    Am learning a lot

The campus is focused on teaching you the skills you need to get a job. The focus is always looking forward to what you can use. Many of the college of business professors maintain employment outside of the university to stay current with industry standards and practices. This is VERY helpful.

    Am enjoying being here

A lot of students go home on the weekends. Unless you are 21, there isn't much legal entertainment to do off campus. Milwaukee and Madison are less than an hour away though.

    Am learning a lot

At Whitewater, I have learned many things in each of my classes that I truly believe I can actually carry with me for the rest of my life. The classes I've taken for my major have helped me to learn what I need to learn in order to be successful in my future. I have not heard of any other college that prepares their students more than the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater does. I have learned more than I ever imagined I would.

    Am enjoying being here

I thoroughly enjoy being here. My fellow peers are always around for help with my homework or just to be there as a friend. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I've always found something to do with my time, whether it be bowling, pool, air hockey, or just hanging out with my friends. There's no place I'd rather be.

    Bang for the buck

Whitewater is one of the cheapest all around university schools in Wisconsin. You get the most for your money and it is very well spent. The meal plans are one of the cheapest and you get so many choices to choose from. The tuition is one of the lowest as well. Whitewater provides so many opportunities for the students like complex parties, comedians, or live bands which are all under $5 if not free.

I have personally never learned so much in my life. This school is an amazing place to learn, no matter where you are in the campus. The classes are amazing, my personal favorite this past semester being Astronomy 101, I learned so many incredible facts in this class, and I had a lot of fun just taking it too. But lets face it, I didn't learn everything in the classes. A lot of what I learned also took place outside of the class room. When I became involved in activities all over the campus and really worked at all of them, I began to improve on my time management skills, communication skills, and plainly: my people skills. When you go out to get active and get involved in this campus, I guarantee you that you will learn a lot more than you could in any class room. And let me tell you, Whitewater is an amazing campus to learn, both in and out of the class room!!

    Am enjoying being here

I personally love this campus. I think that it is quite eye appealing at first and then when you come here to attend the college, you'll begin to love it even more. First of all, the campus is amazing, its not too big, but its defiantly not too small either. I love all the buildings, some of them might just blow you away at how technological they are, Hyland Hall. The campus offers so much as well. I love getting involved and being active in everything the campus has to offer. My days never have any lulls in them, they are always consistently filled with fun stuff to do. Dorm life is also quite exciting, I have made so many friends on my floor and we do so many exciting things with each other here on campus. If you want to have fun and learn a lot at college, this is defiantly the place for you.

    Bang for the buck

Unfortunately for me, I don't have loads of money to pay for college. It's quite hard for me to be able to pay for this college. I work full time during the summer, part-time during school, and I am still coming up short. When this school is compared to other schools, I would say that it is somewhere around the middle in costs of attending. Non-the-less, this is a great school and is completely worth every penny.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are on the fence about coming to this school or another business school, I would highly recommend checking out this schools awards for being one of the top ranked business school in the United States. I was completely unaware of how amazing this school was in the Business industry until I was already applied. I beleive that this school is the best choice for anyone who wishes to become a business major. This school offers so much, and trust me, the things you can do in Whitewater are incredible, there are so many opportunities to be had. Don't let this school slip away from your sights, it is an amazing school that is worth your while.

Great for these types of students

This school is great for over achievers, people who want to be involved, or just anyone who want to attend an amazing college. This school is known for its Business degrees, but it also has a lot to offer in the education and theatrics departments.

Whitewater has a great environment for learning. Class sizes can range from a small number of students to a lecture hall but you are usually able to find classes where you can choose whether or not you want a small or large class size. Most professors know their subjects really well. Occasionally you will come across some who teach a class that is not their specialty and then it is hard to learn because they don’t know what they are talking about. But in general, the professors at Whitewater are very competent and try to be as helpful as they can if a student does not understand something.

    Am enjoying being here

Whitewater has a great campus. It is very open and spacious. It takes no more than 15 minutes to walk across campus. Off campus, there is not that much to do unless you are 21. Then you can go to the bars. There is a movie theater and bowling alley off campus. There is a lot to do on campus. The University Center has a movie theater where a different movie plays every weekend for only $1. Every Thursday night different comedians and bands come in to entertain students in the UC. There is also a medium sized bowling alley where students can bowl for $3. If you live in the dorms, programs are put on every week to entertain students.

    Bang for the buck

The tuition for Whitewater is pretty reasonable. You generally do not have to pay for books because there is a rental system available for students. The pricing for the food isn't that great considering the quality of the food, but it is getting better.

    Tips for prospective students

If you are seriously considering Whitewater, I would suggest spending a day on campus before you enroll to make sure that the campus and school environment is a fit for you. You should also check out professors online before signing up for their classes. The reviews you find usually give good insight on the teaching and grading style of a professor.

Great for these types of students

Whitewater is a great school if you are interested in studying anything in the business area.

I'm a music education major, and I feel my professors could answer any question I have in a way I could understand it and get the most out of their answer. All of my professors, not just in the music department, are very conscientious, professional, but also relatable.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the campus! Everyone is so down to earth and friendly. I loved my first week here- the freshman orientation was amazing! Everyone was really geared to helping the incoming students! Because the campus is so small, everything and everyone feels close-knit. I see people I know all the time walking to class! Classes are small, too. No more than 30 kids, except maybe in the GenEd classes, but I'm sure it wouldn't surpass 50.

    Bang for the buck

Like any UW school, it's pretty reasonable. I only wish the school offered more scholarships.

    Tips for prospective students

Tour the campus. A lot of people don't like the secluded country feel of the Whitewater campus, even though I personally love it. Madison and Milwaukee are close by, but not walking distance! Visit the departments you think you will be studying in for your major. Remember: Whitewater is a great school for business, education, and special needs, but that doesn't mean you can only major in those subjects! Like any college, all of the departments have to be strong, so check them out! That's why they have tour days almost every month!

Great for these types of students

Anyone who wants to attend an amazing school and experience how great college life is!

Professors at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater leave much to be desired. As a freshman taking mostly general education classes, most of my professors do not have a strong grasp on the materials they are teaching, and do not seem to care about their students or their subject matter. Even major-specific classes are focused on simply leaning material in order to pass the course, rather than learning something to use in the future. However, Whitewater's Japanese program is stellar, and I have heard only positive things about its business classes. In short, the quality of Whitewater classes is completely dependent on the subject area and the specific professor.

    Am enjoying being here

Whitewater is a small campus that is very easy to navigate; walking to class takes me 5 minutes on average, and 15 minutes at most. Classes are also very small, and are taught by professors rather than TAs (though Whitewater's professors can be subpar). However, Whitewater's student environment is less than perfect. Whitewater has a strong partying and drinking culture, and a majority of students have a negative attitude toward classes. Despite most students going home on the weekends, there is always a lot going on at Whitewater: comedians visit every Thursday night, and every weekend a $1 movie is shown in the theater.

    Bang for the buck

Whitewater is a great choice for Wisconsin residents because of its low cost. It also employs a textbook rental service, covered in tuition prices, making all textbooks free to rent. It has the lowest meal plan prices of all UW-system schools (though if you do not use a meal plan, prices of foods on campus are abnormally high).

    Tips for prospective students

Searching for professors on ratemyprofessors.com is integral because of the huge differences in talent of UW-Whitewater professors. Research study abroad opportunities! Whitewater has many cheap study abroad programs. Visit the school before you apply, if you can.

Great for these types of students

Business majors and Social Work majors, which Whitewater has strong programs for. Devoted Christians, as Whitewater is a very Christian (and often conservative) campus with many different Christian organizations, and nearby churches.

Whitewater definitely offers a great curriculum! The introduction classes even offer a great deal of information and really get in depth with the subject you're studying. The professors are very approachable and any questions you have will definitely be answered. Class sizes are relatively small so you have a chance to get to know your professor and you're not just a number!

    Am enjoying being here

I absolutely love Whitewater! The campus is relatively small so it's real easy to get around. Most buildings are only a five to ten minute walk- not bad at all! We have a good amount of restaurants on campus too so eating healthy and having a good amount of choices is never an issue! We're also ranked number 2 in D3 football....who wouldn't like to watch such a great team! Weekends can be kind of dull around here if you're not 21 but there's always something going on somewhere.

    Bang for the buck

College is expensive so you want to find a college that really gives you the bang for the buck. I think Whitewater is that school. One of the main reasons why I love Whitewater is that there is free printing! You don't have to pay to print off things and you don't even need to supply paper. You can leave your printers at home and save a lot of money because you're not buying a ton of ink or paper. I also love the fact that we have textbook rental. You don't have to buy your books! You have the choice to, but it's not necessary. Friends from other schools had to dish out at least a grand or so for their books, I didn't have to pay a thing!

    Tips for prospective students

Come visit campus! There's always tour groups going around campus. These tours offer a ton of information about campus and the school itself so you can see if it's the right school for you! Check out the website ---> www.uww.edu

Great for these types of students

Whitewater is perfect for students who want a great college experience. There's no doubt that you'll have a fun, educational time here.

    Tips for prospective students

Become involved in different groups and activities. It's a great way to find friends, network and discover new talents or interests.

    Dorm Life

Although the dorms are small, there are many floor activities to get involved in and many ways to meet the people you live with. Living in a freshman only dorm during your first year is an excellent way to meet other people who are new to coillege as well.

    Food and Dining

The food isn't the greatest, but the subs are really good at P-Street and Drumlin.

    What to do for fun

JOIN GROUPS! Look at the advertisements around campus, check your college emails and pay attention to what's going on in the area. You can meet friends, find fun things to do and discover new interests.

Whitewater is known for its phenomenal Business and Education programs, but the truth is, it's all around an excellent college for any Major, from Music and Theater to Nursing and Video Game Design. It's just the right size, located in a great community, and it'll be guaranteed that as soon as you're done with your freshman year, you'll want to keep coming back.

    Tips for prospective students

It sounds lame, but GET INVOLVED!! I was a bit of a shut-in my first semester, but after I got involved with my student org (Campus Crusade for Christ) I met so many new friends, and got a chance to tighten bonds with friends I had already known before. Want the best college experience possible? It's simple really; get as much scholarship and grant money as possible, then get involved with something, it beats staying in your dorm; I can tell you that from experience.

    Academic Rigor

Completely depends on the professor and how serious you are about your studies; it's amazing how different a class can be when the teacher is different. You can either take classes with a teacher who passes everyone, or you can take one with a teacher that you'll actually learn from. I got a mix of both, and both kinds really helped me along my academic path.

    Dorm Life

The first thing I would recommend is if you know what program you want to go into before you start classes, go into a learning community. It really eases the transition from high school to college; you meet people who are into the same things as you are, it's a great launching pad for meeting other people. Even if you don't decide to be in one of those, just keep your door open that first week; it literally opens up doors of opportunity (sorry for the pun) for you and potential friends you may meet on your floor/building.

    Food and Dining

Depending on which side of campus you're on, (in this case the East side) you can go to Esker Dining Hall (a traditional all-you-can-eat experience) or Prairie Street Market, which has fresh made-to-order subs and burgers too. On the west side is Drumlin, which isn't all you-can-eat, but is going to be remodeled starting this fall...and I've heard it's going to be a lot better than it used to be.

At the UC they have a coffee shop/bakery and smoothie place, they have Uno Due Go which has burgers, pizza, and stuff like that. The Commons area also serves breakfast and lunch. (I think they have a sub place up there too.)

Around campus they have tons of places, mostly fast food chains like Culvers, Pizza Hut, and Mcdonalds...the usual campus hotspots. They also have some great Mexican and Asian food too (that aren't chains.) Downtown they have some pretty good local spots like Rosa's Pizza and Jessica's Family Restaurant. Their food is great, but best of all their prices are adjusted for a college students' tight budget.

    What to do for fun

Whitewater is known to have a good time, and this is true; but it doesn't always mean there's alcohol involved. Trust me when I say that you can make friends there without having to puke your guts out. The RA's (resident assistants) and complex directors are always setting up free stuff for the residents, and if you're not into that, there's always stuff to do at the University Center, from bowling to pool to videogames. They have comedians and bands come there a lot too, every week there's always someone new there. They show movies at the UC for just $1, they show movies that are just about to go to DVD and I'd highly recommend you going to one, I saw a lot of great movies there.

    Bang for the buck

Whitewater undoubtedly offers the best education around here for the best price. College is never cheap, but it's the most moderately priced UW school; and keep in mind the 100's of student orgs, fantastic gym facility, and excellent atmosphere, its well worth every penny.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Plan-it-purple is a rite of passage for every new freshman, and it's pretty fun when you get to run through the football field and you're basically running through this huge tunnel of people who are all giving you high fives. It's pretty sweet! The big spirit ralley is good times too, and you get to literally get to paint the road purple with all your fellow freshman.

Great for these types of students

Anyone who wants to make friends and expand your horizons, socially, emotionally, academically...etc. So pretty much everyone.

    Clubs and Activities

Sooo many clubs!! Black Student Union, Christian Clubs, Knitting Club, Optimist Club, Habitat for Humanity, DECA, Intramurals, Club and Varsity Sports, and everything in between. And I mean EVERYTHING.

    Greek Life

Lots of Greek stuff, even though I'm not in it, they've got one for everyone too...music ones, guy ones, girl ones, ones for African-Americans, honors ones...the list goes on and on.

    Campus Safety

The town of Whitewater itself is very safe, rarely anything happens around here crime-wise. Granted, I still don't recommend walking around downtown at 1 in the morning by yourself; you still need to exercise common sense. Luckily, the main paths on campus are always well lit and every couple of yards they have a emergency thing you can press if anything goes down. The University Police also offers escorts if you're feeling nervous, just call their hotline and it's all good.

    Tips for prospective students

Introduce yourself to everyone during the first week! It will save you from awkward elevator rides and horrible silences in the hallways.
Don't slack off your freshman year. Once you get into the habit of Oh, I'll do it later, it's hard to break.

    Academic Rigor

This question depends on the class. Certainly we have tough classes, but it also depends on the professor. Some general education course difficulty levels can vary depending on which professor you have. Once you get into the higher level classes, you better watch your back because they get tough! Stay on top of coursework.

    Dorm Life

It's easy and fun to meet a lot of people in the dorms. There are dorm clusters on two sides of the campus: east and west. On the west side there is a building that holds 1/3 of the campus population. The dorms in this side of campus tend to be more social and loud (the party side, if you will). On the east side of campus is a group of buildings called the six pack. These dorms tend to be much quieter. I have lived on both sides of campus and enjoyed them both. If you're looking for a quiet dorm where you can study 24/7, choose a dorm from the six pack on the east side. If you're looking for somewhere you can meet a lot of people right off the bat (but still have time for studying, of course. Also you can go to the library if you don't like studying in your dorm!), choose the west side of campus.

    Food and Dining

There are many eating options on campus. On the west side, there are two options where you can use meal plans: a small place with sub sandwiches and burgers, and one set of stairs above this, a buffet-style dining hall. On the east side of campus, there is a dining hall that offers burgers, subs, burritos, pizza, and a healthy eating station that has different food each day (I believe this dining hall will be under construction soon to make another buffet style hall along with the current options). There are also meal options in the University Center.

    What to do for fun

Because Whitewater is a small town with a college plopped in the middle of it, a common complaint we hear is there's nothing to do! BUT if you're not lazy and actually take advantage of the fun things we have on campus (bowling, $1 movies, floor events, campus wide events, or dorm events) you can have a really good time with friends. Also, if you have a car, Janesville is a popular place to visit (a bigger city about 20mins away by driving like a college student...). In Janesville there is a mall, many restaurants, and a few shops.

    Bang for the buck

Whitewater has a lot to offer future students, and it's one of the cheapest University of Wisconsin schools.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There is some lore about witches in Whitewater, and some dorms on our campus are part of the Witches Triangle which is formed by three cemeteries in Whitewater. Places in this triangle are said to be haunted. If you're curious, go to Google and search witches of whitewater.

    Campus Safety

If you're ever walking on campus alone at night and feel unsafe or afraid for any reason, you can call the campus police and they will come escort you to your dorm. There are police patrols on campus, and I have never felt unsafe, even when walking across campus alone after dark (campus is well lit and the police patrol often).

    Dorm Life

I have heard Whitewater is a commuter school, where on the weekends the place empties out. Most students head over to either Madison or Milwaukee which is fine with me.

    Food and Dining

I ate at one of the halls on my tour. I have heard mixed reviews from past students and current ones, but for the most part it is good.

Division III Champs for Football and Basketball for the guys. Also offers many intermural sports for the average athlete like me.

    In three sentences

UWW is an outstanding school due to its ability to cater to all types of students, its size, and its dynamic and stimulating student life. The university's size is small enough to allow for comfortable navigation around campus, and it also aids in that student to professor ratios are small--giving the student the opportunity to have closer relations and more access to academic assistance. There is also an abundance of activities outside of the classroom; UWW features hundreds of student organizations, sports, and even Greek life.

    Tips for prospective students

Tour the campus and get a feel for it. You may seem put off at the prospect of going to a smaller school and one that doesn't have as much hype as UW-Madison, but UW-Whitewater offers a close community and friendly vibe in that you will always run into someone you know no matter where you go and it is very easy to meet new people. My advice is to just give it a chance.

    Academic Rigor

The academics here can vary depending on your major and what classes you are taking. The general education classes can be a bit of a joke if you did well in high school. But once those are out of the way, you get into classes that people take seriously and ones that you are probably interested in. In general, classes are relatively easy as long as you show up and make an effort. Also, to avoid terrible professors, I like to use ratemyprofessor.com.

    Dorm Life

The biggest lessons I can take from my first year of college don't come from the classroom, but from living with a complete stranger in a small cube. I tried to be friends with my roommate but ended up hating her. But it taught me a lot of things and I believe all freshmen should live in the dorms for a year because it gives you tons of opportunities to make new friends and memories. It is essential to getting into the groove of college. The dorms at UWW aren't the nicest depending on where you are staying (like the towers) but they have been renovating and upgrading recently. Knilans is probably the cleanest with the best bathrooms. The student groups and resident assistants work hard to put on activities and make the dorms feel like a home.

    Food and Dining

It's not the greatest but what can you expect? Esker has weird hours and is closed by 7 pm. Fortunately for all of those people who eat late, Prairie Street Market (customarily dubbed P-Street), is open until 2 am and serve subs, hamburgers, chicken, fries, soup, and salad, along with your basic gas station-esque items like chips, candy, soda, frozen dinners and whatnot.

    What to do for fun

Contrary to common belief, there is much fun to be had on weekends (if you know where to look -wink-). The University Center puts on all sorts of events and shows. There's also a movie theatre and bowling downtown. If you're really looking for something to get involved in, I would strongly recommend going Greek because you meet so many people, gain a lot of connections, and I can guarantee that you will never be stuck in your dorm, alone, on weekends.

    Bang for the buck

Compared to the other state schools, this is one of the cheapest--and they're renovating and improving it all of the time. The campus is nice, the people are friendly, and when it comes down to undergraduate academics, it's the same as it is anywhere. So save your money, finish undergrad, or general education classes at the least, and then transfer if you must.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

There's a lot of wonky things on campus. For instance, there is a 'gum wall' stretching from one end of campus to the other. It's really just a fence (which borders a grave yard) that became customary for everyone to put their used gum on. Whitewater likes to keep it classy. Also, the entire campus is said to be haunted. There's rumors that it was once a school for witches--believe at your own discrepancy. One of the best places on campus is Jitters, a student run frozen beverage lounge, located in Wells Towers. They are notorious for their delicious frozen creation known as the Oreogasm.

Great for these types of students

UW-Whitewater is acceptable for anyone whether it be race, religion, gender, major, political views, or any stereotype, as long as they're friendly. A majority of the students here are friendly and open and just looking to have a good college experience. Anyone wanting to go into business would also benefit from going here because I hear UWW has a killer business program.

    Clubs and Activities

There's just about everything under the sun--music, art, religion, politics, majors--there's probably a club for it. And if not, start one. There's plenty of intramurals or team sports and really great facilities for them.

    Greek Life

A lot of people will argue that Greek life isn't very abundant and doesn't play a very big role on campus. I couldn't disagree more. Once you're in the Greek system, you will meet hundreds of really awesome people and it will seem like everyone you run into will have some sort of Greek affiliation. There aren't many chapters to choose from, but it is growing and new ones are popping up every year. Even if you don't think you're the sorority or fraternity type, I would strongly recommend trying it out. There really is no better way to become involved on campus, get some philanthropy and community service under your belt, and make really wonderful connections, not to mention the friends and memories you will make. You will also never be bored on weekends again because there is almost always something going on via the Greek community. I was totally lost when I first came to college and joining a sorority made the largest impact in helping me adjust.

    Campus Safety

It really couldn't be safer. There's numerous levels of security roaming around campus from the campus security to the local police. They also have these emergency flashing blue lights mounted on posts equipped with a button to dial 911 set up all over campus, in case you should ever need it. At night, the campus is also pretty well lit.

    Bang for the buck

    Its a decent price.

    Tips for prospective students

If your a city person don't attend here, Alot of people get homesick.

The professors are great and understanding, as well as good at presenting information.

    Am enjoying being here

I love the beautiful campus and my great professors. The student organizations are nice, though I don't personally have time for them.

    Bang for the buck

Could be a bit cheaper, but it's cheaper than Madison.

    Am learning a lot

At the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater, it's been easy to ensure that I'm actually learning useful things. I do think that with hard work, you could learn a lot from any situation, but at UW-W, it's not difficult. I'm majoring in Music Education and the Music faculty at this campus are really great- helpful and really good at what they do. I've had about four General Education classes as well, and I can't complain about one professor. Maybe I've been lucky, but I really have had all great professors. Willing to talk to you outside of class during their office hours, prompt at replying to emails, and overall welcoming. I'm fortunate enough to have a plan and decided major already, so learning a lot at this point is not too difficult.

    Am enjoying being here

I think Whitewater is beautiful, first of all, particularly in the Springtime. Some people say that everyone goes home on the weekends, but that's not true anymore. There's a lot to do in Whitewater, though it's a small town. During football season, our games (on Saturdays usually) are always a good time, because our team is so good (Division 3 Champions!) In the University Center, there is a bowling alley, $1 movies shown nearly every weekend that are fun and CURRENT movies, good food like UNO's pizza, and comedians or bands to listen to on Thursday nights. If you live in a dorm, your floor will have weekly activities going on like Game Night or S'mores parties, where it's easy to make friends. In town there are also things to do like check out the library or thrift shops, get a tattoo downtown, go for a walk along the beach, get a bite to eat at one of the diners in town, or get a drink at one of the bars if you're of age. Whitewater does seem to have a ritual called Thirsty Thursday. If you're not a partier however, don't worry. People don't usually get too crazy- unless it's Homecoming.

    Bang for the buck

Whitewater has reasonably-priced tuition. We don't have to pay for textbooks, apart from a couple now and then, because we have a textbook rental building. It is SO convenient and saves a lot of money. Being required to live on campus for the first two years can be a pain, but you can get out of that quite easily, if you'd prefer, by signing a couple forms. I recently thought that our meal plan was expensive, but I guess it turns out that it's reasonably priced compared to bigger universities like UW-Madison. The food is not excellent, but you can also choose the option of getting the Dining Dollars plan, in which you use your money for food as you need it, be that on food to make in your dorm like Mac n Cheese that you buy from Drumlin, or buffet-style food from Esker.

    Tips for prospective students

I would suggest making a visit to the campus before deciding on any school. See if campus is the right size for you (the longest walk you'll have to make to cross campus, if you're ever unlucky enough to have that schedule, is 15 minutes.) Check out the detailed and helpful website (uww.edu) that I know I still use on a regular basis to figure things out or check my schedule or grades. If you're a recently accepted student, check your email OFTEN and get psyched for the coming year!

Great for these types of students

A lot of people rave about Whitewater's great Business program, and it's true that it's impressive. I would also have to argue however, that this school is great for many more majors than that. Like I said previously, in the Music Department, the faculty are great as well as the resources needed to be a music major (like practice rooms) are all in good condition- complete with NEW pianos. I know people that are all sorts of majors, from Marine Biology to Accounting to Theatre and I haven't heard once a complaint about insufficient resources for their major here at Whitewater. I would say that this University is great for the type of student willing to work hard, as well as make some friends and have some fun while here.

Lots of interesting course offerings in multiple fields, and the professors are well qualified and know their stuff.

    Am enjoying being here

Lots of things to do, including an excellent athletics program. Tons of clubs--there is truly something for everyone here.

    Bang for the buck

Public schools tend to be less expensive, but UWW has cheap meal plans, textbook rentals, and a compact campus means there's no need to bring a car.

    Tips for prospective students

Take a tour--the university offers a pretty good one, and you'll get a good sense of what the university has to offer.

Great for these types of students

Business especially-Whitewater has a renown business school. I'm liking just about all of my classes though, not just the business ones.

    Am learning a lot

I am pursuing a major in elementary education and I really enjoy the classes that I am taking here at UWW. I have learned a lot already as a second semester freshman and, through the classes I have taken, realized that I would like to minor in special education. The general education credits that are necessary help to provide a broader range of education outside of students' majors.

    Am enjoying being here

The diversity of the people on campus at UWW is amazing. Being here already I have met so many people, all with diffrent views. I believe that being a part of such a diverse student body has helped me to become more accepting of others and their differences.

    Bang for the buck

There is a wide range of activities to participate in on campus that are generally free of charge to students. The dorms are very nice and the meal plans and dining dollars are accepted at most places around campus.

    Tips for prospective students

If at all possible, join a learning community. I am a part of a learning community and as a result have formed a close group of friends. The learning communities are especially helpful when scheduling and studying because of the fact that you have people that you know already in your classes.

Great for these types of students

Anyone can benefit from an education at UWW. There truly is something for everyone here on campus.

Most of the teachers here are nice and really care about what they are teaching. However, there are some bad teachers so ask others students who have taken the classes and use sites like ratemyprofessor.com when choosing classes.

    Am enjoying being here

There is alot to do on campus if you get involved. There are movies shown each week and many activities that students can participate in at the University Center. It does empty out on the weekends and there is a lot of drinking on the Thursdays, but there are other things to do. Also Whitewater is close to Madison and Milwaukee so you can travel to either city relatively easily.

    Bang for the buck

Whitewater is known for business and education. The campus is very nice as well as the students and teachers here. The football team is excellent and going to the games is free for students. It is a very nice setting to learn.

    Tips for prospective students

-Don't assume that because it is a rural location that there is nothing to do besides drink or go home on the weekends
