Arizona Resident Merit Based Scholarships
- Scholarship Description
- In order qualify for merit scholarships based upon the AIMS test to be applied towards tuition at Northern Arizona University, students must meet the three following criteria as set by the Arizona Department of Education: Part 1: Students must complete all 16 Core Competency Courses by graduation with a 3.0 or better in each course. AND Part 2: Students must meet at least one of the following academic requirements: Option 1 - GPA: Cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 on an unweighted 4.0 scale Option 2 - Class Rank: Students in the top 5% of high school graduating class upon graduation. AND Part 3: Students must meet at least one of the following assessment options: Option 1: EXCEED Standards on all 3 of the AIMS Tests – Reading, Writing, Math. Option 2: EXCEED Standards on 2 of the AIMS Tests (Reading, Writing, Math) and MEET Standards on the remaining AIMS Test. Additionally, they would either need to receive at least a score of 3 on two Advanced Placement exams or a score of at least 4 on two International Baccalaureate exams. Qualified students will receive a merit scholarship to cover the cost of in-state tuition at Northern Arizona University. This scholarship must be claimed and eligible students must enroll at Northern Arizona University within 8 months of graduation. This award may be carried forward for three additional years, provided that the student maintain continuous full-time enrollment and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at Northern Arizona University. Details will be outlined in your official award letter. Determinations for eligibility will be made by the Arizona Department of Education in conjunction with the Arizona Board of Regents and Arizona high schools as late as July 30th after graduation from high school.
