General Scholarship Description: The UO Chinese Flagship program offers advanced Mandarin language learners a four-year honors-level program designed to help students develop superior-level language skills while pursuing degrees in the academic major of their choice. The expectation is that Flagship scholars will learn, grow, challenge, and support each other through the challenges of balancing their demanding course load. They will also be actively involved in sharing the Chinese culture with the larger university community. Flagship students will spend their junior year immersed in the culture and integrated into regular courses at Nanjing University in China. Flagship scholars will receive career counseling, introductions to government and private employers, and internship opportunities. If you are highly motivated and interested in developing your Chinese language skills along with the technical expertise of your major, then this program will serve you well! UO Chinese Flagship scholars are part of a network of National Flagship Language Program (NFLP) students dedicated to serve as lifelong advocates for better international and cultural understanding. General Scholarship Criteria: This scholarship is available to: Undergraduate Students GPA requirement: 3.25 Awarded to top applicants who demonstrate advanced Mandarin Chinese language learner proficiency, community involvement, academic record, and commitment to professional and educational growth. Must be U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident to be eligible for scholarship. Part time students are not eligible.
