Mission Statement
The mission of Carleton College is to provide an exceptional undergraduate liberal arts education. In pursuit of this mission, the College is devoted to academic excellence, distinguished by the creative interplay of teaching, learning, and scholarship, and dedicated to our diverse residential community and extensive international engagements.
Purpose: The Richard A. Salisbury '66 Fund is an endowed fund intended to support student research fellowships. These fellowships provide valuable opportunities for independent research in any field taught at the College or to undertake projects in the creative or performing arts. These grants allow students to pursue academic interests outside the classroom over summer or winter break.
Salisbury Fellowships are meant to expand the number and range of opportunities available to students to pursue intellectual and creative interests, especially in Africa or Latin America. Although the interests pursued through a Salisbury Fellowship might well grow out of course work or anticipate a subsequent integrative exercise project, the purpose of the Fellowship is to provide freedom to engage in other kinds of learning.
Funding: Awards are given annually of up to $3,500 to the fellows chosen.
See website for this year's deadlines.
