. I went home every single weekend of my freshman year.
Food and Dining It was fairly decent.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i love it here now, the people are great. yeah sometimes you come around people that you don't like or get along with but that happens at every college. the teachers really know how to help you out if you ask for it and that's what i like.
Academic Rigor uw oshkosh pushes students to there full potential. they make sure every student has access to student help and knows how to use it.
Dorm Life the dorms are very small but cozy. in the freshman dorms you really get to know people because we're all freshman and we're all making new friends so people tend to leave their doors open while they're in the room.
Food and Dining there is so many different choices here. we have a huge buffet place everyday and on weekends everyone can go to reeve to pick out and order their food.
What to do for fun they have so many clubs here. if you have a new club you want to create they will help you organize it. we have intramural sports that's a great way to meet new people and get a workout in and we have a rec center that is new.
Bang for the buck discounts, discounts, discounts!! all you have to do is go into a place and show them your student id and ask if there is a student discount and most likely there is. also our meal program provides a lot of food for one meal! i can't ever eat it all at once.
Great for these types of students this is quite the party school, so if you like to party come here!
Campus Safety i feel so safe here! i am more safe here than i am at home in my neighborhood.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Oshkosh has a great campus that offers many options for students. It also has many groups, organizations and athletics for each any every students needs. I love the staff there because they will work with you on a personal level if needed.
Tips for prospective students Oshkosh is a great school, but make sure that you are going there to work. The classes make you work, but are very rewarding. Don't be afraid to ask for help; the library has a lot of help programs
Academic Rigor The academics at Oshkosh are very interesting and can be rigorous. No matter what the class is, the teacher makes sure to make it hard for the students but are not afraid to be there to help.
Dorm Life The dorms are GREAT! They are set up so that you can make friends with both girls and boys. Also, there is lounges to hang out in big groups. All together, it is a great environment.
Food and Dining The food options around Oshkosh's campus is great. They have a variety of options, from subs to pasta to pizza to salad. The thing I love most about the dining there is the buffet style. You pay for one meal and get as much food as you want and whatever food you want.
What to do for fun I like to workout at the amazing Rec and Wellness Center. There is a rock climbing wall that's so much fun. I also like to go on the trails there. There is so much to do at the University of Oshkosh and I love it.
Bang for the buck The dining hall is an amazing deal. You pay for one meal and get as much food as you want.
Clubs and Activities There are so many options!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Just like every colleges out there I presume, this is a college. It's no longer high school. If you don't keep up with your studies you will not learn. Your educational experiences and learning experiences are based on your willing to learn.
Most professors teach at a decent pace where one cannot fall behind unless you skip class for a week. Some professors are even nice enough to go one on one with you after class to clarify any misunderstanding you might have.Am enjoying being here UW Oshkosh is a decent size campus with a nice community of people. Despite being surrounded by bars everyone knows their limits and the atmosphere is nice.
Bang for the buck You get what you pay for. That doesn't mean people fully take advantage of all that they pay for. Either way, this University offers a lot of opportunities.
Tips for prospective students Just like any other campuses. It's a little boring and sometimes things might not seem exciting. That's when your imagination kicks in and your life on campus becomes interesting.
Great for these types of students It's a great university for any students I believe. For the party people, we have bars and frat houses all around campus. For the academic, we have a good library and a great student support building to help tutor students. For the gamers and those whole likes to play games, we have a good community of people who loves games.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Love the all the instructors I've had. They are very interested in every person they have in their classes and always have time out of class to help anyone.
Am enjoying being here UWO feels like home It's a great school!!
Bang for the buck Non-Traditional studetns pay about $400 extra per class and are subject to only online classes, which works for most adults, however the tuition at any WI state funded university keeps going up every year which limits allot of people from attending. Check into do your gen ed. classes at a technical college and transfer them in to pay less tuition in the end.
Tips for prospective students If your thinking about Nursing, It is very competitive and very hard to get accepted.
Great for these types of students It is a great Liberal Arts environment and Fabulous for Non-Traditional students! If your geared to going on for your Masters or PhD, are a first generation student, low income or under represented, check out the McNair Scholars Program! It pays you to do summer research and helps you get a high GPA score! McNair Scholars are th highest sought after students and often get their tuition paid!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh offers a plethora of opportunities for students of all backgrounds. The amazing professors here at Oshkosh not only care about the subjects that they teach, but care about their students as well. Here, I am not just a number on their roster, I am a contributing student to the class and I love that. I have not only learned a lot about my major and my minor, but I have learned a lot about myself as well.
Am enjoying being here There is so much to do, both on and off campus, and it makes going to college here that much better. Between the activities that take place in Reeve Memorial Union, the activities that all of the clubs put together, being involved in a club, and the off campus activities that Oshkosh itself holds, going to school here is more than that: it's being a member of this campus and being a resident of Oshkosh. Here at Oshkosh, it is very difficult not to feel welcome.
Bang for the buck It is well known that college is expensive, but once you take a step back and think about everything that is included in those already paid for expenses, you get so much for what you pay for. Free gym membership as long as you're a student, free on campus activities, many discounted items and activities, a great support system, amazing food, and an even more amazing team of professors as well as classmates and other faculty. Compared to other schools, the parking is much less in price, and that's not to mention being able to ride the city bus absolutely free along with so many more free or extremely discounted things that you can find!
Tips for prospective students Take advantage of all that Oshkosh has to offer. Go to as many on campus activities as you possibly can, join all the clubs that you have time for, and just get out there and meet as many people as possible. College is not easy, but with the right group of friends and the right support, anyone can do this. Keep your head up when classes get difficult or when you have a large course load and just keep the ultimate goal in mind: to achieve in the best way possible and graduate with the best degree you can imagine. An education here, is more than just an education. It's a lifetime of happiness and courage.
Great for these types of students While Oshkosh is most known for their Education Program and their Nursing Program, we have a phenomenal Business Program as well along with many other programs that are offered. If Oshkosh is even an option on your list of colleges to attend, give a moment's notice to all of the majors and minors that are offered because you will be surprised what you will find. Here at Oshkosh, there is a program for just about everyone!

Am enjoying being here The campus size isn't too big, but you never run out of activities to do. There's something for everyone here.
Tips for prospective students Tour the campus. It's definitely beautiful. Also submit your application early.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There are so many different class sizes which is great, after my freshman year I learned which student to teacher ratios worked best for me and having such a broad array of class sizes is really helpful in choosing classes that will benefit me the most.
Am enjoying being here Most of the professors are really nice and helpful so I'm never uncomfortable going up to them to ask a question. The campus is so beautiful, I have studied outside between classes because it's so calm and relaxing. Also, there are so many clubs and organizations to join I have a hard time choosing which ones to join!
Bang for the buck Helpful professors, a beautiful campus and a large spectrum of available classes, majors and minors really make me feel like I'm getting the most for my money. never once have I woken up or gone somewhere on campus thinking This place is such a waste of money...
Tips for prospective students I recommend touring campus early, asking any and all questions you may have during your tour and then walking around a bit on your own. Also, the university website has a place where guests can go and scope out the available classes online without any sort of registration. I used this before applying and it really helped reassure me that I was making the right decision.
Great for these types of students This school is great for any and all types of students, we have honors classes, mass amounts of athletic events, lots of different clubs and organizations and plenty of social events to go out and meet new people at.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Adjusting from high school to college is a HUGE task! It goes from daily assignments to studying, studying, and more studying. Time management and self discipline are the biggest necessities for succeeding in college. Oshkosh has wonderful professors that help their students jump feet first into the water but never lets them drown. The easiest way to get a good grade, besides studying, is getting to know the professors. They want to help you learn and succeed, that's what they are there for. Also, attend class because that's what will help you learn the most!
Am enjoying being here When I came to Oshkosh, it was like UW-high school. Everyone from my school came here with me, which made me flustered because I wanted to meet new people and get away from all the drama. However, most of those people were weeded out after the first year because they all stuck together and didn't branch out and the city wasn't for them. Coming from a big city (Madison) to Oshkosh was a big difference but I wouldn't leave! I've met some of the best people here who all share the same personality, including my freshman year random roommate, of whom I still live with three years later. There is lots to get involved with on and off campus and promise to not disappoint.
Bang for the buck Unfortunately I do not qualify for FAFSA but I have loans to help assist with tuition however Oshkosh is one of the cheapest tuitions in the entire UW system, truly getting you the biggest bank for your buck. The education is liberal, the campus is beautiful and compact with only a ten minute maximum walk from end to end.
Tips for prospective students The food is great!! There are many choices, from pizza hut to Culver's style grill food to freshens smoothies to create your own salad to blackhawk commons where its all you care to eat! Were getting two new buildings this year, a brand new state-of-the-art environmentally friendly business building with a einstein bagels eatery as well as a suite style dorm building with air conditioning and wi-fi. The recreation center is only a few years old and is FREE to all active students. There is always parking available to commuters and/or students who want to keep a car on campus or a free (with student ID) bus transit throughout the entire city. Were right on the river so fishing for the day or renting a kayak can make a warm sunny day enjoyable. Finally, Oshkosh is in the middle of lively cities: Appleton is only a 20 minute drive while Green Bay and Milwaukee are about an hour.
Great for these types of students What can I say that I already haven't! Oshkosh has been the greatest experience for college that anyone could ever imagine. The campus is close to 13,000 students but feels a lot smaller, the professors are super helpful and there is so much to do! Take full advantage of everything in college because these are supposed to be the best years of your life. Gain as much knowledge as possible and make the most of it.
