Charles P. Seltenrich Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Description
Alabama State University Great Teacher Scholarships of the Trust for Educational Excellence Fund were created to attract the best and brightest students from throughout Alabama and encourage them to pursue a teaching career. These scholarships build on Alabama State University’s rich legacy of producing outstanding teachers for Alabama’s children, K-12. From its earliest years as a teacher’s college, ASU has had an enviable history of preparing teachers. The Great Teacher Scholarships are awarded to beginning freshman, junior college transfers, and continuing/returning Alabama State University State students. Recipients of a Great Teacher Scholarship must major in a Teacher Education Program. If a scholarship recipient changes his or her major to a non teacher certification program, the Great Teacher Scholarship will be terminated. The basis for selecting recipients of a Great Teacher Scholarship shall be an applicant’s grade point average of 3.0 and ACT score of 18 (comparable SAT score of 840) for beginning freshman and 3.0 and above for transfers and continuing/returning students on a 4.0 scale, after having completed 24 semester hours (36 quarter hours) of credit.
