Scripps awards three Johnson Summer Student Research Grants each year. The awards are given on a competitive basis for student-initiated, interdisciplinary projects. Each research grant is for $3,000, plus $300 for any necessary equipment and expenses. The stipulations on the awards are:

Criteria for evaluation of an application will include the intellectual rationale for the research project, its feasibility, its interdisciplinary focus, faculty recommendation/s and relevant aspects of the student's background.
