Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Just in my first year here at Stout, I have learned countless amounts of information spanning from who I am to what I learn in classes. Stout is a very technological school, when I first came to stout all I knew about computers was how to use Microsoft Word and play Solitaire. After just one year, studying Psychology, I have learned so much more about computers since we all get one from the school and use it almost everyday. The Internet brings the us all together since we can communicate with our professors and classmates and even new friends to get help on homework or plan social events.
My Professors were all really great too. They went beyond the book to help me understand certain concepts and apply what we learned in one class to a discussion we were having in another.
Stout is very environmentally friendly also. I was able to learn a lot about what will help or hinder out environment and how much what one person does can affect the whole world.
Because of interactions with all the people there, I was able to learn more about myself. I was able to take the new-found freedom i had and use it to pursue passions that i never knew i had until I went out on a limb and tried different things.Am enjoying being here I made so many new friends my first year and we all helped each other cope with the changes. My First Year Adviser was a very big help and made me learn to ask questions and figure out who i should ask the questions to. All my professors were a big help too. They were all nice and understanding of the changes we were going through but they didn't make classes any easier, they gave us enough challenges so that we could stay focused on school work and figure out how to plan our time around studying and social time. They also made class fun so we would feel like we missed out if we missed class. The campus is beautiful too, and even thought the town is smaller, there are still a lot of things that go on around campus and in town.
Bang for the buck I'm not going to put 5 stars for this since college isn't free. However, Stout does put our money to good use. We pay about the same as what other colleges charge, but there are a few perks that we get and other colleges don't offer. For instance, we get a laptop, it works as well as it needs to and there are people to go to if we have computer troubles and need help. We also get to rent our books. No worrying over buying expensive books that we will only use for one semester and then they will college dust on our desks. Here at Stout we rent our books for a semester and then return them when we are done.
Tips for prospective students There are a few tips i can give you to help you through your first year at college. First, get out of your comfort Zone. The first year makes this the easiest, just be more outgoing. No one really knows anyone else so make friends, join clubs and you will have a blast. Second, plan your time. You will have so many things to do that it's hard to keep it all organized. Find a system that works, and make sure you add some time by yourself to relax. College gets stressful but what gets you through it is friends to laugh with and the thought that all this is to prepare for your future career. It's all worth it. Third, go to class. There are times when you will just be too tired or maybe sick or just too stressed to go to a class. So go to class everyday because you never know when you will get sick and have to miss it. Keep in mind that even just a one hour class can have so much information packed into it that you will have to take much longer to catch up.
Great for these types of students Stout is a college that is great for all kinds of students. If you want to Study all the time, there are places that are so quiet you will feel loud breathing. If you want to spend a lot of time with friends there are hangouts all over town and campus for students under 21 or over 21. You should join the Stout community if you want to Get your career on track, enjoy your college life, meet new people, network, learn, and be prepared for life in the real world.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I have actually learned so much here at Stout. I took classes that I thought I wouldn't learn anything in and ended up learning so many things that will help me in the future. I also think Stout has a great learning environment. My classes were not very big and I always felt free to ask any questions.
Am enjoying being here I was extremely scared at first because i didn't know anybody and I thought it would be really hard to meet people, but it wasn't at all. I became best friends with both of my roommates and still are really close to them even though it's summer. Everyone is so open for meeting new people and it changed the way I was socially. I became more out going and less shy.
Bang for the buck I think Stout is definitely worth it. The price for the education you get don't even compare. Stout is an accredited university of Wisconsin. I feel the teachers there are very professional and always know what they are talking about.
Tips for prospective students The best advice I can give to an incoming student is have an open mind about everything. Don't judge anything before you try it because you will be very surprised and end up most likely loving it. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems at Stout. Don't be afraid to try new things either, get in there and experience it while you can because you will regret it later.
Great for these types of students Stout is great for any type of student. It forms to you in a way. Everyone is so welcoming and unbelievably nice and there is always a place for you. You almost never feel uncomfortable. There are so many clubs and sports you can get involved in. From different types of dancing to recreational activities, Stout has it. There are also many learning communities you can get involved in. I highly recommend that because you will meet so many people that share the same interests as you. Even though Menomonie is a small town, you can always find a bunch of activities to do. There is never a dull moment at Stout, unless, of course, you make it one.

Categories Rating Comments Did learn a lot The class sizes are pretty small, I typically had about 17 classmates in a typical class. The professors are incredibly nice and helpful! Since the community is a smaller one, students and professors are consistently working together. Study groups and tutors are in easy access.
Did enjoy being here So much fun! The city of Menomonie is a lot of fun and the students at Stout are too. Stout has entertainment weekly that is really great like movies, comedians, bands, etc. The night life is fun and everything is in close walking distance! Also, the Eau Claire mall is only 30 minutes away for those who yearn for some shopping. :)
Bang for the buck Stout is an accredited University of Wisconsin school. I believe that the professors there are very accredited as well. I learn alot in my first year. It is the education of a private school without the cost!
Tips for prospective students Have an open mind for new things! Stout was a wonderful experience for me and I am so glad that I got the chance to go there. Work hard, play hard. ;)
Great for these types of students This is a great school for students who like small communities and incredibly nice people! All of the professors and students at stout are so nice and welcoming. I've never met so many great people! Students who are involved with their schools will fit well with Stout seeing as they have many opportunities for getting involved. Menomonie is a very fun town! With all of the lakes near by there are many outdoor opportunities like their wonderful hiking trails, tubing down the red river, skiing on the lake, canoeing, etc. At Stout, walking is something you must enjoy! Everything is very close and most everything is in walking distance. It is very convenient! Especially for those classes that you need to get last minute tools for. As a student at Stout, I found that the most popular majors there are: fashion design, fashion merchandising, packaging, graphic design, dietetics, construction management, and hotel, restaurant, and tourism management. However these are only a dent in the amount of majors that Stout offers.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a first timer in my family to attend a four year college I was completely clueless as to what college was going to be like. I went to my classes and found them rather exciting except for maybe one or two which I ended up dropping anyway. I was terrified that it was going to be so far over my head I was never going to pass. But as I finished my first semester of college I learned a lot more about myself which built up my self confidence and changed my learning and studying habits.
Am enjoying being here Stout's campus is the prettiest one I have ever seen. The tall pine trees really hold the snow nicely during the winter time and with me being the photographer that I am it really makes breath taking pictures. The professors are extremely willing to help out the students as well make learning truly a fun experience. Another thing I really think is a blessing is the fact that there are ash putter outers twenty five feet away from all campus buildings so for those who smoke can keep it away from the doors for those who don't smoke.
Bang for the buck The campus is beautiful, the professors really care about your future, the price is lower than most colleges and the students are fair. However I'm convinced that the dorm rooms are smaller than average to which I gave this category a four star.
Tips for prospective students STUDY,STUDY,STUDY! I know you will hear parents, grandparents and teachers preach about this but its true. I never had to truly study in high school and still got good grades however I got a real shock when I realized that my normal routine wasn't enough. Several times I had to stay up all night before a paper was due to even start and finish it! Also it is a good thing to socialize but don't let people run over you. Be open about your own views, beliefs and opinions even with your roommate, if it bothers you let them know.
Great for these types of students I think Stout is a really artistic school, it has amazing Art majors as well as Construction and Buisness majors. If you have a creative side whether its with a brush, hammer or ideas, Stout is a great place for all creative and artistic minds.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Am I learning a lot? Definitely! Stout really puts a good perspective on things. Not only have I learned about my future career but I've also learned a lot about life and friendships here. The faculty really push students to do their best and be their best. I am currently an Interior Design major and I LOVE it. My freshman year was pretty brutal because there were a lot of projects all at once. At the time I was saying to myself, Really?! This is a lot of work, but it gave me a challenge and I battled through it. Some day I may have several projects at one time again, but thanks to Stout, I am prepared and confident about those projects. The one thing that I really like about stout is that it is very hands on. I'm learning/doing things that I would do normally out in the work field.
Am enjoying being here I really do love it here. I made some really great friends and really enjoy the activities here. During the school year, ya you have homework, but there is always something to do when you DO get some free time. Things like concerts, comedy shows, sports games, intramural sports, etc! The past two years, Stout had artists such as Ingrid Michealson, Quietdrive, and Motion City Soundtrack. I have some really great memories from those shows! You'll never be bored.
Bang for the buck One special thing about Stout is that they provide you with a laptop...yep...a laptop. They are up to date with the latest software and they upgrade you every two years! This was a HUGE financial help. Most places you have to pay that extra money in order to have a computer for your work, but not here! Also there is free computer help so when you're computer is being mean you can take it to get fixed. I don't know about some people, but I think this is a pretty good deal.
Tips for prospective students Don't be shy! Get out there and meet people right away. Stout has so many great students. I've met so many fun people. But of course you also need to do that thing that no one ever wants to do...lock yourself in your room and STUDY! People are not exaggerating when they say study study study! The teachers here want you to succeed. It's up to you to prove to them that you are ready and can take any curve ball they give you. There were a few times when I thought that I was ready for a test and when I got there, the test was a little bit harder than I had expected...so the trick? STUDY!
Great for these types of students One thing that I never thought I would do is join a sorority. Don't turn away so quickly. My roommate and I wanted to get more involved and give back to the community. We found our answer in one of the great sororities on campus. These groups go the extra mile to take you to the next level in the college experience. You meet fun, loving people that most likely joined the fraternity/sorority for the same reasons that you may be interested in one! I've really excelled my college experience and made some great lifelong friends. If you're looking for to meet some people and be involved in something more, a sorority/fraternity may be for you!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Stout's campus is amazing. The teachers are all willing to help you and they are all very relaxed and ask you to call them by their first name. Ammenities such as buildings and cafeteria are easily in reach for all students living on and off campus.
Am enjoying being here The only downside to the school is that it is in the middle of nowhere. It's known as a very common party-school. If you don't party, there's not much else for you to do there. Very few student activities planned and the surronding city is very small. You really need a car to enjoy out-side entertainment
Bang for the buck Stout is very well known for their hospitality program, they are probably one of the cheapest hospitality schools around, especially for instate students. Instate students get a great deal, less than 10k tuition and with room and board it's under 15k. Out of state is a little more pricey, but it is worth it.
Great for these types of students Students who do not need a lot of outside entertainment, who enjoy a laidback enviornment. It's a very good school for hospitality students, fashion students, and

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot This school has very knowledgeable and helpful professors. It has been a huge help to me in order to understand the material for the classes. By actually asking the professor questions you have can make a world of difference. I have learned a lot here and I have only been attending for one semester.
The class sizes are small and intimate. Although the lectures may seem bigger than most would like, the professor doesnt forget that you are there and they try to interact with you as much as possible as if you were taking the class in a smaller size.
I gave this five stars because I believe that the staff here really try to teach you as well as possible, they know the reason why you are taking the course, weather it be just a general or a major specific course they try to help you as much as you need it. I have learned much during my short time here at Stout.Am enjoying being here I can't give this category all five stars because I am not exactly pleased with the way that Stout handles extra-curricular activities. During the first few weeks it was fun because everyone kind of had their days planned out and there was so much do to! And now since the semester has been rolling on, the activities for the majority of students has been leveled out and all that is left to do is go out and party. Which I choose not to do so I do not enjoy it as much as I would like to.
I have started to attend things such as Campus Crusade every Thursday and I enjoy myself there. They have shown me that you don't have to go out all the time to have a good time. They have provided many things to do without going to a house party.
There are many things for students to do during the course of the week, which I choose to do some of them if I'm not doing homework, but on the weekends not much is provided. This is why I have only given this category three stars.Bang for the buck College isn't free. But, Stout seems to be worth the money you pay for it. Because it is a state college your not paying a huge amount of money per credit, but it gets pretty spendy.
You only pay per credit for tuition, and housing can get kind of expensive, but it seems somewhat worth it.
Now as far as bang for your buck, I think its pretty worth it to pay what we do for credits, the teachers are very helpful and they know that your paying to take their class so they do their best to make it worth your while.
Meal plans can get very expensive fast, so be careful what you choose. You do get a microwave and a refrigerator in your dorm room so you can have food in there if you choose not to eat at the commons. Speaking of the commons, this is where you would eat most if not all of your meals, this food is the least expensive on campus and its mostly worth what you pay for. Some of it tastes good and some of it doesn't, just depending on what you like personally, so be careful when choosing your meal plan.
Overall Stout is worth the bang for the buck.Tips for prospective students For any student looking to further their education after High School, trying to choose a college can be difficult. I would just say to make sure you love the school your going to attend, don't pay much attention to how much you'll be paying for it because scholarships and grants are always available. Cost can be a huge thing for a lot of people, but for as much as it costs your getting all you pay for. Just remember to keep that in mind.
Also, I hope that you keep in mind that you should love what you do. And don't go to a college to be with your friends from High School, you will always be able to meet new friends. Do things for yourself and do things because you want to, not because of anyone else telling you what to do.
Make sure when you do choose and attend a college, do not slack off. Some students seem to think that college is like High School. It's not. You have to do your work and make sure its done correctly and on time. If you do this you will be just fine.
And finally, just have confidence in yourself and you will do well.Great for these types of students University of Wisconsin - Stout is great for students who learn well in a hands on classroom. Stout takes pride in its ability to teach students the way they do. And it really does work. Stout is great for students who take pride in what they do. Whether you know what you want to do with the rest of your life or even if you don't, Stout is there to help you figure out what you want to do. And if you know what you want to do they are there to help you learn and develop quickly within the field.
Stout is great for any student.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences UW Stout is located in a small college town. Class sizes are small enough that your professors will learn your name. There are many quality instructors with years of industry experience.
Tips for prospective students You're Gen-eds are not usually too bad. Your major courses will be a bit more difficult. As a full time student in the apparel design major I can't work more than 15-20 hrs a week.
Academic Rigor The apparel design core courses are a lot of work. Many can be extremely time consuming. I know students that have spend the entire night working in labs.
Dorm Life The dorms are nice. Some buildings have been recently remodeled.
Food and Dining You can get pretty much anything around Menomonie. They have lots of restaurants. The dining hall is pretty good and was just completely remodeled this year.
What to do for fun If you're not old enough to go to the bars there's the usual movies and what not. There's a rather large lake nearby if you enjoy the outdoors. You can rent kayaking and canoeing equipment from campus.
Bang for the buck I feel the quality of my apparel design instructors is equal to that of UW Madison and the tuition here is about half that of Madison.
Great for these types of students This is a great campus for apparel design students. There are also lots of other art and design students here as well as retail students.
Clubs and Activities Lots of clubs and activities to join. The apparel students put on a big fashion show every spring.
Greek Life There are sororities.

UW-Stout is a highly hands-on type school.
UW-Stout is a party school.Tips for prospective students Explore the coffee shops around town, because they are awesome study spots!
Use the library to your advantage. I went through my entire college career without ever having to buy a printer/scanner/copier. Save your money!
Start looking for an internship NOW!Academic Rigor The academic rigor depends on the specific course and instructor. I found most of my classes satisfactory with a few exceptions.
Dorm Life Cramped living quarters. I highly recommend renting a single room if you value privacy. It was well worth the extra money. However, I made amazing friends in the dorms!
Food and Dining The campus has some unique dining options that are amazing like Asian noodle bowl, and this amazing stir fry bar. I love the food! Great prices too, and many dining locations.
What to do for fun On-campus movies/plays, Bars, water-skiing, parades, Girls' Night Out Events, shopping, concerts, parties.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences A clean campus, with teachers who care more about their students than there work. I love the smaller college population, and the diversity. Mathematics department could use a little work, but this is the to-go school for science/math/technology/packaging/you-get-the-point students :)
Tips for prospective students Prepare yourself for a good time. Lots of amazing classes and professors-rateyourprofessor is the site to look at for that, and also lots of organizations to keep yourself busy and add to your resume!
Academic Rigor Some classes are hard, but there are tutor labs on campus specifically for the department you are having trouble in which helps a lot. Also, if you space your hard major classes vs. easy general eds in a smart manner, you can get through college much easier than if you wait till your senior year to take the hard classes!
Dorm Life Yes you get the loud, obnoxious party people, but you have Residential Advisors who are there to help you keep the dorm environment safe, livable, and a fun place to be!
Food and Dining There are MANY places on campus to eat. With quite the diversity ranging from a sandwich and soup bar to Mexican food. Also, if campus food doesn't cut it, there is a grocery store in walking distance and restaurants and fast food all over town (also in walking distance)
What to do for fun There are hiking trails, a river to go tubing on, a beach that most students go to on nice days, parks all over town, restaurants, a cheap movie theater a block from campus, bars for people over 21, disc golf courses, a waterpark, so much to do! And Menomonie is a beautiful city overall :)
Clubs and Activities If you are interested in getting some good organizations listed on your resume, Stout is full of them. Greek life is everywhere, if you care for the environment, are LGBTQ, soccer, multicultural, interested in Swing dancing, you name it, we got it!
Greek Life Greek life is all over Stout. But most Greeks, you will find are also part of other organizations! The Greeks on campus work very hard for their philanthropies and do numerous community service and fundraising events.
Campus Safety Security is always on the look-out for trouble! For underagers, Stout is not as strict towards drinking, as long as you are SMART. You drink, be responsible and you will have no problems. You drink and act crazy, you most likely will get stopped by the police or campus security. But your safety is number one.

Tips for prospective students Use rate my professor! Get involved in clubs! Check out the engineering programs.
Academic Rigor Homework is enough to keep you busy but is not very challenging. Not as hard as a big state school, but not as easy as a tech school.
Dorm Life Dorms are good sized and the basements are large with lots of tv's, rooms, and games.
Food and Dining Lots of options around campus. Small food carts in most buildings. Cafeteria food is good and is priced reasonably.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences stout is a great, accredited uw-system school that offers a broad range of hands-on majors and classes that are taught by well educated and passionate professors.
Tips for prospective students do your research. stout doesn't offer a lot of the typical majors that most universities do, but they do have a lot of wonderful, unique, and specialized majors that are almost guaranteed to land you a job. also, bring a car if at all possible. everything on campus is very walkable, but walmart and entertainment is not.
Academic Rigor you will learn a lot at stout right off the bat. the professors all know what they're talking about, and they're excited to be there to help you learn about their career field.
Dorm Life living in the dorms is required for all freshmen and sophomore, but it's a wonderful way to meet new people and make friends. the dorms are clean for the most part, and the ras are all well trained and know what they're doing.
Food and Dining the food in the commons is decent and well-priced, but you get really sick of it really fast. thankfully, there are more food options available over in the student center.
What to do for fun the big downside to stout is that there's really nothing to do. a lot of people go home or go to eau claire or the cities during the weekends, so it's pretty dead and absolutely boring. my advice would be to get involved in an organization on campus so you have something to occupy your time with.
Bang for the buck college definitely isn't free, but i feel like the quality of education you get at stout, plus the additional things such as laptops definitely makes it worth your money.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus the memorial student center was just renovated and reopened in 2012. it's where you'll find a majority of people hanging out on any given day.
Great for these types of students stout is great for someone who is looking to major in a specialized program. it's also great for someone who is looking to go to school in a small community.
Clubs and Activities there is an incredible number of clubs for you to join at stout, ranging from something that is affiliated with your program to sororities and fraternities to musical clubs.
Greek Life i am currently in a sorority at stout, and i'm very happy with my decision to join. stout doesn't have a large number of sororities and fraternities, but the ones that are here are very friendly and welcoming.
Campus Safety i have never once felt unsafe at stout. for one, it's a small town with little to no crime, and secondly, the campus police officers are always there to make sure you're safe.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i would say that wisconsin stout university is a great school. stout is not a hard university if you come to every class, pay attention, and ask question. one thing i would say is do not get to involved in the party life because you will see your grades decrease.
Tips for prospective students if you are trying to come to stout you really have to put in the work because it ist as easy as you make it.
Academic Rigor the classes are not hard at all i think as long as you pay attention to what your teachers are saying and get involved in the class then you will not have a hard time at stout.
Dorm Life the dorm life at stout is as fun as you make it. when i say that i mean like i see a lot of people in there rooms and they never come out and hang with people so if thats how your going to be you wont enjoy the dorm life at all. i personally love living in the dorms because you don't have to clean the bathrooms like when you stay in a house and also staying the dorms everything is in the building such as the laundry mat, leisure, and vending machines.
Food and Dining the food at stout is pretty good but the thing i would say is don't eat the food everyday because after awhile you will get tired of it and then you would just stop eating the food.
What to do for fun what i do for fun usually i got to the gym and play basketball because it's fun and you meet a lot of people at the gym.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences though a smaller school, uw-stout is big on it's opportunities. it shows excellence in all of its programs, and is well known for its art and design department. there are also many study abroad options.
Tips for prospective students don't be afraid to apply because of some portfolio review to get into your intended major. they don't judge you on the quality of your work, or how much of it you have. they judge it off of the potential it has, the concepts you create. college is tough, but you have to be more bold and daring if you really want to shine.
Academic Rigor i'm taking on a 16 credit load this semester, which is the average for a freshman if you keep on track for graduation. it keeps me busy, and offers a challenge frequently. the professors are fantastic, though every now and then you get that teacher that you think should have stayed in the public school system.
Dorm Life upon being accepted, stout has you fill out a questionnaire for housing and attempting to put you with a nice roommate. first year you're on the same floor as other people in your major, so you all can have a common ground and help each other with homework and studying.
Food and Dining stout has a couple main dining halls, and multiple cart operations all over campus that can all be accessed with whatever dining plan you have. there are also multiple cafes and restaurants near campus that often send you discounts in the mail so you can add a little variety on your college student budget.
What to do for fun stout always has something planned for on-campus entertainment. there's also a lot of clubs and organizations that are bound to peak your interest. it's also not far from some major cities, which make some nice weekend trips if you want to get out of town.
Bang for the buck aside from the initial price tag, stout's textbook rental system helps you save hundreds of dollars per semester by allowing you to check out textbooks like you would a library book. as long as you return them at the end of the semester, you won't have to spend a dime on textbooks.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences University of Wisconsin-Stout is a great four year school. It not only preps you for the real world but the professors guide you in the work place and how to act like a professional. UW-Stout doesn't give you a diploma you earn it, and by doing that they set you up to succeed in the rest of your life.
Tips for prospective students for incoming students there are alot of new things for you and it is easy to become overwhelmed. some tips to help you out are:
1. don't skip classes it only makes it tougher when you do miss a day.
2. homework is really important, it helps you for the test
3. if you are struggling in a class ask the teacher for help
4. make friends, and get involved but remember to get the homework done first then you can have fun.Academic Rigor some of the classes are challenging but the amount of work you put into your education is what you get out of it. its your work your grade so do the best you can. the teachers are there to help you learn so ask question when you don't understand something
Dorm Life Dorm life is so much fun. you meet lots of people and live with a roommate. the dorms are where you meet the majority of your friends because your living there for a year everyday.
Food and Dining the food is OK because you don't have to make it. and there is a big selection of food.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am learning so much in school. I love most of my professors and classes. the only class i dont like is my food technology class because the teacher is from India and hard to understand.
Am enjoying being here I love Stout. I am currently on the Waterski team and just became a board member. I have been meeting so many new friends and love it here.
Bang for the buck College is expensive but at Stout i feel like the money is worth it. I have good professors and classes. The only thing that i think is too expensive is the food in the commons. It is a bit expensive. But u get unlimited sides, and desserts so that is awesome!
Tips for prospective students Apply early and once you get here don't be afraid to get involved the waterski team is amazing! and all of the clubs are very accepting to new members!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Sadly, most people wrongly believe that Stout is a slacker school and the classes are easy and anyone can pass. This isn't true. Like any other school, the classes are college level classes and some are harder than others. I am enrolled in Honors classes and you really have to work in those classes but you learn a lot! When you pick a major you start with major-related classes right away. My first semester I had 3 classes related to my major and learned a ton in all of them.
Am enjoying being here Stout has been great so far for me. All of the people are really nice and you have the opportunity to meet a lot of people. The school is small enough were you can get to know a lot of people but at the same time its big enough to have a wide variety of options and people. Everything on the campus is well maintained including a newly renovated dinning hall of underclassmen. Also, I think all of the food service options are great.
Bang for the buck Its still college and its still expensive, however, compared to other schools, Stout has a lot of benefits. Included in tuition is the laptop program, text book rentals, and other activity fees. The laptop program is great, you get a $2,000+ laptop, thousands of dollars of software, and support and repair. Plus, you get a new laptop every 2 years and get to keep it when you graduate. The textbook rental is also great. It costs about $60 per semester for books with rental fees compared to my friends who pay hundreds at other schools.
Tips for prospective students Don't go in with the belief that its Stout and it will be easy. Its still college and I have seen a lot of people on my floor slack off on classes and it has ended up hurting them. Also, get involved and apply for scholarships. Stout offers tons of scholarships. I have received a few and they have drastically reduced the cost for me.
Great for these types of students Stout is a polytechnic university and thus is great for students looking for hands on opportunities. Stout is known for technology, engineering, and arts (mostly digital). Anyone looking to go into one of these fields should consider Stout. If you like learning by doing this is great school for you. All of my classes have been so much more than lectures, everyone gets involved. Even typical lecture classes such as English are more like group discussions and we typically work in small groups on projects. Also with Stout you get small class sizes. My largest class has been speech and that only had about 25 students in it.
Also, I thought I should note that for the next school year (2010-2011) Stout is going smoke-free. Smoking will be banned on the entire campus. Currently its banned in any buildings and within 25 feet of entrances to buildings.Login to rate or flag the reviews
