Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The Professors at WSU are thorough in their teaching but sometimes lack the patience for slower students. The curriculum while tough is also very educational and I have found it to be rather enjoyable.
Am enjoying being here I grew up going to WSU games so I guess i am a little biased but to be truthfully honest their are a lot of great qualities boasted by this college that I can honestly verify. First, the college hosts an array of fun and/or interesting educational activities and the same can be said for any social activities. The atmosphere is very relaxed but with an underlying sense of extreme urgency to do well. Over all while the students and staff may act rather laid back many of both are actually very dedicated making this college a nice place to be.
Bang for the buck WSU has an amazing range of educational and/or social opportunities. While the dorms are nothing to special the campus does boast a wonderful Student Recreation Center built within the last couple of years. The Campus also brings a just re-opened and completely revamped student union building which shows free movies Friday-Sunday nights and host up-all-night parties periodically throughout the year. On a more educational note WSU also offers many aids to students in their studies ranging from personal tutors to a student writing center where English majors get to sharpen their skills by helping correct and modify papers brought in by students who are having writing troubles. All expenses for these attractions and more are all automatically included in your tuition.
Tips for prospective students One thing I can say to any prospective students more than anything is that home work is a major component in being a student at WSU. you must be willing to work for a grade! very few professors will allow you to skate by on good test grades alone.
The other thing is that in order to get the full WSU experience you must be willing to examine all your options, anyone can sit in a dorm room and play video games in their spare time but with all the extracurriculars WSU offers its virtually impossible to not find a group you wont fit in with, but you must be willing to look. Believe me, its worth the effort.Great for these types of students This university is best for students who like to get involved and put themselves out there. WSU offers so many opportunities its hard not to WANT to get involved in something. However, if you feel for some reason that you might not fit in anyways, don't sweat it; during those cold (and very long) winters sometimes staying in and doing your own thing is not a bad idea. the one universal thing I can say to any student looking at this university is that you must come willing to be focused and work, its easy with all those extra-curricular opportunities to get side tracked and I know from personal experience that falling behind is the last thing you want to do.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors at Washington State University are incredible, and luckily, all the ones I have had are really good at getting to know their students on a personal basis. Even with a 300 person lecture, if you're the type of student who is willing to get to know your professor (ask questions, go into office hours, etc) they're willing to help!
Am enjoying being here As an out of state student I can say that I am SO happy here. The campus is beautiful, and with the rolling hills walking to certain places on campus can count as your workout for the day! Haha, but really, the campus is beautiful, safe and easy to navigate. The options students have are endless: intramural sports, Greek life, over 300 clubs ranging from accounting to snowboarding, ski team, etc etc. There are plenty of options for student jobs and the University even has a website to help search for them. Washington State is a fun, laid-back, academically strong, beautiful campus that I would recommend anyone to attend.
Bang for the buck As an out of state student I have a much higher tuition price than most, but Washington State is very good at offering scholarships and loans. I receive a scholarship making my out of state tuition almost the price of instate tuition. It is so worth it though. Like I said the earlier, the campus is awesome, the people are extremely friendly and helpful, and scholarships are plentiful.
Tips for prospective students Keep those grades up, it's getting competitive! :)
Great for these types of students Anyone!

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot There's an interesting concept to WSU, first and foremost, you are asked to learn a little about your self. Develop in a new environment where there's plenty of diversity to present yourself with. I love the wide range of knowledge my professors had, not only in the courses they were teaching, but in others that had little relativity. The writing center is also a wonderful opportunity to go in and edit, or be edited on papers, brainstorms, even lab ideas.
Am enjoying being here Way different than from my comfortable LA town, but this college town has a lot of spunk and hope for the Cougs. Even though the number one thing you'll hear a lot is that it's a lonely town, the University does a great job in offering activities, keeping you busy with school work and opportunities, and advertising outdoor adventures. It really takes a special breed to hang in here.
Bang for the buck Definte a home away from home. The only thing I probably hate is the cost for board and room but even so, for out of state students like me, this was a lot cheaper than some of the schools in Cali. Amazing, I know. And I don't get a really good financial package (ouch).
Tips for prospective students Stay on top of things if you decide to go here. Like any school, you can get caught up in the strangest things. This town is one of the safest places I've ever been to. Girls have their own Women's Transit and the Pullman Transit Bus lines are operational until 3am. Use your resources and find others to make you successful person.
Great for these types of students Engineering, Veterinary, Music, Architecture, Business, Zoology, you name it, this school has it (even Astrophysics!)Choose a major, but don't be afraid to look around. Just don't look around too long. Counselors and advisers are there, and they are always available to you.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am definitely learning a lot at Washington State. All students are required to take a class from several categories, which include intercultural studies, sciences, etc. These requirements give students the opportunity to take a class that they probably would not have taken otherwise, and allow them to learn about a variety of topics. The professors at WSU are also very helpful in allowing students to get the most out of their education. They provide detailed information in their lectures along with ample resources to do well in their class. Although the course load can sometimes be rather challenging, your professors are willing to help as long as you go to their office hours and show an effort to do well.
Am enjoying being here I chose WSU over other schools that I was considering because their incredible school spirit made me believe that the students enjoyed their school. After my first few weeks, I found this to be true for me as well. It’s a great school with many areas to study and a variety of activities for people of all interests. The football and basketball games are a blast. There is also a number of clubs for people who want to get involved in areas of their interest. Washington State has an amazing Greek program as well. The entire education and extracurricular experience at this university is excellent. The hardest thing for me to get used about college life at WSU was the fact that it is located in a small town. This can cause some students to feel isolated.
Bang for the buck Washington State University is around the same price as other public undergraduate universities. I definitely feel that I am getting my money’s worth. There are so many programs for students of all interests that cost little to nothing. There are also free movies shown in the auditorium every weekend. The only thing I feel I would change in terms of cost is the price of food in the dining center. Depending on what you buy, meals can sometimes be rather pricy.
Tips for prospective students An important thing to realize as an incoming college student is how different it is from high school. In many classes, your entire grade is based solely on exams. This means that preparation is up to you since there is no homework. Start good study habits early to help relieve the stress of your first year of college. While maintaining good grades is the most important part of college, it is also key to involve yourself in extracurricular activities. At Washington State there are a number of ways to get involved, and I recommend that everyone at least find one group that shares their interests. It’s a great way to make new friends and get the most out of the college experience.
Great for these types of students Washington State is such a large school that anyone will be able to fit in. There so many majors offered, every student will find the career path that fits them best. There is also clubs and teams that everyone is welcomed to join. Pullman is a college town, which means there is not much going on other than games and campus events. It’s a great way for all students to get involved, but some may have a hard being so isolated from life outside of the campus. Washington State University is a great college for those who put academics as a top priority as well as those who want to make their college experience a fun and memorable one.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot As a student in the animal sciences program, I am learning so much more about animals than I thought possible just in my first year. Almost all of my professors have been easy to talk to and very interested in the subject.
Am enjoying being here Washington State University offers a lot of different programs that give you a step up on your career. As a student interested in veterinary medicine, I was extremely pleased to discover all of the different clubs offered for pre-vet students. The Raptor Club is by far one of the funnest and gives you the chance to work one on one with birds of prey.
Bang for the buck While all colleges are expensive, I am very pleased with the campus and the living situation. You get a great learning experience and the campus is beautiful.
Tips for prospective students Find something you enjoy and get involved. WSU has so many opportunities for students. Many of the clubs are available to all students and they are a great way to meet new friends.
Great for these types of students Since the campus is mostly a hill, it is great for those who want to get a workout without going to the gym. We don't call it cougar calfs for nothing. Also great for students wanting to pursue an animal related career or a nursing career.

Tips for prospective students Don't let the location of Pullman bring you down! The environment is awesome and the people are great and friendly. The professors are cool, and they're committed to helping you learn.
Great for these types of students Anyone who is laid back, can learn and concentrate, and control themselves while distinguishing between school time and play time.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The University has challenging classes and you will get a very good education. Strong study skills and good time management are a must to keep up with classes if you are a full time student. There are tutors available if needed.
Am enjoying being here This is an amazing campus. It is set in the rolling hills of the Palouse and it is gorgeous. The dorms have many activities to join in on, including dances, movies, and a variety of intramural sports teams. There is usually an all-night campus party once a month with food and games. There are also fraternities and sororities on campus with an active social schedule. Fraternities are not too hard to get into as not many guys want to join, but joining a sorority can be hard as there are many more girls applying than can be accommodated in the houses. There is also a great recreation center on campus if you enjoy working out, especially during the winter months.
Bang for the buck I think resident students get a bigger bang for their buck than say an out-of state student. Someone from out of state could probably find a state school in their own home state that could provide the same education at less cost. Still, it is a great university with great educational opportunities.
Tips for prospective students Apply as early as possible, especially if you are from out of state. If you are from out of state you can apply for the Cougar Award that helps defray the cost of out-of-state tution. If you plan on joining a sorority you should get as many recommendations from former members of a particular house as possible.
Great for these types of students This school has a fairly large student population, over 20,000, so if you like that size you should do just fine. Someone who doesn't mind being in a small town will enjoy campus life here too. WSU is only about 15 miles from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, but Moscow is also a small town. The campus is gorgeous and educational opportunities abound.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Read, read, read! WSU is about knowing the material, the tests and even the homework rely on the reading. In high school I could always get past without reading, at WSU you won't be able to do that. So make note cards, bring millions of highlighters and get ready to read.
Am enjoying being here For me it was tough moving to Pullman and knowing that the closest mildly decent shopping mall was over three hours away. The barren land and desolate scenery is almost a blur when you enter the campus at WSU. There is so much to do that single student won't feel left out. Even as the homework plies on you have the ability to join clubs, sports, greek life, and Cable 8 WSU's own cable station.
Bang for the buck I have to say the reason I came to WSU was because of the awesome scholarships and incredible price. Even though it is high above community college tuition, WSU provides college life and an amazing education.
Tips for prospective students DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Unless you are costing by in the Honors College at WSU, homework and attendance has never been more important. Remember that single kid your senior year? The one with the perfect attendance record? You want to be that kid in college. Sure, that kid in high school might have been crazy to attend everyday regardless you weren't paying as much as you do now. High School, even if you went to private costs incredibly more than any high school and for that reason you should GO to class. Every time you skip you cost your parents $500. Oh, and Sally Sidewalk rules for girls and boys. MIP's are easy to get in a small town. At WSU you feel as if it's another world, one without consequences and even as a freshman I have seen other kids get MIPs in the first week. Don't be stupid, just be smart.
Great for these types of students Great for students who like seclusion and studying into the night for just a quiz. WSU offers a massive greek life, so it's not hard to feel alone even in Pullman. It provides a brilliant communications program that is nation recognized.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot My variety of professors has really been great. One of the best things about the learning environment at WSU is that whether you are in a 400 person lecture or a 20 person tutorial, you will notice that your professors want to help you. They make a conscious effort to know you, and this is rather easy if you take advantage of office hours or talk to them after class. Classes are challenging and you certainly have to earn your grades. Strong study skills and good time management are academic concepts that you will continue to develop at WSU.
Am enjoying being here I am proud to be a Cougar and you will find that just about the entire student body is also. The school pride at WSU is outstanding! Sporting events are fun and popular, and if you like other activities its likely that the school offers it. The drama department offers a hilarious regular improv comedy show called Nuthouse in addition to the student union builing offering movies every weekend night. The student government, greek system, and dorms offers countless other activities both on and off campus. Don't forget about the campus; its amazing! The lovely look of the new and well kept old brick buildings continues to astonish me. The rolling hills of the Palouse region is not for everyone, especially since many city kids are not familiar with a smaller town such as Pullman. However, Pullman itself is charming and has a great community feel as does the university campus. Even though the student body is rather large at around 20,000, its great because it allows you to know many people within a great community while also being able to sit back and just be a number if you wish. I love how I can walk on campus and see people from my classes, run into professors, and also see many tables from organizations set up on the central part of campus.
Bang for the buck WSU is a public institution that is around the price of other instate universities. The rising cost of college is one thing, and it will continue to happen everywhere unfortunately. As a student that doesn't quality for grants or many quality loans, I was pleased to receive a more than decent financial aid offer with scholarships. With the education and experience that I'm receiving while attending WSU, I can say that it is a bang for the buck. Additionally, WSU made a selective list by a magazine/journal in regards to the best value universities.
Tips for prospective students Its important to keep a solid gpa and sat/act score. While the university isn't know for being extremely selective, they are becoming much more strict as the cost of college continues to rise. A variety of extracurricular activities is import on your application. All these things will help lead to your acceptance into the university and any scholarships that you might receive. Keep in mind that college life is different from high school, and not for everyone. Academics are notably different from high school, and you will learn to discipline yourself to study often and perform better on exams. Many of your grades will be based off of just your exam scores Make sure that you visit the campus if possible, it can give you an accurate feel of the school and what things may be like for you.
Great for these types of students WSU is great for students wanting to get involved, be fans of college sports, and receive a quality education at a good price.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors here are great and work with you to learn the material if you take the initiative to contact them. I've sat down one on one with a number of my professors because I didn't understand the lecture that day, and they really helped.
Am enjoying being here There are so many events at WSU and the campus is so beautiful that its hard to not enjoy being here. I have made so many new friends in my residence hall and my major program.
Bang for the buck Although tuition is a consideration for any college, WSU works with their students through financial aid and scholarships really well. The overall experience, I think, is definitely worth the rate I'm paying.
Tips for prospective students My first tip would be to talk to professors early. If the professor has some inkling to who you are, they will want to help you more than some random student. Also, getting involved is very important. Its easy to gget so stressed by homework and exams that you want to stay in your room and study all night, and that's alright sometimes, but others it is too overwhelming. Take a night for yourself and go to a campus event or get involved in a club that you find enjoyable.
Great for these types of students WSU is great for all students. There are many activities and clubs to get involved in for everybody. The classes are also very diverse for most majors.
Particularly though, it is a great school for their veterinary and honors program. There are 2 or 3 programs where undergrad students finish their degree a year early and can go stright to the vet school right on campus.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors are phenomenal here! They really are trying to help you succeed and push you to learn. There are many on campus resources to help solidify learning such as math labs and writing workshops.
Am enjoying being here The student body is like a family. We are Cougars through and through and the support for athletics, arts, and community is astounding. There is always something to do and the semesters whiz by.
Bang for the buck Washington State University is a little expensive because I am out of state but the experience is worth it. I feel that they overcharge for housing and dining since the facilities are dated but all of the residence halls are cleaned and well maintained.
Tips for prospective students I would recommend that you get involved. I know people say this time and time again but it is the honest truth. You meet so many people by putting yourself out there and you can find so many good friends. Also, get to know the people on your floor, you'll be living with them for quite some time.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students looking for a small town school with plenty of school pride.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot All the professors are here for your benefit. They have no problem scheduling meetings outside of class if you're having trouble with the class. It's comforting knowing that you have so many options for help including TA's, tutors, and other students. I've learned so much the past two years, and am so excited to learn even more the next two years.
Am enjoying being here I honestly enjoy going here. When I'm at home, I miss being in Pullman. Everyone is scared that Pullman is too small of a town but there are always things going on. The Greek System is so close knit, you can make many good friends and family. Everything on campus is in walking distance so you rarely need to leave campus. The campus is beautiful and pretty big.
Bang for the buck The tuition here is not too bad. I feel like I'm getting my moneys worth because there are so many options for majors and minors. There are a lot of opportunities to be in clubs and to get involved on campus. Also, there are a lot of programs for study abroad.
Tips for prospective students Come visit the campus! I promise once you see how gorgeous the campus is and how many positive features are here, you'll have a better feel for the school. There are always campus tours and opportunities for prospective students to come see what WSU is all about. I highly encourage becoming a member of the Greek System, for more reasons than one. Leadership opportunities, close-knit community, lifelong friends, and many social aspects are just a few reasons.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences a beautiful campus with lots of things to do. you get all 4 seasons living in pullman and theres a strong greek system. the school spirit is very strong and you can tell people here are proud to be a coug!
Tips for prospective students if your coming from out of state, definitely visit a couple of times before making you decision, especially if your not used to this washington weather it can be a real shock. pullman is basically in the middle of no where so thats another thing to keep in mind, its definitely a campus town so there are things to do but the nearest shopping center is 8 miles away in idaho.
Academic Rigor there are definitely some great and okay professors here at wsu, i just depends on your major or the class your taking. some majors like animal development agricultural, or biology have very good programs and professors because thats usually what people come here for, other programs do have a great professors once you get in the higher level classes, most 100 level classes are taught by a graduate student or ta.
Dorm Life i guess it depends on which dorm you pick! there are alot of new dorms that are being built and a couple being refurbished, those are the ones to go for, the older dorms are not as nice as the newer ones but the rooms are much, much bigger which is a plus. the do have all girls and all boys dorms, but most of them are co-ed. the dorms always have different activities going on and there are lots of ways to get involved. wsu does have a requirement for freshman to live in the dorms for 1 year.
Food and Dining the food here is great!... for about the first couple of weeks, if you live in the dorm. it gets kinda tiring after a while, but there are separate markets next to the dining hall for example hillside has a little market where you can go and make your own food, kind of like a campus mini mart.
What to do for fun pullman is basically in the middle of no where, so there are not alot of places to go if you dont have a car. but the bus is free is you have your student id card so you can travel with that or walk. there are alot of restaurants and mom and pop shops downtown, if you like to party, greek row has a bunch of fraternity partys literally every weekend. the student council at school holds different events on the weekends that are really enjoyable, they work hard to give students who dont like the party life something to do. we also have school concerts, last year wiz khalifa and ludacris came, this year big sean came and tyga is coming soon, and most recently rappers currency and too short came.
Bang for the buck it is definitely worth it if you make the most of it. if you stay involved and do everything there is to do and take advantage of the classes given and the office hours of professors, your money will not go to waste.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus it is a must to 1. hate u dubb with a passion (people hear will call you out and harrass you if you support the university of washington in any way) they are a rivals and everyone hates them 2. go to the football games, the campus is literally desserted on the day of the games (even though we dont have the best team, everyone still goes to support because of our fanstastic school spirit), own at least one piece of coug swag, which translated is any type of shirt, sweatshirt, hat etc. you will feel very out of place because everyone you pass by with have something of wsu on.
Great for these types of students this school is great for people the already used to the type of weather in washington, pullman is pretty unpredictable when in comes to weather and it can be a shock for someone that isnt used to it, like myself coming from california. this school is also great for biology, agricultural and animal science majors particularly because that is what this school is known for.
Clubs and Activities the are various different types of clubs and organizations on campus for anyone to get involved in, theres really no excuse. and trust me, they will recruit you especially if you go in the compton union building alot (cub for short) because thats basically the main hangout spot to chill in between classes and get something to eat. there is a club and organization for every type of interest, too many to type out!
Greek Life i personally love greek live because i am greek myself! there is a really bad stereotype when it comes to being in the greek system and that is not the case at all. i definitely thought about all the college movies ive ever seen and thinking thats what greek life was going to be about, it really wasnt. the people here carry heavy traditions and are very passionate about grades and volunteer work. people in the greek system have on average higher gpas then people that are non-greek. there is a high standard of greatness for the fraternites and sororities on campus.
Campus Safety you cannot get any safer than pullman, trust me. we are one of the safest campuses in the pac 12. the only problem that occurs throughout campus is theft and thats only when people leave there stuff unattended. after a long study session in the library i usually walk by myself at night back home, i never feel scared because honestly theres nothing to be afraid of, theres usually people walking around at night too and there probably just trying to get home or walking back from a late night study session like you. if for some reason there is an emergency there are these poles with a 911 button all over campus, you can spot them because they have a blue light on top of them, if you were in any danger, those would be in close range, as long as ive been here though i have never heard of anyone needing to use them. the local police department is also located right in the middle of campus, so if an emergency were to take place it would take them less than 2 mins to get to you.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences a beautiful campus that has plenty to do if you look for it. the professors are very great, and extremely helpful. everyone that works and lives here are kind.
Tips for prospective students don't get behind in your studies. as long as you stay organized and focused you will succeed.
Academic Rigor the classes can be difficult, but everyone here is here to help you.
Dorm Life personally, i do not like the dorms because of the small space, but it varies from person to person.
Food and Dining the food is good, but there isn't as much variation as i would have liked.
What to do for fun there are constantly activities going on, there are many groups you can join. also, the school puts on different events such as concerts and dances.
Campus Safety the campus has its own police station and there are constantly cops making their rounds throughout campus making it a very safe campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences wsu is the perfect school for me. the academics are great, but the best part is the atmosphere of the town and the university. it is the perfect college in the perfect little college town!
Tips for prospective students stock up on cold weather clothing for the winter months- the snow can really build up, and school pretty much never gets cancelled! also, get involved in whatever you can. it's a great way to meet new people and get to know the university.
Academic Rigor i'm in the honors college, so those classes are obviously challenging. but i have found some of my regular classes to be challenging as well! the good news is that most of the teachers want you to come in and ask for their help.
Dorm Life since the town is so small, dorm life is dominant here. and absolutely love it! you get to meet all sorts of people, and you are within walking distance of all your classes. it's very convenient.
Food and Dining the food is pretty good for being dorm food. but when you get sick of the cafeterias, there are little convenience stores on campus so you can stock up on junk/snack food! and you can pay for everything with your meal plan money.
What to do for fun there is a movie theater right around the corner, but the student union building (called the cub) plays a different every weekend movie for free! greek row is also incorporated into the campus. plus, the student entertainment board always has activities going on, like up all night events with hypnotists and free piercings!
Bang for the buck tuition is pretty steep here (at least compared to other public universities in the country) but for me, it's completely worth it. i'm getting a great education and a fantastic college experience all in one!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus wsu is such a tight-knit community that there are way too many traditions to name! one of my favorites is saying go cougs to other people sporting wsu cougar gear off campus. the saying once a coug, always a coug is definitely true here!
Great for these types of students people looking for both an education and the traditional college experience, people who like small towns, people who like to be involved in school activities
Clubs and Activities as i said before, the clubs and activities are great! it's really easy to get involved in all sorts of different clubs on campus.
Greek Life greek life is great! i'm not in the greek system myself, but both of my roommates are, and they absolutely love it. and the fraternities on campus always hold events every weekend that both greeks and non-greeks can attend.
Campus Safety wsu was voted the safest campus in the pac-12 for two major reasons: 1) the small size of the pullman community means that there is a much lower crime rate overall in the town, and 2) wsu offers a myriad of safety services on campus, such as women's transit, which will give a ride to any student (male or female) who would otherwise be traveling by themselves at night.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am an online student, which is beneficial to me because I am almost 30 and need to work full time. Their online program is one of the best in the countries, and a State University degree that you can attain online is really great.
However, in this particular online environment, I find that we take few exams that are proctored, and since most exams are essays or in the privacy of your own home, it is easy to rely on having your textbook. While I feel that I have learned a great deal, I also feel that I may be learning more if I were forced to be tested without the book.Am enjoying being here The environment is great because it is whatever you want it to be. I can be at home, or in a coffee shop, and it is easy to learn when you are most comfortable. Also it is great to be able to log in late at night if you work all day. The discussion boards are great and most of the students provide good feedback and conversation, and the majority of the teachers reply to your questions and posts in a short time.
Bang for the buck Most online schools are pretty expensive, since you are paying for the convenience. And a lot of employers look at online-only schools as being less than adequate than an on-campus education. However with WSU, it is recognized equal to an on-campus degree, and the price is more affordable than a lot of other online programs.
Tips for prospective students Keep in contact with your adviser, they will help you select courses so you graduate on time, and they wont let you overload yourself. My adviser talked me out of taking too many hard courses in one semester, so I would be able to dedicate the proper amount of time to all of them.
Sometimes they don't post the course materials until the last minute, so email the instructors asap if you plan to order your books online.
This semester, they didnt post my required books until 1.5 weeks before classes started. When I ordered them online, I didnt get my books until 2 weeks into the semester. Keep on top of it.
Also, if you do have to take proctored exams, it can be hard to find one last minute so look early in the semester. Most places charge, like libraries and other schools. Sylvan learning centers can do them last minute, but they charge a lot of money, I paid $75 to take an hour-long exam. A local community college proctored mine for $20. Its VERY important to find your proctor early so they can schedule you in, and so you get the lowest price, because it can be costly. A lot of churches will do it for free, and police stations.Great for these types of students Single parents, working families or individuals. Anyone who must work a regular job and cant only go to school. Good at managing your own time very well. Not good for procrastinators. Must have good discipline, must be willing to communicate and give feedback. Have the time to log in at least 4 times a week to each class. Must have a computer, and should be a laptop, as well as access to internet whenever you need it.
I cannot stress enough how important it is that you are good at managing your own time. Nobody is there to remind you of assignments, and it is your job to remember discussions, exams, papers, extra credit, textbook info, etc.Login to rate or flag the reviews

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Washington State University offers several programs with a range of learning opportunities. I am currently going through the Interior Design program and at times it is challenging but I rather be challenged than not at all. Besides the accademic part, learning to live on your own and experiencing new adventures is also included while attending Washington State University.
Am enjoying being here Once you step on the soil of Washington State University, something happens to you. You become caught up in the spirit of WSU is all about. You are apart of something way bigger than one can even comprehend. You are now a Cougar. I enjoy being here and anyone and everyone that visits is hooked and has an urge to come back.
Bang for the buck College can be expensive and Washington State University is no different. But with the top ratings and experience along with the know credits of where you achieve your degree, WSU is totally worth it and is definitely the bang for the buck.
Tips for prospective students At times it is hard to balance academics, social life, and sleep, but with a little hard work and trial and error, becoming a college student here at WSU is worth the effort. Don't give up, believe in your self.
Great for these types of students Students who want to get a great education and have the best school spirit should attend Washington State University.

Tips for prospective students study hard, party smartly.
What to do for fun go to the rec center, so many things to do there, from racquetball to swimming, to basketball, to volleyball

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences i would recommend wsu to anyone looking for the big college experience. while the campus is large, the small town of pullman makes for a fantastic community! its the best of both worlds!
Tips for prospective students make sure you have good snow boots! the winters in pullman can be harsh. i would recommend snowtracks!
Academic Rigor the classes here are challenging, but most professors and ta's are willing to take time out of their personal lives just to see the success of one student.
Dorm Life i lived in rogers dorm before moving into my apartment. rogers was more quiet dorm, but still had tons of activities to participate in by the ra's.
Food and Dining there are four dinning halls on wsu's campus as well as a variety of other dinning/cafe places.
What to do for fun there is always lots of entertainment brought in by the student government. two that have been brought in this year are rob schnieder and kelly clarkson!
Bang for the buck washington state university's tuition is rising, but the resources available are immense!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus there is a tanning salon and a hooka bar on campus.
Great for these types of students washington state university is great for a variety of students! it suits people that want to be extremely involved as well as people that keep more to themselves.
Campus Safety washington state university provides a women's transit at night between 10pm and 2am. this service is completely free. there is also on-campus police and emergency buttons on every block. if you feel you may be attacked, press the button and police will be their within 2 minutes.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences wsu is up to beat and energized to help those are willing to go looking for it. its a beautiful place to visit if one wants to be isolated from the rest of the world. but you never loose connection with the outside world.
Tips for prospective students don't take the first semester so lightly because you were accepted, it'll be an eye opener to what college is really about. go to class and plan your time accordingly and wisely.
Academic Rigor the academics are great if the right teachers teach you. no matter in what major or undecided give it everything you got because its college not high school.
Dorm Life its a great way to meet new people and see how you can handle your self in a different setting. i would just make sure to watch out for the noise when your trying to sleep it can turn into an all night-er.
Food and Dining the food starts out like your going to a restaurant but after a while that restaurant feeling gets duller and duller making you yearn for real home cooked meals. once in a while make something that'll get you feeling like your back home.
What to do for fun the fun is what ever you go looking for or trying something completely new. fun could be just hanging out with friends after cramming for a test or having dinner with your roommates.
Clubs and Activities i would say definitely go use the rec, its the gym, they have a nice one and its included for the tuition and fees so there's no cost to wsu students, just shoe your cougar card (student id).
Campus Safety i would say the safest campus because the police station is on campus. also they have these telephone like things where you can have someone take you back to your room if your uncomfortable walking back by yourself.

Will enjoy being here Many of the graduates I have spoken with are very proud to be a cougar, the never-ending feud between huskies and cougars is entertaining from a researching standpoint.
Bang for the buck Everyone seems to be fine with making payments. Will most likely require scholarships, grants, or loans to assist in tuition.
Tips for prospective students Rumors of WSU being the most STI-prone of all colleges in Washington State.

Categories Rating Comments Will learn a lot Everyone I talked to said that when they were at Pullman, it was nothing but a party town. That world class education isn't worth much if you have to study through everyone else's music and yelling.
Will enjoy being here I've been in contact with WSU for over a year now and it's been a huge hassle every step of the way. You have fees for this and fees for that. Classes start in August, but your academic advisor won't be back until September and you can't register because there's a new-student hold on your account, but if you don't register for the Fall semester, they'll charge you a fee and expel you from attending for two semesters.
Bang for the buck Tuition is about $8,000 (give or take depending on the student). They do have good scholarships and awards if you can get them. From my experience, it's a hassle and you still have to pay fees every time you apply. Even if you should get an award (like for academic merit) they don't always give it to you.
Tips for prospective students Run. For me, WSU has been a hassle. I finally got in (after paying all my fees) and was waiting on the tuition rates to come back to see if I could afford it. I decided that another college would be better for me and tried to get out, and I was charged a boat-load of fees.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences WSU is everything that a college student could want. The classes are challenging, the campus is beautiful, and the people are great. Also, there are tons of on-campus resources to help with any problems you may have, from the transition from home to college or managing your money.
Tips for prospective students If you think you might be interested in going Greek, do it. Greek life is huge at WSU and you'll meet tons of new people. Also, join your class Facebook group. It's a great resource, because you'll find out about events happening on campus and have the opportunity to buy and sell textbooks (if you can avoid using the Bookie, do it- it's way overpriced). Finally, find a hobby or club your freshman year and stick with it- chances are, by the time your junior or senior year rolls around, you'll have a leadership opportunity.
Academic Rigor WSU has relatively challenging classes. Of course, it depends on which classes and the amount of credits you're taking, but you'll definitely have to put in a lot of work outside of class.
Dorm Life WSU has a ton of options for dorms. The freshman ones are usually loud, but there are quiet hours that must be followed. There are other dorms that are specifically for students who are age 19 or older, 20 or older, etc. if you are looking for a quieter dorm. Also, there are girls-only dorms and boys-only dorms, which usually have events together.
Food and Dining As far as college food goes, dining halls at WSU aren't bad at all. After a while, it gets a little repetitive, but they do their best to provide options. They could provide more healthy options, since they always seem to have fried food out, but they do their best with salad bars and labeling healthy foods with a Healthy Choice sticker.
What to do for fun The CUB offers free movies most weekends in their auditorium. All you need is your Cougar Card, and you're treated to a movie theater experience- for free! The SEB (Student Entertainment Board) also hosts Up All Nights. They usually take place on the mall or inside the CUB- they have dances, free food, games, etc. The SEB usually also hires a famous singer or band to come perform on campus. We've had Taylor Swift, Ludacris, Kelly Clarkson, and Waka Flocka Flame, to name a few.
Bang for the buck WSU is a great school, but the tuition increases every year are somewhat troubling. It's getting more and more expensive to attend school here, but if you're looking for your typical American college experience, it's worth it.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus If you're leaving the library at night, be sure you don't accidentally run into the statue of the Book Man just outside the doors. Many people (including myself) have mistaken it for a real person and jumped about 3 feet in the air.
Great for these types of students Social, outgoing, studious, athletic, and diligent.
Clubs and Activities It's hard to even begin to describe the amount of clubs and activities on campus. There's something for everyone. If you're into bicycling, then join the Cycling Club. If you're from Hawaii, join the Pacific Islander Club. If you miss your pets back home, join the Companion Animals Club. If you have a special interest, chances are you'll be able to find a club for it. Take the chance and get involved!
Greek Life Greek life is HUGE at WSU. Again, if you think you might like it, take the chance and go for it- the benefits are endless. You'll meet tons of people, join a house and make a bunch of new friends, and have many networking opportunities. At WSU, there's tons of events- such as Homecoming and Greek Week- where fraternities and sororities pair up, compete in various events, and try to win the most points for their team. It's a great time, and the memories you'll make will be priceless.
Campus Safety WSU has Emergency Stations strategically placed all around campus, as well as an on-campus police station located in the heart of the campus for emergencies.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Washington State University is a great school full of Cougar Pride. It is a small school where everyone is somehow connected.
Tips for prospective students Self advise yourself by looking at your DARS report. Counselors often don't know what classes you need or will accidentally assign you to the wrong classes. Also utilize rate my professor to ensure that you get the best professor available.
Academic Rigor I was in the engineering program so it was a lot of work but I liked it. Several of my friends who are business majors typically have a lighter work load.
Dorm Life Meeting people and making connections through dorm life is great. The RAs and REDs are not very good though. Often times they do not perform their job duties.
Food and Dining The food for the most part is pretty good. By second semester most people are tired of it though.
What to do for fun There are lots of fun adventures to be had around Pullman, you just need to be open to it. You can take a walk up and down the zen staircase or head out to the dunes for a beautiful day in the sun.
Bang for the buck For being an out of state student it was pretty expensive and I didn't feel like I was getting what I was paying for when I had bad professors or misleading counselors.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Cougar football is a lot of fun and the students take a lot of pride in their school.
Campus Safety Many blue light emergency towers are located around campus and women's transit offers safe rides home.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Washington State University is an excellent school. It has teachers who are dedicated to their students and advisers who want to help you. Different programs and activities that appeal to everyone.
Tips for prospective students When you first enter the school find and join a student program founded on helping new/transfer students into adjusting to college life. I join on in my second year and I realized how much it could have helped me when I first joined.
Academic Rigor The classes are challenging but there are programs and teachers who can help you get though them, all you have to do is try.
Dorm Life The dorm life is excellent, the single rooms are spacious and quiet.
Food and Dining The food and dining are something that can be decided individually. I can chose you meal plan, and change it though out the year. They have a corner mart on campus where you can use you meal plan to pay for things so you don't have to carry cash all the time.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences WSU has an excellent bus system as well as a relatively nice campus. In addition to being a relatively high ranking school, it sits in the happy town of Pullman, which is big enough for there to be things to do and small enough that the people are still friendly.
Tips for prospective students Work hard and don't miss classes.
Academic Rigor It all depends on how hard you apply yourself. If you take easy classes, chances are you'll have an easy time.
Dorm Life Dorm life is relatively fun, but still about average.
Food and Dining Food and dining services at WSU are about average.
What to do for fun While many students bemoan the amount of shopping, there are many recreational activities to be had, particularly if you like the outdoors. There are multiple hiking, camping, fishing, and boating opportunities within a few hours drive.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I love being a WSU student. The community here is like no other place I've ever been. The academics are great and the people are amazing.
Tips for prospective students Be prepared for college town life, but give Pullman a chance. It has lots to offer.
Academic Rigor There are a lot of great professors and the class sizes are nice. The lower level classes are usually under 200, except for the occasional 500 person class. The upper level classes are small so you get to make great connections with both classmates and teachers. The professors are very accessible and willing to work with students.
Dorm Life It seems to me dorm life is pretty much the same as anywhere else. The really nice thing is the proximity to campus - when you live in the dorms classes are a very short walk away. Residence Life works to make dorm life a good experience.
Food and Dining There are only 3 dining centers on campus that you can use your dining plan at, but there are numerous cafes and markets on campus that give more options for eating. The Compton Union Building offers a few more options to choose from.
What to do for fun Anything you do with friends is an adventure. Riding the bus to different places around town, Zeppos (bowling/casino/arcade), various clubs and sports and organizations for just about any interest.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Washington State University, in Pullman, is a beautiful college with people who are relaxed and take their school seriously. However, WSU has its ability to be the time of your life if you allow it. It can build up who you are even stronger then you could imagine.
Tips for prospective students Dont get too caught up in staying up late with friends. There is a time for work and a time for play. Remember to prioritize your time so you have enough time for both.
Academic Rigor The course load for a freshman is nothing. If you have ever taken Advanced Placement classes, or strived to actually learn, WSU will be a breeze. The finals are related to the lectures, so if you attend you shouldn't leave failing classes (especially with all the resources at your disposal).
Dorm Life The dorm I was in didn't have the best activities. We would set something up but the other student wouldn't show. But dorms are not just for fun, I was able to get work done, and sleep without much distraction.
Food and Dining The dining halls are terrible. The best stuff is definitely Walmart supplied, and maybe the occasional milkshake at Flix.
What to do for fun WSU has a lot of clubs that really get people involved. Along with the clubs, there are intramural sports that get athletic kids to compete. Also WSU has a very bright social life on Friday and Saturday nights.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences WSU is a friendly college town with a lot to offer. The city of Pullman is completely college oriented and be prepared to meet some lifelong friends. Washington State is a great university and place to attend college.
Tips for prospective students Apply as soon as possible and make a commitment. The sooner freshmen apply and confirm the higher priority they get to choose their dorms. Also take alive as early as possible to get the best classes
Academic Rigor Rigor depends on a major. Science and research based majors are very difficult. Others can be much easier. Be prepared to study!
Dorm Life Dorms are very freshman friendly. There is a lot of effort placed into helping students make new and lasting friendships.
Food and Dining Dinning could be improved on. My recommendation is to frequent the northside fitness cafe. The food there is the healthiest and it is all you can eat!
What to do for fun Golfing, visiting the rec, multiple concerts per year, dozens of student events, going to the cliffs for a good time, hanging out with friends. WSU is very peer oriented when it comes to fun.
Bang for the buck Great education for the cost of attendance. They give out a lot of scholarships also.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus Lentil festival. The entire town of Pullman comes out in the summer to celebrate and get to know each other.
Great for these types of students WSU is great for anyone who wants the full college experience. Pullman is a college town and anyone who wants to feel welcomed and have fun should come here. Also those who wish to do anything with research are encouraged to apply.
Clubs and Activities Numerous clubs to join. anything from foreign language clubs to fitness clubs. There are a lot of extracurricular activities to get involved with as well.
Greek Life Large Greek community. If going Greek is what you want then WSU is the place to go. They put on activities daily and Greek row is always alive.
Campus Safety One of the safest campuses in the nation, in a city that is rated one of the safest places to grow up in. Hardly any crime. If you want to sleep sound at night knowing that you will be safe and protected then WSU is the place to go!

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences I came to WSU due to their outstanding Biological Sciences department, I am staying because I love it here. Washington State University is so much more than just an university, the students are connected in a unique way and Pullman is really a cougar-friendly community. This school is the perfect mix of academics, community, and self investment.
Tips for prospective students Do not fret about the minor details, instead focus on making yourself the best person you can be. If you do not shine in all areas, again don't worry. WSU is truly a place that values students for their academics, service, and their aptitude for success.
Academic Rigor Depending on the major, WSU can be quite difficult, but not overwhelming. The courses at WSU offer students the push to become better learners and to gain the tools they need for their future careers.
Dorm Life The dorms are the perfect place to meet new people and to build a connection to the community you have just became a part of. I loved living in dorms, so next year I am working as a Residential Adviser to help students living in dorms!
Food and Dining Of course, it is a college dining center.. There are positives, like the late night dining offered at Flix, the variety offered in the dining centers, and the prospect of nearby restaurants.
What to do for fun While being a small town, Pullman offers plenty to do involving the community. There is of course the bowling alley and movie theater, Greek row, and plenty of university sponsored events. If you actually try instead of sitting around complaining about being bored, Pullman has a ton to do!

Dorm Life Living in the dorms was a great way to meet other people.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Washington State University (or Wazzu/WSU) is a very versatile, vibrant and diverse society. It is more than just a school it is a community and it has become a big part of my life. My color is crimson, what's yours?
Tips for prospective students Apply early (it really pays off)
If you're, be here (get involved)
Study hard and play harder (live life)
TIME MANAGEMENT!Academic Rigor Stay focused no matter what, it will pay off in the long term even though it may seem like a pain at first, it will become routine to stay ontop of your work. Time management is VERY important (I learnt the hard way), the more organized you rare, the more time you have to have fun :)
Dorm Life Bond with your roommate, it may turn in to a lifelong friendship!
Keep your side clean, take out the trash and do your laundry weekly, it really builds up. Make it your own personal space! the dorms are a decent size, they have single or double or sometimes triple rooms and there is a wide range of dorms to choose from, from mixed floors to single sex dorms.Food and Dining Really try to eat HEALTHY it is a pain to try and shed the pounds or get back into shape, last minute just before the summer :( the food is ok. There are four main dinning centers all located on campus near certain residence halls and an abundance of cafes around campus and fast food restaurants ranging from Mexican to Chinese to Starbucks.
What to do for fun Friends really become your backbone here so just find time to spend with them and do whatever makes you guys happy. there is a skate-park, gyms, bowling, movies, parties, up-all-nights, concerts, spring fest, lentil festival and so much more!!!!!!
Bang for the buck I am an international student so the tuition is a lot higher than instate students but I believe that it is worth it. I have learned so much and gained so much experience in the year that I have been here, my experiences have been priceless.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus There is this really cool graffiti wall, I'm not quite sure who made it but its there to admire. The most unusual tradition I can think of would be the Lentil festival but apparently its lots of fun. There is also the Moscow Mardi Gras which is just ten minutes away.
Great for these types of students It is great for all kinds of students! They strive to accommodate for all types of students and incorporate everybody into the WSU community.
Clubs and Activities There are tons of clubs and actives, ranging from academia to extreme outdoor sports and its really easy to form an organization/club of your own if you don't find one that doesn't suit your unique interests.
Greek Life I am not part of a Greek society but I know from personal accounts that it is a lifelong commitment and they love it!
Campus Safety It is extremely safe, I feel safer walking around here at any time of night or day, by myself (and I'm a female) than I do at home. There are emergency helplines all over the place, an on campus police station and a women's transit service.

Tips for prospective students This is a wonderful school but the weather is not for everyone, it tends to get extremely cold and you must be willing to deal with snow. Other than that I love the school. I have no regrets for my decision.
Academic Rigor College is meant to be tough, degrees should not be handed out. It definitely prepares you for life though. After school things should not come easy and they make sure to prepare you for that.
Dorm Life I live in a fraternity and I love it. I never experienced the dorms but some friends that have enjoyed it. I would recommend going grrek it has done wonders in my life.
Food and Dining I eat mostly at the fraternity but there are many other options. Small cafes, fast food, and other facilities all great options.
What to do for fun I am in a fraternity so I spend a lot of time with my brothers. Also I love to go to sporting events and support cougar athletics. Or even just hanging out with other people I have met on campus.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences Washington State University is a good choice because it is a small town with friendly people making you feel right at home. Professors are easy to interact with and have one on one conversations. There is so many opportunities to get involved and meet new people.
Tips for prospective students The weather here is mostly cold so make sure you bring snow boots and be prepared for a cold winter. Also, make sure to attend classes because many professors have in class activities with easy or extra credit points. That really helps raise your grade. Make sure to get involved and volunteer! :)
Academic Rigor Washington State University really strives for excellence and pushes students to show their potential. Programs are designed to challenge students to demonstrate they understand concepts and prepares them to get out to the work force.
Dorm Life I was a transfer student so I never got a chance to live at the dorms.
Food and Dining I personally haven't really ate at the dining centers on campus but there is a food court on campus with many fast food restaurants including subway, panda express and Carlitas among other places. Downtown also has a lot of good restaurants.
Clubs and Activities There is a club called The Zuu it has really good deals during the week like hot wing night on Wednesdays where the hot wings are about 3 dollars. On Thursday it is Latino night ect. There is a Bar/ restaurant on campus available for students. There is bars called mikes and Villah. There is a cinema, casino, and bowling place. Categories Rating Comments In three sentences If you are all about school spirit, Wazzu is the perfect fit as I don't see any school more spirited than a Coug. They have a great honor's program and both my advisors (honors advisor and business advisor) are outstanding. For a smaller town school, it is a great university with many different options as far as majors and activities.
Tips for prospective students If you are planning to be a business major, be aware that you cannot double major within the college of business. If your second major is a non-business major, then it is okay. This is something I wish I was aware of before I came.
Academic Rigor I spend a lot of time on homework each night. It is hard to say if my large homework load is due to being in the Honor's program or if every student is the same.
Dorm Life I have never lived in the dorm, but from what I have seen, they are very small and sometimes outdated. They are very (outrageously) expensive.
Food and Dining Many food and dining options on campus, including a sit down restaurant. Most food is over priced but you get discounts if you are a student and even more discounts if you live in the dorms.
What to do for fun There are many activities put on the university itself. WSU has an outstanding Greek system. People from larger towns often complain about a lack of stuff to do in the town itself. I come from a small town, so I enjoy going out in the woods, riding fourwheelers, etc so Pullman is not too far away from places that fit my needs.
Bang for the buck WSU is really expensive for out of state. There are a lot of budget cuts currently happening, as well as a hike in tuition rates.
Clubs and Activities There is a wide variety of activities that will fit anyone's needs.
Greek Life I am not personally in the Greek system, but most of my friends are. The Greek community has a large numbere of participants and seems like a very good system.
Campus Safety I haven't run into any personal safety problems. Randomly through campus are security alarms you push any time you feel unsafe. At night, you can push these and a police officer will give you a ride anywhere you need to go.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences washington state university is a beautiful campus that seems to stay very clean. with the easy and free transit buses that run throughout pullman, crazy school spirit, huge libraries, and efficient professors, i rate the zzu a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. it is also a wonderful school because i feel extremely safe walking around day or night.
Tips for prospective students the tips i'd have to give are: go to class, take good notes, and get homework done a little at time right away-especially if you are a procrastinator! it is difficult to come to college if you are not used to so much work and many hard tests. however, it is much more simple if students read the assigned material, go to class, and study a little at a time. then, students can actually learn the material instead of just cramming. i also would have to say to not forget to have fun. it isn't good for new students to come here and just party almost every night because that's what you're supposedly supposed to do in college. however, going out with friends every now and then is completely healthy! as long as your physical and mental health is not negatively affected, having a little fun with friends is okay.
Academic Rigor professors take cheating very seriously at this college. it can easily lead to expulsion. they expect good behavior during class. also, the school takes into account students' actions outside of class. for example, if someone were to get an mip or a felony of some sort, they have certain classes that those students are to take as part of their punishment.
Dorm Life dorm life is stellar! it is the perfect way to meet new friends and a great place to hold study sessions. wsu provides tons of dorm options that vary in price, may be co-ed, or are closer to classes and the buildings in the middle of campus. the faculty that work for the dorms are very hard-working and really care about the students who live there. they try their best to keep the dorm clean, fun, and studious.
Food and Dining there are several restaurants throughout campus and several cafes in the buildings where classes are held. as for students living in the dorms, university dining services provide great food in the dining halls and kind service. there are always many nutritional choices available.
What to do for fun the university has a huge recreational center where students and other pullman citizens can go to work out, play indoor sports, or swim. there are intramural sports available for those who do not belong on a team through wsu. also, the outdoor recreation center allows students to rent things like rollerblades, bikes, boating equipment, and other outdoor recreation activity supplies. they rent it to students for free! on campus, there are little stores and coffee shops that are fun to go to with or without friends. the greek system is spirited and many of them do volunteering and have their own fraternity or sorority house activities. students are constantly busy here!
Bang for the buck i was told that washington state university was too much of a party school but i completely disagree. it is great! any college can be considered a party school and will only have that effect on people who choose that path while they're in college. it has a great variety of students from mostly the northwest and some from other parts of the country and world.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus football and basketball games are insane and so fun! our cheering traditions as an audience include lots and lots and lots of screaming. we take out our keys and jingle them during kickoff at football games. at every sporting event where the band is, we do the cougar shark attack where the band plays the jaws theme song and we open our arms and clap them together. the beat gets faster and faster and it gets super loud. before many of the home games on friday night, the band marches all over campus and greek row playing wsu band songs.
Great for these types of students every type of student...wsu is open for everyone. it is especially fun for outgoing people who are willing to learn and meet new people.
Clubs and Activities wsu includes: intramural sports, university recreation, outdoor recreation, tutoring, study groups and sessions, foreign exchange clubs, different language-speaking clubs, and clubs for people with disorders or personal problems.
Greek Life greek students do a lot for the pullman community. they volunteer their time to clean up the town or help out at a retirement home or daycare. fraternities and sororities have events that they do for fun as well. they each have their own requirements for grades and whatnot which makes them qualified for the house.
Campus Safety the university provides a free transportation service for women called women's transit. there are also free buses that go throughout the town very frequently and bus stops all over the place. because of this, mostly all students feel safe and comfortable during the day or night. besides transportation, the university makes sure the sidewalks and roads are clean and clear or graveled when it has snowed. this way, the town is safe to walk or drive on.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences washington state university has a beautiful campus with tons of social, academic, and extracurricular activities to offer. class sizes are small to mid sized and all professors and t.a's offer convenient office hours and extra help if needed. the student recreation center and outdoor recreation center have hundreds of classes and opportunities to help stay healthy and focused, and overall the school is a great life experience.
Tips for prospective students take your time on your essay, it is your opportunity to really express who you are and what you have to offer as a student. also try and get a feel for what majors you are interested in, this will help guide you into a school that's right for you and will put you in quicker contact with faculty members in certain departments.
Academic Rigor depending on your major the workload is average to large. in lower division courses it is much lower and easier. courses with labs can be taxing but with the right motivation and dedication and student can handle the workload.
Dorm Life dorms are well maintained and comfortable. the internet access is slow and goes out every so often but every dorm also has tech support. most of the residence halls are very close to campus and all the roads around them are well maintained with plenty of parking. the rooms are decent sizes and come with usually large closets.
Food and Dining the cafeterias on campus are excellent (especially southside cafe), and the resident dining account is convenient and easy to understand. they offer a wind variety of healthy options and good hours. the campus also has many coffee stands and a cyber cafe that takes rda money. one of the most convenient additions to the dining on wsu is the markets that are located nearby. this is important because many people who do not bring their cars to school can go to these markets and not be forced to walk or ride the bus to farther locations and are open until 1-2am.
What to do for fun being a rural setting there isn't a great amount of things to do in pullman. the school offers multiple recreational activities, including ski, rock climbing, biking, and hiking trips as well as fun and cheap yoga, aerobics, swimming, and dance classes (and many many others). the city also has many pubs and bars, and two hookah lounges, as well as good restaurants. the neighboring town of moscow, id, also has similar activities.
Bang for the buck overall, the entire town is catered to the university students, so it is a great place to transition from the safety of your parents abode to a new independent life. great people and great academics.
Great for these types of students social, outgoing, fun, and friendly. because of the rural setting it is important to make friends in order to really enjoy the activities of pullman. there is a huge sense of unity and school spirit here and students support each other.
Clubs and Activities wsu has over 300 clubs for a wide range of interests. they also offer intermural sports.
Greek Life wsu has a large greek life and is greek row is located near campus.
Campus Safety wsu has emergency phones placed all over campus, an active police force, and a women's escort service women can call if they want to feel safer walking home late at night. when the weather turns sour, the roads are imminently taken care of to avoid collisions and all students receive warning emails and texts if there is any sort of danger

Tips for prospective students coming to college can be intimidating, but come in with your head held high. having confidence is the best way to be prepared for college. that and good, reliable snow boots.
Academic Rigor i have a challenging course of study, so my classes keep me very busy. i enjoy all of them though, and the professors are all very friendly and helpful. make sure you keep up with your work!
Dorm Life living in the dorms is probably one of the best experiences so far. you live in the same building as hundreds of people, so it is really easy to meet new people. i have created friendships that i know will last a lifetime.
Food and Dining the food service is spectacular! there are multiple food venues to choose from, no matter what side of campus you are on. the main cafeterias are buffet style, where you serve your own food and pay at the end. there is always a wide selection, and the food is top notch. i love when they have theme days!
What to do for fun there are many programs that the campus throws, including up all nights, where you can do anything from laugh at a stand up comedian to play laser tag! downtown pullman is always a fun excursion, and the moscow mall is only a short drive away.
Bang for the buck i'm getting my money's worth here at wsu. i have gained so much knowledge that you could not put a price on.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus every winter when the snow comes, grab a lunch tray and come sledding down one of the main hills in campus!
Great for these types of students any type of student would find their place here on campus! it is such a diverse place to be.

Categories Rating Comments In three sentences It is extremely open-minded and welcoming to people from all walks of life. The students are ready and willing to help and answer any questions for new comers. They have a lot of activities to get new students involved and the staff really push students involvement as a key to success at the school.
Tips for prospective students If you're looking for a dorm-centered school, make sure you pick the one in Pullman or Tri-Cities because the Vancouver branch doesn't have student housing.
Also make sure you're ready for the academics. Some of the teachers are extremely laid back about homework (but they still teach really well) and others are much more up tight and strict. Ask around!! Students are really friendly and ready to offer any advice about which classes to take based on which professors.
The other thing to be aware of is the amount and variety of events that go on! Even the Vancouver branch (that has no student housing) has some incredible events and you will have a LOT of options for things to do on the weekends and during breaks.Academic Rigor Some classes are harder than others depending on the teacher. Students are more than happy to offer advice and opinions on which classes are better than others, which professors to avoid or try for, etc. There is definitely high expectations for students here, but the school also offers a LOT of help with tutors, free writing and math labs with instructors ready to help, and more.
Dorm Life The Vancouver branch doesn't have dorms.
Food and Dining The food is actually really good and they have a lot of variety. If you're going to the Vancouver campus, they have a smaller dining hall, but there is still a salad bar and a lot of fun sandwiches and soups and chicken dishes. It's a bit pricy at times, but they work hard to make it affordable to students.
What to do for fun There is a lot of back-packing trips and outdoor events at the Vancouver branch. They also have quite a few different intramural teams for different sports like soccer and basketball and volleyball and Frisbee golf and more. The different clubs on campus also host different events that interest a wide variety of interests. Movies, political talks, speed dating, halloween parties, a dance, improv socials, concerts, and LOTS of PIZZA!
Bang for the buck The food is decently priced, although a lot of students go off-campus for food. The Bookie (where a lot of students buy their books) tends to be a bit expensive, but readily available for people who need last-minute things.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus This is a relatively newer school, so I'm not sure if there are any true traditions yet.
Great for these types of students Working students, students with families and children to take care of, students who live in the area, students interested in engineering, psychology, or biology, students with a connection to the LGBTQ club (they're the largest group on campus and very well supported), and students with an interest in anything outdoors.
Clubs and Activities There are plenty of clubs and plenty of activities going on all the time. If you can't find the specific club you're looking for, then find two other people who are interested and start you own!
Greek Life There isn't any.
Campus Safety There are safety buttons at every corner. Maps and emergency plans are also located anywhere that someone would possibly need one. The campus patrols are real cops with real guns and are extremely friendly. I have asked them to walk me to my car at night, jump start my car battery, and much more and they are always so kind and helpful.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The teachers are great. Some of the professors might not be as available as some students may want them to be. But the work load is definitely there!
Am enjoying being here Aside from the cold Pullman weather, I enjoy going to school, I enjoy the comfortable campus, and I enjoy the opportunities that WSU provides. It is great meeting new people that come from all around the globe.
Bang for the buck I believe the education that I am receiving is worth my money, definitely in the long run. I think having a higher education is very important, especially for the first generation college students, such as myself. It is a huge accomplishment to be able to attend college.
Tips for prospective students It is definitely worth leaving home. I know it might be hard at first, I myself went to a community college before going to a university, but I definitely do not regret doing it. It's great meeting new people that you probably would not have met if you hadn't gone to college!
Great for these types of students I think WSU is great for anyone who is serious about having a college education. There are many international students that we have. Anyone who is ready and serious about pursuing a serious career.

Categories Rating Comments Tips for prospective students There are many resources here and you get what you pay for. However, if you don't use these resources or don't know how to tap into them, it can be detrimental to finding work later and applying for grad school.
Great for these types of students Great for students who need to stay local (I am on the Vancouver campus).

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I am really learning a lot from all the teachers and also my peers and how to handle stuff on my own rather than depending on my parent.
Am enjoying being here I've met so many new people and have been doing so much better in college here than I did in Hisg School.
Bang for the buck It's a little pricey but then again it's mostly tuition that is rising which is not the school's fault.
Tips for prospective students Make sure to manage your time wisely and not procrastinate on anything.
Great for these types of students Procrastinators, and those who think college will be easy.

Bang for the buck Tuition and dorm living cost a lot and it is prospected to rise each year.
Tips for prospective students WSU is a great school but it is expensive.
Great for these types of students WSU is great for hard workers, learners, and people who are passonate about their major.

Categories Rating Comments Am enjoying being here Although Pullman is a very small town, I honestly feel right at home. The tight-knit community makes it a 100% college town. At every home game, whether its Football, Basketball, Baseball, or Volleyball, the alumni and our local community is at all of the games cheering.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I'm going into my senior year of college and over the past 3 years I have learned a ton at WSU. Not only in classes but also about myself. The teaching staff at WSU is top notch. Most of the professors I have encountered care a lot about their students. Of course, it is a college campus and most professors aren't going to seek you out you have to go to them. I have found however, that when you approach a professor or TA for help they are usually more than willing.
Am enjoying being here I love WSU and the environment. Being of AAPI decent and coming from a very diverse area I wasn't sure if I would enjoy myself in a primarily white community. Before I even arrived to campus I was contacted by a mentor from Multicultural Student Services. Once I got to WSU my mentor took me in and showed me the ropes and how to get involved at WSU. Over the past three years I've served on cabinets of many ethnic organizations and the MSS community has become my family.
Bang for the buck Although the tuition is much cheaper than attending a private school, with tuition increases the last several years I almost wish I had taken the CC route first to save some money. However, if you are looking for a University environment WSU is great for that. When I arrived here I loved how much there was to do on Campus. The students do a great job of hosting and putting on events for the student body to enjoy which makes the experience that much better.
Tips for prospective students The only thing I can really say is that being in Pullman is what you make of it. You will feel like you're in the middle of no where with nothing to do if you make it that way. You have to get out of your comfort zone, meet new people, and find things to get involved in. With over 300 different organizations there is something for everyone. If there isn't something for you, get some friends together and start and organization. But, make sure you're involved and having fun throughout you're college career, while still maintaining a good work ethic and focusing on school.
Great for these types of students WSU like any college is great for students who have an internal drive. You have to want to succeed to do good just like at any other University. Professors won't approach you so you have to make your presence known.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot You can go into so many different majors and minors at WSU. It's business college is in the top 10 of the country which is very impressive. The only thing is I wish it had more art based classes, like culinary or sewing. The teachers are great (well the ones I've had, some say their teachers aren't as great) and I've learned so many new things.
Am enjoying being here The atmosphere is awesome at WSU. Everyone is nice and friendly. There are tons of clubs to join that fit what you are looking for. The school spirit is crazy here. We aren't good at sports but our spirit makes up for it. You'll never meet someone not proud to be a coug.
Bang for the buck It's a beautiful campus with some great facilities. The dining services can be good depending where you go and at what times. The dorms can be pretty nice depending on which ones you go to. They restore the dorms often which keeps them looking alright. Most of them are quite small though, but you don't have to pay as much for those. If you take full advantage of all the free and awesome things available to you then it's definitely worth it.
Tips for prospective students Go to all the week of welcome events. Go out meet new people, go to the clubs, leave your door open to your room and get to know the people in your dorm. Use all the resources available for you and help (they are all free!). Everyone is just as scared and nervous as you are so it's okay to not seem completely put together.
Great for these types of students EVERYONE is great for the college. Everyone is welcome.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot I've learned so much about my major as well as myself and growing up! Classes have taught me things that I would have probably never learned. It amazed me how practical some of the tings have been that I've learned. Another surprise was learning the same concepts, but in different was and in different classes. It showed me that those concepts are important pieces of information that can apply to many areas. Being in college has also helped me learn more responsibility. Making it through my freshman year has taught me a lot about myself. My friends would agree that this school has showed them how responsible and hardworking they can be.
Am enjoying being here I am an out of state student from Wisconsin. Being so far away from home came with a bit of homesickness, but WSU helped me through it! I talked to an advisor about my homesickness. I expressed how I wanted to be more involved and meet people. My advisor showed me the many opportunities and events that the university offers that could help me. I felt much better after our meeting and began to do more things and meet more people. WSU is a very social and welcoming environment.
Bang for the buck Being an out of state student comes with a bigger tuition, but in my opinion it is well worth it. I've gained so much experience by being in a new place that is so far from home. I've learned that WSU is a safe place and there are people here who are very willing to help. Many people here want to see students succeed and enjoy themselves. There are facilities with free printing, advisers, mentors and tutors. WSU also hosts many events that are free for students and cheap for non-university students. There are also awesome, free facilities such as the transit system and recreation center.
Tips for prospective students I would advice prospective students to give WSU a shot! Visit the university! And during the visit take some time to walk around by yourself. It is during that time to yourself that you will get a feeling of the university and know if it is the place for you. During my visit I felt so comfortable like I was at home.
Great for these types of students WSU is great for all students. It is so diverse and welcoming that anyone can fit in!

Will enjoy being here While it is a small town, there is plenty to do, with Moscow being ten minutes awat from Pullman.
Bang for the buck WSU is really stinkin' expensive for those who are out-of-state.
Great for these types of students Diligent students would do great at WSU.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Everyday I'm learning through my teachers, the books, and even my friends. When you are being educated at WSU, you aren't just getting book smart, you are also getting street smart about living away from home, how to balance work and play, and how to live on a budget.
Am enjoying being here I love being a WSU student because I love being a Cougar and a part of a community that I can feel proud of. The rush you get when your football team runs on the field, your volleyball team ties up the fifth match, or your basketball team is beating the Huskies. Or it could be watching your friends performing in Wadleigh or Jones Theatre in a student created, made, and ran production. You get so much out of the experience of living here and a bit of partying is never awful if you're careful.
Bang for the buck While it isn't the cheapest of schools, it isn't the most expensive. If you are applying from out of state check for the Cougar Academic Achievement award. You can get up to $9000 a year for getting good grades!
Tips for prospective students Invest in some good snow boots and yes when there is ice in the ground you will fall. Don't worry, everyone does. Be sure to not wear gold and purple together since those are WSU's rival colors, the UW Huskies. (BOOO!) Be sure to check out Pullman's downtown area. It is small, but quaint. And remember to check out the sunset at night on a mostly clear day. It is truly breathtaking.
Great for these types of students WSU is great if you like sports, opportunities to go on adventure excursions, the colors crimson and gray, the Greek system, Multicultural sororities and fraternities, Multicultural events, Agriculture, Vet majors, hands on undergraduate research, free pb and j sandwiches Wednesdays 12:00-1:00pm, free open mic days, philanthropy events.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot The professors and TAs here are more than willing to help a student. They are willing to meet you outside their office hours. In class they use methods that really work for me.
Am enjoying being here I love living in the dorms, being around college students who are going through the same thing you are is great. It helps with the studying and when you have down time it great to hang out with people that you live near.
Bang for the buck I have been paying about 5,000 a semester, before the books. I received a 1,500 scholarship per semester. This has really helped paying for school.
Tips for prospective students I encourage prospective students to apply early, complete the scholarship application and really take the time to insure it is the best of your abilities. It can help in the long run.
Great for these types of students This school is great for students who need a social life. Also it is great for students who need a little extra help in the classroom.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot WSU has wonderful faculty that are always willing to help the students out. Don't be shy to ask for help.
Am enjoying being here I am having the time of my life with friends that I have made here through various organizations on campus, church and classes.
Tips for prospective students I am glad that I decided to go to WSU over other schools, because the sense of community is far beyond what I have received upon visiting at other schools.
Check out the university and take a visit to the university so you can get a sense of what WSU is all about.Great for these types of students People with a pulse. All people are welcome here and can get the best out of their education through a World Class Face to Face education that WSU offers.

Categories Rating Comments Am learning a lot Most of the professors I've had are amazing! They are entertaining and you can tell that they love what they are teaching. I find that as long as I go to class (which I recommend), the topics end up being interesting and studying comes easier. I truly am learning a lot.
Am enjoying being here Are you kidding me? This is WSU! Of course I enjoy being here! And despite what you hear, it is not all about partying here. The school holds concerts, probably hundreds of clubs, and we also have these things called up all nights at out Compton Union building (CUB) which are themed with things like Halloween, Hawaiian, and game night! WSU gives me so much opportunity to other things besides drown in my school work. GO COUGS!
Bang for the buck Some of the classes are rigorous and take time. But this is a good thing! This school wants so badly for us to all succeed and go on to professional schools if need be. There is SO much help offered here including the writing center, free tutoring 5 days a week at the CUB, and chemistry TA office hours ALL DAY monday through thursday. This and just going to your classes makes this school so worth the cost of college.
Tips for prospective students I think my number one advice is definitely GO TO CLASS! So much money is going into your education why let it go to waste? And besides, you could find that you really love your classes if you put time into them. Another tip of mine is of course study. A half hour to an hour per day of studying notes (this doesn't include homework) from each class starting the first day was enough to ROCKET my grades upwards compared to last year. Don't procrastinate! The other advice I can give you, which is also very important, HAVE FUN. Don't burn yourself out! Make sure that you reward yourself for how hard you've been working at least on the weekend. Trust me, you will thank yourself for it. Go to the CUB, there is always something to do there! And remember... GO COUGS!
Great for these types of students This school is amazing for students that are looking for a good school that also has opportunities to relax when you need to. And of course there are tons of clubs! Also, this is a research institution so if you are going into a professional school that would look at research experience, this is a spectacular place to go!
