George Manus Memorial Scholarship
- Scholarship Description
- Candidates must be new freshmen or transfer students planning on entering Illinois State University in the upcoming fall semester, who reside in Chicago and plan to return to Chicago to teach. Students must major in one of the teaching programs in either the Departments of Special Education or Curriculum and Instruction. Students must have an ACT composite score which is no lower than 25 and no higher than 27.9 and a high school GPA of at least 3.75 on a 4.0 scale. A letter of recommendation from an educator familiar with the student's goals and achievements is required. This scholarship is renewable each year if the recipient maintains a GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. This award will be used for the recipient's tuition and fees. In addition to the application, this scholarship requires the following essay: Please describe your plans and desire to teach in Chicago following graduation. Please limit your response to 250-500 words. This essay will be collected through the online application.
